Update on ants:

Sprayed my shaggy rug with vinegar and water mix the other day, didnt seem to do anything. I've now folded it up and placed it in the living room for now. There were a few ants under the rug, since its in front of my bed I decided to finally move my drawers and move the shit and boxes I have under it.

1. Found dry cat vomit under my bed, ty Kaneki

2. There were a good amount of ants under my bed so I squashed them and sprayed most of the floor under it with the vinegar mix.

So we'll see what happens next.

It means showing up, taking to fans, meeting them and signing for them, talking to them telling them about his projects, like most idols do when they meet their fans on the streets or in Cafés they chat and exchange info and take pics and sign autographes, also sending pics, doing lives, making a youtube channel or Vlive and posting his making film of his album and preparation,doing vlogs etc.. idols are self-Promoting themselves recently didn't you see it became a trend. All idols have their own channel on YouTube or Vlive, IG or Twitter accounts in which they promote their projects. And even go on variety shows to promote. Ksoo can at least make an iG to promote himself or Twitter !🤷🏻‍♀️ Don't tell me SM won't let him make one coz they wanna sabotage him 🤦🏻‍♀️ HE DOESN'T WANT TO. IT'S CLEAR! he doesn't wanna interact with people it freaks him out. And he isn't too good with self-Promotion so let's wait and see what SM would do for him. haikyuu!! music idol au (karasuno ver.)

at long last here it is!! also most of this is based on my knowledge about kpop groups and the industry (as a kpop fan) but i made a lot of tweaks and i’m basically imagining this in a world where the kpop industry wasn’t so hard on its idols and churning out commodities. but yeah! this is going to be the first part of a series so stay tuned for more! also this is p long because i added hc’s for kiyoko and yachi >~<

okay so in my head karasuno (or KRSN im sorry im bad at coming up with names) is like one of those really large groups that hav sub-groups kinda like NCT

they're from a fairly small entertainment company called umm KS Entertainment (im sorry im bad at names hnghn pt. 2)

its headed by ukai who's also like a really awesome choreographer and takeda who's like YG if YG had an exact opposite really kind twin who actually values their idols

(sorry im really salty)

takeda is honestly the sweetest, he's responsible for scouting and judging auditions

he'll basically let anyone who appears to put their all in pass the audition

he also likes to take care of all the trainees and make sure ukai hasn't made them dance to death

production crew are: ennoshita, kinoshita, and narita

kinoshita's like responsible for planning the concepts for every comeback

sometimes he thinks of really wild ones and ukai's jus like whoa there lets tone it down a bit

narita tag-teams with kinoshita by being karasuno's amazing stylist

his favorite person to style is suga but dont tell anyone that

and lastly we have ennoshita who singlehandedly produces every track on every album

he's also a really good vocal coach

and he's very tired because he's the producer and he also has to deal with tanaka and noya knocking on his door every five minutes

subgroup (night) KRSN-N

consists of: daichi, suga, asahi, noya, and tanaka

ok so karasuno has basically two main types of concepts: night (which is more like rugged and bad boy) and day (which is more boy-next-door and sweet)

the night subgroup has like a very strong rap line consisting of daichi, noya, and tanaka while for vocals we have suga and asahi

daichi is their leader ofc

he, suga, and asahi were in the same batch of trainees and had to (survive) live with each other for quite a while

his rap skills are really consistent and he has really good flow. also tends to start off their songs

his dancing skills are also impressive and basically just a great all-around guy

he's also really stressed from managing his group members esp because they're all children

asahi is one of their only two vocalists but he also has some good skills with music production and likes to work with ennoshita

he has a really deep but mellow voice

really shy when it comes to being onstage and meeting fans but he has the sweetest smile

tanaka is part of their dance line because boy can he bust out the moves

doesn't mind performing without a shirt. kinoshita has styled with him just wearing a jacket most of the time

his stage presence is just woah

the kind of performer who'd really get up close and personal with cameras and also people's phones

everything about him screams bad boy except for when he's really sweet in fansigns

noya is like their lightning-fast rapper who always comes in during the bridge

takeda heard him rap for barely a minute and quickly signed him in

more often than not enters the stage while piggybacking tanaka or asahi

also an amazing dancer who does all the gravity defying flips and jumps

he was invited more than once to collab with other artists

he and tanaka are trainee buddies and were inseparable ever since they ran into each other naked in the shower room

now for suga

he's like main visuals also main vocals also main dancer

was talented ever since he sprouted from the womb

he actually didn't audition his mom posted a video of him covering 'euphoria' by jungkook which takeda happened to come across

his voice is very high and he often harmonizes with asahi during the chorus

also tends to be really affectionate with daichi onstage and everywhere basically

so many 'daisuga being karasuno's parents for 15 mins' videos

subgroup (day) KRSN - D

NOW WE HAVE THE CHILDREN CHILDREN

okay so these guys have been together since their trainee years and basically had to live in the same room

which was like chaotic because they were always fighting and only yamaguchi knew how to do laundry so everyone was trying to be his friend

until daichi and takeda gave them a little pep talk so they don't hate each other so much now

n e weigh

first up we have yamaguchi who is basically jus very boy-next-door and also the unofficial leader of the group

he has an amazing voice and can hit the highest notes and he has a tendency to wink at the cameras

main vocalist and visuals

his fans love him because he's just so sweet

sometimes daichi comes in to check on how he's doing and treats him to a meal

he likes to check on other members during live shows

looks stunning in white suits also the fans made a petition for him to grow out his hair and now his hair is long

he and tsukishima have both dreamed of becoming idols and auditioned together

tsukishima's the main (only) rapper of the group

my brain: hnGhh rapper tsukki nskdkssm

he had to work on his stage presence but when he finally Got It he is such a master at it

also had to work on his dancing because he looked like a wiggling beanpole at first

most of his lines are actually written by him esp because he didn't want to say anything that felt embarassing for him and ukai was like 'why dont u write ur songs then?' and he's like 'mAYBE I WILL'

hinata's our other main vocalist, also main visuals and main dancer

his voice is p ordinary but whats great about him is that he's able to keep it consistent while busting out the hardest moves

personally learned a lot of his dancing from noya and tanaka

also he's always in the center because he's short and he looks adorable

he can nail the high notes too btw

he's the kind of idol who has the most random and funniest videos on twitter

kageyama's like their genius maknae

he had been training for such a long time and he actually wanted to be booked for another entertainment company but was rejected (hmm i wonder which company this was ??)

but he was a fan after seeing suga practicing when he toured the company and decided to join KRSN

he's in the vocal line as well and also main dancer

his voice is a lot lower so he harmonizes with yamaguchi and hinata

he and hinata were very competitive when it came to dancing during their trainee days

but they balance each other out pretty well and like to choreograph dance breaks together

super shy around fans and fansigns

most of the pics of him have kageyama doing the peace sign because he's awkward af

KRSN as a whole

takeda and ukai really encourage all of them bonding together and taking breaks in between all the stress of practicing and performing

they all live in one big house and its really chaotic

very few people know how to cook and do laundry

also there is an average of 2 accidents per week

but they do get along when it comes to practicing for the next comeback, especially when the subgroups have to collab

ennoshita's studio is a mess of sticky notes and crumpled up paper with probs asahi, daichi, tsukishima, and ennoshita napping on a couch

suga loves being able to train hinata and yamaguchi with vocals and they have a project of covering a new song every week for the fans

tanaka, noya, kageyama and hinata also spend a lot of time in the dance studio

whenever there's a new song they like to come up with movements to add to the choreography

after a really hard day of dancing they end up falling asleep in the studio and waking up to take-out courtesy of takeda

photoshoots and styling sessions take forever since there are so many of them but also its a good time for the members to get some sleep

but kinoshita and narita do not but in the end its all worth it when they see the photos and the reactions from the fans

their music and performances are very varied since they like to show that they're versatile as much as they can

they don't really prioritize being precise and flawless, more on channeling the emotion of their songs and power in their dances

no two performances of the same song are ever the same 

KIYOKO

okay so takeda also had this genius idea of bringing out solo acts and after another round of auditions, kiyoko caught his eye

she's a bit older with idol training and recently left the group she was supposed to debut with because the company didn't treat them right

my girl kiyoko knows her rights

she's basically an all-around talent: good at singing, dancing, rapping, and visuals

takeda knew he would be dumb to overlook her and even though they've mostly been producing boy bands, maybe they'll have success with a solo female idol

kiyoko was very clear abt wanting to have more control over how she was going to be presented and also wanted the opportunity to write her own songs

and takeda and ukai were jus like well yeah duh, that's why we scouted you

kiyoko was like an immediate success

her style is def very sassy and sexy, especially with her dancing ability

kind of like Chungha or Hwasa

but her fans also like her more melancholic and deep songs that are accompanied by her piano playing

she's also super confident and loves to use her platform to empower women

sometimes she does get together with the KRSN members

she collabs pretty often with suga esp when it comes to dance covers and performances

the day she asked tanaka and noya to be back-up rappers for one of her songs was the happiest moment of their lives

kiyoko's a fucking queen

HITOKA

because i wrote hc's for kiyoko i have to make one for yachi too

she's quite interesting because yachi joined like one of those idol training shows and kiyoko happened to be a guest judge

watching yachi sing made her sense some sort of potential so kiyoko being the bad ass bitch she is convinced takeda and ukai to work with her

yachi almost died hearing that Queen Kiyoko thought she had potential

her first years training to be an idol were really tough on her, esp since she was aiming to be a solo act

but she spent a lot of time training with the KRSN - D group and they really helped boost her confidence

everyone in KRSN and kiyoko asked their fans on twitter to support her when yachi's first album dropped

yachi's music is super mellow and light and she has a very sweet, high voice

comeback stages and music video shootings are pretty scary for her but she really shines in live, studio sessions

also knows how to play guitar

writes her own songs !!!

during her first fan meeting she prepared a bunch of presents for her fans and was scared that no one would come but a whole bunch of people did and she was so happy she almost cried

Let’s talk about ableism on hockeyblr

Alright, here’s part two of the conversations we need to be having on this godforsaken website if we’re going to look to being less toxic. Or just decent people in general.

I haven’t met a lot of disabled people on this part of Tumblr. So I genuinely feel pretty alone when it comes to this stuff.

For background: I was a pretty good athlete when I was younger. I was very good at soccer and my gym was trying to get me to go competitive gymnastics where they likely would’ve put me on the route to become an elite gymnast. As my body started hurting more and I wasn’t looking to travel and be homeschooled at 12-years-old, I turned it down and quit gymnastics. I stayed in soccer and didn’t continue playing once I was in high school and rec league wasn’t available anymore. This was mostly due to being uncomfortable with being on gender-segregated teams and also due to the amount of pain I was in on a daily basis.

I also have Type 1 Diabetes and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Undiagnosed, but working on it when it comes to having auditory processing disorder and gastroparesis (though this one I’m not totally sure on). 

I do not have a day off from counting carbs, monitoring my blood sugar, feeling sick, and being in pain. I am disabled. It’s not a dirty word, I am a disabled person.

I see so many things here that may not even totally affect me, but would affect multiple people I know if they were in this community.

My first example: putting st*rs (the word “stars” with an asterisk instead of the “a”) in the middle of different words.

Before I get into it I’m going to explain what a screen reader is and why it’s important. A screen reader is something that blind and low vision people can use to make reading things easier. It’s an accessibility tool. Have you ever been playing around with your laptop settings, accidentally select something, and now whenever your cursor is over something it reads it out loud or tells you where it is? Congrats! You were using a screen reader.

Firstly, it’s just stupid to do but that’s an opinion that I’ve talked about before.

Second, if you have any followers with screen readers, they are likely unable to decipher your post. Whatever amazing message you have about how the Blackhawks need to change their name and logo, it’s unavailable to your blind and low vision followers who may use a screen reader. Screen readers are very wondering and useful tools, but they aren’t perfect. They’re powerful, yet sometimes they get tripped up on things. When you put an asterisk in the middle of a word, it doesn’t read it like the original word, even though that’s what you meant. It messes with the screen reader and causes frustration for everyone. It’s the same thing when you use worlds like ‘folx’ (’folks’ with an x instead of the ks. Folks is already gender neutral, so you’re being performative at that point, but I digress. That’s for another day).

It might not seem like a big deal to everyone non-disabled, but I guarantee that if you wanted to trash talk a team (like literally everyone does during playoffs, for example), you’d be frustrated when everyone you want to talk to is excluding you from doing so.

Relating to this, many people don’t put descriptions for their photos. Some websites like twitter let you do this so that it’s not in your tweet but is available if you’re using a screen reader for it. I don’t think Tumblr does this, but I could be wrong. If Tumblr doesn’t, the next thing would be to put it in the body of your post or the caption. It would usually look something like this:

ALT: [This is describing the photo I just posted.]

And something I find interesting is some of the more ‘I’m very inclusive, everyone has a place on my blog’ people are the ones who do this most. 

Another thing people do is tend to assume “well, he’s disabled now, he can’t play any more games in the NHL or hockey in general.” This is something many people think, but it’s simply not true! And this is a big thing that gets internalized for even those of us who are disabled.

Disability does not equal end of career. There are multiple current and former players with type one diabetes (and, often with that comes Celiac Disease, but not all diabetics have celiac, not all those with celiac have diabetes. They’re just commonly linked!), recently Colin Wilson opened up about his life with OCD which while mental is still pretty disabling, there’s hockey for disabled people outside of the NHL, and while he hasn’t said it himself, Nolan Patrick I believe could be grouped in here with his migraine disorder that kept him out of last season.

Can disabilities be career ending? Sure. But being disabled isn’t inherently career ending.

Being disabled isn’t dirty, we’re not worth less, and we have a place in every form of sports.

Like even if you leave aside the fundamental problems with Peron and the Kirchners (or the fundamental problems I have with them), I hate that they all pretend to be something they are not.

I mean, let's take, for example, the twitter girl in my post. The one being antiblack. Her account was fulllll of tweets criticizing Michetti about her comments re: mapuches. She called her a racist, a bitch, a good for nothing ass blah blah the full thing, while saying that THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WITH CRISTINA ! . And ?? In the middle of an anti-racism rant you go off on a tangent about how you want to beat up black people? What?

The girl calling people gronchos ? Her feed was full of pics of herself attending protests for better salaries with her hair done like Eva.

I've only known my antiblack co-worker for three weeks but if anything happened to him I'd buy champagne for everyone at the office and then drink some myself. He makes a big deal about pRAYing that Cristina wins the election because the country has gone to shit with macri facho, but in my three weeks at the office he has been sexist, racist and xenophobic. He needs to say something antisemitic (would not surprise me, considering the things I've heard Ks say about Nisman) and then we'll have full bingo.

Like if they actually did as they preached, if they acted like they cared about the social justice they so supposedly stand for, then I'd at most be perplexed that they stand for ks/peron but it'd be easier to respect their stance. But being like that? Only caring de la boca para afuera? As my dad would say, standing with the left while acting with the right? Yeah. No can do.

How I see this Patreon mess...

Hey, KS Fans,

I just want to thank everyone for their support, even if you’re not a patron through Patreon. Your comments, likes, and the fact that you just read Kissing Skulls mean the absolute world to me.

I am sure you’re as upset as I am about the announcement that Patreon released about changing their processing fees. I just learned about it 48 hours ago and only this morning did my thoughts slow down enough for me to collect them here. If you are still confused, I used these resources below to understand it and try to come up with a decision of what to do.

I do not agree with Patreon’s proposed increased rates or their marketing scheme to make it look like it will benefit me, the Creator. As far as I am aware, Creators and patrons alike are furious and some part of me feels that I am beating a dead horse in speaking out, but I feel what I have to say is important.

I have emailed and tweeted Patreon about the issue and my stance. I am going to be following the discussion as closely as possible this week and things will stay the same for all my fans. I will keep drawing, posting, and creating for you and for the sake of Kissing Skulls. Update on ants:

Sprayed my shaggy rug with vinegar and water mix the other day, didnt seem to do anything. I've now folded it up and placed it in the living room for now. There were a few ants under the rug, since its in front of my bed I decided to finally move my drawers and move the shit and boxes I have under it.

1. Found dry cat vomit under my bed, ty Kaneki

2. There was a good amount of ants under my bed so I squashed them and sprayed most of the floor under it with the vinegar mix.

So we'll see what happens next.

Oklahoma State’s Samantha Show is your new queen of bat flips

Oklahoma State pitcher Sam Show is lighting up the Women’s College World Series

Calling it a bat flip is a gross understatement. When Oklahoma State’s Samantha Show hit her second home run of the day — the home run that wound up carrying the Cowgirls over the Florida Gators 2-1 in the opening round of the Women’s College World Series — she lifted the bat up over her head and slammed it down on the ground. (OSU fans have already made shirts immortalizing the moment.) Technically, the bat did flip, tumbling end over end towards the dugout as Show rounded the bases.

Was it a flip? A slam? A Gronk spike?

Show prefers “bat tomahawk.” “It’s funny, it’s something different,” she said on the phone, a few hours before her team took on top-seeded Oklahoma. “Personally, I’ve never seen a baseball player do anything like that.”

The East Bernard, Texas native is OSU’s marquee pitcher and hitter, with a 2.38 ERA, .333 average and 20 home runs after transferring into the program for her senior year. Show’s scrappy, no. 13-seeded squad wasn’t supposed to win at all in the super-regionals, much less defeat defending champs Florida State in Tallahassee. Their victory Thursday over Florida was program’s first World Series win since 1998, making the team textbook Cinderellas.

The textbook Cinderellas are still competing, hoping that their nothing-to-lose swagger will lead them to improbable triumph. Thursday’s game was hardly the first time Show has given a team bulletin board material. In fact, Show (conveniently, her last name rhymes with “wow”) has earned something of a reputation for putting a little extra juice on the bat when she knows she’s gone yard.

“It doesn’t happen every time,” she insists, explaining that she’ll only flip her bat if she knows instantly it’s out of the park — and if the run gives her team a tie or the lead. “Whenever the ball’s hit and I know it’s out, I have so many strong emotions inside me. If I could, I would just sit there and not know what to do. But obviously I have to run around the base pads, so my emotions come out in my bat.”

Just as it would in baseball, her propensity to flip has become a point of contention in softball circles. Before the Oklahoma State-Florida game, for example, ESPN spliced footage of Show and Florida pitcher Kelly Barnhill talking about their approach to one of the sport’s most infamous “unwritten rules.”

“I don’t like bat flips,” Barnhill said in the clip. “I understand getting hyped and excited, but ... act like you’ve been been there.” Naturally, they aired it again once the Florida pitcher and her team had taken the L — and one of the most memorable bat flips the sport has ever seen.

“It’s funny, because my first bat flip was actually off her last year,” says Show, who faced off with Barnhill during SEC play with Texas A&M. “I understand pitchers not liking it, but I’ve never shown up a pitcher when doing it. It’s always for the team — for the girls and for our fans. If a hitter were to do that to me, I gotta tip my hat to them. If they’re crushing balls like that off me, then I can’t be mad because I know I’m leaving pitches where they’re able to be hit that hard and that far.”

Show had never considered flipping her bat until last season when Texas A&M hired a new hitting coach, Keith Stein. Stein had played baseball for the Aggies, and Show says he encouraged players to show out more in the batter’s box.

“When we did hitting groups, he would tell us to stand in the box and watch our ball go — and if you wanted to, to just kind of bat flip afterwards,” says Show. “Honestly, I had never really seen it done in softball — and I’ve had some balls hit off me that are probably still going. I wound up being the only one who did it in a game. It just kind of became who I am.”

Flipping her bat is just one facet of Show’s larger-than-life persona on the diamond.

She favors thick smears of eye black that inevitably smudge over the course of the game. “It’s always just been fun to me — it’s like my softball makeup,” she says. “Softball and baseball are dirty sports. I don’t want it to look as good at the end of the game as it did at the beginning.” In high school, she painted a K on each cheek — one forward and one backward — and covered them with green glitter. “Because, ‘money,’” Show explains patiently.

The pitcher’s walk-up song is a remix of the theme from Saw because she wanted “something that would freak the other team out,” says Show. “Something that would catch them off guard, so they would say, ‘What are we getting ourselves into?’”

That’s the question that’s long followed Show, for reasons both good and bad. She’s tall — 6’ — strong and ruthlessly competitive, sometimes to the point of abrasiveness. The same things that make her no-holds-barred style of play so fun to watch, her fierce individuality and relentless fire, have long made it challenging for her to connect with her teammates and coaches.

“She’s kind of a polarizing person,” her coach Ken Gajewski said in a postgame press conference last weekend. “She walks to her own tune.” In the same press conference, her teammate Madi Sue Montgomery explained that they had had a players-only meeting at the beginning of the year without her. “We just let each other know that if we took what she was saying and not necessarily how she says it, it was for the best of the team,” said Montgomery.

“I know that I’m difficult,” says Show. “Growing up, when my teammates weren’t always as serious about softball as I was, I never really had a lot of friends on my team just because my main goal was winning. I wasn’t necessarily liked, but I would do anything to win.”

She was immersed in softball early; her dad was her first coach, and her two older half-siblings played softball and baseball. But even when she was just dabbling in a sport, from basketball to bowling, her father insisted that she push herself to be great. Show credits him for her drive.

“He wouldn’t let me mess around, he wanted me to be the best,” she says. “By the time I was in middle school P.E., I would be out there with the boys throwing the football around and getting upset because they wouldn’t catch the ball, or playing dodgeball and literally throwing the ball as hard as I could because I wanted to win that badly.”

Male friends provided some solace. “I would go to watch them play baseball and wish that I could be out there with them, because of how competitive they were,” says Show. She also loved watching MLB players, and still takes them as a model for how she approaches the game.

“I really admire the way that baseball players play with so much swag and confidence,” she says. “Some of them are cocky and arrogant, but if that’s how you’re going to be you definitely have to back it up with how you play. They’re being true to who they are and having fun playing the game.”

Somewhere along the way, she lost that swag — the swag that came from breaking into the starting lineup as a freshman in high school and earning countless all-state honors, the swag that had her painting green glitter Ks on her cheeks because she knew she was money. At Texas A&M, she never performed to her own incredibly high expectations. “Going into college it was just a whole different world, and I was trying to be someone who I wasn’t,” she says. “The competitiveness in me kind of went away.”

Show went to her mom, who told her, “I want you to go out and be 10-year-old Sam.” “When I was younger, I threw hard but I never knew where it was going,” says Show. “I was effectively wild. But I needed that — to just kind of let loose and throw the ball as hard as I can and not really care what happens. I wish I would have done it sooner.”

Then came the bat flips, the Saw theme and ultimately her transfer to Oklahoma State, where she says that she found a staff that would be real with her. “[Gajewski] has honestly been the only person who would say those kinds of things to my face, and I think that goes to show what kind of coach he is,” says Show. “He didn’t shy away from the challenge, if you will, of coaching me. I would hope that I’m not as difficult to work with now, but I don’t know,” she concludes, laughing.

Now, Show has taken on a leadership role by encouraging her teammates to — you guessed it — flip their bats.

“If there’s one thing I can really get across, it’s that you’re going to be the happiest when you’re playing as you and not trying to conform, or be a cutout of who coaches want you to be,” she says. “You have to have so much confidence in this game, and there are a couple girls on the team who I could tell right off the bat didn’t have that confidence. You have to go in there thinking you’re the best hitter — that you’re better than that pitcher in the circle. Hitting home runs is hard. You don’t necessarily have to flip your bat but if you hit a home run, admire it and be proud of what you just did. I think we should admire our hard work.”

Show knows that attitude puts some people off, that they might see it as showy or arrogant. She gets booed, and doesn’t care. “The first time, I honestly laughed,” says Show. “In my head, as weird as it sounds, I was like, alright, I’ve made it. Like, people are watching me and they don’t necessarily like what I’m doing, but they’re watching me.”

Thanks to her bat flip, there are certainly a few more eyes on the Women’s College World Series. “As crazy as it is, there are a lot of people on Twitter who are like, ‘Now I’m going to start watching softball,’” Show says. “It’s growing the sport — for good or bad, at least people know that the World Series is going on right now.”

Show’s bravado and swagger have put her on the map precisely because so far, she’s been able to back up her big talk and bigger flips. Fittingly, her Twitter location is “BIG BALLER ATTITUDE” — an allusion inspired by exactly what you would expect.

“I’m a huge supporter of the Ball family,” says Show. “Lavar Ball and his attitude — the Big Baller way, just knowing you’re the best. That’s kind of how I’ve taken this year, just knowing that if I’m facing a batter that I’m better than them and when I’m in the box, I’m better than that pitcher. Reminding myself to be the best that I can be, and reminding myself to attack every day with confidence that no one is going to beat me at what I do.”

Joe’s Weather World: Some interesting radar signatures (THU-4/18)

Good Thursday…in a weird way the grass sort of needed a drink of water and mostly it got it across a good chunk of the region. Some didn’t get much at all but others had well over 2″…mostly towards the south side. There were some interesting storms on radar…including two particular times that we’ll discuss in the blog today.

Cooler weather has moved into the region and aside from perhaps a few isolated showers in the “heat” of the afternoon and early evening…not much is expected and the data today shows that the holiday weekend is shaping up to be mild and dry too.

Forecast:

Today: Partly cloudy and cooler with highs in the 50s to near 60°. There may be an isolated PM shower

Tonight: IF there is any activity that moves/fades away and it will be chillier with lows near 40° and some 30s are possible towards daybreak as well. Some may have some patchy frost.

Friday: Nice and pleasant with highs in the low to middle 60s

This weekend: Milder with highs in the 70s

Discussion:

Overall yesterday turned into mostly what was expected. Some severe thunderstorm warnings…some 1″ hail reports…not many wind reports and some locally heavy rains.

There were a decent number of severe thunderstorm warnings…and things got going between 5-7PM…then there was a noticeable lull before the front hit the region and as we say…there was “sunset” magic and boom storms re-fired right at sunset and we had more activity and more widespread activity from 8:30>1AM.

For the KC metro…few, if any, wind reports of significance. The hail reports were in the late afternoon around KC…so all that evening activity didn’t create any severe weather within the metro at least.

The storms that did produce hail in the late afternoon…were interesting to look at on radar. There was a small part of Jackson Co that did have some larger hail. Some ping pong ball sized hail was reported towards Troost and Rockhurst and also south of the “K”.

When looking at radar as that happened…there was an interesting signature showing up…something referred to as a ��flying eagle”. I’ve seen these signatures before but don’t remember seeing one recently within the KC Metro. Maybe I just didn’t notice it in the past but I noticed it yesterday. It is more commonly referred to as a “V”-notch because IF you use your imagination you sort of see a V.

The V-Notch, or “Flying Eagle”

This radar signature does not necessarily foretell a tornado like the previous signatures, but it is usually only seen with the strongest and tallest of supercells, characteristics that correlate with those more likely to be tornadic.

The v-notch, also called the “flying eagle,” is a v-like pattern seen in the upper part of the precipitation shield (usually northeast of the hook echo area of the storm). This v-pattern occurs when the updraft of the storm is so strong, and the cloud itself is so tall, that upper level winds are forced to be deflected around the core of the storm effectively spreading the precipitation outward. A very cool signature if you see it on radar!

Now you know…

One note…IF that would’ve happened along the interstate as rush hour was evolving that would’ve been a MESS. Folks would’ve blocked up the roads under the overpasses to shield their cars from the hail and that would not have worked out well.

Then there was nothing for a few hours…a bit surprising I thought…then there was a LOT all at once.

The stronger storms were towards the SW of KC. One storm towards Franklin/Anderson Co was rotating and prompted a precautionary tornado warning down there just after 9PM. At 9:30 there was a funnel cloud report towards the Richmond, KS area…but as far as I know there were no touchdowns and no wind damage.

That was when you are in the thunderstorm mode…that you switch gears and go into tornado mode while you’re on the air. It’s essentially going from 10 MPH to 60 MPH in a minute or two.

The whole time this was a “doppler” indicated suspicious area. So you have to be careful with the wording you use. There was no reports of anything overly concerning for a long time but by the same token you don’t want folks there to ignore what was happening. At the same time I’ve seen better “looks” to the radar so I didn’t want to overly play my hand…and again still get folks to a safe place IF they were in the warning itself. Sometimes it’s a delicate balance. Plus this was a sparsely populated area mostly since it was between Ottawa and Garnett.

So anyway it got a bit busy last night for about 1 hour or so…

Lots of lightning with all of this.

No severe weather is expected for awhile for us it appears…well watch the middle of next week just in case. Today the threat is down to the south…

and there may be some nasty tornadoes down thee too (again).

Tomorrow that risk shifts towards the east.

Overall the next work week will need to be monitored for heavy rain potential. There are signs that a front may stall near the KC region and that is a heavy rain set-up in the spring and summer months. We’ll see about how that plays out.

Dear PLL fandom,

I had no idea what I was getting myself into seven years ago on June 8, 2010 when the Pilot episode of Pretty Little Liars aired. I hadn’t read the books and I definitely hadn’t watched anything religiously on ABC Family. There was Greek, but that was on and off and no other original show on the network was able to captivate me.

My favorite show Smallville announced its final season, Gossip Girl was in between the 3rd and 4th season and another favorite, Glee, was finishing its first season.  But let’s face it, I was turning 21 and still much into those teenage, coming of age shows. Plus, Ashley Benson was my favorite (and still is). And as a huge fan, I had to support my girl!

So then the day came, the Pilot began and I was hooked. It started with 4 young girls starting a new school year one year after the leader of their pack went missing. The episode introduced us to the characters we’ve loved for seven seasons.

We were first introduced to Aria Montgomery, the artsy girl who went through a little goth phase, returning to Rosewood after one year in Iceland with her family. During that year, she held on to one huge secret: her dad’s affair with his student. Things also get complicated when she hooked up with her future English teacher, Ezra Fitz. The eye contact the two share during the revelation was one of the most iconic scenes of the series.

Next came Emily Fields, the sweet girl on the swim team, with the popular jock boyfriend.  I’d like to think she was part of a conservative family, with her mom part of the neighborhood welcoming committee and her father in the army. Life gets a little complicated when she is constantly reminded of [her love for] Alison, while a new girl moves into Alison’s old house. Sexuality is questioned and in a small town like Rosewood, that’s unheard of.

Spencer Hastings then graced us with her presence. She was almost the epitome of overachiever. With the Hastings name, you’ve got to be especially with Melissa Hastings as an older sister. Spencer was the girl involved with everything, intelligent and outspoken. She was striving for good grades to get into an ivy league college and follow in the footsteps of her lawyer parents. But then she strayed away from the perfection, when Melissa’s boyfriends decided that she may be the better Hastings daughter.

And then there was Hanna Marin, formally known as “Hefty Hanna”, who transformed over one summer to become one of the most popular girls in school. She lived in the shadow of Alison DiLaurentis. Getting body shamed by her “close” friend, her confidence and self esteem was low. Her father leaving her and her mom didn’t help, either. So Hanna’s motto was practically, “new year, new me” and with her new popular girl title along with a trusty sidekick, Mona Vanderwaal, she was able to step out of Alison’s shadow. But the whole problem was maintaining her top spot and getting the attention she longed for. Hanna Marin will always be my favorite character.

What did those 4 girls have in common? Alison DiLaurentis, the girl who knew all of their secrets. However, she was the girl they knew nothing about. She was the glue to the group up until she disappeared, but that suddenly changed when “Alison’s body” was found and an anonymous stalker decides to start playing mind games with the girls. Alison’s “death” brings the girls back together and just like that the Pilot set the whole premise of the show.

For seven years, Pretty Little Liars ruled social media. They’re practically known to be the most social television show on air, with so much social media engagement from fans. It’s safe to say that it was the pioneer of trending topics when it came to TV shows and live tweeting along around the world. It allowed fans and those involved with the show to communicate with each other. Every Tuesday since it has aired, fans have been able to get PLL trending with hashtags like #PLL, #WhoIsA, #betrAyal, #WorldWarA, #Poor[Insert character name], etc. And of course the main hashtag for this season, #PLLEndGame, which tailored not only to the game, but obviously to the PLL relationships. #Ezria, #Spoby, #Haleb, & #Emison. I was only a year into Twitter by the time the show aired, and it definitely had me talking and more active on the web. The downside was all the spoilers. But I didn’t have an issue – I absolutely loved/love spoilers.

I think people have learned over the years, that if you don’t want to be spoiled, you better stay off social media until you watch the episodes. It’s so much more fun to live tweet. That’s why I ended up having a separate twitter just for that fact.

Since the Pilot, I’ve stuck through it and my obsession for television grew stronger as I dedicated a new Tumblr to my love for entertainment: PrettyLittleGossipGleek. The name was fitting for me as it was three shows on air that I absolutely loved that made me feel more like me. I started to make gifs and fanart of my favorite moments, something I enjoyed doing and something that kept my mind off of reality. One time TvGuide used one of my gifs, #ganstAtoby, and to this day, I’m very proud of it. HAHA

Pretty Little Liars always had me at the edge of my seat with all the cliffhangers and kept my mind going, thinking of all the possible outcomes to the question,”Who is A?” I think that anything that gives you several mind f**ks is worth watching.

I watch a lot of television, and very rarely do I dream about them. Pretty Little Liars was an exception. I dreamt about running away from “A”, so obviously the show managed to sneak it’s way into my sub conscience.

But enough about me..

To the endgame couples —

Ezria: For a long time you were my favorite #PLL couple. The chemistry was unreal. I’ll never forget the first time Aria and Ezra met and the look of shock a few days later in Mr. Fitz’ English class. You were a forbidden love, like Romeo and Juliet, sneaking behind everyone’s back. It was starting to get toxic because you were holding each other back. And then the love story took a turn when Ezra was revealed to be stalking the girls for inspiration for a novel. True feelings were tested and you both entered intoseveral other relationship, but in the end you found your way back to each other. To all the haters, stop. It started off as a relationship based on lies, but the truth is that they make each other happy.

Spoby: Your relationship didn’t start from the beginning and I think that’s what drew me in to you. I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t love Alex for Spencer in the first season. I loved them and their somewhat forbidden love, but Alex left and the relationship with Toby came out of nowhere.  As I rewatched the first season, it’s clear that Spencer had strong negative feelings towards Toby. Toby was that creepy bad boy that hardly said a word, so it’s understandable. He was a suspect in the murder of Alison DiLaurentis for goodness sake. That didn’t go well with a lot of people, but Spencer, you sympathized with him and gave him a chance. Sure, you took a French tutoring job just to find answers about Alison, but I’m sure you didn’t expect to fall in love with Toby. I’m sure you didn’t expect to even like or understand him. A part of me thanks Emily for somewhat bringing you two together. When your relationship was threatened by “A”, you kind of gave up easily. You both tried to protect each other, doing things that broke the trust you built. Eventually you grew up and realized maybe you weren’t meant to be in each other’s future as a significant other. Your break up was by far the worst. It broke my heart the most, especially with the possibility that you weren’t endgame. But fate has a funny way of working and in the end, you two still shared a love for each other. That’s all that matters. In my head you make it. You were #RelationshipGoals.

Emison: You made it from beginning to end, but not without the ups and downs and occasional mind games. Emily was always so sure of her feelings for Alison. The latter not so much. Honestly, I was never really a fan of any of Emily’s girlfriends (well maybe Samara because I love Claire Holt). I always thought that Alison would one day return Emily’s feelings. But I admit, it was an unhealthy relationship. When they were young, Alison always led Emily on. She gave her hope that wasn’t really there. I mean, Alison always had Emily wrapped around her finger and Emily constantly forgave the girl. But that’s the thing about Emily, she sees the best in people and gives them [constant] chances even if they do her wrong. Although the pregnancy was pretty messed up, I’m happy that it brought the two of you together along with two cute Emison babies. Along with some instigating from Paige, it helped Alison realize her feelings for her best friend. That proposal was the cutest thing because come on…I think we all thought Emily would’ve been the one to propose. AND how cute was it that Pam gave Alison her blessing? I guess you could say you’re soulmates.

Haleb: I remember when you two first met. You were practically bickering like an old married couple and to this day you still do. Only difference is that you’re actually married now! You know what they say, opposites attract. Your relationship basically started on a lie though, with Caleb acting as Jenna’s spy. But just like Spoby, falling in love probably wasn’t part of the plan. When Caleb ran away to Ravenswood, I wasn’t sure if he’d be back (I liked Ravenswood and thought maybe it would go on longer). You were on and off and like the others, you grew up. Life got in the way. Your different lifestyles got in the way. For a short time I liked Spaleb. It was a random relationship and it caused a strain on other relationships. But the thing about Caleb is that he’s loyal and will do everything in his power to protect the people he loves and I love him for that. I love him for loving and protecting Hanna. It took me a while, but watching season 7, I finally appreciated the relationship that is Haleb. Also, I always think about how both of them were on Days of Our Lives, at different times.

To my favorite guy, Ezra Fitz: You will always be my favorite English teacher. You were straight out of college, nerdy and adorable AF. You played the girls for a little and I was Aria when the truth was revealed. But I forgave you. How can I not? I feel like you’re the one guy who had the most secrets. Maybe it’s the mystery that is Ezra Fitzgerald that captivated me because even though the series has ended, I still feel like you’re hiding something. On a side note, I miss your brother Wesley.

  To my favorite villain, Mona Vanderwaal: I love you, I really do. I could never really hate you. Even though you were the first “A” to start the game, I still couldn’t dislike you. You’re intelligent. You think outside the box. You’re prepared and detail oriented. Jealousy seeped through your blood and you wanted to be accepted. You just wanted to be loved. You went too far, but somehow you still managed to wiggle your way back inside, even though the others hardly trusted you. I trusted you many times because I didn’t know what else to think about you. I trusted you because I know you wanted to protect your “friends”. Ultimately, someone stole the game from you and you were determined to win. Your passion and drive is probably what I admire the most. In the end, I couldn’t decipher whose side you were on, but you won and got your happy ending. You’re no longer Loser Mona. You were never a loser though, just misunderstood.

To my favorite character, Hanna Marin: I see myself in you the most. Your back story hit me hardest. To this day, I still have low self esteem when it comes to my body image. But I’d like to think I’m good at faking it. You came from a broken family and you faked it til you made it. You wanted this sense of love and acceptance and it took a while for you to feel that. But you learned to love yourself and you learned to say what you feel. There were so many layers to you and I’m glad we were able to see them unravel over the seasons. You may not have been book smart, but you were street smart. You made me laugh many times. But you were also the source of my tears as I watched PLL. I never liked to see you being tortured or hurt. It broke my heart every time because you didn’t deserve any of it. The thing I admire most about you is your loyalty to your friends, no matter how many times you got hurt. Also, I wish I had your passion for fashion and all your OOTDs. 🙂

  To my favorite actress, Ashley Benson: BENZOooO. You’ve been my favorite forever. I mean, you were practically the reason why I started watching PLL. From being Abby Deveraux on DOOL to Carson on Bring It On: In It to Win It, I followed you on to your biggest project yet. We’re the same age, so in a weird sense I feel like we grew up together and a part of me wishes I was part of your #SQUAD. I was able to meet you once and it remains one of my favorite moments ever in my almost 28 years of existence. You were the sweetest person ever and i’m not just saying this because I love you. I absolutely adore your sense of humor, your style, your personality and the way you love and support your family/friends, Olive, and Walter. I absolutely adore YOU. Thank you for being my inspiration to do the things I love. Thank you for playing a character I absolutely love and connect with. Thank you for doing that epic dance scene in Season 5. And thank you for just being you and allowing us fans into your world. I love you!

To A.D, you’re awful. What kind of person wants to get rid of their twin sister so they can live in their shoes? All the awards to Troian Bellisario for bringing not just one great character, but two. Sure, Spencer and Alex looked alike, but they were so different and you were able to portray that to us viewers. The only similar thing I see between the two, is the yearning to be part of a family.

To the WHOLE cast, it’s been quite the 7 years, hasn’t it? You all practically grew up in the show, especially Sasha. To think she was only 13 when she shot the Pilot! Even I feel like i’ve grown up with you all. And then in Season 5 you started playing characters closer to your age and it felt even more relatable. Not that I have a stalker in my life, but just the fact that you were all in your twenties trying to figure out life. I lived vicariously through each and every one of you, through the drama and relationships. Thank you for bringing these characters to life and not giving up on your fans. Not only did people fall in love with your characters, but with you as actors. Even though things were so dramatic on cam, off camera you brought us some great BTS laughter and fun. It’s so great to see actors and actresses who have been on the show continue to do awesome projects. There’s a reason this show stuck around for so long and you all are why.

To the directors, writers, producers, and crew behind it all: First off, thank you Sara Shepard. Without you there would be no Pretty Little Liars. Your mind and creativity came up with this whole universe. You had these characters and constant mystery that captivated your audience. And I thank you for that. I hope one day I’ll get to reading all the books! Marlene King, thank you for bringing the books to screen. I’m pretty sure that this was one of the most popular book to tv adaptation. Thank you for taking that risk and bringing the whole team together to create the magic that is PLL. I can’t wait to see what else you have in store. And to the rest of the team behind PLL, thank you for the dedication and hard work you put behind the scenes to make sure the viewers got the best experience. From the set, the costume design, the score, the props…you all made PLL the iconic show that it is. Also, shout out to Lisa and Romy for putting up with Ashley and Shay all the time. 😛

It’s been two weeks since the show ended and I meant to post this a few days after, but I just never got to finish it until now. I think a part of me still doesn’t think Pretty Little Liars has ended. I mean, there’s so much that could happen after that finale. Alex and Mary Drake could escape Mona- I’m sure Detective Tanner is wondering where Mary Drake disappeared to and she’s a closer remember? I mean, I’m pretty excited to see the PLL reunion in the future.  It’s an iconic show and will be for many years to come. PLL’s impact in popular culture should not be underestimated.

I can’t wait to see and support each of the cast members in their next projects, but I’m sure nothing will ever replace the love I have for Pretty Little Liars.

To whole PLL fandom, thank you for your passion.

Hello All!

So! If any of you were here yesterday, you would have seen the sheer Bombing of Nagasaki that was the KS Discourse.

And, you know what? It got me thinking:

Why am I doing this to myself? Between the ‘Fuck Asexual’ sentiments and stuff like that, why do I bother staying here in a pit of tumor-ridden vipers? 

And, really, there is no reason outside of having such a strong Masochist streak and a love of being miserable. 

So, I’ve decided to take leave. 

Now, it’s going to be an initial hiatus at first just to see how I do with it. But, after that, who knows? I may be better for it and decide to stay away from here altogether. The main reason I’m not outright deleting is because I have a really good fanfiction/ship blog connected to this one and I really don’t want to mess with it. 

So, after today, I will be bidding adieu for a while.

So! Despite me being away from here, my queue still has a LOT in it. This might also be the push I need to start putting stuff on YouTube again (the channel with the same name as this blog, the Lupina09 one is pretty much an archive now) But, yeah, I’m done sharing spaces with ill-bred, ill-raised children. I did that enough back when I had that crappy warehouse job just to make ends meet.
