there is NO such thing as unskilled labour

#the problem is the entire notion that an ‘entry level position’ doesn’t deserve a living wage and fair compensation#anyone who is doing a job deserves to get paid. yes even in an entry level position#yes even when they’re ’just washing dishes’ or ‘just flipping burgers’#no company wants to pay wages anymore

big fan of urban fantasy and similar genres because theres nothing funnier to me than a setting where youve got people fighting with enchanted blades and bows and hopping around doing magic tricks but you can also just hit a demon with your car if you feel like it

I still can't believe we let the broader LGBT sphere get away with "hating men means hating trans women" for so long

Maybe it’s just me , but I get annoyed when a guy who is canonically broke is drawn in fandom as a trans dude that’s fully medically transitioned. His ass cannot afford that.

without fail when you point out to most white women that their privilege as a white person is the most salient part of their identity they get really, really angry
#v annoying actually#i am so keenly aware of what a privilege being white gives you#the kind of privilege that whiteness gives you is unparalleled#the only thing that confers a similar amount of privilege is wealth

I’m not implying you’re a man. I’m saying you’re clearly privileged in some capacity—in this case I’m assuming it’s whiteness
that’s what i was thinking of when I wrote those comments. not masculinity but how extremely fucking white and settler your mentality seemed to me
and congrats—your little “did you just assume my gender” response really cements it
Try internalizing that arguing with other queers on the internet about theory is not the same as activism.

We have this interesting situation where we basically no longer have privacy nor the expectation of privacy, but we also don't have community or meaningful connection with others, so we're all simultaneously both completely exposed and absolutely alone, and please understand that when I say this situation is "interesting", what I in fact mean is that it's "nightmarish and I wish I could wake up"

No, tumblr user, I don’t think the hatred of trans women is cemented on the hatred of men. I believe, god forbid, it might be based on the hatred of women.

the problem is that sometimes the guy with seven crumbs personally takes it upon himself, with his big ego, to aid and abet the jailer at every term
arguing with quislings isn’t activism
but calling out bootlickers and calling in quislings and demanding that they show true solidarity (and not throw the rest of our community under the bus in their reach for respectability) keeps us safe
an easy example of this is homonationalists
the average “gays for trump” homosexual is just as loathed by the conservatives of the USA as the rest of us queers are. they’re just as at risk of losing marriage rights as other lgbtq+ americans, and roughly equally likely to have their sexuality criminalized
they make reduced wages compared to cishet people
but they also are very easily tokenized and pointed to as an example of how “gay people can be normal, too” they’re the preferred DEI hire at a company that doesn’t want to employ trans people, or more flamboyant gays who “make sexuality into their lifestyle”
and they use their relative privilege (or privilege adjacency) to prop up the system that harms queer people
so yeah. arguing with a homonationalist gay (and likely transphobe etc) isn’t activism
but letting them into our community & including a quisling like that in our activism isn’t good either
so many of the intracommunity arguments i see on here occur because people are being actively transmisogynist. Or because white queers are being egregiously racist
and when trans women speak up or queers of colour speak up and say “hey can we get some solidarity here?” Then more privileged queers turn around and say “don’t call me out on my bigotry!!!!! Infighting isn’t activism!!!!!”
idk like. If your activism doesn’t centre the most marginalized people in your community: congrats. that’s not productive either
refusing to let yourself be called out or called in isn’t activism
being reactive when someone points out your privilege isn’t activism
lots of things aren’t activism
what matters isn’t that some people have a bit more privilege than others: what matters is what you do with the privilege you have
and when someone says “hey maybe don’t use your whiteness, or the fact that you’re tme, or your wealth in order to further the marginalization of people more vulnerable than you AND don’t use your (relative) privilege to reach for respectability & power by capitulating with hegemony” that actually FUCKING IS ACTIVISM
calling people in is activism
asking people to check their privilege IS ACTIVISM
and if you can’t embrace that this is what solidarity is based on—a willingness to be accountable to your community and to reduce the harm your privilege can cause—then you are no comrade of mine
Try internalizing that arguing with other queers on the internet about theory is not the same as activism.
#anyways the examples OP gave here indicate that they 100% just want to shut down discussions about privilege and intersectionality#which could mean nothing#but it doesn’t does it#this post reminds me of when white commies in my local labour organizing spaces kicked out Indigenous comrades for being ‘divisive’…#because they were talking about landback and decolonization and the resulting white guilt was ‘derailing’ our work on unionization#people calling you out for your bigotry & the way your privilege can cause harm isn’t ‘fighting’ nor is it counterproductive#stop using the fact that some people are ultra-privileged compared to you as a means to dodge accountability lmao#goddamn
