     "i know." the words leave her with BARELY a breath -- they're whispered as quietly as possible while rey holds herself still. she doesn't dare exhale, too afraid that the slightest shift in movement will give their position away.

of course she knows what's at stake. rey's well aware that she dragged una off on this mission, that she'll be RESPONSIBLE if anything goes wrong. this is what happens when you leave without clearance: you get TRAPPED on a star destroyer, no backup to be found. they have to be successful. it's the only thing that will save her from a relentless scolding for rushing off unapproved.

there's a moment that feels like an eternity before the marching footsteps of the stormtroopers in the corridor fade. rey waits, letting the silence stretch. finally, she straightens from where she'd been crouched behind a wall of cargo. "come on. we need to get to the engine room. we'll set these charges and be gone before anyone ever knows we were here. I PROMISE."
