i’d honestly rather people shamelessly steal my gifs than do the half-assed “all credit goes to the owners 💓” bullshit. it just shows that you’re aware it’s shitty to steal other peoples work but still can’t be bothered with the 2 seconds it takes to type out their url.

#twitter is built on the back of tumblr gifmakers and they just assume the gifmakers arent on both sites and won’t see #this isnt even about my gifs lol #but i’m so irritated by it #there’s also no excuse for ‘i saved it in my camera roll so idk the original owner!’#okay so take measures to prevent that situation #on iphones (and i’m sure others) you can add captions to things in your camera roll. write down the url if you might repost them.#like the post so you can come back to it #put links in the notes app if you have to #take the 5 seconds to at least search for the original gifmaker because its probably not that hard to find #and certainly will take less time than it took the gifmaker to make the gif in the first place #there’s just really no excuse #and people will say to just watermark gifs #but people shouldn’t have to ruin a gifs aesthetic to get credit lmao #i have made 100 posts on this before and i’ll make another 100 on it in the future #it really just gets me riled up #*
