god what a fking mess of a post. like these ppl have a had a few bad interactions on tumblr dot com & now cant fathom the larger point that historians do in fact downplay the queerness of historical figures. just straight up inventing conversations & queer historians to justify what is ultimately an irrelevant point.

like im sure queer historians exist, maybe the field has even drawn more queer ppl to it given our erasure throughout history. but ur gonna ignore that erasure on the whole & act like it’s the backlash that’s the problem because why? because queer historians exist? because ppl on tumblr can be annoying?

it’s such an extreme example of missing the forest for the trees & that last point has to be the worst of all. we get one queer person per era folks otherwise these demands to re-examine & properly interpret history are just way too radical
