Holiday Classics

Been thinking about Ford watching the 70s Animated Lord of the Rings Movies... (companion comic to this post!)

#the other two VHS tapes Fidd's is holding are Rankin-Bass' The Hobbit (1977) and Return of the King (1980)! The 70s animated pseudo-trilogy!#A lot of people pointed out on my other lotr 'crossover' post that Ford would have seen the 70s movies!#And i wont lie i entirely forgot they existed. But now i remember i have so many feelings on it okay. Ford my silly LOTR nerd #I dont think he would have seen Bashkis in theaters. far as I can tell it was a VERY limited (likely mostly CA) run in the middle of winter #but Rankin-Bass'? Aired on NBC & ABC. He absolutely woulda watched them or rented a VHS later. Which is why he's most excited by Bashki's #He's just such a nerd. I need him to nerd out. But also lowkey angst on how his single focus on bill/the portal lead #him to neglecting even the small things in life. i dont understand the hate toward musicals as a genre tbh

#i understand hating CERTAIN musicals but i cant understand why something being a musical wld put u off otherwise #like u dont like having more songs to get stuck in ur head?#maybe i was borned to be a theater kid but my shame gland got too big LMAO. also saying this #as someone who will run to the tv if hairspray is on and sing every single song #talkys #anyway i would go see wicked bc the cgi looks boring and its 3 hours and idc about ariana #but id otherwise be interested since ive heard the songs in other media or such growing up #my brother said he wouldnt wanna go on the sole basis of it being a musical as if thats not the only good part (of the new movie at least)#*wouldnt go see

I support small fees for things that should probably be free because it keeps human refuse away. A park near where I live was once free to the public and you couldn't even drive by without seeing litter everywhere, whole park was covered in a haze of weed stick and vague booze smell, always some group of racially ambiguous 19 year olds hanging out in the parking lot scaring off the elderly. About a year ago they started charging $1 (ONE WHOLE DOLLAR) to enter and its like I moved to fucking marthas vineyard. ZERO litter, no more 24/7 skunk stank, I don't even bother locking my car half the time, you can actually see wildlife walking around in the park now, it's wonderful. I don't know what it is about literal pocket change that scares these cretins away but if that's all it takes then I'll happily spend a dollar for a few peaceful minutes at the park.

#a movie theater nearby used to show 2-3 year old kids movies for free during the summer (guess they made money on concessions) and I'd go pr #AME churches would literally bring the single mother raised little niglets in by the bus load so they could make as much noise as physicall #They started charging $1 per movie and most theaters were half empty and as peaceful as any other

Finally a movie that asks “remember being 12 and realizing you Were Not Straight and the near constant waking agony that put your mind and body in especially at the thought of your Irish-Catholic parents who you adored treating you differently? and even though now you’re a successful well-off if slightly lonely woman in the big city who came out (literally!) the other side you still don’t really like thinking about it because it was the most painful period of your life and probably effects who you are as a person today? What if for two hours we sat in those feelings and at the end you applauded?”

Lauren Lopez got within six feet of me and just like that, I understood the draw of theater.

#She's giving me a mild crisis because attraction is so rare for me #I knew I liked her in the few starkid videos I've seen #But she's incredible #I have a thing about competency and she just. Fanfic prompt: Vio travels back in time to the moment shadow tried to recruit him to the side of darkness

And joins this time around with the intention to win him over at all costs and with all means necessary so that the other doesn’t have to die again

He will do everything to prevent it this time

The second he joins he immediately starts to aggressively push at shadow with any and all things he can to make him switch sides

Even straight up flirting (he is desperate enough to do anything by that point)

But shadow with his single overworked braincell is incredibly dense and it flies all over his head except that Vio obviously wants to be friends with him

Vaati at the other hand is creeped out to hell and back as in fully disgusted and disturbed by Vio

Like that is just messed up

He is so uncomfortable by it that he tries to shield shadow from him (because shadow is his and ganondorf's weird magic baby/thrall/demon/ thing and nobody else should be allowed to look at his property like this)

Because what the heck is that supposed to be

(The second Vio found out he got worse on purpose just to piss him off)

And he can’t even kick him out because it is a weak reason for getting rid of a useful player

Shadow finally gets some form of affection in this timeline (good for him bad for Vaati and Vio because they are both fighting about shadow by this point)

Vaati decides against sending Shadow anywhere alone with Vio

Vio tries hard to convince him (as in nearly begging him because he needs to keep the timeline predictable )

It somehow makes him even more uncomfortable with shadow being anywhere near him

Vio then just straight up starts begging him on his knees and everything

After the most uncomfortable hours in his entire life he agreed (but he definitely will be breathing down his neck because that was just unsettling)

When the confrontation happens between Vio and the colors at the fire temple

He doesn’t tell the lie of how he understood darkness or something he just straight up tells them that he went because of shadow

The colors are concerned

The colors are also weirded out by the way Vio acts because from what they remember Link never was a degenerate

So why is Vio so obsessed and unsettling about literally everything (he has decided to troll everyone and also can’t change his role on the whim because Vaati is probably watching him )

It ends up interesting to say the least

I was like Insane over the stage and light design #like. the stage is tilted toward the audience. so whatever's going on at the back you can see the whole way through #there's an actual shredder on stage. hedda throws flowers in there whenever she gets mad #at the beginning of the second act a single bulb hung from a string lowered from the light rig #and then at the end the whole rig lowered and hedda swung on a swing made of the single bulb's strings #it was Fucking Good #so good that I drew. these #fksjfhdskj this is like. idk this feels like exactly the thing I did years ago for like. spirou and stuff #I probably understand colors a bit better than I did then? but I feel like the ~~aesthetics~~~ is the same lmao #well. it deserves it. that was once again Fucking Good #commemoration!#man. the chair. throughout the whole play there's this empty chair the characters keep dressing up in all kindsa clothes #and the servant character sat right outside the tilted stage #and by the end she's in the empty chair. I have Emotions about theater #my two years of prop work experience is coming back to me fskjdfhkdsj #I did have that to thank for a Lot of how I do my comic stuff tbh so! I think this is good. this is probably good
