Can you guys imagine season 4 or 5 Mulder and Scully watching Buffy the vampire slayer? It came out in 1997 and I’m doing a rewatch of Buffy right now and all I can think is that it is right up Mulder’s alley and that Scully would love Willow. It might’ve been a comfort show for them especially during cancer arc. Maybe Scully has a particularly bad headache and Mulder insists he takes her home. He closes all the blinds for her and turns the tv on low while they sit on the coach together because she insists she doesn’t need to go to bed and slowly, as the headache ebbs, Scully and Mulder end up tucked together on the couch. They’re spooning like little baby cats and then the first episode of Buffy comes on and they just get sucked in. Mulder calls her when he sees the next episode is on and invites her over and it because a ritual for them.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yes and no. Not like I should. I am so deeply, truly grateful for every single one.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Well, I killed William in Inhaling the Different Dawn, but that wasn’t at the end.

Maybe Where The Vines Cling Crimson? Scully’s cancer comes back and her fate is ambiguous. And I had Scully kill Emily in Alabaster Stones. But I think that was the right ending for both of them.

As a mother? A Basket of Reeds, where Scully gives William away. I can’t even reread it without a lump in my throat, man.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Tent of Shelter is fluffy and lovely gets a lot of love, and was inspired by a STUNNING manip by @avocadoave but I personally think In The Gale. It’s the one that, to me, feels the most like a grownup relationship of two people processing some trauma. I think that’s an ending that’s happy and also real - like “I don’t love being broken, but I can survive being broken with you.” Two abeyances that lean…

Foxfire for similar reasons. I real love that little story, which I wrote thanks to @perplexistan

I’m 43. I’ve been married for well over two decades and let me tell you that young love is a gift and mature love is a craft.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Some! And that’s really great too, that people read words I wrote and felt so passionately that they left me words about those feelings. What a strange but profound compliment!

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do. PWP isn’t my personal taste so even though I wrote a LOT of smut for the old pornbattles at LJ I wanted the smut to still tell a story.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I can’t say it’s especially crazy, but Fern Hill is a Mulder/Stella Gibson crossover. There are a few little ficlets with XF/Silence of the Lambs crossovers in my Inbox Prompts series.

Oh fuck! Wait! I wrote a Fall/Hannibal/XF crossover called Anthemoessa where Stella, Scully, and Bedelia all meet. Okay that’s it. That wins.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Years ago. God, isn’t that sad? To need positive reinforcement that much?

Yes! It was SUCH a compliment!

Mr. Virgata and me. Followed by Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, who literally invented the word. ❤️

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

The Fisher King

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I do pretty good banter and my education makes me pretty good at the sciencey bits.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I get too lost in descriptions and I try too hard to be clever. I do my best to self edit but sometimes I reread things and I’m like oh my GOD SHUT YOUR PRETENTIOUS ASS UP.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I’ve done it for Bedelia and Hannibal in Italian. I’m not sure I understand the question?

19. First fandom you wrote for?

TXF, my one true love.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

I don’t know that I have a favorite per se. I am most proud of the ones that challenged me to do something outside my comfort zone. Samson is one of mytop fives even though it’s Mulder/Diana. I think I did a nice job. I also wrote Pair of Aces/Double or Nothing which is Scully/Byers.

But I do really love the world of Petrichor and Singing of Mount Abora, and I like the cases.

Gotta bring Fight the Future-- x2-x3 the amount of content, right? But what else, hmmmmmm.

Arcadia: it's a fun trip, and my comfort watch. Not the tippy top top-of-the-line episode, but the care and craft that went into it is *chef's kiss*.

X-Cops. Can't get enough of an "outsider" POV on Mulder and Scully.

Tithonus. Love. That. Episode. It's my preferred dose of angst-- not between Mulder and Scully themselves, but still present. I could swap this out for Firewalker, though. Or Squeeze. Or Our Town. Or Bad Blood. Or Detour.

Lastly... *sigh*. I know me: can't go to a deserted island without some MSR parenthood. Throw Empedocles in the bucket, why not?

I can’t resist a good jealous!Mulder or the tension of pining while in a partner-with-benefits arrangement. Today’s rec delivers both with skill and subtlety. The stylized prose is beautifully crafted, the characterizations are right on the mark, and it’s impossibly hot. This is as close to a perfect vignette as you will ever read.

thinks about the txf dabitwice au. thinks about the time where mulder saw a space craft from the military. thinks about how the military swarmed him and performed surgery on him and erased his memory of what happened. thinks about how scully tore up the road to the military base and met the military halfway. thinks about how she brandished her gun and got out of the car and dragged a post-op mulder into the vehicle while staring the military down and driving off.

thinks about the time scully got abducted by that former FBI agent who gave her to "Them." thinks about how mulder nearly lost his mind. didn't sleep. at all. risked his life just to get up the mountain in an insane way. thinks about how he beat and essentially tortured the guy, screaming at him, demanding to know whether he hurt scully, shoving bloody tape in his face and then momentarily strangling him, then pacing in the room like a lion in its cage.

Weird question

Idk if anyone has any recs, but I need really good labels for glass. The ones I have are old and not sticking very well. Preferably on the thinner side, since the glass bottles I’m labeling are a bit small and I need the label to wrap around the bottles but not go up too far (if that makes sense).

If anyone has good brands or know of a good place to look, I’d really appreciate it!

first up, the x-files. and i’ll take this opportunity to formally plug all of vince’s txf episodes, the guy is just so unbelievable talented. this very short list alone has some of the funniest content i have seen, as well as some of the heaviest. RANGE.

onto breaking bad. the magnum opus.

i debated having one list for episodes he wrote and another for those he directed, but there was so much overlap, sorting by show seemed like the way to go.

that said, here’s better call saul, my beloved.

…vince’s legacy is having created breaking bad, that goes without saying. but his contributions to better call saul show just how much he’s evolved as a director, like… every one of those episodes is just a masterclass is visual storytelling. he has such an eye for composition, every frame could be it’s own painting. and that’s not to say his work on breaking bad was lacking. but it’s clear to me just how much he’s refined his craft, and particularly his skills as a director, in the decade since brba ended. truly a genius. what else is there to say about the man.

To all those idiot, arrogant men (David Duchovny, Chris Carter, etc.) who a.) tried so desperately to emotionally manipulate Gillian into doing more X-Files; b.) thought for a nanosecond that TXF was even remotely challenging, interesting,or her only option as an actor: I hope you noted her comment “Oh, gosh, no.” in response to doing more XFs. I hope you see her flourishing, picking up a well-deserved Golden Globe, being given material in which she can actually prepare, understand, and actually apply her craft - rather than being valued only as a warm body who can show up on set on time and recite bullshit dialogue handed to her at the last minute.

The funny thing is that I’m sure Gillian isn’t even thinking about this. I’m sure she is just doing her thing, not dwelling, focusing on her current movie role in Prague. But if living well is truly the best revenge...well, she nailed it without even trying.
