I remember one time having a dream that a live action Undertale movie happened, and all of the characters that appeared were completely absent from the game. All except for Grillby. But then fucking Sans appears in a post credits sequence. There was a spotlight shining down on him and everything. Aside from all that, I remember literally jack fuck about the whole thing.

i always read it as like chilchuck is a quite serious individual in dungeon meshi but hes always underestimated because of his youthful appearance. and so forcing him to be dewey, a child character from a sitcom, is an extension of that. but then dewey himself has a very strong personality in the original so he has achieved meme status in like a shrek or sans undertale way, though of course on a much smaller scale. and there is also the element of the original fancast post playing an absurd choice in a very understated way, not even saying dewey as chilchuck, just chilchuck dewey. he immediately became his own entity. because of that the image of dewey seems to eclipse chilchucks own personality and they become a sort of ascended being together, fraught with contradiction, and because of that their unity radiates a strong compelling power. the widespread use of the chilchuck dewey image as an icon in certain circles on tumblr known for straight-faced, absurd posting, contributes to this image— the illusion of a being a common and venerated cultural presence, so long as you are within a very small target demographic, yet with very little behind it if you don’t have the context of knowing the people who created the original in joke. he becomes mysterious, seemingly popular overnight. all of these elements contribute to the enduring power, of chilchuck dewey, from my perspective

I finally actually watched an Undertale Let's Play. I know, seven or so years late, but still.

Anyway, since live action video game media seems to be a thing now, ya know, with The Witcher, and The Last of Us, and the FNAF movie that's coming out, I had a thought about Undertale.

Metatton fancast. If I had to cast that, you know who I would pick? Hear me out.

If you know the Undertale fans, you know they have a tradition of doing musicals about Undertale -- essentially, Undertale fancasting, but with all of the characters being the same age and having the same voice, and with the recording process being very toyetic -- "toyetic," for short.

They did a musical version of the Pokemon: The Movie 2000 mini-game "Detective Pikachu." They did a musical version of Powerpuff Girls: The Movie.

I've never seen any of them, but if any of them were done right, it would be very cool. If any of them were actually animated, it would be weirdly cool. It's like fanart, or fanfic, but since it's got all the same distinctive traits that made the original things so distinctive in the first place, you have the sense that it shouldn't be done, but as soon as someone takes the first step, the "shouldn't be" itself becomes as defined by the first step as everything else. (So the end result shouldn't be quite what you expected, but that's not a problem.)

Maybe I'm in a strange mood today, and maybe it's because I don't have much of a sense of humor, but for some reason I imagine this as a dynamic that keeps on repeating itself.

My name is Vex, but I’m also fine going by Souls. I’m an Aro/Ace individual who goes by any and all pronouns. I’m 16, so still a minor as of right now. I write in my free time because I find it fun! My favorite color is pink, so expect to see that a lot… it’s kind of a warning.

This blog is mostly where I post things involving my OC’s and such. I have a few, and I’ll list them all here! I should also mention that I sometimes ship my OC’s with canon characters. I don’t do this if the character has an actual confirmed lover in canon, and if I do, then I might not be aware of it or just don’t really like the ship. I do take requests, and if you’d like I can write stories about your characters, but I’ll mostly write things about mine.

HELP ME WITH MY FANCAST FOR THE UNDERTALE LIVE ACTION MOVIE THAT RIGHT NOW ONLY EXISTS IN MY HEAD

My list is very white. I realize that. With the exception of Idris Elba, all my choices are white actors. This does not need to be the case.

The only actor I will not budge on is Jack Black as Sans (though I am partial to John Mulaney as Papyrus and Kate McKinnon as Undyne as well, with a good argument I could be swayed another way).
