"Calm down Howard, go fetch the car!" 😂😂 Reposted from @tomhardyvariations "I THOUGHT I WALKED." #forrestandmaggie⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 🎬 Lawless (2012)⁣⁣⁣ Director: John Hillcoat @blankfilmsinc⁣⁣⁣ Screenplay: @nickcaveofficial⁣⁣⁣ DP: @benoitdelhomme⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Did you know? •Lawless takes place in Virginia, but was shot in Georgia for tax reasons. • Filming was from Feb-April 2011⁣⁣⁣ • The movie is based on real events, as explained in the 2008 book "The Wettest County in the World" by Matt Bondurant⁣⁣⁣ • Tom Hardy's character was originally supposed to be slimmer but Hardy had to bulk up for The Dark Knight Rises (2012).⁣⁣⁣ • Tom Hardy saw his character as a maternal figure and cited Granny, from the Loony Tunes series, as a role model.⁣⁣⁣ • Regarding a set altercation, Hardy told Den of Geek in 2011, “[LaBeouf] knocked me out sparko. Out cold. He’s a bad, bad boy. He is. He’s quite intimidating as well. He’s a scary dude. He just attacked me. He was drinking moonshine. I was wearing a cardigan and, er, went down.”⁣⁣⁣ • In Sept 2019 on “Hot Ones”, Shia LaBeouf said about the Hardy knockout story: “Yeah, it’s a bunch of bullshit. We used to wrestle all the time and [Tom's] a big fucking person, especially then. He was getting ready [to play] Bane. We used to fuck with each other all the time but it just so happened that, this one week, my girlfriend was in town and he runs into the room. The girl I was with at the time was terrified. She covered up and she ran into the kitchen and he picked me up and I didn’t have nothing on so now I’m naked on his shoulder. We’re in the hallway, we’re wrestling around.” The playful fight ended up near the top of a staircase, where Hardy stepped too far and fell down several flights. “For the rest of the shoot, he told everybody I knocked him out."⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ #tomhardy #jessicachastain #shialabeouf #jasonclarke #forrestbondurant #lawless #lawlessfilm #actor #violence #characteractor #underratedfilms⁣⁣ #Ilovethismoviesomuch - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/B9XaUnqgo6z/?igshid=yqw4tun6nwe1

A Knight's Tale is the peak of medieval action films and you can't convince me otherwise. It does what so many different pieces try to do: bring modern and comedic elements for today's audience to enjoy but still have you believing that it's the Middle Ages. You don't blink at the use of Queen or Chaucer's presenter style thoughts because it works. They create this atmosphere that perhaps this sort of music or speech could have been used then. Not to mention the pace is almost perfect. Will is a flawed main character. He is so driven with getting his dreams, in proving himself, that he forgets about things and can hurt the people around him. Yet he still eventually figures it out. Sees the wrong that he's done and doesn't forget, no matter what, who he is and where he came from. All the main characters are well fleshed out and you can completely understand their motives without having to know everything. This is partially to do with the fantastic writing but also the decisions of the actors. An incredible cast who do transport you back to that age. So many films have tried to create this style and have epically failed by taking themselves too seriously. Is it too much to ask for more perfect films like this?

Unpopular opinion but Enemy Mine is a SciFi classic, undeserving of the mockery it has received. Plus it is a loose adaptation of Hell in the pacific. #art #film #movies #cinema #geeks #nerds #SciFi #sciencefiction #retro #vintage #cultfilm #underratedfilms #scififan #space #war #warfilm

If You Meant To Kill Me (2014) directed by Widad Shafakoj
In Jordan, a woman threatened to get killed for honor can only be saved if she surrenders and is killed, or if she seeks protection from authorities that can offer her nothing. This is a film that talks about three women who have been imprisoned for their protection in Jordan, why and how they got to prison, and how this -unethical- shelter has changed their lives. All women have been detained under Jordanian laws that breach Jordan's human rights' agreement. Selected experts talk about the legal and humane aspects of this case, along with some reenactments that portray the horror these women lived before, during, and after going to prison.

#MovieoftheDay: Inside Moves (1980) After Roary (John Savage), a troubled veteran, unsuccessfully attempts suicide, he finds a social outlet at Max's Bar, populated by a family of misfits and tended by Jerry (Robert Morse), whose dreams of playing pro basketball are frustrated by a limp. Things look up, however, when a team sponsors surgery for Jerry in exchange for a playing contract, and Roary starts dating waitress Louise (Diana Scarwid). But Jerry, embarrassed by his old friends, avoids them, while Roary's shame over his own troubles causes problems between him and Louise. There's a happy ending, but the film doesn't take the easy route to it. For a long time, I only knew of this film as being the second film appearance of Harold Russell, the WWII vet who lost his hands and won two Oscars (one an honorary award) for essentially playing himself in The Best Years of Our Lives. The film has an additional minor claim to fame--Scarwid was nominated for a Supporting Actress Oscar--but it's largely languished in obscurity since its release. Which is a damn shame, because it's a tremendously likable little film, propelled by a great ensemble. Savage takes a risky role that could have been full of self-conscious tics and makes it warmly human, while Morse--a hugely underrated actor making his debut here--displays the amiable warmth and emotional conflict which have marked his best performances since, and never misses a step in playing Jerry's unusual but engaging journey. Scarwid's is a lovely, lively presence; her nomination was well-deserved. Richard Donner is best known for action and fantasy films, but here proves quite adept at low-key comedy. The fine, funny script by Valerie Curtin and Barry Levinson helps a great deal as well--for all the emotional drama on display, it's a very funny film, but never in a way that feels silly or cheap. "Warm" is the word for Inside Moves. Seek it out. Give it a chance. #InsideMoves #RichardDonner #JohnSavage #DavidMorse #DianaScarwid #HaroldRussell #80sfilms #underratedfilms

Day 22. Most Underrated Film. Brick. Directed by Rian Johnson this contemporary example of a film noir moves at breakneck pace with its dialogue, and additionally features the role that turned me into a Joseph Gordon-Levitt fan. It has all the elements of a good noir from the use of light and shadow to the femme fatale (played wonderfully by Nora Zehetner). Brick brings all the things classic cinema fans love about the films based on Dasiell Hammett's novels. #30daymoviechallenge #brick #josephgordonlevitt #norazehetner #filmnoir #highschool #underratedfilms #rianjohnson
