Digital diary 2024.12.13.
I didn't have a nightmare like yesterday. I did watched Tyler Perry's Young Dylan Christmas episode. I was pleasantly surprised by it. I helped my dad with screwing the new door handles on the kitchen cupboard doors. I wanted to help him redesigning the doors to but, he made cry. I feel like i was not good enough to be a decorator. I will organise and write today and tomorrow i will have English class.
Feeling: Busy 😣

It's karaoke night. What songs do you think each of the hacketteers would sing?
I love this ask and I spent entirely too long thinking about it! Thank you!
Nick: “American Girl” - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He’ll dedicate this one to Abi and play a whole lot of clumsy but enthusiastic air guitar during the instrumental breaks. He’ll also do really on-the-nose inside joke choices like “Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon (he'll change 'London' to 'Melbourne' because he's really lame) or “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” by Great White.
Emma: “Style” - Taylor Swift. She just reads as a Taylor girlie to me and this one’s a classic. She could do "We Are Never Getting Back Together" but Jacob might cry. So, "Style" it is. Not too tough in range and it doesn’t require her to do the cringey rap-talking part she’d have to do if she picked “Shake It Off” (although that one would also be fun and maybe if Abi gets drunk enough she’ll join Emma onstage and do that part for her).
Jacob: he wants to pick “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey but it has been banned because basic bitches like him just keep singing it. If he’s still moping about Emma, he might choose “Somebody to Love” by Queen. If someone else gets to it first, then it’s The Killers' “Mr. Brightside” all the way until the bar bans that one too.
Kaitlyn: she almost always picks a song you can scream-sing to. She has some rage to get out, okay? Her go-to is either "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" by Joan Jett or "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette. If you get enough alcohol in her for her to get in her feelings though, she might do Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart," as a treat.
Laura: "Dog Days are Over" - Florence + The Machine. Is that another werewolf joke? Yes, yes it is. She can't help being overjoyed to say goodbye to the (meat)dog days. She'd probably also absolutely crush "Help I'm Alive" by Metric.
Max: I will never recover from the post that said Max and Dylan would know every step from the JustDance version of “Rasputin” by Boney M (which I think is completely correct) so I’m picking that one for Max. However, if he gets a second song or he’s feeling extremely sentimental, he might do the Michael Bublé version of “L.O.V.E.” for Laura.
Abi: I think Abi's actual musical listening tastes might be a little moodier than this, but for karaoke she wants it light and easy, and it doesn't get much lighter or easier than ABBA. "Dancing Queen" or "Mamma Mia." She'd really like it if Emma would come sing backup for her so she doesn't have to go up by herself.
Dylan: He never does the same song twice; he wants everyone to be surprised every time. He's done Lady Gaga's "Poker Face. He's done "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" by Panic! At the Disco." He's done Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream." Tonight, it's "Still Into You" by Paramore.
Ryan: He can't believe he got talked into this. Ryan hates attention and doesn't really love the sound of his own voice. He would prefer to sit quietly and watch everyone else perform. Beer won't be enough, Ryan will have to drink an entire pitcher of LITs to be drunk enough to sing. Then he will sing "Love You Madly" by CAKE and absolutely slay. Dylan will be facedown on their table pretending to have fainted when he gets back.
Bonus: Duets!
Laura and Max have perfected their version of “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by Elton John and Kiki Dee. You should really see it. There’s choreo and everything.
Jacob and Kaitlyn will sing "I Believe in A Thing Called Love" by The Darkness. Nobody knows why. Neither of them has the upper range to pull it off and they know it. It's awful. They're just screeching. Ryan has to go outside until they're finished. His nerves can't take it. They have fun though.
Dylan would really like Ryan to duet with him on Peter Bjorn and John's "Young Folks," he'll even do the girl parts and the whistling! But Ryan's one and done at karaoke, and even that is asking a lot. Instead, Dylan and Nick duet The Proclaimers' "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" in absurd and potentially offensive Scottish accents.
Emma and Abi end up duetting half the time when they're supposed to be doing their own songs anyway, especially when it's Abi's turn! Somehow Emma just ends up there too. But they do "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper together with some frequency and they're great at it.
Bonus 2: Group Number!
You already know what it is. You know what's coming. You get it stuck in your head every time you play the damn game (don't you? I know it's not just me.) How could they not all sing Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" together? Of course they do.

No thoughts, only Zoé explaining how Nickelodeon live action shows take place in the same universe, and totally not me desperately needing to get this out there because this has been bugging me
Zoé: ICARLY IS A SHOW! NOTHING MORE! GAME SHAKERS PROVED THAT TO BE TRUE! And, in the Nickelodeon universe, superheroes, supervillains, and ghosts exist!
Denise: Ghosts?
Zoé: Haunted Hathaways did a crossover with The Thundermans, who did a crossover with Henry Danger, who did a crossover with Game Shakers, who did a crossover with iCarly actor Nathan Kress! And, according to this chart, VicTORIous is ALSO a show! None of the characters are real, because they did a crossover with iCarly, making them only a show in the Nickelodeon universe! Now, if you’ll look right here-
Ismael: I forgot, I had a… A thing-
Zoé: SIT DOWN, ISMAEL!
Ismael: Okay. *Sits back down*
Zoé: HOWEVER! If we remember the shortly aired show, Sam & Cat, Double G’s assitant, Bunny, was also in the show, the show that is a show in the Nickelodeon universe! How is that possible you may be wondering?
Marc: I’m really not.
Zoé: Allow me to explain! Bunny was spotted on the show Double G, and he immediately wanted him as his assistant! It makes logical sense!
Simon: … Of course it does. Now, let’s just-
Zoé: HOWEVER!
Simon: Shite.
Zoé: As seen in the Nicky Ricky Dicky and Dawn special, Go Hollywood, The Thundermans is a TV show as revealed in said special, when Jack Griffo guest starred as himself, as the actor for Max Thunderman. So what does that mean?!
Denise: … That-
Zoé: That Nicky Ricky Dicky and Dawn is the only Nickelodeon show whose characters are real, and all else within the Thunderverse™️, is just a show within a show! As is 100 Things To Do Before High School! CJ Martin is watching an episode in the episode, "Find Your Super Power Thing!” Making that show not a show within a show!
Cosette: Zoé, breathe-
Zoé: I am breathing! Big Time Rush and Marvin Marvin! Crossover! And Big Time Rush also did did a crossover with Patchy the Pirate from SpongeBob SquarePants! What exactly does that mean?!
Lacey: That-
Zoé: The Fairly Odd Parents it’s nothing more than a show in the Big Time Rushverse! Now we’re on the same page! It’s all coming together! Not only that, but they did a crossover with How To Rock, meaning aliens exist in that universe! But where exactly do they fit in within the Thunderverse? Are they also just shows, or real people like Nicky Ricky Dicky and Dawn? Stay seated, while I look through my notes!
Jean: We’re never getting out of here!
Aurore: And we can’t sneak away; she’s tracking our phones.
Mireille: I really have to use the bathroom.
Zoé: Kenan and Kel! Also only a show as evidence by Kenan appearing on VicTORIous as himself! And Knight Squad! How could I forget?! Also only a show due to the crossover with Henry Danger! Speaking of, if we go back to the Thunderverse in regards of That Girl Lay Lay and Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan, also only shows within shows due to their crossover with Danger Force! And this makes Warped and Side Hustle also shows within shows watched by people from the Nicky Ricky Dicky and Dawnverse!

Jermaine Dupri Curious Over Oversight Of Artist Young Dylan
In hip hop, there are producers, and then there are super producers, and Jermaine Dupri falls into the latter camp. However, on May 11th, Dupri, who is known for nurturing some of the best talents in the industry, became the highlight of public discourse. The super producer is a bit curious and seriously trying to understand the lack of proper coverage and promotion of hip-hop artist Young Dylan by major hip-hop outlets. Who is Young Dylan Young Dylan is an overtly talented young artist who has built an impressive industry presence in music and television. Dylan is also an artist that falls under Dupri's prevue. While it is more than expected for talent cultivators to push and promote their artists, Dupri's recent arguments have a depth that goes beyond seeking promotion. And here's why. Dylan began building his public persona at 10. The young aspirant hip hop artist showed his love for the craft on one of the premiere talent show showcases on television, "America's Got Talent." He more than won over the crowd with his impressive rendition of Kendrick Lamar's Be Humble. He was a star in the making, proud, assured, and obviously a hip-hop head. His aptitude and skill for the art form did not go without recognition, even at his young and tender age. https://youtu.be/m46g3Q5GWEk In fact, his presence and skill were so absolute that it led to a feature role in a 2020 series appropriately named after him "Young Dylan." Young Dylan Featured Headliner "Young Dylan" was a show that, as most might guess, reflected the young artist's life. The inspired mogul, writer, and film director Tyler Perry wrote the series. And it focused on a young hip-hop artist trying to make it in the industry. Many of the episodes also served as a showcase of the headliner's talent. https://youtu.be/3PbxbXAXIJQ However, being a Nickelodeon series, it was, of course, geared to younger audiences. But the fan base was undeniable. The show's success, much of which is because of Dylan's role, was underscored by consistent renewals up to a fourth season. Even still, the young artist is putting his passion into crafting his art outside of the Nickelodeon series. https://youtu.be/cGaLenhZXjc So, the question for Dupri became, with Dylan's success and recognized talent in the public medium, why aren't hip-hop outlets providing more coverage? Dissecting Jermaine Dupri's Argument Dupri makes a solid argument. It is apparent that Dylan is more than talented, and his hip-hop roots and endeavors in the industry do not differ from other artists. Dylan is the exact representation of what hip-hop is about, unique expressionism and lyrical presentation through rhythmic flow. And as Dupri expressed in a recent interview, "He thought it [hip-hop} was a young man's game." That is a solid premise. Meaning, aren't up-and-coming artists deemed the future of the culture, movement, and art form? Weren't these young aspirants supposed to be the focus? After all, these torchbearers are what it's all about, aren't they? So, what's the deal with the lack of proper coverage? And Dupri called out specific outlets noting their direct oversite. His statement indicated, "If it's a young man's game, then why hasn't — you know if it is and all these different sites claim—like “AllHipHop,” they claim it's all Hip Hop. But they ain't posted a Dylan record. “The Source” is supposed to be the source of Hip Hop. They ain't talked about the Dylan project." And that is indeed valid and interesting. An Unacknowledged Driver There is much to digest here. Dupri's recognition of the oversight highlights a looming question pervasive in the industry. And the super producer and talent cultivator is not far from his analysis and theoretical rationale for undergirding such decisions, which he fleshes out through inquiry later in his discourse. He poses this very telling question regarding Young Dylan and another such artist. It's a young artist trying to rap in the rap game, and these outlets claim they cover all Hip Hop; so I'm like, 'rappers that start at 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 years old—is that not considered real rap in the rap world?' Dupris Bullseye Assessment Therein lies the issue, one that is known but only sometimes highlighted. It's the ever-looming question of legitimacy, what that criterion is, and who decides such. Undoubtedly, several factors, some of which are prejudicial, drive the conversation of what is authentic hip-hop and who is acknowledged as a genuine artist of such. Unfortunately, this sentiment carries over even to the point of impacting who and what major publications cover. It's not necessarily an age thing, as young artists such as Bow Wow have received more than their share of publicity even at a very young age. https://youtu.be/RzRgScHpMGg The lack of promotion that Young Dylan has received is likely multifaceted. As Dupri also pointed out, he's been clued into the fact that maybe he's just not that good. The producer's response was one of acknowledgment. Okay, preference is understandable, but what does that have to do with the promotion of a young artist embracing hip-hop and trying to make it in the industry? No, denying that's an interesting perspective, and inquiring minds do seek clarification for better understanding. In Conclusion Dylan is hands down a great asset and credit to the industry. While all may not vibe with him, there are those out there who do. So why hasn't he gotten the same shine as most is an interesting question, and it's one everyone would like answered. The public may get that answer, and they may not. But regardless, FM Hip Hop celebrates all that Young Dylan is, all he has done, what he is doing, and what he will bring to hip-hop. And good on Jermaine Dupri for bringing to light something that needs addressing in the community. Written by: Renae Richardson Read the full article

Those forced "That Girl Lay Lay" cameos on other Nick shows like Danger Force and Young Dylan (plus that Worlds Collide crossover) are very amusing to me because, in Latin America, Lay Lay came out as a NETFLIX original while the others mentioned are still being broadcast on TV.
So when Lay Lay appears either on Danger Force or Young Dylan, here it just looks like they're promoting a random Netflix show instead
Same when Dylan guest stars on Lay Lay's show, it's like this Netflix show promoting a Nick show lmao
#Danger Force#That Girl Lay Lay#Tyler Perry's Young Dylan#Nickelodeon#Netflix#it's a mess#i have no effing clue as to why Lay Lay went straight to Netflix here#it just made everything confusing
