i have a dumb plot bunny in my brain that wont go away

sometime like. i guess before the war a member of house dres sees nerevar and decides to take nerevar as his concubine. nerevar the whole while is trying to think of a way out of it, looking for an escape plan that will actually keep him free. hes drinking or using skooma to cope with the shit in the mean time. all the while voryn has been looking for him

voryn eventually hears a rumor that a dres nobleman has a concubine that seems to match nerevar's appearance. going to his home sure enough, its nerevar. in a rage he ends up just poisoning the guy and taking nerevar while nerevar is intoxicated/passing out. back at kogoruhn a few recall spells and teleportation later, nerevar wakes up thoroughly annoyed because if it was that easy he would have done it months ago. now house dres is gonna know voryn was the last guy to see that nobleman alive AND nerevar is missing. but with some more thinking he has them fake documents that nerevar was 'bought' by voryn as thats prob the only way they are gonna let this go

queue nerevar and voryn having to act as lord and concubine. its a careful little dance theyre both playing, trying hard not to slip up. people from house dres KNOW they were friends, and are trying to catch them in the act as proof the guy was murdered specifically by voryn to free nerevar rather than "happened to die by completely chance after he sold off his favorite concubine sex slave"

theres scheming and planning from nerevar. along with a lot of 'practice'. that both of them enjoy far too much. fake punishments, illusion magic to make nerevar look bruised, etc etc. nerevar and voryn both feelings ashamed theyre way too enjoy the act when they're supposed to be 'friends' who are 'forced to act like this'. and ofc hushed whispers where they reassure the other and feel comfort holding the other at night (just because thats how a lord and his new favorite concubine would sleep. obv. the fact they are secretly in love with the other cant be revealed)

Okay about the whole king and fake concubine thing. My brain read it and I just... What if Anakin was the King, and Cody was the fake concubine. (But like, actually fake no pining.)

Creep/advisor Palpatine has been subtly blocking any promotions of clones, and Anakin is just so fed up with having all this damn paperwork, and the strategy meeting are <i>endless</i>.

So he begs Rex for help, and Rex panics and throws Cody under the bus. Cody has had it up to here with these idiots, but anything to help win this damn war faster.

The thing is though, THE THING IS, Anakin decides they can't tell anybody. Including his Advisor/Older brother/whatever Obi-Wan. Becauae uptight "regulations are there for a reason, Anakin" would totally have a problem with these shenanigans.

So Obi-Wan's commander gets transfered out from under him, and nobody will tell him why. And he's silently fuming about having to waste time at this stupid strategy meeting (him and Cody could come up with better in 10 minutes).

And he walks in, and there's Cody. Dressed like a concubine. Sitting in Anakin's lap (Cody wasn’t thrilled to discover it's a lot easier to whisper ideas like this.)

And now I just want to know your ideas for the whole thing I guess, because you're amazing and all of your work is lovely.

Also I just created a tumblr and am trying to figure this out, sorry for any blunders. Oh, and I need to say Okay for public? I think?

Oooooooooooooh! Obi-Wan is like... a General in Anakin’s army? Maybe THE General, in this au? (Little does Anakin know that Obi-Wan lives on shenanigans of one kind or another...) itsatrap.png :D A slow-burn where everyone else THINKS they’re already together is one of my favorite things. There’s something so pleasing about the dramatic...irony? Of such a thing. Everyone outside of their relationship making all kinds of assumptions (that they feed) while they slowly get closer....

3. Do you prefer canonverse or AUs?

When it comes to writing them myself, I prefer AUs. I do like stealing from canon, but in a “I broke in your house at night and got all the good stuff” kind of way. I like the flexibility of AUs, and also the many different ways you can explore different worlds and situations.

When it comes to reading, though, I have no particular preference. Then it’s really more about style or actual content that makes me go for one or the other.

8. Bed sharing or roommates AU?

Both is very good! I’ve never written an actual roomate AU, but I’ve read and liked them in the past. :D But bed sharing... *chef’s kiss* is there anything better than pining for each other while literally lying next to each other???

9. Fake dating or arranged marriage?

Both is good but I have to give it to arranged marriage. Like. You have committed your life to this relationship that you might not even want, and the drama of that just GETS me. And it can be written in so many different ways! Lots of pining! Trying to navigate a relationship that’s made difficult by politics or other factors! Ye olde “you can take a concubine/lover, I don’t mind” trope??? Hell yes!! Here for it.

It’s almost funny I’m so obsessed with it, because in real life, I’m a very, very staunch opposer of forced marriage, and personally I’m not a fan of marriage at all.

10. Mutual pining or enemies to friends to lovers?

Oh goood. I want to write an enemies to lovers fic one day, but UGH. I’m not sure I’m actually able to write the enemy part very well. In any case, I like both. There is nothing that beats the pining, though. I am a pining person. Even if it’s enemies to lovers, if they’re not pining a lot, it won’t be good.

It’s all about them soft, longing touches and gazes. *takes out handkerchief*

11. Kid fic or childhood friends?

I have definitely written more kid fic than childhood friends. I find childhood friends rather difficult to write, maybe also because none of my own childhood relationships have survived into adulthood. Thinking about that topic makes me actually uncomfortable (and it’s soooo stupid that I write this) because it makes me think of missed chances and lost possibilites. So, kid fic it is.

12. Friends with benefits or secret dating?

Secret dating can be very fun, and I’ve definitely written it before, but friends with benefits is so good because of the PINING. I think anyone who has read any of my recent fics is aware that I LOVE writing two people pining for each other while they’re literally fucking. Also pining people who insist they’re not in love and this is all casual. So good.

13. Exes or established relationship?

Ack. So, exes can be really good it it’s a well-written fic, but I generally operate under the assumption that you’re exes for a reason. The relationship didn’t work out, yadda yadda, you need a really good reason to give a second try for me personally. So I’m leaning more towards established relationship fics.

On the other hand, many established relationship fics focus on really critical issues inside the relationship (instead of conflicts on the outside of the relationship that the couple faces together), so that I sometimes find works like that rather problematic. Like if it makes me doubt this relationship is a good one and doesn’t really make me want to root for the couple, then I gotta say no dice, I’m out of here.

But if either is written well, hell yeah, give me a load of each.
