Jeg synes det er forvirrende at nogen folk siger hvad de mener, når de bliver vrede og kede af det og andre folk siger ting de ikke mener. Fordi de vil gøre andre vrede og kede af det. Så jeg har meget svært ved at tilgive når folk siger slemme ting i affekt, hvis ikke det har rod i andet end lysten til at hævne sig eller nedgøre eller etablere dominans. Måske fordi jeg selv gør mig så umage med ord. Har lyst til at vreden skal være konstruktiv, for ellers kan den snitte dybe sår på tværs af tid og rum… og det er ikke konstruktivt for nogen som helst relation? Måske det også fylder fordi jeg er vokset op med at det har voldsomme konsekvenser, at sige ting i affekt… i hvert fald hvis jeg gør det. Er vokset op med raseri. Hvor jeg var målskiven. En passiv målskive. Sådan vil jeg ikke have at andre skal have det i nærheden af mig. Og jeg kan ikke lide mig selv når jeg bliver vred. Så jeg vil hellere fjerne mig fra situationen og gennemskue min reaktion, for ellers ender jeg pr default med at fawne for sygt. Og miste mig selv. Og blive mega forvirret. Det synes folk tit er umodent eller provokerende. At jeg sætter mig ned, mens jeg bliver råbt af. Eller at jeg græder og stormer væk, hvis bølgerne virkelig går højt. Jeg vil bare hellere trække mig, end jeg vil ende med at sige noget jeg ikke mener. Eller at sige noget jeg mener, og så få dolke stukket ind i sjælen af et vredt menneske man elsker. Is this referring to the new kisses by chance? Because I've only heard people experiencing problems with those and if it's about that...it's a bit iffy. On my non modded runs everything works perfectly if I don't 'activate' my mods, then if I do turn them on, the new kisses sometimes don't proc and sometimes they do and that's for both my modded and umodded runs. I would sometimes not get any of the new kisses on the same playthrough on random saves while simultaniously they would also work on that same run but on a different save 😭

I do think that Larian is doing a lot for us tho, we've only paid once and they keep pumping out content and patches like crazy, FOR FREE. If I compare this to any of the other games I play, it's just mind-boggling how good they treat their community...

Capturing the ambience of Rogue Squadron 3D

This guide details how to get the best rendering experience on the GOG release.

Widescreen / Resolution

There are a number of solutions to customize (increase) the rendering resolution and change the aspect ratio. Some only alter in-mission rendering, while others extend to the game's mission-select and hangar menus.

Sadly all of the aspect ratio solutions I found only affect rendering, and hence lead to culling issues at the edges of the scene. This is most noticeable during missions.

Hex-editing Rogue Squadron.EXE

You can alter resolution and aspect ratio by editing Rogue Squadron.EXE. For aspect ratio go to offset 16E042. It should have the value AB AA AA 3F, the little endian hex representation of 1.33333. Change this to 3B 8E E3 3F for 16:9 and save the file. This affects missions and menus.

To alter RS's 640x480 resolution option to use 1920x1080 instead, override the 12 bytes at offset 201D5C with: 80 07 00 00 38 04 and save. This only affects missions.

DgVoodoo

This changes the resolution of level and fighter-selection menus. Therefore you can combine this with the aspect ratio hex-edit above for ideal rendering, at least for screenshot purposes.

(Not) Removing the HUD

My first approach was to try extracting RS's assets from the game's archives, modifying any HUD textures, and then repacking the results into those archives. For this goal I found quite a few tools that were made as part of a reverse-engineering effort. But sadly, these tools either didn't work for me or didn't help my goals. I found a QuickBMS script for Factor 5 games but it didn't sound like it applied to Rogue Squadron 3D.

The project was partly inspired by an older program called RogueDAT which worked for me on Windows XP. While RogueDAT is read-only, perhaps you could use the offset and size information provided by this program to delete the game's fonts and/or UI textures, and see what happens.

My second idea was to replace RS's textures at runtime using a tool like uMod (aka TexMod) or Resorep. The former seems to only work with DirectX 9, whereas RS will be using DirectX 11 if we're running it with DgVoodoo (and obviously a much older version of DirectX without). I didn't try Resorep.

Unlocking content

You can access the hidden Buick by editing RS's files as the KOELSCH password does not work on the Windows release. Be sure to run roguecar to toggle the Buick and roguedit to enable the relevant password.

To play all of the game's missions you can use cheats, download a completed save file, or use a save editor.

N64 Version

To my surprise, this release looks basically identical to the Windows one. You can use GlideN64 with a custom texture pack to hide the HUD, and Adjusted Widescreen mode to adjust the aspect ratio. It's also a bit easier to unlock content in this version.

Appendix 0: Windowed mode

You can run RS via DxWnd. Drag Rouge Squadron.EXE into DxWnd's window to begin the config process. After saving this, you can launch via the command line like so: dxwnd.exe /r:0

Appendix 1: Other widescreen solutions

nGlide

Glide's graphic APIs arguably result in a better-looking image than DirectX's. Similar to DgVoodoo, this wrapper offers a way to execute older graphics APIs on newer systems.

While there are detailed guides out there; I found setup very simple: just install nGlide, run the configuration program, and then choose Glide in RS's launcher.

Sui's Widescreen Fix

Download the fix and extract it to your ROGUE folder. Edit the INI file(s) as desired. I believe this fix is built upon ThirteenAG's widesceen fix platform.

However I couldn't get it working - I didn't see any resolution change, or new choices in the resolution options menu. Perhaps it requires Steam.

rkkoszewski's All-In-One

This successfully patched my in-mission aspect ratio, but not my resolution as claimed. Perhaps it also requires Steam.

Universal Widescreen Patcher

This program provides a way to edit resolution values with a simple GUI, versus using a Hex editor. Use uniws with the following in your patches.ini:

Got asked this one a couple times, so I guess that's gonna be a couple outfits! For the first one we'll go with an umodded outfit that she wears really often in game! This is one of her bard glams.

Malika wears a lot of short skirts with thigh highs and these boots (the Antiquated Storyteller boots) are seriously my favorite. I put the rest of the outfit together based entirely on wanting to wear those boots because I love their red undersides! Thank you for the Ask!

I am so bad at mgs2. Like VERY BAD. And I am playing on easy. It’s been a while since I played single-player stealth games. (Otakon would facepalm from how bad I am, but he is a patient boi and helps my stupid ass to get out of trouble T_T). Also..my version of the game would not allow me to install mods, so I might find some other one compatible with uMod (you know what mode I am talking about - the one with Raiden’s naked hips) 

Chapter 11 of Sleepless in Denver is in progress. I am thinking of combining it into two parts - the first one more serious and other one - quite NSFW spicy smut (yet again I am so scared to write intercourse in details so it would not be so cringe I need someone’s support and beta-reading for this). Also thumbs up to that person commenting and people leaving kudos.

um, i'll be going over the three things 5up discussed on his stream (x)

1. the jackbox thingy

fundy made some really inappropriate jokes about unconsensual sexual activities in a jackbox stream. he then prepared a stream to apologize for it, which i think he handled pretty good. i think by context alone you can tell that these are edgy jokes shared between friends, except that fundy forgot that the whole thing was being shared on a public platform lol. although he didn't have bad intentions, it was clearly an insensitive thing that he shouldn't have said on stream and he apologized accordingly.

2. the gorilla joke

here video. this one is the one that people reference the most to my knowledge, and it happened that in one stream that fundy is having a humorous convo with phill, he brings up how people will make stupid noises to imitate a gorilla and then he goes on to say that it's "racist". i get how it's easy to take it away from context but people don't take into account that english is not fundy's first language and he's from the netherlands too. this clip shows that there's other occasions in which fundy has referred to certain animals as "races". it's just him using the unfortunate example of a gorilla for it, which is usually used as a caricature to discriminate against black people. but context of the thing shows that he was humorously indicating that the imitation of the animal was so bad that it was "offensive" - again, there's a thing called a "hyperbole" and it's also a funny manner of speech.

intentions wise, it's clear that he never referred to black people in the first place (story had absolutely nothing to do with them in any way) and it takes like one minute to understand where he's coming from. however, it's really easy to twist this clip to mean what you want it to mean so, eh, unfortunate.

3. interjects/systems and fundy's discord

it was really hard to find proof for this on for some reason??? but here is what i found. basically, mods in fundy's discord made a rule against people with DID/OSDD to take roles of fundy and various other content creators. the argument of why it was wrong is that of course, you cannot expect people who suffer from DID and OSDD to have some sort of control over their alters. moreover, the mods made this rule upon an outburst of people who claimed to be systems as well, which people read as pointing fingers at systems and saying that they're only doing it for the trend. i think... this issue is particularly nuanced and there's not really a definite answer about it. the rules are there to make modding easier and assure a better discord for everyone involved, but the way some things were worded make it seem like they're treating DID as a new twitter trend. however, i believe what they mods said about the spike of people using alters on discord roles and names, and it's tricky to know who's doing it because they effectively suffer of the disorder, or if it's people who simply do it because they think it's fun. even things like self-diagnosing are tricky to discuss and have in mind when it comes to these things.

in the part of "hey how does this relate to fundy", i read that he's treated systems as "twitter trends" himself... which i honestly believe it's a reach because otherwise i would've found something about it lol. his behavior about his mods has been of ignoring the situation and umodding other people for other reasons/situations, at least that's what i read and what i'm inclined to believe is closer to the truth. certainly it's not something that pertains to fundy himself but more of the people he's allowed to mod his discord, which ....eh. if people want to cancel fundy, they'll take anything they can. right off the bat, calling the mods "ableist" is a reach and it doesn't help at all to actually find a solution to this entire situation.
