Look at the level of detail, the little tear on his gloves, the damage to the upholstery of the seats... I don't draw, but I know a lot of artists find drawing cars in 2d difficult, and their GUN jeep looks so good, and they look so good, and their heads together with his arm around his head makes it shaped like a heart and-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

And his expression is so perfect because he's trying to focus on the road and what they're doing, but he's also like, "oh my God, she's hugging me, this is not a drill," and she's so HAPPY, and their faces are squished together and- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Adventures in the Wanderer’s Library. 

The Library is home to many fantastical Patrons and creatures alike. This work references over eight different tales and over ten different authors! Damian is a fictional character. Nothing about him is real and he doesn't have the same rights a real person has. No fictional character does. The law about transformative works in the US and in Europe says that anyone can write anything about any fictional character. Politeness is to tag the writing accordingly, and untagged smut is very rare. If you don't like nsfw Damian stories, don't read them. It's not your place to tell others what to write or read.

While I may disagree with most of this, I do agree wholeheartedly that Damian is a fictional character. He is not inspired upon any real people (to my knowledge, if that is off lmk). I’ll give you that. However, blatantly stating that it means that you can do whatever you want to his character is wrong. It makes people think that it is okay to hypersexualize children. 

First of all, your understanding of the Transformative Works Laws is completely skewed and needs to be set straight. These laws can be in relation to how people portray characters through fanart or fanfiction, yes, but are predominately there for the use of parody of certain plotlines, characters, and ideas, to allow artists/comedians/etc to reference the lore without having to pay copyright fines. However, those laws are dependent upon different companies and how they pursue legal action. These fluctuate from company to company. Yet, in more than half the world, there are countries with laws against child pornography that undoubtedly outweigh the legal boundaries put up by the TWL.

You specifically mention US and Europe as two locations as to where these laws protect those who write nsfw materials for characters like him. Let’s start with the United States. The Department of Justice draws a bright line as to where it is considered child pornography:

“any depiction of a minor under 18 years of age engaging in sexually explicit conduct is illegal” 

Any depiction. This includes pieces of writing and could undoubtedly pass along to fanfiction. And by “Europe” I can only assume you mean the EU, in which they have had a law applied since 1989:

“Child pornography [is] pornographic material that visually depicts or represents a child involved or engaged in sexually explicit conduct”

Most smut falls under this category. So the laws you attempt to hide this under are easily outweighed by other laws that should protect minors from being exposed to such disgusting content.

And not only is all of this considered illegal but also is morally corrupt. Under the assumption that it is okay to portray minors in such a manner hypersexualizes them. Impressionable children who come across this can develop ideas of how they should be viewed, and assume it is okay to be involved in sexual manners at such young ages. Not to mention how this effects CSA survivors, who have to see material like this. There are tons of posts you can find on this website alone that will go into better depth as to why fiction actually does effect people’s psyches, a topic I do not want to dive into at this point.

The reason why I made the original post was because an untagged fic came up on my dash under the “Damian Wayne” tag. It’s disgusting that people think it is okay to make this child, aged 10-14, engage in sexual acts to appeal to their perverse fantasies. Whether you tag it or not, it is wrong. You should not be trying to portray a child in an oversexualized manner, let children, even if fictional, be seen as children. Otherwise, it lets people think it is okay for children to be used for their own sexual fantasies/consumption. And do not even get me started on aging him up and how that is it’s own shade of ugly.As my good pal Ellie has said, “If legality is the only thing piloting your morality then you have no morality.”

By you telling me that it is “not my place” to tell people to not read/write/engage with pornography about children, when is it my place to get involved? Am I to stand aside as people talk about how “sexy” it is for a 13 year old to be shirtless? 

I am not going to stand aside when I see a child being hypersexualized.

All in all I cannot believe you genuinely came onto my blog to try and tell me that it’s okay to write smut for children. If you do find yourself on my blog again, please do me a favor and block me. That goes for anyone who thinks that smut about minors is okay, to any degree. Damian was just one example I saw, this goes for any fictional or real child.

Some people like to say they were just torn off, but others like to blame it on those wretched creatures that Wanderers have taken to calling bibliovores.” - I won’t say what our version is, but Pages are inspired by insects, if that helps.
