ok I had to rewatch some of bedrock.zip, but I remembered the scene of Zee jumping to his death to get out of the room he got stuck in and it inspired me. this is really like. idk. a look into his headspace in that scene y'know? I hope it's alright :')

He jumps. He hits the bedrock ground. His leg smarts. His shoulder stings. He climbs back up to the highest point of the room, boots crunching cobblestone and blood rushing through his ears.

The bottom of this makeshift staircase taunts him. He climbs up the cobblestone knowing this place is watching him.

Is it watching him?

Is it relishing in his frenetic footsteps, the way his body groans and crumbles with each jump?

Does it even care? Do predators feel pity for the small, trembling animals they play their games with?

He's not going to let it sink its teeth into his mind. He's going to find whatever trick it's turning, he's going to find Veil, he's going to—

He jumps. He hits the bedrock ground. He huffs and gasps. It hurts. He struggles to the first cobblestone step.

The walls whisper. It's not whispering like the typical kind, it's not a voice he hears murmuring and moaning. It's like static. It's like a ghost trying to use a broken radio to talk.

He crawls up the steps. He doesn't listen. He knows he is ascribing higher meaning to something that may well just be holding him in its claws.

He doesn't even know what it wants. Does it want anything? Does it want him?

He jumps. He hits the bedrock ground. Something is broken. He has to lose everything to this room if he wants to keep going, and God, he wants to keep going. It's harder to get to the cobblestone this time.

The staticky noise never leaves, but it intensifies in waves. It may just be his heartbeat, his blood, his body screaming as he makes it to the top again. But he refuses to be stuck like a bug in the maw of Venus.

This place won't trap him so easily.

He rolls off the final step this time, too tired to jump. He hits the bedrock ground. His body shatters, glass tensioned too tight.

He rises at spawn.

He breaks the sign and throws it into the pit below. It doesn't matter if this world was not made for him. It doesn't matter if this world hates him, even. He will unravel it from petal to root, until he can feel the dirt of it under his nails, answer his questions with surety, satisfy the devastating need to know that rests within his body like a lounging wolf.

It can take as many of his bodies as it wants. It doesn't matter. He'll have his answers.
