2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

hmm... i love a lot of things about kairi, in spite of how much she gets done dirty by the writing, but i guess my favorite thing would be the way that she's stubborn, determined, and brave even to the point of recklessness sometimes. she hates always being left behind and feeling like there's nothing she can do to protect her friends, but when she does see an opportunity she takes it. she knows sora so well that she recognizes him even as a heartless, and rushes to embrace him despite how risky that could be. she runs into a corridor of darkness, when she doesn't even know where it might take her, she doesn't even have a weapon or a keyblade yet, but clearly the people she loves most are in trouble, so she has to try to fight for them. she finally finds sora and the first thing she does is this:

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

is it cheating to pick something that's literally just the writing's fault? because truly my first thought here was that i hate how in kh3, they put her (and axel!) in this special world where time doesn't pass so they can train with merlin as long as they need to and then when the big battle comes she's fucking. still not good enough somehow. i have talked to multiple people about this over the years, asked them all to correct me if i misunderstood something, but we all came to the same conclusion that this plot point literally made no sense. and it fucked axel over too, but as much as i also love him i don't care as much about him getting fucked over when he's had so much more time to shine than kairi has. so i guess what it boils down to is that my least favorite thing about kairi is just the fact that she was introduced as part of the series' main trio with sora and riku but she's the one who's been consistently cheated out of screentime and development for over 20 years.

Hi, Rosalind! Yess, that is a 10/10 trope. I feel like I read a fic like that for Jason once, but honestly, I can't remember, and I may have made it up.

AK!Jason is pretty resistant to drugs (for all the sad reasons), but under anesthesia, he's still gonna get a little loopy and lose his filter. I feel like he would be asking for a lot of reassurances, ie; "Are you sure we're together?"

He's also going to be insistent that you stay in his sight, let him hold your wrist, etc. He's gotta make sure you're real, after all.

But then he'll catch you off guard, smile big and wide like nothing has changed since when he was a boy, and he'll tell you you're the most perfect thing he's ever seen and he's really glad you're wearing his ring. He won't remember any of it, ofc, but that doesn't mean he meant it any less.

you're 100% correct, he is a mascot! which is why this is going to sound incredibly stupid, but my self insert... is a self insert. in-universe. he's a character some dude made up to pair himself with vault boy, IN the fallout universe, LMAO. my self insert is just as much of a cartoon character as vault boy is. XD

I keep the identity of my Normal Real Insert Who Fell So In Love With Vault Boy That He Decided To Draw Himself With Him anonymous because I don't care too much. who knows? maybe he's dead. maybe he came up with the character BEFORE the bombs dropped and hasn't been alive for years. but one thing is for sure... his funny little self insert cartoon lives on and still kisses vault boy to this day

(for this ask game, which i wouldn't mind still getting asks for even though i'm trying to take a bit of a break from being on here too much)

so, ever since i was a kid i kind of shipped alice with peter pan, even before i knew what a crossover ship was... at the time i just thought she'd like peter more than wendy did lol. but when i really think about it i also feel like she'd like neverland itself more than she liked wonderland, because her journey through wonderland made her realize that the nonsensical world she thought she wanted was actually just disorienting and frustrating to her. but since neverland is still fantastical and magical without being so illogical and inconsistent, i think she'd be able to have a lot more fun there. so i'd put her in disney's peter pan!

for something a little different than another disney movie, though, i'd put alice in the discworld books. i don't know if you're familiar with them or not, but i think it'd be fun to see her hang out with the witches and be mentored by granny weatherwax alongside tiffany aching, who's around her age.

hiii bones i desperately need to know more about the time seb and cassidy got chased by the NCPD and then hit by a car in front of the hospital i'm sorry i ended up getting obsessed with a small detail

HIII RENA THANK YOU SO MUCH it's honestly one of my favorite encounters of them all 😭 for context, there's a total of 28 encounters between january 2077 and december 2077; this encounter is the 13th encounter and it happens in the end of june 2077 (which, if you're interested, lines up with the in-game events in my canon with vincent and would happen around the same time of the parade; so while all of that serious business is going on you got these two clowns getting hit by a car SBHGFDJGDFJGD)

basically what happens is that for once, cassidy is not out to kill seb; he's having a moment in a bar and seb happens to show up at the exact same place, then believes that cassidy did in fact show up there to kill him (which usually is indeed the case) and this prompts a fight between the two which ends up escalating rather quickly into a full-blown bar fight. fun!

that is until the ncpd shows up and starts to arrest people left and right but naturally so, since this is night city, the cops end up getting dragged into the bar fight as well. at some point seb and cassidy manage to stumble out of the bar (well. one of them gets flung through the window and the other stumbles out of the bar) and one of the few still standing cops in the midst of the chaos and panic ends up arresting them?? sort of??? but also needs to call for reinforcements and he ends up just. handcuffing them together. oops

and then they need to run the fuck away from the cops because cassidy is wanted dead or alive by maxtac and kang tao and lowkey militech as well and seb is wanted very much dead by arasaka so if either of them were to get captured by the ncpd they'd be in a bit of a pickle. a big one

so! cue to a chase scene through night city (i feel like it's important to mention once more that seb is 1.99m tall with silvery gray hair that stands out in a crowd and cassidy is 2.01m tall with peach pink hair that. you guessed it. stands out in a crowd) in which they're mostly trying to outrun several ncpd vehicles but also around every corner they try to kill each other. while still being handcuffed together. on more than one occasion they would also end up falling into each other's arms and touching hands and all the other gay shit you'd expect from me and andy in our writing but that's not important right now

the chase ends pretty abruptly when they've managed to outrun the ncpd but they're still trying to fuck each other up which results in them running into traffic and then getting hit by a fucking car right at the entrance of the hospital =D obviously the driver is very worried and checks them in at the hospital so they can get looked at. they're still handcuffed together. no one questions it it's night city. they're now stuck in a waiting room for about 45 minutes with crying children, arguing couples, staring elderly people, etc etc, WHILE handcuffed to their arch nemesis. and they can't even kill each other about it

as funny as this whole idea is, the scene ends with them outside the hospital and amanda (seb's best friend and another member of the cobras, his gang) unlocks the handcuffs for them. and cassidy makes eye contact with seb very briefly. and then starts walking backwards and quickly turns around and leaves. and that's where it ends

because despite the fact that yes he does really need to kill this man, at that point it's become much more than just that contract that he signed with his mysterious client. with both seb and cassidy the other is fascinating to them and it's kind of become a game; they're each other's equal in combat which has RARELY happened before, it's kind of like enrichment?? obviously it's also infuriating and they're both going insane but at the same time it would by then have become something that they both rely on. creating intricate rituals to be close to another man etc etc

it's kind of like. violence as a love language honestly. like knowing what the future holds for them and all this is just. slowly but surely transforming into something entirely else than just two guys trying to kill each other because they both know that it's never gonna happen. they know the other isn't gonna kill them and they know they'll never be able to kill the other so really what does that all mean then? what's left? they could easily stop but that would mean they won't ever see each other again because well they're enemies. they can't suddenly become friends. they're both just kind of. waiting i guess?? to see where it goes. because maybe one day things will be different... not that they would ever admit to anyone let alone themselves that they would like for things to be different but like. it's about the subconscious yearning of it all. do you see the vision

anyway this got very long but i could've gone on for longer because. as you could probably guess. andy and i wrote out shit like this for every single encounter SBHGJMKFDGBFDJGKDF and then!!!! we have entire LISTS of jobs and targets for the later eras (this here is what we call killing era on account of the. well. there's a significant lack of killing but it's about the attempts i guess) with again. so much detail. THERE'S JUST SO MUCH WE HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY

I've been seeing a couple of monster!Jason and reader, with reader still loving him no matter what.

Look, I'm not sure if this has been done before, but I'm offering this: Monster! reader and Jason Todd.

It's not really a request, I'm just sharing a little bit of a brainrot that I got somewhere while reading a couple of your fics. Sorry if this is too long, you don't have to read all of this.

So in the interval where Jason died - came back as Red Hood, reader was either a vigilante or a scientist working on a project that should have the security system updated or something. An accident happens and reader transforms into a mostly mindless beast that drives on instinct.

I'm saying mostly, because they can still recognize some faces or are aware of their situation to a certain extent but they can't really do anything to stop it.

So when Jason comes back as Red Hood and suddenly finds out his crush/ significant other got turned into a monster, the first thing he does is searching for you (if you aren't already confined in a prison or used as some kind of guard dog, this is Gotham, I can actually picture one of the rogues - mob bosses doing something like that). Jason takes off the helmet (after making sure no one is watching) hoping that reader could somehow recognize him and surprise, surprise, they do. Like, they are going full blown attack and suddenly freeze last second, recognizing the boy they always loved, changed, yet the same at the same time.

So monster!reader becomes tame at the presence of Jason, almost like a puppy or a very affectionate housecat while Jason takes care of reader while searching for a way to cure them and bring them back to their original form while also pampering them as best as they can.

I'm mostly picturing this out with werewolf!reader, but hell, I feel reader can be an eldritch horror abomination and still be all soft with Jason. I mean who wouldn't.

Nonnie, pleassse, you never have to apologize for length or asks like this because I always adore seeing everyone's ideas. And this one is just fantastic!! Seriously, I love the idea of Jason seeing past the appearance of a 'monster', the same way you would for him!

Off the top of my head, @/sanguineterrain has something vaugley like this called Angel of Small Death, where the reader is a shadow monster! I literally want to sink my teeth into that fic every time I think about it. (If you're looking for a fic rec)

Now, I'm actually going crazy at the idea that maybe you got a little too involved in your lab project, and something goes wrong, and you're more or less in a ManBat situation. Being the equivalent of a werewolf is hard, and you're mostly focused on food, staying warm, and plain survival.

If you end up sinking your teeth into a few goons with less than pure intentions of getting you under their bosses control, you don't think anyone can blame you. You're not sure how long you've been like this now, really, could be days, could be years. You mostly stick to alleys, the docks, and the sewers if you have to, even if the smell hurts you sharpened senses.

But it's your heightened smell that shakes your usually cloudy and reactive mind. Not even your tendency to act more wolf than person can keep you from recognizing Jason, even under the new, shiny helmet. He takes it off any way, ever cautious, and offers you food, water. But he didn't need to do any of that to get you to follow him to his base.

Red Hood 'taming' the Wolf of Gotham is feat that sends shock waves through the cites underbelly. But Jason, for his part, could care less about what people think of it. His one priority when it comes to you is to help you get back to yourself. (And if he needs to hand scrub your fur, file your claws, and wash you down with a hose, he will, in fact, do that)

And it turns out you are a very good guard dog! You chase off Batman, snarl at and attack the assassins Black Mask hires and rehires. But you're an even better lap dog, especially when Red Hood scratches your ears just right. Being a wolf is still hard, but at least you have someone who really cares about you to see you through it.

(Jason does believe in letting pets/friends turned into werewolves sleep on the bed. Even if you'll be embarrassed about it once he finds a way to turn you human again)
