Celebrating Canada Day my way. Biked thru town for the celebration then hit the track, easing into 400 meter repeats and testing out the hamstring after 4 weeks of rehab. Slow, but smooth. Any day I can run, is a great day. Now biking to the beach for a swim, then back to the house. Tomorrow whitewater kayaking and downhill mountain biking. All within a 7 mile radius from the house. #fitfam #canada #vancouverisland (at Comox Valley Sports Centre)

I always believed that in the future, with technological advances and access to near limitless information that people would grow, that society would improve. I thought people would become kinder to each other and more understanding. I thought faith would strengthen compassion and science would work to understand the origins of the universe to help all humans find peace in their existence, free from myth, illusion or any sense of emptiness or despair. In short, I thought people wanted to be better and to help each other, to be nice to each other. But now that a future has arrived, I see widespread, manufactured misunderstanding. I see obvious untruths held fast or ignored. I see adults defending viewpoints in ways they would never let their children argue. I see narrowly framed and misrepresented counter views deliberately manipulated to manufacture, exaggerate and divide good people and work them into a frenzy and then hold them apart to keep them from tearing each other apart. I see the unintelligent, uninformed and uneducated oblivious to the subtle and overt manipulation. I see emotional humans believing with all their heart that they are informed, while the other side is manipulated. And rather than hating the manipulators, we hate each other. Rather than seeking truth together, loving each other we shout our virtual reality facts and alternate facts into the scrum of public opinion. This is what I see today. I blame myself for not creating a better reality and not holding that vision, not building that world. Perhaps, I can see a nearer future, one step closer to the ideal that my childish self once believed in than we are today. #yoga #fitfam #love (at Courtenay, British Columbia)

Sunset in the Canadian Rockies, Fernie, British Columbia. Fear and curiosity pull like tides and currents. Your ability to survive, thrive or die depends on your knowledge of the forces acting on you and knowing the appropriate response. I hope you explore your limits, recognize life's dangers and opportunities and life, fully, completely, with love. #rockymountains #yoga #fitfam (at Fernie Alpine Resort)

What good is money if we sacrifice our health and the health of our planet for it? Protect our environment, support scientific research and development of sustainable energy. Mount Rainier is one of the most impressive peaks in North America, rising over 14,000 feet from the surrounding sea level coast of Washington state, whereas the Colorado Rockies rise from a shelf almost a mile above sea level. This was the closest view I could get because all the approach roads are still closed due to snow. #fitfam #yoga #earthday (at Mount Rainier National Park)

Regardless of what sometimes overwhelmingly negative evidence tells me, I believe in human potential. I believe in our ability to develop higher consciousness that elevates every one of us to greater than what we are today. The solution demands both deeply personal questioning, searching and evaluation and development of broad awareness of our relationships and our contributions to every relationship, the cause and effect of action and reaction. Mankind are a fabric, interwoven and your heart is within mine but I can't always feel it's beat. When I am hurt, I am blind, deaf and dumb. Often acting instinctively, unaware of the pain I cause. But when I am well, I can see. I can feel. I can evaluate and understand. When I am well enough to see, when you hurt, I hurt, so I use the advantage of my perspective to try to help you in a time of need. I believe in your potential, I believe in mine. Holding on, against all odds, I hold on for love, though I often fall short, I grow stronger every day. I love you. #yoga #fitfamily #love (at Mount Washington Alpine Resort)

At the end of the hardest days on the mountain, when it's been dumping pow for days and my legs are spent and my arms ache, and I can barely drag myself back to my truck, it's nice to know my gear will still perform.
