Design notes below

I thought since the xenologue world was opposite, I wanted to add some difference somniel outfits, so made his silver rather than gold. I also gave him Lumera and Sombron's colour pallet since I think it looks neat.

(also in world explanation, Nel corrupted and revived him, and Veyle, Nel, and Nil keep pouring their power into him to keep him alive, so his hair turned half Sombron coloured.)

I think at some point in this AU there would be an emblem bracelet's miracle that sorts him out and revives him, but I thought it would be kind of cute to have a sort of falling apart corpse boy hanging out with everyone else.

Also I gave him paler eyes because I thought they looked cute and creepy :D

Is there a reason you prefer m!Alear to f!alear?if there was an au with both of them how would you do it?

what do you like about both m! And f! Alear respectively? :)

I prefer the sound of deeper voices + the male FE protags are (usually) the less popular of the two, which always makes me want to give them some extra love! Other than that, I like m! And f! Alear pretty equally🩵❤️ I do slightly prefer f! Alear's outfit, but m! Alear's voice!

Honestly, I love the canon au we got through the fell xenologue, so I like pushing that concept further outside of the DLC! With the Alear's as fell dragon twins, f! Alear is saved by Lumera while m! Alear is not. He continues growing up as a fell dragon, while f! Alear kinda goes through the story as normal, with no memory of her twin, and with only a streak of red hair left after her 100 year slumber. They would meet up later in the story, reconnect their lost sibling bond that m!Alear does still remember, and take down Sombron together. I think the fact that fell dragons can turn into divine dragons is really interesting, so being able to witness m! Alear's gradual transformation into that would be really nice I think :)

Also it took me WAY too long to design the bracelet, and like. Idk if it's even good LMFAO, but the thoughts behind it were two wings, Askr motifs (ofc), opalite gemstone that resembles how orbs look, and two sapphires one blue one pink (REALIZING. I'VE MADE AN ERROR. I got zodiacs and birthstones mixed up. Oh well. Well at least it looks nice!) (<- Also sidenote all that info is based in the fanon August 30th bday for them lmfao!)

Making a modern AU of Engage is accepting that Alear's family is the weirdest thing that has happen to this franchise

Marni's one of those characters whose death and aftermath were handled really well and have no complaints about, but at the same time I can't help but wonder what could've been if she lived

Imagine, if you will, a twin au of Engage where one Alear (take your pick) ends up getting adopted by Lumera, kills Sombron, same as the main game and ends up in essentially a coma, and during that time Lumera rescues/finds the other Alear (let’s call them Raela, for the sake of this post or I’ll go insane), adopts them… and it’s a thousand years of Alear’s mom and long-lost sibling waiting for them to wake up. Also Clanne and Framme are each assigned to one of the fell twins.

But notably, Alear in the game becomes half divine and half fell due to Lumera saving their life with some of herself… which would mean that the other twin is still a full fell dragon and is very conscious of that fact. And although it’s been a thousand years and nobody would really know that Raela is fell, especially if Lumera introduced them as divine, Raela is still too scared to face the possibility of being confronted for their heritage so they’ve basically been hiding out in Lythos and there’s just rumors of some random red-haired kid sometimes being briefly spotted there during royal visits.

Also consider the pure angst of Raela remembering the horrible entirety of their life while Alear doesn’t. I feel like Raela would keep it all bottled up because it’s a chance for Alear to live a normal (or… somewhat normal-ish? Less trauma-y?), happy life.

“We meet again,” Alear greets kindly as he approaches the blond; a familiar (if only just, from their one interaction at the ball) and welcome face relative to the rest they share a group with. Where the green bandana marking them as teammates is a poor match for his own colors, it suits the other man far better— as if it were made for him, despite everyone being sorted into groups without any real rhyme or reason. Through this though, their paths have crossed once more, and he hopes they will become better acquainted — maybe even friends — with considerably more time to do so compared to the lone night in which they had met. “I’m glad to see you look well. We never exchanged names last time, so I’d been wanting to change that since.

“I am Alear, from the continent of Elyos. And you are...?”

The distinctive hair easily calls forth the memory of their previous meeting, and Andrei gives a courteous nod at the young man whom he'd met at the Ethereal Ball.

And while the continent that Alear names is wholly unfamiliar to him, it is not a surprise — he can hardly claim to have come to know more than a handful of those outside his own homeland, and has asked after the past of even fewer.

"I am Andrei," he replies, "Of Grannvale."

(Would this be similarly meaningless in Alear's mind? A part of him hopes so.)

At least, Alear looks to be more relaxed and light-hearted than he himself feels, and something coiled tight in Andrei's gut seems to loosen slightly at the sight of someone treating this situation as normal. Perhaps Professor Lambert had had the right idea, when he'd advised Andrei to speak to the others and forge a tighter alliance.

"If we are to spend this time in competition with the other teams, it is good to know that there are allies we can count on within our own team, is that not so?" He gives a polite smile, even if it is still strained at the edges, "I will do what I must to contribute to the activities ahead, and I trust it will be the same for you."
