Tommy is cleaning his hands when his phone goes off with a flurry of texts. Wiping his fingers meticulously to be rid of the engine grease, he takes a quick peek at the screen and freezes.
It's Evan.
Tommy isn't sure he's ready to talk to Evan, or text him. In the past, when he broke up with his partner amicably, they'd be talking again within four to five days, just leaning more heavily on the friendship aspect of their past.
But with Evan Buckley, Tommy doubts he can ever be just friends with him. Maybe it's a recency bias. Maybe he's not recovered enough from the self inflicted wound. But Evan haunts his dreams and waking hours: the latter with the shocked, blank expression Tommy left behind him that night; the former by their happier, most intimate moments.
Still, that doesn't mean Tommy is going to leave Evan out to dry if Evan is reaching out. Also, what if Evan needs his help?
Tommy opens their chat. He hasn't amended Evan's contact from Evan 💕 to a more neutral E. Buckley. He probably never will.
Evan 💕: Eddie is leaving
Evan 💕: going to TX
Evan 💕: i know he has to go to get Chris but hes not just going away hes buying a house there
Evan 💕: it hurts
Evan 💕: everyone leaves
Evan 💕: im doomed aren't i? id leave me too if i could. just go away from all this
Evan 💕: anyway. thanks i guess.
Evan 💕: for 6 months when i got to forget loneliness
Tommy reads through it again and the final message guts him. He clenches his hand around the phone.
If he goes to see Evan, he will be hurting himself; Evan is vulnerable right now and will likely take him back, no questions asked, just to feel like he has someone with him. Tommy will still have his heart shattered to smithereens when Evan comes to his senses. It will be a selfish, short-term panacea for Tommy to go to Evan, for the both of them. Evan will feel even worse after, because by then he'll feel guilty about breaking up with Tommy because he will see that Tommy's right.
But how can Tommy leave the man he loves suffering like this? Aching for a connection that stays, for someone to be his.
Tommy bites the inside of his cheek and shuts his eyes. Then he grabs his keys and throws on his jacket.
Fine. For Evan, he will do it. Even if in days, weeks, months, years, Evan suddenly sees that it isn't Tommy he wants, that Tommy just happens to be convenient, and he decides to walk away from Tommy... Tommy will take it. He'll never be able to walk away from Evan another time and survive it, he knows. He could move to the other end of the world and yearn in isolation then. He'll be the one who loves more, who wants more, and he'll never get it.
It's fine.
He's already given his heart. What's the rest of his life matter anyway?
When he gets to the loft, he's welcomed by Evan's shocked expression that erupts into joy and relief. Evan throws himself into Tommy's arms, clinging and kissing, dragging him inside the space and up into his bed, and through it all, Tommy feels the sharp, jagged edges of his future.
And he bleeds.

B, Explain more about how every year it's sinking in to ML about her screw ups. I agree with the anon that stated ML is spiraling like she did in 2018. It is obvious with the stalking and selfie gate last July. Now she acknowledge the pink pistol in TX. It only took 7 years. Weird. Any insider information from Nashville regarding ML or her fake marriage recently
My feeling is that Blake kept trying even after he found out about ML’s long term affair at the Grammys (same night Gwen found out about GR and his long term affair with the nanny). Blake didn’t end the marriage then (and neither did Gwen). But then ML stopped wearing her wedding ring, stopped thanking Blake at shows, was not trying at all. And she most likely started the affair with Anderson during the time the Southern Family album was being recorded in March or April of 2015. She was pretty openly having a relationship with another man while married to Blake. There are lots of theories and stories from OK people about July 4th 2015. It seems he found something then. Maybe that she really was in another relationship. They both played at the Greenbrier golf thing on July 4. ML and then Blake was the headliner. By all accounts they did not interact or come onto the stage with one another at all. He flew in and out without her. Timing seems to show that he filed for divorce right around then.
I think ML realizes on some level that Blake tried and tried. At the time I believe she thought that they could become a country legendary love story where they divorced, stayed friends, and eventually reunited after she had had her fun. I don’t know if that would have happened because that would require Blake sacrificing a lot more pride the. He did (which was a lot). But I’m sure ML believes it would have worked that way.
And I think Rat was barely trying also, because he was sure that they had three kids and she was Catholic and would not leave. But then Blake announced his divorce to the other coaches and two people that had chemistry they would not have acted on because they are loyal, were free to act. It’s no coincidence in my mind that Gwen announced right after Blake. They had from taping in June to early August to talked and flirt and see if there was something real there. There was. GR feels like he was the one betrayed (ridiculous asshat) because he was “trying” to work things out and it wasn’t enough for Gwen. And I think ML’s world began its slow descent into stalker crazy regret because she never considered that Blake would fall madly in love with a worldwide icon and that icon would become his whole world. And she would feel the same about him. Giddy, in love.
If someone had told ML that she would lose Blake to Gwen if she continued her affairs, I think she would have acted differently, at least for a while. She never meant to lose him forever. I think he was her best friend in a lot of ways. She commented once on thinking they were going to share custody of dogs, but that didn’t happen. She tried following Gwen to get a wedge in there. Gwen brilliantly only liked a post of hers about family, but never followed her back. It was war from then on. Pistol Annie’s retooled their account and came back only following two people… Gwen and Blake. She was so mad she was barely even hiding her crazy. But her team had effectively spun Blake and Gwen as the cheaters so they overlooked her copying Gwen’s videos and the weird follows and how she tracked down people close to them both and used them for her projects, or how she mimicked their posts, copied Gwen’s fashion. Etc etc.
ML thought Anderson would be the next big thing. Bigger than Blake (laughable) but he wasn’t. She used him as a cover but when she got him to insult Garth publicly and all that got her was her and Anderson dragged and Blake got a coveted GB collab, she dumped him and tried for the next person she thought would be a big thing. Evan. She didn’t count on Staci not folding easily. She married the cop to save face and he clearly is not into her. He is with her because she is famous and that’s it. So, now, she may be seeing how badly she messed it all up.
I just laid down pretty much my whole theory. Not saying I’m 100% correct but I think it’s a pretty good base idea at what happened. And yeah, I think she is coming with something big. Whether it works or flops, we will see. She and Marion will not let her go down professionally as easy as she does under the ugly lights (I had to get one in there). 😂
But once she is out of options, she will start writing a tell all and that tell all will paint Blake as the bad guy (and Gwen too) in very unspecific ways and with no evidence. Just enough to get headlines. When I say she was the worst thing that ever happened to Blake, I am not kidding. She will never stop.
- B

Acknowledgments
This book was written with the generous and unstinting support of the Nation Institute, which allowed me to work unfettered for many months on this project. I am deeply grateful for this support and encouragement, especially that of Hamilton Fish, Taya Grobow, Janine Jaquet and Jonathan Schell, as well as Peggy Suttle and Katerina vanden Heuvel at magazine. I also owe a huge debt to Princeton University, where I teach in the Program in American Studies. R. Sean Wilentz and Judith S. Ferszt, as well as C. K. “Charlie” Williams, Elaine Pagels, Sam and Liz Hynes, and many of my dedicated and brilliant students always lent encouragement and advice. I am blessed with supportive and thoughtful friends and colleagues.
Pamela Diamond, for the second time, oversaw the research and organization of a book of mine with her usual skill, patience, dedication and good humor. I cannot imagine having to go through this without her. Rebecca Beyer, a talented reporter and writer, worked extensively on the book, carrying out some interviews and attending events. She was a close and valued collaborator. Elyse Graham and Amy Paeth, two of my students at Princeton, did tremendous and important research, especially under heavy time pressure in the closing days of production. Timothy Nunan, another Princeton student, did a fine job documenting creationist attacks on Charles Darwin and evolution. I benefited greatly from his research. Lisa Winn, Lauren Brown, James Arnold, Maria Guerrero-Reyes, Linda Kane, Kate Peters, Jason Proske, Colin Maier, Moya Quinlan-Walshe and Kathryn Tippett constituted our small army of transcribers. I turned over hours of tape to them and relied on their care and dedication to produce the transcripts. I owe a tremendous debt to those few who have been among the first to investigate and explain dominionism. They include Katherine Yurica, who produces the available online; Frederick Clarkson, whose three-part series in PublicEye.org in March/June 1994 called “Christian Reconstructionism” was a groundbreaking piece of journalism and who continues to do important research into the movement; and Sarah Diamond, whose books, such as are indispensable.
I owe thanks for vital help and support from Bernard Rapoport and Paul Lewis, as well as Patrick Lannan, Ralph Nader, Jenny Ford, Joan Bokaer, Mariah Blake, Cristina Nehring, Ann and Walter Pincus, Lauren B. Davis, June Ballinger, Michael Goldstein, Anne Marie Macari, Robert J. Lifton, Richard Fenn, Fritz Stern, Robert O. Paxton, Charles B. Strozier, Irene Brown, Joe Sacco, Al Ross, the Reverend Mel White, the Reverend Davidson Loehr, the Reverend Ed Bacon, Bishop Krister Stendhal, the Reverend William Sloane Coffin, the Reverend Joe Hough, the Reverend Michael Granzen and the Reverend Terry Burke. The Reverend Coleman Brown, as he has done with all my books, read and critiqued each chapter. Coleman again let me rely on his profound insight and wisdom. As usual, he raised questions and offered critiques that often forced me to reconsider my position or go back to my research. Max Blumenthal, a friend and fine reporter, nursed me through much of this with sage help and advice. I would like to thank Marji Mendelsohn and Janice Weiss for guidance and research, as well as Tamar Gordon, whose advice and scholarship helped me head in the right direction. Tom Artin, as talented a jazz musician as he is a scholar and writer, went through every chapter, as did my wife, Kim Hedges, who always saves me from being too sententious and ponderous with the stroke of her red pen, her gentle smile and common sense. Barbara Moses, the gifted painter, again came to our aid with her amazing eye for detail and her iron command of grammar.
I often leaned for emotional support on my friend John “Rick” MacArthur, who keeps alive magazine, one of the great intellectual journals in America, as well as my friend the poet Gerald Stern, who appeared frequently as I was writing to drag me into the sunlight for lunch and impart needed encouragement.
My editors at Free Press, especially Dominick Anfuso and Wylie O’Sullivan, patiently edited, shaped and formed the text. I would also like to thank Michele Jacob. Lisa Bankoff of International Creative Management held my hand, for the fourth time, through this process of proposal to contract to delivery. She is a gift.

Greg Abbot just signed the 'Save Womens Sport Act', a bill that prohibits trans women from competing in college womens sports.
https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/gov-abbott-to-visit-denton-monday-for-save-womens-sports-act-ceremony/
He did this on the Texas Womans University (TWU) campus, in Denton TX (known for having a thriving trans community).
Our protests were not heard.
The community showed up to peacefully protest this hateful bill. And what did we get in response? Taunts.
Michelle Evans, who filmed and screamed at a trans woman in a Denton bathroom, stood outside and danced to chants indicting her and our corrupt government.
https://twitter.com/ThinkerMichelle
Here is her twitter, just to be clear about who is greasing the cogs in this machine. She actively identifies as a TERF.
We do not want this. Our state is gerrymandered to shit. Voter suppression is some of the worst in the States.
https://www.npr.org/2021/08/13/1026588142/map-see-which-states-have-restricted-voter-access-and-which-states-have-expanded
Our local government continues to ignore and actively taunt us. They hate us, they want us dead. They're writing bullshit bills, committing genocide against marginalized groups, and ignoring the whole- you know- power grid problem. Which is, YOU KNOW, so bad that it's killing people. And has been. For years.
Next time you write off Texas as a red state, remember we're still here and fucking queer. Fuck Abbott. Fuck this bill.
#maude shouts into the void#texas politics#I DONT WANT THIS. IM SO FUCKING TIRED. TEXAS IS KILLING US. OUR GOVERNMENT IS ACTIVELY KILLING US.#greg abbott#michelle evans#im just. so fucking. tired#cw transphobia

Can anyone share what his ex was posting? I have no idea who is ex is to find out myself
Without giving away her username or any of that since she has tweeted that she blocks anyone who is a fan account or tweets about her ex and doesn’t want them following her this is what i’ve seen…
1. It seems they broke up around the time of the EU/BMTH tour that BO did just based on her tweets.
2. During that time she was tweeting about Matt basically alluding to cheating. Some of which she deleted and some of which is still up. One tweet in particular that is still up is her basically saying… if you think it’s better with another bitch than leave (paraphrasing)
3. After that she was tweeting basically about some of what she went through in the relationship like “my ex *insert shit he did*” or “can’t believe i put up with *insert trait so that situations that annoyed/upset her” (these tweets were random over a period of weeks not like a rant or thread about him)
One of those tweets was about a time when they were somewhere in which someone pulled out a gun and it made her feel uncomfortable or unsafe and he made her feel like she was the problem for reacting that way. (As you mentioned, he lives in TX so maybe that’s a normal thing there that she wasn’t used to?)
4. She’s also been tweeting about seeing a psychologist after their breakup. That is what i’m assuming the other anon is referring to when mentioning the book. She has been tweeting photos of passages from the book and explaining that it was the same shit she went through or how much it has put things in perspective for her. She said it was a book her psychologist recommended based on what she had been through. Someone asked her what book those passage photos are from and she posted the cover, it’s a book called “The Verbally Abusive Relationship: How to Recognize It and How to Respond by Patricia Evans”
Appreciate it anon. :)

Hi! Thank you for asking, and for thinking Rory is cute, I’ll be sure to draw more of him very soon! 🫶
Rory would be in a Yandere/Psychological/Thriller horrorsim. :) I’ve been very inspired by BTD/TPoF, so I would like to tell my own story in that genre with my own characters.
There would be 2 other routes besides Rory to choose from with multiple endings. I’ll add some general details about characters below.

I moved back to MN from TX during 2020 covid times and the dumpster fire spn finale broke my fandom spirit so much I essentially dropped off the tumblr scene. Like literally, I was driving the uhaul with my father and had to pull into some casino hotel somewhere in Kansas so I could watch it live. I was so beyond disappointed that I never really recovered with fandoms since. Then, in 2021 I started working part-time with an event security company, which is how I still spend 90% of my time off from the real job. I get to work concerts and sporting events and at the Vikings training facility and my coworkers are my friends, so it's addicting even when it's exhaustion tears from 33 hrs over two days for Taylor Swift and catching 30 seconds of the show (might have a work trip to Vegas in a few months too ifykyk). But I'm returning to fandom. Good Omens is coming back. Evan Buckley and Eddie Diaz have wormed their way under my skin.
Anyway, I realized this as I checked my page and saw in my once randomly criticized as basic bio that I never changed my age from 29 to 32.
