Publisher FuRyu and developer Historia have fully launched the official website for The Caligula Effect 2, detailing the game’s idols, main characters, Obbligato Musicians, and systems.
Get the details below.
[Very long post below the cut]
■ Story
Redo, the World Without Regrets
The mysterious virtuadoll Regret. Those who hear her songs are one by one taken into another world. “Redo” is a virtual world created by Regret and manufactured by the mistakes of peoples’ past.
“If only I had done that at the time…”
Redo is a world that realizes the desire held by all to start over. A world where you can make the decisions you chose against in the past, Redo is a lukewarm world without regrets, where you can live out the “what ifs?” of life.
Another Diva and the Go-Home Club
χ is another virtuadoll who is attempting to destroy the fabricated world of Redo. She chooses the protagonist, who realizes that this world is not reality, as a partner and lends them her power. The Go-Home Club is formed by students who learn of reality’s existence after a certain event and aim to return to the real world. And thus begins the extremely difficult return home against the creator of the virtual world.
True Appearances of the Go-Home Club Members
However, the Go-Home Club members’ appearances in Redo are nothing more than a “what if?” that disregards reality and rewrites their past regrets. The true appearance they hide is a taboo that only the player can discover. Embark upon this journey at your own risk and make choices free from regret.
■ Virtuadoll
Regret (voiced by Arisa Kori)
A mysterious virtuadoll that suddenly appeared to the world. Her origin and details are unknown, but her mysteriousness proved effective as rose to fame and gained overwhelming popularity on video streaming websites with her mystical singing voice. With the power of that popularity, she created Redo, an ideal world without regrets, and has imprisoned those suffering in the real world in her virtual world.
χ (voiced by Mayu Mineda)
Another virtuadoll, who opposes Regret and is trying to destroy the fabricated world of Redo. Feeling she is unable to fight Regret with her power alone, she chooses the protagonst who awakened to reality as her partner and lends them her strength. It seems she cannot fully understand human values as she is a prototype virtuadoll that never officially launched in reality.
■ Go-Home Club Members
Protagonist (voiced by Tatsumaru Tachibana / You Taichi)
A second-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school. Leader of the second generation Go-Home Club that aims to escape from the ideal world of Redo. The protagonist was chosen as a partner by the virtuadoll χ, who plans to destroy Redo, and gives her half of their body.
Gin Noto (voiced by Aoi Ichikawa)
A second-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school and the protagonist’s classmate. A modern high school student who wears the latest fashions, and is driven by excitement and emotion. He is also manly and a good friend. With a personality that allows him to read the room and be considerate, he has a number of friends both guys and girls.
Shota Tsurumaki (voiced by Kento Itou)
A third-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school. A straight-laced and stubborn member of the discipline committee who values order above all else. He is just and upright, and has a strong sense of responsibility, but can also be unreliable and blindly follows others, such as by immediately proposing a majority vote to avoid making a final decision himself.
Ryuto Tsukishima (voiced by Kouki Uchiyama)
A third-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school. He has wisdom and knowledge beyond his years, so much so that the other students make call him a boy genius. Since he is even-keeled and does things at his own pace, he tends to come off as cold at first glance, but is really not a bad person. He often clashes with others for saying things without sugarcoating, but they are often statements said considering the interests of the group.
Kobato Kazamatsuri (voiced by Yuuto Uemura)
A third-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school. As his appearance suggests, he is a frivolous young man and school celebrity. He has an unshakable personality and will shamelessly say he does what he does for the sake of popularity, which earned him both consistent support from the guys and vigilance from the girls. He is proactive and inquisitive when it comes to his amusement, and refuses to do anything unpleasant. He is not very cooperative with the group.
Kiriko Miyasako (voiced by Yume Miyamoto)
A first-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school. Her short blonde hair is her trademark. At first glance, people tend to fear her for her flashy appearance, class absences, and dry personality that does not pander to others, but she is the one with the most common sense in the Go-Home Club. She is highly capable and good for her improvisation, quick wit, and extraordinary courage, but dislikes being relied on and does not put herself out there as much as possible.
Sasara Amiki (voiced by Sumire Morohoshi)
A third-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school. A beauty with a gentle personality who always has a grin on her face. She is treated as an airhead whose speech and conduct are often a beat behind those of everyone else. It is difficult to understand what she is thinking, but she has a strong love for the members of the Go-Home Club and shows exceptional dedication when it comes to putting herself at risk to protect her friends.
Niko Komamura (voiced by Hiyori Kono)
A first-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school. A bright and simple-minded girl. The optimistic type with a glow in her eyes who will interact with anyone and everyone with the goal of having more and more friends. Despite her proactiveness, she is not very skillful or good at contemplating or theorizing difficult things, and often goes in circles.
Marie Amabuki (voiced by Mai Fuchigami)
A second-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school and the protagonist’s classmate. A kind-hearted and helpful beauty with good grades and a no-nonsense demeanor. She is a model honor student, relied upon by the other students to the point that she was selected to become the Tatefushi Academy Student Council President in her second year. She cares for the protagonist however possible.
■ Obbligato Musicians
Machina (voiced by Shun’ichi Toki)
Composer: ???
An Obbligato Musician. An android who wished for a machine body from Regret. He is extremely loyal to Regret, and treats her orders as absolute. He never fails to patrol Redo to maintain public order.
Pandora (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa)
Composer: ???
An Obbligato Musician. A cool, calm, and collected woman who speaks very little. She is an artisinal musician who loves to spend her time surrounded by flowers, working silently to make music in the depths of her favorite garden. Her work room in the garden depths is an insular space sealed off from the outside world.
MU-kun (voiced by Taku Yashiro)
Composer: ???
An Obbligato Musician. A boy with an eccentric appearance and flashy hair. With his sense for music and fashion, and unconventional and exorbiant conduct that make up his “space communication” character setting, he steals the hearts of young as the most popular musician.
#QP (voiced by Inori Minase)
Composer: ???
An Obbligato Musician, second-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school, and the protagonist’s classmate. The fact that she is a Obbligato musician is a secret and she attends school everyday. She is a beauty that has a tendency to seek romance, and there is almost never a time that she does not have a man by her side. The reason she hides the fact that she is a musician is because she thinks the elaborate title is unattractive.
Doctor (voiced by Kazuki Kato)
Composer: ???
An Obbligato Musician. He works as a doctor at the hospital on the outskirts of Okitama City, and is always pushing Kranke around in his wheelchair. He has a cool and blunt personality, but is devoted entirely to his contributions to Redo and actively works on musical activities. Other than Kranke, he prefers not to interact with the other musicians.
Kranke (voiced by Yuuki Takada)
Composer: ???
An Obbligato Musician, and a third-year student at Tatefushi Academy senior high school. He is unable to walk due to a leg injury, and is pushed around in a wheelchair by Doctor. His thoughts are hard to grasp since he tends to act like his mind is not present, and he always has a faint smile on his face. Many are drawn to his music and the world it weaves, which is dark beyond his fragile impression.
Kudan (voiced by Mariya Ise)
Composer: ???
An Obbligato Musician. A promotion and agitation specialist. She lies like she breathes and toys with the hearts of others. She is in charge of persuasive propaganda and public relations on behalf of Regret, who does not talk much. She often quotes wise figures from history, manga, and anime.
Bluffman (voiced by Takehito Koyasu)
Composer: ???
The leader of the Obbligato Musicians. A man of many mysteries who hides his face behind a mask. He is always at Regret’s side and plays a managerial role, acting as the ringleader who assembles the musicians in her place. He is said to be such a senior composer that even the new generation Obbligato Musicians acknowledge his superiority. His principle of conduct is to make Regret an absolute being, and he always maintains that Regret is superior to the virtuadolls of the past.
■ System
Character Scenario
The Go-Home Club members’ appearance in “Redo” is no more than an alternate version of themselves written over their past regrets. The reality each Go-Home Home Club member faces is full of trauma and pain. However, it is up to the player to discover why these individuals still wish to go back to them. Embark upon this journey at your own risk and make choices free from regret.
Battle System: Imaginary Chain
A battle system in which you predict the future and chain combos. The basic in-game battle system is turn-based, but once the player selects an action, the outcome of that action is revealed. Collaborate with your friends to strategize and overcome disadvantageous situations.

HOUSTON, TX — May 20, 2021 — Sentai announced today that it acquired exclusive home video distribution rights to critically acclaimed Vinland Saga, WIT STUDIO’s Viking-inspired anime epic based on the award-winning manga of the same name. Originally a streaming-only release, Sentai is now readying Vinland Saga for home video and targeting a Summer 2021 release. Sentai is planning both collector and standard editions for this highly anticipated series.
Raised on tales of the legendary land of Vinland, where warmth and plenty abound, young Thorfinn dreams of leaving behind the cold climate of Iceland and venturing into the great unknown. But when Viking sails appear on the horizon, the young boy is conscripted into a life of violence and brutality at the hands of merciless Viking Askalaad. With nothing left to him save revenge, Thorfinn swears vengeance against the man who slew his family, plunging headlong into a sprawling, blood-soaked, coming-of-age epic that marches to the drums of war.

The series was awarded Anime of the Year at the 6th Anime Trending Awards, with Gerald Rathkolb of Otaku USA stating, “[Vinland Saga] is one of those rare anime that could have appeal outside of the anime sphere because of its setting and focus on complex characters and the excellent political intrigue ever-present in the show. It comes with my highest recommendation.”

Wrestle Kingdom 14 preview (part 1)
For 29 years, New Japan Pro Wrestling has run an annual Tokyo Dome show on January 4, right after Japan’s multi-day New Year celebrations. This is the 14th such show called “Wrestle Kingdom,” and the first to expand to a two-day event. Aside from WWE’s stadium shows, this is the biggest pro wrestling event of the year, so if you’re looking to get into NJPW, this is a good place to start.
Kazuchika Okada vs. Kota Ibushi - Ibushi won the 2019 G1 Climax tournament for the right to challenge Okada for the IWGP heavyweight championship, the top title in New Japan. This is being billed as part of a “Double Gold Dash” along with Jay White vs. Tetsuya Naito, so the champions coming out of those two matches will meet on the January 5 show with both titles at stake. The two guys who leave this show empty handed will wrestle in a consolation match on the undercard of the January 5 show.
Okada, a five-time champion, has held the title for 1,789 of the last 2,883 days. In the past seven years, all the other titleholders put together have not held the belt as long as he has. He’s The Man, handpicked to lead the company into the 2010s and beyond, and at just 32 years of age he’s not going anywhere anytime soon. The storyline for Okada is pretty basic--he’s almost always on top, acting kinda cocky about it, and dismissing the competition until they give him a reason to take them seriously. He’s the one guy in this Double Gold Dash who doesn’t care about being a double champion, and he resents the suggestion that his one championship is somehow inadequate.
Ibushi is something of an oddball journeyman, whose phenomenal talent has at times been at odds with his unorthodox approach to business. He might have been champion many times over by now, but he preferred to be a free agent rather than commit to any one company, making it politically difficult to push him. Then, just as it seemed he might jump to All Elite Wrestling with his soulmate Kenny Omega, he locked in with a long-term NJPW contract. (If you’ve been watching AEW and wondering why Omega seems depressed and out-of-sorts, it’s because he had to leave this guy behind.) At 37 he’s finally getting the tippy-toppy guy push he always deserved...and yet the story is that he’d kinda sorta rather have the intercontinental title, for sentimental reasons.
Expectations for this match are running high, because each man has delivered some of the best matches in the world. Okada’s whole thing is to get in his opponent’s head by teasing him and taking him lightly until things get harder and he has to turn it up. Ibushi’s whole thing is fighting like an anime guy--he’s all honorable at first with quick flashy moves, and then when he’s beaten down he hulks up and goes sickhouse on your ass. Basically Ibushi is the wrong damn guy for Okada’s “you’re a good little hand, kid, but you can’t beat me” shtick, because Ibushi will kick his head off. But Okada is the wrong damn guy for Ibushi’s “now I’m in ultimate turbo super collosal mode” shit, because Okada can weather the storm and keep going. Whoever wins this one is going to have to damn near kill the other guy.
It’s tough to pick a winner knowing anything could happen 24 hours later. But it feels like this is Ibushi’s time, and it’s taken a long time to get there, so he should win the big one. But history has taught me to never doubt Okada’s ability to crush his challengers’ hopes and dreams and convince me that it’s best for business. If anyone can roll over Ibushi’s push, it’s Okada. But if anybody can defy conventions, it’s Ibushi. This one’s too close to call.
Jay White vs. Tetsuya Naito - White pinned Naito in the G1 Climax, and then won the IWGP intercontinental title from Naito in September, so this is the rematch. This is also the other half of the “Double Gold Dash” along with Okada vs. Ibushi, so the champion after this match goes on to the double title match on January 5, and the other guy ends up in the consolation match.
The whole idea of everybody wanting to be double champion kicked off a year ago with Naito. He’d always resented the intercontinental belt, dragging it on the ground and such, but after winning it at Wrestle Kingdom 13 he seemed to come to terms with it always coming back to him, and set his sights on being the first man to hold it and the heavyweight belt at the same time. Of course, then he lost his belt to Ibushi, and had to get it back, and before you knew it Ibushi was deciding he liked the idea of being a double champion as well. As talk of a double title match at the Tokyo Dome started heating up, White realized his best shot of regaining the heavyweight title was to take the intercontinental belt from Naito to ensure he’d be in the conversation. But Naito, undeterred, insisted on getting a rematch with Naito, which secured his spot in this little tournament.
It’s still incredible to me that White used to be the scrawny looking young boy in the opening matches 3½ years ago. He’s not quite at the level of the other tippy-toppy guys, but for my money he’s one of the best in the company. Part of the reason I haven’t missed Kenny Omega in NJPW all that much is because White has taken the top gaijin role, run with it, and made it his own. He’s so hated that, if he wins the main event on 1/5, there is a very real chance that tens of thousands of people will just rush to the exits instead of watching the end of the show. He’s great.
The big knock on Naito is that he’s pretty banged up and can’t go like he used to. In WWE they’d probably take him off the road, or reduce his schedule to a handful of matches each year until he could recover. In New Japan, he seems to be on every tour, phoning it in until it’s time to pull out all the stops in a big money match. Now he’s looking at two big money matches in a row. If you ask me now is not the time to book Naito over two top stars and position him to defend two top belts like he’s Superman. Then again, if you ask me, I’m not certain anyone at NJPW sees it that way.
I’m not expecting this match to be all that great. Naito has elevated “stall to fuck with your opponent” to a whole new artform. White, meanwhile, has perfected a strategy where he goes limp and lies on his back so opponents can’t execute their big moves (because pro wrestlers don’t know how to just stomp a guy or grab a hold, apparently). When these two fight, it’s very much Larry Zbyszko’s “human game of chess,” and to be honest I never liked Zbyszko very much.
The outcome here really depends on what New Japan sees as the best opponent for the winner of Okada-Ibushi to headline the 1/5 show. Of the possible combinations, Okada-Naito is the freshest match (last seen in January 2018), followed by Okada-White (April 2019), Ibushi-Naito (June 2019) and Ibushi-White (August 2019). That sort of leads me to think Naito is the preferred winner here, in addition to the fact he’s the bigger star and the bigger draw. The question, though, is whether his body can hold up to the demands of that star power.
Will Ospreay vs. Hiromu Takahashi - Ospreay is defending the IWGP junior heavyweight championship. Takahashi is returning from a neck injury that has sidelined him since July 7, 2018.
I was in the Cow Palace when Takahashi seemed to glide across the mat as if his face was an ice skate. I still remember the noise the crowd made when we saw the replay. I was relieved when Hiromu got back up and won the match to retain the junior title, because I assumed that meant everything would be all right. By the time I learned he’d been immediately rushed to the hospital after the match, I was sightseeing in San Francisco the next day. I followed his status updates closely, until they stopped coming. Then I commiserated with New Japan Tumblr about the frustration of expecting him to return at every single big show. So yeah, I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.
Here’s the thing. Both of these men do big crazy moves that elevate the art of lightweight pro wrestling. They aim to please the crowd with high-risk spots, and accept the enormous risks of overdoing those spots. I appreciate Will and Hiromu for their styles. But I consider them two of my favorites because of their characters, the stuff that they could coast instead of killing themselves for style. Ospreay didn’t elevate his game by flipping around with Ricochet, but by delivering a passionate promo about battling depression and vowing to “slay the dragon” by overcoming the (then) undefeated Shingo Takagi. Hiromu didn’t elevate his game by feuding with Dragon Lee, but by purchasing a stuffed cat and making us treat it like a real cat.
So as far as I’m concerned, the big angle for this match is that Ospreay has introduced his own stuffed animal mascot (Percy the Pig) to counteract Hiromu’s cats. If they met in the center of the ring at the Tokyo Dome and made their dolls fight each other, I would declare it the match of the year. I don’t need these guys to destroy themselves for me. I accept that they will try to do that anyway. But I’m into this match on a whole other level, and I hope they don’t lose sight of that.
I personally think Hiromu needs to regain the junior title (even if only for a few weeks) to close the book on his return from injury. The only good reason not to do that here is if they think he still needs to shake off some ring rust. But by all accounts, he’s been cleared to wrestle for months, so if the time for the title win isn’t now, I’ll be incredibly shocked.
Lance Archer vs. Jon Moxley - This is for Archer’s IWGP United States championship. The match is being billed as a “Texas death match,” although the rules for such a contest seem to change literally every time someone books one. In this case, the match can only end when one participant submits or fails to answer the referee’s count of ten. Regardless of the outcome, whoever is US champion will defend against Juice Robinson on the January 5 show.
Moxley won the title from Robinson in June, but Juice pinned him in a non-title match in August. That set up a rubber match in October 14, but Typhoon Hagiibis prevened Mox from making the show, so he was stripped of the title. Archer defeated Juice in a match for the vacant title, and now Moxley is back to reclaim what he never lost in the ring. For his part, Archer is fixated on validating his title run by defeating the ex-champion he’s never faced.
Archer was always terrifying in his run with Davey Boy Smith, Jr., as the Killer Elite Squad, but after Smith left he really started to show me something as a singles guy. He was an unexpected highlight in the G1 Climax as a big bully that frightens small children, and I’m actually ashamed that I didn’t consider the potential of a feud with Moxley until he back-doored his way into the US title picture. I like seeing Moxley with an IWGP championship, but I have to admit Archer is a stronger choice for a US champion, considering that he’s not contractually prohibited from defending the title in North America.
My gut says the Robinson match on January 5 doesn’t make a lot of sense unless the goal is to rapidly reset things back to October 14 and deliver the Moxley vs. Robinson title match. I don’t see why they’d do it that way unless they’re determined to move the title back to Juice and have Moxley give him the rub. While there are certainly other possibilities (Archer retains in both matches, Moxley wins both matches, Archer beats Mox but loses to Juice), none of them make quite as much sense to me. Since I happen to like all three guys, I guess I can’t be disappointed in any event. But as far as this match goes, I think Moxley will regain the US belt.
Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa vs. Juice Robinson & David Finlay - Robinson and Finlay won the World Tag League tournament for the right to challenge the Guerillas of Destiny for the IWGP heavyweight tag team championship. If Juice wins this match, and goes on to win his US title match tomorrow, he will effectively have two IWGP championships at the same time before any of the Double Gold Dash guys, so that’s kinda funny.
Finlay was sidelined with a shoulder injury very early in 2019, and in the meantime Robinson ended up feuding with Moxley over the US title. Finlay returned just in time to get involved in the subsequent Juice vs. Lance Archer mini-feud, but Archer made short work of him too. So their run in World Tag League seemed to be a reset for both guys, giving them a new direction to prosper in while Archer moved on with the US belt. At least, that’s what I figured before Juice was booked in that US title match on 1/5. Now I don’t know if they’re planning to push him as a singles act or a tag team guy. Can they do both? I guess we’ll see.
The story here for the Guerillas of Destiny is that they dominate the tag division but never actually win at Wrestle Kingdom. (Tama’s last Tokyo Dome win was years ago, as a curtain jerker, long before Tanga showed up.) It’s not much of a story, though, so it’s hard for me to imagine they’re going to finally get that big win here. Juice has been beating himself up a lot for his losses in the past few months, so I’m pulling for him to have something to celebrate tonight.
KENTA & Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens & Yujiro Takahashi vs. Hirooki Goto & Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI & Toru Yano - Now that Wrestle Kingdom has expanded to two days, there’s more room for filler tag team matches to pad the show. This one is a preview of the Kenta vs. Goto match on January 5. Kenta was teaming with Ishii and Yoshi when he betrayed them to join Bullet Club, and the two of them have really failed to get any shred of revenge, so this may be their last big chance. But in the end I expect the Bullet Club team to win to put heat on Kenta going into tomorrow’s title match.
Zack Sabre, Jr. & Taichi & Minoru Suzuki & El Desperado vs. SANADA & EVIL & Shingo Takagi & BUSHI - This match previews the Sabre vs. Sanada match on January 5. Sanada suffered some sort of injury a couple of weeks ago where he had to be pulled from the card, so there was concern he might not be cleared for this weekend. But as of this writing, this match is still scheduled. As a fallback, New Japan booked Bushi to score a big upset on Sabre in December, so that gives Sabre two guys to target here.
I’m curious about the 2020 directions for several guys in this match, most notably Suzuki, Evil, and Shingo. In theory this match could preview possible storylines for them, but that tends to be something they save for New Year Dash, so I won’t hold my breath. The Sabre/Taichi team seems to be getting some momentum, so that may also be a thing to watch heading into the new year, especially if Sabre drops his British title to focus on a tag team run. As far as this match goes, though, I think it could go either way.
Jushin Thunder Liger & Tiger Mask & Tatsumi Fujinami & The Great Sasuke vs. Naoki Sano & Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Shinjiro Otani & Ryusuke Taguchi - Liger’s team will be cornered by El Samurai and Sano’s team will be cornered by Kuniaki Kobayashi. Norio Honaga will be the special referee. This is the first of two retirement matches for Liger, who will end his in-ring career on January 5 and then have a ceremony on January 6.
Liger (55) has hand-selected the participants in this match. Tiger Mask (49) has been his long-time tag team partner. Fujinami (65) was his idol, who inspired him to become a pro wrestler. Sasuke (50) and Liger collaborated to create the Super J Cup and J Crown tournaments. Kobayashi (63) was Liger’s first opponent in the Jushin Liger gimmick in 1989. Sano (54) was Liger’s first big rival back in 1990. Liger feuded with Takaiwa (47), Otani (47), Samurai (53), and Honaga (64) over the years. Taguchi (40) seems to mainly be there to help carry the match and represent the current New Japan junior division.
In theory, a guy that’s retiring should lose on his way out. Then again, in theory a guy that’s retiring doesn’t have two retirement matches in the Tokyo Dome. Liger obviously has to go down hard on 1/5, but he could score the win here to give us one last big celebration with his cool theme music and stuff. It is frankly not that important to give the rub to Taguchi or his team. So, unexpectedly, we’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out.
Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi - This is one of three opening matches that will be in the pre-show. All four guys are on the active roster but they’re all past their prime and mainly work with the young boys in the undercard. If you’ve watched New Japan for any time at all you’ve probably seen these four a dozen times. It’s not going to blow the roof off the dome, but it’ll be a nice nostalgia pop to see them working in the Tokyo Dome one more time. It kinda doesn’t matter who wins.
Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma & Yuya Uemura & Yota Tsuji vs. Toa Henare & Karl Fredericks & Clark Connors & Alex Coughlin - Another pre-show match, which should be the first one actually broadcast for streaming services and Japanese television. Makabe and Honma are longtime partners who are all that’s left of the defunct faction GBH. Uemura and Tsuji are young boys training in New Japan’s dojo system. Henare graduated from that system a while back, but he’s still little more than a curtain jerker waiting for his first real push. Fredericks, Connors, and Coughlin are trainees at New Japan’s new Los Angeles dojo, as part of their big “New Japan of America” initiative. On paper, there’s no way Makabe and Honma lose to a bunch of rookies, let alone gaijin rookies. But they’ve been pushing the LA Dojo students as being a hair better than the local young boys, so I think an upset is at least possible.
Arisa Hoshiki & Mayu Iwatani vs. Giulia & Hana Kimura - This is a special exhibition match featuring women from the World Wonder Ring Stardom promotion. Although NJPW and Stardom are owned by the same parent company, their broadcasting rights are with different outlets, so this probably won’t be aired on the live stream, and I’m not certain when or where it will be made available to view. That’s a shame since I know almost nothing about Stardom, and this could have been a good opportunity to dip my toe in that. I’ve heard fans of both promotions aren’t wild about them intermingling like this, but booking men and women on the same show is pretty standard in the West so I’m sure I wouldn’t understand the problem.

Anime Pia Shin-Q Vol.4 Interviews
Translation by me. Image source for the original text is here, pictured above is the spread from the official twitter here.
Yuto Uemura as Yuliy “Pay attention not only to the action, but also the adults’ strategies.”
- Please tell us your first impression of Yuliy, the character that you play.
Uemura: When I first saw the character design, I thought he was delicate yet belligerent. But, at the story continues, I realized he was a fine Jaeger who struggles against his own heart for the aim of revenge.
- During the actual dubbing production, what did you feel was his most appealing point?
Uemura: Yuliy carries a part that overflows with a lot of emotion, and it is often Willard who sees that side. I’ll also perform to my whole power with the intention of relying on Kenyu Horiuchi.
- From Yuliy’s past in episodes 2-3, Mikhail turned out to be his older brother. What is your sense of Mikhail’s impression and appeal?
Uemura: He has become a vampire, but there’s an impression that he cares for Yuliy. Is he an enemy or an ally...? I think the mysteriousness that shakes the heart is wonderful.
- In the group of Jaegers, is there a character you particularly care about? Please also tell us why.
Uemura: It’s Phillip. Although the youngest of V Shipping, I feel there’s a charm when playing the violin. At this stage in the story, Yuliy and Phillip’s relation is not good, so the future development of those two will be interesting.
- Did you have any instructions from the director and sound director?
Uemura: For there to be a sense of distance in conversations. Because Yuliy secretly has strong emotions, what strength is needed for words toward teammates, those are all achieved one by one under guidance.
- Please tell us about the atmosphere after recording an impressive scene.
Uemura: A lot of the cast ranges from young to experienced, so there’s a really enjoyable atmosphere. Chatting about each other’s work afterwards or going to dinner together, there are many times that hold affection for the production.
- What were your impressions on watching the video?
Uemura: I was overwhelmed by the detailed attention to saguka and powerful sound design. Even from the PV alone, I saw its brilliance. The impact when I saw the full version was amazing. It makes me feel honored to add a voice to it.
- In episodes 1-3 that have already been broadcasted, what are the scenes and lines that made an impression?
Uemura: Yuliy and Agatha’s action scene in the second episode is impressive. Yuliy’s quick-wit was prominent, and I couldn’t take my eyes away. The moment at the end when he impaled Saki-chan’s father, who became a Slave, was a highlight.
- Please tell us about highlights for episode 4 and beyond.
Uemura: The speculations about the “Arc of Sirius” are entangled, and the tactics between Jaegers and vampires will become complicated. Of course, I would like for you to pay attention to the adults’ strategies.
- Finally, please give a message to the readers.
Uemura: The scenes of action and the scenes of collision between secret feelings, I’m voicing everything to my fullest extent. This is a work created by all the staff and cast. If you notice the subtle expression of that, I would be happy. Thank you very much.
Takahiro Sakurai as Mikhail “Yuliy’s tense voice was attractive.”
- Please tell us your first impression of Mikhail, the character that you play.
Sakurai: It was the image of a strong and gentle older brother. There was also the charm of a heroic impression for a younger brother.
- Yuliy turned out to be his younger brother. What was your sense of Yuliy’s impression and appeal?
Sakurai: Yuliy feels like a resilient child. Though things can be dangerous, he has many teammates who support him.
- Among the vampires, is there a character you particularly care about?
Sakurai: I’m concerned about Yevgraf. He is the most important character.
- Did you have any instructions from the director and sound director?
Sakurai: There are acting instructions for each scene Mikhail appears in. Foreshadowing or background that the cast doesn’t know, there are directions at that point.
- Please tell us about the atmosphere after recording an impressive scene.
Sakurai: Kenyu Horiuchi was excited during Mockingbird (TL: episode six). He’s a pleasant person.
- What were your impressions on watching the video?
Sakurai: I was deeply moved by the beauty of the shots. Yuliy’s tense voice was attractive.
- Finally, please give a message to readers looking forward to future developments.
Sakurai: The word of “revenge” that Yuliy says, it weighs like gravity on this story. Please enjoy the dark worldview.
Keigo Koyanagi Special Interview - Series Composer “I’d liked everyone to watch Yuliy’s tenacity in moving forward”
- “Tenrou: Sirius the Jaeger” is an original animation production. In making the settings, scenarios, etc, what did you find interesting?
Koyanagi: The appearance of the world’s setting is the 1930s― in the early Showa period, it was an era where various things were in transition. It was before buildings were relocated, organization was still incomplete, and so on. According to the story and its development, the staff studied and thought around that respect. I’d like you to have fun watching it.
- What are parts to focus on, emphasized in the basis of this work’s series composition?
Koyanagi: Of course, the era is early Showa, and a number of suspicious things are becoming serious. But there are also comical parts to Director Ando’s work that gives the viewer a chance to breathe, so there is that flavor attached to it.
- In your interaction of creating stories with the director and the producer, please tell us about particularly impressive episodes.
Koyanagi: Because it is an original work, everything starts from zero. In the weekly screenplay meetings, not only the script, but also the world’s appearance and setting are discussed by everyone. Sometimes it was confusing because each person’s preference didn’t fit together easily (laughs).
- When writing your favorite characters and screenplays, is there a character easy to write?
Koyanagi: Because I like the military, I was happy with the plot of Major Iba and the people around him. As said before, this is a transitory era of various things, so it took a lot of effort to outline the subdivisions, clothing, and equipment.
- What were your impressions on watching the video (PV or full version)?
Koyanagi: The action, of course, and the Showa era’s art and accessories are amazing. After that, the cars and trains. Although those are made in 3D, the attention to detail is unique to Ando’s supervision. And then, all of the characters are cool and cute! The male characters are cute! (Though I don’t lean that way...)
- After completion of the animation and dubbing, what was your assessment of the script?
Koyanagi: I was shocked when I watched the ED. Yuliy and Mikhail were so cute when they were little. (Though I don’t lean that way...) If time permits, I want to write more about the brothers’ childhood.
- Please tell us about highlights for episodes 1-3.
Koyanagi: For episode 1, the cityscape of the Imperial capital in the early Showa era and the backdrop of the time period are reliably drawn. Among the Jaegers, Yuliy seems to be set apart from them, and takes uncoordinated action. The reason for that will become evident later in the story. More than anything, there is the relationship between Jaegers and vampires. Because they immediately battle at every place they encounter each other (laughs). From episode 1, please pay attention to the action’s start.
For episode 2, it is the story of Yuliy meeting a little girl after he was injured. There is a mutual exchange over each other’s lost mothers, but a vampire appeared... Contrarily, I thought the air of tension diminished. When encountering her painful eyes, Yuliy’s own cloudy expression is certainly a must-see. (TL: I think he’s talking about after the battle.)
For episode 3, Yuliy’s past becomes exposed. While he recollects more of the story, you can see Yuliy as a child and Mikhail before turning into a vampire. The close brothers being torn apart is a sorrowful tale. Returning to the present timeline, the clumsy failure of the Jaegers one after another to cheer up a despondent Yuliy was also interesting.
- Beyond episode 4, what parts should we look forward to enjoying?
Koyanagi: After Yuliy’s revealed past in episode 3, you understand why he hates and continues killing vampires, but Yuliy’s heart begins to waver because his brother Mikhail has also become a vampire. And then the phrase “Arc of Sirius” begins to drift about. How will Yuliy, who has lived only for vengeance, interact with Mikhail, and how will they change while approaching the Arc’s existence? I’d like everyone to watch and enjoy Yuliy’s tenacity in moving forward.
- Finally, please give a message to the readers!
Koyanagi: The broadcast has finally begun of “Tenrou: Sirius the Jaeger.” All the staff members, including Director Ando, are working on production with our full effort. If you feel even a little bit of that from the broadcast, I would be deeply happy. Look forward to the success of Yuliy and the Jaegers! Ah, and Ryoko as well (laughs).

Road to Castle Attack Night 1 - 2/14/2021: Yuto Nakashima Debuts, Gets Injured; FinJuice Working Impact Wrestling, Some Details, Speculation, Opinion; Podcast Recording Tonight
The new tour began today, the first of four nights at Tokyo Korakuen Hall, which you can see now on NJPWWorld. Thus far, there have been no announcements of show cancellations for Iwate, Yamagata or Fukushima later this week, in the wake of the 7.3 earthquake in Fukushima yesterday. We’ll keep you posted. Results from today:
Road to Castle Attack - 2/14/2021, Tokyo Korakuen Hall (NJPWWorld)
Yuto Nakashima Debut Match: Yuya Uemura d. Yuto Nakashima (Referee Stop, 0:52)
Great O-Khan, Will Ospreay & Jeff Cobb [United Empire] d. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Satoshi Kojima & Gabriel Kidd (Cobb > Kidd, Tour Of The Islands, 8:03)
Shingo Takagi, Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI [Los Ingobernables] d. Yujiro Takahashi, El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori [Bullet Club] (Takagi > Yujiro, Last Of The Dragon, 12:33)
Tetsuya Naito & SANADA [Los Ingobernables] d. Kota Ibushi & Yuji Nagata (SANADA > Nagata, O’Connor Bridge, 13:31)
Elimination Match: EVIL, Jay White, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Chase Owens [Bullet Club] d. Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI & Toru Yano [CHAOS] (22:58) Order of Eliminations: - Yano <> Owens, OTTR - Ishii <> White, OTTR - YOSHI-HASHI, OTTR (Jado) - Goto > Loa, OTTR - Tonga > Goto, OTTR - Okada > Tonga, OTTR - EVIL > Okada, OTTR
The Bullet Club cheated like Hell to win, because, yeah, duh. Everyone in this elimination match features in a title or special singles match at Castle Attack, so this was as good a way as any to start the build.
Poor Yuto Nakashima. He made his debut today, however very early into the match, he appeared to dislocate his left elbow, therefore the referee stopped the match. Not exactly an auspicious debut for this Young Lion. His other matches are still listed as being on the cards, so he may be able to continue, or NJPW just haven’t updated the website yet. We’ll see. We hope for a quick recovery for him.
Last night, as the credits rolled for Impact Wrestling’s No Surrender event, a video played declaring former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team champions Juice Robinson & David Finlay would be “in the Impact Zone” starting with this Tuesday’s episode on AXS TV.
In some ways this doesn’t come as a surprise; Impact were already working with AEW, as seen by “Machine Gun” Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, and Don Callis being on AEW programming of late, as well as AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and the tag team of Private Party working Impact events. NJPW and AEW just made their new partnership official, so I guess it was just a matter of time before partners of partners would work together as well. FinJuice are currently Stateside, by virtue of the pandemic, so this can allow them to work Impact, as well as perhaps the NJPW Strong tapings as well. FinJuice have not been seen since the World Tag League, and Juice had a scheduled match against KENTA at WK15 that had to be taken by Satoshi Kojima due to an injury on Juice’s part.
As has been noted before, the relationship between NJPW and Impact (and for most of that, under the TNA name) has been rocky to say the least. Between Kazuchika Okada getting stuck with the “Okato” gimmick, and Jeff Hardy being clearly inebriated in his TNA World Title match against Tetsuya Naito at Wrestle Kingdom V, it was enough for NJPW to cut ties in 2011, and eventually get into partnership first with Jersey All Pro Wrestling (who soon went bankrupt afterwards), and eventually Ring of Honor.
In more recent times, Impact’s owners, Anthem Sports & Entertainment, bought AXS TV and Fight Network from Mark Cuban, and immediately put Impact on that channel, along with ending contracts with both NJPW and WOW, taking NJPW off American TV until just this week with the premiere of World Pro Wrestling on the Roku Channel. So it doesn’t seem as if NJPW would want to start a new business venture with Impact given all that.
However, it would seem this deal has been in the works for some time, according to some sources:
The deal between Impact and NJPW was reportedly the result of months of work to repair the damaged relationship between the two promotions, starting back in the summer of 2020 with Scott D’Amore and Don Callis trying to repair things. D’Amore and other Impact executives apparently flew to Japan after Anthem took over Impact ownership and formally apologized to the NJPW locker room and company for the past issues between NJPW and Impact which stemmed from previous management. NJPW having interest in using The Good Brothers was one of the factors on bringing the two sides together. Both sides are hoping that FinJuice in Impact is the beginning of what will become a larger working relationship.
Indeed, that relationship had already started, given Chris Bey had appeared at Super J-Cup 2020, which aired back in December, but was pre-taped at an undetermined time.
Personally, I don’t really care about NJPW working with Impact; I don’t watch their product, I’ve never been a fan of TNA, and frankly, beyond Anderson & Gallows coming back to NJPW, I don’t see the real benefit of being on Impact, when AEW is a lot more high profile. That said, I hope for success for the partnership for NJPW, and with the AEW partnership as well.
The most immediate question is, what becomes of the relationship between NJPW and ROH. Despite the complete disaster that was the ROH side of the G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden in April 2019, NJPW working with ROH helped facilitate not only the G1 Special shows in July 2017 in Long Beach, but also eventually brought about New Japan of America. Even so, with NJPW running solo shows in the USA, there was still a partnership with ROH, as ROH talents would appear at the last two, American-based Super J-Cups, and Brody King has been a regular fixture on NJPW Strong. On the flip side, Rocky Romero and David Finlay were both part of ROH’s Pure Tournament during peak COVID-19 lockdown, before NJPW restarted, and NJoA began Lion’s Break Collision, which became NJPW Strong. So it’s clear there is some sort of relationship with ROH, but the strength of it may be waning. This makes it more interesting when or if Dragon Lee is able to come back to NJPW, and how much his contract with NJPW is still in effect, or if it’s been seen out, due to the pandemic and travel restrictions; both Lee and his brother Rush have re-upped with ROH in the past week.
Less obvious, is what becomes of the relationship between NJPW and CMLL? In some ways, the CMLL partnership has been more beneficial than that of the one with ROH: Fantasticamania is very popular tour, not only with the NJPW crowds, but the CMLL wrestlers, as they usually make quite a bit of money from it; in addition, where would Tetsuya Naito be right now without joining CMLL’s Los Ingobernables stable, bringing it to NJPW, and making it one of the most popular things in all of wrestling? Indeed, where would Hiromu Takahashi be without his excursion as Kamaitachi, or Kyosuke Mikami to be Namajague before returning as El Desperado? The questions there are a bit endless; Jay White benefitted from his ROH excursion, but can we really say the same for either Takaaki Watanabe, Sho Tanaka or Yohei Komatsu before returning as EVIL, SHO, and YOH respectively, or did they succeed despite their excursions?
Why this is such an issue -- both AEW and Impact have varying degrees of partnerships with AAA, the biggest domestic competitor to CMLL. Kenny Omega is still AAA’s Megacampeon. Taurus just debuted in Impact last night at No Surrender. CMLL is very against working with AAA on anything; they will pull CMLL wrestlers from indie shows, Mexican or American, if they find out AAA workers are on the same show, even if they are not in the same matches. CMLL, however, are also very insular, and usually are the last to find out about anything.
It’s also worth noting that NJPW have all the leverage in their relationships with both CMLL and ROH. I would assume they do as well for their new deal with Impact. In the case of AEW, probably less so, as Jon Moxley, under an AEW exclusive contract, does have an IWGP title at the present time, so there was some necessity driving that deal.
As ever, we shall see where the winds take us with these new partnerships. Certainly, it’s a bit complicated, and I don’t claim to have any insider knowledge. But it does seem the landscape in professional wrestling is changing, once again, and NJPW should stand to benefit from it.
Now that I’ve bloviated here, it’s worth noting that @damascenocs and myself will talk about the new partnerships and a wholllllle lot more when we record Episode 72 of the podcast tonight. That likely won’t be up until Monday or Tuesday, however, so stay tuned for that.
The tour continues tomorrow, with or without Yuto Nakashima...

Margot Robbie's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles - 15+ - https://shorthaircutsmodels.com/margot-robbies-short-haircuts-and-hairstyles/ - Margot Robbie's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, This gorgeous light blonde hairstyle sways smoothly to allow. The hair to naturally compliment the face and jawline. This look is perfect for those looking for a hairstyle that is easy to maintain and style with a small product. She has a clown type of make-up and clothes but ironically everyone adores this look and this stunning Margot Robbie's new hairdo. Margot Robbie's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles Margot Robbie's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, hair always looks stunning no matter what. Although known for her golden blonde locks, the I Tonya actress worked out almost every hair color in the book from dark brunette to auburn red in various shades of blonde. The product is needed to tame fly hair. Margot Robbie goes cool in a casual look here with a side parted blunt cut falling just past her shoulders. This hairstyle may be simple but boring. With long blunt layers enveloping the Jawline, this is the perfect way to jazz up a boring bob. Margot Robbie's Haircuts and Hairstyles Margot Robbie's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, Here she is rocking a cool ash shade that looks great with. Her complexion and blue eyes. No need to stress here. This stylish blonde looks bright and multidimensional in her own right. I will complement it with their skin tone. Margot Robbie's Short Haircuts Margot Robbie's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, Do you have a secret tip for blonde hair care. The only anti-break product I know to this day is the Olaplex No3. Second blondes can use extra hydration, using masks and heat styling products for softness and protection. Davines and Shu Uemura are my favorites. This hairstyle is mainly blown flat, but the ends of this look are slightly curled to allow the hair to move freely while walking. Her hair is colored dark brunette but her hair is dyed medium blonde which looks nice. Putting all modesty aside, it's always safe to say I have really good hair. Margot Robbie's Short Hairstyles Margot Elise Robbie's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, They have said as much as anyone from hairdressers to randos on the street and for years I have grown accustomed to people associating me with waves of my natural thick thin surfer girl. The care was minimal, I'd spritz lightly with an apple cider vinegar spray and sleep damp on it, so I'd throw in any additional hair effort to reach the perfect beige and Scandinavian blonde. Margot Robbie's Haircuts Margot Elise Robbie's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, Doesn't this hairstyle make Margot Robbie look like she doesn't need care in the world? I want that feeling, and I believe that this hairstyle will make you feel young and free in no time. The waves are thin yet manageable to give this look some volume and depth, and the length of her hair is nice to keep in mind for these hot summer days. You need to use some products to lock in these waves to ensure they don't fall too much during the day as they move. Margot Robbie's Hairstyles Margot Elise Robbie's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, To keep your hair healthy and wide you will need to correct your hair every 6 weeks. But I work in fashion and beauty and that just means it's not enough to feel *content* with my looks, I need something shiny and new on a regular basis. I wasn't sure what I wanted yet. Fast forward to eagerly watching the Oscars red carpet in my Brooklyn apartment. Margot Robbie's Short Hair Margot Elise Robbie's Short Haircuts and Hairstyles, Eventually Margot Robbie returns to the screen looking at the pale pink CHANEL couture movie star but didn't notice any of it except her hair. This painfully chic wavy blunt bob is both effortless and coiffed at the same time. Her hair is a blunt cut that gives her hair a thick healthy look. Having a square face shape, these styles that cross the shoulders are ideal for him as they add length and balance the excess width. Margot Robbie's Hair It gets away with a nice centre part, but most square faces are better off with a deep side part instead. Los Angeles-based hairstylist Matt Rez specializes in hair coloring and has worked his magic on some of Hollywood's most famous names. Rez Margot is the man behind a transformation that has seen the Australian actress perform in Hollywood in Robbie's perfect blonde shadow. Rez and I talked about the secret to perfect blonde hair. How did you get such a perfect blonde color in Margot. Margot Robbie brown hair Illuminate my client's eyes and yellow level. The tips and long layers of this style are blunt cut-and-blow wavy to soften the top for a sweet and look and feel. Everyone saw him in a bold T-shirt with short shorts and, of course, crazy pink and blue hair. This hairstyle was a competitor before the film was released. Margot Robbie natural hair color When a referenced style hint hits modern, it turns into something new. The question was given a nod of Old Hollywood hair, entirely contemporary by Margot Robbie, seen in New York this morning. Yesterday I gave an interview in my personal hideout with an American game magazine. I interviewed with a writer who I've known for quite some time. I asked Scott to interpret for the first time in a long while.
We three knew each other so well that the interview proceeded amicably. We spoke without the usual formal stiffness that looms over interviews. The cameraman was a nice guy too. He really liked music.
I heartily welcome these interview experiences.
They brought up HIDEOBLOG during the interview. Most recent interviewers have talked about HIDEOBLOG. Everyone inside and outside the company asks me about it.
They all ask the same questions. "How do you put your unique sense of observation and perception into HIDEOBLOG?" They also ask, "You've written the blog for quite a while now. Do you have a backlog of potential subject material?"
I can't really answer these questions. I approach HIDEOBLOG as a diary, so I don't take the usual professional measures to prepare material.
I simply write about things that I saw, touched, or felt from the time I awoke until I arrived at the office. At night I recollect the emotions felt at work and on the way home, and I newly experience them. I don't force connections between the morning and evening thoughts. I only phrase everything honestly, without taking time to think about it self-consciously.
Consequently, I never have trouble finding material. But a bit beyond that, I don't really consider it publishable "material" either. I don't spend my day traveling or adventuring... I don't do anything special.
Chance occurrences can surprise us during our rote commutes to work, and even at work too. New discoveries abound in daily life, but you need to pay attention. Even an ordinary life becomes exciting. In my case, though, I don't self-consciously observe things around myself for the sake of the blog.
It sounds like a credit to my character if I just say that I'm sensitive... but I'm really just the sort of person who cares about everything.
For example, suppose I find a small stone in the street. I have no choice but to behold and consider it.
"Why is this small stone here?"
"Who placed it here and why?"
"Will someone trip if I leave it here? Could it cause an accident?"
"Is this a true stone, or is it a hallucination?"
And so on.
My imagination expands whenever I perceive anything. I feel switches click in my head and turn on my curiosity and imagination. A small, insignificant stimulus can result in a great story for me.
I have daydreamed since boyhood. My mind will take off the moment I feel something while I walk in the street. I enjoy observing the tangible world... but I'm not really looking directly at it. I'm looking around its corners, so to speak. My initial perception of a tangible object creates a whole world for my imagination to explore, and my mind takes off as soon as the new creative ground has been broken.
I used to fall into ditches and smack into a lot of electric poles.
I start to think about people when I'm in a crowd.
"Why is that person like that?"
"How does that person behave at home?"
"Why is that person the way he seems? Is it because of such-and-such?"
"Is that a such-and-such type of person? I expect he's like this, then...."
I create a drama or scenario that pleases me whenever I observe people. Not only people catapult me into imaginative forays... a bedroom or a car headlight seen from inside a train can whisk me away too.
It's akin to telepathy. The thoughts of nearby people and even the town intrude upon me. I fall into daydreams unless I keep my focus and my self-possession.
I'm like the younger Kirihara brother, Naoya, in Night Head.
This usually causes me to forget to exit at my train station. I can become quite dangerous behind the wheel of a car.
I don't have any problems as long as the experience remains an observation or a reverie. The real difficulty lies in my relationships with others. Nothing escapes my attention around other people, so I tend to offer advice on any subject when I'm with familiar folks. I meddle in their affairs by intuiting their thoughts without asking.
I never intend to speak meanly to them, but they usually react as though I had. I only mean to offer advice. I want to show them how to live the way that I think is best. I'm tough with myself, and I'm tough with others too.
It's all quite similar to my character portrait described in the fortune-telling blog of October 3. I wrote, "I am often so rational that I irritate others. I will insist upon a point, saying, 'No, it should be like this.' I act this way toward any subject, even if it isn't my business."
People begin to feel bedraggled around a character like mine. I always surprise them at first. They will say, "I hadn't known that anyone as delicate as you existed in the world. You have amazing sensitivity." They will heap this admiration upon me.
After we spend some time together, though, they will substitute "annoying" for "delicate."
Their attitude will change abruptly. "Why do you worry so much over trivialities? Things like that don't matter." They will say, "You have no right to criticize me! Just leave me alone! That's none of your business."
I can understand that reaction too. I can't help but feel concerned though... am I abnormal?
HIDEOBLOG serves as a record of this small part of myself.
In the morning I took a Nozomi-45 train headed to Kyoto out of Tokyo at 8:33 A.M. I listened to the live version of Green Day's album Bullet in a Bible. I had received it as a gift during yesterday's interview. I hadn't listened to Green Day before, but I learned that they have a nice sound.
"I think I'll like this band," I thought early on. "Maybe I'll buy the studio album if they turn out good." I thought of this, and then I slept deeply.
I surprisingly didn't awaken until I had arrived in Kyoto. I haven't slept enough lately, in part because of HIDEOBLOG. I sleep for three to four hours a day, kind of like Napoleon. Sleep came more easily today because of my recent deficiency. Business trips are great if they mean a bit more sleep than usual.
I joined Mr. Hamamura from Famitsu at the train station along with the NHK producer Mr. Ogaki. Mr. Hamamura was accompanied by his secretary. The university students came to look for us. Ms. Yamanaka sent me an email asking, "Have you met your escorts?"
What great timing! I appreciated her thoughtfulness. "I have met them," I replied.
We took a taxi to Ritsumeikan University. Autumn leaves colored the streets. I was told that this year's weather had allowed us to enjoy the autumn leaves a bit longer than during prior years. My visit had been well-timed. They told me that the leaves will have all scattered to the ground within about ten days.
I shared my taxi with Mr. Hamamura, and we conversed about many things. We still had so many subjects to discuss, even though we had met just two days prior for our interview. The effort of conversation started to fatigue me though. I needed to reserve some energy for my public performance.
We arrived at Ritsumeikan University's campus at Kinugasa.
The international symposium started in the afternoon. It was the 2005 Digital Interactive Entertainment Conference. The symposium's theme was "Interactive Entertainment Industry – Past, Present, & Future." They had divided it into two sessions, and the first session covered Origins of Game Design & Technology.
We had an incredible line-up. We saw Mr. Nolan Bushnell, the Founder of Gaming, who invented Pong and also founded Atari; Mr. Atsushi Ogaki, who famously produced the NHK special Denshi Rikkoku; Namco's own Mr. Toru Iwatani, who invented Pac-Man; and the legendary Mr. Masayuki Uemura, who invented the Laser Ray Gun SP, color gaming, and the Famicom Entertainment System. Mr. Masayuki Uemura now works as an advisor at Nintendo.
I listened to them from the first seating row. It was all so interesting. The speakers were incredible, and their speeches were absorbing. I wanted their voices to spread to more people. I admire the organizer who gathered them.
The first session covered gaming's origins and past, and the second session dealt with gaming's present and future. I mounted the rostrum during the second session.
I saw some great speakers during the second half too. I saw my master, Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto, the Father of Gaming, and also Mr. Robin Walker from Valve Corporation. He made his name with Half Life 2. Of course, Famitsu's own Mr. Hamamura played MC.
We concluded the second half with a four-way panel discussion. The event had such a home-like atmosphere from beginning to end.
I had the chance to meet many different people today.
I could relive the thirty years during which games had risen from the dust, after only a few hours of time travel aboard my Kyoto-bound Nozomi-45. I was busy, but I was really glad to have attended.
I felt something spring up in my mind as I looked back on the history of Interactive Media - a history to which I have devoted myself for twenty years. I enjoyed a new sense of excitement and a greater awareness of my duty.
Game creation is my life's work. I regard myself as responsible for passing on the torch to the next generation. I must give them the constructs forged by my predecessors.
I had dinner that evening with the speakers from both sessions, as well as people from the University. We sat at the world-class Japanese restaurant Senjukaku. The autumn leaves were brightly lit and beautiful.
We parted ways after that, and I checked into the hotel.
Mr. Iwatani and I went out to a bar in Kawaramachi. The bar had lots of water tanks... and I felt a slight sense of déjà vu, as though I'd gone there before.
Mr. Iwatani and I conversed about many things.
After talking with him, I learned that he and I are the same type of man. He feels things much as I do, and he also tries to become more involved with people and the world.
Despite my apprehensions, I laid all of the past three days' accumulated troubles before Mr. Iwatani. I drank three sidecars, and then I went back to the hotel.
Mr. Iwatani's words linger in my mind. "Game designers are generally kind, sweet, and warm-hearted people."

#808Randolph The $6 Secret to Getting Rid of Brassy Hair: Food Coloring and Vinegar: Changing your natural hair color is a God-given right, but it's not without its follies—I mean, pretty much everyone who messes with dye has scrambled to figure out how to get rid of brassy, orange hair at one point or another. I'm a brunette who started coloring her hair in eighth grade—a semipermanent potion that imparted a quintessentially late-'90s auburn tint that I applied in my friend Elisabetta's Upper East Side bathroom—and since have experimented with almost every shade in the book: Black, Debra Messing red, mousy brown, light brown, espresso brown, and DIY ombré among them. Eventually, I realized that the best and most flattering color for my skin tone is cool medium brown with a few blonde highlights. Easy, right? You'd think, but it's taken me years to pin down a colorist who understands the exact science of working with brown and blonde without depositing any warm tones whatsoever. Shout-out to Julie at Pembley! MORE: Here's Exactly How to Curl Your Hair Like a Pro (3 Easy Steps) Still, my hair does tend to pull red after my color's faded, and both my highlights and base tend to get brassy with time—something that bothers me way more than it should. If I see one trace of orange, gold, or red tones, my day is pretty much ruined, dramatic as that may be. That's why two Saturdays ago when I couldn't get an appointment with my colorist, I spent the entire day researching DIY fixes for brass tones (beyond standard purple and blue shampoo). Most of what I found wasn't bad, but tended to leave my hair looking a little fried and only truly worked on the blonde sections. I needed an overall fix, which is how I stumbled upon a concoction of red and blue food coloring and distilled white vinegar. There are numerous blog posts and Pinterest boards dedicated to this method which all vary slightly from one another, but the basis is the same—mixing red and blue will make purple, which neutralizes yellow-orange shades, and white vinegar is pretty much the OG for legitimate, holographic shine. Here's exactly what I did: 2 1/2 cups of white vinegar 10 drops of blue food coloring 3-4 drops of red food coloring Some beauty bloggers use neon purple food coloring for vibrancy, but I couldn't find it at my local store—and when I get the urge to mess with my hair color, waiting a day or two for Amazon to deliver is out of the question. I needed those red tones gone, like, yesterday. I found mixing red and blue worked like a dream, as long as the concentration of blue is larger than the concentration of red. Photo: Perrie Samotin Once I mixed the ingredients together in a measuring cup, I brought it with me to the shower, where I used shampoo and conditioner as I normally would. After rinsing, I poured the entire toner mixture evenly over my hair (be careful to tilt your head back to avoid getting it in your mouth and in your eyes—vinegar burns like a mother, something I learned the hard way), let it sit for about ten seconds, then rinsed it out. From there, I combed my hair, added my usual mixture of Phytodefrisant (a quarter-size amount), Redken Frizz Dismiss Rebel Tame (a nickel-size squeeze), and a few pumps of Shu Uemura Straightforward Time-Saving Blow Dry Oil Spray, and let it air-dry for about an hour. During that time, I could absolutely see a difference in the tone of my highlights, but it wasn't until I used a hair dryer that I was able to see zero traces of brass throughout. It really, really worked. Photo: Tiffany Hagler-Geard/Perrie Samotin For further evidence of how well this worked, reference the photo above. The pic on the left is me a few months ago; the right, me after my at-home toner. Some sites prefer to swap out the vinegar for white conditioner, but I'm going to stick with the vinegar—my thick hair usually leans toward matte, so it's nice to have that extra boost of shine. So far, I've done the toner treatment twice—it's not permanent, so it won't eradicate brass for more than a week or two, but—as someone who will wear a hat if my hair starts to turn orange until I'm able to get to my colorist—it's been a game-changer. It also costs around $6, which is cheaper than a chemical-filled boxed toner. MORE: You Need to See This Woman's Botched $300 Hair Dye Job Originally published February 2016. The Pony Effect
In perusing the landscape of Korean influencer culture, one finds that there are few who can claim to be more celebrated than the makeup beauty vlogger Pony.
Park Hye-Min, who goes by the username Pony, is one of the most prominent Korean YouTube makeup artists on the internet now. With over 2 million subscribers on her personal YouTube channel alone, Pony is popularly known for her makeup tutorials both in Korea as well as internationally. But the YouTuber’s influence extends far beyond just her 6 minute YouTube videos; the vlogger has had the opportunity to play a number of coveted roles, including that of spokesperson for Korean makeup boutique Etude House, makeup giant shu uemura, and even luxury name Dior. She has also written a number of books about makeup, and is also very well-known for being 2NE1’s CL’s makeup artist and personal stylist.
Additionally, she has also released her own makeup line in collaboration with Seoul-based ecommerce cosmetic start-up Memebox, under the label Pony x Memebox, as well as her own line of makeup products, called Pony Effect.
And one finds that the extent of Pony’s popularity is definitely unprecedented when placed against the history of Korean beauty vloggers. Not only does the YouTuber have an additional reach of 3.3 million followers on Instagram and almost 13 million views on her most popular video, which depicted her transformation into pop-culture icon Taylor Swift using makeup (and had looked so uncannily like the star that the video had immediately gone viral), but the vlogger has also managed to catch the attention of popular American social media and entertainment website BuzzFeed, British tabloid The Daily Mail, and even Filipino-based online news site Rappler, all of whom snapped up her amazing transformation into American celebrity Kylie Jenner and featured the Korean makeup artist on their websites. With such widespread global attention, one finds that there are evidently many reasons for Pony’s ability to so vividly capture her audience and rise to prominence.
youtube
1. Personable Professionalism
In considering the influencer culture that the new century is currently enraptured with, one finds that there are a variety of factors that have contributed to Pony’s indisputable dominance in her field, and the first of these are her ability to harness a calculated balance of relatability and sophistication online.
Our new media culture has bred new standards of attainability. The nature of social media is such that barriers to content creation are inextricably removed; no longer are our celebrities inaccessible and far away – they are people just like us, who put things on the internet in the same way we do, only they are a few thousand times more popular on cyberspace. To audiences, the appeal of social media influencers is thus: that they are ‘Like Me But Better’. Online personalities like Pony are the new faces of home remedies; affordable makeup products and videos filmed in bedrooms are coupled with easy-to-follow instructions and fool-proof tips and tricks, making for a fan-base that can say, “That looks easy, I could do that at home too.”
Additionally, social media has blurred the lines that used to exist between producers and consumers (Humphreys & Greyson, 2008). Content creation is no longer restricted to that of large companies with big budgets — home videos can just as easily go viral and garner millions of viewers and fans. And it is this phenomenon that has managed to narrow the gap between the content producer and their audiences. Influencers like Pony use sites like YouTube and Instagram that allow for and encourage fans to reach out directly to their content producers, making for a much greater level of engagement. In this way, Pony not only has a massive fan-base that is intensely supportive of all her endeavours, but she has also managed to reach out seamlessly to fans from all over the world, and gained an immense international following.
Pony with fans at the opening of an Etude House in Bugis, Singapore
One will also find that all of Pony’s videos have been carefully curated to look effortless yet perfect, and this, in essence, is reflexive of Korean culture itself. The vlogger mentions that she rehearses all her looks 5 times before demonstrating it for the camera, which is a commitment that is reminiscent of a community that celebrates perfection, diligence, and hard work. This pursuit of perfection similarly manifests itself in the country’s K-pop idols, wherein everything is practiced and professional. These seamless performances appeal to ocularly stimulated audiences, and are one of the factors that make the many aspects of Korean culture so appealing to so many.
2. Cultural Currency & International Engagement
And yet, Pony’s international acclaim cannot be solely attributed to the advent of new media. The vlogger responds with cultural sensitivity to her international audiences, and constantly looks to create inclusivity for both domestic and foreign viewers.
Undeniably, language is a major barrier that often prevents content from largely non-English speaking, monolingual countries like Korea, Japan, and even China, from moving to other parts of the world. One factor that has aided Pony in making her content known internationally are the English subtitles that she includes in her videos. Additionally, the vlogger is also constantly looking for ways to incorporate elements from other cultures and religions to allow her videos to have an even wider appeal.
For instance, many were amazed when Pony donned a hijab to show her Muslim viewers how they could use makeup to enhance their facial features while wearing a hijab. Many Muslim fans left their admiration and thanks to the makeup artist for her initiative, as well as praised her for being respectful in her portrayal of the dress style of the Muslim religion. In this regard, one finds that Pony’s international appeal is not merely the product of prolific media content production or makeup expertise, but it is also the result of a careful, perceptive and discerning response to the evolving global landscape.
Another notable thing about the beauty guru is that she makes an effort to use a variety of products from both Korean and international makeup brands, so that viewers who are not from Korea or do not have access to purchasing Korean makeup can still try out some of her looks and relate to her videos. The YouTuber also creates looks from non-Korean pop culture to increase engagement with her non-Korean audiences. For instance, besides her viral Taylor Swift transformation video, Pony has also replicated the look of American beauty icon Kylie Jenner, as well as that of the Marvel character Black Widow from the blockbuster movie The Avengers. In referencing pop culture icons outside of the Korean sphere, Pony displays an awareness of the sociocultural environments and interests of her international fans, and by making an effort to engage them in their own space, has established for herself a reputation of openness and currency.
3. Beauty Without Borders
“Beauty transgresses language. You can watch an amazing tutorial in Korean and, you may not be able to understand the language, but you can get the general gist of the application and the content is still transformative for you,” says Moj Mahdara, chief executive officer of fashion company Beautycon.
With the advent of globalisation, the world has become very flat. Makeup products from across the world can be made available at the department store two blocks down from you within weeks of being released, and social media is lending influencers a reach that was unprecedented just a decade ago.
Additionally, Korea’s domestic cosmetics market is quickly becoming oversaturated. Currently, there are about 1,800 to 2,000 beauty brands in South Korea, which is a staggering figure for a city so small. This means that influencers like Pony are looking toward international markets to gain even more traction in the global arena. Social media is becoming a driving force that is propelling digital talents to a fame that is not limited to their geographical boundaries or time zones. It is no longer unusual for online personalities to have a large international following, regardless of limitations like language, culture, or socioeconomic status.
And with influencer culture quickly becoming normative, young people are now looking more and more toward influencers than they are to beauticians or salespeople for beauty advice. 66% of young people surveyed say they are more likely to buy a product if it is recommended by an online personality, simply because if it goes through an influencer first, it’s tried-and-tested by a trustworthy secondary source.
In this regard, one finds that the scene is increasingly changing to accommodate the fluidity of information transfer nowadays, and multiple factors will mould and shape the way that influencers are received on cyberspace. However, one finds that there is no doubt that Pony is definitely one cyber-personality who has made it big.

Tiger Hattori Retirement Ceremony
Tiger Hattori thanked the fans as he called time on his career. Visitors to the event included Keiji Muto, Riki Choshu, Hiroshi Hase and The Great Kabuki. There were also video messages from Antonio Inoki (another one!), and Genichiro Tenryu. During the matches, Hattori got to throw out Gedo & Jado... one last time. He will be missed in the ring.
In other goings on, Nakanishi had his first of four final matches, leading into Saturday’s retirement ceremony. Roppongi 3K and the Mega Coaches got into it post-match as well, leading into tomorrow’s title match.
On that note, what with the current crisis of COVID-2019 going on in Asia, and the world, NJPW has given a statement on the status of current shows in the wake of the coronavirus:
The New Coronavirus (COVID-2019) has been a persistent worldwide news topic for some weeks, and understandably has many concerned. New Japan Pro-Wrestling holds the health, safety and comfort of fans, wrestlers and staff at live events as a top priority, and as such, after careful consideration, we have arrived at a policy for live events in the immediate future.
All currently scheduled live events will proceed as planned. In light of this decision, we invite attendees to take the following precautions at events:
–Be mindful of your physical condition before an event. If you have a fever, cough or cold symptoms or feel otherwise unwell, please stay home.
–Additional disinfectant alcohol sprays will be available for attendees to use at every venue. We invite every attendee to disinfect their hands on entering each venue.
–NJPW encourages attendees to wear surgical masks at live events where at all possible. Staff members may also be wearing masks. We also encourage fans to thoroughly wash their hands and gargle.
–Please leave the venue if you become unwell during an event. Be aware that staff may advise attendees to leave if they seem unwell.
–Meet and greets/autograph signings at events will be canceled until further notice. We appreciate your understanding.
–Refunds will be made available for tickets purchased to March events. While events will all proceed as planned, we appreciate fans’ concern, and would like to ask ticket holders not to attend if they feel at all unwell.
With the best interest of public safety at heart, additions, including attendee health checks, may be made to the above at a later date. Keep checking njpw1972.com for more details.
We appreciate your continued support of New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
This is the opposite tack that Bushiroad’s other wrestling promotion, STARDOM, has taken, as they have cancelled a slew of events in the wake of COVID-2019. Here’s hoping everyone affected by the coronavirus, and beyond, will be alright.
Tomorrow is the first proper New Japan Road show, and it will be on NJPWWorld. There are two title matches, as well as the second Nakanishi Final match.
