I uh… have a new favorite character to add to my collection…
I know, technically, he’s a part of Sam’s character, but still, I like to think he’s different enough.
I mean, he is a completely different side of him. I do love them both, but for some reason he just pulled at my heart and I had this sudden urge to die for him if the time ever came.

TRICK OR TREAT!! 🎃👻🍬
whiskers my dear beloved i ALMOLST wrote you a l&c fanfic but i will need you to finish the books before i show it to you.
have some mirror image instead!
“Hey,” she said, squeezing his fingers gently in hers. “What’s the matter? You can tell me anything, you know. Or— or not!” Her cheeks reddened slightly, but she held his gaze. “You don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to.” And you don’t want to, the voice told him. The less people know about our kind, the better. It’s not about that! Adrien thought back, annoyed. It’s about not being able to get Kagami out of my head. Literally! The voice paused, long enough that Adrien thought it had gone. Then, carefully, it asked, Kagami? Yes, Kagami, Adrien sent back, irritated. Ever since you turned up, I’ll get random… flashes of her. For no reason. The voice was quiet again, though Adrien could sense its presence lingering in the back of his mind, accompanied by a sense of chagrin equivalent to a wince. Well that’s…strange. Hesitating, Adrien ventured, “Is it coming from you?” “What?” Marinette asked. No! the voice answered with the force of a yell. Of course not. That’s ridiculous. Marinette’s brows drew closer together. “Is what coming from me?” “The…” Adrien looked at her again, found his palm suddenly clammy, and withdrew his hand from hers. “That smell. Your perfume, it… it smells good.” She smiled at him, then reached out again, brushing her fingertips over the backs of his knuckles. “It’s the one you gave me.” “Really?” Adrien leaned closer, the heat from the skin of her neck shimmering over his as she tilted her head for him. This close, the scent was stronger—strong enough to banish any stray thought that wasn’t about her. “I like it.” “I hoped you would,” Marinette said, grinning another pink-cheeked grin. If you carry on like that a moment longer, said the voice, I’m going to be sick.

Can I just say that I wish, I really really wish, people would quit calling 20-24 year old characters "bad" or "childish writing" for literally just... ACTING THEIR AGE?!??! Doubly if they have a disability or are specifically coded to be autistic, adhd etc.
Seriously? Is someone out there seriously implying that everyone magically matures into a grizzled, emotionally constipated war veteran the second a 19 year old crosses the threshold into their noughties?
Think real damn hard on things you did when you were younger if you're older currently. We've ALL done cringe stuff that keeps us up until the wee hours of the morning in embarrassment. Whether it be something we said or clogging up someone's toilet, puking all over the place because we partied too hard or sent literal car parts flying because you were learning to drive. You don't just snap your fingers and BAM! YOU'RE MATURE! CUE THE CELEBRATIONS!
Maturity comes from life experiences, the good times, the cringe moments and the failures. Not age. Otherwise you wouldn't have kids/teens behaving way beyond their years due to ongoing and consistent abuse/neglect, nor childish adults trying to relive their teen years at their 'prime' at the very least.
I don't care if it's a fantasy game or if it's set in the future. If a character is 21/22 I *expect* random stupidity, foot in mouth moments. I expect them to be over confident or make poor decisions at times. That's prime time to be figuring your own identity out, making yourself standalone, supporting friends via learning from said mistakes and experiences they've had. It's not supposed to be smooth or perfect.
#I may or may not be making jabs at people who dump on Andromeda's Ryder and Veilguard's Taash for being 'childish'#Can definitely vouch for Andromeda at least#For Veilguard its been stuff the youtube algorithm has been feeding me because I like games and it assumes I want to see all the negatives#Liking or disliking a character is subjective and that's fine. Not begruding that. It's the reasoning half the time that irks me#or 'criticisms'#If a character has been insulated and protected from trials/struggles/actively learning they won't have the same maturity#whereas someone who has had those experiences will often age beyond their physical years as a coping mechanism#mind you...it's not a 100% foolproof assessment#But I remember on Andromeda's release that people expected Ryder to be like Shepard#The Ryder twins were only 21 and had all opportunities to do stuff for themselves wrecked because of Alec and his research with SAM#Shepard in comparison was 28 at the start of Mass Effect and had already been through literal hell depending on their background#Ryder and Shepard were supposed to be mirrors of one another with the latter learning how to open up beyond the soldier persona#Ryder was supposed to -become- Shepard-like over time and trials#But Ryder didn't get the opportunity due to *very* bitter fandom over ME3 and wanting Shepard to play as again#tack on rushed development and pressure being put on a studio that had only ever made DLC prior and then you get issues#devs aren't completely blameless but I stick things on upper management and EA for being asses more than anything#Either way#Ryder copped it for not being mature enough then too and people ignored just how young and isolated the twins actually were from everything#Also yes I did cringe stuff too in my early 20's and yes I did have to relearn a whole bunch of stuff because autism spectrum made it worse#No i wasn't a party junkie#but yes I have sent my driving instructor's hubcap (among other things) flying#we all do and have done cringy things. it doesn't just magically stop#so no I won't expect a 21 year old to have the same level of maturity as someone who is 27/28 or older

heads up seven up
thank uuu for the tag @encrucijada <3
okay for novel writing technically the last thing i wrote was edits (not even with the intention of editing really just playing around) on the until heaven opening (which is like. months old now but i'm not ready to actually draft the story so i keep quietly tinkering with the same set of 300 words and they don't feel first draft-y anymore) and the last thing i drafted was the lover boy opening so i'm just going to share both hehe 🫶 (also because the difference in sentence structure and thus length is sooooo fun to me)
from lover boy:
“I’m good.” The man smiles like he believes him. He unzips and starts rummaging through a brown backpack and feels a need to keep a stream of words as he does so, fill the beachy quiet. How he and his friend — his best friend — had just got into San Francisco this morning. How they haven't slept and how they'd had been planning it for months, thinking about it for years, dreaming about it, how they stargazed the skyline from a gas station last night and couldn’t believe they had finally made it. Beau props himself up onto his elbows, half-listening, the man’s voice starting to blend into the waves, until he produces a Polaroid camera. “Could you get a photo of us, underneath the lights?.”
from until heaven (cw paternal death and vomit mention):
Joanne likes big parties, likes please, invite everyone! parties, likes what she calls chandelier parties: a self-defined philosophy that everyone’s lives would benefit from frequent doses of glamour, like a chandelier over an everyday dinner table. Felix has little experience with glamour; he'd brought a lemon risotto and gotten so wine drunk that, for a dizzy moment, he felt twenty-one again. He does not remember the party. All he knows is that he’s still drunk – in that half-melted, sludgy way that wine stays in you – and that right now, on the other side of the city, his sister is waiting for him because their father is dead and instead he’s here, stuck in a suburb he could never afford to live in, where he doesn’t know the way home and is still wine drunk with cherry-coloured blots down the front of his white button up which had, at some point unknown to him, become half undone. He knows that his headache is quietly growing vicious and he should take off his headphones, but they’re singing about Heaven and Las Vegas again – two places he has never been – and he knows that at some point, still unknown to him, his father died, and maybe that means he’s now stuck in Heaven or Las Vegas or somewhere in between. Or maybe that means he’ll just be everywhere, in the rain on Felix’s face and the ache behind his eyelids, and that’s how it’ll stay. It had been these revelations that woke him up before anyone else, on the couch of a seventies style conversation pit, dazed and then suddenly terrified, and it had been this terror that drove him to the bathroom because he thought he would vomit, but then didn't, and then noticed the roof was accessible through the window — which was when the cactus casualty took place — and now he's lying here, in the rain, all from a sudden and dire need for air.

I don't nod this time
I'm no stranger to the studio's interactive adventures, and they often range from the very good (Life is Strange) to the more conventional (Tell me why). Unfortunately, this one falls into the lower category… and yet we're immersed in a thriller in which our main protagonist tries to solve murders, all with the help of his mind palace, which enables him to reconstruct scenes or anticipate actions. Sounds cool, doesn't it?! if only the script and gameplay had been better worked out…
❤ I'd like to praise the dubbing actors, who succeeded in making their characters far more lively and expressive than their animated models (we'll come back to the animation in another section). ❤ Some interesting staging ideas, though too few and far between. ❤ The scenes between Sam and his double personifying his reason are the most successful; we feel the security of this voice in his head in the face of an increasingly violent and sad society, but we also understand the social isolation he faces by literally remaining immersed in his thoughts. This was really the most pertinent point of the whole game.
+/- In line with my point above, the moments when we plunge into his mind palace are also intriguing, whether to reconstruct scenes, plunge back into his memories, or confront his doubts and fears….but they are few and far between and not sufficiently exploited, even though tackling this theme of the psyche could have led to situations far richer in emotion. +/- The soundtrack includes a few nice songs, but the soundscape is very empty. I don't know if it's to suggest the bleak vision the character has of the city, but it's boring. +/- The scenery is quite beautiful on the whole, with some very successful lighting effects, but not always very detailed, and the characters' animation and expressiveness are really too bland. +/- Some characters are endearing, but none are really developed (no time). For example, Joan, the mature kid with the strong character, I only met her briefly 3 times in the game without having the time to really create a bond with Sam. Anna, with whom we spend the most time, doesn't have the most evolved dialogues with him either (even though, given their shared past, there was room for more intimate moments). In short, they're all quickly forgotten.
✖ The game's biggest problem is its length. 5 short hours to rebuild relationships, investigate (and solve) the death of your best friend and, at the same time, introspect on yourself in the company of an imaginary twin? it's impossible to have time to develop anything. Everything moves too fast, and we never take the time to experience a scene or feel anything. ✖ In general, I have no problem with simplistic interactions between several cinematics. The thing is, these are far too long (and slow) and our actions are rather boring; dialogue and story choices are minimal and exploration never adds much. ✖ How predictable is your script, were the writers uninspired or what? (found culprit second 1)
I can't say I was bored by this game (I didn't have the time to feel it anyway in 5 hours xD), but I didn't really get to enjoy it because I felt a lot of laziness in its writing and gameplay. It started from a good premise, with some nice mental phases, and I think that with more time, we could have come up with something at least interesting. My spiritual twin would advise you to buy it on sale if you're really curious about playing it ;)

Trick or treat! 🕷️🕸️
HIII PISO!! 💖💖💖💖
i'm very sorry i'm super late. just finished my report cards! have a snippet from mirror image
“I…” He cleared his throat, inhaling slowly, letting the smell of grass and sugar and flowery perfume settle through him. “I have to tell you something.” No! The voice, which up until now had been silent all day, resounded through his head. Don’t say anything. She’ll think you’re crazy. “Okay,” Marinette said. She slid her fingers through Adrien’s, her brows drawing in concern as she studied his expression. “What is it?” He tightened his grip on her hand, and his hold on his physics textbook in the other. “I, uh—well. For a while now, I’ve been having—” Shut up! The force of the voice’s vehemence made Adrien wince, but it plowed on regardless. Shut up, shut up, shut up! Do you have any idea what it’ll sound like? “I’ve been hearing voices since my father died. And weird dreams too.” “They’re not dreams,” Adrien hissed back.
