Guess who finally made one of these things
You aren't allowed to kill me for Pokemon Shield being my favorite mainline Pokemon game or not playing any other whatever the plural of series is
Also I'm pretty much just putting Undermine on "you love everyone hates" because it only has very positive reviews on Steam and a lot of games I play have overwhelmingly positive and I really like Undermine
Also Celeste gets that place 25% because Wandersong already got one and 50% because of the B-side Reflection (which I mixed up with the Mirror Temple music when I first posted this) sobs)
Also you have not LIVED until you have experienced being a small child and going to a cool place nearby and hunting for Pokemon with your stepdad

You're President Snow and it's the 50th Hunger Games and you're like ok cool big one quarter quell big deal for sure for sure, twice as many tributes, probably someone from the 1st or 2nd districts will win but it'll be more exciting, and there's this one tribute from really the worst district out there who refuses to try to kill people and you're like ok well he'll be killed soon I hope, and then somehow everyone else keeps murdering each other but this one boy keeps surviving because he just refuses to interact with the other tributes and you're like hmm we should get on that but we probably have time and you get distracted by the other events and then the numbers keep dwindling and dwindling and this boy btw he holds his friend as she dies, so sad, so emotional, it's fine we can switch cameras and all but there are now only like two tributes left and one of them??? is that weird pacifist district twelve kid? hello? the whole point of this year of games was for additional violence and he's still here? and then he wins and he barely even does it on purpose he just uses the forcefield he doesn't even fight and you have to go and congratulate him on winning and your whole special year is ruined by this teenager. Anyway Haymitch winning must have been a real kick in the teeth.

(idk if anyone wants to keep hearing my opinions on totk book stuff but-)
apparently it says that rauru DID have kids, multiple even, which yeah... is kinda necessary for zelda to even be connected to them so much so that sonia can SENSE a blood connection (which, even with all the excuses with magic, is just a little too far for me to suspend my disbelief bc its over, OVER, ten thousand years worth of generations that seperate her from them that one lil touch of the hand can sense that (feels more like an attempt to make you care about them or .. see them as zeldas "better" parents just bc they exchange a few nice words, i never got the feeling they were 'better' parents and its also kinda disrespectful to her actual parents, like sure rhoam wasnt the best but i wouldnt call rauru better just bc he was polite)- i could see maybe the light power of hylia or sth but since its the coolest dude that ever lived rauru now that had it which still doesnt make sense and makes me unreasonably annoyed and she can sense BOTH of their powers in her? nah) the fact theres NOTHING about them in the game itself is just so ... no way they planned any of this
i dont think theres anything they can do or say that wont make be believe they either
are making it up alla 'fix it in post' mentality trying to hastily explain stuff the game never bothers to do to try and appease fans or let it appear as if they thought about it at all
something went really REALLY wrong during development, which kinda seems likely given how the game turned out (im sorry i cannot let go, its not just the writing, the game design too and how little was changed in the map while being so damn expensive, i dont know how people dont feel scammed q_q)
given that they (allegedly) spent the last entire year of development on polish (where??? where????? huh??? like it would make it more understandable (EXCEPT for the price) if there was alot of trouble, which was also bc it got delayed and ... turned out like this, but they dont want to say it, especially given their reputation, with that quote i have heard way too many times 'a delayed game blah blah') i just??
are they just gonna go and do it like they did with kashiwa (kass)? "they uuuh where flying around the whole time ony cool sonau tech maschines, you just dont see or hear from them ooooorrr they were uuuuh out of the country at the time" (sending invitations to other continents to join their glorious kingdom ;) )
(bet they are also gonna say they did all the stuff like ... moving the shrines around (lol?) and lifting the islands up into the sky- which is still weird bc ... didnt they also say they were living in the sky before coming to the surface?? so where?? did they park all their islands on the surface and the mystery kids had the keys so they had to repark them back into the sky after they returned off camera?? xD also why are the islands so different as an environment if they where from the surface? like even the STONE up there is different- and if they were first in the sky then on the surface and the nback in the sky .. why is there not a single yellow tree or grass in the past- you cant really argue that it changed bc they were up there so long bc .. nothing else changed, the suddendly and totally always there sonau buildings are largely in prime condition, only some slightly moldy, and what we see of the glorious past looks barely any different from the present, aside from like ... some standard trees shuffled, no castle yet and that glowy uwu filter DESPITE that stupidly long time frame between it)
#ganondoodles talks#zelda#ganondoodles rants#idk if others feel like that too but i cant shake the feeling there was something that either went horribly wrong during development-#-or the entire thing was neglected the whole time which is why its so .. i hesitate to even call it bare bones#...which is WILD given that its the supposed sequel to their best seeling zela game#like wtf where you doing#i get that the pressure can be immense but imo it wasnt that hard to make a sequel to thats better than totk#like i think it was harder to make totk like it is NOW bc it scraps and throws away so many things you could have easily used-#-as sequel material#its all so weird to me#my tin foil hat theory is still that they saw the success of the mario movie and immediately shifted everything to make more movies#bc it made so much money#and a movie is easier to make than a good game#so totk or botw2 at the time got the short end of the stick#which is why everything feels like .. so ... bare bones .. untested .. unfinished .. non sensical...#like an alpha build that got enough visual polish to look like a full game when its still an alpha build at its core#some main ideas like the abilities implemented and the basic map layers#mechanics functioning but untested on how it feels to play#like the sage controls and arrow fusing and ... contradictory game mechanics that dont work together#like the bulding WORKS but its clunky and underused- everything can be cheated so easily you dont even feel good cheating-#-bc it feels like the teacher just allowed you to mark your test with a green circle and you still got an A (or however USA grades work)#despite not even reading the questions- why attempt to solve a puzzle if you can just skip it#and how they tell you to be creative with it yet creativity gets punished and only efficiency is rewarded#which completely undermines the entire thing#...theres so much more you know i have ranted about it all before#ALSO rauru and sonia seemed like a rather newly wed couple to me- not one that had multiple kids that never appear-#since it only mentions rauru ..... if its only his then ... that doesnt explain anything bc zelda needs both sonia and rauru dna#................do sonau leave eggs to incubate somewhere heavenly or sth#watch out the springs where built to hatch rauru eggs bc they need the gods holy blessing bc they are oh so holy to hatch

Okay so question for the HOTD fandom, as this thought process has been circling in my mind for a while but: wouldn't it have been better for Rhaenyra, as well as Jace and Luke, if she...stopped having kids after them? By that I mean, if you already gave birth to two kids who don't resemble your husband, who already have to carry a heavy burden of being obvious bastards to those around them with their only saving grace, for lack of better words, being the fact that their dragons hatched in the cradle, and you yourself have to deal with the heavy pressure that resulted from this decision (which, I understand as her choices were limited...in a way), why have Joffery, who would only raise the scrutiny? Then, on top of that, why would you also have kids with Daemon, a literal blood supremacist (who questions your rule at every turn), that now makes it even more obvious the situation that Jace and Luke have to go through? Like, am I overthinking or would this have been a better option for Rhaenyra, as well as Jace and Luke?

i've seen people leaning heavily into the watcher lore say that scar's win was all orchestrated and endorsed by the watchers, that he's their favourite and they wanted him to win and now he can be theirs - but isn't it cooler, doesn't it make more sense if he won in spite of the watchers? they've been trying to fuck up all his plans the whole season, they've done their best to make everyone hate him, and he still came out with alliances at the end. they tried to make him a villain, and he succumbed and embraced it, but still showed goodness in the end when he refused to let pearl sacrifice herself - and that's why he won. not because he did what the watchers wanted him to, but because he went against the big plan and won all on his own merit. he didn't win because the watchers like him, he won because of his own quirks and strengths that he used to his favour. he won because he's scar and he doesn't follow the rules and is simply good enough at the game to win.
i don't know, i just. the idea of everything being under the watchers' control and there being no real free will in the series is an interesting one, but a) as many have mentioned, this is the season of defying curses and character development, and b) scar is not just a toy for the watchers to play with. he's a person and the reason why he won is not because grian or anyone else wanted him to, it's because he's bloody good.

the gender politics in persona five are so fucking real. ann is hesitant to do modeling full time because she’s victim blaming herself for what happened with kamoshida. ryuji obliviously mentions that ann is missing out on going for a communal bath, forgetting it’s not mixed bathing. yusuke and morgana both put her up on a pedestal-- yusuke seeing her as one of the muses of old, morgana seeing her as not just a love interest but as proof that he’s human, that he can be loved back by a human, and she’s just an object of his desire.
makoto and sae especially-- sae wants her sister to seek power specifically because she’s a woman, because she knows how hard it is to be respected as a woman in this world and wants makoto to have the best chance possible, even though it’s only making makoto miserable to try and play respectability politics in a game where no one gives a damn about her genuine desire to help people. and it raises the question-- how long can people take advantage of her altruism before she gives up on it, before it’s easier to just be bitter and uncaring like she pretends? the road to power is a long one. she’s already tired.

I think one of my biggest critiques about Catching Fire as a movie is that there’s entirely too much Gale in it. And I’m not just saying this as a Peeta Girlie, I’m saying this because Gale’s palpable absence is so strong at the beginning of the book that it’s a presence within and of itself and that’s central to the first part of the story!! The fact that Peeta is there when Gale isn’t is key to showing How The Games Have Effected Katniss!!
Katniss is experiencing this meteoric rise in economic class practically overnight. She’s gained an immense amount of privilege, relatively speaking, at an immense cost (the trauma of the Games, the damage to her emotional and mental well-being, the damage to her sense of self, the increased risk that immediate harm might come to her family and loved ones). She’s realizing that she really was part of her community before the Games by virtue of being distanced from that same community now. Because that’s what the Games, and the resulting class hyper-mobility, did to her: it’s set her apart from her peers. And Gale being absent is part of that. She doesn’t have to go to school. She doesn’t have to hunt or trade at the Hob. She doesn’t have to join the district’s industry. But Gale does have to do all those things. It’s why they only ever see each other on Sundays, the one day of the week he isn’t in the minds. It’s why they have increasingly little to talk about when they do meet, because their lives are so vastly different now and because the things that do occupy Katniss’s days are things generally related to her stratospheric class leap and/or the horrific cost of that leap, things she either doesn’t want to talk about or straight up can’t talk about.
She’s had this seismic shift in her life that’s detached her from her world and turned her into an island. Peeta and Haymitch (and to a lesser degree her mom and Prim) are the only ones that have been metaphorically cast out to sea like her. That’s why they’re a constant presence in the beginning of the book when Gale is not. And that’s why adding in scenes with Gale to the beginning of the movie (or keeping in scenes with Gale at the cost of like. literally every other thing that happens in that part of the book, including all the time she spends with Peeta and the others) undermines that point.

heyyyy~ poses on the floor sexly.
Do you ever think about how Roach didn't immediately die from his wounds back in the original mw.
Do you ever sit down and think about Roach, laying down on the floor bleeding out, helpless, having to watch his soulmate (his other half, the love of his life (so much more than romantic love, so much farter from platonic love, so much them), his Ghost) die instantly by the gun shot wound.
Do you stare at the wall and imagine Roach still having time to feel agony and grief, even while in pain, even if short, even as he bleeds out himself, even as he gets drenched in gasoline and consumed by fire.
Maybe he had time to caress Ghost's unmovable cheek one more time. Maybe he took his glasses and closed his eyes for his own peace of mind and for the deep respect he felt for the man. Maybe he cried his final tears not because of his own pain or for his own death but because Ghost went first.
He left first.
Because I sit down sometimes and I think about how Roach didn't die right away. And it seemed like the universe looked at him and laughed because Ghost died instantly. Like a cruel joke.
A final fuck you to him.
Roach didn't die immediately. He could've maybe tried to get away, maybe get a knife and kill Shepperd. Get revenge. Proceed with the mission. Use Ghost's radio and warn the others- But no, he stayed, watched tiredly, that sick fuck turn away after taking everything from him, watched Ghost's lifeless body singe, watched as the flames consumed his own flesh and tried to burn him before he succumbed to his own wounds.
Him and Ghost became, together, the ashes that later fed the land and grew the greanest grass.
Price and Soap probably didn't even have enough of them bodies to put on a casket.
They, together, will be on that field forever.

I'm now realizing that if you stop playing a game for like a month and then come back to it in the middle of what you were doing you will have no idea what you're doing

Genuinely love how reading the Space Pirate logs in the Prime games is an ongoing emotional seesaw between "hahaha that's kinda fucked up" and "oh. Oh wow, that's... kinda fucked up."

"They didn’t just go after Jewish targets...Amazingly, they also attacked the Jordanian and Palestinian Authority UN missions, probably the two most important official venues in New York City for promoting the Palestinian cause, but both opposed by...Hamas and PFLP."
Hate and violence are not activism. All this does is undermine and smear the efforts of REAL activists working towards peaceful and equitable solutions and focusing their efforts on helping vulnerable people rather than spreading bigotry and fear.
Some people in the West seem focused on using this conflict as an excuse to form violent mobs and don't seem to know the first thing about true activism and, just like Hamas, apparently don't actually care about Palestine and are just using the suffering of the Palestinian people to further their own hateful goals. Hamas has brutally oppressed the people of Gaza since seizing control following Israel's withdrawal in 2005.
People who care about supporting Hamas or who just want to use allegedly "supporting Palestine" as an excuse to attack and harass Jews are despicable and are an insult to all Palestinian people and to the work of the true activists working to help Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank. Supporting Hamas is not the same as supporting Palestine and anyone who claims otherwise is just supporting oppression and making things worse.

No joke, the thing I’m most looking forward to when I graduate and have a job is just buying books again. The luxury. Having a book forever instead of having to return it to library. Not having to wait weeks for a hold. Imagine.

Edgeworth becoming a lawyer at 20 and Franiziska becoming a lawyer at 13, with about a 7 year age difference between them... that implies they passed the bar exam in the same year
did they take the same exam? did 20 year old Edgeworth drive his tween prodigy sister to take the bar exam with him? and before that, did he drive her to the same law school they both went to every day? did they compete to see who would pass the bar first? and when they both passed and tied, Franziska definitely still held the fact that she got it at 13 over him. "What were you doing at 13, little brother? Not passing the bar, ha, embarrassing." wtf are the implications of this
