I noticed that Aegon's fans are divided into two teams - the first one sees him as a completely heartless, almost psychopath, the other one like in this analysis.
https://www.tumblr.com/very-straight-blog/750648583572881408/it-really-tires-me-how-some-fans-try-to-make-aegon?source=share
What do you think about it and how do you see him?
Basically I've written a few things on him already; here, here and here as well as the many web weavings i have on him hihi <3
I see him as a super nuanced character; he is deeply (and I mean deeply) broken. That's why I love him, there's so much there in terms of characterization, even with the little screentime he had.
He is so desperate to be loved but destined to be hated by everyone around him (thank you tgc for this quote, lives rent-free in my mind forever)
Rhaenyra sees him as a threat (she has this fear that her father will replace her with him, someday)
Alicent deeply loves him but is too hard on him (she genuinely thinks all her sons will die if she doesn't make him king; he needs to be strong. strong for them, strong for her.
Aemond is resentful towards him. Resentful of his weakness. He has everything Aemond ever wanted. Why isn't he happy? He would be happy and grateful (he wouldn't).
Viserys wanted Baelon. He is not Baelon.
Forced to marry his sister, he never wanted this for them (in canon,,,, I'll live in my little helaegon delulu land)
He is the kicked dog of the family. He is the only one we see being physically reprimanded. It happens time and time again, this was a deliberate choice by the writers. All of Alicent's fears and grudges and love (ugly, desperate love, but still love) towards Rhaenyra are loaded onto him -> I wished we saw them interact, they are so alike :(
What does a kicked dog do? He runs back, tail between his legs. He tries so hard but somehow it doesn't work. He feels like a failure, he runs off, avoids the pain. He doesn't want to face his reality. He drinks, he indulges in anything that will make him forget
I did not ask for this. I've done everything you've asked me to, and I try so... I try so hard, but it will never be enough for you or father.
He acts out, engages in super self-destructive behaviour -> remember when the brothel madam said that Aegon doesn't go to nice places? It's like he is punishing himself.
I'll also have to speak about his assault; kind of a baffling writing choice to introduce him as a r*pist but it is in line with his characterization. He is a prince, of course he can take anything he wants, right? It was just harmless fun, right?
This behaviour doesn't stem from cruelty (like it did with Ramsay or Joffrey) it comes from the entitlement he feels. He might be the scapegoat of the family, but he is still a spoiled prince -> I actually love this about his character too. Purely good/purely victimized characters are BORING! He is interesting, there's both evil and good in him, he is so extremely complex I want to SCREAM.
I can see him going on an arc, not repent, but change. Grow into the man who can sway the people of Dragonstone to his side, grow into the role of king. Become the type of man who would rather live in pain than dull his senses with milk of the poppy. HIS ARC WILL BE INSANE!!!!!
I know a lot of fans want him to be less whiny, less pathetic, less grey… but honestly? He is perfect the way he is in the show. I genuinely love how he is written (I would've wished to see some interaction with his kiddos and Rhaenyra, that is all lmao) and I know he will be amazing in season 2.

mare's phannie recap 2024 <3
HIIII happy new year's eve! i looked back thru my archive and realized i first made this blog on april 2nd of 2024 :) so this is my first real year in the phandom! being active in the tumblr side of this community has brought me so much joy, i've had such a blast on here with all of you <3
STUFF I DID THIS YR:
i wrote a lot of text essays about random bullshit in the summer (yay random bullshit!) which was such a fun era hehe. then i stepped my pussy up and made two web weaves: one about dan, phil, and wedding vows; and the other honoring sister daniel (both of these posted pre-tour btw)
and then i wrote two fics!!! one is about the 2021 era of dnp. the OTHER is about gender exploration. i'm really proud of both of these and amazed by how kind people are towards fics here :) okay yay!!! enough about that :P
STUFF THAT HAPPENED 2 ME THIS YR:
I WENT TO THE TERRIBLE INFLUENCE TOUR!!!!! With two people, one of whom being one of my best friends ever :) i will never forget standing outside and in the venue and getting to talk to so many wonderful phannies who shared their beautiful artwork with me (stickers and custom cards and aah!! sorry i was too anxious to talk to a ton of u but all of u guys were very sweet <3) seeing dan and phil live was such a lifechanging experience, hopefully i will get a tattoo based on TIT someday :')
FOR THOSE WONDERING my cards were: Dan zoomed in looking at the camera weird, Phil pulling strands of his fringe over his face, Dan happily pointing while Phil flips me off, Phil in the cowboy hat, and (what i was most excited about) the cutesy photo of them in their uni hoodies where they're thinking!!! AAAAH that one was my fave :)
ALSO!!!!!!! At the TIT tour I met @bitchslapblastoids who is the loveliest ever and we made a funny post about it. also i didnt meet them but i want to give a shout out to my friend @bassband for being one of the coolest people who ive been able to get to know this year ^_^ o(-( <- girl who likes hyping their friends and is also laying down for some reason
IN CONCLUSION:
i love u guys so much i love being in the phandom so much it makes me really happy :) you guys have re-sparked my interest in writing fic (something i have a notoriously weird history with) and make me feel soooooo safe making stupid textposts n stuff. dnp really did save my life and im really emotional about that so, i hope in the new year some more crazy shit w them happens!!! I love u guys i dunno i think im usually more articulate than this but yeah thats my little year recap ^_^
ALSOOOOO there are too many to directly tag but shout out to my mutuals I love you guys I love you guys a lot you all are so funny and creative and awesome and kind and this space would not be as fun without u so thank u for putting up with my freak :) and also thank u for anyone on this blog at all for REALLY putting up with my freak<333
^bonus tit pic that counts as my new years eve selfie <3
Oh extra bonus favorite 2024 videos (that come to mind rn): our phanniversary newlyweds game, date night with dan and phil, dan and phil massive pizza mukbang 2, getting deep at the slumber party, phantasy mocktails with daniel and philippe, dan and phil's dragon race, what dan and phil text each other 4, roasting ugly mansions on zillow, keeping or yeeting my entire closet with dan, ranking every icon i've ever had, how phil nearly died, and dan and phil going away q&a!

Hi! So no, I did not make that poat because of a fanart. I actually never interacted with the user you linked, but their art is lovely! This came up after a talk with my mutual, and not related to any post.
I did reblog a bunch of Sansa art where she is a person of color after that reblog of my post, you're right! It's from a friend's blog, @asoiafpoc I highly suggest checking it out :) I also have a bunch of art on my blog before that. And also art of Arya with light skin, and dark skin, just like I have art of all the starks.
You talk about how Arya was "fanonically deemed less politically suave and more brutish", and there's an implication there that I agree with this view, and that's why I think of her as a person of color, and that's why I think she's ugly. The other blogger practically said that. Now, that's one hell of a leap. I am not responsible for what you think I think. I don't think she is more violent or less politically suave (I'm assuming you mean less than Sansa, since she got roped into this whole mess despite her not being in the original post at all). I actually quite like Arya, and really enjoy her later chapters. I think she is extremely social, and we can see that from the beginning of the series, but it really gets highlighted in Braavos. Sorry to disappoint.
I think all of the things you mentioned are very important to talk about. If I had something to say, I would. I don't, and so, I won't. I do plan on making some web weaving for her. I save all my posts under #mb save. You know, the same tag that other blogger cherry picked from the depictions of Sansa for some reason, and ignored the depictions of Arya that didn't fit their narrative.
i'm sorry for bringing this back up but the weird "‼️racist‼️sexist‼️" gotcha with the fanarts on That One Post when you've also rb'd a bunch of indigenous/poc sansa art AND art with pr*tty!arya is soooo. skdjdkskfbsls. like going through tags picking and choosing which art to use to make ppl think YOU think brown=ugly and white=pretty when you're actually just appreciating a bunch of ppl's different takes/reads on characters is genuinely fucked up and insane
"Pr*tty!arya" fhajfkakskkdkajs i love you anon
I agree with you, it really was cherry picking, and bringing a whole different character that wasn't in the original post and wasn't related at all to it. And they chose my friend's highly stylized art of Arya as proof, which really bugged me. The whole "oh you think arya is a person of color so that's why you think she's primitive and tribal and ugly huh!!!" Man. Who said that. Because i didn't say that. You said that and then said I think that.
Also... not to be that person, but as the mixed daughter of a brown latino father and a white mother (also latina, btw) who is actually a completely different color from my dad and my brother... these "oh you think they are different color huh!!!!" No, I don't. And if they were, then... ok. That happens. If you wanna talk about colorism, in-world or in fandom, that's a completely valid conversation to have, one we should be having. But that's not the conversation you want to have, you want to discuss how pretty this 9 year old is. A conversation I simply do not care about, and think it's weird you care this much about.
#come into my dms and i'd be glad to talk.#not gonna acknoledge people who construct false narratives about me based on posts they choose.

how do you make your web weaves? they are so pretty. the amount of detail and work you put into robin is inspiring
hi omg i'm really crying rn.. its the 6am talking thank you for calling it inspiring when i normally call it weird about myself haha!
as for the web weaves.. i guess i make every single one differently? i'm not sure if you mean how i decide to organise it, or how i find my material but i'll quickly cover them both. for organising it: i send to just freestyle depending on what i have. for my first webweave(the loneliness one), i had a lot that i felt all kinda flowed together quite well regardless, and so i basically just put it into tumblr and posted, besides the final side which i decide to make more of a collage of thought more specific to robin's mind? whilst the steve one i made, i felt like a lot of my material was disjointed, and so i kinda messed around with it in photoshop and made things overlap to kind of bring a bit more unity to it! honestly: if this is what you're struggling with, just go for it. there is never an ugly web weave, because i think at it's soul, web weave's are chaotic, there are meant to be this collection of thoughts pulled from everywhere.
as for how i find my material: i spend too much time on pinterest, and i follow a lot of poetry / compilation tumblrs (at least i did on an old blog, and just carried a couple over here!): these are amazing if you maybe don't know a lot of poetry, or even artwork! some of my favourites are luthienne & araekni! you can also just go into tags in general, search web weave, poetry compilations, art compilations! as much as i hate tumblrs tag system, the general-ity of it means you can easily search for web weave + loneliness and be greeted by so many resources!
please let me know if i can every do anything to help u make one!! and again, thank u ! <3
#as an extra: add ur psd! don't! i see some that look so pretty with psds on them but personally i don't because i like the more organic feel#web weaves are so personal that u can really do anything <3#by organic feel i also mean. my psd is so picky and would blur text :(

Hi all! Matthew Dawkins here, the developer and one of the co-authors of Chicago by Night. I thought it’d be a nice treat to drop some of the fiction from the book on the blog, for those of you who haven’t seen it in the Kickstarter updates. Here, without further ado, is Jiba Molei Anderson’s Red Nº 5:
Red Nº 5
A Night to Remember that you’ll probably Forget
Oh, my god! What a fantastic night!
Okay, so my girlfriend Krissie and I are from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We came to Chicago for a girls’ weekend and were having a little pre-game wine drinking session at Zed451 when Jason invited us out to meet a couple of his buddies at this place called Red Nº 5. We were like “sure!” We were two girls out, looking cute, ready to mingle and, perhaps, get into a little trouble. Besides, Sho-Lo Fidelity was supposed to be playing tonight and I love his sets because I’m a big house music fan, right? I mean, don’t let my “becky-ish” looks fool you. I love getting my groove on and getting down with the “brothers,” if you know what I mean.
We got to the club, which is a couple of doors south right past the six corners of Milwaukee, Grand and Halsted around 10:30. Now, you wouldn’t think a place like this would really start jumping until, like, midnight. But, there was already a line at the door filled with people wanting to get in. It was crazy! It felt like that movie about that club in New York that was real big during the disco era. Anyway, the bouncers looked really rough. I mean they looked professional, all clean-shaven and wearing black suits, the kinda doormen you’d probably see at any classy spot. But, it was clear that they were definitely not to be fucked with. They just had that vibe about them, y’know?
There was this one group of girls who looked like the just stepped off of an episode of “Real Housewives of Chicago” who looked like they were almost about to start a scene because the bouncers wouldn’t let them in. I don’t know why they wouldn’t. They definitely looked like the kind of ladies guys would want in the club. They were looking like those ghetto models with their weaves, all squeezed into their tight dresses, which barely covered their asses or their tits and shivering in the cold because they left their coats in the car and didn’t want to pay a coat check fee. I mean, it’s the frickin’ middle of March! You know Chicago doesn’t decide to get warm until, maybe, late May!
Anyway, just as they were about to really turn up and act rachet for not being able to get in the club, one of the bouncers (a big, pale white guy about 6’3, 350 pounds with a spider web tattoo that began on the top of his head and trailed down to his neck with a spider at the end of it) lowered his head, tipped his sunglasses down to the bridge of his nose (so pretentious with the sunglasses at night, right?) and stared right into the lead chick’s eyes. Then, he says real calm and cool, “I’m sorry, but you ladies are not allowed in Red Nº 5 this evening.”
I don’t know, but it looked like the lead girl almost wet her pants. She was so scared, she quickly went to her girlfriends and announced they were leaving that very second. The other girls were so shaken up by the look on their friend’s face they left the line without hesitation. I looked at the group I came here with and got extremely nervous.
Don’t get me wrong. I mean, Krissie and I are, like, super-cute girls. We’re both blonde and we both work out. Krissie is a little thinner and, like, two inches taller than me, but I’ve got the bigger rack and, a little “junk in my trunk,” which the “brothers” like. I totally get called a “snowbunny” all of the time. But, we definitely weren’t “model-chick, hoochie-fabulous” like those girls who were kicked out of line. On top of that, we had three guys with us, in untucked shirts, blue jeans and regular shoes. If those girls couldn’t get in, what chance would our grubby little crew have getting past the velvet rope.
I was kind of shocked when “Charlotte’s Web” (my nickname for the bouncer) let us into the club with a smile and a friendly “Enjoy your evening.”
Now, what I didn’t mention earlier was that Krissie and I were ready to party. By that I mean, we were smoking a little reefer in the car, which accentuated a really lovely merlot buzz. Then, Jason’s buddy Trevor “surprises” us with a couple of pills of pure MDMA, not that corny “Molly” shit. Obviously, Trevor was hoping a couple of happy pills would get him some lovin’ from either Krissie or me… A blowjob at the very least. It was obvious he wasn’t picky. But, what he didn’t know was that Krissie and I were old pros in this game and, we were in full TLC mode that night AKA “No Scrubs.”
We paid our entry fee and got our hands stamped. By now, the pills started kicking in, a little hard, but manageable as we started walking down this black corridor into the club. The red lights made it feel a little mysterious, like “Eyes Wide Shut,” but less cheesy. It was kinda sexy.
We enter the main room and, it was pretty big, but not crowded. It wasn’t empty. I mean, there were plenty of people there, but it was easy to walk around without bumping into anybody unless they were really sloppy. It wasn’t your usual Friday night crowd. Sure, there were a couple of people in suits and fancy dresses in the club looking like they’re playing a role, but this didn’t feel like the usual “Let’s go out because it’s Friday” type of crowd. They were dressed nice, but there was a casual vibe, like they all knew each other or something.
The red lights hit the mahogany walls and chrome railings real nice (I’m studying interior design so I pay attention to these things). The DJ had his own platform above the dance floor. It was a small, circular perch that was large enough to fit the turntables, a small couch and a circular table to set your drinks down. DJ jazintellect (I love jazintellect!) was playing some old-school Hip Hop from the 90s. The initial rush eased into the smooth groove of some really good shit. We walked past the first bar through a doorway that didn’t have a bouncer with a rope in front… Free access!
There was another bar behind the main floor! So cool! There were these black leather couches with mahogany tables. People were hanging out and having drinks so, I thought we should get started with another drink before heading downstairs to hear Sho-Lo’s set. Those couches were so soft and buttery, I felt we were in the coolest music video ever!
So here I was, feeling good and rubbing this leather couch. Trevor thinks that this is a sign that he should make his move. Krissie, being the baddest bitch ever, slides between me and Jason like a good cock blocker should. Unfortunately, Trevor doesn’t get the hint and starts trying to push up on the both of us… the creep! It’s about this close to getting ugly and harshing my roll when the waitress comes to our table for our drink order.
Oh, what I forgot to say is that all of the waitresses are hot. I mean, “Off the cover of Vogue and what the hell are you doing working here?” hot. Our waitress was this tall, light-skinned Black girl with green eyes and a close-cropped haircut dyed blonde wearing a tight-fitting black scoop-neck cocktail dress. I don’t if it was the mix of weed, ecstasy and alcohol, but I was seriously questioning my orientation with this girl.
So, she gives a menu. And, I’m looking at the specials and I say out loud, “Excuse me, what’s in a Winter Rosebud?” Her eyes get a little big and she quickly snatches the menu from my hand and gives me another one. “I’m so, so sorry! I gave you the wrong menu! That was… um… last night’s specials. Here’s tonight’s menu.”
I thought that her reaction was a little over-the-top. I mean, so what if it was last night’s menu? What’s the big deal? I didn’t know that alcohol went bad a day later. Whatever. I’m rolling and it’s not even that deep. So, I kept my thoughts to myself and order my drink.
Then, I saw him.
Now, remember when I said that this felt like the coolest music video ever? Ok, imagine you’re moving in slow motion. The music is thumping 96 beats per minute in sync with your heartbeat. The lights dissolve from red to purple to blue and back again. People from all races and backgrounds are around you looking cool and ethnic and different and sexy…
And then, the crowd of beautiful dancing people parts revealing the sexiest man God Almighty ever made.
He walked into the room talking to a waitress on his left giving him some receipts for him took look over with some corporate-looking douche bag in a suit walking on his right side. He was 6ft tall with milk chocolate skin. His hair was cut real low, had a goatee and he wore simple metal loops in his ears. He was chill, but had a little swagger youknowutI’msayin’? He wore a crisp pair of blue jeans, black shell-toe sneakers and a black t-shirt with a logo that read “Good For Party” that hugged his muscular shoulders and arms, but hung loose untucked over his jeans. I mean, his outfit shouldn’t have stood out like that. On anyone else, especially the guys Krissie and I were stuck with, you wouldn’t give that guy a second look. But this guy… His look was super-crisp and he wore it with such confidence. He totally owned it. Like I said, mama likes a little hot chocolate in her milk and this guy was looking very yummy.
I was thinking about the butterscotch babies “Special Dark” (my name for Mr. Yummy) and I were gonna have and being totally comfortable with my parents disowning me when Krissie bumped my shoulder and said that we should go downstairs to hear Sho-Lo’s set and to get away from Trevor’s clammy mitts. I totally was down for that since “Special Dark” looked like he was heading that way too. We told the boys we were heading downstairs and that they should hold down the table until we get back because we weren’t gonna be down there long (total lies). They were busy making plans to try and mack on some of the girls they’ve been seeing in the club since it was obvious that they were getting nowhere with us. Krissie managed to get another pill from Trevor. We split it, popped the respective halves into our mouths washing the bitter taste down with our extremely well-made cocktails and made our way to the basement.
The basement. Oh. My. God. It was amazing. It had a similar layout to the top floor, but didn’t have the second bar in the back. The black leather couches and tables were on an upper landing that flanked the dance floor. Sho-Lo was in full effect. He was laying down some super-funky Afro House like Black Coffee mixed with some Femi Kuti. It felt like we were at an Afropunk festival. It was all natural hair and face paint. Some people had nose piercings and tribal tattoos, but some people dressed… older? I mean, I saw some people our age dressed like they the 70s fashions from Soul Train were new. But, it didn’t matter because Sho-Lo got them all into the same groove and everybody was dancing like it was some tribal ceremony invoking the ancestors.
And, before you ask how do I know about that tribal / ancestor stuff, I’ve taken some Pan-African studies’ classes, too. I’m, like, totally woke.
Now, the second half roll is kicking right when Sho-Lo drops my favorite new track from the Black 80s. Krissie and I get on the dance floor and just start getting into the whole groove. So, we’re dancing and I see “Special Dark” in the left corner table sitting with this tall, lanky, super-dark bald Black guy in a, I think it was wine-colored, three-quarter length suit with a yellow tie. He was kind of creepy-looking.
And, no! It’s not because he was really dark that I thought he was creepy! I’m not a racist! I’m just saying that he just sat there like some sort of African statue, barely nodding his heading to the music while “Special Dark” was trying to say something to the “Statue”, which seemed kind of important.
I get really focused on details when I roll. It’s kinda my thing.
Next to the “Statue” was this Puerto-Rican woman with this big, curly hair in a yellow 30s-style “Flapper” dress. She was gorgeous and she had her arm wrapped in the “Statue’s” while they sat. They were obviously a couple. They almost looked like they could be “Special Dark’s” parents based on the vibes they gave off from their body language. I saw “Special Dark” get up from the table and was making his way to the dance floor. I started dancing as seductively as possible to get “Special Dark’s” attention. Unfortunately, the only attention I attracted was some greasy drunk guy trying to grind all on my booty. He was grabbing my waist trying to pull me close and I could smell a mixture of menthol cigarettes and Jack Daniel’s on his breath. Ugh! He was gross! Even worse, I could see that “Special Dark” started dancing with Krissie… That bitch! While she was getting swept off of her feet by my future baby daddy, I was stuck under the bridge with this troll who could not take a fucking hint!
Krissie whispered something in “Special Dark’s” ear. I think she wanted to check on Jason and Trevor (since they were our ride) and left “Special Dark” on the dance floor as she headed upstairs. There he was, my dark prince alone while I’m stuck with this basic bro trying to publicly get into my pants while we’re dancing.
Then, “Special Dark” turned his head and our eyes locked. He studied the situation for a moment and obviously saw a damsel in distress. What happened next is probably the sexiest thing that happened to anyone. He smiled and held out his hand, which I took immediately, and pulled me away from “Captain Newport.” I wrapped my arms around “Special Dark’s” neck and we started dancing as if we’d known each other for years. I barely noticed “Captain Newport” as he attempted to make me the ham in his freak-down sandwich. He must’ve finally gotten the hint, because “Captain Newport” finally left me and “Special Dark” alone so that we could get to know each other a little better.
As we danced, “Special Dark” told me his name was Bennett and he was the host for tonight’s party. I also think he said he was a co-owner of Red Nº 5 as well. All I could pay attention to was rubbing his strong milk chocolate arms as he held me close while we swayed to the beat. I looked into his light brown eyes and couldn’t take it anymore. I wanted this man and, it wasn’t the drugs that prompted my next course of action. I mashed my face against his, feeling his soft, pillowy lips against mine. Man, could he kiss. He took my breath away! This was it. In my mind, we were gonna run away together, get married and have a couple of beautiful mop haired café au lait children. I was so lost in the moment, I didn’t notice Krissie coming back downstairs until she broke up my potential romantic love scene with “Special Dark.”
Now, here’s where the story gets really crazy.
Krissie joins us, wraps her arms around the both of us and we all start dancing together. Bennett is in the middle of these two white girls like a reverse Oreo cookie. I know “Captain Newport” would have been extra-pissed if he saw this happening. Krissie and I were rolling really hard now. It got really hot as our hands were sliding up and down Bennett’s waist, arms and all over each other. Then, Krissie slides from behind Bennett to come in between us. She turns and plants a Bennett a long, soft wet kiss on his pillow lips. Normally, this would have pissed me off, but I was feeling so good I didn’t care. In fact, it was a huge turn-on. Then, Krissie turned to me with a look that I never saw before. I was like a deer in headlights as she started to kiss me! Next thing I know, we were all kissing each other becoming this sweaty, sexy heap of passion.
Oh, man. We needed to find a room and handle this before we really became “those people” at the club. Krissie and I were definitely letting our inner hoes out that night. But, I guess we had nothing to worry about since Bennett was the club owner, right?
The next few moments were a blur. Bennett’s strong hands are gripping my ass just right while Krissie is kissing and licking Bennett’s neck before returning to his lips. We’re still all moving to the beat of the music as Bennett breaks away and starts kissing my neck as Krissie licks his ear… Ow! Did Bennett just bite me on my neck? That was kind of hard, but hot at the same time. Oh, now Krissie is licking my neck where Bennett just gave me a hickey. She pulls away with her tongue sticking out before shoving it down Bennett’s throat. Wait. Was that blood on her tongue? Wait. Was that MY blood on her tongue?
Jason and Trevor ruined our love fest by coming downstairs and ripping Krissie and I away from our new favorite candy bar. They pushed Bennett toward the bar. The boys were really pissed and tried to start a fight with Bennett probably because Bennett got farther with us then they ever could, or ever will. They got all up in his face while Bennett stood there cool as a cucumber. I don’t know why the bouncers didn’t get involved, but Bennett just shot them a “I got this” look and these three big, scary guys, including “Charlotte’s Web” from earlier in the night backed away.
Now, during this whole time, the music kept going and the people kept dancing. It’s like it was no big deal. Even the “Statue” and “Flapper” just sat there like this was nothing, just another Friday night at Red Nº 5…
Until Trevor broke a beer bottle on the edge of the bar and lunged at Bennett. What transpired next happened so fast, and I was so fucked up, I know I’m making this up. But, I thought Bennett grabbed Trevor, spun him around into a chokehold and sunk his teeth into Trevor’s neck. He threw Trevor down like a used napkin, grabbed Jason by the neck and body-slammed him to the ground…
With one hand.
The last thing I remember was Bennett’s light brown eyes staring at me while his mouth was stained with Trevor’s blood. Then, everything got very hazy…
I woke up the next morning in my hotel room. Krissie was lying next to me in the bed, we were still fully clothed. She woke up about five minutes after me. We tried to clear our heads from the fog because we were both groggy as shit. The ecstasy we took last night was clean, but still. The after-roll leaves you in this half-floating state that could last the whole next day. We both were wondering what happened last night. It was a dream, right? Jason and Trevor were fine, right? Krissie went to get us some coffee while I tried to call Jason and see if he and Trevor were ok form the night before. The call went straight to voicemail. I tired calling again, same thing. I must have called at least 10 times before finally giving up.
Jason never called back.
A couple of months later, Krissie and I were back in Chicago for another night on the town. We decided to head back to Red Nº 5 since we had such a great time there before the weirdness. As we got to the front of the line, we saw that “Charlotte’s Web” was working the front door. However, he wasn’t so warm to us this time.
“I’m sorry, ladies, but I can’t let you in tonight,” he said.
“Why not?” I asked in my best little girl voice.
“Last time you were here, you caused problems. We can’t afford problems here.”
“That wasn’t us!” I pleaded. “We didn’t cause the problem, it was those two guys we came here with! You can’t blame us for something someone else…”
Before I could get the next words out, “Charlotte’s Web” lowered his head and tipped his sunglasses to the bridge of his nose. I looked into his eyes and, at that moment, saw what happened to Jason and Trevor. They brought us into an environment we knew nothing about and they proceeded to shit all over the place and break the rules. They paid the price and it wasn’t pretty. It was only because of the “rules” that Krissie and I were able to walk out of the club. Now I know those hoochie mamas felt a couple of months past.
Krissie and I got out of the line and left. We never stepped foot into Red Nº 5 again.
We don’t know what happened to Jason and Trevor and we don’t wanna know.
We just knew that we didn’t belong there.

9 TIPS FOR A GOOD BUSINESS WEBSITE
Are you a business owner looking to build a website? To someone new, the whole process can seem complicated, daunting and make you extremely confused. Don’t give up yet! As a 10-year experienced web developer, in this article, CO-WELL Asia is going to walk you through the 10 proven tips for a good business website. We will cover both technical, design, as well as content creation tips to weave in throughout the process.
Technical tips for a good business website
1. Quick Site load time:
According to a research by SOASTA, a website design company, showed that 88% of Americans surveyed said they had a negative feeling with brands that have unstable websites and applications, and 83% said sluggish websites caused them to have a negative reaction to a brand or business. In addition, 28% of respondents said they would go to a competitor’s website if the first website they visited takes too long to load.
Viewers can get impatient if a website takes too much time to load. Make sure that your business website design has the right server infrastructure and bandwidth to support it. A graphically intense design could eat into your loading time and put off prospective customers. Website load time can also be increased by picking up good hosts.
2. Own Your Domain
We also suggest that all businesses buy an actual domain name. Some providers offer free ones that come with extensions. However, “yourbusiness.com” , without a doubt, more professional and easy to remember than “yourbusiness.wordpress.com”.
3. Pick a Reliable Host
There are also a wide range of different hosting platforms that are available. We recommend WordPress – a great scalable and customizable option. But there are others that you can look into based on your own website needs.
Design Tips for a good business website
4. Make your design unique
Whether you decide to design your website on your own or to outsource a website design company, your goal should be to create a website that reflects your brand.
The first impression is the most important and will either attract or repel viewers. If you use any run-of-the-mill template and your website look likes thousands of others on the Internet, you will never be able to impress your viewers. The homepage of any website is what will seal the deal for you so ensure that this becomes the anchor for your entire site and is impressive enough to grab the viewer’s eye.
Nothing can disappoint a visitor than a visibly ugly website design. Visitors always look forward to a smooth navigation process that can take them from Point A to Point B effortlessly without having to deal with visual or other obstacles. Also, clutter can a huge downer for your website and is sure to drive visitors away to your competitors. A simple, user-friendly, and tidy website design without any unnecessary frills and embellishments is the way to go.
5. Input the right images
Not all pictures are going to match your brand and the type of message you’re trying to convey to your audience.
Luckily, you’ve got a lot to choose from, even some that are for free. But still, cause caught many of us decide to plague our website with extremely stocky images.
Just because a stock website has the image, it doesn’t mean it looks genuine and will evoke trust in your company. Ideally, you would love to use photos that portray images of the real people who work in your company and the office itself.
If real photographs are not an choice, there are techniques that you can use to help to choose the correct type of stock photo. This will aid in bringing more realism to your brand and making sure the visuals reflect who you are and what your content is trying to demonstrate.
6. Mobile optimization
Don’t forget about optimizing your site for mobile. If you don’t already know, 80% of internet users own a smartphone, and “Google says 61% of users are unlikely to return to a mobile site they had trouble accessing and 40% visit a competitor’s site instead”.
It’s a necessity to tailor your site to fit the needs and wants of your visitors. You might want to ask yourself, why would someone access my site on mobile? What things would they look for? Does my experience currently allow them to do those things easily?
If your websites lagging on its mobile optimization, check out some of these awesome mobile websites to understand how they have created seamless mobile experiences for their users.
Content Tips for a good business website
7. Creat relevant and useful content:
One of the most effective tips for a good business website is the relevance of content. This plays a major role in getting indexed by search engines. The more qualitative and quantitative your content, the easier it is for search engines to find and index your site. Poor or irrelevant content is also a game changer when it comes to attracting or putting off viewers. Headlines are where you need to pay extra attention as this will decide the difference between a visitor leaving your site or continuing further to browse the rest.
8. Contact details easily visible:
This may seem like the most obvious thing to do but small business website design companies tend to overlook this factor at times. Your phone number and e-mail address should be displayed prominently on the website and, if possible, at the top and bottom of every page. Create a ‘CONTACT’ page at the end which includes not just the contact numbers but email address, physical address of the company, and a map, along with directions to and hours of operation of your company.
9. SEO focus
Last but not least, Search Engine Optimization is a must if you want to build a great website. SEO is a set of practices you apply to your website to ensure an index of search engines and properly rank your website and then show it to search engine users. If the website is “crawled” by search engines, it competes with websites that have identical content. The better your website design and content is, the higher your website will be ranked on search engine result pages.
Primarily, SEO consists the following practices:
Optimal website code
Research and implementation of keywords
Fast speed of loading
Being secure and having an SSL certificate installed (SSL is the standard security technology that guarantees data exchanged between web servers and browsers stay confidential)
Having a mobile-friendly site
Existence of high-quality backlinks (links on external websites with related content) that lead to your site
Having lots of positive reviews online (Google, Yelp, Facebook, etc.)
Using internal links throughout your site to keep people clicking and reading
Using social media to link to your site (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.)
SEO is an extremely important ongoing process that can mean the difference between showing up on the first page of search engine results pages (resulting in large amounts of free traffic to your website) or page 300 (resulting in no traffic).

Meet the Gawkers
This is our official coming out.
We've been at this thing for a few years now, and we need to clear some things up. On more than one occasion, we've discussed The Loud Pedal with personal friends and acquaintances and figured out that (for better or worse) people don't associate our work/content with us. Part of this is our fault. Since TLP began we have made a concerted effort to keep our faces concealed (trust us folks, it has been for your well being). On the rare occasion that one or both of us has been featured in a blog post or on a FB/Instagram/Twitter post, we have intentionally "helmeted" our ugly mugs. We like to let our followers know that we're doing something awesome, but that the focus is always the cars or the events.
Well, suffice it to say that humility is about to take a back seat in favor of an elevation of our personal status and visibility. Perhaps this is isn't the best idea we've ever had, but we're gonna give it a whirl anyway. Though we will have to show you our hideous visages, we promise to keep the luminaries we meet and cars and events we attend on your behalf, the center of attention. Though you will now have to look at our admittedly self-pufferizing selfies with drivers and personalities, we promise to keep our standards high and the images awesome and relevant.
In addition to forcing you to know what we look like, we decided to give you a little biographical information about each of us. No, this information probably won't enhance your life or help with your understanding of the universe in any way, but it will give you a little background on us and help you understand our passion for all things automotive.
The truth will end up being extremely boring. If we had more talent, we could weave a fictional masterpiece centered around our elevation as heroes of the automotive press. In a story you didn’t ask for, written without the clearest of hindsight, never giving ourselves more credit than we deserve, comes the story The Loud Pedal. We are not aloof journalist that take the high ground toward objective and dispassionate reporting. We are fans and we don't it. When we arrive to report on an event we are just as giddy and excited as all the other fanboys and fangirls.
Andrew Langley:
I turn 41 this year, and when it comes to things automotive, I think that age really belies my reality (in car years?). If I'm honest, when I get to a show or the track, I'm about 13 (some may argue closer to 11 or 12). In my element, I have to look around sometimes and remind myself to act a little more my age. I still like autographs, selfies, hero cards, drivers/celebrities and lots of other bright and shiny objects. For these things, my heartbeat accelerates. When I see a good autograph opportunity, I imagine that I look like George Costanza running from a cake fire at a kids birthday party. Ridiculous, yes, but controllable, no. And speaking of 13 year old boy, here I am:
As far as I'm aware, this was about the time I fell in love with cars and out of love with skateboards. This was probably about the time the obligatory Porsche 911 (red, with whale tail of course) and Lamborghini Countach posters went up on my bedroom wall. That said, it probably wasn't that serious. I mean, sure I was crazy about Kit, Detective "Sonny" Crockett's 365 and 512TR and the A-Team van...but who wasn't???
My serious interest started in the early 90s, when I inherited my mom's 69 Mercury Cougar. This wasn't the boon is sounds like. It was our "family car" for years. It had been sitting on the side of our house for ever and hadn't been started or run for a long long time (today, it would be called a "survivor"). My folks said I could have it if I could get it running and pay for insurance and running costs. My dad and I did end up getting the thing running and moving, if only up and down the driveway #rainman. Unfortunately, because of one big boo boo on my part, and because I soon came to know why FORD was a proper name as well as an acronym, it became apparent that my high school car wasn't going to be a muscle car #sadface. The loss of my Cougar didn't diminish my growing love for muscle cars, which turned into an appreciation of custom cars and trucks. My room became littered with the latest copies of Car Craft, Super Chevy, Hot Rod, Rod & Custom and Super Ford, and probably a few others that don't exist anymore.
The first day of the rest of my life came some time in 1994. I lucked into a job at a local VW Porsche garage in Sacramento, working for Frank and Nick Lettini at Frank's Automotive. It was there that I drove my first VWs, Porsches, Benzes, Beemers and the occasional Ferrari. There was something about those Euro jobs that I really began to like and appreciate. The sound of a mechanically injected 911 got under my skin (probably because it always sounded like all the mechanicals were going to fly apart!). I also started my love for all things VW...yes, both air and water cooled. My magazine collection took a tack toward Top Gear, Autosport, Road and Track, Car and Driver, Evo and 911 and Porsche World. Over the next few years Frank and Nick introduced me to the Monterey Historics, F1 Racing, Le Mans, and historic racing. All of these things are fixtures in my life all these years later and I elevated Nick to best friend and mentor.
I met Mark while in college, and found a willing accomplice with a good sense of humor, a mind thirsty for all things automotive and lots of free time. Our girlfriends at the time (now our wives) had work schedules opposite ours so we had plenty of time to hit the track and car shows whenever we wanted.
The die was cast.
All of these things still excite me and compel me to be part of The Loud Pedal and drive me to want me to share my passion and experiences with you (yes, both of you!)
Mark Farouk:
I was always into cars at some level, but my infatuation developed later in life. It was in college (I know, that’s where everyone “experiments”) that I met Andrew. By this time, he was fully engulfed in fanboy-ism for almost everything with an engine. I was skeptical that the amount time he spent on this hobby was worth it. This friendship introduced me to the automotive world. It wasn’t that I didn’t care before, it was that now I was friends with someone who read every car related publican known to man. Andrew talked about it frequently enough to the point where I finally relented and watched an F1 race. Ok, you have my attention! Enough attention that I would wake up at 4am to watch European F1 races before the days of DVRs and internet streaming. There was no turning back from that point, and I wanted more. California is home to several great race tracks, with one being a little over an hour away from our homes. My first race was an American Le Mans Series race at Sonoma Raceway (aka Sears Point). Within moments of arriving, though not really knowing what was going on, I was hooked. It was from that moment that I wanted to attend and smell (Yes, smell) every race possible.
These were the waning days of film photography (ask your parents), and taking photos was not the cheapest hobby or proposition. I had been into photography from an early age, but the racetrack was my new canvass. Not just a canvass but an organic, always changing backdrop with multiple opportunities to blow through roles of film....and that’s just what I/we did. A race weekend was likely to produce conservatively 15-20 roles of film. Today, you review your work instantaneously, but back then you had to wait until you found the time and money to have the photos developed and printed. Digital photography has made things much easier and cheaper, but I still sometimes miss the excitement of going to the photolab to pick-up prints and see images for the first time.
As the years went by, we both went digital. Rolls of film turned to thousands (and thousands and thousands) of photos and the need for lots of storage. The advent of cheap web space and social media gave us potential outlets to share our work with our fellow enthusiasts. In the early days, even those sharing opportunities that were available had limitations. Web space was expensive and blogging had yet to even arrive on the scene. We were (OK, maybe we still are) an audience two, keeping ourselves entertained with photos and commentary. Over the years though, we have arguably gotten better, made a few connections and improved our craft. Not for any monetary purpose, but just just for the sake of doing it.
Over the years I developed, experimented and sometimes failed at the art of automotive photography. I was lucky enough to have some opportunities to have media access to shoot for a legitimate media organization at several events through a personal contact. All the talent in the world will not get you closer to the action unless you extend your network, meaning making new contacts which later become people, that will take a risk on your talent. Shooting racecars next to the wall as they fly past is addictive and the best rush I’ve ever had. Even today, I cherish every moment in the chaos, and it's really where I feel my zen. Just me, a camera and a snarling beast spitting fire and shaking the ground.
It was during that time of shooting as a “pro”, of attending mandatory photographer briefings, and chatting with other established photographers that I picked up some knowledge of how the digital media world works in relation to being considered for official access. I’ve always been fortunate to be skilled in watching and learning. I didn’t just use my media access to develop the craft of photography, I used it as a learning opportunity so that one day I could shoot for myself rather than for someone else, and get credit for it. You must start out with some talent before anything else to serve as a foundation. I can say with 100% confidence that a social media presence and some great photos aren’t going to get past a good public relations professional, who is likely making the decision on whether you will receive media access. This also means that one must calculate when they are ready to be considered. As I was learning the back side of motorsports journalism, Andrew and I continued to build up a massive catalog of photographs from our years at automotive events.
It was at dinner after a long day the at track that we sat down to eat and I pitched my idea for taking our hobby (sickness) and share it with others. We discussed this over the next hour or so and came away with a shared goal of not just documenting our experiences but upping our game in every way. It was the best combination to build on. While I enjoy shooting the on-track action, Andrew likes documenting the paddock. He also has an uncanny ability to locate obscure things, and find famous personalities and drivers (because his emotional growth is somewhat "paused" at the 12-year-old level). Together, we handle all the angles.
From that day forward, after The Loud Pedal was born, our approach was different. We needed more planning, we entered racing weekends with goals on the material we needed to source to draft a successful review/blog post. To be honest, it is enjoyable in every way, but its not without self-imposed stress to ensure we capture the essence of the event we are documenting. That means we can’t just post some good photos, we need a story to tell.
Finally, this effort is self-funded and self-run. We don’t have wealthy benefactors (we are however open to it) and must use our substantial charms and marginal looks and talent to make this thing work. Most of all, we respect the craft and with our efforts do everything we can to avoid smearing it in any way. We are honored and humbled that you, and maybe one or two more people, follow our exploits, enjoy our photos and wade through our musings. We make no money from this venture, and we do it all for you.
Thank you for for reading.
-Mark and Andrew
