Discerning the world
Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible but not everything builds up.
1 corinthians 10:23
We have been freed to love the weaker brother/sister, freed to love our spouses, freed to love others who are hard to love.
What is enslaving to you?
- something permissible but not very beneficial for building up.
Proverbs: lady wisdom- woman cries out 1:20-21.
Later lady foolish- foolishness personified as a woman.
Everyday decisions are not black and white, but you are competing against lady wisdom and lady folly.
What is the wise thing to do?
Wisdom is remarkably diverse.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but it si diverse.
Proverbs 30:4
Four things on earth are small but they are wise.
Time wasters each week- discern the world- it is the world you are in. What habits do you need to change to live in this universe before the Lord Almighty.
Philippians 4:4-5
Bearing the patience, purity as Jesus everywhere you go. Witness to Jesus, and the future life that is to come. Are my everyday decisions witnessing to the lfie that is to come? Is it witnessing to the glory and splendour you will have when Jesus Christ returns?
Are you witnessing to self glorifying present or future hope that is to come? In all your decisions?
What is true beauty?
Philippians 4:8-9
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me-practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
You were made for fullness-
It would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong but too weak. We are half hearted creatyres fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinige joy is offerend to us, like an ignorant chuld who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are too easily pleased.
We are too easily pleased with the present things that we are blinded to the joy of what is to come.
The solution: when you realise you are listrning to lady folly and not lady wisdom.
One hero that became love, bore witness to God, jesus christ

Hearing the word of God until character is formed.
Our lives are controlled by our rituals we choose to cultivate or to tolerate.
Christians are made not born.
Hearing the word of God until character is formed.

How can we love others?
How can we love those who have hurt us?
Jesus embodied the very principles he laid down for us. Jesus took on the ultimate repayment so we can treat others the way we want to be treated. He has given us of Himself already.
If that is true and it has applied, then is there anything more that we owe?
We have to first know how Jesus loved and has loved and paid the price for us so that we can love others.
Love God love neighbours love enemies.

Normal is too mainstream
The believer is not to be mainstream, they have to be extra- extra in their love for others.
Christians are told to have a love that is off the charts.
This is Jesus’ standard of our behaviour towards one another. To those who are our family friends colleagues and those we don’t get along with.

For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, Everyone who does not do everything written in the book of the law is cursed. 11 Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous will live by faith. 12 But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them. 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, because it is written, Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. 14 The purpose was that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles by Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promised Spirit through faith.
