Ames, IA - What I Like About It
I am a native of Ames, Iowa, and I returned to this hometown after completing my undergraduate degree at Grand View University. I worked at Iowa State University for over four years, but my passion is really coaching youth softball. I enjoy visiting downtown Ames, public libraries, botanical gardens, and community festivals. The Ames, Greater Boone, and Story County regions offer numerous activities for both kids and parents. The football stadium at Iowa State University is one of the places I always visit to watch football. I like Ames because of the nice community it offers the residents. I also enjoy the facility and the amenities available here.
Iowa State University
The Iowa State University of Science and Technology is a public institution founded in 1858. It's ranked as #121 in the 2025 Best Colleges list. The total undergraduate enrollment is 25,332 with the university offering more than 100 undergraduate majors, including graduate programs with the College of Veterinary Medicine and College of Engineering. The mascot is a cardinal named Cy, named after a cyclone. As a land-grant institution, the university conducts research projects benefiting the community, including the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station. The campus also houses the Ames Laboratory, a research center for the U.S. Department of Energy.
Business Coming to Ames
Ames has expanded by opening four new restaurants and stores. It's good news that the Texas Roadhouse has opened in July. It offers hand-cut steaks, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and "legendary" sides. The Chipotle Mexican Grill, known for its "Food with Integrity" mission, will open by the end of the year. TJ Maxx, which is located in the former Sears building, will open in the spring of 2013 in North Grand Mall, offering designer clothing without the designer price tag, accessories, home items, and clothes for the whole family. Also, Kohl's will open in a standalone location south of North Grand Mall, offering clothes, bedding, kitchen, home, shoes, and more.

anon this is so adorable. i am going feral. also i am so severely sorry for my IA-ness.
tags — just overall fluff. some light swearing
In hindsight, you should've known that this would entail not just dating, but also marrying a vigilante. How could someone blame you, anyways? You were sitting at home, about to go to bed, when Nightwing crashed into your apartment after being chucked across the city by some villain or the other.
He had a major concussion. You didn't know how to treat thrown vigilantes who definitely had a couple of broken ribs and a torn ACL.
What you did know was how to comfort a man who was clearly in pain, who was trying to stifle his screams, because let's face it, the vigilante life should clearly not be glamorized.
He felt bad for the wreckage in your apartment. Every week, there'd be thousands of dollars at your doorstep from him, ready to pay it off. He had to be rich. There was no way he was giving your entire salary in four months and a half.
Eventually, you figured out his secret identity. And instead of being angry about it, Dick Grayson felt awfully in love with a girl who was as intelligent as he hoped she'd be. Sure she wasn't a supermodel, but she made him laugh. She made him think. She wasn't easy to get along with at times, but she made him better.
Three years later, he put a ring on it.
"I told you," you snapped, "you just keep going in stupid situations, and normally, I wouldn't mind, but it's like you refuse my help or anyone else's."
Dick knew he had a really bad hero complex. He couldn't stand anyone else getting hurt because of his issues. "I can handle it," he responded. "And isn't it just annoying that you've been mad at me for the past two days? Can't you just give it a rest?"
"I'll give it a rest when you start accepting help from others," you responded, your brows furrowing. "God, you're so—you're so—ugh!"
Dick rolled his eyes and then smirked at you, that stupid boyish smirk that made your heart tingle and everything else disappear. "I'm so what, sweetheart? What am I, Mrs. Grayson?"
You glared at him. "Dick!" You huffed, both saying his name and the insult. "That's it. I want a cooling down period. Leave me and the kitchen alone!"
He grinned, looking back at you, a mischievous glance in his eye. "Oh, I will, Mrs. Grayson. I will."
* * *
Making dinner was one of your forms of therapy. Dick was starting to go out for patrol, much to your distaste, no doubt about to pick a fight with someone who would give him considerable damage.
You didn't want him to go, you wanted to keep him here and kiss him forever, but he would leave anyways. It's my moral duty to the people of Bludhaven to keep them safe, he had said to you one night. I could never bring it to myself to disappoint these people. To make them unsafe. I'm going to do whatever I can to make sure people are as safe as can be.
And though you really disliked it, you knew that was one of the core reasons why you were so undoubtedly in love with him.
You turned around to grab the jar of pickles, still steaming from the fight, only to find that it was incredibly hard to open.
"What. The. Hell?" You hissed. You had opened it up just a day ago, and put it easily back, making sure it wasn't that hard.
Your face turned red and you looked at it again before trying to open it up, straining and groaning, only for your muscles to give out. There was only one explanation for this.
Your stupid, lovable, husband.
And after a few minutes of recollecting your pride, you stomped over to your bedroom where he was dressing. He was in the midst of putting the top half of his suit on, and your mouth turned a little dry when you saw him shirtless.
You were pretty sure that when the first time you saw him shirtless, literal heart eyes came out of your eyes. You gawked for a couple of seconds, admiring the contour of his muscles, only for him to turn around and smirk at you.
He knew what you were doing. Dammit.
"Hi, Mrs. Grayson," he teased. "Enjoying the view?"
"Shut up," you snapped, and held out the jar. "Open this up right now and stop screwing with my jars."
He smirked at you. "What's the magic word?"
"The magic word is 'I will beat you up if you don't open the jar up right now'," you responded, glaring at him. "Now. Open."
He laughed, tossing his head back, his voice echoing off the room before taking the jar. You watched intently as his triceps flexed when he opened the jar up with ease and returned it back.
"Thank you," you said, your voice having an edge to it. You were about to turn around before he grabbed you by the arm.
"What, no good luck kiss?" Dick asked huskily in your ear. It sent shivers down your spine.
"Even if I give you one, you'll still end up badly injured."
"C'mon," he murmured, planting a light kiss on your neck, his hands dancing on your waist. He squeezed your sides slightly. "I always fight better when my girl kisses me."
You looked up at him and snorted. "In your dreams," you responded, but he took this moment to crash his lips against you. You felt dizzy and couldn't help but to wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him closer.
When the both of you stopped, he laughed, looking at you breathless, his blue eyes twinkling in the night sky.
"Knew you couldn't be mad at me for that long, Mrs. Grayson."
"Shut up," you grumbled, punching his shoulder lightly. "Go save Bludhaven, Boy Wonder."
He stepped out the window and then turned back at him, smirking. "You know I am, sweetheart. And when I come back, I'm gonna finish what I started."

You have no idea how you had let Pero convince you to go to the shelter, you really don’t. Yet, here the two of your are, hand in hand, waiting for your turn to play with the dogs who were up for adoption.
“Pero,” you sigh, looking up at him.
“Mmm.”
“We really don’t have room for a dog right now. The apartment is too small, and a dog deserves a yard to be able to run around and play in. I’d feel so bad keeping it inside all day.” A pout pulls at the corner of your lips as Pero pulls you closer to his side, a heat flushes your cheeks. This still not something that you’re use to. When the staff member waves the two of you back, Pero all but yanks you forward as he nearly sprints into the back. You can’t remember a time ever seeing him more excited.
“We have dogs of all ages available for adoption today, mainly mutts where we have only been able to guess at pedigree.” The poor girl leading you around is nearly drowned out by the overwhelming amount of barking.
“That does not matter,” Pero speaks up quickly, and you smile.
“Fantastic. I can’t tell you how many people we had come in looking for pure breeds.” She shakes her head, opening the gate to the play pin. You can’t help the sound that comes from you, somewhere between a coo and a whine as you collapse to the ground to be attacked by the dogs. You love the furry beasts, you really do, but you just…don’t know about having one right now. Pero kneels beside you, petting the animals as they venture towards you both, the frown lines on his face lessening ever so slightly. You take pause when you hear a sonorous boof! looking up just in time to be waylaid by an absolutely massive dog, the furry beast sending you sprawling flat on your back as it attacks your face with excited licks. Pero is terrified for a moment that you’ve been hurt until he hears your laughter as you try to sit back up. He helps to ease the dog off of you, distracting it as he showers it in attention and scritches.
“This dog is magnificent,” he grumbles, scratching behind her ears and you nod before grabbing his sleeve to wipe off your face. The look of disgust and disbelief has you near bursting at the seams when you look back up at him. “That was disgusting, bella.” You grin at him before moving to pet the dog yourself. Overwhelmed with the attention, she flops against Pero nearly knocking him down to show her belly which you happily rub.
“Ah, yes, this one is a really sweet. She doesn’t have a name yet, came to us earlier today, actually. An anonymous drop on our front patio, kennel and everything. We think it was a case of she got bigger than the owner was expecting.” The staff member hovers over your shoulder, smiling. “She’s mostly Newfoundland, not sure if she’s a pure breed though. Clocks in about about 120 pounds, the heavier end of Newfie females.”
“She is perfect.” Hearing his comment, you open your mouth to protest as you look over to Pero, but the look in his eyes has you melting on the spot. “Isn’t she, hermosa? Strong and beautiful. Like you.” Heat rushes to your cheeks as the shelter staff member bubbles about how adorable the two of you are. “Please, hermosa?” Your will falters under the gaze of your new boyfriend, but it’s when you look at the dog that you truly cave. The pup is staring up at you with eyes that match Pero’s, such a soft brown. She looks so happy as he lavishes her with attention, her tail wagging non-stop.
“O…Okay, Pero…we can take her home.” He reaches out for your hand, giving it a squeeze before refocusing his attention on the dog. The staffer hands you the adoption paperwork for you to begin filling out.
Where the hell were you going to be able to keep this massive creature?
~~~
“This might have been a mistake,” you sigh, dropping your face into your hand as the new companion wanders around the small house, taking in the smells. “It’s like we adopted a small horse…”
“Hermosa,” Pero comes up to you after having set out the food and water at the end of the kitchen for the furry behemoth prowling your home. “We must name her, eh? Something fitting of a beauty like her.” His hands make their way around your waist, pulling you to him as you bring your hands to rest on his chest. The skin between his eyebrows creases in serious thought. “Perhaps Esmeralda?”
“You mean like from the Hunchback of Notre Dame?”
“From what?” He asked, starring down at you puzzled.
“What do you mean ‘From what?’ Have you never seen that movie?” He shakes his head and you gasp, feigning offense. “That cannot be allowed. We’ll watch it with dinner one of these nights.” He just nods, clearly still confused. “As for the name…I like it, so long as I can call her Essy.”
“No, her name is Esmeralda, not Essy.”
“But Essy sounds so cute!” He grumbles for a moment about how it diminishes the name until you get tired of it, reaching up to pull his lips to your own, silencing the grump. His grip around your waist pulls you a bit more tightly to him causing you to smile into the kiss. When you pull away, you reach up and tap his nose, giggling at the way his face scrunches in mild distaste when you do.
“Fine…you can call her Essy,” he grumbles, resting his forehead against yours.
“Gracias, gruñón.” His hand moves to smack your ass lightly and you squeak, pressing up against him as a low chuckle reverberates in his chest.
“You could call me so many other things, yet still it is gruñón you choose.”
“What, should I call you mí novio? Guapo?” You get up on your tip toes as you pull his head down so his ear is level with your lips, whispering. “Papí?” You swear you hear the wire snap holding Pero’s self control together as he hoists you over his shoulder, heading to the bedroom with a sharp smack on your backside again. You squeal at the smack, face flushed hot. He kicks the door shut behind him, tossing you on the bed before crawling over you, crashing his lips against yours in a needy kiss as his arms cage you underneath him. Your arms wrap around his neck, grabbing fist-fulls of his soft hair in just the way he likes. Every time Pero kisses you, you find yourself getting lost in all of it. The taste of him, the feel of his lips, the sound of his sighs and grunts as he grinds against you…it always borders on too much in the most pleasurable of ways.
Surprising him, you shift your weight to knock one of his arms out from underneath him, wrapping your leg around his hip to use your weight to roll the both of you over. You sit there straddling his hips, smirking down at him. The surprise on his face lasts only the briefest of moments before his eyes darken, hands landing firmly on your hips to drag you against his crotch. You let out a soft, needy moan, leaning down to kiss him…until you hear a whimper from outside the door and you freeze. Your eyes lock with Pero’s for a moment, and you consider just leaving the dog out there and continuing your fun until you remember that you’re a renter, and you have absolutely no desire to have the dog damage anything.
“Sorry, Pero. We may need to wait until the baby is asleep.” You grin, pressing a quick kiss to his lips before removing his hands and hopping off of him. Pero grumbles something too fast, too low, and too in Spanish for you to catch, probably something about being cock blocked by a dog, before he gets up to follow you. Slowly opening the door, you’re very nearly mowed over again by a very excited, very large dog. Your downstairs neighbors were going to hate you…
~~~
It had only been a week since the newest addition to your household had joined you, but in that week you could already tell she had Pero wrapped around her paws.
“No giant dogs on the couch,” you said, only to come home literally that same night from a late shift to see your man and his dog cuddling on the couch.
“No, she can’t sleep in the bed Pero,” you had told him as he borderline pouted at you. Well, as close to pouting as you have ever seen the man with the permanent scowl get. When you stepped out of the shower a bit sooner than he had expected, you saw Pero shoo the dog from the bed as he attempted to play innocent.
But for all of the rule breaking and spoiling, Pero takes very good care of the dog. The first thing he does when he gets home after kissing you is take the dog for a walk while you cook, and it shocks you a bit just how easy it is for you to settle in to this routine. Less than four months with your grumpy Spanish man, and you are already finding it difficult to not call yourselves a family.
Pero is out on one of those walks with Esmeralda at this very moment as you slice up onions for the stir fry. Your mind wanders a bit too far from the task at hand, lost in thought about what the future could hold for you both, until you hiss as the blade catches your thumb, the knife in your hand clattering to the ground.
“Shit! Fuck!” you scream, clenching your teeth as you run to the sink, trying to avoid getting blood absolutely everywhere from the deep gash in your thumb. Your ears ring at the sight of the blood running down the drain as you try to remember to breathe. You had never been able to stand the sight of blood, especially not your own. The sound of the front door and large paws on the wood floors is a welcome relief as your knuckles turn white from the harsh grip on the sink.
“Hermosa, we’re back,” Pero calls from the front door as he removes his shoes.
“P-Pero…” you groan, hardly audible over the sound of the running water in the sink. The shaking in your knees finally becomes too much and you hit the ground, the world spinning around you as your ears ring. Pero calls your name and you’re vaguely aware of his footsteps as he runs to the kitchen. A string of profanity slips from his lips as he grabs a towel, wrapping it around your hand as he cradles your body against his. “B-blood,” you try to explain, praying the contents of your stomach decide to stay where they should.
“Shhhh, cariño, I’m here. It’s alright, it is just a small cut. I will take care of it, and of you.” Once your breathing has evened out, Pero stands, helping you up as you cradle your hand to your chest. Your thumb was starting to throb and you bite back tears because of it. He ushers you to the bathroom, scowl firmly in place. To anyone else, he would appear irritated at you, but you could see the concern that was present in his gaze. He sits you on the toilet seat before rummaging in the medicine cabinet for the alcohol and bandages. “Don’t look.” Calloused fingers gently turn your head away before he takes off the towel, quickly pouring a bit of alcohol on the wound. You whimper and try to pull your hand away out of reflex as it stings, but his strong grip around your wrist keeps you firmly in place as he blows on the cut, the cool air soothing a bit of the sting. Once it’s dry, he wraps a bandage around it, making sure the cut is pressed firmly together. He brings your bandaged hand to his lips, kissing it gently before kissing each of your knuckles, gazing back up at you. Tears shine in your eyes partially from the throbbing of your thumb, and partially from the embarrassment of what just happened.
“Are you alright, belleza?” The concern lacing his voice causes you to sniffle as you try desperately to fight back the tears, nodding.
“I was daydreaming and the knife slipped… I really hate blood Pero.” Your bottom lip trembles and he brings his hand to gently cup your cheek. Leaning into the touch, your eyes slip closed for a moment, the pad of his thumb running along your cheekbone to soothe you. When you open your eyes again, he is watching you with that same intense stare, like he’s working to memorize every single line of your face. As if at any moment you would slip away from him.
“I will clean the kitchen and finish dinner. You rest with the dog in the living room, alright?” All you can do is nod, the tenderness in his gruff voice so soothing you just want to melt into it. The corner of his lip quirks in a small smile before he leans forward to press a gentle kiss to your forehead. He helps you to your feet, holding you steady as you slowly make your way to the living room. Essy is already on the couch, and she lets out a whine as Pero helps you over, easing you down. You immediately cuddle up to the fluffy beast, nuzzling your face into her fur. Ok…yeah, the puppy can be on the couch, you decide. Pero pets your hair gently, whispering comforting words of affection before heading to the kitchen.
When the stir fry is done, Pero brings a small serving to you, taking his place on the very little remaining space left on the couch. You pull your feet up to offer him more room, but he just grunts, moving your legs so they rest in his lap. “Eat, hermosa. You’ll feel better.” He was right, you know he was, so with a sigh you sit up, grabbing the plate.
“It smells good, Pero. Thank you for finishing everything.” He nods, grabbing the remote to flip on the TV, not making a big deal out of anything.
“What was this movie you demanded I watch when we named Esmeralda?” His eyes flick to you then back to the TV.
“Oh, right! It’s called The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Here.” You hold out your hand for the remote and he obliges, grabbing his fork to begin scarfing down his food. You are convinced this man would never be able to eat normally. “It’s one of my favorites,” you mumble as you flip through the movies you have, settling into the sofa when you find it. The sound of the opening music always made you smile, and this time is no different. Pero sits quietly after scarfing down his food, a hand resting on your shin to rub soothing circles absentmindedly with his thumb.
As the credits roll, you look up to him expectantly. The grumpy scowl is still on his face as he turns to look at you. “Well?” you ask, curious to know what he thinks.
“The music is good. I see why you like this film.” He reaches to take your bandaged hand, leaning over to kiss it again, succeeding in making your heart flutter. “Bella, where did your mind wander to for you to hurt yourself like this?” His voice is still gruff, but softer now, concerned. “You are always so careful in the kitchen. What happened?”
You swallow thickly then clear your throat, trying to focus on the feeling of your hand in his. The two of you had been together for so short of a time, would this scare him off? Shaking your head, you decide to bite the proverbial bullet. “I was thinking about us,” you whisper, your gaze falling on your connected hands. When he says nothing, you continue. “I was thinking about moving. The dog needs a yard, a bigger home to play in. Pero, she’s over 100 pounds…we can’t keep her if we are going to stay here, my landlord will kill me. That is, if my downstairs neighbors don’t first.” You look up, the worry plain as day on your face. As always, his face is grumpy and unreadable. His thumb has stilled on your hand, causing your chest to tighten with anxiety. The silence in the living room is stifling, you just need him to say something, anything. Even if it is a no, that’s better than this insufferable silence.
“You want to find…a home together?” His voice is soft, layered with surprise and a look up to his face kicks your heart into a sprint. You’re sure he can hear it with how loud the beat sounds in your own ears. His face has softened as he watches you, the lines smoothing in the way you usually only see when he sleeps.
“I know we haven’t been together long, and that this is a big step, and that it’s asking a lot, and that you may not be ready, and-” Your ramblings are cut off by Pero pressing a sweet yet firm kiss to your lips. When he pulls back, the corner of his lips pulls up is a small smile.
“Belleza…hermosa…la luz de mí vida. Cálmate. I think you are right.” His thumb resumes its gentle circles against the back of your hand as your mouth falls open in surprise.
“Y-you mean it?”
“Of course. Esmeralda needs a yard, as you say. And I think it will be good for us to have a home together. I want a home with you.” He squeezes your hand again, his face drawn and serious. For a moment, you don’t move, processing what he has said. When all the gears finally click into place, you scramble to shift around throwing your arms around his neck with a borderline reckless abandon, hiding your face against his neck. His hands rest in the small of your back, holding you against him. You try to find the words to tell him just how you feel, but they fail you, so you elect to just hold yourself closer to him, breathing him in in the silence. You feel him rest his head against yours as he heaves out a content sounding sigh, leaning back against the arm of the sofa as he holds you to his chest. You would be happy to stay like this forever.
Pero’s hands trace lines up and down your back before fiddling with the hem of your shirt, slowly sliding up underneath it to drag his fingers across your skin. You shiver against him at the touch, pressing a gentle kiss above his pulse point. You feel the vibration of the growl in his chest more than you hear it, and it draws a smile to your lips. Leaning back, you brush his bangs from his forehead, excitement coursing through you at the sight of his eyes darkened with need, eye as intense as ever.
“You know,” you purr, resting your hand on his jaw, the stubble tickling your palm. “The furry one is asleep so,” you lean forward, nibbling at his ear, “we can go pick up where we left off earlier.” The words barely have time to leave your lips before Pero is standing, your arms around his neck and legs around his waist as he carries you to the bedroom. Your giggle in his ear sends a shiver down his spine. God how he loves that sound.
Rather than tossing you on the bed like he normally does, this time he takes a seat, your legs still around his waist. He brings a hand to your cheek, guiding your lips to his in a desperate, tender kiss. You bring your hands to cradle his face gently, eyes closed as you drink him in, lost in the feeling of his lips on yours, moving in time with yours as if it’s the most natural thing in the world.
You rock your hips ever so slightly against him, swallowing the soft moans the action pulls from him before leaning back, looking up at him with the softest gaze you can manage. His hands rest on your hips, gently massaging them as he lets you set the pace, not wanting to rush you tonight. “You know,” you whisper as soft as you can manage, not wanting to shatter this moment with words far too loud. “If someone had told me that this would be my life four months ago, I would have laughed at them.” Pero smirks and nods, pulling your hips more firmly against his own, earning him a satisfied hum.
“Had you not shown up that morning, I was going to leave this city.”
“Then thank God I happened to bump into you. Literally.” The coy smile on your face paired with the sultry slur of your voice fans the flame of desire inside Pero, and his hips buck against your, earning a delicious gasp from your lips as it pulls a low groan from his throat. Your hands brace on his shoulders as you rock yourself against him, whimpering with need. “L-lay back,” you nearly moan and he does as instructed, staring up at you with those dark eyes you adore so much. The way he watches you every time makes you feel like the most beautiful woman on the earth and sends your confidence soaring without fail. “I want to make you feel good tonight.”
“Hermosa, you always make me feel good,” Pero mumbles, watching as you tug your shirt off over your head, eyes falling immediately on you chest. Your skin flushes hot as you smirk, running your hands up his stomach to his chest, leaning in to kiss him quickly. His mouth follows yours as you lean back again, hands traveling down to his pants to quickly undo the button on his jeans that are rapidly becoming too tight for his liking. You swing your legs off of him, tugging his pants down right along with his boxers, discarding them on the floor.
“Scoot up on to the bed.” The borderline commanding sound in your voice causes Pero’s cock to twitch, bringing a smirk to your lips as he does as instructed. Tugging off your own pants and panties rather gracelessly, Pero makes use of the moment to rid himself of his own shirt before you’re crawling back over him like some tigress stalking her prey. He has never seen such a confident hunger in your eyes before and he can’t even begin to describe the way that look is affecting him. You crash your lips against his, wasting no time in nibbling at his bottom lip. He gladly parts his lips for you, your tongues dancing fervently as you revel in the taste that is so entirely and uniquely him. You drag your nails down his chest causing him to shiver against you, his hands snapping to your hips.
“Easy, tiger,” you whisper against his lips before beginning to kiss your way down his jaw, occasionally leaving gentle nips as you trail down his neck, over his chest. Your teeth graze against his nipples at which Pero draws in a sharp breath, his hand reaching up to grip your hair. Smirking against his skin, you continue on your path downwards, kissing down his stomach which tightens under your touch. You follow the path of soft hairs below his navel down to the curls at the base of his cock, your chin brushing against him. Your eyes flash up to his as you grin, neglecting his cock in favor of kissing along the inside of his thighs, nibbling gently at the skin in a manner not unlike the way he first teased you when he had his head between your legs. Pero’s legs tremble under your touch, his hips bucking ever so slightly as the neediest moan you have ever heard from him escapes his lips, followed by a frustrated growl.
With a grin, you finally take the tip of his cock into your mouth, moaning softly at the taste of him. The hand in your hair tightens for a moment before relaxing, trying to remember to be gentle with you as your mouth renders him unable to form a coherent thought. Achingly slowly, you begin to bob your head along his length, hollowing out your cheeks as you do. With every movement, you draw another beautiful sound from your Spaniard; a moan, a grunt, a hiss…and it all sounds like music in that deliciously deep voice of his. You need more. Taking a deep breath, you lower your head, taking him as deep as you can till your nose nestles in the curls at the base his cock. Pero lets out a choked sounding moan, eyes snapping down to you, wide with surprise. He tugs at your hair, trying to ease you off of him as he feels his release rapidly coming on.
“C-Cielo, fuck, I-I’m gonna…” You resist the tugging on your hair, looking up at him with hooded eyes as you reach up to cup his balls. The look in your eyes as you play with him is enough to finally send him toppling over that edge, a string of profanities, both English and Spanish, pouring from those beautiful lips of his. His hand in your hair tightens its grip as he goes rigid underneath you as he fills your mouth. When he finishes, you slowly let him out of your mouth as he watches you with a look of disbelief and desire. That coy smile still on your face, you swallow, opening your mouth to show him.
“Dios…” His low and husky voice sends a shiver through your body as he sits up, the hand in your hair pulling you to him for a rough, sloppy kiss. He groans at the taste of him on your lips, grabbing your bottom lip between his teeth, pulling back until the tender flesh slips from between his teeth. “Mí princessa perfecta…” His voice drips with arousal and desire, low and gruff in his chest.
“Let me ride you, Pero.” The confidence and desire in your voice surprises even you, but you know it has the desired effect when you feel him twitch against your thigh, already getting hard for you again.
“You will be the death of me, mí cielo…” He smirks at you as he lays back, hands resting on your hips. You lean down to kiss him again, unable to get enough of the taste of his lips or the feel of his skin against yours.  His fingers dig into the skin of your hips as he works himself back up. You reach down to ghost your fingers over him and he jumps in your hand, bringing a smirk to your lips. Quickly reaching for a condom in your nightstand, you sit back to tear it open with you teeth. Pero’s eyes ravage your body, a flush across his cheeks and chest as he waits for you. Deciding you are taking too long, he runs a hand across the front of your hip and over your mound to press his thumb against your clit, rubbing quick circles against you.
“F-Fuck,” you hiss, a tremble running through your body as you lean forward, bracing yourself against Pero’s chest. When your eyes find his face, he’s smirking at you with a look that you are sure you had been wearing only moments before; confident and self assured. With a shaky hand, you grab his wrist, grinding against him a few times before pulling his hand away. You grasp his cock, quickly rolling the condom on to him as his hand grabs your hip again. The low hum that you pull from him as you do sends a warm tingle straight to your absolutely dripping core and you raise yourself up on your knees, shifting forward just enough to slowly lower yourself down on to him. Your head falls back as you breathe out a moan when your hips meet his, fully seating him inside of you. Pero’s nails dig into your hips as he fights to hold on to his self control and not flip you over to pound you into the mattress.
Bracing your hands on his chest, you raise your hips ever so slowly before sliding back down. Your eyes find Pero’s, just as delirious and drunk on pleasure as your own. You let out a heady sounding moan  at the sight of that handsome, grumpy face creased in the pleasure that you provide him, quickly speeding up your pace, the sound of skin slapping skin as you bounce on him made all the more lewd as your arousal drips from you, coating his thighs. The moans and whimpers of pleasure tumble from your lips in a near constant stream, only to be punctuated by a near scream as Pero works to meet your thrusts, hips lifting up against you as you slide down against him. You slump forward, overwhelmed in pleasure and he wraps his arms around you, holding you tightly to him as his hips snap up against you at a relentless pace.
“P-Pero, oh fuck, Pero!” You whimper against him, turning you head to bite at the skin of his shoulder, earning a hiss from him, his hips stuttering for the briefest of moments.
“I want – hng- I want you to cum for me, nenita. Please,” he growls in your ear, nipping at the earlobe as he slams up into you. You nails dig into the skin of his chest, leaving half-moon divots in the feverish flesh.
“S-Say my name,” you beg, desperate to hear it tumble from his lips. And when it does, your body tenses and you see stars as your orgasm washes over you. You clench down on Pero, ripping a guttural moan from his lips as he chants your name over and over again like a prayer. He slams into you only a few times more before his own orgasm seizes him in throes of pleasure, holding your hips tightly against his own. You whimper out his name at the feeling of him twitching inside of you, closing your eyes to press your forehead against his shoulder as you pant for air.
As the aftershocks of your orgasms abate, he lowers his hips slowly to the bed and you raise your face from his shoulder, smiling fondly down at him. A sheen of sweat covers his near glowing skin, his lips parted slightly as he tries to regain his own breath. His fingers have resumed the gentle lines along your back as he calms down, softening inside of you. You lean in to press a kiss to his left cheek, then the right, then his nose before finally his lips. One of his hands moves to cradle your head gently as your lips work against his at a lazy pace. Breaking the gentle kiss, you rest your forehead against his, a smile gracing your lips.
“You’re stunning,  mí cielo,” he mutters, his hand resting on your cheek. You giggle softly, turning to kiss his palm.
“And you take such good care of me.” Your reply has the flush returning to his cheeks as he grumbles something about it being his job, only causing you to giggle more. You bite your lip as you lift your hips just enough for him to slip out of you, slide off of his chest to cuddle into his side. He takes care of cleaning himself up with the tissues you conveniently decided to start keeping on the nightstand before he pulls a blanket over the both of you, cradling you to him as he leaves a gentle kiss on your forehead.
“I can’t wait to make a home with you, mí cielo,” he murmurs against your hair, causing your heart to skip a beat. You press a gentle kiss to his chest and hum softly in acknowledgment.
“Regardless of where we end up, so long as I’m with you, I’m already home.” Pero’s arms tighten around you at your confession, your voice thick with pleasure and heavy with sleep. You hear his heart speed up in his chest, and you smile. He gives you a grunt in agreement, but the beat of his heart gives away his excitement. Slowly, your eyes slip closed as exhaustion overtakes you.
“Te amo…” The words are but a breath, and you aren’t even sure you actually heard them as you dance on the precipice of unconsciousness. You could ask him tomorrow, you think, as you slip into a comfortable, dreamless sleep.

do you have any recs for learning about screenwriting / how to screenwrite? i'm one of those writers who kind of sees things like a movie and i'm wondering if things would work out better for me with a new medium. thanks in advance!
I hope you’ve got some time to read all of this because it got really frickin’ long.
I was introduced to screenwriting in a Writing Lab in college and followed suit into a Screenwriting IA (Integrative Activity, where students demonstrate what they’ve learned over the course of their studies in the Cinema and Communications program).
So admittedly, most of what I learned was from two teachers who already knew their stuff and worked in the industry. However, I was so interested in pursuing screenwriting once I’d fallen in love with it, that I bought all the “optional” resource books my Screenwriting teacher had recommended.
The Screenwriter’s Manual: A Complete Reference of Format and Style by Stephen E. Bowles, Ronald Mangravite, and Peter A. Zorn Jr. really has the basics for what you need to learn how to get into screenwriting. It is available on Amazon for a range of prices.
I also read significantly through The Screenwriter’s Problem Solver: How to recognize, identify, and define screenwriting problems by Syd Field and to be honest it can actually be useful for any kind of story writer, as I perused it and applied some of its content to a few films I found were really poorly executed.
I own, but have not significantly perused:
Story: Substance, Structure, Style and The Principles of Screenwriting by Robert McKee
My uncle who is a screenwriter recommended highly, I personally haven’t dived in yet because the McKee has a stupid disclaimer about why he chose to use He pronouns to refer to the writer throughout the book which was a bit irritating so I just covered it with a sticky note and let it sit for a while.
Writing Short Films: Structure and Content for Screenwriters by Linda J. Cowgill
*Writing Tools: 55 Essential Strategies for Every Writer by Roy Peter Clark.
*Showing & Telling by Laurie Alberts
*Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within by Natalie Goldberg (currently reading)
*Take Off Your Pants! : Outline Your Books for Faster, Better Writing by Libbie Hawker.
* = not screenwriting specific, general writing.
Two other books that come highly recommended by both of my uncles who work in the industry are: Save the Cat by Blake Snyder, and Screenplay: The Foundations of Screenwriting by Syd Field.
Since I didn’t learn this completely on my own, I don’t have many online resources, but a quick google search of “Basic Screenwriting Format” should yield you some decent results. HERE is one I found, which has a few book recommendations in it as well. Airtable has resources for screenwriting as well but I am not as familiar with it, search “screenwriting” in the template section.
Here’s what I can recommend right off the bat, sign up for Celtx. It has free and paid subscription services, and you can keep 3 projects on your account at a time, but you can also just download them as PDF’s to free up space and reupload them later and the format will be in tact. Scrivener also has a screenwriting word processor, but it’s a (one time) paid program.
There are many other word processors for screenwriting, but the best for beginners is Celtx. Most processors these days do the formatting for you, unlike 10-20+ years ago when you had to figure that shit out yourself. All you have to do is get familiar with where everything goes.
Which brings me to the next part of my answer…
A Screenwriting Crash Course
For a whole fucking load more of information, look under the cut.
First and foremost, I think it’s important to understand that the narrative description / action / description (all terms used interchangeably) is written in present tense 3rd person, and that you should focus on describing exclusively on what can be SEEN and HEARD. You should also try to be as concise and brief as possible. I found this was quite freeing because while I do love the metaphorical descriptions in prose, screenwriting is a very snappy and visual medium to write in.
Another thing to understand is that beyond learning the basic formatting rules of screenwriting, you can pretty much bullshit formatting you’re not sure about. I’ve read many screenplays where certain elements were not consistent, such as whether or not the writer chooses to put their characters’ names in CAPS every single time (you should at least do so when the character is first introduced).
It’s actually really easy to find scripts of your favourite films online with a quick google search, it might take practice but I’ve managed to build a decent collection of screenplays that I like to read and get an eye for certain formatting tricks that won’t be in a “how to” book. Screenplays also read very quickly. There’s a general rule of 1:1 for page:minute, meaning 1 page is usually equal to one minute of screen time, and if not, it usually averages out.
I’m going to pull some quotes from The Screenwriter’s Manual to give you a bit of an idea of where you can start: pg 25 - 44, 49 - 63
You can find photos of the table of contents HERE if you’d like to message me directly with specific questions, I’d be happy to send you photos of the section you want.
The Staging
The first component in the scene line [or slug line] provides the most basic information about the set-up for the scene.
The staging is ALWAYS abbreviated and followed by a period. There are only two choices for a scene:
INT. for an interior set, informing the reader that the scene takes place in an inside environment
EXT. for an exterior set, specifying an outside environment.
1. The Location
The second component in the scene line is the location in which the scene takes place.
The location follows the INT. or EXT. designation and is separated from it by two character spaces [most screenwriting processors will do this automatically].
Do not abbreviate any words in the location component of the scene line. For example,
INT. APARTMENT is correct, and INT. APT. is incorrect.
VERY IMPORTANT
It is absolutely essential that every specific location be distinguished from every other location.
If Joe lives in an apartment, then you can call that location INT. APARTMENT But if, in the same screenplay, Bob also has an apartment you can no longer use INT. APARTMENT as a location for Bob’s apartment.
To eliminate confusion, one solution is to call each apartment location by the resident’s name: INT. JOE’S APARTMENT and INT. BOB’S APARTMENT
Once a specific location has been identified in the scene line, all subsequent scenes taking place in that location MUST be identified in exactly the same way.
FIRST NOTE:
The location identifies where the activity and dialogue take place…
… if John lives in a multi-room apartment and John is currently in his bedroom (so that other rooms are concealed from view), then the scene line must read, INT. JOHN’S BEDROOM or INT. JOHN’S APARTMENT, BEDROOM
[If the action moves from one location to another there are different ways to indicate it; one would be to created a new scene line to indicate the new location, or to indicate the new location in the description like “John walks out of his bedroom and into the LIVING ROOM”. ]
FOURTH NOTE
A scene line can take either of two common variations:
Most often, the scene line will define a specific location, such as INT. JOHN’S LIVING ROOM which limits the field of view to the area where the “camera” is placed.
If the scene takes place in a more generalized location, you can write it as an open scene, such as EXT. COLLEGE CAMPUS … By identifying the scene in a generalized way, you are indicating that it is not important to your narrative to identify precisely where on the campus this scene takes place.
THE TIME
The third component of the scene line indicates the general time at which the scene begins.
The time follows the location and is separated from it by a character space, then a dash, and then another character space.
[ example: INT. JOHN’S HOUSE, ATTIC - DAY ]
The time component of the scene line is most typically specified as a simple DAY or NIGHT. However, the time component can define a more precise period of the day or night. For example, DAWN, MORNING, AFTERNOON, RUSH HOUR, etc.
… You CANNOT specify an exact time, such as 3:30 PM, in the scene line. If such a specific time is required, you need to [include it in your description]…
When there is no lapse of time from one scene to the next, the time element in the scene line could simply be, CONTINUOUS. … if the time lapse is very brief, then you could use something like, MOMENTS LATER, A FEW MINUTES LAYER
AN EXEMPTION:
If a scene takes place in a location in which there is no way to gauge the visible time (DAY or NIGHT), then that element is omitted from the scene line.
ADDING SPECIFICS TO THE SCENE LINE
IDENTIFYING HISTORICAL PERIOD
[example EXT. PARIS, FRANCE - DAY (1946)
EXT. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - DAY (1920′s)]
INDICATING A MOBILE SITUATION
If a scene opens with a moving vehicle within the location, then that can be indicated in the scene line. For example… INT. JOHN’S CAR - DAY (MOVING)
2. ACTION or [DESCRIPTION]
Description imparts the necessary detail to the essentials of the scene, describing such features as the characters, sets, props, and any necessary action and sound cues.
It is generally best to keep the level of detail focused on the actions and dialogue that comprise the narrative. That is where your attention and the reader’s interest should be directed.
By describing the particular props and decor in a scene and how each character dresses or grooms, you can suggest such character information as personality type, emotional condition, religious affiliation, economic level, artistic taste, and for forth.
First, establish the scene, describing only what is visually apparent in the location and giving only as much detail as necessary.
You cannot describe anything that cannot be seen… until they have been revealed.
You do not need to itemize things that are generic and would ordinarily be present, such as furnishings, colours, arrangements, [etc]…
However you MUST specify anything that is unusual or essential to the scene.
[ My uncle imparted me with a great tip; screenwriting doesn’t maintain traditional prose rules about paragraphs. You should try to keep your descriptions a maximum of four lines, and feel free to break them up into one-line or even one-word for emphasis.]
…
VERY IMPORTANT:
You can only convey what is happening at the moment… [No what has happened or what will happen].
You CANNOT provide any biographical, psychological, or situational information [about your characters] unless you can find visual means to do so (such as a newspaper article, a television program, [etc.])…
INTRODUCING CHARACTERS
Each character must be introduced in the description the first time [they] physically appear in the screenplay. This includes not only major characters, but also supporting characters and even minor characters and groups that function as characters.
NAMING CHARACTERS
When a character is introduced, [their] name is ALWAYS typed in ALL CAPS regardless of whether the character is identified by a proper name, a profession, or an appearance… EVANS, AGENT ONE, DERELICT…
Once a character has been introduced, all subsequent references to that character’s name in the description should be written in a normal manner with initial caps… Evans, Agent One, Derelict…
DESCRIBING CHARACTERS
As the screenwriter, you know who is a major character and who is a supporting or minor character because you have the entire story in your mind. The reader, however, is in a different situation.
… The amount of detail you provide about a character’s appearance and demeanor will give the reader a key to that character’s important in the script.
As a guide, when characters are introduced, you need to make clear how important each is going to be by tailoring the description and context accordingly.
[ You should describe their appearance and what they are doing when you introduce your characters. There are many different formats to describe a character when you are introducing them, and none of them are the hard and fast rule, you will probably end up settling for your own preferred method].
WARREN EVANS, late twenties, intense, handsome with closely cropped hair and a neatly trimmed moustache, is working with cool precision at one of the hundreds of banks of wiring terminals. he is dressed in coveralls and wearing thin latex gloves.
A VARIATION:
A character’s age can also be assigned a numerical designation, such as…
WARREN EVANS (late 20s), ruggedly handsome, dressed in…
Seated at the table is CINDY LEWIS, late 20s and very attractive…
[ Generally you should only mention eye colour, skin colour, height, weight, hair style/colour if it is relevant to the narrative. ]
WORDS THAT GET CAPPED
In addition to using CAPS to introduce characters in the description, there are established conventions for other elements that need to be typed in CAPS but only if they affect the narrative…
Those elements include:
all essential costumes, props and decorany important action, effects, or emphasisany required music or sounds
Although some of the following instances require CAPPING, many will be judgement decisions.
FIRST NOTE:
You CANNOT identify every costume, prop, or decor on the set. Ordinary objects that have no special significance to the narrative should be left [ in normal text].
SECOND NOTE:
… if a certain prop is important to the story, you should CAP it when it first appears, regardless of whether it is important to that particular scene.
WHEN TO CAP AND WHEN NOT TO CAP
CAPPED words can be effective only if they are used sparingly and appropriately, if CAPPED words are used too frequently, their significance will be lost.
3. THE DIALOGUE-BLOCK
The dialogue element, [also] called the dialogue-block, of the screenplay format consists of three components:
the character-name specifies which character is speaking…the dialogue reveals what is being said by that charactera parenthetical, when necessary, instructs [or indicated an element of] how or to whom the character [is speaking].                           EVANS                 (to the group)   Sorry I’m late. This round’s on me.
GENERAL RULES
ALWAYS contains the character-name and dialogue, and it MAY, if helpful, also contain parentheticals.is ALWAYS single spaced with no blank lines that internally separate the individual componentsis ALWAYS preceded and followed by a single blank line
[ Parentheticals should not be used too often, you should be attempting to provide context for how the character is delivering their line in the description by providing adequate mood/intensity/emotion.]
CHARACTER NAMES
A character-name is the designation used for the speaker…
… Once a character-name has been established, you MUST consistently use that name from that character.
For example, if you’ve introduced the character as COLIN PRYCE in the description, then you will probably want to use the designation COLIN or PRYCE in the dialogue-block.
DIALOGUE
Everything that the actor speaks that is heard by the audience is dialogue.
[Dialogue] is ALWAYS written in basic prose with initial caps and proper punctuation.
EMPHASIS IN DIALOGUE
To emphasize a particular word or phrase you should underline it.
OFF-SCREEN or VOICE-OVER CUES
[ Off-screen: when a character is not physically present in the scene peaks from a nearby location, close enough that they could enter the scene. Such a character might be speaking from a room out of view or from behind a concealed area.
Voice-over: (1) a voice heard from a mechanical device such as a telephone, radio, intercom, tape recorder, answering machine, walkie-talkie, etc. (2) The voice of a narrator, which is required when the dialogue is spoken by an unseen narrator. (3) The thoughts of a character, applied when a character is visually present and what is heard are their thoughts.
Usually, a character who is speaking dialogue is visually present within the scene. However, there are two important exceptions: off-screen and voice-over.
The off-screen (O.S.) and voice-over (V.O.) cues
- ALWAYS follow the character-name on the same line- are ALWAYS enclosed in parentheses- are ALWAYS abbreviated in upper case.
PARENTHETICALS
Parentheticals are a convenient device to convey specific information about how the dialogue is being said…
[Parentheticals] are ALWAYS enclosed by parentheses… are restricted to words, phrases, and fragments… ALWAYS apply to the dialogue that immediately follows it.
Parentheticals need to be concise and direct, indicating such brief information such as:
- to whom the character is speaking (to John), (into phone), (to himself)- a particular gesture or mannerism(raising his glass), (looking at her watch)- how the dialogue is being spoken(angrily), (coughing), (softly), (thick ____ accent)
WRITING PARENTHETICALS
Because parentheticals are limited to words and phrases, they [should always be written in lowercase and with no punctuation, for example:
(loudly)
No more than two directions should be included in any parenthetical. If two directions appear they should be separated by a semi-colon:
(to the class; loudly)
THREE SPECIAL CASES
- a (beat)- a (pause)- an (interrupting)
[A (beat) indicates a change of thought, suggests a moment of indecision, or conveys a dramatic effect.
A (pause) signifies that a break in the dialogue occurs. This is most often used in phone conversations.
An (interruption) indicates that the dialogue begun be the previous speaker is being interrupted by the current character (there are a few different ways you can format this). ]
I won’t go any further than this because this is already extremely long, but ultimately I invite you to take a look at some of the scripts (here and here) I’ve written and doctored as an amateur screenwriter as well as digging up your own favourite movie scripts which will give you a good idea of how to implements what formatting.

Ie.
Wei Wuxian panics.
“Lan Zhan!” He softly prods Lan Wangji’s cheek with his finger. “Lan Zhan! Are you okay? What happened?” Lan Wangji’s skin is hot under his touch and it hits him. “Are you drunk? Lan Zhan-ah, Lan Zhan-ah, it must have been hard on you today. Thank you for keeping troublesome me company. But you really do have to warn me before passing out like this.”
After checking Lan Wangji’s vitals he almost cries laughing, unsure about what to do next. His fingers now rest on Lan Wangji’s cheek, his thumb drawing soothing circles.
The film crew has left him, the squatters have scattered and he is stranded in this town he never really intended staying in with the Hanguang-Jun, passed out drunk.
Most likely the footage they have will never get aired in fear of the Wen clan pressing charges for trespassing and the bombardment of cease-and-desist-orders they might unleash.
Just then he starts to feel sorry for everyone involved Lan Wangji’s phone rings. Whoever is calling is quite persistent so he fishes the phone out of Lan Wangji’s pocket and takes the call.
Lan Xichen has already heard about the incident on Burial Mound. If he’s surprised that Wei Wuxian picked up the call he masks it well. After assuring him that Lan Wangji is fine, just incapacitated, they exchange some small-talk. He promises Lan Xichen that he will look after his brother and somehow that is enough for him to leave Lan Wangji in his care without further questions. Weirdly stumped by the progression of things he hangs up, not able to recall what else their conversation was about.
He wants to return Lan Wangji’s phone when the background picture catches his eye.
A dark and a white bunny are snuggling in the lap of someone wearing the traditional white Lan sect garments, the edge of a Guqin visible in a corner. Wei Wuxian is hit with a sudden feeling of deep fondness and silent realisation nagging at the back of his mind.
He pays for the drinks, pushes the still passed out Lan Wangji onto his back and stumbles into the street.
Despite having held out on Burial Mound for quite some time, he’s actually not that familiar with the town itself, nor does he have any clue where Lan Wangji’s hotel might be. Lan Xichen might have told him on the phone. Well, that’s not of any help then.
He hoists Lan Wangji higher, heart beating faster when his head drops onto his shoulder. With his free hand he thumbs over his display in deep thought. MianMian should be in Yiling, shouldn’t she?! He opens up their chat and texts a ridiculously desperate sounding message, begging for a place to stay. Before he can switch his screen off her reply appears in the left corner.
MianMian > *9582 <
Followed by an address in the city. “No!” He hears Lan Zhan mumble against his ear. “Lan Zhan! You are awake! Come tell me the name of your hotel!” MianMian’s apartment surely’d be nice, but hotel beds are a thing. Also sharing a hotel bed with Lan Wangji is a possible thing. “No!” Lan Wangji says again.
MianMian > That’s the pin for the 🚪! Am away on business 🌈💪!Help                    yourself!💕<
It gets more and more exhausting dealing with Lan Wangji on his back, who now for some reason is trying to reach for Wei Wuxian’s phone. “Stop it! Just tell me where you stay Lan Zhan!” He can’t help it if it comes out whiny. “I stay with Wei Ying.”
Oh.Oh! He didn’t even consider bringing Lan Wangji back to the hotel and staying at MianMian’s by himself. Oh.
“Lan Zhan! Let us at least get your things, or you will be very embarrassed when you wake up and have no change. Please tell me where your hotel is, yes?” Despite MianMian’s offer, the hotel bed still sounds very soft and nice. “No. I stay with Wei Ying.” Wei Wuxian sighs. “Do you like MianMian?” Lan Wangji sounds like he’s tearing up. Wei Wuxian sighs again, fondly.
He quickly texts MianMian, now balancing a very sad second young master of Lan on his back.
                                                                      > Is there room for two.                       drunk! half of the lan twin jades is with me. dont’t ask. < YuanDao
MianMian > 👀< MianMian > only one 🛏< MianMian > ... <
                                                                          > Thanks! I owe you! < YuanDao
MianMian > you already do. don’t get the precious ✋✨jun killed. <
He knows that she tortures him on purpose with the emojis but retaliation has to wait.
Luckily Lan Wangji gets easier to handle once he puts his phone away. He looks almost cute when Wei Wuxian flags down a taxi and gives the driver MianMian’s address, which makes Lan Wangji’s face light up.
Once they are in the small but tidy apartment, he lowers Lan Wangji down onto the carpet and plops down next to him, exhausted from the walk.
Under the harsh overhead light, he feels like he’s waking up from a dream.
“It’s always like that you know,” he tells a solemn Lan Wangji, who’s head is swaying into the direction of his shoulder. “I get attached. And then I let go.” Surprisingly Lan Wangji seems to have found his voice again. “Don’t you get lost?” Wei Wuxian shivers. “It’s a bit disorientating, for sure.” Lan Wangji turns to look at him, like he wants to anchor Wei Wuxian, help him stay fixed at his side. He fails moments later when his eyes become unfocused. It is very endearing.
Later, after drinking some water and refreshing themselves Wei Wuxian starts to feel better.
There is no need to feel so weighed down when there’s Lan Wangji by his side. Pretty and immaculate Lan Wangji. He chokes on a laugh when he comes across the scene in the bedroom. The pretty and immaculate Lan Wangi is currently levelling a stare at his sash, still too intoxicated to will his fingers to untie it. “Lan Zhan, let me,” he offers softly and Lan Wangji obediently moves his hands out of the way, looking at him expectantly. The outer robes are removed easily enough, he doesn’t dare to undress him more than that, only pulling out the hairpiece to make it easier to lie down. It feels surprisingly heavy in his hand.
When he looks up Lan Wangji has fallen asleep. The clock on the bedside table reads 21:01. He snickers, silently leaving the room.
Their robes reek of smoke and dead soil. Wei Wuxian strips down to his shirt and underwear, putting the rest inside the washing machine.
It takes him some time to find the right setting, hoping that Lan Wangji’s robe won’t get too damaged.
Finally finding a minute to breathe he’s confronted with a whole other dilemma.
Thinking about lying next to Lan Wangji in bed had felt so natural, but now he’s unsure whether to follow through.
It suddenly feels rude to just sneak under the covers without permission. Shamelessness was usually his strong point, so what made him hesitate now? There’s only one bed, it’s not that he has a choice. And Lan Wangji had insisted to come with him. Leaving without him had been no option anyways.
He gets startled by a noise at the entrance. Sticking out his head from the bathroom he finds Lan Wangji rearranging their boots, putting them in a neat line, toes pointing towards the door. Wei Wuxian’s body shakes with silent laughter. He really wouldn’t want to miss Lan Wangji at his side. Especially when he’s like this.
“Lan Zhan?” He tries calling out. “Hm.” Oh, he’s sober again. “Lan Zhan, how are you feeling? Why don’t you sleep some more?” Lan Wangji just stands there in the narrow hallway, looking a little bit forlorn in just his undergarment. He lifts his head to meet his eyes, the amber hardening in determination. “Will Wei Ying sleep as well?” “Sure! I can’t leave you unsupervised, not when you just passed out in public.” He tries to lighten the mood, but the flirtatious jokes taste stale on his tongue. But somehow Lan Wangji understands, his gaze softens as he beckons Wei Wuxian back into the bedroom.
He throws himself onto the bed and hears the light switch click, the small lamp on the bedside table being the only thing left to illuminate the room. A small haven of light. Lan Wangji follows, sitting gingerly down on the edge and turning to look at him.
He props his head onto his crossed arms, searching for the right words. “Lan Zhan...I...thank you.” Lan Wangji’s posture stiffens and Wei Wuxian springs up, urgency written across his face. “Sorry, I’d thought. I....no one...I never wanted to tell someone so much about my projects – and you listen to me! – even when you ignored me in school.”
He’s now sitting next to Lan Wangji one leg dangling off the edge.
“Always listened to you.” “What?” “I – always listen – to what you say. Now. Back then.” “Huh.” It is really too easy for Lan Wangji to make him speechless. “But, I mean...I really want to be around you, to have you with me and have you show me your world. Like I did with mine. And if you’d want that then...”
A finger brushing the bangs out of his face stops him mid-rambling.
“You. Want to be around me?” Lan Wangji sighs the words in tentative relief, a smile on his lips.
He carefully moves closer. Lan Wangji doesn’t pull back. Soft light bathing his face in warmth. Wei Wuxian holds onto his robes, feeling Lan Wangji’s hands close around his.
Their lips meet in a soft kiss.
He’s so overcome with joy, he feels like he might burst. He wants to pull away, to place more kisses on Lan Wangji. The tips of his ear, his neck, anywhere he can reach.
But Lan Wangji’s other hand moves behind his head, holding him firmly into place, fingers getting tangled in his hair.
Wei Wuxian smiles against his lips, desperately clinging onto him.
Lan Wangji is there to ground him, intently pulling him close and letting them both fall onto the bed.
He wakes up to Lan Wangji calling his name.
It is way too early, whatever Lan Wangji is saying, his brain doesn’t compute, so he settles on inspecting Lan Wangji’s face between yawns.
“Wei Ying.” He gets called softly and doesn’t know what to do about it.
Rolling onto his other side he reaches for his mobile phone, checking the messages that have been piling up overnight.
Lan Wangji lies completely still besides him.
Grandmother Wen has sent him a couple of reassuring and warm-hearted messages and Wei Wuxian is relieved to know that they all found temporary places to stay at. The last thing she sent is a short voice message, so he opens it. Ah-Yuan’s cheery voice gets blasted through the room.
“I hope Xian-Gege is alright! Tell Ah-Die that granny invites him to dinner! He was so cool yesterday, I was flying with him, Xian-Gege!”
Lan Wangji stills even more, stumped by the message. Wei Wuxian finally shakes off his worries and rolls around laughing. “Congratulations, you are a dad now!” There is still no reaction from Lan Wangji.
Still laughing he scrolls through his feed, slowly remembering yesterday’s frustration. It looks like no one is talking about the Burial Mound incident, just some people demanding to see Wen Ning again, and Lan Wangji seems to have been really too drunk to remember anything.
His thumb swipes faster, irritation building up inside of him.
Lan Wangji suddenly sits up, startling him.
“I can make them broadcast yesterday’s footage. If you want me to.” Wei Wuxian decides it is finally time to meet Lan Wangji’s eyes, even if it’s only to try and discern what is going on in his mind. “I will talk to my brother about it.” Wei Wuxian sits up on the bed as well. “I really don’t want the crew to get sued.” “They won’t, –” Lan Wangji looks genuine– “and the law firm can handle the rest.” “You would do that?” There is it again, yesterday’s silly happiness making him feel giddy. Lan Wangji gives him an insistent nod. “It is a good cause.” “You will be made an outsider if your name gets tangled up in this. Don’t you have a scholarship to protect?” “Not that important.”
He affectionately strokes his cheek, and Wei Wuxian knows that he remembers.
That he still feels sure of...whatever they are.
Lan Wangji will make the broadcast happen, not only for him but for the community and for the cause.
Filled with so much love and hope Wei Wuxian excitedly flops around on the bed. “I could use some of the footage I took in the chaos and upload it as a preview on my site to draw attention!”
Lan Wangji looks approvingly.
He loves it when Lan Wangji looks approvingly.
Catching Lan Wangji in a boisterous hug he peppers his face with soft kisses, and he can feel Lan Wangji smiling before he is pulled into his lap.

moving in together (mileven week)
Late July 1991, Iowa City, IA
The last few months, including the second half of second semester and the months of summer break, had been spent calculating costs of living and scouting the classifieds for apartment listings. Finally, at the end of June, Mike and El had settled on a little one bedroom thing close to campus. It was enough for them and had a pullout couch in the living room if anyone ever needed to stay over.
Today, however, is move-in day. They’ve spent all week figuring out how to pack as much as they can into the hand-me-down station wagon, but it isn’t enough. They’ve managed to fit most of their personal items, like clothes and books and some kitchen appliances they’ve bought, but the car isn’t nearly big enough to fit larger pieces of furniture like their new bed. What they’ve done is lash the mattress to the roof and Hopper has volunteered himself to drive up with the rest of their stuff the next day.
It’s six in the morning when they leave and El is half asleep, so Mike keeps the radio low. He drives with the hum of voices quiet in the background for a while, nothing but his thoughts for company. He’s excited to be living with El, on their own. They’d stayed in dorms last year, which, although convenient, meant they lived a floor apart. Sharing an apartment means they get to see each other all the time. And what could be better? It’s a big step to independence from their parents.
It’s sometime around nine when El stirs again, waking up because the car has stopped. They’re at a rest stop somewhere in Illinois, where they both get out to stretch for a few minutes before switching sides so El can drive instead.
Three more hours later, they’re about twenty minutes away and it’s nearing lunch time, so they drive into the city and sit at a McDonald’s for a bit before going on the little way left to their new home. The building is brown brick, nondescript looking and with a rotating door in the entrance, which is probably going to make it really hard to get their mattress in, but they’ll manage.
Mike goes inside to the reception to let them know they’ve arrived while El starts taking small stuff out of the car. She has a pile of boxes (of books and kitchenware, mostly) on the sidewalk before he comes back out with a trolley.
“Hey,” he says. “They gave me this for the boxes and they said we can use the side door later because the mattress won’t fit through the front.”
El nods, still kind of sleepy from having to get up so early. “Okay.”
The two of them stack boxes onto the trolley before locking the car and making their way inside to the elevator. Their apartment is on the third floor, where El then stays to start unpacking stuff into the cupboards while Mike goes back out to the car to cart more stuff upstairs. About forty minutes later, he enters the apartment with only a few boxes on the trolley, face red and sweaty.
“Can you come downstairs and help me with the mattress?”
El has to smile looking at him. She loves this man too much for her own good; living with him is going to be a ride, but at this point she’s sure it’s going to be something she does for the rest of her life.
Back outside, the couple works to untie the mattress from the roof of the station wagon and then use the trolley to get it to the side door. Getting it inside is a whole other task but El’s a little more capable than most, drawing on a bit of power to make the mattress lighter to lift into the elevator and then down the hall to the apartment. Once it’s inside and on the floor of the bedroom, Mike goes back and closes the front door, slumping against it.
“I am so tired,” he says. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this tired in my life.”
El quirks an eyebrow. “Not even when everything back home was going to shit?”
He huffs a laugh. “Not even then. That was adrenaline-induced all-nighters, there’s nothing adrenaline-inducing about moving boxes.”
“Hmm,” says El. “Maybe I can fix that.” She looks at the boombox that she’s already removed from its box and placed on the counter and it turns on, automatically tuning to their favourite Iowa City radio station. It’s in the middle of blasting Rasputin by Boney M and Mike immediately perks up.
He’s grinning when he says, “You know I can’t resist making you laugh.” His dancing is what makes her laugh. It’s so bad that there’s no alternative, and she immediately starts giggling as soon as he tries moving to the beat. Mike ends up tripping haphazardly over a box and sprawling on the floor in the kitchen, where he lays silently for a moment before howling with laughter. He lies there until neither of them can breathe, El having sat on the floor leaning against a cupboard, and it’s kind of crazy but it’s also the best thing ever.
The song ends and fades into the very recognizable intro of Right Here Waiting, and suddenly all Mike can focus on is the way El’s eyes are glittering, her face framed by strands of hair that fell out of the bun she pulled it into earlier, lips caught in a soft smile as she looks down at him.
“Do you know something, El?”
“What?” She questions, still smiling.
“You’re beautiful,” he says, enraptured. “And I love you.”
She sighs and closes her eyes, leaning her head back against the cupboard behind her. “You can’t say things like that, it makes me want to jump you.”
Mike is silent for a second before he starts laughing again. El looks at him with a confused expression.
“Did I say it wrong?” She asks, a smile curving back onto her face. His laughter is contagious.
“Yeah,” he answers, still with a laugh bubbling in his throat, “I think you meant it makes you want to jump my bones. Jumping me just means you’re gonna beat me up and steal my wallet. Unless you’re into that?”
El frowns before she realizes he’s joking. Sometimes jokes like these fly over her head, but most of the time she gets them a second later. She shoves his shoulder, not making much of an impact since he’s on the ground.
“You’re weird.”
Mike grins at her. “Do you want to dance?”
She rolls her eyes and stands, pulling him with her. He wraps his arms around her waist and she lays her head on his shoulder, her arms around his neck. The song is almost over, but the couple twirl around, almost tripping over boxes in the process but enjoying themselves nonetheless. It’s always a wonderful feeling to be close; being separated for as long as they were as kids was devastating.
With the closing notes of the song, Mike dips El, and as she starts to giggle, silences her with a heartfelt kiss.
“Where’d you learn that, Mister Smooth Guy?” She says, smiling again when he pulls away.
“I may have gained some upper body strength since I was a kid,” he responds with an air of importance. “Needed it for things like that, among others.”
She nuzzles the side of his neck, inhaling the scent of his mom’s laundry detergent. The shirt must have been washed last night, then.
“I love you,” she murmurs. “I’m so excited we get to live together now.”
“Me too,” Mike mumbles against the top of her head. “I was tired of getting interrupted by my roommate.”
El snorts. “Of course.”
Later, they order some pizza from a place close by, having spent the afternoon unpacking but getting more and more tired as the hours went on. The pair end up passing out on their mattress, still in their clothes, and that’s how morning finds them: wrapped up in each other’s arms, snuggled together as they will be every other morning of their life together.

Manifest - ‘Contrails’ Review
Tumblr media
"The government didn't start hiding things on the day we came back.  They started on the day we disappeared."
Even paranoids can have non-imaginary enemies, and sometimes the crazy conspiracy theory is not just a theory and nowhere near crazy.  Just ask Captain Bill Daly, who was the pilot of Montego Air Flight 828 when it left Jamaica on the evening of April 7, 2013.
Last week, we saw that Captain Daly was something of a mess, more so than most of the 828ers.  As the pilot, the safety of the passengers was his responsibility, one he took very seriously.  When the plane encountered the storm/wormhole/alien spaceship/wrath of God/whatever it was, he got them through it in one piece and landed everyone safely--only to find himself being blamed for whatever it was that kicked 828 five and a half years into the future.  Add that on top of all the other stress that the "average" 828er has to deal with--finding out you were presumed dead, your loved ones remarried, and your worldly possessions were given away to Goodwill years ago, and such--and, well, if that happened to you, you'd be a mess, too.
After Cal prophecies that "the man from the plane" will need his father's help, Ben gets a call from Capt. Daly, who enlists his help.  The good Captain has determined that the official government records of the crash investigation are deliberately misleading, or at best wildly inaccurate, regarding the weather conditions.  The crash investigation report is dated April 8, 2013, just one day after the disappearance.
Ben subjects the inquiry record to one of his trademark analytical binges and discovers that a meteorologist named Roger Mencin, who was conducting observations of "dark lightening" near where 828 disappeared, was supposed to testify at a hearing, but backed out, and almost immediately took early retirement and moved to Massapequa.  They go to visit Roger, who tells them that he was pressured into erasing his data--but saved a copy just in case.  They load Roger's weather data into a 737 cockpit simulator, which gives them a pretty good replica of the storm and turbulence, but registers a crash when Daly tries to repeat the maneuver that got them through the storm.  As Ben points out, the simulator probably doesn't model time travel--but Daly just gets even more frustrated at his inability to "prove" that what he did was right, and even more convinced that Fiona Clarke is behind it all.
Meanwhile, Michaela is babysitting Cal on her day off when Autumn shows up at the apartment, asking Michaela's help in locating someone she claims stole her identity and framed her.   While Autumn is there, Ben calls Michaela and she asks him "Hey, how was Massapequa?"
The next day, Roger Mencin turns up dead in a suspiciously-timed boating accident.  Ben and Michaela go to check up on Daly, and when going through his apartment discover that he's planning to steal an airplane and fly into a storm cell looking for more dark lightening.  When they get to the airport, they find out that the airplane isn't the only thing Daly is stealing--he's kidnapped Fiona and is taking her with him!
I should mention here that while Autumn is attempting to break away from The Major's operation, her new handler is refusing to accept her resignation and putting the squeeze on her.  (The new guy  gives off the same weasel-y vibe as Autumn's previous contact, the late Lawrence Belson., and will therefore be designated "Weasel 2.0.")  While Ben and Michaela are chasing after Captain Daly, Autumn breaks in to Michaela's apartment, takes photos of Ben's research documents, and steals a page out of Cal's sketchbook.
Though Ben and Michaela do their level best to talk him out of it, Daly goes roaring into the center of the storm, pursued by two Air National Guard F-16s.  The plane is either shot down or flung forward in time, take your pick.
In reviewing the events of the day, Michaela realizes that Autumn overheard her mention Massapequa, and realizes she's the Major's mole.
And then Grace discovers that the window to Cal's bedroom is open and Cal is missing.
"828" Watch
The flight number appears on the cover of the government report.  The tail number of the stolen plane is N728PH.
Also on the manifest.....
In further developments on the romantic-triangle front, Michaela, to her credit, tells Jared that it's over between them and she will not be "the other woman."
"Dark lightning" really exists.  The technical term for it is "terrestrial gamma ray flash," a phenomenon first detected in 1994, and still not all that well understood.  They seem to propagate in and around thunderstorms, though the exact cause is still the subject of some scientific debate. A typical "TGF" lasts from 0.2 to 3.5 milliseconds (don't blink or you'll miss it!) and kicks out up to 20 million electron volts.  While "20 million volts" sounds impressive, we're talking electron volts, which are a measure of energy (and mass and momentum) in particle physics.  (They have nothing to do with the volts in your 9-volt batteries and 110-volt electrical outlets, which measure electrical potential.)  An electron volt is so small that you'd need 249,660,461,771,990,093,472.9 of them to power a 40-watt light bulb for one second.  (That's the answer I got, anyway.  Please feel free to check my math.)  I imagine it would take a lot more than that to send a Boeing airliner hurtling five years into the future through the space-time continuum.
Captain Daly drives a C2 Corvette Stingray.  Definitely a pilot's kind of car.
In the first scene with Ben and Daly in the Corvette, the car radio is playing "Midnight Rider" by The Allman Brothers: Well, I've got to run to keep from hidin'/And I'm bound to keep on ridin'/And I've got one more silver dollar/But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no, not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider. Fitting choice for Daly's theme song, given how his story arc plays out.
This week's gold star for acting goes to Frank Deal, who played Capt. Daly.  In the flashback scenes and the first act of the pilot episode, the character is snarky and supremely confident (as pilots usually are).  In the "present day" scenes in this episode and the previous one, he's a broken man--but still the same individual, and still sympathetic even at the end.  Honorable mention goes to Francesca Faridany, playing a terrified Fiona Clarke.
In the cockpit scenes during the storm, Daly says he's "increasing speed to 300 knots."  According to Wikipedia, a 737's cruise speed is in the neighborhood of 450 knots when at altitude, so how could he be increasing to 300?  He's referring to indicated airspeed, which is not the same thing as "true" airspeed.  A plane's airspeed indicator measures speed by measuring the difference between static air pressure around the plane and the pressure in the pitot tube, which points directly forward.  At cruising altitude, the air is thinner, and this causes the airspeed indicator to register something less than the speed the aircraft is actually travelling relative to a fixed point on the ground.  That 450 knot cruising speed therefore translates to something a bit below 300 knots IAS.
Massapequa is a town of 21,685 (2010 Census) on the south shore of Long Island.
According to the co-pilot, Kelly Taylor was demanding a hypo-allergenic blanket from the flight attendants.  She would do a thing like that.
I am very certain that I would not want to be Autumn Cox when Michaela catches up to her.
Quotes
Captain Daly, to his co-pilot: "I'm a cowboy.  Plane's my horse, and the sky an open desert."
Captain Daly, in his debriefing: "You don't understand.  There is no 'conventional maneuver' when a storm appears right on top of you.  And this storm was like nothing I've ever seen."
Airport guard: "Hey, hey, Captain Future! You gonna fly through the Bermuda Triangle again?"  A more prophetic statement than he realized.
Conclusion
Another good episode with a couple of annoying little details.  The Major's organization seemed uncharacteristically ham-fisted: kill the meteorologist the day after he talks to Ben Stone?  Way to draw attention to your secret operation that no one is supposed to know about and blow your mole's cover in the process!  Shoot down a plane and kill the hostage?  Not swift either, guys.  Also, I thought it a little too neat that Fiona, a neuroscientist in a narrow specialty with New Age leanings, would be conversant enough with high-end particle physics to know what dark lightening was in the first place.  (A quick scene of Fiona looking it up on Wikipedia would have been a nice touch.)  However, the episode did an excellent job portraying Captain Daly's descent into madness in a believable fashion, and I liked how Fiona Clarke, until now the very portrait of emotional equilibrium, completely lost it as she concluded she was about to die.  And the cliffhanger at the end--oh, boy!
Three out of four terrestrial gamma ray flashes.
Baby M avoids exposure to gamma rays whenever possible.

DISTANCE: 2
“Sonny, please don’t go.” Begging, though not your style or expertise, was something you were willing to do when it came to the only one you loved.
His sigh and slumping shoulders gave away his guilt. Of course he didn’t want to leave, but if he wanted to make sure he took care of loose ends, he couldn’t be with you until it was over. “I have to, Y/N. I should have never came back in the first place. I put you in danger and if anything happens to you I’m not gonna forgive myself.”
Beneath the warmth of your sweater, your stomach was doing somersaults. One second you were hopeful, the next you were disgusted. Why must things be like they are? You chose to stay silent, knowing that pleading would only make him feel more guilty, and you didn’t want to hurt him.
“It wouldn’t be an issue if I hadn’t been out of that house for nearly five days once you got that call. That’s the problem. I didn’t have your number saved in the burner, I never called you while I was under. It was a risk I didn’t wanna take and yet somehow my best laid plans got shit on.” He was packing a few of his more casual clothing items to leave, having deposited his old bag by the laundry closet on his way in.
You wanted to tell him that whoever it was knew your name, but again with the desire to keep him more calm, you chose not to say anything. Instead, you sat on the edge of the bed and watched him pack. He was moving slowly, as if he wanted to take his time and be near you - but, you both knew time was almost up.
“Let me make this right, and I’ll be back,” he insisted, leaning down to kiss you goodbye. You held him tight for a moment longer and then let him go, nodding and fighting back tears. It was never easy to watch him go, but if it were easy, there’d be no point in staying.
It had been two months since you’d seen Sonny. The same disgusting feelings of wondering why you stuck around continued to float through your head, and after the first few weeks, you started to welcome them. Misery loved company, and you had become so very miserable. While you knew Sonny was working, it was hard for you to understand why he accepted the UC position, anyway. It was so dangerous, and while he was great undercover, you wished he had less talent when it came to being multiple people.
From your tidbits of updates through SVU, you already knew Sonny was working to get close to someone who they suspected of serial rape throughout NYC, and perhaps even down into New Jersey and Delaware. What bothered you most is that someone from the house they were staying in had called you and knew you by name, and now your better half was missing. Benson couldn’t give anymore information than she already had, and it didn’t seem like anyone else was willing to fork over any input, either.
It was better to try to live your normal life, though, even if it wasn’t easy. You worked during the week as a Instructional Assistant at a local Elementary school. On the weekends, you worked on grading the most difficult 4th grade spelling tests you’d ever seen. That was a benefit - being an IA meant you had all eight of the classes as yours, so you stayed busy. When you weren’t nose deep in gel pens and eraser marks, you volunteered at a soup kitchen, though sometimes you stayed home and sulked. Sulking was your favorite.
“What’s on the menu today?” a grainy voice asked on the other side of the partition.
“Good afternoon, Louie. Looks like we have spaghetti tonight, or broccoli cheddar soup. Pick your poison,” you replied with a soft smile. The interaction was nice, but sometimes exhausting, especially when you didn’t feel like pleasantries.
“Soup,” he replied, taking the bowl from you and moving on down the line. “Thanks.”
You  murmured a ‘welcome’ and kept it going, serving the next thirty or so guests before everything was gone and it was your time to leave. Volunteering was pretty nice, and you wondered why you hadn’t done it earlier. You had been preoccupied with spending all of your time with Sonny that it was strange but fulfilling to do something for another person.
“I’ll see you guys next weekend. Thanks, again,” you called out as you left the building. It was dark and brisk, your kind of weather, as you stepped out onto the street. The only concern you ever had was that you weren’t in the best neighborhood when you did your volunteering, and it was always dark when you left. The walk to the subway only took about five minutes, though, and you usually hyped yourself up enough to make the trip in 3 minutes.
On the platform, you waited for the next train. Five minutes, hopefully less depending on traffic and whether or not people actually got off when they were supposed to, instead of lingering in the doorway so the conductor had to wait. A couple some twenty feet down from you caught your attention, giggling and twirling one another around. It must be nice. Seeing them out of the corner of your eye really made you miss him, but it simply was what it was, nothing could change that anytime soon.
The woman, in mid spin, lost her hat and watched as it fluttered to your feet. You bent down and scooped it up, meeting her halfway on the platform.
You offered her hat with an outstretched arm. “Here you go.”
“Thank you,” she replied, thick New York accent filling your head. She turned and walked back to her lover, falling into his arms again. You couldn’t help but to be jealous, and look on in spite. He kissed her gently, beaming at her when he pulled away.
The noise that left your throat wasn’t human, but it was loud enough to catch the attention of the couple. You recognized his face. No, in fact, you knew it too well. Sonny, your boyfriend, your undercover detective significant other, was entangled with another woman in front of you.
Lucky for you, the train came only a moment later, and you hurried aboard stood with your back to them. They boarded as well, at the end of the car, leaving you unable to react to what you had seen. Sure, he was undercover, and you knew that, but did he have to act like he was so happy? Had he ever looked at you like that? Questionable. And, if he was so happy, was he really undercover? Maybe it was all a ruse. You glanced down at them, noting that he was staring at you over the shoulder of the woman he was with. You averted your gaze to the floor and glared, wondering what her name was? Probably something cheap like Candy. Why did you hate her? You didn’t even know her, and plus it was Sonny you should be angry with. You thought he was going back to tie up loose ends, not tie up something loose.
Your stop finally arrived and you quickly left the subway station, nearly running up the steps to get to the street as you fumbled for your phone.
“Hello?”
“Amanda, it’s Y/N.”
“Hey, what’s going on? I haven’t heard from you in a while.”
“Yeah, I’m sorry. I’m worried about Sonny. I haven’t heard from him since he left and I didn’t think he’d be gone this long.”
She sighed, whether in frustration or sadness, you didn’t know. “He’s alright. I talked to him today. He’s working on something bigger now, trying to prove himself to the ring leader of that sick organization so that they’ll trust him. I know this is hard, Y/N, but you’ve gotta trust him, okay?”
“Why would you say that? That I need to trust him?”
“I-I don’t know, really, it just seemed like something you’d need to hear, that’s all.”
“Why isn’t he able to contact me?”
“He doesn’t want to risk people finding out who you are.”
“But doesn’t it look suspicious that he’s calling you, and you’re an NYPD Detective?” you countered, getting on the elevator of your building. “Or is this really just keep Y/N in the dark and hope she’s too dumb to ask questions?”
“Hey, no, you know it’s not like that at all.” In the background, you heard crying. “Look, Y/N, I’m sorry. I am. I can’t explain anything, but Jessie’s losing her mind and I’ve gotta go, I’m sorry.”
Alright, if that’s how everyone wants to act, then fuck them, you thought to yourself, dropping your bag on the counter when you got inside. If that’s how everyone wanted to treat you, to keep you in the dark and avoid the truth, you’d be a willing participant. You walked into your bedroom and pulled out your suitcase, the one you’d moved away to college with, got your first apartment with, and most importantly, the one you’d used to move into the apartment with Sonny. With a huff, you tossed the suitcase on the bed and unzipped it, beginning to fill it with as much of your clothing as you could muster.
Now it was time for someone else to be in the dark.

Some random replies to replies that I didn’t reply to in the reply thread. :)
Confused yet? I am. :) Anyhoo, these are for @skyburned,  @penig, @dunne-ias, @techheaddanie, @glabeglarn, @jennamaxon, @katatty, and @serabiet...
skyburned replied to your photo “I’m contemplating taking an excursion down to Roswell (It’d be a...”
I lost my simcity 4 disk so frequently I bought a downloadable version from Amazon. Now I can download whenever I change computers or whatever and NEVER WORRY ABOUT THE DISK. I love that game.
I hate messing with disks. I especially hate when you have to put in the disk in order to play the game. I mean, I get why you have to, but I just hate it and rebel against it and always get no-CD cracks. To me, when I buy a game or any piece of software, I own it forever (Don’t even get me started on Adobe’s current “rental” scheme. I’ll see red); it’s not dependent on whether or not I have a useable, non-damaged disk.
So yeah, I would’ve gone your route, definitely, but I bought SimCity4 at a used book shop and I haven’t used/played it enough to have tracked down a crack for it. I mean, I’ve had this current machine for over a year now, and I hadn’t even installed SC4. But if I try my hand at making a completely new terrain or five -- and I might, for the custom Uni(s) that I want to build -- I’ll track down a crack. Must be out there somewhere...
penig replied to your photo “SUCCESS! :D …Well, except that the size is off by a neighborhood tile...”
I have a default replacement in my BACC which only replaces roads automatically in new hoods. In old ones you have to lay down custom road tiles. Maybe you could do something like that?
That would be good, but what I’d really like (but that isn’t possible) is a road default that has “zones.” Like, high-traffic roads are bigger and paved while residential side roads can be smaller and possibly not paved. Like, for retroStrangetown, I’d want the “Road to Nowhere” to be a large, paved highway, like the old Route 66, and the roads in the “military” section I made to be paved but smaller, and the roads in the little non-military residential section I made to be packed dirt. That’s kinda how it works where I live even now, much less back in the 50s. The one interstate highway and the county-maintained roads that get more traffic and the roads in town are all paved and of different sizes for different levels of traffic, but the smaller county roads and the residential roads outside of town are all packed dirt.
I wish we could have the different road types that are in SC4 in TS2, but...nope.
dunne-ias replied to your photo “SUCCESS! :D …Well, except that the size is off by a neighborhood tile...”
I've been planning a new ST map too. And hoodreplace is very easy and straightforward to use, because Mootilda truly was a treasure we did not deserve
She really was! I am still mourning her loss. :(
But yeah, Hood Replace is pretty awesome. I’m now thinking of seeing about maybe uploading my retroStrangetown -- at least its map + hood deco; not sure about the houses because of the amount of CC -- when it’s done NOT as something to be played as-is because I didn’t make it empty or anything, but more as something one could use with Hood Replace to replace one’s own Strangetown in terms of roads and deco and all that.
techheaddanie replied to your photo “SUCCESS! :D …Well, except that the size is off by a neighborhood tile...”
Looks great. It's never too late to learn to do cool stuff. :)
Indeed it is not! I might give making a new custom terrain a go, figure out how it all works. It’s easy enough to edit an existing terrain, but doing all the terraforming and planning the road layout from scratch and all that might be fun. I need to figure out how that all works. I have a tutorial saved, so...one day, when I don’t feel like doing any of the other Sim-related things I have going. :)
glabeglarn replied to your photo “An “expanded” Strangetown. What will be an all-deco military base is...”
I love reading about your plans, and I really like what you’re going to do with Strangetown :) another option for SC4 is to buy a steam key from G2A, they’re only 4 euros. But maybe you won’t want to buy the game again :)
Yeah, I have a thing about not re-buying games...although I did buy most of TS2 several times over, over the years. But generally, I only buy games once. If I subsequently lose the disk or the disk becomes damaged or whatever, I have no qualms whatsoever about pirating a copy of the game, since I already own it.
But yeah, Steam is certainly an option, too, and if I hadn’t bought SC4, that’d be a thing I’d do. ...Although technically I don’t fully legitimately own SC4 since I bought a used copy at a used bookstore, but... Well, in any case, I did find my disk, so we’re all good. :)
As for my plans for retroStrangetown...I’m still not entirely sure what I’m going to do with it. I mean, I’m going to finish building it, and I’m going to play it, for sure, but I don’t know exactly how I’m going to share the playing, as it were. I might try the whole story thing but historically when I’ve tried writing a story via Sims, I’ve not been good at keeping it up. It’d be a shame if I’d put in all this work only to abandon it because I don’t feel like keeping up with a story, so...I don’t know. I’ve got time to figure it out, though, because I’ll be building for a while. *laugh*
jennamaxon replied to your photo “An “expanded” Strangetown. What will be an all-deco military base is...”
I've been dropping hood deco (meshes) a short space in Milkshape - it seems to work. I think there was a post by Criquette about it
Yeah, unfortunately my skills with meshes are non-existent. The only thing I’ve ever done in Milkshape is to add preg morphs to clothing meshes, and that was eons ago. So, my confidence level for messing with hood deco meshes is not high. :) But there is lots of hood deco that I’d like to lower so they don’t float as much, so...maybe one day. :)
katatty-main replied to your photo “An “expanded” Strangetown. What will be an all-deco military base is...”
i think rural charm will work, based on memory! looks really cool so far. i need to experiment with "off road" lots more
I’m kinda in love with “off road” lots. I mean, I’ve got a whole neighborhood that’s completely off-road. It just adds a whole different feel to certain lots. It’s great for really rural neighborhoods because you can have lots far apart with no visible roads around, and you’re not limited to building just where the roads are, but it’s also good for urban areas when you want to fill in big squares on the map but you don’t want to put down a huge lot or fill in the area with hood deco. You can fill it up with lots instead. Of course, if you do that too much you’ll choke the game...but you can do that with lots of high-poly/high-res hood deco, too. Anyway, yeah, I definitely recommend playing around with it.
serabiet replied to your photo “An “expanded” Strangetown. What will be an all-deco military base is...”
I'm so excited to see how this develops (and draw inspiration from the houses) 8D
I’ll be happy to fully figure out how it’s going to develop! *laugh*
And I like the houses. I’ve collected a bunch of antique plans to get ideas from and/or to build per plan, for unoccupied houses, if I’m not feeling creative. They’re no longer all “midcentury modern” style -- because really, at the time period, there were plenty of older houses around, with just a few “modern” ones here and there -- but they’ll be in a range of styles authentic to the geographical area and time period, from tiny Depression-era houses with no indoor plumbing -- Geez, at the time they fit an entire two-bedroom house into 500 sq.ft./46 sq. meters -- to Spanish Colonial style, to small “tract” bungalow kinds of houses that were built for returning GIs immediately post-WWII, to the (somewhat) larger modern-ranchy “rambler” kinds of places that became popular in the western US in the mid-50s.  (The Beakers are getting one of my RL BFF’s house, if I can make it work; it’ll need lots of CFE. They live in Santa Fe, about a 3-hour drive from the Roswell area...which is a short drive as things go out here. :) The house is Spanish Colonial, built in 1927. It’s got this tower with window slits over the entry vestibule and several outdoor courtyards/terraces, so it looks sort of castle-y, but it’s in a style that has actually been built often in the US Southwest. I’m really hoping I can make it work in-game.)

Move Out Cleaning: Moving isn’t easy, the last thing you need to worry about is getting the old/new home cleaned. Leave it to the professionals, let the experts at MCC Cleaning Omaha take care of the move-in / move-out cleaning for you.
Whether you’re a renter moving out or a landlord with a new tenant on the way. The move-in / move-out cleaning is important.
When a place gets rented it’s crucial that the new resident moves into a clean space. As a renter, it’s important to clean on the way out to get the deposit back.
Either way, the move in / move out cleaning is crucial.
What’s the difference between a move-in / move-out and a regular cleaning?
Move Out Cleaning services: The standard cleaning is for general upkeep. This includes cleaning the countertops, floors, bathrooms, kitchens and other standard cleaning items you’d expect.
When doing a move in / move out cleaning there are some extra considerations taken to make sure the residence is ready for the next family.
Move in / Move Out cleaning includes
·         Everything in the standard cleaning
·         Dusting ceiling fans (as needed)
·         Dusting window sills
·         Dusting blinds
·         Cleaning the inside windows panes.
·         Cleaning baseboards
·         Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
·         Extras Available Upon Request

Remember, these are NOT included by default. Please, let us know if they’re needed. 🙂
Pro-Tips
Move Out Cleaning companies Woodbine: We’ve done a lot of move-in/move-out cleanings and know a thing or two about making sure they go smoothly!
Leave a key: Most move-in/move-outs are for empty homes. It can feel like an eternity waiting through an hour-long arrival window in an empty house. Especially if the Internet has been shut off! Because of this, we always suggest leaving a key to get in. Either under the mat, in the mailbox, or in a lock-box if ones available. Just let us know in the comments where the key will be. 🙂
Have running water and power: Often we won’t have running water or power when we show up to a move-out cleaning. It goes without saying, not having power or water makes for a not so great home cleaning. We need both for a successful cleaning! If you’re having either of these turned on, make sure to schedule the cleaning for at least 24 hours after. If the water is being turned Tuesday schedule the cleaning for Wednesday at the earliest. This way the utility company has plenty of time to turn things on and will save us all headaches later.
Leave a few days after in case a re-cleaning is needed: If your lease is coming up or you’re handing over keys. Always try and leave a few days after the cleaning just in case we need to go back. If you require a re-cleaning and are giving the keys back in a few hours we might be SOL!
Schedule other services on different days: If you’re planning on having movers, carpet cleaners, or plumbers schedule them all on different days. It’s difficult to clean when other services are working. We also know they feel the same way. Make sure we all get a little bit of space so we can do a great job. 🙂

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MOVE IN MOVE OUT CLEANING SERVICES
What is included in a move out cleaning?
Move Out Cleaning: All Move-In or Move-Out Classic Package Cleanings will include the following: Dust Top-to-Bottom: every horizontal and vertical surface from ceilings to the floors, including fans, light fixtures, blinds, cabinets, baseboards, etc. Wipe Mirrors, Glass Doors. Vacuum Inside All Cabinets, Closets/Shelves, and Drawers.
How much does a move out cleaning cost?
Move in move out cleaning services: Cleaning services can provide deep cleans for your old home. Move out cleaning costs somewhere between $150 and $250 on average, will $200 being the rough price for a 1,000 sq. ft. home. Of course, if your carpet is heavily soiled, or you need a clean deeper than the Mariana Trench, then the price might go up.
How long does a move out cleaning take?
When calculating how much time a thorough clean will take, a good rule of thumb with a four-person cleaning crew is 60 minutes for every 1,000 square feet cleaned during an initial deep cleaning. This time is due to the well-orchestrated, team approach to cleaning.
Do you tip for move out cleaning?
$10 to $20 per cleaning is a good ballpark range. If you have a home cleaner year round, it is probably not necessary to tip each time. Instead, you can give a cash bonus or gift at the end of the year. This is a nice way to show your appreciation and make the house cleaner feel good about his or her service.
How much should I pay for move out cleaning?
Move Cleaning: Get a more accurate price with our move out cleaning calculator. However, if you need additional services like: Carpet Cleaning – Anywhere between $75 and $200 for a whole house; otherwise, $.25-.50 per sq. ft. is a good rule of thumb. Furniture – Expect at least $50 and at most $100 to de-stain and de-stench a couch.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT MOVE-IN / MOVE-OUT CLEANINGS
Q: Am I required to be home for the cleaning?
A: No, it’s perfectly acceptable to give the cleaning team access without you being present. We’ll even lock up for you when we’re done.
Q: How long will the cleaning take?
A: Move-in/ move-outs require more detail work than a typical cleaning. Because of this, we always assume a move-in/move-out will add an hour or two to the time of a standard cleaning. A 1 bedroom / 1 bathroom would take around 2-3 hours where a 3 bedroom could take up to 4 or 5 hours.
What’s NOT Included?
We get a lot of questions about certain tasks in regards to move-in/move-out cleanings. Because of this, we’ve felt compelled to add a few notes on what’s NOT included in a move-in/move-out cleaning.
Outside Windows: We don’t carry equipment and aren’t insured for cleaning the outside windows. If there’s dirt or grime on the outside it may leave the inside windows looking dirty after we’ve left. If you need help cleaning the outside windows, let us know. We’re always happy to refer to a business we know and trust.
Carpet Cleaning: We don’t carry equipment for steam cleaning or carpet stain removal. For serious carpet stains or if you’re in need of a steam cleaning. Please, contact a carpet cleaning specialist. If you’re looking for a referral, we’d be happy to provide one!
Other Things: There are a number of things we can’t help with due to lack of equipment or for safety reasons. The full list can be found here. If you have any questions about what is or is not included. Feel free to reach out directly and ask.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

·         Clean bathroom vanity, tub, mirrors, toilet, shower tracks, hand wipe bathroom baseboards, and interior and exterior of bathroom cabinets

What is the difference between deep cleaning and move out cleaning?
Move out cleaning includes a more detailed cleaning touching more areas of the home. Move out cleaning includes additional tasks such as in cleaning of bedroom baseboards, cleaning the laundry room and living room cabinets, interior fridge cleaning etc...
Why should I hire a pro to do my move-out cleaning?
Moving is already an exhausting process, without adding a deep cleaning to your to-do list. Bringing in a pro to do the cleaning can help you stay focused on all the logistics involved in getting your belongings from your old home to your new one.
What happens next? How long will the cleaning take?
You'll get an email from your house cleaning pro to confirm the appointment date and time, size of your home, and other details. When the pro arrives they will review the scope of work with you and discuss how many hours the cleaning will take. Prior to the pro beginning your cleaning you should discuss any priorities or tasks that fall outside of the listed scope of work which may result in an updated price.
Should my house/apartment be empty prior to the cleaning?
You'll want to have your house/apartment be as empty as possible so the pro can clean all areas of your home thoroughly. Not having cabinets and closets emptied will prevent the pro from touching all areas and may result in a price adjustment.
MOVE OUT CLEANING COST: WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT TO PAY?
In the United States, nearly 6 million new and existing homes are sold each year. Add to that amount the number of people coming and going from apartments and other rental properties and you begin to appreciate the fact that people are moving constantly!
For better or for worst, every year a countless amount of people are tasked with packing up their homes, restoring them to pristine condition and hauling all of their valuables away into new spaces.
And in case it wasn’t obvious, all of that packing, cleaning, and moving can be a serious pain.
Fortunately, there are services that exist that can help you with all of your home cleaning needs.
Below, our team has created a comprehensive guide on what a typical moving out cleaning cost might be and whether or not pursuing these services is worth your money!
FLAT AND HOURLY MOVE OUT CLEANING COST
When you are trying to figure out what a move out cleaning cost might be in your area, you’ll likely be presented with flat or hourly rates.
With a flat rate, you’ll need to describe your home to the cleaning service you’re engaging and they will give you a unique quote based on the amount of labor they estimate.
An hourly rate’s base, on the other hand, won’t vary based on your home size. It will, however, differ from cleaning service to cleaning service and be affected by the average cost of goods and services in your area.
To give you a number to work with, a well-priced move out cleaning service Woodbine Iowa area will run you about $25.00 – $55.00 per hour, or more depending on special needs or requirements your home might require.
MOVE OUT CLEANING COST PER ITEM
Some people are just looking for their cleaning service to assist them with the cleaning of specific items (for example, cleaning a stove or refrigerator).
To help you get an idea of move out cleaning cost on a per item basis, below are some categories coupled with some information on what cleaning costs might be in association with each of them.
Kitchen Move Out Move in Cleaning Woodbine
Kitchens are a common pain point when it comes to move out cleaning for both homeowners and renters.
Within the kitchen, refrigerator and freezer cleaning will typically run you $25 and over. We recommend that all items be removed from your kitchen and freezer prior to requesting professional cleaning to avoid incurring miscellaneous charges.
Ovens are another tricky appliance that you may want to get professional help with. Expect to pay in the vicinity of $25 for an internal oven cleaning which includes cleaning of its bottom drawer, drip pans, and behind the unit.
Your kitchen’s cabinets can also get cleaned professionally and prices may vary based on how many cabinets you have. For a standard home, expect to pay $40 or so for thorough cleaning and disinfecting of cabinet spaces.
Garage Move Out Move in Cleaning Woodbine
Garages are prone to attracting a lot of dust, bugs, and other undesirable filth that a professional cleaning service can manage on your behalf. What’s important to note with garage cleaning is that cleaning fees are typically quoted assuming that you’ve already emptied your garage out.
Cleaning for an empty garage will run you $40.00 and up.
If you need help packing your garage, expect to pay packing fees on top of your cleaning fee. Packing fees are typically offered by cleaning services and will be roughly $20.00 per hour.
Patio Move Out Move in Cleaning Woodbine
If your patio has seen better days, you can have a cleaning crew come in to de-web it and give it a sweep. Prices for patio cleaning will depend on its condition but should run you $35.00 and up.
Pets
We all love dogs and cats but we also all know that they can wreak havoc on the cleanliness of your home. If you have pet-related cleaning issues you need help with like the removal of hair throughout your house, charges can start at $25 and go up from there depending on the number of pets in your household.
Miscellaneous
General wall cleaning is a task that can get requested for any number of rooms in a house. Unfortunately, given how variable house sizes can be, we can’t give you an average price.
Your best bet is to discuss the square footage of your house with your cleaning crew and get a quote.
If you need help cleaning your blinds (which can get exceptionally dusty) you can expect to pay about $45.00 to have all of your blinds thoroughly serviced if you have a standard sized home. Again, prices can vary if your house falls above or below average size.
Finally, if you need help with laundry, some cleaning services can help you out on a per load basis. A load of laundry will run you roughly $25.00 and up.
Be prepared to provide your own detergent for this service and to have your dirty clothes prepped in a basket.
WRAPPING UP MOVE OUT CLEANING COST: WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT TO PAY
Move out cleaning cost is variable from area to area and from company to company. In summary, expect to pay either a flat rate given the size of your home, an hourly rate or expect to pay per item prices if there are specific things that need attention.
Ultimately, the time you’ll save by hiring a cleaning service and the maximization of the security deposit you’ll get back make bringing in a team of professionals well worth the cost!
If you live in the greater Woodbine area and need your home cleaned because you’re moving out or just because you’d like to revitalize your living space, our team at MCC Cleaning Omaha has you covered!
We’ve been saving people like you time and money on security deposits for years.

Move Out Cleaningservices: The standard cleaning is for general upkeep. This includes cleaning the countertops, floors, bathrooms, kitchens and other standard cleaning items you’d expect.
When doing a move in / move out cleaning there are some extra considerations taken to make sure the residence is ready for the next family.

·         Everything in the standard cleaning
·         Dusting ceiling fans (as needed)
·         Dusting window sills
·         Dusting blinds

Pro-Tips
Move Out Cleaningcompanies  Council Bluffs IA: We’ve done a lot of move-in/move-out cleanings and know a thing or two about making sure they go smoothly!

Move in move out cleaning services:Cleaning services can provide deep cleans for your old home.
Move Cleaning:Get a more accurate price with our move out cleaning calculator.

To give you a number to work with, a well-priced move out cleaning service Council Bluffs IA area will run you about $25.00 – $55.00 per hour, or more depending on special needs or requirements your home might require.
Kitchen Move Out Move in Cleaning  Council Bluffs IA
Garage Move Out Move in Cleaning  Council Bluffs IA
Garages are prone to attracting a lot of dust, bugs, and other undesirable filth that a professional cleaning service can manage on your behalf. What’s important to note with garage cleaning is that cleaning fees are typically quoted assuming that you’ve already emptied your garage out.
Cleaning for an empty garage will run you $40.00 and up.
If you need help packing your garage, expect to pay packing fees on top of your cleaning fee. Packing fees are typically offered by cleaning services and will be roughly $20.00 per hour.
Patio Move Out Move in Cleaning  Council Bluffs IA
If you live in the greater Council Bluffs IA area and need your home cleaned because you’re moving out or just because you’d like to revitalize your living space, our team at Lincoln Handyman Services has you covered!
We’ve been saving people like you time and money on security deposits for years.

Date (Hansol smut mais conhecido como vinho tainha e muito sexo)
Tumblr media
Hope you like ^^
- Adm Boonon -
Tumblr media
You were happy. Hansol had said he was going to take you on a date tonight. Giving the final touches you got up and left, finding Hansol on the side of your door.
"How long have you been here?" You asked, evidently surprised.
"Time enough". He laughed and kissed you. "Let's go?"
You nodded and grabbed his arm, heading for the car.
The dinner went on quietly until Hansol took his hand.
"Y/N ... I have something to tell you ..." His countenance was serious, which made your stomach became nervous.
"Wh-what is it?"
"I was thinking of leaving SM." As soon as he spoke, your eyes widened.
"B-but why?"
"It's just ... So many years have passed and while everyone is doing something, I am always forgotten."
"Hansol you can not just give up on everything." You took your hand out of his. "All the effort you've had, will you throw it all away?"
"No! I was just thinking and ... "He looked at you. "Why do you care so much?"
"Because I was the one who supported you all those years, who helped in everything you needed, that comforted you when you were down." You tried to control your voice.
"I hoped you would support on what is best for me."
"That's why I'm against it," Hansol said nothing else, but you could feel that the mood had changed. "I wanna go home."
"Okay." He paid the bill and you both left the restaurant.
Opening the door to the apartment, you took off your shoes, not caring about Hansol, who was doing the same behind you.
"Y/N." He called as you started walking toward the bedroom. "Are you really going to do this?"
"I'm angry." You entered in the bedroom but kept the door open. In the background you wanted Hansol to come and you two would make up.
You went to the bathroom to take off your makeup, returning to the bedroom just to see Hansol sitting on the bed with a sad puppy face. You restrained a smile and began to undress without looking at him.
As you struggled against the zipper of your dress, Hansol got up and helped you out.
"Thank you." You said in a low voice and removed the dress from your body. Unexpectedly, Hansol hugged you from behind, leaning his head against your shoulder.
"Y/N please do not be mad at me. I don't think about actually getting out, but it's something that sometimes goes through my mind. "
"I know, I'm sorry. I should have been more understanding instead of fighting you. "Turning around, you ran your hands around his waist.
Hansol kissed you calmly, bringing you closer to his body. Your hands went up to the nape of his neck, lightly pulling his hair.
Hansol leaned you against the wardrobe, sticking his body into yours. A low moan left your mouth when you felt the cold of the wardrobe on your back. Your hands ran down Hansol's chest, pulling off his shirt.
Hansol made a trail of kisses and bites on your neck, making you pant. Picking you up, Hansol put you lightly on the bed. He unbuttoned his pants and lay on top of you, kissing you again.
His hands found the clasp of your bra, opening it and tossing it into a corner of the room. With his lips, Hansol left light marks around your breasts. His left hand ran down your body until he found your panties. His fingers entered, making a loud moan come out of your mouth.
"I-I need more," Hansol smirked at your request and picked up something on the nightstand.
He removed his underwear, making sure to put the condom on slowly, just to make you wetter. He tore your panties with care and entered calmly.
Your nails found his arm, squeezing lightly. Hansol gasped, holding tightly to your waist.
His movements grew faster and faster, making you crazy.
At that moment, you were screaming his name, coming close to the climax.
"H-hansol, I-" He cut you off as soft lips came against yours.
And with that you released, scratching Hansol's back, making him moan. With a few more thrusts, he released too, falling on your side.
He hugged you, letting the sleepiness take over his body.Your arms went around his waist, letting the warmth of his body take over yours.
Portuguese ver.
“Certo.” Ele pagou a conta e vocês saíram do restaurante.
Abrindo a porta do apartamento, você tirou logo os sapatos, não se importando com Hansol, que fazia o mesmo atrás de você.
“S/N.” Ele chamou quando você começou a caminhar em direção ao quarto. “Vai mesmo agir assim?”
“Eu estou irritada.”
“Eu sei, me desculpa.
Nesse momento, você estava gritando o nome dele, chegando perto do ápice.
“H-hansol, eu-“ Ele te cortou quando os lábios suaves vieram de encontro ao seus.
E com isso você se desfez, arranhando as costas de Hansol, fazendo-o gemer. Com mais algumas estocadas, ele se desfez, caindo de seu lado.
Ele te abraçou, deixando o sono tomar conta de seu corpo. Seus braços encontraram a cintura do moreno, deixando o calor do corpo dele tomar conta do seu.

Top 10 Affordable Small Towns Where You’d Actually Want to Live, 2019 Edition
iStock; realtor.com
Small-town America is making a big comeback.
No, we’re not sounding the death knell for big-city living just yet. But after years of losing residents to bustling urban areas and their equally bustling suburbs, the nation’s smaller municipalities are again tempting more Americans with the seductive lures of greater affordability and a simpler way of life. In 2017 populations of these closer-knit enclaves began rising for the first time this decade, according to the latest U.S. Census data available.
And why not? There’s plenty to love about these all-American locales where home prices are way more reasonable, crime is low, public schools are decent—and you might actually know the first and last names of all of your neighbors. And their kids! Even younger, first-time home buyers are coming to grips with the fact that leaving the city behind doesn’t mean leaving behind fun, culture, beauty, connectedness, and even—dare we say it?—a bit of excitement.
They just need to know where to set their sights—and we’re here to help.
So, for the third year running, realtor.com® set out to find America’s best small towns, places that could melt even the calloused hearts of the most die-hard urban dwellers.
“Moving to a small town lets people afford a quality of life that is really appealing and lets them feel like a part of community … in a way that so many young people are looking for today,” says Winona Dimeo-Ediger, editor of Livability.com.
“Millennials, in particular, are very focused on affordability,” she says. “By moving to a small town, their basic cost of living is low enough to travel and go to restaurants.” Imagine!
To create our list, we looked at more than 500 U.S. Census–designated micropolitan areas.* Then we factored in the following criteria** to come up with our rankings:
Median home list prices on realtor.com
Low unemployment rates
Low violent crime rate (e.g., assaults, robbery, homicide)
Low property crime rate (e.g., burglary, vandalism)
Home affordability (percentage of income that goes toward mortgage payments on median-priced homes in the local market)
Two-year home price appreciation
But we didn’t stop there. We dug deeper to find the places that offer residents something extra: one-of-a-kind festivals, quirky mom and pop shops, surprising foodie destination spots. And yeah, a Spam Museum.
Sick of your big-city rent? Let’s take a tour of America’s best small towns.
Top 10 Affordable Small Towns
Tony Frenzel
1. Boone, IA
Median home price: $134,500 Population: 26,484
Boone, IA
realtor.com
The first weekend after Labor Day is when Boone, about an hour northwest of Des Moines, comes alive. It’s the start of the town’s annual Pufferbilly Days festival featuring everything from a 5K run and motorcycle show to live polka performances and—wait for it—a spelling bee! Since the 1970s, this event has paid tribute to this historic coal town’s railroad history, which includes being a major stop along the Union Pacific Railroad.
“Boone is a community that represents Iowa in everything: past, present, and future,” says Greg Piklapp, a Boone city councilman. To put the town’s future on the right footing, it has used its close proximity to Iowa State University Research Park, 15 minutes away in Ames, to attract agriculture and bioscience companies.
The strong industries have pushed the median household income here to $57,906, which is higher than the rest of the state.
Story Street, the town’s main drag, is lined with two-story storefronts with flower baskets hanging from their light poles. Down the side streets are big, two-story historic homes with front porches, priced around $100,000. Folks can also snag two-bedroom apartments with a white, subway tile backsplash in the kitchen for $600 a month.
Hometown perk: All aboard! Folks can hop on the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad, a sweet evening ride in a historic train cart that includes a good dinner.
2. Van Wert, OH
Median home price: $94,600 Population: 28,217
Three-bedroom ranch in Van Wert, OH
realtor.com
When Jerry Mazur, now 78, wrapped up his final project in New York City as manager of an elevator installation firm in 2000, he and his wife moved out of their $10,000-a-month Manhattan apartment and set off for small-town living in Van Wert. They relocated to slash their cost of living and be near his wife’s mom, but didn’t know what to expect from the town, 40 minutes southwest of Fort Wayne, IN.
“As an outsider I found people warm and friendly. … It is easy to integrate into Van Wert,” says Mazur. So easy, in fact, that in 2016 he took over as mayor of the town.
Van Wert was the cheapest town on our list, but it offers big-city amenities, including the Van Wert Civic Theatre and Wassenburg Art Center, as well as a quaint Main Street lined with storefronts dating to the 1950s.
Housing runs the gamut, from three-bedroom ranch homes priced around $100,000 to new construction. The Landing at Dickinson Farms, a new subdivision, will offer up to 300 suburban, single-family homes and condominiums from $160,000 to over $200,000.
Hometown perk: The Van Wert Community Dog Park, a fully fenced canine mecca paid for by community donations, now hosts the annual Dog Bone Hunt each Easter.
3. Decatur, IN
Median home price: $117,500 Population: 35,491
Three-bedroom home listed for under $140,000 in Decatur, IN

If you’re making the two-hour trip from Indianapolis, you’re going to pass plenty of cow pastures, corn and soybean fields, and grain silos on the way. In many ways, this is your prototypical small Midwestern town.
But Decatur, founded in 1836, has its own unique vibe, too. On the weekend places like the Riverview Tap, a bar with some great live music, are packed. People like to cut loose here.
Decatur’s biggest selling point is its price tag—cheap even for Indiana. Finding two-bedroom homes in town for under $70,000 isn’t hard, and buyers in their 20s are common. The town is working on revitalizing some of its older neighborhoods, thanks to a grant by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation in 2017.
Hometown perk: Late October marks the start of the Callithumpian Festival, featuring zombie walks, haunted wagon tours, costume contests, and a huge parade. Yup, they take their Halloween seriously here.
4. McPherson, KS
Median home price: $158,800 Population: 28,708
A hundred-year-old, four-bedroom home in McPherson, KS

If all of the 20-somethings whizzing by on road bikes isn’t a dead giveaway, then surely places like the Craft Coffee Parlor spell it out: This is a college town. About an hour north of Wichita, it’s home to McPherson College and the Central Christian College of Kansas, boasting about 1,600 students between them.
“McPherson, KS, is one of the most progressive small communities in the Midwest,” says Anne Kirchner, with the McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Like many college towns, there’s a big range in home types and prices. They range from stately, two-story, 100-year old homes with front porches around $165,000 (perfect for a professor) to five-bedroom houses going for $115,000 that seem designed to accommodate multiple college students.
McPherson boast a strong cultural arts scene, with frequent performances at the McPherson Opera House and traveling exhibits at the McPherson Museum & Arts Foundation.
Hometown perk: The town’s Hemp Victory Garden sells all sorts of cannabidiol oils that don’t require prescriptions.
5. Los Alamos, NM
Median home price: $375,800 Population: 18,738
Homes in Los Alamos, NM

The country’s best and brightest physicists headed to Los Alamos during World War II to help develop what would become the nuclear bomb. And today it still remains a hub for high-paying science and tech jobs, with the Los Alamos National Laboratory being its top employer. Not only is this the most affluent small town on our ranking, its median household income of $110,190 is among the highest in the nation.
And while homes here aren’t cheap, they’re much more affordable than in Santa Fe, about 40 minutes to the southeast. The median home price there is $594,100.
“The lab recruits worldwide,” says Joanie Ahlers, economic development administrator for Los Alamos County. “We have a  steady stream of young families moving into town.”
A classic Los Alamos home sits atop the town’s many cliffs, and has breathtaking views of the New Mexico canyons and terrain down below. And folks here have a lot of time to take in those views: Last year realtor.com ranked Los Alamos County as one of the top 10 counties where people live the longest.
Hometown perk: International swim teams from places such as Belgium and Japan train in the local Aquatic Center, a top-notch facility with Olympic-size pools.
6. Austin, MN
Median home price: $115,000 Population: 39,566
Austin, MN

Austin flies in the face of stereotypes about small towns in decline. Construction crews are hard at work here, putting up a $35 million, 100,000-square-foot community center that will include everything from indoor running tracks to warm therapy pools. It’s slated to open later this year.
So why is Austin, nearly two hours south of Minneapolis, doing so well? It’s home to the headquarters of Fortune 500 packaged food maker Hormel. The company spends millions improving the community and attracting talent.
“People from everywhere come here,” says Kristen Olson, a community concierge at the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce who helps newcomers transition to living in the town, including those in refugee resettlements. “We have some 50 languages spoken in our schools.”
Home buyers tend to live in cozy, century-old, two-story houses that go for around $90,000.
Hometown perk: Two words: Spam Museum.
7. Williston, ND
Median home price: $240,000 Population: 33,349
Ranch home in Williston, ND
realtor.com
Williston has seen a modern-day gold rush thanks to the North Dakota oil boom that started in the mid-2000s. The population jumped 49% since 2010.
It’s now packed with great jobs, pushing the median household income up to $89,874. That’s higher than big cities like Minneapolis and Chicago.
But those bigger paychecks haven’t come without some growing pains. Some folks have struggled to find affordable apartments, and the influx of students created a teacher shortage. And when oil prices took a hit in 2015, so did the city. (But it was a momentary setback: North Dakota oil production hit a new record in December.)
When all the new folks started moving to town, builders put up ranch homes with bright and open floor plans. But Williston has managed to retain its small-town charm.
Hometown perk: Check out the classics, muscle cars, choppers, and rat rods at the annual Chokecherry Festival Car & Bike Show
8. Mexico, MO
Median home price: $94,800 Population: 25,641
Ranch home in Mexico, MO

For one week each summer, Mexico is transformed from a quaint, quiet community into a giant beauty pageant filled with baton twirling, vocal solos, and clouds of hairspray. The town, about two hours northwest of St. Louis, has hosted the Miss Missouri pageant since 1970. The winner goes on to compete in Miss America.
Home buyers who want lots of neighbors can choose from two-story houses near the city center with wraparound porches built in the 1930s that go for around $60,000. Meanwhile, those seeking more peace and quiet can score 3,000-square-foot, custom-built ranch homes surrounded by woods for around $250,000.
There are all the hallmarks of a classic small town: a mom and pop tire repair shop, a bowling alley, and a miniature golf course. But for more elevated pursuits, there’s also the Presser Performing Arts Center, which holds art classes for locals and hosts dance performances.
Hometown perk: Quirky history—the town was established in 1836, the same time that Texans lost to the country of Mexico in the Battle of the Alamo.
9. Merrill, WI
Median home price: $145,000 Population: 27,838
Merrill, WI
realtor.com
This haven for history buffs is located along the banks of the Wisconsin River. Merrill boasts six buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Lincoln County Courthouse, a Beaux Arts–style building with a grand clock tower, and Merrill City Hall.
Buyers who dig the town’s past can snag two-bedroom homes built in the 1920s and ’30s that need some serious fixing up for under $50,000. And on the outskirts of Merrill are 1970s-era ranches with two-car garages going for just under $200,000.
This cozy river town tends to attract families keen on enjoying the outdoors. On the weekends you’ll spot ’em hiking through the pine trees in Council Grounds State Park, a 500-acre park just minutes from the town’s center. Or maybe Mom and Dad will sneak out for drinks at Sawmill Brewing Co.
Hometown perk: Drink cheap beer (it’s Wisconsin!), and throw darts at All Aboard, a good, old-fashioned dive bar.
10. Andrews, TX
Median home price: $232,000 Population: 17,722
Andrews, TX
realtor.com
This first oil well was drilled 90 years ago in Andrews, located in the heart of West Texas’ Permian Basin. It’s no wonder this town, about 40 minutes north of Odessa, is full of good-paying trucking, engineering, and oil field jobs. The typical household income is $70,753 here—topping incomes in cities such as Austin and Dallas.
Andrews is no stranger to boom-and-bust cycles. After some down years following the low oil prices of 2015, things are looking up again. List prices on realtor.com have soared 30% over the past two years. Passing cattle ranches, oil diggers, and that West Texas grass-coved desert landscape, home buyers can find lots of ranches priced around $230,000 on the outskirts of town.
The character of this town can be summed up by its Wild, Wild West Fest. The annual festival, held in April, includes two-steppin’ under the evening stars to country music, a barbecue cook-off, truck and tractor pulls, and, of course, goat roping.
Hometown perk: The steak fingers at Buddy’s Drive-In, founded in 1969, are a local obsession.
* This is a government definition that includes a core community plus the outlying areas with a total population of between 10,000 to 50,000 folks. We included only one place per state to achieve some geographic diversity.

August 26, 2020; Wednesday
In February I came back to work from furlough. I had thought that I’d post something on the blog at that point, but everything at the park was quiet. The other permanent park guide and I were covering the information desk at the joint USFS/NPS headquarters building because the employee who normally worked there had moved on to a real ranger job at Yellowstone. The highway through the park was still closed (and would remain closed for many months) and there was very little traffic, either on the road or on the telephone that we answered.
As February turned into March we all started hearing about a new disease that had landed in Washington state just at the end of January called coronavirus. The three of us (one USFS employee and we two NPS park guides who work the joint information desk) were the only people who worked directly with the public at the headquarters building. We understandably felt concerned about how we were working with the public as the news about the pandemic became more dire with each passing day. There wasn’t much being said about the risk we were exposed to from the higher ups from either agency.
In March I got onboard an airplane and flew from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Phoenix to attend NPS Fundamentals. From Phoenix a bus picked me up (along with about thirty other NPS employees) and drove me to the Horace Albright Training Center on the south rim of the Grand Canyon.
Fundamentals was something I’d been told to look forward to because it was a great opportunity to network and explore another national park while getting paid to be there. Nearly all of us in that cohort were concerned about what DOI and the NPS were going to do to protect employees who work with the public from contracting the coronavirus. While we were in class all of us were issued iPads for working on certain projects. I was not the only person who, when the instructors turned their backs, changed the screen from displaying whatever PDF or PowerPoint we needed to the latest news reports to see what was going on outside of our insulated world in training.
By and large Fundamentals was a good time. There were some interesting NPS employees I got to meet, like the law enforcement ranger at the Herbert Hoover homesite in West Branch, IA, or an employee from Great Smoky Mountains who runs a pack animal train, or another employee who works at the Harpers Ferry Center and provides supports to parks that need help designing museum exhibits or creating park films. I got to spend free time walking around the south rim watching the sunset every night and avoiding elk in the dark who use the same trails people do. (Or is it people using the same trails that elk do?) Even though the studio apartment they put me in had a kitchenette, I still ate out most nights at restaurants on the south rim. On my weekend I even ate a fancy breakfast at the El Tovar Hotel with some of the other Fundamentals students before going to the Desert View Watchtower.
Of course there were parts of the class that I did not enjoy. Mostly I was envious of the “mid-career” students who got to leave the room to go focus on topics like supervising and being an agent-of-change in a change-resistant bureaucracy. Instead of learning about working for the NPS in those moments, I (and the other “new employees”) worked on something called “pulling it together” where we created our own national park. In these sessions I learned valuable things that as a seasonal NPS employee I didn’t know. Things like how the National Park Service is part of the Department of the Interior, or that law enforcement means police. I’m not sure how valuable this “pulling it together” bit was. With the exception of a handful of students the people who were in the room with me had worked seasonally for the NPS for many years and knew the essentials.
On the second day of our second week of class, though, the superintendent of Horace Albright Training Center came to class and announced that we needed to leave the room and call our home parks to make sure we had arrangements to get on an airplane the next day and fly home. The decision had been made that most non-essential work--like Fundamentals--did not need to continue in the face of a worsening global pandemic. So I went to my studio and called one of the representatives from the NPS’s travel agency and booked a flight for the following afternoon. It was a short stay at Fundamentals.
Upon returning to Washington state I was immediately turned into a teleworking employee and stayed at home. I had one day where I was able to drive to the visitor center in the park and borrow a computer monitor and keyboard to give myself a real home office setup in our spare bedroom. (I was very thankful that when our district interpreter left last fall she let me buy her desk from her.)
At this point I could have been more diligent about updating the blog. But working from home everyday quickly became a boring blur. I slept in an extra hour, made breakfast that I carried to my desk where I logged in to my work account and then spent the day managing the park’s social media. (In other news I, a technical employee at the GS-05 level, am the park’s de facto social media coordinator.) I became familiar with the red-tailed hawk that hunted in the backyard, as well as the two horses in the neighboring pasture, and the habits of our cat (he’s an indoor-outdoor cat again) as he patrolled his turf. I also, unfortunately, became familiar with the habits of two coyotes that walked into our backyard on a near daily basis. They, in turn, became familiar with me coming outside and chasing them off. At 5:30 or 6:00--depending on how productive I felt that day--I’d log off and walk into the kitchen for supper.
The more time I spent watching the backyard, the more I decided that this year would be the right year to grow a garden. The landlords gave us their blessing and at the end of April I dug up a 16′x8′ patch of ground between a nectarine tree and two peach trees. The waning weeks of April and most of May was spent starting seeds indoors, hardening them outside on the porch, and then transplanting them to the garden. We were very ambitious and planted lettuce, spinach, cucumber, carrot, beans, watermelon, tomatoes, sweetcorn, pumpkins, and delicate squash. One of my wife’s coworkers later donated a pepper plant that was added to the garden. It was impossible to think in may when the seedlings seemed so lonely in the dirt that by the end of August that 16′x8′ bit of ground would be overflowing with produce.
By the end of May--I believe I counted 40 days of working from home once my regular days off were deducted--we all returned to work. Seasonal rangers had been told that park housing was not available and that they would have to secure their own lodging. Unbelievably every single seasonal ranger found a place to live. In early June the park was allowed to increase access to day use and eventually overnight use and things returned to “normal.”
At this point I also could have been better about updating the blog. But I got busy with mentoring the new seasonals and volunteers. Just like every year there were growing pains that had to be worked through as people adapted to a different way of doing work that they had done for years in other parks under other supervisors. Visitation picked up fast. Every day felt like the 4th of July. Campgrounds were full even on week nights. We all noticed that we were feeling more exhausted than normal. Thoughts of taking time to update a blog kept getting pushed further and further down the to-do list. Most of my time off has been spent trying to recuperate from the latest week of work.
Because our division’s #1 goal is campground operations, all of us interpreters are tasked with doubling as visitor use assistants. At least one day a week we work with the camphosts to update reservations and assist visitors who have flat batteries or just can’t understand why so many other people are trying to camp on a Thursday. We also spend one day a week in the park’s busiest campground staffing an information kiosk. That’s probably the worst job this summer. At least eight hours locked in a box with visitors lining up who are more and more frustrated with their inability to find a campsite because other people made reservations before driving to the park is not a fun experience.
On Monday I was in this position and overheard a visitor talking to a VUA outside of my kiosk-cum-prison.
“Excuse me,” the visitor said, “why is the campground full?”
“Let me tell you, we’ve been so busy all summer. People who were stuck inside all spring just really want to go camping,” the VUA answered.
“But why are they here? I’ve lived nearby for years and years and this is always such a quiet campground,” this visitor said.
“Well, people like being by the water. This is a good campground by the water,” said the VUA.
“There are a lot of campgrounds by the water. That’s no reason for people to be here,” spat the visitor.
“Well, let me ask you this. Why are you here?” asked the VUA.
At this point the visitor turned around a walked away saying that she wasn’t trying to start a fight.
That’s been the theme this summer. Every visitor is incredulous when they see how packed the roads, trails, and campgrounds are. The looks on their faces all say, “I can’t believe I’m not the only one who thought going for a hike/camping trip would be a good way to spend a summer post lockdown. Do other people really have the same ideas as me?”
On the bright side, very few of the visitors are those insane people who feel oppressed by wearing a face covering. Most people are perfectly pleasant.
With Labor Day looming on the horizon I’m hoping that things begin to calm down. Local students won’t be going to school in-person, but they’ll have to be home or somewhere with a solid internet connecting come the Tuesday after Labor Day when they return to classes. Maybe then we can start unwinding.
Until then all of us are running a little bit more ragged than normal.
