send me a made-up fic title and i’ll tell you what i would write to go with it

Oooh. Oh yeah, you can bet I’d make a sort of hurt/comfort fic for this. Lotta hurt

So, at least the first larger part would be basically these snippets of the Stan twins’ falling out. 

Because say what you will, but personally I believe that the fight after the science fair wasn’t the first and only upset in their relationship. I think there was stuff under the surface, while not terrible, that was still having a bit of a built up. So, it’d be these small scenes progressing from I’d say preteens/kids and on. 

The VERY first scene would have to be something important, but as a rough guesstimate I would say the first time Stan and Ford get singled apart as the ‘brain and brawn’ deal and not just that, but it’s probably Stan who goes and basically goes ‘oh haha yeah this isn’t for me it’s all smart, i’m the brawns here - you take this poindexter’ 

Then a scene with Pa basically ragging on a kid Ford for not really participating in boxing class as much and like ‘this is why you get bullied’ and ‘why cant you be more like your brother.’

and then oh a scene with crampelter/bullies with the stans as like new teens and him basically managing to physically beat them out or whatever (though it wouldn’t be a huge deal) and at the end of it ford is like ‘good thing you were here… i probably would have gotten scrapped up hah…’

THEN like 15-age range when theyre going into high school and ford is acing all this stuff and teachers of course have a parent teacher thing at the end of the year like they do and stan doesn’t try bc who cares really? geometry is a bunch of junk anyways. but the actual scene is pa basically talking to him and saying how much of an inconvenience it was for them to have to talk to the teachers regardless then they were expressing concerns for him and ‘how do you have a d in all these classes, are you really that stupid?’ and ‘its not that hard to even just get ‘b’s - heck the other one is getting all ‘a’s’ and ‘why cant you be more like your brother.’ bECAUSE I’M A SUCKER FOR THOSE PARALLELS (and also HIGH KEY i hc filbrick played that card on both of them all the time)

then a scene with them on the stan o war shortly after that with stan putting emphasis on the boat and sailing out of town and leaving it all behind and sticking together and ford being VERY quick to jump on board with the idea

then smaller more scenes leading up to the fight - as well as after the fight with snippets where they decide not to contact the other 

then post portal one or two small exchanges of them being separated 

and FINALLY 

them on the stan o war and it’s during while all of this is going great - 

and either there’ll be a lil montage of basically ford doing some brawn stuff and stan doing smart stuff - or actual scenes.

but basically a scene with them casual talking and kind of realizing that they’re not both some half of a dynamic duo that holds up one aspect and possibly stan making a joke like ‘guess we’re both a 2 for 1 package, whadya know’ 

and i think the sort of big finale/climax is them like having a heart to heart (while at port at some place of course bc yes i would) and BASICALLY the whole reason BEHIND that fight and how none of this got resolved really comes out genuine and without the snapping really - just honest ‘i was scared i was going to be all alone and i didnt know what i was going to do and i got mad but i didnt mean to break it’ and ‘i shouldnt have let dad kick you out but i was mad and scared bc dad was there too and i convinced myself youd be okay’ then them both basically saying how they never contacted the other bc of their own pride/stubborness to prove that they didn’t need someone (which though unsaid is at least implied in narrative is bc they were both RAISED to think that they were only half of what a person should have been, largely in part due to filbrick’s parenting, and thusly thought they NEEDED one another to form one respectable person)
