do u have any mcpriceley fic recs
McPriceley Fic Recs
BOY, do I have some McPriceley fic recs for you anon. There’s a rating, summary, warnings, and my opinion on each fic. These are only some of my favourites. I’m also sorry if the warnings give away some spoilers but better safe than sorry! Sorry this took awhile lol, also I have a bias for long fics.
Have fun!
1. Four States, One Journey by strengthsbasedmediocrity (On-going)
Rating: T
Summary: Life throws so many things at you that you don’t expect. Rejection. Addiction. Doubt. Divorce. But maybe, with the right people in your life, it can still be greater than you ever imagined. Chronicles of the characters’ lives post-Uganda.
Review: This is probably one of the best BoM fics out there. It’s one of my all time favourites, it’s really long and it’s written so well it might as well be a sequel to the musical. McPriceley is a main ship but it’s not McPriceley centric? It’s basically it’s own story. Very slow-burn McPriceley but still a very recommended read. TW: Suicide attempt, self-harm, depression, addiction.
2. Second Star to the Right (And Straight On ‘Til Morning) by elderkevinmckinley (On-going)
Rating: M
Summary: When the Elders of District Nine all take a big reunion trip to Disney World seven years after returning home, Kevin and Connor are forced to confront themselves, their pasts and each other.
Review: This one’s a tear jerker but it’s also so soft, the fluff will melt you into goop. Very McPriceley centric. Also one of my favourite BoM fics. A little slow-burn, but it’s great, makes everything so worth it when they’re happy. TW: Gay conversion therapy, trauma, some sexual content.
3. The Siblings God Never Gave Us by SiwgrGalon
Rating: T
Summary: Tucked away in Connor’s and Kevin’s shoebox apartment, sheltered from the storm raging outside, Connor and Nabulungi have a heart to heart about boys, relationships and, indeed, wedding nights.
Review: Very soft conversations between Connor and Naba ft. Kevin.
4. Morning Song by elderkevinmckinley
Rating: T
Summary: Kevin and Connor’s thoughts as they share a quiet, lazy Sunday morning together.
Review: Soft, the softest, when you need some happiness after all the angst.
5. We’ll Carry It Off by gays_and_ships (on-going)
Rating: M
Summary: Kevin Price is NOT valedictorian and he’s well attuned to this fact. Studies show that participation in extracurricular activities are proven to raise grades and per Mrs. Brown’s advice, Kevin auditions for the school musical. He has no faith in his talents, he can’t dance and he doesn’t know anyone. Should Kevin live to see himself cast in the musical, he’ll need Thespian President, Connor McKinley, to show him the ropes. In a showy attempt to raise his grades, Kevin will learn more about himself and become more aware of the people around him as he is forced to learn who they are as people and not just as faces he passes in the hall or sits next to in class.
Review: High School AU, this one is pretty new but I already like it so much.
6. just not telling the whole truth by gayvincreel
Rating: T
Summary: That’s why Elder Price is safe to like, is safe to dote over, is safe to fantasize about, because he can learn to feel more comfortable with his – with his alternate thoughts, if you will, without any fear of his thoughts being reciprocated. Without his reoccurring fear that any close bond he forms with a man will crumble in on itself due to his own discomfort and self-hatred just like it did with Steve.
He learns that he shouldn’t love boys years before he realizes he does, he learns that he doesn’t love himself years before he realizes he should, and he learns that he can do both less than one year after he meets Elder Price.
Review: I think this is a classic, like how “A Portrait” is a BoM/McPriceley classic. Connor-centric, great writing as usual.
7. changing of the seasons by StarKidMcFly (on-going)
Rating: T
Summary: New York City is expensive without a roommate. New York City with one? Well, that’s a whole other level of taxing.
Review: Roommate AU, slowburn. More of a general “slice of life” story but I still like it nonetheless.
8. Connor McKinley and the Gift of Time by taptaf
Rating: N/A
They meet on the train.
“There’s not enough room anywhere else,” the boy explains, stepping into his compartment. “Do you mind?”
Kevin lifts his head from the window, eyeing the other boy over. He does not look very smart or clever, standing there with an armful of Chocolate Frogs and a sugar quill between his teeth. If anything, he looks rather foolish. When he smiles, Kevin notices his teeth are blue. Jelly slugs, his mind supplies; and suddenly he feels very hungry.
Review: Hogwarts AU. I love the interactions between the two, it’s just so cute and domestic and in character. Some referenced smut.
N/SFW Fics
1. twotty twitty twiddle means to your right a little by nicrouleaucanrouleauintomybed
Summary: 19 year old Kevin meets a pretty stranger in a public toilet and things escalate quickly from there.
2. call me on my cell phone, late night when you need my love by nicrouleaucanrouleauintomybed
Summary: Connor is stuck in his old childhood room with his boyfriend in the next room over, seemingly unable to do anything about it, but Kevin has other ideas. PWP
3. Going Up by pastries and turtlenecks
Summary: Connor McKinley was not going to let anything make him late for that interview. McPriceley elevator smut.
4. Maybe by Mirimea
Summary: Caught in a violent storm during a shopping trip in town, Elder McKinley and Elder Price are forced to check in to a hotel overnight.
5. Mokjitos by sleepynightvale
Summary: Mokjitos and dancing and a strange hickey later leads to some… interesting fun in an alleyway.
6. Unwelcome Attention by folddownthemiddle
Summary: Elder Price just can’t keep quiet for more than one minute, so Elder McKinley makes sure that he gets more attention than he bargained for.

The former District Nine of the LSD Church was now on it's own. Fallen from grace and persevering through willpower, the Elders were a different set of busy than what they had been used to. They were gathered around, waiting for Elder McKinley to give them their daily chores. "Alright, Elders, let's get to the point. We need to get this place up and running before the supplies from the Church run out. We're doing good for now, but I want to be prepared before then." (a mission in uganda)
@a-mission-in-uganda
☕
THE COFFEE IN HIS HAND WAS WARM, BUT NOT NEARLY AS HOT AS STUPID AFRICA.
Standing there under the sun, Kevin wondered if they would ever manage to get the place ‘UP and RUNNING’ to the point of putting UP a RUNNING Air Conditioner. He was as tired as he was exasperated, and a positive outlook seemed OUT OF HIS REACH when his BEST FRIEND wasn’t even there. Taking a sip of his drink, he listened to Elder McKinley ( were they still even considered ‘Elders’ ? ) halfheartedly, pressing his lips together as he waited for his assignment.
He would play his part in helping make Uganda a better place–
But he sure as HELL wasn’t doing it before he finished his cup of coffee.

“I can’t believe this.”
Kevin kicks the door to their apartment – once, twice – until his foot hurts. He’d promised himself they’d have a productive afternoon; they need one, after the food poisoning debacle that rendered them useless for almost a week. By Kevin’s estimation, they should have at least four investigators by now, but instead they have none – and thanks to Elder Young locking them out of their apartment, that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
Their books are inside, as are The Plan of Salvation pamphlets. Kevin can hardly keep his cool; and to make things worse – it’s raining.
“I’m starting to regret this transfer,” he complains, as though he had a choice in the matter. “Things are going worse for me here than they were in Uganda.”
District Nine didn’t have running water or hot showers, and yet Kevin finds himself wishing he was back there. He misses the village, he misses his friends, and he really misses his companion.
Elder Young is a poor replacement for Elder Cunningham, that’s for sure. Even at the height of Arnold’s obsession with Nabulungi, he wasn’t half as annoying as Elder Young is, when it comes to his fiancé.
Lisa.
Ugh.
Kevin makes a face, pressing his back up against the vinyl siding. He tries to keep himself under the narrow awning so as not to get too wet.
“You know, this wouldn’t have happened if you would’ve just let me hold onto the keys like I wanted.”
He shoots Elder Young a look, crossing his arms over his chest; “– and if you weren’t so distracted by worldly pleasures all the darn time.”
He huffs, looking away. "You're only supposed to think about that girl on preparation day, Elder. And even then you're only supposed to write letters. No phone calls."

kevin price. 13, 25, 27! :)
13. Sexual Orientation? And, regardless of own orientation, thoughts on sexual orientation in general? - kevin is SO GAY, but he has a hard time embracing it. he's gone over it with connor plenty of times like "so you've never had any kind of romantic or sexual attraction to girls, right?" "right." "and you're attracted to me, right?" "right." "so you've only been attracted to boys. that means you're ga-" "NO. NO. incorrect."
he's definitely had small crushes on boys before connor, but he didn't see them as crushes because none of them really?? hit him as hard as his crush on connor did. idk i feel like it would take him a looooong time to overcome his internalized homophobia toward himself. he pretty much accepts everyone else but himself. he's also one of Those People™ who are like... "labels don't matter" and he kind of uses it as an excuse to say he's not gay.
as for asexual kevin, it's not my personal headcanon. i feel like a lot of people headcanon him as ace because he went through sexual trauma and was really grossed out by the sexual acts in spooky mormon hell dream. from what i've heard from my friends who have gone through it before, experiencing sexual trauma doesn't usually make someone asexual. it makes having sex and being sexually attracted to people more difficult, but it doesn't really?? elimate pre-existing sexual attraction. i also really like the idea of a character who has sexual trauma overcoming it and being able to comfortably be in a sexual relationship.
as for the smhd stuff??? NOBODY wants to see their dad and jeffrey dahmer getting it on? or their district leader, who they just met, and aren't supposed to see in that way at all blowing hitler????? not to mention, being asexual doesn't automatically mean sex repulsed. i could go on about everything in smhd but this is already 4 paragraphs l ol i'm so sorry
ANYWAYS not to mention there are several productions he gets a boner for elder mckinley so 👀
25. Where do they see themselves 5 years from today? - i feel like when he first left for his mission, he'd envision that he'd go home having done ~something incredible~ and is like, nationally known as the Best Mormon Ever™ and he'd move to orlando and do super important mormon business there. he probably hoped to find a super-babe mormon wife at disney world, have a super extra wedding there, and have a big mormon family™ and some dogs and take family trips to disney constantly.
but after the events of the musical, that kind of falls apart because he starts questioning God and his sexuality and just... everything. so he doesn't really have a plan or hope for the future after that, he's p much happy as long as he has arnold and connor and gets to go to orlando eventually.
27. What is their biggest regret? - oh gee, i dunno... maybe..... leaving his companion after less than 72 hours upon arrival in uganda, and subsequently causing the entire district nine mission to fail?? just a guess. but seriously, he feels immense guilt about that. like, unbearable guilt, he had meltdowns about every other night after it happened. he doesn't let anyone know about it, though. he just tries his best to make up for it by spending extra time with arnold and sucking up to mckinley (which tbh, would happen anyways, because kevin is the teacher's-pet type and also he's Gay™ and wants to impress and get praise from elder mckinley but whatever)

And another concept: asexual Kevin Price and space. He has a space themed tie. He says things like "I'm ace and I like space." He loves stargazing in Uganda since it's on the equator and he can see so many new stars that he couldn't see at home. He has books about all the different constellations and stargazing apps on his phone and he loves teaching others about the stars and showing them where all the constellations are
yes!!!!!!! every elder in district nine loves space now i'm sorry u guys it's just the truth

Book of Mormon Fanfiction Recommendations (Mostly McPriceley)
These are my favorite Book of Mormon fanfictions. These are mostly McPriceley because most more than half of the fanfictions that the Book of Mormon archive has is McPriceley. This is a much bigger list than my other one. Extras at the end and if I find more in the future, check the notes.
Bold and italicized are my favorites.
I do not own any of these.
McPriceley
1. Little Syncopations
Five times Elder Price made matters terribly frustrating for Elder McKinley…well, sort of.
2. The Size of Orlando, Florida
“What are you keeping from me?” Elder McKinley asks. “I’m supposed to be your district leader, Ke- Elder, and I have to say you’re making it darn near impossible. I try to ask how you’re doing, I try to show you I’m there for you, I try to make sure you feel valued and supported by m- us, and you just… run away! Every single time, Elder! I’ve had enough of it! I will not let you leave this room until you feel cared for.”Kevin Price has everything under control… except for his inappropriate reaction to his district leader.
3. Saints of a Different Kind
Elder Price realizes he might have more than platonic feelings for Elder McKinley at a super inconvenient time. Also, he’s 100000% straight, so that makes no sense. Ignoring it should work! He will just sit there, consumed with lust for the rest of the evening.
4. just not telling the whole truth
That’s why Elder Price is safe to like, is safe to dote over, is safe to fantasize about, because he can learn to feel more comfortable with his – with his alternate thoughts, if you will, without any fear of his thoughts being reciprocated.
5. Settling for More
He wanted to kiss Kevin. He wanted to do more than just kiss Kevin. He couldn’t tell Kevin he wanted that.
6. Sing For Ourselves Alone
In which Connor is a flirty drunk and Kevin is a dork.
7. Of Pop Tarts And Elephants
In which there is a completely reasonable, heterosexual explanation for why Kevin can’t stop thinking about Elder McKinley. Also, the Game of Life is played.
8. Sardines
The Elders of District 9 decide to play a game of Sardines and end up packed into a closet and Kevin can’t keep his hands to himself.
9. Cookies and Confidences (Cunningham/Nabulungi)
Elder McKinley and Nabulungi talk about their boy problems.
10. As It Is
In a world where people’s first touches leave a spot of color on each others’ skin, some more vivid than other, Kevin has never given much thought to how and when he will receive his actual soulmate mark.
11. Rules Are Overrated
Elder McKinley twirls the feather between his fingers which, for some reason, spurs Elder Price into a choking fit. “May I ask what I was doing?”
Elder Price mumbles something that sounds suspiciously like, “More like who,” but he’s still coughing a little and Elder McKinley can’t be sure that he heard correctly.
(In which Elder McKinley finally finds out that he was in Elder Price’s hell dream).
12. miserably, honestly, imperceptively
“Does he make your heart kind of flutter?” Arnold asked one day.
Kevin felt like he couldn’t breathe as he choked out, “Yes.”
“Does he make your eyes sort of blur?” Nabulungi asked, on his other side.
Kevin closed them and said, “Oh no.”
13. Of Coffee and Kisses
Elder Price couldn’t sleep that night. Turns out, he wasn’t the only one.
14. A Minor Crisis
It was Elder McKinley’s birthday, and they did not have a cake.
15. Have You Tried Turning It Off And On Again?
It isn’t long after Elder Price and Elder Cunningham appear in Uganda that Connor McKinley realizes that Turning It Off is going to be a lot harder than it used to be.
16. 5 Times Elders Price and McKinley Accidentally Flirted With Each Other And One Time They Did It On Purpose
While Elder Price and Elder McKinley are both talented at many things, neither of them are adapt at flirting, especially not with each other.
17. Maybe
Caught in a violent storm during a shopping trip in town, Elder McKinley and Elder Price are forced to check in to a hotel overnight.
18. With a Sunflower Tie
“Connor waves him off, grinning in delight. ‘No, that’s fine, it’s just a little… well, unconventional. I kind of assumed you’d be more of a vanilla guy, but… wow, Kevin Price has a kink. I don’t suppose you want me to tie you up or anything while I’m at it?’
Holy crap. 'Geez, Connor,’ Kevin says, pressing one hand firmly to his crotch. 'You can’t just say things like that.’ He didn’t even know that was a turn on until it passed Connor’s lips.”
19. lean into the unexpected
Kevin remembers, when he was younger, being mesmerized by the idea of having a soulmate. Seeing his mother’s name in her neat script on his father’s wrist, just there all the time, made him want his own; every time he asked about it, he was always just met with a shrug and the same answer of “You’ll know eventually.” The thing was, he didn’t want to wait for eventually. He wanted to know now. He wanted that name to be there so he could start looking for her, but no adult would tell him anything.
20. Soul-Eater
"Shame is a soul-eating emotion.“ - Carl Jung
21. Graceful
Connor McKinley never really considered himself exceptionally graceful, but years of dance lessons had left a mark. A great sense of balance, good posture, quick reflexes – Connor didn’t realize how much he took it all for granted until the day Kevin Price walked into the mission hut and turned him into a clumsy oaf.
22. McPriceley Prompts
a collection of short one-shots inspired by this tumblr post I found (which I would link if I knew how to do that in an AO3 summary)
All of it is in the same universe (canon Uganda), but each prompt exists by itself.
23. Shifting Priorities
The Hell dreams have been getting worse. Ever since Kevin Price strode into Connor’s life, they’ve been getting worse, so bad that he resolves that the only solution is to stop sleeping.
It’s a temporary solution. Connor knew it wouldn’t last forever. He didn’t think, however, that Kevin would be by Connor’s side when he awoke from the Hell dream, didn’t think Kevin would care so much when he woke up screaming, or wonder why he was still crying.
He didn’t think anyone would care at all. He’s not sure he understands it.
24. In-Between
The Christmases of 2011-2013 are entirely different, yet never bad.
25. you’re my christmas present this year
Christmas in Uganda is… different, to Christmas at home.
26. A Portrait of Kevin Price as a Young Mormon
“Get lost,” says Connor, smiling. “We are nineteen years old, we have our whole lives ahead of us. Screw secure futures. It’s about here and now, right?”
Kevin nods. “Latter Day doesn’t mean afterlife, it means tomorrow.”
“Right,” Connor says. He hums to himself, a tune that Kevin doesn’t recognise. “Screw the past, too.” “Aye aye, Captain,” says Kevin. “Screw the past.” Or; Arnold is the greatest best friend in the world, Connor is a jerk, and Kevin Price is hot and bothered.
27. Team Building
McKinley suggests a board game night and somehow ends up in a closet with Elder Price.
28. Right. Anyway. Off.
"five times McKinley says he doesn’t love Kevin, and the one time he admits it."
29. The District Leader Is Short
Being short wasn’t so bad for Connor McKinley. It meant he was always in the front for dance recitals and never had to worry about ducking his head. The only downside to being as tall as of a middle schooler was having to look up to Elder Price, which really wasn’t all that much of a downside.
(Basically, Connor needs someone who can reach all the tall things and Kevin accidentally gets the job.)
30. The Pros and Cons of Breathing
"It wasn’t until the third night he refused kitchen duty that they started to worry.”
31. Telephone Wire
Your run-of-the-mill Mcpriceley: Connor has some serious self-esteem issues, Hell dreams, romantic talks by a lake in the fine Ugandan wilderness…
32. Oh..
In which Connor has a HUGE crush on Kevin and Kevin likes him back, but Kevin himself is the last person in Uganda to realize.
33. Touch Me
The elders of District Nine are all, as a rule, unimpressive alphas or betas, except for Elders Cunningham and Price. They are poor, unfortunate, unmanifested souls; people without a secondary gender. At least, they were.
34. Loathing Self-Assassination
No one is going to worry about him. As much as it hurts, he knows that he doesn’t deserve to be worried about. He doesn’t deserve to be spoiled and pampered with attention. But that doesn’t stop him from thinking about it miserably sometimes. Oh, how nice it would be to have someone dote on him. Comfort him. Love him. But who could ever love pathetic Connor McKinley?
Sometimes, on those self-indulgent nights, he thinks that someone is Kevin Price.
35. Almost As Exciting As Orlando
Kevin Price is a great Secret Santa.
36. Seven Boxes
“i did that annoying thing where i put loads of smaller boxes inside one big box and you’re getting really mad but you don’t know that the ring is in the smallest box and i can’t wait to see your face”
37. Imitation
When Kevin finds himself having gay thoughts, he turns to the resident expert on them to sort them out and ends up getting more than he bargained for.
38. National Hug Day
Even back home in Utah Connor suspects that there will probably be times when he’ll need to keep his elders’ spirits up, and how better than by celebrating some fun holidays together?
39. Poster Child
Connor was convinced that God was slowly mending his sinful, perverse mind. He wasn’t having a difficult time turning it off, the other Elders were handsome, but they weren’t his style.
That was until he showed up and ruined everything with his stupid beautiful face and his obnoxiously endearing ego.
Elder Kevin Price, the gosh darn b-word!
40. You’re A Good Mormon, Elder Price
The missionaries are assigned new companions for the next three months, and Elder Price’s new roommate brings out things in himself he never thought he was capable of.
41. Three Times Arnold Didn’t Get It (And The One Time Kevin Spelled It Out For Him)
Not bothering to knock, he opens the door to their quarters and says, “Oh Battlestar Galactica!” Which wasn’t what he was going to say, but when he sees a very shirtless Elder McKinley straddling an equally shirtless Kevin Price, all rehearsed dialogue goes flying out the window. :: - :: Arnold knows he can be a little dense about some things but to consistently miss the fact that his district leader has been boning his best friend? That has got to be some sort of feat.
42. Butterfly Kisses and Birthday Wishes
A stolen caress and inadvertent cuddle during Movie Night plunges Connor McKinley and Kevin Price into their first ever romantic relationship in post-canon Uganda. As their relationship progresses, Kevin tries to move things a little bit faster than Connor is ready for, but eventually the time is right for both of them.
Or shameless McPricely fluff where Connor and Kevin share all of their firsts together.
43. Sydney Carton Doesn’t Have Shit On Me
Connor McKinley has Great Expectations, and arrogant, brooding, straight Kevin Price is most definitely not his dashing, heroic love interest. Seriously.
44. “Obviously You Are Not Skilled In The Art Of Doing Things You Aren’t Supposed To.”
Sentence Prompt #11- “"Obviously you are not skilled in The Art Of Doing Things You Aren’t Supposed To.”
45. “Hey! My Eyes Are Up Here!”
Sentence Prompt #2- “Hey! My eyes are up here!”
46. “How Much Does It Hurt?”
Sentence Prompt #17- “How much does it hurt?”
47. Latter-Day Blues
“Our rules can change too, guys. I really don’t think anything bad will happen if we let a few of those things slide — I mean, who here is going to care now?” In which the Church washes its hands of the Uganda mission, leaving a bunch of confused, abandoned boys who are unaccustomed to freedom in its wake.
48. Untitled
49. In All My Years
Connor has had many things happen in his life. Ballet lessons, rejection, and first loves. This is a look into eight different parts of his life.
50. .laundry
(drabble) prompt fill: slow dancing
51. .malaria
(drabble) prompt fill: caring for the other when sick
52. Want To Talk About It?
Kevin can’t sleep, it’s Connor’s fault.
53. Season of Love
Connor hasn’t been to church in a very, very long time.
54. Blue and Pink
Connor McKinley looks in the mirror.
55. Tan and White
Sequel to “Blue and Pink”
56. Desperation
Arnold then grinned mischievously. He sat up to face Elder Thomas. “Well, Poptarts, if you’re in, we could do a spot of matchmaking.”
Nothing ever seems to happen between Connor McKinley and Kevin Price, except longing looks and gentle brushes that are just platonic enough to not imply anything. Chris and Arnold think that something should be done.
57. Turn It Off
“Where’s your 'nifty, little Mormon trick,’ now? What good is it if you can’t use it when you need it most?”
58. Baby Steps (To Our Paradise Planet)
Elder Price was something else, he really was. Boys like him were the reason Elder McKinley came up with his entire lightswitch coping mechanism in the first place, and boys like him were why the lightswitch coping mechanism did not actually tend to work very well. Sure, in theory, it worked like a charm; memories of the fifth grade could be flicked off just like that. Everybody did that. Everybody did not have to look Elder Price in his glowing, grinning face and pretend that they were not halfway in love with him.
59. Poorboys and Pilgrims
Officially the remaining Elders are running themselves as a collective in the absence of their District Leader. But to nobody’s surprise Elder Price has declared himself in charge. You can lead a horse away from conventional Mormonism but you cannot force him not to be self-important and overly-righteous, even if this the new and improved Elder Price has learnt a little humility alongside his propensity towards vulgarity.
(Or, Elder McKinley and Elder Thomas go missing after a routine trip.)
60. Rarefied Air
“Elder Price,” and Connor only called him that half wistfully and half in jest, although he looked deadly serious now, “are you attracted to me?” “No,” said Kevin, decisively. And even though it was the right answer, Kevin blushed and looked away, as though he was lying. “Oh,” Connor said, face paling even as his smile widened, “that’s good.”
In which Kevin wishes to experience temptation. It proves harder than expected.’
61. Nocturne
Kevin is sick; Connor cares for him. The subconscious is a strange thing. Price/McKinley, indulgent sick!fic. Part of the same universe as Rags to Rags but can be read as a stand-alone.
62. Dead Guy Walking
Heathers the Musical Dead Girl Walking!AU
What it says on the tin. With the District 9 Uganda Mission shut down and the weight of disappointment from the Church and his family riding on his shoulders, Connor decides that Heaven Father can forgive him for one more sin.
63. What’s One More Broken Rule?
The alcohol had been a gift from the villagers and, after a particularly bad day, the ex-Elders need a bit of a pick-me-up. With lowered inhibitions, Connor McKinley really starts letting his feelings out.
64. Cockblocked
Elders Price and McKinley have been hitting it off recently and all they want is a moment alone, but their 'prophet’ has other ideas.
65. Rivers Run
Former Elder McKinley hadn’t know what to expect when he heard that Kevin Price had been in an accident.
66. Cooking from the Soul
When it came time to pack his bag for Uganda, Kevin Price decided to bring with him the one thing from home that he knew would help him get through the next two years. But then the General stole it, and now that he’s been driven out of village, Kevin wants it back.
67. Let Food Be Thy Medicine
Kevin and Connor head over to Kimbay’s house to learn about traditional Ugandan recipes.
68. Kiss the Cook
Four times Connor failed in the kitchen, and one time he didn’t.
69. So Close
“A drabble about a time McKinley wishes he was dead”
70. Until We Both Fall Asleep
After date night, Kevin and Connor share a bed for the first time. It’s easier said than done.
71. Something Magical
If someone had told Kevin Price before his mission that someday he’d make a list of Awesome Date Ideas because he wanted to ask out his district leader, he wouldn’t have believed them. The only problem was, he couldn’t think of any awesome date ideas. He couldn’t even think of any mediocre date ideas. Clearly, Disney was the answer.
72. Not Today
Price had grabbed his arm just seconds ago, a strong grip at the elbow, and dragged him outside with no explanation. The other elders in the kitchen, making dinner and talking loudly with each other about market day tomorrow, had hardly spared them a glance. Now they were alone.
73. Mission: Prom
“a drabble about McKinley dancing”
74. I Went To Your Funeral
Written for a tumblr prompt: “I THOUGHT YOU’VE BEEN DEAD. FOR TEN YEARS. WHY ARE YOU ON MY FRONT DOORSTEP. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN. WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME CRY LIKE THIS I HATE THAT I LOVE YOU AND WHY DID YOU EVEN LEAVE IN THE FIRST PLACE.”
75. Frogs
When life is at an all-time low for Kevin, he’s reunited with an old friend from his mission who acts as a perfect distraction.
76. Gemstones
Elder Price has trouble ignoring Elder McKinley’s eyes.
77. Let In Light, Banish Shade
They’ve sat through the worst of the summer but the heat is dry and intense and Connor can’t help but picture snow. The fresh, damp kiss of a new start on his skin. For a moment he could almost picture it, could almost feel snow instead of sweat in his hair. For most of them this is going to be their first Christmas away from home, it is certainly Connor’s first Christmas away from his family and as District Leader it is Connor who has a responsibility for the welfare of his Elders. He should be able to provide them this, to make their first Christmas in Africa something incredible, something special.
78. A Fire Escape Symphony
And you, with your new born eyes, Have you ever loved a man like I love him? Do you hurt but still feel alive, like never before?
Connor has never had fire marshal training, the Missionary Training Center had focused on how to engage ill at ease people in conversations about religion, or about proper attire and social cues. They hadn’t taught what to do in the case of disaster. Perhaps, thinking back on their mission, they should have done.
79. A Collection of Firsts
After breaking away from the Church, Kevin Price knew he would be experiencing a series of firsts in his life. He just never expected Elder McKinley to be involved in so many of them.
A brief look at the many firsts shared between Connor and Kevin in their rapidly evolving relationship.
80. 1 Year
"So you know how Naba is finally coming here later?"
"You have literally been talking about nothing else since we came back from Uganda last November."
"Anyway, I may have organised a teensy tiny party..."
One year after Kevin and Arnold's mission on Naba's arrival to America, Arnold organises a party- oh- and Kevin's having some difficulty with a crush.
81. Planet Orlando
AU where your soulmate's name is printed somewhere on your body.
Kevin finds out Elder McKinley's first name.
82. Easter in Uganda
The villagers and missionaries in Uganda participate in some fun Easter activities! Light, fluffy fun with no angst or smut
83. Sweet Understanding
After Kevin's parents kick him out for being gay, he moves in with Connor McKinley.
84. All The Time In The World
Of Disney movies, and ten o'clock curfew, and Connect Four, and plane sex, and a whole lot more.
85. My name is-
Connor and Kevin share names, a sweet moment and a terrible secret before bed.
86. Work in progress
“Hell’s not all fire and sulphur, you know. Sometimes Hell is being reminded every night of what you want so badly but you know that you can’t have. Torture isn’t just pain, it’s discomfort, disillusion, disassociation; it’s being shown happiness and having it ripped out from underneath you.”
Elder Price and Elder McKinley get some things off their chest after a few not-so-spooky Mormon Hell Dreams.
87. Burst
He's got all his feelings locked away.
88. from salt to shore
“You know, I- When I went to Orlando, when I was a kid, y’know- When I went to Orlando, we road tripped there."
Or- the McPriceley road trip fanfic we all needed.
89. Roommate Wanted
Connor is kicked out of his home. Kevin needs a roommate. That's it. That's the summary.
Others
1. Untitled
Mark 5:2-5
And when He was come out of the ship, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
2. 12 Cups of Coffee
Arnold shows up at twelve cups of coffee; Elder McKinley came at six.
3. Just the Flu
4. Scream
5. Forget About the Other Boy (ChurchTarts)
Poptarts hears Kevin and Connor having sex and gets upset because he wants Connor. But he finds comfort and a little bit more in Elder Church.
6. Not So Long Ago When I Was Five
Kevin’s bad attitude gets him turned into a little kid by the village shaman and the other Elders try to fix him
7. Like One of Your French Boys (ChurchTarts)
Chris volunteers to be the drawing model for James’ art project.
8. Some Assembly Required (Churchtarts)
James and Chris buy a new bed from IKEA and attempt to build it without the instructions.
9. Peep Show (Churchtarts)
Things are getting heated in the mission quarters, and Elder McKinley has set up webcams all around the house to find out who has been tinkering with the thermostat. Much to his, and soon-to-be-wed Cunningham and his best man’s surprise, it’s not just the thermostat that’s being tinkered with.
10 Threnody
Exodus 11:4,6
“And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.”
11. The Answer
12. The Lion and the Lamb
Sequel to Threnody.
13. Falling
14. Thanksgiving
The holidays are the worst time to be lonely.
15. Wine Free Wine (ChurchTarts)
PT and Church spend a quiet night in, that is until they are interrupted.
16. Four States, One Journey (Though McPriceley at the end, more mentions of college life)
Life throws so many things at you that you don't expect. Rejection. Addiction. Doubt. Divorce. But maybe, with the right people in your life, it can still be greater than you ever imagined. Chronicles of the characters' lives post-Uganda.
17. Plus Nine (Hinted McPriceley but not so obvious)
The plan was simple, he and Elder Cunningham would talk about their objectives at the airport, say goodbye to their families with a smile, a hug and a handshake and then they would board their flight. Perhaps pray together for their mission to be a success, read up on the documents the Missionary Training Center had given them about District Nine, and then the two of them would loosen their ties and put their seats back to rest. They could sleep on the plane and wake up fresh faced and ready to start the most important two years of their lives.
The plan had little reflection on reality.
Or; Elder Price has jetlag, canon... doesn't actually change at all.
18. The Three Times Chris Thomas Tried to be Sexy, and the One Time He Was (ChurchTarts)
All Chris wanted to do was make sure James knew how much he loved him.
19. The One Where They Sleep Together (ChurchTarts)
The first time Chris and James slept together, it was a little unexpected.
20. The Other Team (ChurchTarts)
High school was hard enough for Chris Thomas without an attractive football player trying to lure him out of the closet - for all the wrong reasons.
21. Eyes on the Road (ChurchTarts)
Chris and James get pulled over after some less-than-safe driving antics. (Vague smut, nothing M-worthy.)
22. Making a Date (ChurchTarts)
The reality of the distance between them finally starts to set in, and Chris and James just need to see each other again.
23. Prom Night (ChurchTarts)
James wanted to make sure that prom would be special.
24. Long Distance (ChurchTarts)
Chris thought he could handle a week away from James.
25. Show and Tell (ChurchTarts)
Christopher Thomas always gets what he wants.
26. The Phone Call (ChurchTarts)
Letting his family know about his diagnosis was hard enough on Chris to begin with.
27. No Turning Back (ChurchTarts)
They were at that point in their relationship where they realized there was no turning back.
28. One Day at a Time (ChurchTarts)
It all started with a cough.
29. Lovestruck (ChurchTarts)
James Church and Chris Thomas thought they knew everything about each other.
30. Heading Home (ChurchTarts)
With their mission reaching its end, Elder Church realizes he's got nowhere to go. Elder Thomas wants to give him the home he deserves.
31. For The Both of Us
It was the one day of the year Christopher Thomas was guaranteed to have a Hell dream.
32. Letting it Out (ChurchTarts)
Elder Thomas thinks it's about time for Elder Church to let all his feelings out.
MORE TO COME (if there are more fanfictions for this fandom).

Children born with 2 teeth at birth marries each other @9 and 6years in Uganda
Two children aged nine and six were married in one of the most bizarre cultural events held in Nakapyata Village, Buyende Town Council in Buyende District in eastern Uganda. The boy, a Primary Four pupil at Buyende Light Primary School and the girl, who were both reportedly born with ‘two teeth’, were married on Monday and given a ‘matrimonial hut’ to live in as a couple. Under the laws of Uganda, it is illegal for persons under the age of 18 to get married or get involved in sexual intercourse. It is alleged the two children started ‘dating’ when the boy was three years old and the girl was just three months of age. The development would later galvanise the bond between both families, with Mr Delifazi Mulame, the boy’s father repeatedly referring to the girl as ‘my son’s wife’. “My son was born with two teeth and his wife was also born with two teeth. His birth came with overwhelming blessings and his name should unite both Baganda and Basoga ,” Mr Mulame said. Ms Barbra Namulesa, the boy’s teacher, described him as a disciplined, social, soft-spoken boy who speaks like an elder.
“I think this is the Kintu our forefathers talked about (in ancestral history). This one advises me despite being his teacher,’’ she said. Ms Mwadi Mutesi, 38, the girl’s mother said her daughter has been a revelation since she was born. “She started speaking immediately after birth! When I went into labour, I asked what baby it was and I was told it was a girl. However, the midwife stunned me when she said my baby had been born with two teeth and nearly dropped her,” the mother of seven said. “My immediate fear was how to breastfeed a baby with teeth. I was, however, comforted by my sister-in-law who was with me at hospital.” One of Ms Mutesi’s enduring moments, she says, is when the daughter, then aged one day, changed position by herself, causing visitors to flee the hospital ward. “Two days later, she started crying uncontrollably and an old woman appeared in my dreams dressed in old tatters. It was at this moment that I told my husband that I had enough of this girl,” she recounted. The “marriage function” which was graced with dances, left scores gripped by seizures as the boy and the girl sat adjacent to two three-feet long snakes which elders said are meant to protect the ‘couple’. Speaking to Monitor, the Busoga North Regional police spokesperson, Mr Michael Kasadha, said: “Any acts of marriage must be between people who are 18 years old and above. Below that, you cannot marry. We want to find out the real facts of what it is all about.”

the bake sale part 1
concept: poptarts is hosting a bake sale and is getting the other former district nine elders to help him out.
characters: christopher ‘poptarts’ thomas, kevin price, connor mckinley, arnold cunningham, james church, joseph schrader, david davis, jason neeley, alex zelder and john michaels. this wasn’t supposed to be in different parts yet here we are
It has been six months since their mission in Uganda ended and the elders of district nine returned back to the United States. During the two years they were there, they developed close friendships which were still strong to this day. Some were closer than others but overall, they were a tight knit bunch. They even moved to live in close proximity to one another so that they could meet up with ease.
One thing that Christopher Thomas couldn’t forget about was how severely the country was suffering from the outbreak of AIDS. Watching the epidemic unfold right in front of him hit Christopher particularly hard. He knew what it was like to lose someone you love to an incurable disease and he felt like he had to do something to help. He carried out a lot of research, finding out as much information as he possibly could regarding charities that he believed would provide the most beneficial results to areas that need assistance in the treatment and education on HIV and AIDS. He knew the perfect way to raise money, too; a bake sale.
It didn’t take him long to get into contact with his fellow missionaries once he got everything organised, in fact, they have a group chat that they actively use. However, that chat mainly consists of them recalling memories of their mission, Kevin bragging about the fact he did ‘something incredible’ and Arnold being generally clueless about everything that happens. Nothing really new or exciting. This, however, was extremely exciting. Chris grabbed his phone and instantly sent a 911 message into the chat. This generally means that there is an emergency and that they should all meet at the senders home immediately. This wasn’t an emergence, per se, but it was the only way he could grab their attention.
James was the first to arrive, followed by Kevin with Arnold and Connor and eventually everyone was huddled in Chris’ kitchen as he fumbled around the room, pulling food and equipment from the cupboards. He had many different tables set up in the rather large room. His home was rather large, too large for such a small person but today his rather big kitchen would come in handy as it would have to accommodate a wide range of different activities.
“Okay, Poptarts, what’s the big emergency?” Asked Kevin, his eyes following Chris who was yet to say a word on the situation.
“Yeah, why’d you call a 911?” James added.
“And why did you ask us to bring baking equipment?” Concluded Connor.
Using their first names was still extremely new to them. Even though their dedication to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints had slowly slipped away, they still referred to one another as ‘Elder’ up until a few short months ago when they finally agreed to use their real first names. It was strange, but they preferred it this way. Chris’ nickname, ‘Poptarts,’ hadn’t disappeared, though. In fact, he very rarely gets called ‘Chris’ unless he is in some kind of trouble.
“I called you here because I had a totally brilliant idea.” Chris responded as he was placing an array of ingredients onto his kitchen counter. “We are holding a bake sale!”
“We’re holding a what?” Questioned Joseph with a bemused look on his face, a look that was matched by most of the other males in the room.
“A bake sale! I was thinking today about our time in Africa and I decided I wanted to do more. Sure, we helped them with the Book of Arnold and everything but I don’t think that was enough.” He explains with a shrug of his shoulders. “I found all of these charities online that help fight AIDS in Africa and I thought we could raise money for them?” He adds, pushing his large, square glasses further up his nose as he awaited the reaction from the others.
“I think that’s a great idea.” Alex smiled, with James and David automatically repeating those same words.
“You do?” Chris smiled, too, his eyes shifting between all of his friends who nodded in reply.
“I don’t know how to bake, though.” John informed them which resulted in several other chiming in a quiet ‘me either’ afterwards.
“That doesn’t matter, just follow my lead and it’ll all be perfect!” He says excitedly as he grabs a notebook from next to him. “I’ve already assigned everyone a job!”
The other males in the room laughed at the fact that Chris had already organized the details before they had all even agreed to getting involved. Although, it was pretty clear that none of them could ever possibly say no to something like this. It wasn’t in their nature.
“Okay, so Price --”
“Yes, sir!” Kevin interrupts, gaining a large eruption of laughter from the group of boys, but he didn’t receive such a great reaction from Chris who gave him a glare, causing Kevin to stop back with an apologetic smile.
“You’re making cookies. Schrader, you’re on whoopie pie duty. Davis, you’re making cookies. Neeley’s doing cupcakes Zelder and Michaels, you guys are making cheesecakes and I will be making special handmade gourmet Poptarts. Oh and James, I want you working on the bake sale stall since you’re the creative one.” Chris explained as he read from his notebook.
“What about me?” Asked Connor, with David and Arnold wondering the same thing.
“Oh, you guys are on shopping duty. I have a list of ingredients I need you to get.” He informs them while ripping out a page from his notebook and handing it over in their direction. The obvious snubbing of these three in particular led to the others laughing in response.
“Why are we not allowed to bake?” Arnold’s tone was laced with slight offence which made the laughing get subsequently louder. Even Chris was laughing along.
“Because it was you three who almost burned down Kevin’s place when you tried to make Thanksgiving dinner. Ever since then we all made a vow to stop you guys from helping out in the kitchen.” John explained, causing the three boys in question to frown.
“Technically that was only Connor’s fault. He’s the one who forgot to take the turkey out of the oven.” David says, pointing a finger towards him.
“It was not my fault!”
“It totally was.”
“Okay you two, enough!” Chris interjected, his eyes rolling. “Just go to the store and grab what we need. When you come back we’ll see if you can help anyone out, alright?”
The three of them nodded before they turned around and swiftly exited the apartment, leaving Chris alone with the rest of the former missionaries who would more than likely need a lot of assistance to ensure that this was a success.
“Okay guys. Let’s get to work.”
#what even is this#the bake sale#im crying#not tagging this too much since this is just a mess of a thing#bom discord#its bc of those guys in there

Some unprompted McPriceley from a prompt list I reblogged ages ago which seemed like a good idea at the time but is actually kinda terrible
6. “You can’t die. Please don’t die.”
32. “This is, by far, the dumbest thing you’ve ever done.”
Warnings: car accidents, graphic descriptions of blood and injuries, mentions of death (although no one actually dies ^_^)
Connor didn’t know why Elder Price – no, just Kevin now, since the former Mormon poster-boy had decided to leave the church after their failed mission to Uganda – didn’t look both ways before crossing the road. All Connor knew was that one moment Kevin was running across the road to meet him after six long months apart, and the next moment he was thrown over the bonnet of a car, like he was an angel flying, except that he hit the pavement hard, and there was blood on the concrete, and someone was screaming. It took a moment for Connor to realise that it was him.
“Elder- Kevin! No, no, no no Kevin…” Connor mumbled as he knelt down beside the other man, lifting his head onto his lap.
Kevin groaned, softly at first as if he had just been woken up from a nap, before he winced and cried out in pain. There was a cut on his forehead that was deep enough to be bleeding pretty badly. “Holy… shit,” he muttered.
“Kevin. Kevin, look at me.” Kevin look up into Connor’s eyes, and Connor’s heart did a little flip.
Off.
“Elder McKinley?” Kevin asked, his voice strained.
Connor nodded. “Yes. It’s me. Oh gosh, Kevin. Um…” What could he do? What does one do when one’s close friend and subject of many not-so-spooky hell dreams gets hit by a car?
Call an ambulance, maybe?
Right.
Connor took out his phone and dialled 911 as fast as he could with shaking fingers. Kevin was still clearly in pain, and his right leg was bent in a direction that definitely wasn’t healthy. Connor took Kevin’s hand and squeezed it, ignoring how it was wet with blood. It was only then that he felt tears escaping down his cheeks.
“911, what is your emergency?”
“Uh, hi. My friend’s just been hit by a car, and he’s pretty banged up. I think his leg’s broken.”
“Okay. Can he move it?”
“Um, hold on.” Connor looked down at Kevin. “Kevin, can you move your legs?”
Kevin nodded, still grimacing in pain, and bent his legs. His left one seemed to be okay, but he let out a whimper when he tried to move his right one. “I can’t feel my right leg,” he said, his voice rising in panic. “It just hurts. Connor, it hurts-”
Connor shushed him, squeezing his hand again and ignoring how the butterflies in his stomach came out of hibernation.
Off.
“He can’t move his right leg, and he says he can’t feel it either.” Connor tried to keep his voice steady despite the panic that he was feeling as well. He thought back to the mission to Uganda, when he was District Leader of nine other Mormons. Nine other boys who depended on his level judgement and leadership skills. But the most he ever had to handle was a bloodstained Kevin Price, and even then the blood wasn’t his. But now…
“Sir? I need you to stay with me here.”
“Sorry, sorry. I’m here,” Connor took a deep breath and put on his District Leader face. Now was a more important time than any to turn off any feelings whatsoever, and that included fear.
“Where are you?”
“About twenty metres down the road from Nick’s Bar, a couple of miles out of Salt Lake City.”
“Okay. I’m afraid there’s quite a long waiting time before we can get an ambulance to you. About forty-five minutes.”
Connor swallowed. Forty-five minutes? The thing about emergencies was that they should be seen to immediately. That was the point of having an emergency line! He wasn’t sure if Kevin could take three quarters of an hour waiting. “Okay,” he said quietly, knowing better than to argue. “Is there anything I can do in the meantime?”
“What’s your friend’s name?”
“Kevin Price.”
“And what’s your name?”
“Connor McKinley.”
“All right, Connor, make sure that Kevin stays conscious, and keep the body as warm as you can.” ‘The body’ sounded as if Kevin was already dead. Which certainly wasn’t a nice thought.
“Will do. Thanks. Please be as fast as you can.”
“We will. Hang in there, Connor.” The line beeped and was cut off.
Kevin squeezed Connor’s hand. “How long is it gonna be?” he asked.
Connor sighed. “About forty-five minutes.”
“Shit,” Kevin groaned.
Connor shrugged off his jacket and lay it on Kevin’s legs. “I’ve got to keep you warm,” he said. “Also, what were you thinking, Kevin Price? Jaywalking? At night?” He flicked Kevin’s head with his free hand. “This is, by far, the dumbest thing you’ve ever done.”
Kevin let out a wet laugh. “I don’t think so. I raise you walking into a Ugandan warlord’s camp armed only with a temporarily restored belief in God.”
Connor chuckled. “Okay, you win. You really are dumb.”
Kevin nodded, and Connor could feel him shaking. “Connor, it really hurts.”
“I know. You just broke your leg, you’re going to feel a little pain. Just keep fighting for me, okay? Stay awake.”
“Don’t worry, I had, like, six cups of coffee today.”
Connor sighed. “That can’t be healthy.”
“Connor?”
“Yes?”
“Can you stay with me? Please?”
Connor sighed again and shook his head. “Did you think I was going to leave? I came out tonight to go to dinner with you, Kevin. Sorry, but I’m afraid you’re stuck with me.” Kevin winced. “What? What’s wrong?”
“Sorry. It’s just that I said to Arnold that I was stuck with him in Uganda and, well…” he took a shuddering breath. “I’ve was an asshole, wasn’t I? I’m so sorry, Connor.” Kevin was sobbing now.
“Hey.” Connor took Kevin’s other hand. “Hey, look at me. Yes, you were an asshole at the start of your mission in Uganda. But you changed. You convinced the rest of us to stay there and help out the villagers. You became selfless. You’re one of the bravest, kindest, dumbest people I know.”
Kevin squeezed Connor’s hand. “Thanks. I think.”
They sat in silence for a moment, both afraid to break it.
“Connor?”
“Yes, Kevin?”
“If I die-”
Connor gripped Kevin’s hands harder. “You’re not going to die, Kevin. It’s a broken leg. You- you can’t die. Please don’t die.” He felt tears falling down his cheeks again.
Kevin laughed. “Geez, Connor, I didn’t think anyone could get that emotional over my death. I’m not going to die.”
“Good.”
“Probably.”
“Kevin-”
“But if I do-”
“Kevin!”
“-I want to tell you something first, so shut the hell up!”
“Language,” Connor muttered under his breath.
“Elder McKinley…” Kevin sighed and looked into Connor’s eyes. Connor’s heart was going wild at the sight of Kevin’s large brown eyes, red-rimmed from crying but still beautiful. “Connor,” Kevin whispered. “I’m gay.”
Connor frowned. “That’s what you wanted to tell me? I mean, thanks for trusting me enough to come out to me, and I’m proud of you and everything, but really?”
Kevin shushed him. “There’s more. I realised I was gay a few weeks ago, when I talked to Arnold about some thoughts I was having… about you.”
Connor’s breath hitched. “You were having gay thoughts about me?”
Kevin nodded. “They started a while ago, back in Uganda, but I didn’t think much of them until they kept happening after the mission. So I talked to Arnold, and apparently he knew I was in love with you when we were in Uganda! Before I even knew!”
Connor felt his stomach drop. Kevin was in love with him?
He let go of Kevin’s hands, tears falling at a faster pace. Kevin frowned. “Connor? Are you okay? What’s wrong?”
Connor shook his head. “This is all wrong. You can’t torment me like that! Not when I’ve had these hell dreams every night. I know how it goes. You’ll tell me you love me then you’ll die or you’ll mock me for ever thinking I had a chance with you. It’s not real!”
Kevin grabbed Connor’s hand and held it away from his face, so that he could see Connor’s eyes. They were wide with panic. “Connor, I would never do that. And it breaks my heart to hear that you think I could ever hurt you. This is real. As much as I wish it weren’t, it is. And I’d prove it if I weren’t currently incapacitated.”
Connor shook his head. “How… how would you prove it?”
Kevin sighed and used his good leg to push himself up, grunting in pain. He held onto Connor with one arm and crashed his lips into Connor’s. The kiss was sloppy and wet with tears, but Connor felt electricity zip through him in a way that couldn’t be imagined.
Eventually Kevin pulled back. “That seem fake to you?”
Stunned into silence, Connor shook his head. “This is real, isn’t it?”
Kevin hummed a yes and lowered himself back onto Connor’s lap. “Can I tell you a secret?”
“Okay.”
“I was running across the road because I was so excited to see you. I was going to pick you up and kiss you, like in one of those cheesy romantic movies.”
Connor laughed. “You got hit by a car because you wanted to kiss me?”
Kevin chuckled. “Pretty dumb, I know.”
Connor smiled as he heard sirens approaching. “I love you, you idiot.”

This time two days ago I’d just got out of the Eugene O'Neill Theatre having seen The Book of Mormon on Broadway (with @slightlytookish!) I am now back in the UK, and timezones are mysterious and cruel things and so I have inflicted my jetlag on everyone’s favourite Elder Price. Wikipedia states that jetlag can have “cognitive effects include poorer performance on mental tasks and concentration, increased fatigue, headaches, and irritability” so I thought I’d be mean. (Once I’ve got over my jetlag and had this beta’d I’ll AO3 it.)
Plus Nine Kevin Price centric. (McKinley/Price pre-relationship if you squint/want) Canon compliant.
Sleep came easily to Kevin Price, it always had. His bedtime routine had been set in stone since he’d been a young boy; he would say goodnight to his mom and dad, he and his brothers would brush their teeth huddled around the bathroom sink – Lucas helping Ethan, Jack elbowing Michael, and Sarah using their parents en-suite rather than sharing with the boys - and then Kevin would say his prayers, lay down in bed and think of Planet Orlando until those thoughts turned into dreams. Almost always of Planet Orlando.
And, apart from the one time that he snuck out of bed, and the consequences and dreams which followed, that had been Kevin’s night-time routine for nineteen years. He got into bed, he slept, he dreamt and then he woke up. He didn’t oversleep or complain about having to get up in the mornings, always getting at least eight hours, if not nine. He’d make his best crisply first thing in the morning after he work up, and plumped his cushions ready for the night ahead.
Sleep had come easily at the Missionary Training Center too. The days had been full of work, rewarding and sometimes repetitive, but not hard, and Kevin had always been ready to learn. He couldn’t be the best if he didn’t know more than everybody else, so he applied himself and at night dreamt of the Epcot Center and having his photograph taken with Mickey Mouse. The framed picture of Kevin, all teeth and sunburn with Mickey’s hand on his shoulder - taken when Kevin was nine and learning the wonders of Orlando for the first time – had the rest of his siblings in too, and Kevin didn’t think that it was too selfish to want a picture that was just for him.
He’d never flown internationally before. Kevin had slept all the way to Orlando, and it had appeared out the plane window like a dream in his childhood, and there was part of Kevin, that part that was still a child and not a man grown and about to go and spread the word. There was a part of Kevin that expected his mission to start in the same way, a fresh slate. Scene change and suddenly, Uganda.
That wasn’t, it turned out, how international travel worked. It had seemed very civilised for their flight time to be at 4:26, they could sleep on the plane and wake up fresh faced and ready to start the most important two years of their lives. It was Wednesday afternoon when they left Salt Lake City, and Friday evening when they arrived in Kitguli. Flight delays, nearly missed connections and two plane transfers not to mention the late bus meant that they had been travelling for nearly 42 hours, and his new companion had been talking almost non-stop. When Elder Cunningham hadn’t been talking, or filming – “Elder, what do you think about the fact that we might miss our next flight?” “Elder Price, look they’ve got Star Trek on the inflight entertainment system, we should totally watch it together!” “Best friend! Can I have your snacks?” – he had been snoring. Loudly. But Kevin couldn’t sleep, they had been forever chasing sunrises but he couldn’t afford not to be present, this was where Heavenly Father said that he should be, and Heavenly Father wasn’t wrong. There had to be a reason for this, and that reason would be found in Uganda.
Kevin is tired down to the very bones of himself, but, this – men with guns rifling through their cases and stealing their belongings, a blasphemous deprived people who have dismissed the presence of the Latter Day Saints in their village for months - somehow is what Heavenly Father wants of him so that he can get everything that he’s always wanted. And so he has to work for it – if it were easy then it wouldn’t be incredible? Right?
It’s overwhelming and loud, and the village is bustling and bright even at this hour, and for a moment Kevin imagines that the Mission Hut is going to be an oasis of calm, they are Mormons after all. The Elders should be settling down to get ready for sleep, the District Leader, McKinley, should meet them, shake their hands and give them a gentle introduction to progress in the village. And then Kevin can sleep. Once he’s slept, then he can start again. He doesn’t know what day it is.
He finds himself dancing. He wonders, briefly, whether this is twisted take on a Hell Dream. Could this be his punishment for contemplating the complimentary coffee on the plane? Or for judging his new companion? Elder Cunningham isn’t really that bad, and Kevin is tired, and confused. But no, he is unfortunately awake and the dancing is really happening. At least his District Leader appears to be pleased by it. It must be hard to be having gay thoughts, Kevin admires him. He also wishes that he would be quiet.
The bedroom issued to Elder Cunningham and himself is cramped, pokey and dark. It blessedly has two uncomfortable looking single beds, he imagines that Elder Cunningham will want the bed nearest the window – and at this moment Kevin could care less, as long as he can sleep. His prayers are silent, conducted as he undresses, surely Heavenly Father can’t begrudge him for that, and he’s almost settled into blissful silence, when Elder Cunningham starts talking. And Kevin is tired, and exhausted, and starting to run out of patience with his companion, but he can’t not acknowledge Elder Cunningham’s uncertainty. Elder Cunningham has tried to bolster his emotions, not that he needs it, but he’s reminded Kevin that he can do something incredible, and Elder Cunningham’s father should be proud of his son, Cunningham isn’t a bad person, just… intense. He hopes that Cunningham calms down in the morning, that a night’s sleep will be good for both of them and that the world will align itself properly tomorrow.
It doesn’t.
Kevin wakes up tired with a faint headache pounding at his temple, and the day doesn’t get better from there. He should be snappier with his answers, he’s practiced and learnt and he knows these stories and the best ways to introduce people into the Church. But he stumbles when Dr Gotswana starts talking about maggots in unsavoury places, taking longer than he should to pull his concentration back.
Cunningham isn’t helping, and that isn’t fair and he knows it because he can see how much Elder Cunningham is trying to help, but Kevin is light headed and tired. The noise of a gunshot is enough to startle him into semi-consciousness. The sensation of blood is a strange one, warm and tacky. When he yawns he gets blood on his palm. He was standing in front of Elder Cunningham when the General shot the village’s butcher in the face – Kevin can’t remember his name, and he wants to cry and he’s never been an expressively emotional person, at least, not for negative emotions, he should always wear a smile, but he just can’t at the moment, it is too much here – so he is drenched and tired and shocked, while Elder Cunningham is dry, and alert and why had Elder Cunningham’s prayer been answered?
It shouldn’t have been so hard to work out what the right thing to do was, granted, these circumstances were exceptional but there were rules and Kevin had always followed them. But those rules had led him here. They should have led him to Orlando. His incredible journey should have led him there.
And then, it did.
A Hell Dream isn’t restful at the best of times, and these are the worst of times. The dream is vivid, and bright, feathered and sequined, and horrific. It seems to last and lifetime, at least ten hours of his life has been lost to the redness. He’s almost euphoric when he awakens; fear, adrenaline and righteousness pounding through him.
The village is going to be saved, and Kevin is the one who is going to do it. Up until Kevin needs to be saved, and it turns out that it is the village who does it. The village and Nabulungi, and the pageant, and Arnold Cunningham, his best friend.
The days between the events of the General, and the hospital and the baptisms and the Mission President’s visit blur into one. Kevin can’t rest, and when he finds himself stopping then he can’t bear to stop. It’s too much to try and think, it feels as though he hasn’t slept in weeks, and that he hasn’t felt peace in far longer. None of what has passed makes any sense, his head pounds, his body aches he feels violated and confused and - “of course you woke up, you drank twelve cups of coffee!”
But he hasn’t slept.
When they were seven years old Jack had stayed up all night. He’d tried to make Kevin stay up too, saying that it would be fun that they could tell scary stories and sneak around the house, maybe watch some TV or play games while the rest of the house was sleeping. But Kevin had said his prayers and tucked himself into his neatly made bed. The next day Jack was giddy with lack of sleep, he’d rocked on his hands and giggled into his cereal and he’d been sent to bed early without any dessert the next day. Kevin felt like that, watching the car-crash of the pageant unfold in front of him he could barely contain his giddy joy at the misfortune they found themselves in. As though it was happening to somebody else, as though other people were going to suffer for this, as though there were no consequences for them.
And then, at McKinleys and Cunningham’s and Nabulungi’s faces he felt the true magnitude of the action rock into him like the swell hitting the bow of a boat. Understanding, actual understanding, like Joseph Smith at the moment of his death, you have to believe the words because of what they can do for you, and not just what they say or who said them. Arnold Cunningham had created an Orlando, it had never been about getting Planet Orlando, but about making that within yourself.
Kevin smiled, delirious.
When Kevin woke up he was twisted onto the couch in the living quarters of the Mission Hut, a grown man curled up under a soft pink blanket that wasn’t his. Kinks in his back and a crick in his neck, eyelids still heavy with sleep, a dry mouth, a rested body and a ready soul. It was time to wake up, something unexpected and incredible was about to begin.

Murlikant Petkar
Starting Blog with some question ?????
Do you know Mr. Murlikant Petkar or Have you ever heard about him ????? ( If not Don’t worry you’ll know each & every detail about him in Few Months, A Biopic is planned on His life & Sushant Singh Rajput is playing lead)
Who is first person who won Individual Gold Medal in any Form of Olympics ???? Sadly many of us don’t know about, some may say Abhinav Bindra & in Paralympics Mr. Devendra Jhajharia who won recently last year.
Many of us don’t know about Mr. Murlikant Petkar, I was also not aware till I saw one old Interview of Rahul Dravid where he mentioned his Name & shared some glimpse about his life. I am surprise why Movie is not been made on his Life, If you read his life story it will have all elements.
He has shared his life journey with Mr. Sanjay Mishra & is available in book Courage beyond Compare.
Here I am sharing few glimpse of His Life Journey.
He is born in 1947 in Islampur Village in Maharashtra’s Sangali District.
From childhood he was interested in Sports from Hockey, football, to rural sports like gilli- danda, kabaddi, kho kho etc. Satara belt is famous for Wrestling & joined local akhada which was run by Ganpat Rao Khedkar. He was enjoying in Training & wanted to become professional Wrestler at that time his age was only 12 Years old. But Life took an amazing Turn (according to him it was amazing)
Murli took part in Exhibition Bout in Local Dangal ( Now we all know what Dangal is) & competed against Shivaji Patil ( Son of Headman of Village where Dangal was taking place) but it became competitive & he defeated Shivaji convincingly.
Someone in the crowd shouted Khedkar deliberately trained Murli to defeat Shivaji so that Headman of Village looks small in front of whole Village & even turned ugly & crowd started braying for blood of Murli. Khedkar assessing the situation ran away towards Highway. Murli took lift in Truck & landed in Pune where he hardly knows any one.
Next day morning he went to one of his relative & stays at his place for a week, after a week his uncle took him to local Army recruitment Centre, on same day he was made to be part of the Boys Battalion of Army & at 4 pm he was put to train to Bangalore. Year was 1960, He was just 12 Years old not even Teenager.
Within a year or so he became really good at Hockey & scored many goals for his battalion. He was dropped twice from Karnataka team because He was Maratha boy & they wanted local boy from Karnataka. Upset with this treatment he vowed never to play hockey again & started taking interest in martial arts, boxing & hand to hand combat training. His favourite sport was boxing because there either your teeth got broke or you broke opponent’s teeth, No Bhaigiri as in Hockey. He was so good at it that very soon he won all major Tournaments & was selected to represent to Indian Army at the International Service Sports meet to be held in Tokyo. He went to the Final of event where he faced boy from Uganda who hit him so hard in second round that He was knocked out for two days but he learnt a lot from that Trip & continued to play in nationals & won Tournaments.
The General Officer Commanding Southern Command was sportsman himself & was very happy with National Title Murli won for his Command. As a reward he was asked to go on Trip sponsored by the Army & he asked to go to Kashmir. This one decision was to change Murli’s life yet again totally & in the most dramatic fashion.
Along with ten other boys Murli landed in Kashmir & transferred to the 108 Gurkha regiment. He visited few places. On his tenth day every one heard long wail of Siren which was actually war siren announcing unprovoked attack by Pakistan Air Force (PAF). Gurkha Regiment was so closed to Border & was a priority target for the PAF. Many soldiers died on the spot. Their Leader Halvinder Gurung Thapa immediately ordered to battalion along with Murli to take defensive position to the front of Sialkot.
In a firing from top from Pakistani Force he was hit by nine bullets. One bounced of his skull fracturing it, one skid past his right cheekbone dampening his eye. One hit his spine & lodged there, while one went through the shoulder. Both thighs were hit and both calves as well. The impact of bullets was such that he was thrown from his position to the road below and there an army jeep passing by could not stop in time & went over my leg. He screamed in pain & lost consciousness thereafter.
His condition was so bad that he had been shifted from one hospital to another and landed in Delhi after some seventeen months. He had lost his memory and did not remember his own name.
One day he was lying at the edge of his bed & got knocked off the bed and hit his head hard on the floor. Unbelievably and in true Bollywood style, he suddenly regained his memory & remembered everything and he was informed that he was 95% paralyzed & no control on urination & bowl movement & wheelchair bound for Life. He was just nineteen years old at that time & undergone seven major surgeries & one bullet still lodged in his spine which Doctor refused to remove for the danger it would pose to the spinal cord. On his request he was shifted to Maharashtra & shifted to INS Ashwini – Navy’s premium Hospital in Mumbai. This was going to change in his life big way.
At INS Ashwini he fell into a daily schedule which saw him swimming and playing other sports like shot put, archery, table tennis, javelin etc, Swimming was basically a therapy to strengthen his back & shoulders.
Somewhere in middle of 1967 he finally meets his parents who came along with his Elder brother. They were aghast seeing his condition. His father & brother were shell shocked and didn’t talk with him at first. He told them that he was now thinking of leaving Army as it had no place for a handicapped Soldier & he would like to join school back home, educate himself & try to be earning member, His brother said no one can take care of you as he had no control on his bowl moment & he would be burden on family because he is Langda, His father kept quite & mother kept crying. He was so hurt with this outburst.
He was so disturbed with the event he decided to commit suicide by swallowing lots of sleeping pills, On the day when he decided to end his life Hospital sweeper came running to him & ask for 10 rupees to play Matka (Gambling), Sweeper requested him to also play. He agreed & gives Rs. 100 instead of Rs. 10 to sweeper & another 100 from his side for gambling & asked to put money on One Number more than sweeper.
He gulped Sleeping pills along with Alcohol but destiny took another turn he didn’t died of it & vomited next day morning till his stomach was empty. At around 9 AM sweeper came screaming with joy along with someone to his room & informed him that he ( Murlikant) had won Rs. 40,000/- in Gambling. He was stunned & didn’t know how to react & to his surprise first time after long time he felt sensation and need to urinate. He donated all money to National Association of Blind.
After giving away all money he decided to start his new life & decided to do well in sports. With help of his coach Jawahar & Vijay Merchant Trust he started Swimming at Navy pool in Colaba, with nothing else to do whole day he started playing archery, shot put, javelin, table tennis, wheel chair racing etc.
He started playing in competitive paraplegic events & won Gold Medal in archery, table tennis, Shot put, discus throw, javelin throw & weight lifting in State Championship. He won four Gold Medals in National Paraplegic Games between 1968 to 1973. Realising his potential Coach Jawahar thought he could be medal Winners at International Event. He started Training,
He took part in 1969 Stoke Mendeville International Paraplegic Meet, He entered in fifty meter freestyle swimming & shot put, & won very first International Gold medal for India in Paraplegic Games & medal was given by Queen Elizabeth. Same year he went to Mexico & also won Gold Medal there in Swimming.
He was qualified for 50 meter free style swimming; javelin & shot put throw in 1970 Commonwealth Games. Broke Commonwealth Game Record & won Gold Medal in Swimming, Silver in javelin throw & Bronze in Shot put. In 1971 Stoke Mendeville International Paraplegic Meet he once again won Gold in Swimming & Silver in Javelined throw.
Than he started preparing for 1972 Paralympic Games which were to be held immediately after Munich Olympics. He reached to the Finals in Swimming & made India proud by Winning India’s first ever Individual Gold Medal & set new World Record. No one has come so far one Individual Gold Medal either abled or disabled Olympics.
A few months later he decided to leave the Army & later joined TELCO but continued playing National & International Meets. From 1973 to 1984 he continued to dominate.
Winner of Gold Medal at Asian, Commonwealth & Paralympic Games from India, you might be thinking he has won all rewards & recognitions but He was recommended for Arjuna Award for 1973, 1974 & 1975, But for unknown reason He was denied with Arjuna Award. He was even overlooked for Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. In 1974 he was allotted some Land by Government of Maharashtra which was later taken back by Government.
So even after bringing so much Pride & Glory to country sadly we as a Country couldn’t give respect he undoubtedly deserved. We even don’t know who he is. But we all will definitely know him once Movie will be released.
He is definitely unsung Hero & his life story will definitely inspire us.

It's been five months since District 9 self-destructed. The ex-elders of Kitguli, Uganda have built a new mission in which they "help people out." No one really expected it to last even as long as it has, but as bonds have formed and plans have been shaped, they're finding a new sense of normalcy. In fact, 9 of them happen to be coping pretty dang well. 1 of them, though, is having a harder time.
