Himiko died from a blood transfusion. Horikoshi probably thinks he cooked up a beautiful metaphor that's coherent with her storyline because taking and giving and that's why in this in case blood and its loss/acquisition holds narrative weight when in other subplots you see mfs surviving every deadly injury possible and blah blah blah but what we are effectively left with is a queer girl choosing death because she doesn't want to live through scorn and rejection anymore

Ochako didn't accomplish anything and the only "major" Ws she ever got are all Izuku related. She doesn't get to move on from the frustration of not having been able to save Nighteye, she doesn't get to share her blood with Himiko for the rest of their lives as she wanted to (= actual working metaphor for salvation and acceptance), she doesn't get to be important for any fellow hero other than Izuku
