what made you want to learn japanese? i don’t know if you have answered this before, but i was curious :)

oh, im half japanese! so i wanna learn bc i would love to be able to actually communicate with my family akdhfkdjds.

the main reason i didn't learn it when i was younger is because when i was put in japanese classes as a kid, the teachers only spoke japanese, and i didn't know enough to actually understand them, so i never learned anything & the whole experience was so frustrating it made me swear to not learn japanese for most of my elementary & middle school life. to this day i despise immersion classes and avoid them like the plague

just a random thought- if hector somehow time travelled and met the version of himself from just before being kidnapped by the nautiloid, how different would he seem to his younger self? would he give himself any advice?

His younger self would be UTTERLY BAFFLED by his endgame self.

It's the exact same face, but this is still babyface Hector on the left, because he has NO idea what he's in for.

Nautiloid Hector had basically zero skills outside of praying, remembering historical facts, and punching people. (Actually, he wasn't even punching people at that point; he was hitting them with a big stick.) Luckily one of those things came in handy long enough for him to survive and learn many other things, like what it is like to have bonds of friendship forged through shared struggle, the importance of purpose beyond ascetic devotion, the extent to which the support of others can carry him beyond his own limited abilities, the value of deep emotions - all of them from joy to fear to grief, and the absolutely overwhelming variety and diversity of the world at large.

So endgame Hector looks at nautiloid Hector and sees a man with a great deal to learn, an abundance of naivete, utterly terrified, and also dreadfully lonely though he doesn't realize it yet.

Nautiloid Hector looks at endgame Hector, conversely, and sees a terrifying war-battered lovestruck guerrilla juggernaut that he does not understand in the slightest. XD It was a long journey from there to here.

I think Hector's primary advice to his younger self would be to keep an open mind. That there is much more to the world than what he was exposed to in the first five decades of his life and he will be the better for opening himself up to it.

Good advice in general, I think. :)

You wouldn't be able to tell since I draw them so much as of late but arval........their honeycomb. plate. tabard . Thing. I vacillate wildly between being obsessed with it and loathing it depending on if I'm drawing it or not. Also what is going on on the back of their head? Their hair is so cubey I don't understand... And if it's epi then you've got the wing things which took me ages to figure out how they're shaped for some reason

Their design looks chefs kiss MWAH in game or in finished pieces but oh my goodness please help my doodling, cutting-corners hand

10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw

I'm a huge fan of crinkly clothes, cloth that comes to oddly sharp angles. Like where big poofy sleeves that are cuffed come to an end. Or where pants crinkle, at the knees and ankles. These bad boys

Hmm that's a difficult question because the stuff I draw is 90% of the time so Very straightforward funny fan art...

Oh but one time someone reblogged a MDZS post of mine and said in the tags that they didn't go there but thought it was funny, and the post is. This one. And you need SO MUCH context to get what the joke is like wow that is an entirely different joke.

Hihi this is kinda random but this song where are they now by emily jeffri reminds me of when q is stuck with those power disabled thingys (im super behind on your book i need to catch up💀) but just the vibe reminds me of how despressing and confused and draining the disablers were described to feel and the first few lyrics remind me of how he'd feel when he first arrives in pandora with the disablers on and "the where are they now i dont care anymore" bit feels like howd he feel thinking pt 1✨

Ooooooh I love this sm!! It's a cool song, I love this hazy, disoriented feel. It really was like that for r!Q. He just got fuzzier and fuzzier the longer he was in there with the supressors. At first it might have caused headaches + dizziness, like a light hangover, (around the same time he yelled at Wilbur- so yes, he was capable of critical thinking, and yes, he did choose to say awful horrible things.) As time went on he lost count of days. He could barely tell when he was sleeping or not, he could barely think about anything other than his current situation and how stupid, how goddamn thick he had to be to fall for all this. If he had been there longer, much longer, it would have rotted his mind much more permanently.

I believe there were moments after talking to Techno that Q wondered if the talk had been a dream. Or a hallucination. Maybe he'd finally lost it. He'd wonder if anything happened at all, if he had been here for years, or maybe only a day. The condition of his eye socket, getting itchier and itchier by the day, was one of the few things that told the time for him.

I feel that if a superpower is something you gain at such a young age, if it's an integral part of most people throughout history since the dawn of time, power supressors can not be entirely easy to manage. To stop up your ability to use that age-old gift, it has to go through plenty of other side effects, it has to fuck with you, and I really don't believe it can be any other way.

If the power supressors didn't have such awful side effects, Q might have been able to tell that something didn't add up. (But it wouldn't stop him from wondering. It wouldn't stop him, when Wilbur comes to check on him, from quietly asking if Wilbur actually did it. He still lacked the trust, he still lost his cover.) But the supressors muffled his ability to think, to lie, to safe himself.

The power supressors didn't give Q trust issues, they stripped away everything that was fighting the trust issues. They stripped away the love and the hope so everyone could see how Q felt at his core. In that way, they are very different from drugs or alcohol- with supressors, you never say anything you don't mean.

I love this song and I think it just fits him perfectly there. Thank you sm :]

10. what does your f/o do that makes your heart flutter? and vice versa!

Maybe weirdly specific, but Freddy takes a lot of comfort in feeling small, so when he wants to show affection he'll try and approach at an angle that makes him feel shorter than me, and it always gives me the same warm fuzzies.

Freddy gets his equivilent of a heart flutter when I'm scampering around on all fours, he finds it really cute, which I find kinda funny since I'm usually only roaming around four wheel drive at the Plex when I'm looking for something I've dropped.

15. how does your f/o respond to physical affection from you? do they like pda, or are they more reserved? how do you respond to physical affection from them?

Freddy thrives on affection/attention. He's only nervous about PDA specifically because of management, but the few times we do get brave his telltale ear wiggling say it all. He's open to directly asking for affection, but sometimes he'll position himself just so, trying to be cute and subtly tell me he wants a kiss.

I'm about the same level of enthusiasm, if he's loving on me for long enough I couldn't stop myself purring even if I tried my hardest.
