Twitter reacts to “Maury” show ending

Deadline confirmed the report on Sunday (March 20), reporting it was a mutual decision between the studio and the celebrated host Maury Povich to call it quits.

The endless paternity tests, family drama, and laughs are coming to an end as NBCUniversal has announced the “Maury” show will not continue after this season.

Maury, apparently, was ready to walkaway from daytime television years ago. “Six years ago when I was ready to retire, my the NBCUniversal family asked me to continue the show,” Povich told Deadline. “Even though I told them I was ready for assisted living, out of loyalty to NBCUniversal and my more than 100 staff and crew members, Tracie Wilson and I agreed to one more deal.”

“Maury and I decided two years ago that this season would be the farewellseason for the show, and while his retirement is bittersweet, we are so happy for him to be able to spend more time on the golf course,” Tracie Wilson, EVP, NBCUniversal Syndication Studios, said in a statement to Deadline. “Maury is a television icon, a pop culture legend and we couldn’t be more proud to have been a part of his incredible career.”

While new episodes will air through September, repeats will continue to run on the network. Twitter, of course, had plenty to say about “Maury” ending after three decades.

Okay so you’ve just tickled a fun fact out of me. My dad is a teacher and for years, he’s often been surrounded by women teachers. YUP shoka is swallow. I had many ideas but that one was probably the least surprising one? Given how easily she turned on the reapers for them and the like...weird and vaguely unearned tension between her and rindo lol. At least I don't have to wonder anymore! (I genuinely wonder how going through the game KNOWING that swallow is definitely good and has been rindo's friend for a long time will affect how i see her and their relationship. Shoka made sense from a writing standpoint, but character-wise Swallow has a very different impression from Shoka. Which I think is kinda the point; both she and Rindo are much less prickly people in their conversations with each other. I know I'm definitely a different person when I communicate via text. Ok well! Episode 5 was a huge improvement! This genuinely felt like Digimon, at least early Digimon anyway. It was fun and action-y, and not completely devoid of character moments. The heart of this episode was Koushirou and that is SO EXCITING. I have crossed all my fingers, toes, and even my eyes that Koushirou will continue to be muy importante, just as much as heavy hitters like Taichi and Yamato are. None of this “backseat crunching numbers” nonsense!

I was disappointed last ep that we didn’t get to see the actual first meeting of Koushirou and Tentomon, but I suppose it probably went something like this:

Tentomon: Koushirou-han! I’ve waited for you!

Koushirou: A digimon! I must analyze your data!

Tentomon: Analyze my...? *blush* At least buy me dinner first!

Well we also get Plotty McPlot stuff right off the bat. Remember the old series where we knew nothing about anything till like right before the first big boss battle?? They ain’t beating around the bush this time. Not sure how I feel about that - as I’ve said before, I loved the “where are we! guess we have to rely on our own incompetence!” concept of Digimon Adventure that siphoned off some of the blatant “this is an RPG” aspect. We don’t have that too much this time around - Taichi is REALLy goal-oriented and seems to even have magic powers?? as in he can read digi-code. My guess is they ALL can, courtesy of their digivices (and maybe I’ve already forgotten if Koushirou or Yamato already did this earlier?). How convenient for the plot that there’s no trouble reading secret messages at all!

So Taichi and Sora have had no difficulties finding this special shrine and learning the lore of the digital world. There was a Great War that shifted the balance of light and dark. We are right back in RPG territory.

We see a bunch of familiar faces. I’m not sure if this is the same makeup as previous ancient guardians in other seasons, but it’s got the essential theme at least.

So I don’t know if this is supposed to mean Agumon & co are literally reborn versions of these great warriors, but I think that’s what Agumon and Piyomon suddenly bursting into tears while wailing that they don’t know why they’re crying is supposed to be hinting at.

So this turnip/radish village is just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. And I loved the silence of this ending bit. This really did feel like Digimon, a bit more creative and intriguing than anything in episode 4. (Except for Sora and that knife.) This gives me Hope.

Yesterday was a good ass day for networking at the expo!!!

I tattooed the shop girl of another studio from Reno and ended up going to dinner w the whole crew / and then mobsssssss of tattooers came to the brewery and we all completely filled that place up. The waitresses were so stoked lol they get tipped FAT by happy n busy n drinkin tattooers. YOOOO one of the artists I was eating dinner with randomly name dropped the fucking married guy that used me to cheat on his WIFE and I was like bruh lemme tell y’all a quick story fuCK that fucking guy and then we made fun of him. An artist from my first licensed shop was there at the brewery walkin by me and we gave each other a nod as he passed (which is cool / more than I expected bc his baby mama who also worked w us haaaaates me but that’s ok he didn’t I spose). I think it was a “I respect u” nod bc his baby mama saw me at the con and tried to avoid my eyes but I looked her in the face and smiled til she did it back. Lmao. Binch. They’re the ones who accidentally helped me blow up locally, bc they walked out n quit one day and all of their extra clients turned into mine and suddenly I had the workload of 3 tattooers in my lap instead of just me. Waaay back in the day aw :,) AND two cute ass tattooer dudes that I was like “!!” about both walked up to my booth and introduced themselves and that felt gr8. Along with a ton of other people?! Just wanting to meet me and my boss? It was rad. I hustled so many packs n prints and shook so many hands (ew). Got like 4 designs reserved from my flash who are gonna come up to pdx to get tattooed. Almost fought a bitch for taking pictures of my flash book. Got tipped in weed and stacks AND stance socks 😭 I’m a happy hoe, I can get my dentures done so soon now!

Caught up with one of my homies from Philly for a few min when we were miraculously NOT tattooing at the same time and he gave me a hug and took a healed pic of my arm. Stopped by a local friends booth and he was talkin me up big time so I gave him a sticker pack.

Can’t wait to see what happens today! One tapout sesh and then I might take a walk up or two depending on the time. Then loading up and driving the fuck home!!! To my kitties!!

Ariana clapped back at those doubting and questioning her lightning-fast engagement to Pete Davidson. She was tagged by a fan account on IG who posted a paparazzi photo where Pete is clearly flipping off the camera. One fan commented on the post, “BRUH IM DEAD HE FLIPPING US OFF”. Ariana responded to the fan clarifying who Pete was flipping off, “R u NuTS?????? The PAPS..not YOU…..???? ever��??? Stop w this sh–. Please. Forreal. I love ya’ll too much for this. I just sometimes document my sorry life as the years progress in college, that’s kinda what i’ve been doing since I started my tumblr back in HS, so here I go (eve though I don’t wanna now, but i’m gonna coz I’m gonna be mad at myself if I have to do it later lol)

So Tuesday was a funny day because we had to play a game in music ed (to learn games for if and whenever we have to teach elementary music classes), and it involved picking a partner. I was sitting on one end of the room, and there are two guys who I’m a lil sus of, you feel me? Like they think I’m cute or something idrk, but as my suspicions told me, the one that was sitting closest to me (he’s like 6′ tall btw) he came up and kinda “chose” me (acting like ‘oh wow how did I end up here in front of you?’) and the other guy’s like at least 5′7 more or less, and he was behind my friend kinda peeping at me 😂😂 It’s funny because he was sitting all the way across the room from me, walked all the way to me, to see my 6′ tall ass friend and he was peeping 😂😂 Idk what guys think like 99% of the time, and 100% of the time about me. Because the shorter one, I officially met him back in Feb at TMEA, and he was in the hall chatting, as was i, but to John, but he smiled at me from time to time it was like ? bruh?

Anyway, the game required for us to hold hands, so I held hands with tall guy (we’re actually home skillets tho so idk) and the game was he had to walk in one direction (there’s an inner and outer circle) and when it gets to a part in the song, the inner circle goes the other way, we double time and pick another partner. Whoever doesn’t have a partner tho, ends up in the middle and can steal a partner next time. Each time, I managed to grab a partner which I mean it wasn’t difficult I guess, i was just being bold attacking the closest person to me, but short guy got stuck in the middle, and immediately when the song ended (which is when you grab a partner) he lunged out of the circle and grabbed my wrist like it was some kind of coincidence. (I D O N T U N D E R S T A N D) like clearly it wasn’t because he was already facing me before the song even stopped it was... bruh. He’s got a girlfriend and I’m actually not familiar with him. Like he’s actually stupid, stupid cute, so idk what his thought process is... I need a straight guy friend I can trust and talk to him coz...

I mean, then today, I went to my HS to talk to my former director to get some rehearsal technique tips... he wasn’t there, but I walked into the freshmen boy’s choir, and MY NEW GOOD OL PAL J (the new assistant, he asked me to call him by his first name omg :,) I’m a big gorl now!!) had things under control, but like I walked in, and all the guys were like, “HEY BEAUTIFUL” like ya’ll some nasty, young, dusty... but at least now I know I’m pretty lol. I mean, even my newest good ol pal J kinda shook me, coz we were just chatting about music school, and he was like “you’re 21 that’s adorable/cute” (idr which he said coz I got shook) and I just looked at him like 👀 come on now. 😂 BUT I MEAN HE FOLLOWED IT WITH “You’re a baby!” he’s like 28... yeah he’s a grandpa. Idk I was like kinda hUh?? when he said that like he’s my new good ol pal... like bruh u a teacher don’t call me cute yet. I’m still getting used to this whole networking as a professional, but I’m not discrediting him, he’s an amazing human. He was like “Josie’s a voice teacher, if you wanna work with her...” i was like “shit i can’t sing but thanks ily” lol. Fun times... Imma see them again on Monday... not the freshmen boys tho coz for what really? Unless Mr. B’s over there coz he’s #Father
