Summary: As he turns, the crowd seems to part in front of him like the parting of the red sea. There are bodies everywhere, but somehow he has a clear path all the way to where she is sitting. Betty Cooper. It has been seven years, but somehow there mere sight of her knocks the breath out of him.

Jughead sees Betty again for the first time post time-jump.

A/N: So for ‘travel’ which was actaully the first idea that I had and was my main inspiration for the songs as titles. BTW, one scene was inspired from Bridgerton so yeah XD. Also, I might have made a cameo to Clover’s great grandparents.

Characters featured: Victoria Summer belongs to the amazing @whatwouldvalerydo​, Victoria was a sweetheart to work with compared to Winona.

The sound of seagulls soaring above their heads as the sun rises in its glory above the waters. Despite the cool breeze from the Atlantic Ocean, the two women were warmed by their thick shawls. 

“Oh look, Victoria! There are dolphins!” Winona pointed over the railings. Her dear friend, Victoria Summer, was a little reluctant to look over from the vast height but smiled when she did see the grey leaping figures in and out of the water. “I see them; they’re absolutely gorgeous.” 

“Look at that one leaping.” A particularly large dolphin jumped high above the dark water. 

Both women had always wanted a ladies' trip to America. Lucky for them, Winona had a widowed great aunt who agreed to be their guardian during their stay. Though Nolan, Winona's sweetheart, Glenn, her brother, and Oliver, Victoria’s sweetheart, had argued that they should join as chaperones. Winona knew Glenn only would join to keep an eye out on Nolan. Oliver was concerned about them travelling alone; however, they reassured him it would be fine if they stuck together. 

Winona was the one to suggest travelling via an ocean liner. It was a muggle invention; however, a muggleborn wizard felt that wizards and witches should have their version too, but naturally more magically advanced. They were on the SS Kelpie Tempest, sailing first class. Even though they had only stayed for a day so far, the experience was ravishing. Separate bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms for both girls and house elves to cater to their needs. They were also accommodated with a sitting room and a viewing deck. 

Later, Victoria and Winona got dressed and ready for dinner that evening. Winona, as per usual, ditched the corset to remain comfortable, especially at meal times. She felt it was always a hassle to put on the undergarments before tying, buttoning, or even sewing into the outer garments. Though tonight, Winona was in the mood to make an effort with her appearance. Victoria helped pick a royal blue silk dress that twinkled like the night stars from every angle for Winona to wear. At the same time, Victoria herself went for a gorgeous velvet red dress with roses embroidered on it. 

“Vicky?” Winona walked over to the vanity, “I need help buttoning up my dress.”

“I can help you with that,” She placed her ivory brush down before coming to Winona's aid. 

“Thank you, do you want me to do your hair?” Winona offered.

“That would be lovely, thank you.”

Winona twisted and twirled her hair into a half-up to still display the gorgeous chocolate brown curls. 

“Oliver doesn’t know how lucky he is,” Winona said as she placed in hairpins. 

Victoria shook her head, “he doesn’t realise how lucky I am to have him.”

Once brushed, powdered, and finished off with a spray of one of Victoria’s perfumes, the two young ladies head off for dinner. Arm linked, they went inside the panelled dining room looking for their table. Near their table was a couple; the man looked familiar. His grey eyes and dark hair to his straighten and awkward posture. Winona realised who it was. It was Horace Sweets, a family friend. Last she heard from him was that he had gotten married recently. She presumed the young blonde woman who looked around her age next to him was his new wife. 

“Mr Sweets?” Winona gently tapped his shoulder. He was a little alarmed by her sudden appearance. 

“Winona? My goodness, how you have grown.” Horace was never one for hugs, so they shook hands instead. “May I introduce you to my wife, Priscilla.”

“Hello, it’s lovely to meet you, Priscilla. I am Winona Rosewood, and this is my girlfriend, Victoria Summers.” Winona pulled Victoria Summers closer, “It’s lovely to meet you both.”

They ended up joining dinner together. Winona explained how Horace and her father became good friends. Their friendship was controversial as many in the American old money scene view Horace Sweets as a social climber despite having worked hard. Winona and Victoria found Priscilla to be pleasant and very conversational to be around. Horace excused himself to his cabin while Priscilla stayed.

“If you ladies are not planning on retiring early,” Priscilla glanced over where her husband had left. “Would you like to join me and other ladies to a ladies' night in a private sitting room?”

Winona gave a knowing smirk over to Victoria, the one that usually made her afraid that Winona would follow her natural curiosity. Since Winona was familiar with her husband, Victoria figured it would be safe to join them and ensure that Winona doesn’t get into trouble.

“We would love to join you,” Winona replied. 

Priscilla guided them through the ship's upper decks to a closed room. It was already filled with other ladies. Some faces she recalled being around the boat. They were drinking and laughing to their heart's content. Some ladies were playing poker and smoking like gentlemen. Priscilla guided them to a table with a young lady sitting by herself. She was about the same age as them.  

“Kitty, I have brought some guests with us.” Priscilla made formal introductions to each other before being seated at the table. Winona saw cards placed on the table. 

“How lovely, would you ladies care for a round of draw poker?” Kitty drawled out her words with a distinct Southern accent. 

“Draw poker?” Victoria questioned, looking a little worried. She leaned to whisper to Winona, “Are you sure it is safe to just gamble?”

“If you’re worried about money then I’ve got you covered,” she whispered back. Winona nudged her playfully, “besides this trip to New York is all about having some fun.”

“I guess so,” Victoria hesitated but sat down nonetheless. Kitty and Priscilla smiled as the other ladies chattered behind them. 

“Great, let me explain the rules,” Kitty started.

“I can’t believe I lost five hundred dragot,” Winona whined as they entered Victoria’s bed-chamber. “Father is going to kill me.”

“I can’t believe I actually won,” Victoria said in a mild state of shock.

“Probably beginner’s luck.”

“Probably…” She trailed, “But that’s money I can exchange and put into my new line.”

“I think that is deserving of a celebration for you.”

Winona set up the gramophone from her room in Victoria’s.  

“What are you doing, Nona?” Victoria giggled 

“Celebrating with a dance party, don’t you think?” Winona pulled Victoria in. As much as Victoria wanted to sigh about Winona’s impulsiveness that led to trouble, though, she always made it seem slightly appealing, only ever so slightly. Victoria joined in with Winona’s celebration by dancing into the early morning until both passed out exhausted from the night.

1,500 Followers Challenge!

The Title/Trope Challenge!

Again, thank you all for all your support!  You are all amazing and I truly cannot thank you enough for helping me get this far.  It’s certainly a milestone that I never thought I’d see.

Straight to the challenge!

Basic rules apply ~ there are 30 songs and 30 quotes posted below, pick one from your fandom with your character.  This will be open for a while as 2 requests per song/quote.  The only rule is here is, is that the requests cannot be from the same fandom.  I will try and keep the lists as updated as I can to try and avoid cross overs!

The extra - This time around, send me either a title and/or a trope to base to the fic on.  They can be as weird and wonderful as you want, or something simple.  In your ask, just specify which you are sending me and I’ll do the rest from there!

Titling fics with song lyrics is fun. I come home in the morning light particularly makes me smile because along with sounding softly poetic, tying into the themes of Tim’s home changing over the course of the story, him gaining a person to be home, and the very literal idea that vigilantes with a long night patrol will in fact be coming home in the first rays of morning light...

This is the fic where Tim becomes Batgirl.

And the title is the opening line of Cyndi Lauper’s hit bop Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun.

I’ve made a playlist of songs that are inspiring my forthcoming Yu Yu Hakusho “Ghost Story” fic (which still doesn’t have a proper title). which now has a proper title: “The Ghost in You.” 

On the playlist you’ll see peppy 80s pop music mixed with darker tracks, because while this IS a ghost story, the ghost in question is...not your typical ghost.

The stand-out tracks, here, are “Daughter,” “Obsession,” “and “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” A lot of these songs, despite being pretty, give me UNPLEASANT CHILLS because of how they relate to the story itself. I’m excited to have a playlist set up; thanks for reading/listening!

New This Week: Fergie, the Killers, Macklemore, and more

Searching for something to listen to this weekend? Yahoo Music has you covered with a rundown of some of this week’s biggest and buzzing releases, including Fergie, the Killers, Macklemore, and more. Check back every Friday for a fresh list of albums to help fuel your weekend playlists.

Fergie: Double Dutchess (Dutchess Music/BMG Rights Management). This marks the singer’s first full-length solo effort in 11 years, and she’s going all out. The set features collaborations with YG, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and even her young son Axl.

The Killers: Wonderful Wonderful (Island). Much of the band may be sitting out their forthcoming tour, but they’re all on the group’s latest album, introduced first by the edgy dance track “The Man.” It also includes the boxing throwback “Tyson vs. Douglas.”

Macklemore: Gemini (Bendo). The rapper became a household name with producer Ryan Lewis, but now he’s going solo. However, he gets plenty of help from a slew of other collaborators, including Skylar Grey, Lil Yachty, Kesha, and King Draino.

Leon Russell: On a Distant Shore (Palmetto+/MRI). This posthumous release has the legend revisiting such classics as “A Song for You,” “Hummingbird,” and “This Masquerade,” as well as serving up less familiar tunes, such as the emotional “Just Leaves and Grass.”

Van Morrison: Roll With the Punches (Exile). The iconic singer’s 37th album focuses on covers of blues and soul classics, with a few original songs thrown in for good measure. Guests include Chris Farlowe, Georgie Fame, Jeff Beck, Paul Jones, and Jason Rebello.

The Horrors: V (Wolftone/Caroline International). The dreamy British rockers get down with noted producer Paul Epworth for their aptly titled fifth album. A standout is the Krautrock-inspired “Machine.”

Mastodon: Cold Dark Place (Reprise). Fans of Mastodon will be delighted with their latest offering, which serves as yet another chapter in its continuous and reliable sound evolution.

Ledisi: Let Love Rule (Verve). Ledisi’s ninth album shows off her intense voice on a series of classic R&B songs. Helping things along are guest appearances from John Legend, Kirk Franklin, BJ the Chicago Kid, Sebastian Kole, DJ Camper, and DJ Khalil.

Haley Reinhart: What’s That Sound? (Concord). Reinnart tackles covers of 1960s classics by such artists as Jefferson Airplane, the Box Tops, and Nancy Sinatra, adding three original songs to the mix.

Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers: The Long-Awaited Album (Rounder). Fans of Martin know that not only is he a talented actor, he’s a well-heeled banjo player too. This record shows off his ability to tell a variety of stories via song and a lot of twang.

Bill Murray, Jan Vogler and Friends: New Worlds (Decca Gold). Murray brings his humor to a variety of songs by Foster, Gershwin, and Bernstein; as well as readings of classic American poetry and prose by Whitman, Hemingway, Twain and others. He’s accompanied by cellist Vogler.

Lee “Scratch” Perry + Subatomic Sound System: Super Ape Returns to Conquer (Subatomic Sound). Check out this groovy remake of Perry’s 1976 album Super Ape, featuring guests Jahdan Blakkamoore, Screechy Dan, and Ari Up.

Marc Almond: Shadows and Reflections (BMG Rights Management). Almond’s latest includes songs written or recorded by artists such as Burt Bacharach, The Action, the Yardbirds, Bobby Darin, Julie Driscoll, Billy Fury, and the Young Rascals; plus a pair of original compositions.

Stephen Stills & Judy Collins: Everybody Knows (Wildflower/Cleopatra). This marks the very first collaborative album in these two artist’s 50-year friendship; it features a variety of covers and an original song, “River of Gold.”

Lecrae: All Things Work Together (Reach/Columbia). This thoughtful, introspective release explores hope and reconciliation; guests include Tori Kelly, Ty Dolla $ign, Aha Gazelle, 1K Phew, Verse Simmonds, Kierra Sheard, and Jawan Harris.

Cradle of Filth: Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness of Decay (Nuclear Blast). Extreme metal meets horror meets pure Victorian gothic vibes in the latest from this English band.

Midland: On the Rocks (Big Machine). The Texas country trio serves up a debut that includes co-writes with Rhett Akins, Josh Osborne, Shane McAnally, and others. The album’s first single, “Drinkin’ Problem,” is doing a brisk business on the country singles chart.

Tricky: ununiform (False Idols/!K7). Tricky trips out on his intricate 13th set with a variety of guests including Martina Topley-Bird, Mina Rose, Smoky Mo, Asia Argento, and Francesca Belmonte.

Lights: Skin&Earth (Warner). The Canadian singer’s fourth record is a personal, open work traversing some untraveled subject matter, fueled along by help from Corin Roddick of Purity Ring, Big Data and Josh Dun of twenty one pilots.

Chris Hillman: Bidin’ My Time (Rounder). Produced by Tom Petty, the latest from the legendary Byrd co-founder includes guests appearances from Petty, David Crosby, Roger McGuinn, Benmont Tench, Steve Ferrone, John Jorgenson, and others.

The Bronx: (V) (ATO). The L.A. punk band remains as angsty and aggressive as ever on its fifth album, which is filled with biting social commentary and a hefty dose of rage.

The Clientele: Music for the Age of Miracles (Merge). This marks the band’s first release of new music since 2010’s Minotaur EP; it’s filled with lush choral harmonies and poetic lyrical matter, with the end result being a very emotional set overall.

Cut Copy: Haiku from Zero (Astralwerks). It’s been four years since we’ve heard from Cut Copy; the latest album being a delightfully complex and diverse blend of genre play.

Tino Drima: Her Kind of Man (Friendship Fever). Indie rock genre hoppers Tino Drima take a unique punk-inflected approach and mix it up with big-band doo-wop. Sound intriguing? It’s all brought together with frontman Gregory DiMartino’s flexible vocals, which range from a howl to a croon.

SpongeBob SquarePants, The New Musical (Original Cast Recording) (Masterworks Broadway). This powerhouse of a soundtrack features original songs by David Bowie, Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, the Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, and They Might Be Giants.
