forever thinking about that one time a white transmasc film bro tried to convince me that there was no such thing as ‘the male gaze’ and also that fetishization of any sort couldn’t possibly be dehumanizing and that these terms were therefore useless in analyzing cinema (and all media) because “Tom of Finland fetishized gay men in a way that had positive connotations and therefore fetishization of anyone (women, people of colour, people with particular body features—anyone marginalized or not) is good, actually”

#by forever i mean that i think about this guy…once a week #probably #twitter discourse breaks your brain irreparably i fear #he also aggressively argued that the concept of the male gaze was trans.andro.phobic so that was funny #y’ever meet men who go out of their way to reinvent misogyny and hating feminism #ngl this is the guy who made me realize how completely misogynist the idea of trans ‘misandry’ and ‘trans.andr.ophobia’ were #sad it took until then but uhhhh. way to reinvent being an MRA but for trans people #also one of the moments that made me realize i needed to get off of twitter #twitter sucked before musk got his grubby little hands on it and sometimes i think nostalgia makes me forget that #i do not miss mainstream social media at all lol #but i miss some of the friends i had there
