Meditacija o uštipcima od banane

Nakon prve smjene odrađene na poslu, i druge za štednjakom u kuhinji, zadovoljna, pomalo i umorna, uvalila sam se u fotelju u kutu dnevne sobe.

Sklopila sam oči na tren; tišina oko mene učinila je ostalo. Zaronila sam u mir svog unutarnjeg svijeta.

Opuštena tijela, zadovoljna i spokojna, čula sam tek ritam svog disanja. Gotovo da sam zaspala. Vjerojatno i bih, no u umu mi se polako kristalizirala zanimljiva slika.

Na baršunastoj podlozi nalazila se čaša bijelog vina... Ili možda šampanjca.. Ne mogu dokučiti..

Pored nje bila je posudica napunjena s..., aha, vidim, s uštipcima. Primjetih da su lijepe smećkaste boje, na vrhu bijeli od šećera.

Mirno sam promatrala tu sliku. Svidjela mi se. Odlučila sam ući u nju.

Čim sam zakoračila jednom nogom preko zamišljenog okvira, osjetih miris toplog ulja s primjesom ruma...

Promatrala sam ih, razmišljajući od čega su spravljeni. Odjednom vidjeh svoju ruku da se polako pruža prema jednom od njih, onom na samom vrhu s najviše šećera. Prinijela sam ga ustima, zagrizla i...

Iznenadilo me, ali osjetila sam okus... banane, i malo kokosa.. svakako ulja i ruma i.. znam, cimeta.

Otvorila sam oči. Znala sam na što me podsvijest podsjetila.

Potrebno:

1 banana brašno sok od pola limuna/limete 1 žlica šećera malo soli malo ruma prašak za pecivo malo kokosa šećer za posipanje

Banana se očisti i izmiksa da bude glatka poput kreme. Primješa joj se limun, stavi žlica šećera, prašak za pecivo, cimet, malo ruma, soli i kokosa, a svemu se dodaje oštrog brašna dok se ne ugusti tako da se može žlicom napraviti uštipak.

Smjesa se ostavi barem 15 minuta u hladnjaku, Na vruće ulje stavljaju se uštipci, prže se 2-3 minute na lagano vatri i okreću. Kad počnu plutati - gotovi su.

Kad se malo ohlade i ocijede od ulja, posipaju se šećerom.

The new apartment was nice. Nicer than any of the ones they’d lived in before. It was modern. It was... American. It was the height of luxury for Wanda. Perhaps that is why she felt so out of place in it, despite her very best efforts to conform and fit in. Especially for Pietro’s sake. 

What made it feel a little more like a home was the fact that they had a roommate-- Kara. She shared the room with Wanda. Admittedly, it was a little strange not to share a room with her brother. This arrangement made more sense, however. Sokovian apartments were always filled with people living together in small spaces. The Soviets had thought it the best way for everyone to police each other. Even after communism had fallen in the region things had remained the same. Nevertheless, there had been no way Wanda and Pietro could have afforded this place all on their own. No, they’d needed help. Wanda had hoped that by having a roommate, they’d have a built-in friend as well. 

Wanda was shy. Reaching out to someone new in a language she didn’t speak fluently was daunting. Even more so when she thought about how in every home she’d lived in, destruction had taken it away. People had died. Some part of her had taken that on. Survivor’s guilt. She didn’t want Kara to be the next casualty. 

Still, she didn’t want to alienate the woman living with them. Especially when Pietro had eyes for her. Wanda could be blind and know that. 

“I was going to make Uštipci. Would you like to help?” Wanda hoped maybe the sweet treat could bridge the divide between them and helped them to bond. She’d always loved cooking with the women in her family and learning from them. Maybe Kara would too? It was worth a try at least.

Kad je nešto jednostavno, a neodoljivo i jako ukusno. 😊 🍌 Uštipci sa bananama 🍌 Potreban materijal: 2 zrele banane 2 kašike šećera 120g mekog brašna pola kesice praška za pecivo 1 jaje ulje za prženje šećer u prahu za posipanje Priprema: Izgnječiti viljuškom grubo banane, dodati šećer, brašno, jaje i prašak za pecivo. Sve dobro izmešati i sjediniti. U dublju šerpicu zagrejati ulje. Metalnu kašiku potopiti u vrelo ulje, uzimati pripremljenu masu i spuštati u vrelo ulje. Pržiti sa svih strana dok lepo ne porumene – par minuta. Pržene vaditi na papirnati ubrus.
