UFO Sighting Over the Canary Islands is Next Level Strange
In June 1976, over a million people in the Canary Islands witnessed a massive explosion of light in the sky, sparking rumors of UFO activity. Eyewitnesses, including a Spanish Navy captain, described a strange luminous phenomenon that left the region in awe. Declassified military documents later hinted at a more earthly explanation, with theories ranging from a secret U.S. missile launch to a rare atmospheric event. Despite ongoing investigations, the mystery remains unsolved. Was it a UFO, a military test, or something else entirely? Dive into this fascinating case and explore the possibilities.

iâm a lifelong UFO weirdo so hereâs some highlights of the House Oversight Committeeâs public hearing on UAPs/UFOs:
- Thereâs no chance these craft are from secret US government testing programs because they have specific testing fields that assets in development cannot leave without significant notice and military approval.
- Other world governments also know about this phenomenon. A declassified treaty included parameters for joint international de-escalation in the event of a âmalevolent UAP event.â
- All of the craft defy our current understanding of physics. They also look real weird. Descriptions given include a floating metal sphere with no visible propulsion and a black cube encased in a clear sphere.
- Nonhuman biologics have been recovered with crashes. Documentation of this exists.
- Nonhumans are no more infallible than us and also experience âmission failures,â which result in occasional manned and unmanned crashes.
- The first documented UFO incidents by the US military predate most of our advanced programs (1940s).
- UAPs have retaliated against humans, but the howâs and whyâs were not given.
- There is a section of government that has been aggressively covering up the existence of UAPs/nonhuman remains, and they have used violence/the threat of violence to silence witnesses.
- There is a list of witnesses, which will be provided to the committee in a closed door session, that have firsthand knowledge/interaction with these craft. There is also a list of US defense contractors in possession of UAPs that is also being given to Congress in the closed door session.
- UAPs are difficult to document, even with our current technology, because they can shut down information collection systems in our most advanced planes. One photo of a UAP shot down recently had to be taken manually by the pilot.
- UAP encounters are now so common that theyâre included as part of military pilotsâ pre-flight briefings.
- âHas the US government contacted or communicated with nonhumans?â (long pause) âThat is not a question Iâm allowed to answer publicly.â
- At the end of the hearing: âWeâve made history here today.â
- Congress intends to follow up on this matter, and will invoke specific laws to bypass security classifications if necessary.
#current events#us politics#i guess#ufos#ufo news#uap#this is and i cannot stress this enough#a matter of congressional record now#and is beginning the process of discovery and disclosure#government moves slow but#this is the beginning#and i honestly never thought i would see it

The Kelly-Hopkinsville encounter in Kentucky.
On the evening of August 21, 1955, five adults and seven children arrived at the Hopkinsville police station claiming that small alien creatures from a spaceship were attacking their farmhouse, and that they had been holding them off with gunfire "for nearly four hours". Two of the adults, Elmer Sutton and Billy Ray Taylor, claimed they had been shooting at a few short, dark figures who repeatedly popped up at the doorway or peered into the windows. The Kentucky New Era, the first paper to report the incident, amplified the number to "12 to 15," and that number continues to be reported.
Concerned about a possible gun battle between local citizens, four city police officers, five state troopers, three deputy sheriffs, and four military police officers from the nearby United States Army Fort Campbell drove to the Sutton farmhouse located near the town of Kelly in Christian County. Their search yielded nothing apart from evidence of gunfire and holes in window and door screens made by firearms.
Residents of the farmhouse included Glennie Lankford, her children, Lonnie, Charlton, and Mary, two sons from a previous marriage, Elmer "Lucky" Sutton, John Charley "J.C." Sutton, their respective wives Vera and Alene, Alene's brother O.P. Baker, Billy Ray Taylor, and his wife June. Both the Taylors, "Lucky," and Vera Sutton were reportedly itinerant carnival workers who were visiting the farmhouse. The next day, neighbors told two officers that the families had "packed up and left" after claiming "the creatures had returned about 3:30 in the morning."
UFOlogists regard it as one of the most significant and well-documented cases in the history of UFO incidents, while skeptics say the reports were due to "the effects of excitement" and misidentification of natural phenomena such as meteors and owls. The United States Air Force classified the alleged incident as a hoax in the Project Blue Book files.

i love women with interesting interests. can you tell me something about ufos ms lobotomy lady :)
YEAS. đ˝đ¸
so the checklist that ufologists use to classify UAP encounters & determine which ones could actually be an anomalous phenomenon rather than a normal object that's been misidentified is called the five observables & they are as follows!
-instantaneous acceleration & maneuverability
-hypersonic speeds w/no heat or acoustic or electromagnetic signatures left behind (we don't know of anything that breaks the sound barrier without a sonic boom. UAPs are silent).
-trans-medium travel (breaking the laws of physics as we understand them)
-positive lift (weird aerodynamics that we can't explain)
-low observability (relates to their elusiveness, their ability to seemingly disappear & reappear at will)
the crazy thing is we have reliable videos, radar data & eyewitness testimony from military encounters w/objects that meet all of the above criteria. I still cannot believe that we have scientific data proving the existence of crafts that cannot possibly be of human origin bc they are thousands of years ahead of us technologically. we are not alone & we have so much cool stuff to learn about the universe still. big reason I'll never kill myself is bc I'd hate to miss first contact

the median nature/wilderness guide is like. 40something woman named Joan; more terrifyingly fit than you'll ever be but has never been to a Real Gym TM in her life; dropped out of college but reads more voraciously than like 95% of college grads; spent some time in the military but is vague about it in a "smells like PTSD" kinda way; utterly inscrutable politics outside of a general interest in UFOs; is somewhat cagey when mentioning their partner s.t. it's entirely unclear whether the partner is another woman, an ex-con, a partner-in-a-heist-kinda-way, or a UFO fanatic; laughs a lot; has specific names for specific rocks you encounter; talks to deer like they're people. and god i love her so much
#this sounds like i'm talking about someone specific#but i swear i've been on a lot of random wilderness stuff and all these traits are weirdly common lol

The Search for Alien Life and the Mystery of UFOs: A Scientific Perspective
The possibility of alien life existing in the universe has long fascinated humans, sparking intense debate and speculation. The Fermi Paradox, first proposed by physicist Enrico Fermi, asks, "Where is everybody?" or, more specifically, "Why haven't we encountered any signs of intelligent extraterrestrial life?" This paradox has led to a range of hypotheses, from the optimistic view that intelligent life is abundant in the universe to the pessimistic view that we are alone.
From a scientific perspective, the probability of intelligent life existing elsewhere in the universe is not zero. In fact, the Drake equation, developed by Dr. Frank Drake, estimates the number of extraterrestrial civilizations in the galaxy that might be able to communicate with us. While the equation is based on a series of variables that are difficult to estimate, it suggests that the probability of intelligent life existing elsewhere in the universe is quite high. For example, if we assume that 10% of stars have a planet in the habitable zone, and that 10% of those planets develop intelligent life, and that 10% of those civilizations develop a technology that allows them to communicate with us, then the number of extraterrestrial civilizations in the galaxy that might be able to communicate with us is estimated to be in the thousands.
However, the search for extraterrestrial life is not just about probability; it's also about the possibility of detection. The universe is vast, and the distances between stars are enormous, making it difficult to detect signs of life. The speed of light is the maximum speed at which any object can travel, and even at this speed, it would take many years to reach the nearest star outside of our solar system. This has led to the development of alternative theories, such as the idea of a Von Neumann probe, a self-replicating machine that could travel to other star systems and establish a presence without the need for faster-than-light travel.
The possibility of alien life is not just a theoretical concept; it has also been explored in the context of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) sightings. UAPs are sightings of unidentified flying objects that cannot be explained by known natural phenomena or man-made objects. While some UAP sightings can be explained by misidentification of natural phenomena or man-made objects, others remain unexplained. The US government's All Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), was established to investigate UAP sightings and determine their origin. Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, the former director of AARO, has stated that the office's approach was to follow the data and be open to all hypotheses, including the possibility of alien life.
However, the search for alien life is not just about the possibility of detection; it's also about the possibility of explanation. The military sensors used to detect UAPs are designed to identify large, fast-moving objects, such as missiles or aircraft, and are not designed to detect smaller, slower-moving objects such as drones or weather balloons. This means that many UAP sightings can be explained by the presence of these types of objects, and the remaining unexplained sightings do not necessarily imply the presence of alien life.
In fact, Dr. Kirkpatrick has stated that none of the data collected by AARO supported the theory of alien life, and that the office's rigorous scientific method was used to test a range of hypotheses, including the possibility of advanced technology or natural phenomena. This suggests that the search for alien life is a complex and multifaceted issue that requires a nuanced approach.
Despite the challenges and uncertainties involved, the search for alien life remains an exciting and important area of research. The possibility of discovering evidence of extraterrestrial life would be a groundbreaking finding that would have significant implications for our understanding of the universe and our place within it. It would also raise new questions and challenges, such as the ethics of communication with alien life and the potential consequences of making contact.

Have you ever heard of a podcast called Monstrous Agonies? It's an advice segment for creatures of the night, and I think it's really good. (They're also here on tumblr @monstrousagonies.) Asking because I realized you've reblogged the same types of posts as they have, which tells me you have similar tastes in at least some things, and also because I always want to share things I think are awesome. (All their episodes have transcripts, so one can read the stuff if listening to it might be a problem; great for ADHD, also great for when there was noisy construction going on outside.)
I listen to non-fiction podcasts (and videos) a lot! Especially when drawing. I will give a try to this podcast series, even though it's fictional.
I typically listen to peoples' experiences, like near-death experiences, cryptid encounters, paranormal encounters etc. My newest favorite is The Why Files, which is an investigating journalism channel or various topics as different paranormal encounters, CIA, UFOs, conspiracy theories like is the Moon a man-made object, secret USA military projects, time traveling etc. Always with the question "Is this REALLY true and if not, here are the facts supporting it and if yes, here are the facts supporting that". Highly fascinating and well composed, unbiased series!
Other channels I listen to are
Mom on the spectrum Taylor, a mom of 2, tells about her journey to autism diagnosis at the age of 32, and about life as an autistic, adult woman. Very informative, not a v-blog.
Weird World Stories of peoples' paranormal encounters, glitches in the matrix, past lives etc. unexplainable.
Darkness Prevails The best channel for all kinds of paranormal encounters! Contains tons of cryptid encounters, too.
Dogman Encounters An online "radio" program which interviews face-to-face people who have encounteres dogmen cryptids.
Raven Reads Tons of paranormal encounters of myriad of kinds! Typically sent to Raven directly. Raven also makes 5-10h long video compilations.
Absolute History Super amazing British history channel with short episodes of varied historical topics! These are made to be watched but you can follow them by listening, too.
What Lurks Beneath I haven't been listening to this channel much after it changed its format but the older episodes, which are just read compilations of peoples' paranormal experiences are amazing, especially the military encounters. These helped me to stay sane when I was recovering from a surgery and was in agony.
Paranormal Rising Another excellent channel for all kinds of paranormal experiences people have reported to have!
Anita Moorjani Official I love Anita and listen to her videos whenever I can. Anita is a spiritual speaker and a teacher, helping people to discover their own joyous lives.
Irish in Finland As it says, an Irish man lives in Finland with his Finnish wife. He makes lots of videos about Finnish mythology, history and ancient culture. Probably the best source for Finnish folklore history!
NDE Diary People tell about their near-death experiences. This is one of the best NDE channels if you ask me, as some of the American run NDE channels concentrate on NDEs which align only with Christian values. I want to listen to all kinds of experiences, not just something which supports one religion's views.
Thanatos TV EN An English version (dubbed) of a German channel, which interviews face-to-face German people who have had near-death experiences. Updates rarely but the quality is good.
SPECIAL MENTION - TO WATCH ăăăćCh - UsagimuraCh Usagimura - literally Rabbit Forest - is a Japanese breeder who breeds small rabbits. She always introduces newborn bunnies and follows their growth for a month. Videos have English subtitles, if you click them open. This is my happy mood channel!

BREAKING NEWS
SUPERMAN! MYSTERIOUS HERO SAVES THE WORLD
By Lois Lane, Senior Staff Writer
PUBLISHED: 23:00, 13th December 2013 | UPDATED: 23:46, 13th December 2013
STRANGE VISITOR? Satellite footage taken from Wayne Enterprises.
An epic showdown over the skies of metropolis, the caped wonder we now call Superman, along with the United States Air Force, defeated a group of alien terrorists attempting to destroy the city and ultimately, the world.
Days ago General Zod and his Kryptonian army invaded global airspace, and declared the citizens of the Earth were harbouring a fugitive from the planet called Krypton. As government agencies scrambled to respond, clues about the alien living among us had already been discovered deep beneath a glacier in the Canadian Arctic Region, specifically Ellesmere Island. Embedded with the military and scientific teams of NORTHCOM, I witnessed their detection of a mass concealed in the ice. It was first believed that what they had found was Soviet era submarine, what they discovered was actually something much more exotic.
Interestingly, a series of UFO sightings occurred in the Manitoba region between 1975 and 1976. A mysterious signal began to emanate from beneath the ice of Ellesmere Island sometime in 2012, which was detected by a NASA satellite. The satellite then picked out an anomaly within the ice shelves. A mission to scope the icefield was commissioned in 2012 at the same site as Scout Ship 0344. Only, the Scout Ship was discovered a year later when I arrived.
An isotope analysis of the surrounding ice bores suggested that an object had been trapped in the glacier for over 18,000 years. The Pentagon was quick to deny any such encounter, but when the ship broke through its icy bounds and disappeared into the sky, questions were raised from locals in the area. Civilian contractors corroborated my recollection and their description of the ship matched my own. I had a firsthand experience in dealing with the alien visitor. He had secured a job working on the military base stationed just outside of Yellowknife, the capital, and the only city, and has the largest community in the Northwest Territories of Canada.
I followed the mystery man into the glacier, when I was scoping the area. He seemed to have known how the ship operated and activated it successfully. He rescued me when I was wounded from a Kryptonian robot, he possessed godlike strength and could shoot heat lasers from his eyes. My rescuer saved me from death, for which I am eternally grateful. I was unable to regain consciousness for a prolonged period of time and when I woke up, I was taken back to mainland Canada by military personnel with no answers from my questions posed by this appearance of an alien ship.
As for my rescuer? He disappeared during the object's departure. A background check revealed that his work history and identity had been falsified. The questions raised by my rescuer's existence were frightening to contemplate, but I also know what I saw I arrived at the inescapable conclusion that the object and its occupant did not originate on earth. Teams from across the world tried to track the ship, but were unable to locate its whereabouts.
MORE ON THIS DEVELOPING STORY IN TOMORROW'S EARLY EDITION... REPORTING ON THE PLANET, DAILY.

Yapping about my rlly cool oc Veizon (NOT VERIZON) under keep reading
(Itâs actually liek REALLY long. If u donât wanna scroll far donât underestimate this warning)
Firstly, itâs better to show the characters. Veizon is obviously the Gnarpian and Riley is the human.
Lore shit
Veizon is a former soldier to the Gnarpian military who USED TO take part in the experiments. Veizon soon realised how wrong and inhumane the experiments were and attempted to leave the army. But because Veizon was born with blue fur, (sigh.. headcanon, this needs explaining. I headcanon Gnarpians to be VERY strict with their 'fur colour code' thing,, if you're born with blue fur, it's legally required you become a soldier for your LIFE, start training at a young age, yadda yadda. same with green or purple fur!) Veizon was told ze wasn't allowed to leave due this, because that would be breaking the law on Gars. Because of this, Veizon made the decision to leave Gars, as it was the best way to leave the program.
Hint.. spoiler? EEUH.. FACT?? Veizon got caught the first attempt trying to escape and (AGAIN, headcanon, but also a little canon providing the Gnarpians canon violent n evil tendencies..) Veizon got punished for zyr attempt and ended up with a few scars and such. Yadda yadda, blah blah.. you get the point.
Now! Veizon didn't try to escape the second time until around a year after ze got caught since ze was being monitored, but ended up finally being allowed to go on another mission thingy, but ended up letting the victim free and running off. Which, was risky since it was a group mission. 3 out of 4 people got captured, the person let free by Veizon HAD attacked Veizon from fear of being experimented on, for a bit more detail, the person had been captured, but Veizon went and tried to let them free, the person had already been injected with a substance (Now this, is a headcanon by my friend) that stops aging for an experiment so the effects and development of the experiments can be monitored. This person was already trapped in the UFO and were definitely going to be experimented on if Veizon hadn't actually risked it to save someone. Once the person escaped, they were reasonably scared and attacked Veizon to set zem back before running off into the forest to get away. Veizon hid in the forest for a while before finally figuring ze was probably safe to wander around. Ze ended up tumbling into a.. random bunker.
A LOONG time later (maybe three,, to five months?), and got knocked out before even being able to get up. BOOM! Ze woke up tied to a chair, or something and someone was standing in front of them, holding a bat like they were ready to swing. Veizon, reasonably panicked, before realising the resemblance to the person ze let run away a while ago.. with some... very obvious differences, being white dyed hair and lighter skin due to not being exposed to the sun too often, being in a bunker... and a forest. Veizon could recognise the face. Veizon immediately started explaining zyr situation with zyr.. at the moment, very bad English skills but were luckily understood.
Veizon was stuck to the chair for a while, eventually learning that the persons name was Riley after a lot of attempts at conversation. It took a while before Veizon was actually allowed to be untied, and was finally actually allowed to eat on zyr own without being fed by Riley. Yes, Veizon was being fed. Which... was just cat food that was mainly spat out on the floor... being a pain for Riley to clean. Riley didn't really... know what Veizon was meant to eat. Seeing a was a catlike creature, they just assumed. But ze luckily got proper food after a while. Of course, Riley was still very wary about Veizon and actually letting zem stay in the bunker, but Veizon was promising not to be a problem to Riley and was constantly apologising about the first encounter that they had together.
Still apologising about it sometimes in the present. Riley finally trust Veizon enough to actually let zem stay in the bunker. Riley and Veizon became friends after quite a while, and Veizon even had zyr own bed..! Which was... literally just a large dog/cat bed laid on the floor. Veizon didn't really complain.
It was comfortable! Riley also agreed to start slightly teaching Veizon some better English, because what ze used was mostly old English and barely understandable. Riley just wanted to be able to actually understand Veizon for once. Zyr English skills got better and ze was eventually pretty much fluent in the language. Riley even asked Veizon to teach them some Gnarpian! woohoo!
Epic cool facts
Veizon
⢠Veizon is a very tired thing. One for just struggling to sleep in general and two for sometimes being woken up by Riley's guitar. THAT, however, can set zem in a bad mood for a while.
⢠Veizon is NOT at all in good terms with Gnarpy. Canonly, Gnarpy has no idea where Veizon is. But if ze was in Regretevator, they would interact of course.
⢠Veizon is actually quite short, compared to Riley. Zem being 5,9 and Riley being 6,8 (What i've been told)
⢠After warming up to Veizon, Riley expressed how they HATED Veizon's armour. Veizon showing similar dislike which is half and half to be just because ze wanted to be on Riley's good side or just generally disliked it. Riley got Veizon more comfortable and casual clothing afterward.
⢠Veizon tries to be nice, but sometimes does wound up getting mad if zyr tired or just generally not in the mood. Ends up apologising a LOT for what happened around 10 minutes later.
⢠Riley makes zem play splatoon. Ze most likely mains charger or dualies.
⢠Veizon REALLY likes apples. But doesn't like the skin.. at all. Asks Riley to peel it.
⢠If Veizon's second attempt of escaping failed, ze would've just given up.
⢠Veizon has extreme guilt for leaving zur family and friends without a word, except for Sylzia (very subtly, because zhe was only young) and Znarly. (another persons oc we merged lores with)
⢠Veizon probably started training to be a soldier at a VERY young age, around 6-7 years in human years. NOT by the army, by zyr parents preparing zem. Veizon would've started actually training in the army at around 13 in human years. I feel Gnarpian maturity work very differently dur to zyr violent lifestyles.
⢠In the present, Veizons age in human years is probably around 19-20 years old. yyeaahh..
⢠Ze was in the army for 5 or 6 years. 4 years being the timemark where ze realised how wrong it all was.
⢠Veizon has gotten drunk once. Ze decided never again after that.
⢠The reason Veizon didnt know the experiments were wrong was because ze was raised and influenced to believe it was okay, and it was for scientific purpouses and the survival of zyr species. (Going into the fact that Gnarpians are invasive)
⢠Due to the damage to zyr antennas in the past, ze cannot glow as light as say, zyr whiskers or tail.
⢠Veizon's worst fear is being forgotten. (yeah good job veizon after not telling more than half your family where you went so now rhey think your dead TUPID!)
⢠Veizon likes vanilla ice cream but Riley doesnât fucking buy it for zem and calls zem a basic bitch.
⢠Veizon learnt very old English on Gars, and when escaping to Earth had to learn modern English.
⢠Veizon and Riley would illegally watch movies together.
⢠Veizon is Aroace and Agender! Repulsed asexual but not completely lacking romantic attraction. Ze goes by Ze/They but mainly Ze/Zem. Veizon is more male presenting Iâd say.
⢠Veizon hates the fact that ze is a Gnarpian due to their horrendous reputation with experiments and invasions.
⢠Veizon memorises and repeats things that Riley has said.
⢠On one of zyr old missions, Veizon saw an ad for Verizon. Because Veizon didnât have a name and lots of Gnarpians were getting some, ze stole it. (This fact is to make it like a reason why the names are so similar. Verizon isnât in my country I didnât know about it until I first posted zem.)
⢠Veizonâs birthday is Feb 23rd!
⢠Veizon forgot about Riley, until waking up tied to a chair and seeing the feared look in their eye.
Riley (What Iâve been told)
(They werenât made by me, I merged lore with one of my friends, Seele!!)
⢠Riley, from what I was told, is around 14-16!
⢠Despite sort of being âmeanâ to Veizon, theyâre actually good friends.
⢠Riley is a Nonbinary Lesbian! Strictly They/Them pronouns.
⢠Riley used to have 3 friends. Riff, Tori, and Marie before the incident. (Mentioned in Veizonâs lore)
⢠Riley HATES Gnarpians, but Veizon is an exception. They would attempt to kill any other Gnarpian that came near the bunker.
⢠Riley knows something nobody else knows. (âŚnot even me/srs)
⢠Riley is possibly autistic.
⢠When Veizon landed zyr UFO outside of the bunker, Riley stole scraps of the UFO. Again, because they know something nobody else knows. (I WANNA KNOW PLEEEASEE SEELEâŚ)
⢠Riley is enemies with Sel. (Another oc of Seeleâs)
⢠Riley has nightmares.
⢠When Riley has a nightmare, they usually wake up screaming. Which also scares Veizon.
⢠Riley didnât always look like that, due to staying in the bunker constantly their skin went more pale, and they dyed their hair.
⢠Riley is extremely rich, which is the reason why they can live on their own at such a young age.
⢠Riley LOVES making friendship bracelets. They even made one for themself and Veizon, seen on Rileyâs gacha model but not Veizonâs.
⢠If Riley lost Veizon, theyâd probably put up posters like that âI lost my bitchass cat againâ poster.
⢠Riley plays horror games with Veizon and laughs at zem screaming.
⢠Rileyâs birthday is April 1st!
⢠Riley is a sort-of scientist, sometimes they steal a strand of Veizonâs fur to analyse it and learn more about Gnarpians.
⢠Upon seeing Veizon again after years/months, Riley had flashbacks to that day they lost their friends.
⢠Repeated fact but RILEYS POV! Riley HATED Veizonâs armour, and went to the mall to buy better clothes for zem. Clothes being:

Close Encounters of the Third KindÂ
By, Christian LavarelloÂ
I watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind for the first time, and I enjoyed this film very much and my respect for director Steven Spielberg has increased given the technical special effects utilized during this time and his imagination to bring it to life. The film was written and directed by Steven Spielberg and released in 1977. This film tells the story of main character Roy played by Richard Dreyfuss, an increasingly obsessed man with UFOs and subliminal messaging following his experience with extraterrestrial beings. Roy builds a model of the mountain in his home and his obsession causes a separation from his wife and children but drawing him closer towards parallel investigations being conducted by scientists and the military.
"I guess you've noticed something a little strange with Dad. It's okay, though, I'm still Dad" - Roy
youtube
Many critics have called this film revolutionary given itsâ creativity and special effects utilized during itsâ time and reviews from its' release date to current time have been mostly positive with some criticizing the story as an uneasy tension, specifically Royâs decision to leave his family behind. Other reviews such as the one from Reels Review states the following, âClose Encounters of the Third Kind is a great movie, but it also benefited from peerless timing. Released on the heels of Star Wars, it was able to absorb the pro-Science Fiction atmosphere that had arisen as a result of George Lucas' unexpected blockbuster. Suddenly, everyone was into stories about space and aliens. And, while Close Encounters is a much different film than Star Wars, it played to the same audienceâ. Rotten Tomatoes has rated this film at a 90% while the audience has rated it at 85% and The New York Times called it â...the bestâthe most elaborateâ1950's science fiction movie ever made, a work that borrows its narrative shape and its concerns from those earlier films, but enhances them with what looks like the latest developments in movie and space technologyâ.Â
Close Encounters of the Third Kind does not fit into one conventional or unconventional category; however most would argue that it does align with conventional films and I would agree, yet there are aspects of the film that tell the contrary. For example the film does not have any superstar actors or actresses and interesting enough I found out through some research that Meryl Streep auditioned and was not given a role in this film. Close Encounters of the Third Kind made a profit of $288 million worldwide, including $116.39 million in the United States and Canada, and $171.7 million in foreign countries. This film was the most successful Columbia Pictures film during the 70s. I found the style of the film to be form a connection with the viewers of this time that were highly involved with extraterrestrial beings that the aliens are friendly. For example, during the scene where scientists were attempting to communicate with the aliens there was a believable and compelling message about the way aliens used soothing and melodic music to communicate and this informed the audience that they were friendly.Â
Something additional that I found interesting was that in 1980, the the film was replaced by a 132-minute version, with the central section tightened and extra material showing the inside of the mother ship at end. On posters, but not on prints, this was subtitled The Special Edition. In 1998 a 137-minute collectorâs edition was issued on home video; this eliminates the inside of the mother ship but restores footage around the heroâs nervous breakdown. The film was also released in 2022 as the Close Encounter of The Third Kind: Amended. Overall, I found this film to be interesting and I was mostly surprised with the special effects utilized during itsâ time of release. I would recommend this film if you were a Steven Spielberg fan and keep in mind that films of the past are what brought films of the future or current time. Â

The Mass UFO sighting in Ancient Egypt
The fascination with unidentified flying objects (UFOs) is not a modern phenomenon. Throughout history, there have been numerous accounts of mysterious objects in the sky, many of which predate the invention of flight by millennia.
The Tulli Papyrus document has intrigued historians and UFO enthusiasts for years. It is believed to be an account of a massive UFO encounter that took place during the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose III in ancient Egypt. The papyrus was named after Alberto Tulli, director of the Vatican Museum's Egyptian section, who reportedly came across the document in a Cairo antique shop in 1933. Although the original document was too expensive for Tulli to purchase, he made a copy, which was later transcribed from the original hieratic script into hieroglyphs. Some have questioned the document's authenticity due to the transcription process, which introduced opportunities for error and embellishment. Despite concerns regarding its authenticity, the Tulli Papyrus has been cited as one of the earliest known records of what could be described as a fleet of flying saucers. The text describes a celestial event witnessed by Pharaoh Thutmose III, where "circles of fire" filled the sky. Although the papyrus is incomplete, it has been translated. It suggests that this event left the royal scribes and witnesses in awe.
The alleged UFO encounter described in the Tulli Papyrus would have occurred during the reign of Thutmose III, a significant period in ancient Egypt's history. Thutmose III ruled Egypt during the 18th dynasty from approximately 1479 to 1425 BC, a time often referred to as Egypt's imperial age. This era was marked by military conquests and the empire's expansion, as well as great wealth, artistic achievement, and architectural innovation. The construction of numerous temples and monuments, many of which still stand today, was a testament to the prosperity and cultural richness of the time. The ancient Egyptians, with their emphasis on celestial events and their belief in the gods' communication through the stars and planets, meticulously recorded astronomical occurrences. These records were often interpreted as omens or messages from the divine.
The Tulli Papyrus is the center of debates about extraterrestrial encounters and ancient Egypt. The papyrus describes "circles of fire" that appeared in the sky during the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose III. This account could be evidence of a genuine UFO sighting. In contrast, others argue that it is merely a work of fiction. Those who support the idea that the Tulli Papyrus is an accurate account of an ancient encounter with the unknown point out that the ancient Egyptians were knowledgeable astronomers. They sophisticatedly understood the heavens and often precisely documented celestial events. Therefore, it is unlikely that they would mistake a common astronomical phenomenon for something as extraordinary as the event described in the papyrus.
Furthermore, the emotional response of the witnesses, as recorded in the papyrus, adds a human element to the UFO sighting. The witnesses, including the royal scribes, were reportedly in awe and fear, a reaction that could be consistent with encountering something beyond their understanding or experience. This emotional response could indicate the event's authenticity. Moreover, the level of detail provided in the Tulli Papyrus is unusual for typical mythological storytelling. The description of multiple objects, their motion, and their effect on the observers could suggest that the scribe was attempting to record an actual event as accurately as possible. However, skeptics point out that the Tulli Papyrus is not an original document but a transcription, which means there is potential for errors or embellishments to have been introduced.
The Tulli Papyrus remains an enduring enigma, whether it describes a genuine UFO sighting or is simply a product of myth and legend. It continues to capture the imagination and invites us to ponder the mysteries of the past. The document challenges us to keep an open mind about the possibilities of human experience and the vast, uncharted territories of our ancient heritage. The truth may be lost to the sands of time. Still, the story endures, a testament to humanity's eternal quest to understand the universe and our place within it.
Let us delve into a fascinating journey exploring notable UFO sightings from antiquity.
The Phantasmal Ships of Rome
In 218 BC, the Roman historian Livy recorded prodigies in the winter sky during the buildup to the Second Punic War, including "phantom ships that had been seen gleaming in the sky." This description aligns eerily with modern reports of UFOs, suggesting that even in ancient times, people witnessed phenomena that defied explanation.
The Spark of Pliny
Pliny the Elder, a Roman author and naturalist, described an event in 76 BC in which a spark fell from a star and grew as it descended, eventually appearing as large as the Moon before ascending back into the heavens. This account bears a striking resemblance to modern descriptions of UFOs changing size and shape.
The Wine-Jar Flames of Phrygia
In 73 BC, the Roman army, commanded by Lucullus, was about to engage Mithridates VI of Pontus when "the sky burst asunder, and a huge, flame-like body was seen to fall between the two armies," described by Plutarch as being shaped like a wine jar. Such an event would undoubtedly be classified as a UFO sighting today.
The Celestial Chariots of Judea
Flavius Josephus, a Romano-Jewish historian, reported seeing chariots "hurtling through the clouds" in the skies of Judea around AD 65, before the First JewishâRoman War. These celestial chariots could be interpreted as ancient depictions of alien spacecraft.
The Silver Rain of Rome
In AD 196, the historian Cassius Dio recounted a "fine rain resembling silver" that descended from a clear sky upon the Forum of Augustus in Rome. He claimed this substance temporarily plated bronze coins, only to vanish days later. This phenomenon, called "angel hair," is often associated with modern UFO sightings.
The Airships of Clonmacnoise
In the annals of Irish history, entries from around AD 740 describe "ships with their crews were seen in the air" over Ireland. These accounts from the Ulster, Tigernach, Clonmacnoise, and the Four Masters annals suggest aerial phenomena that defy conventional explanation.
While varied in detail and geography, these ancient accounts share common themes with modern UFO sightings. They describe unexplainable objects and events in the sky, invoking wonder and fear in those who witnessed them. Whether these were early encounters with extraterrestrial visitors, natural phenomena misinterpretations, or myths and legends, they contribute to the rich tapestry of human history and our quest to understand the unknown.
As we continue to gaze upward, the stories of ancient skies remind us that the mystery of UFOs is not a new curiosity but a timeless intrigue that spans the history of civilization. What were our ancestors witnessing? Were they visitors from distant worlds or something else entirely? The answers may be lost to time, but the legacy of these sightings endures, fueling our imagination and our desire to explore the cosmos.

AREA 51
For the first post on this blog, I am going to talk about one of the most well known conspiracy theories in the United States â Area 51. Many people believe that Area 51, a highly classified United States Air Force facility located in Nevada, is an alien testing site where they research and experiment on aliens and their spacecraft. This base is known as the most secret military site in the world as it does not exist on any maps. The secrecy has led to many conspiracy theories about this military base. The government has stated that the facility is used to test experimental aircraft for the military, but many do not believe that statement. Some believe that Area 51 has been studying a crash that happened near Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 and others believe that the moon landing was even staged at Area 51!
How did Area 51 become the center of alien conspiracy theories? Letâs talk about some brief history of this base. In the early 1950âs, US planes were testing low flying aircrafts over the USSR. However, they were scared of being spotted. President Eisenhower in 1954 authorized the development of a top secret airplane produced under the name Operation AQUATONE. They needed a remote location and Area 51 was born. However, in 1955 reports of âunidentified flying objectsâ or UFOs were reported. What people were actually seeing were U-2 aircrafts. The Air Force had begun testing its U-2, which could fly way higher than current aircrafts at the time. It is easy to understand why so many people thought these crafts were from âout of this world.â People had not seen aircrafts be able to fly at extremely high altitudes or flying at such high speeds. The Air Force could not really tell the public what they were seeing as the U-2 aircrafts were extremely top secret, they explained to the public these crafts were actually âhigh-altitude weather research.â The testing of the U-2 aircrafts ended in the late 1950âs; but Area 51 has continued to be a testing ground for many other aircrafts.Â
The vagueness and secretive nature of the military base has caused many conspiracy theories to be born. It wasnât until 2013, almost 60 years since the creation of this base, that the government finally acknowledged the existence of Area 51 in a formally classified CIA document. There was a heavily redacted version of the document released in 1998.
To this day, Area 51 remains a top-secret testing site. The government and military do not want the public remotely near it. The closest you can get to this base is 15 miles. The military base is under 24 hour surveillance. Very few people have had a close encounter with the secret base, when interviewed about their experience one said that they felt as if someone was always watching when they approached the gates to the base. One even said itâs kind of eerie. And another said they âfeared for their lifeâ when greeted by military officers after he had gotten to the gate. In 2019, a meme surfaced to âStorm Area 51 - they canât stop us allâ which was created by California Native Matty Roberts. He had created a fake invite on Facebook to raid Area 51, more than 2 million people RSVPâd. The FBI showed up at Robertâs house to investigate. Roberts later said he posted the event as a joke. However, on the day of the event more than 150 people showed up from all over outside the entrances of Area 51, with none succeeding to enter the base.
What do you think about Area 51? Do you believe that the government is telling the truth about it only being for testing of aircrafts or do you believe they are actually testing extraterrestrial life and their spacecrafts?

can u tell me about any recent ufo sightings ?
unfortunately I have not personally seen any since my first (well there was one I saw over germany from a plane but it could have potentially been a mylar balloon whereas my first encounter was undeniable Strangeness) but as far as interesting recent cases in ufo news, none have really jumped out bc while there are always many videos floating around, I try to look for a few key markers before I get excited-multiple eyewitness accounts or multiple videos of the same event from diff sources, or videos that are coming from an extremely reliable source to take away the otherwise high possibility of it being a hoax (vids taken by pilots from the cockpits of commercial or military planes for example), esp once again if they also have multiple ppl witnessing it & we can hear them reacting in real time (bonus points for radar data too). those are the ones that I think are virtually guaranteed to be real.
I enjoy the other videos but I always have to remember how easy it is to fake this stuff w/a decent knowledge of video editing. ppl call me a crazy conspiracy theorist but I approach things pretty rationally I think. anyways, I do remember reading that 12 ppl at red rocks amphitheater saw the same ufo some days ago so that's pretty cool, too many witnesses to be fabricated. but there's no video to go along with it so my enthusiasm is limited.

At a historic NASA briefing on UFOs â âunidentified anomalous phenomenaâ (UAP) in government parlance â a key Defense Department official made a striking disclosure. Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, director of a new UAP analysis office, stated that U.S. military personnel are observing âmetallic orbsâ âall over the world.
An image, along with two brief videos of such objects are now publicly available.Â
According to Kirkpatrick, spherical objects account for the largest proportion â nearly half â of all UAP reports received by his office. Critically, some of these objects are capable of âvery interesting apparent maneuvers.âÂ
To be sure, rigorous scientific analysis may ultimately identify a prosaic explanation for such observations. In the meantime, however, such âmetallic orbsâ are prima facie evidence of extraordinary technology. After all, how would spheres, lacking wings or apparent forms of propulsion, execute âmaneuversâ of any kind?Â
In his presentation, Kirkpatrick also described the UAP characteristics most frequently received by his office. This range of attributes, in short, amounts to a UAP profile that Kirkpatrickâs staff is âout hunting for.â
Intriguingly, this profile includes small (3 to 13 feet in diameter) âsphericalâ objects capable of flight at a range of velocities, from âstationaryâ to twice the speed of sound, despite a perplexing absence of âthermal exhaustâ such as heat from an engine. Of particular note, as Kirkpatrick made clear, some of these highly anomalous characteristics are observed via multiple sensors.Â
Former U.S. Navy fighter pilot Lt. Ryan Graves has described daily encounters with unidentified objects exhibiting characteristics strikingly similar to those described by Kirkpatrick. While training off the U.S. east coast in 2014-15, Graves and at least 50-60 fellow naval aviators observed unknown objects, frequently via multiple sensors, that remained stationary over the ground even in hurricane-force winds, or traveled at speeds faster than sound.
Although the aircrew rarely observed the objects visually, a harrowing near-midair collision marked the first time a naval aviator in Gravesâs squadron had observed one of the objects at close range. According to the pilot, the object appeared as a dark-colored cube inside of a clear sphere. As if to confirm, Kirkpatrick noted at the NASA event that âtranslucentâ spheres are among the most commonly reported UAP characteristics.Â
Contemporaneous U.S. Navy âhazard reportsâ memorialize the exasperation of naval aviators and their commanders following the April 2014 near-collision. According to one such document, Gravesâs squadron considered the spheres, which flew with impunity in tightly-controlled training airspace, a âcritical riskâ and âa severe threat to Naval Aviation.â A few days earlier, a separate hazard report described an unknown object, observed via both radar and infrared sensors, hovering motionless at â0.0 Mach,â much like the âstationaryâ spherical objects frequently reported to Kirkpatrickâs office.Â
Similarly, a hazard report from the previous day describes two objects â both confirmed via radar and infrared sensors â hovering in place. However, in this incident, two other UAP fly past the stationary objects âat a high speed.â Gravesâs exasperated squadron commander punctuates the report by stating that âit is only a matter of time before this results in a midairâ collision.
Less than a month earlier, a hazard report filed in the same area by a different squadron describes an aircrew encountering âa small metallic objectâ âapproximately the size of a suitcase,â matching, once again, the commonly-reported characteristics described by Kirkpatrick.
The squadron commander, similarly incensed by the dire flight safety risk posed by the frequent UAP encounters, wrote that âit may only be a matter of time before one of our F/A-18 aircraft has a mid-air collision.âÂ
While he had less flexibility to investigate after he deployed, Graves recalls observing similar anomalous radar contacts as his squadron moved to the Mediterranean Sea and the Persian Gulf. This is consistent with Kirkpatrickâs statement that such UAP are observed âall over the world.âÂ
A few years later, a test pilot flying in a nearby evaluation range told Graves of an encounter with one of the commonly reported objects. According to Graves, a spherical UAP was âjust riding along with him,â about 30 feet from the aircraft, before it âzipped off.â A declassified report matching the general details of the incident describes a test pilotâs encounter with a âsphere.â
More recently, one of Gravesâs former student pilots, along with a senior officer, observed one of the spheres. As Gravesâs former student told him, â[The object] looked exactly like what you said, [a] cube in a sphere. Theyâre still here.âÂ
Importantly, the spheres are associated with one of the best-known UAP encounters.
The 2015 âGimbalâ video is arguably the most recognizable publicly available UAP footage. Recorded at the end of a complex pre-deployment training mission, Graves recalls that the âGimbalâ UAP flew in a loose formation with a âfleetâ of four to six objects which, based on their perplexing radar signatures, resembled the objects observed daily by aviators off the East Coast.Â
During the post-mission debrief, a thorough review of the sensor data from the âGimbalâ incident âleft a crowd of fascinated intelligence officers and aircrewâ perplexed enough to summon the highest ranking officer aboard the aircraft carrier. The admiral, exasperated by the frequent UAP incursions into the carrierâs airspace, and the âGimbalâ incident in particular, reported the incident to the Office of Naval Intelligence.Â
Moreover, during the recent briefing by NASAâs Independent Study Team, a panel member mathematically analyzed the âGoFastâ UAP video. Such open, transparent academic engagement with noteworthy UAP incidents is a much-welcome development.
Importantly, by virtue of its connection to the âGimbalâ incident, the âGoFastâ video has a plausible link to the anomalous spherical UAP observed frequently by naval aviators.Â
âGoFastâ was recorded hundreds of miles offshore, just 10 minutes prior to the âGimbalâ incident, and by the same aircrew. While the NASA study team member who analyzed the video employed basic trigonometry to conclude that the cold, sphere-like âGoFastâ object was traveling relatively slowly (about 40 miles per hour), citizen scientists â UFO skeptics and âagnosticsâ alike â have created three-dimensional models that recreate the effect of the strong winds that evening.
