Encoded Asks #9 - Classics

From leoryff on DA I don't think this was a serious ask, but I freaking HAD to do this! The pun was beautiful and I could just see Dream all confused. Just to be clear, because I know SOMEONE is going to comment on it, the whole "why I hate you" bit is mostly referring to the fact that Dream never took interest in what Nightmare truly liked. I still follow the headcanon that he would read to Dream when they were younger, sitting under that damned tree. (not sure if it's true, so calling it a headcanon) But Dream was never really interested in the books themselves. He did like spending time with his brother, listening to him read, but he never got into reading himself. They just didn't like the same things and Nightmare always felt like he put more effort into doing things with Dream before he just shut him out and started reading more and more as he was abused. It was his escape, and it's a sore subject with him that Dream never even liked the stories.

Encoded Prompts: Sunday - Celebration

Happy Mother's day to all! It's also my nephew's birthday, big boy turns 7 today! Both of these are partially responsible for this picture!

My initial idea was to have Jewel take all her friends to Overtale for a fireworks show, give the skelies something new to see. But damn it, baby goth won out, sorry. XD Especially since I'm basing baby Goth's infant personality on him. He was the sweetest, easiest baby ever. Only wanted cuddles... then he learned to walk, and omg. That is Goth. XD Also, my nephew is smart enough to make his teacher's assume that his mother is doing his homework during this pandemic. He figured out auto correct and spell check without anyone telling him and the teacher is frustrated because he fixes his work before turning it in and he can't really revise much because his spelling is correct. lol I very much feel like Goth would follow this trend. lol

The image itself is a photo being taken of a sweet family moment. Jewel is behind the camera, giving the family plenty of memories of the sweetest times in their life currently. She also made the cake. She was nice, no dye in the frosting so it didn't stain the onesie. lol

Baby Goth has to share the frosting/cake with Geno. (Don't worry, they have another one for the adults to have once baby is all tuckered out. Ya think Error would let Jewel make a chocolate cake and not make extra for him to steal?) Reaper is so, so tired from his job, but he made it for this and he couldn't be happier. He will crash after though, taking a nap with his beautiful baby while Jewel and Geno clean up. Sadly, not everyone can come to the Save Screen and party, but Jewel was sent with a bunch of gifts from all the other Sanses who got to know baby Goth while she was babysitting. Even Error made the baby something. XD Maybe one day I'll discuss the presents lol

My favorite tiny detail is the wedding ring on Reaper's hand. Geno's doesn't show, obviously, but due to Geno's status of being stuck, a "normal" wedding wasn't done for them. Once Jewel found this out, she was having none of it. Geno and Reaper deserved something! So she made this little special ceremony for them both, using the old vows that Reaper had done, but mixed it with something a little more modern.She even made them crystal wedding bands from her crystal. While Geno wears red, it isn't quite him, so the color went with blue. She swears she'll get them golden ones, but Reaper and Geno both agree they rather have the full crystal ones, they're special and no one else has them.

Still not sure on the design of the wedding bands, but... I'll mess with it later. It's far away, you're not going to get a lot of detail from a partially transparent crystal from a photo lol.

Encoded Prompts: Wednesday - A Welcomed Guest

You can find my Encoded AU on Fanfiction or AO3 ---- OMG, I freaking LOVE this one! It turned out so amazing and the colors were fun to work with. So many neutrals with accents and as always, the gold trim in their outfits is just way too much fun for me to work with. It took all my will to not give Jewel a black coat because normally that would be what she would wear but there was too much black on black so I went with an inverted color scheme from normal. Kept purple because Goldie was the one who picked out the jacket. He's still not thrilled she won't stray from the jeans, not even to slacks or at least something that accents her hips more, but he's working on it. One of these days he will get her into something more sexy and less casual. I love the shading, I love the line art... just... ugh! Why is LustGold my freaking muse, damn it? Not even my own AU, but damn it, I just love these characters, they make me wanna do more and they always turn out the best. ---- So, basically, the scene is when Jewel gets to go back to LustGold after a bit of time catching up with her other friends. She likes to visit them casually, kind of dropping by. She always brings gifts, which she's alluding to in the image. That "wait a moment" kind of deal, teasing them. Since they don't know any other humans, she likes to bring them stuff they wouldn't normally be able to get. Goldie, being a nerd and a rock collector, gets a lot of stuff made of the crystals her soul produces, especially in purple and blue. She's even made him a light-up Batman statue out of the stuff, since he's a bit of a nerd like her. Just a bunch of friends hanging out when they all have a moment. Encoded Prompts: Saturday - Abandonment

There's nothing worse than being abandoned by the father of a child. Except maybe if the child isn't yours. Especially if the child is chronically ill and may not make it through the first few months of their life. That's what's going on here. Now, before anyone says anything about baby Goth, his parents DID NOT abandon him. Jewel was adopted by Reaper years before most of the  multiverse existed. As you know, he's a very busy man, and he's been taking more work with Raps (Reaper Papyrus) watching Goth. So before PJ came around, Jewel offered to watch her little brother. Reaper was the one who found Paperjam and Jewel has been the one to take care of him. She didn't stop watching Goth because it was better for everyone, except maybe her once PJ's health concerns became apparent. But she never told anyone. Geno's constantly fatigued and Reaper's so busy. She often lets Goth stay with her for long hours so they could have some time alone together. And Goth is a very easy baby. All he wants to do is cuddle. So long as he's touching you, he's happy. He'll sit at her leg on the floor while she's fretting over PJ. And he loves his sissy. He's very worried about her, but he can't talk yet. He sees her so sad and all he wants to do is make her smile. Paperjam's health condition comes from the fact the determination that created him from the ink and strings of his fathers is dangerously low. He can't hold himself together. He had to use the determination he had while forming to escape the world he was in as Error destroyed it. He was found not long after by Reaper who called Jewel. They thought the poor thing just had a cold from exposure, but Jewel quickly figured out what was going on. Her empathy, purity aura, and healing magic are all that's helping this poor baby stay together. She's feeding the kid determination as much as she can. Her purity aura increases the baby's stats and her healing magic cures fatigue and temporarily settles his stomach to get some food. But he can't eat a lot at a time, and a hungry baby screams. Even more when they're sick. So the only time she gets any peace is the few minutes that PJ passes out. Goth gets all his cuddles in, but the poor baby is constantly vomiting up ink, spit up, and falling apart. Jewel has seen the strings that make up his structure more times than she cares to count and it terrifies her. As seen in the last one, Error just straight up ignores Paperjam's existence. Ink tries, but he's so easily distracted by other goings on in the multiverse, various projects, etc. He doesn't see Jewel's fatigue because emotionally, she's drained too, so he can't feel as much with her either. He at least provides things for her. Diapers, formula, bottles, clothes for her and the baby, anything she asks him for. He's even tried helping stabilize PJ's form but he can't keep it stable with his powers because PJ's not his conscious creation. PJ's determination is what is lacking. But the fact is, Jewel's left alone. Error has even banned her from the anti-void while she has PJ so she's living in this small house that Ink made for her in the doodlesphere to keep PJ contained, so it isolates her from Ink further. The sad part about all of this is... she has options. Jewel COULD go to Reaper and Geno. They wouldn't let her watch Goth if they knew, or have her at least stay with Geno in the Save Screen so she has someone to help her. Geno would never leave her to take care of a child like this alone. Even Red, of all people, would hang out and just keep an eye on the kids, watch TV and hold them while she takes a nap. Just someone to watch and call her if something happens. Dream's healing magic could help with PJ temporarily too, and you know Blueberry would be HAPPY to take Goth for everyone. He'd be the best babysitter ever! Sans would do whatever he could, king of lazy would help her get to sleep in a heartbeat, help her decompress. Jewel's just so used to dealing with her problems herself that she doesn't reach out to anyone. She doesn't feel like she could pawn her problems off on anyone. The only person she's ever truly leaned on was Reaper and that was when she was a child, and it's not like he can help with this. He can't hold PJ, can't take him. It takes her breaking down like this to go to Geno, asking him to watch the kids while she goes and to yell and emotionally beat down Error, and sort of yell at Ink. He at least did something. Encoded Prompts: Monday - Bewitched

So, I saw a list of prompts from someone I follow, from someone they follow. I have no idea who they are, and I’m sorry. If you know, tell me and I’ll link them... I guess? I have no idea, I’m still getting used to this site! 

I think theirs were for their AU at least... but I don’t know it. When I saw the prompts though, I started thinking of stuff from my AU, so I decided to use them for my AU Encoded. It’s a multiverse thing.

I’m also experimenting with shading, brushes, etc, so... forgive me.

In the image, Ink isn't colorless or anything, his eyelight is silver because of the Purity Aura Jewel is emitting. It's actually a battle-themed aura, it increases stats, etc. But it's comforting to those pure of heart. Ink isn't the purest, but he's already got some other things going on. With Jewel, in conjunction with his paints, he believes he can truly feel. This is due to her being an empath and able to project feelings onto people if she tries. With Ink, however, he's an empty vessel craving anything it can. Having nothing there, it strangely echoes through him and his paints only amplify the feeling. She doesn't actually force any emotion on him, it's just that when he's with her, he's drawn to the feelings she automatically projects as an empath. So when he's close to her, he feels what she does. It's strange and he doesn't understand it yet. It's kind of like a drug to him at this point. She's usually pretty happy with him, so he feels happiness, warmth... he hasn't been with her when she projects sadness yet. When she has been around while upset, others have been there too, which kind of acts like a buffer since their souls overpower his lack of one. He can't feel as much with others there. It's why he treasures having her alone with him. As Error put it, "she's his fix" and he doesn't know how to deal with it yet. So, basically, Ink is "bewitched" between her emotions and aura. He knows it, but he doesn't intend to stop it, so far as to asking her to activate it when he's near so he can be inspired. They spend a lot of time together in the doodlesphere just drawing now that Error's more comfortable with her doing so. There's just so much there and Jewel's finally able to get her muse back. It's been a few hundred years since she's really gotten to draw more than just angst-emotion fueled things.  So in a way, Jewel is bewitched by Ink as well. They're each other's muses.

Encoded Prompts: Friday - It Was An Accident!

---- Not the first time Ink's been to the anti-void but he definitely avoids it for obvious reasons. But when serious business comes around, even he can be focused. But that doesn't stop his fear from boiling up. No shadows, cuz anti-void. Plus, lazy lol. I didn't want to lose baby Paperjam to shadows. And OMG, I think I overdid Ink's satchel. I used more colors than even in his ref. ---- Baby Paperjam is sick, having had to use part of the determination that keeps them alive to escape the AU they were forming in when Error finally went and destroyed it. They were found by Reaper, who called Jewel since, well, death can't hold a baby that isn't his. She instantly knew something was wrong. They went to Geno first, science background still, and a parent. Jewel has never dealt with a monster baby while sick before. She's babysat Goth and all, but behavior-wise there's no difference. Health-wise, definitely. And Paperjam has the added complication of not being a normal monster. Geno, having determination, like Jewel, notices the soul pretty quickly. It's... such a strange situation. But basically, Paperjam is just having a hard time holding themselves together. (Part of my headcanon why the ink floats away from the form, not just a quirk like Error's glitch, cuz not biologically related at all. Ink's ink can be solid as it wants, but PJ is just not able to fully handle the determination, having lost some, so kind of just slowly bubbles. It gets better with age, but as a baby, PJ would float apart more, the only thing sticking together would be the strings making up their "bones". Jewel has to constantly support this baby, using empathy to help him feel determined to stay together, healing magic to heal physical fatigue that would make him fall apart, and just... try and get him to eat. He's so weak that even eating is almost impossible for the little baby. ---- The scene here is right after Jewel finds Paperjam. They're not fully aware of how sick PJ is. But Jewel saw the baby fall apart (scary in itself, and she's not in a good mood due to it.) She knows how the baby's made. She's been around these two for a long time, she's worked with Error's strings, she's LEARNED HOW TO UNDO THEM IF THEY'RE AROUND HER FINGERS. She's well-versed in their magic by now. Ink's instantly enthralled, tiny baby made of ink! But admittedly the sickness scares him. PJ is a novelty and Error's just nope-ing out of parenthood. He didn't make it, not his fault the kid exists. He made it on his own, the little brat can go through the same trials. Jewel is the only one taking this seriously, but at least Ink is TRYING. Jewel winds up being kicked out of the anti-void by Error when she refuses to give the baby up and she has to bunker down with Ink in the Doodlesphere, who is distracted and often leaves her alone with the baby. At least he provides all the things she needs, just a bit of ink and time, and he can make anything. Btw, the onesie PJ is wearing is actually Goth's. XD Little blue clouds on it lol He can't fit it anymore so Reaper brought it for PJ so the baby could wear something. Good Grandpa Reaper. Encoded Asks #8 - Annoyances

This one was harder than I thought it would be. I (and by extension, Jewel) am kinda of hard to annoy to the point I think of a person as annoying. But I did think Blueberry was the most annoying Sans when I first got into the fandom, and it's been references quite a bit through Encoded. But as I got to know him through various stories and comics, the little gremlin grew on me. XD He's now a favorite xD

Encoded Prompts: Tuesday - By Moonlight

Not sure how I feel about this. The poses were great, but they get lost in the dark shading. But it's night time, so... I dunno.

The scene is Jewel and Reaper are just kind of chilling in the moonlight with coffee. They're both coffee addicts. In fact, Jewel introduced Reaper to flavored coffee as he always just drank it black. After meeting her, he experimented more. This was back when she had her world. When she disappeared, well... his soul kind of shattered, she was "his little light", as he called her. From a young age she knew of him, never feared him, could see him when others couldn't and he just... got attached. He was always there when she really needed help. He even saved her life a couple of times (don't tell the others, ssh~) when she was suicidal. Of course, she's mortal, so he can't touch her. She loves nature, but he kind of wilts anything he touches and it makes him feel bad, so they tend to hang out in the city where there's not really anything for him to wilt. Rooftops were always a favorite since they could overlook everything and if he suddenly had to work, he could go and quickly come back.

Reaper's missed her like crazy. After she returned to her world after a hundred years, despite her soul never reaching his domain in some form (which was actually understandable, her soul is special and she broke out of the natural cycle by living when she was supposed to die, not his doing, btw. xD) she is very much mortal so the fact it was over a hundred years, Reaper thought for sure it had to be some weird coincidence, a reincarnation or something. But as the six years passed, he realized too late that it really was her. Somehow, she was alive, but by the time he realized it, she was gone again, as was her world. It broke him, he had the chance, but he was too afraid to even approach her. She never noticed him as he didn't go to her world as often anymore. It was too painful, everything reminded him of her. Not to mention the media of her and her "Magic mafia" from when she was a bank robber. He actually loved that bit, it was hilarious and... well... death follows destruction so he used it as an excuse to see her more. Despite how much it hurt that she was very much turning dark, she was still his little light and she didn't act different with him, not really.

It had been a full three-hundred some years since he had seen her, talked to her. He gave up trying to look for her, he couldn't find her, even with omnipresence. But as he passed out, standing up, waiting for one of his marks to kick the bucket. She saw him standing on the roof, and she smiled. She got them some coffee and she teased him with his old favorite. He smelled it through his dream and went to reach it, slowly waking up with the smell left and he heard, "Watch it there, Pops, I'm still very much a mortal."

His eye sockets shot open and he stared at her, just smiling at him. He had never wanted to hug someone more in his existence, but couldn't. So instead, he fell back easily into use blue magic on her and did what he could. A pseudo-magic hug. Something she learned to do with Error. All because of Reaper.

His little light. His adoptive daughter. Her guardian angel. Her adoptive father.

"I keep forgetting how tall you are now," a deep, haunting laugh escaped through his teeth.

"Eh, you're just shrinking, old man."

Encoded Prompts: Thursday - Change

So this is as much an excuse to design this outfit as it is for the prompt. I originally had NO idea except to show how Jewel has changed over her life, but then it came to me. Error's got the biggest aversion to change next to Jewel. Perhaps even more so. And with his outfit getting destroyed in like, chapter... what 13 and not letting anyone bother to make him a new one (Ink offered to replicate it, and he outright denied it) I figure, well... Jewel mentioned being able to make clothes early in the chapters when he made the plush puppet of her. Figured it was about time to focus on it! And if you read the latest chapters, while Jewel was in LustGold, she took advantage and started making a new outfit. However, it's not quite done. She feels it isn't... personal enough for Error so she waits until she can get some of his string to embroider it with, to make it more attached to him. The embroidery takes place after an issue that winds up revealing itself. So this outfit not only symbolizes a connection between them, but how they overcame the most difficult problem that could ever appear between them, and nothing else could drive them apart. Because this problem almost ended their friendship. As for the design... well, I wanted to incorporate hobo Error's design into it, but I also wanted to keep it different. Error starts out the story in his jacket and shorts as that was his original design. Hobo Error, however, is a design for an original story so as much as I like it, I didn't want to just... have him take that look either. So I sort of gave him a new outfit based on it. Don't worry, the scarf comes later. Jewel can't knit or crotchet, despite Error trying to teach her. Blueberry is going to make the scarf and Error will accept it as an apology and incorporate it into his outfit. Blueberry and Error will eventually become pretty good friends by the end of this, it's just... gonna take some talking. ---- The scene itself is right after Jewel presents him the outfit and he puts it on at her insistence (she looked away while he changed, of course, anti void has no walls, lol). It feels comfortable, but he's not sure exactly how he feels about it. It's a gift from her, and after their fight, so of course he wants to keep it, but it's different... She even made him a new shirt, plus the jacket and pants. (he still only has his slippers, lol) So as he's standing there, trying to figure out how he feels about it, Jewel turns and says what's in the bubble. Error starts glitching out, embarrassed, flustered. She's gotten into this habit of calling him her prince and it just stirs something in him. He feels undeserving of such a nickname and has tried to get her to stop, but she won't. Then to add in that she called him handsome with it? Yeah, he's about to crash lol. Too much change going on!
