The Dominant Template in TWD
Hey Everyone! This is a very over-arching pattern that I pinned down after 10x17 aired. So I reference that episode several times. But I reference plenty of others as well. Hope you enjoy it. It’s a new pattern you can look for!
Let’s just say that watching 10x17 and thinking about how Hershel Jr.’s arc is like Beth’s sent me down a rabbit hole and this is the result.
Tumblr media
We’ve seen this template so often, I really think this is the dominant template they use to plan arcs on the show, from minor characters that only last a few episodes to full-season arcs to Beth’s multi-season arc.
And once again, this isn’t super groundbreaking. We’ve definitely identified pieces of this before. I’m just kind of seeing it in a new light.
In each example of this template, these are the step I’ve identified as always present or present most of the time. (And maybe they’re always present but I just can’t think of how in every case.)
Basic Template:
1. New threat to the community arises.
2. TF attempts a preliminary fix to the new threat.
3. It doesn’t work, everything goes wrong, people die, and often, the community itself falls.
4. The group splits into smaller groups for various reasons.
5. These smaller groups include the splitting up of both romantic couples and more platonic relationships.
6. Not sure if this is always the case, but often two people end up in a group together who will soon become love interests.
7. More often than not, in the chaos, someone goes missing and is presumed dead, but they aren’t, and they return at some point.
8. Romantic Reunions – eventually the entire group will come back together to face the threat, but the romantic reunions always happen PRIOR to this.
9. The group solidifies again, coming back together to face the threat.
10. Any familial or platonic reunions that haven’t happened yet happen at this point.
So, let’s look at some examples. It gets complicated and wordy to go through every example of this, and I struggle with the best way to explain it. There are kind of two examples in each season (think of it as one for every 8 episodes, roughly) but they also tend to be related, so you could think of them as Part A and Part B.
S4. The first big threat is actually the virus. So not bad people. But let’s focus on the second big threat: the Governor. This example is better for what I’m trying to explain.
Governor’s Arc:
Tumblr media
1. The threat is the Gov trying to take over the prison. The secondary threat that brings the group back together will be Terminus. In this case, they’re pretty much two different threats, but in most other seasons, they’re related.
2. Preliminary attempt could be seen as what they did to defeat the Gov in S3, which ultimately didn’t work. You could also see Rick trying to negotiate as the preliminary action that doesn’t work.
3. It doesn’t work. Everything goes wrong. Hershel dies. The prison falls.
4. The group splits into smaller groups, not by choice but because of circumstances.
5. Romantic couples that split: Glaggie, Richonne (They weren’t canon yet, but I think this was purposeful because the writers knew someday they would be.) Platonic splits: Rick/Judith, Sasha/Tyreese, Maggie/Beth, Daryl/Carol, Michonne/Carl.
6. Obviously the two who will become love interests are Beth and Daryl, but there’s also Sasha/Bob to consider.
7. Missing and Presumed Dead: Baby Judith
8. Romantic reunions before the entire group comes back together: Richonne in 4x09 and Glaggie in 4x15.
9. They all come back together at Terminus.
10. Platonic reunions after Terminus: Sasha/Bob and Rick&Carl/Judith.
I’m gonna skip S5 for a minute. You can use this template as something self-contained within season 5. 5b is a little weird because the “separations” are emotional rather than literal/physical, but it still works. But of course Beth’s arc that follows this template starts in S5 and will end up going between 5 and 10 seasons, just depending on how you look at it and how long it takes to get us to the CRM war, so I’ll come back to this.
Let me give you a couple of other examples first.
Season 6:
Tumblr media
1. The threat: the walkers at the quarry. (So the threat is usually a bad person or group, but here it’s walkers, and in 4a it was a virus, just so you can see different ways they do this.) The group will come back together in 6x09, pull together, and eliminate the walker threat.
2. Preliminary action: Well, it goes wrong right at first because the truck falls off the ledge and they have to start before planned. But all of Operation Lead the Walkers Away could be seen as the preliminary action that goes bad.
3. It all goes wrong when the wolves show up and blow the horn. The person that dies is Emery. I don’t think tptb wanted to kill off any main characters in this sequence, so they created his character specifically to adhere to this template.
4. The group splits again, though not by choice. Michonne and co to pet shop, Rick…running, Daryl/Sasha/Abraham, etc.
5. Romantic couples that split: Glaggie again, Richonne, Tara/Denise, you might even count David and Betsy. Platonic splits: uh, you know, anyone who’s not romantic.
6. Romantic reunions before the final battle: Richonne early on when Rick gets back to Alexandria (6x05, I think?) Tara and Denise briefly, before Creepy Wolf Dude takes her. And then Glaggie when Glenn returns and they get Maggie off the scaffold.
7. Missing and presumed dead: Glenn, obviously.
8. Two in same group who later become love interests: Sasha and Abraham. Also Carl and Enid, who are both at Alexandria. Clearly the writers use these sorts of situations to forge relationships.
9. They all reunite at Alexandria, Daryl sets lake on fire, they fight the walkers.
10.   Platonic reunions after: they don’t focus on these in a big way in this season, but we see everyone standing together on the porch afterward, Michonne holding baby Judith, and of course Rick talking to Carl.
Saviors Arc:
I’ll focus on S7 here, as I think we see this template several times throughout S7 and S8, but the Saviors arc really spans like 2.5 seasons, so I’ll keep this brief.
Tumblr media
1. Threat = The Saviors
2. Preliminary action: attacking the satellite station in 6x13. They thought that took care of the problem.
3. It goes wrong even though they don’t know it right away. Leads directly to Glenn and Abraham’s deaths.
4. The group splits, not by choice, but because Negan makes them. Rick trying to get supplies for the Saviors, Daryl at Sanctuary, Maggie/Sasha at Hilltop, Michonne on her own, etc.
5. Other than Rick and Michonne not being on the same page, there’s not major romantic splittage here. Glenn and Abraham die of course, but in this template, it’s always that the couple comes back together again, so death doesn’t count. We do have Carl and Enid splitting briefly when he goes to the Sanctuary in 7x07. Platonic splits: again, just everyone in different groups who isn’t romantic. So, Daryl/Rick, Rick/Maggie, etc.
6. Romantic Reunions: Carnid, Richonne when they got on the same page.
7. Missing and presumed dead: I think this would be Daryl. It’s a small thing, but when Negan took him, Rick really didn’t know if Negan planned to kill him.
8. Two who become love interests: Again, maybe Carl and Enid outside the walls together? Just not a huge emphasis on the romance here. Though possibly we could consider Sherry and Dwight too.
9. Again, this depends on how you want to see it. You could see the final battle as the end of AOW in 8x16, but if you want to stick with 7a, then it’s when they all reunite at Hilltop and hug in 7x08. See what I mean about how they use this for both big and small arcs?
10. Platonic reunions in 7x08: Maggie/Rick, Daryl/Rick, Daryl/Everyone, etc.
Okay, I’ll stop there with the examples. This took me a long time because you can go through every single season, even every 8 episodes, and see this same thing. There’s so much going on AOW, I didn’t even want to try to pin this down for S8, but I’m sure it’s there. In S9, this works first for Rick’s death and then for the Whisperers. Whisperers, preliminary action = giving Lydia back, but that leads to pike victims. Hilltop falls. You can fill in the other details. S10 is the Whisperers continued, but the first threat was the satellite falling and the fire it caused. You get the idea.
And I think in this episode (10x17) they’re setting up this same template with the Reapers. What we see in this episode might qualify as the preliminary action. It’s very small, but it might. So we might be seeing steps 1 and 2 of the template, using the Reapers as the threat.
So, back to Beth. I guess the main reason this got me all excited is that it simply backs up other things we’ve already theorized. If you think of this template in an extremely long-game sort of way (many seasons), it makes perfect sense.
Beth/CRM Arc:
1. First threat: Grady/CRM. Because we believe Grady was entangled with them.
Tumblr media
2. Preliminary Action: the prisoner exchange at Grady to stop the conflict.
3. It goes wrong. Beth “dies.”
4. Group splits. This one is interesting because the group has obviously split and come back together many times over the seasons. But this has to be on a bigger scale than that. So, not just characters coming back together a few episodes later. It has to be more epic than that. Like, having them separated for several seasons?
So think of it this way: the only people still alive who knew Beth in S4/S5 are Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Carol, Maggie, and Judith. And who is separated from the group right now and for the foreseeable future? Rick and Michonne.
We also know Daryl and Carol will leave together at the end of S11. I’m assuming Maggie stays behind then, though we can’t know for sure yet. But if things work out the way I think they will based on other templates (like TWB) then at some point Daryl and Carol will split up, too. So, the splits are definitely there, but it’s much more epic in this case. The splits happen over multiple seasons, rather than all at once. Rick in S9. Michonne roughly a season later. Daryl and Carol a season after that, etc.
5. Romantic splits: well, things may change but as of right now, Richonne, Bethyl, Carzekiel are all split up. Platonic splits: Daryl/Rick, Daryl/Michonne, Daryl/Carol, Michonne/Daryl, perhaps Judith from all of these, etc.
6. Romantic reunions: we don’t know exactly how they’ll play out, but I’m assuming Michonne will find Rick BEFORE the final CRM conflict. Assuming Ezekiel has a death fakeout, I think he and Carol will reunite before the main CRM battle. And of course you know I think Daryl will meet Beth on his way to Rick. The romantic reunions always happen BEFORE the big, final conflict. :D
7.  Missing and presumed dead: right now it’s both Rick and Beth, though Zeke may join at some point.
8.  Two in group who become love interests? I have no idea who this will be. Might possibly even be characters we haven’t met yet. Eugene/Stephanie? Kelly/Elijah?
Tumblr media
9.  Final conflict is war with CRM.
10. Platonic reunions afterward: Possibly Beth/Maggie, Judith/Various people, main characters with those back at Alexandria, so like Daryl/Aaron, Rick/Maggie, etc.
I was going to give you the rundown for how this template plays out in 10x17. After reading this though, you’ll probably recognize it right away. There’s a part where Daryl and Maggie’s group splits into two to follow two paths. That’s what got me thinking about this to begin with.

First thoughts on 9X1
I have lots of thoughts about the season 9 premiere but I had one quick thought I wanted to share before trying to put together my other thoughts. The thing that I always try to note when watching season premieres are the threads of story they are going to develop for each character over the upcoming season. For example for Maggie she is still struggling with losing Glenn and with what it means to be a leader. For Rick and Michonne the upcoming season is going to be about the struggle of unifying all the different communities into one group and in doing so with how to recreate the rules and morays of a civilized society (an extension for both Rick and Michonne of what Deanna was trying to teach them and the hope she was trying to instill into them).
So given all that I paid close attention to Daryl and the conflicts they appear to be setting up for him and it became clear that Daryl is going to struggle with several important things this season. The first is that Daryl (like many good leaders) is a reluctant leader. He does not want to be leading the Sanctuary and he does not want to be responsible for other people. He doubts Rick’s vision and he very much longs for the time when it was just “us”. The interesting thing about Daryl using that context is that there was actually an episode in season 4 entitled “Us” which was about Daryl attempting to fit in with the Claimers before reuniting with Rick in episode 15’s “A”. So it would appear that Daryl struggles with the Claimers (many of which were related to the things he learned and felt from his time with Beth) are influencing his current story line with the Saviors/Sanctuary. The other very interesting thing to remember about TWD is that they set up a paradox between “Us” and “Them” within the context of the show and the writers then gave us an episode entitled “Them” which was season 5’s episode 10.
It is in episode 5X10’s “Them “ that we actively see Daryl mourning Beth for the first time but it’s also important in other ways that continue to affect the plot and story moving forward such as this is the episode where we begin to see a fracture in Daryl and Rick’s relationship (something that’s continued to affect he story ever since) and this is also the episode where Rick talks about being the walking dead and Daryl contradicts him and says “we ain’t them”. In 4x15 Daryl solidifies in his own mind after his time with Beth what it means to be “Us” or what it means to him to be one of the “good guys”. She helped him to understand that he could be one of those people that he was worthy of that and her trust and faith in him and her goodness helped to inspire him and to heal him. Season 4 is where Daryl begins to identify with what it means to be “us”. In season 5 Daryl contradicts Rick because he knows who team family is. He knows what it means to be “us” and he knows it isn’t to be “them” as Rick is suggesting. Rick is suggesting that they have to turn everything off, they have to accept that they are dead, in order to survive and Daryl says no we don’t. We aren’t “them” because we feel and we love and that’s what makes us strong. Where did Daryl get that idea? The man who literally turned everything off after the fall of the prison. . . well that would be Beth. Beth is the one that taught him that loving was a strength and feeling that love was good and inspirational. So when Daryl tells Rick in 5X10 that he’s wrong he’s saying that he believes Beth. That what Beth taught him about loving and feeling and hoping was right and that what Rick is trying to say about surviving and turning everything off and basically becoming the walking dead is wrong. It is here that we truly see Daryl understanding where Beth’s strength really came from. He tells Maggie that Beth was strong but that she didn’t know it because he recognizes that Beth’s strength came not from her physical abilities(which she also had) but from her hope and her emotional strength. In that statement he is validating that there are different kinds of strength and that while Beth might not have been the best fighter in the group (in her mind because they show us at Grady that she was very good at certain survival skills) her emotional strength and hope in the world gave her a strength that few others in the group possessed and that while she might not have seen that he finally did.
So in the premiere we see Daryl talking about being “Us” again and it’s very interesting because of what “Us” means to Daryl. To Daryl being “Us” means understanding strength in a different way and it means adhering to the idea that there is more to life than simply surviving. There is family and love and hope and in this moment Daryl is expressing his fatigue at the idea of just continuing to survive ( which Daryl has been doing and not doing well since losing Beth in season 4).  In the midst of this we get another very interesting hint about where Daryl’s story is headed through his conversation with Cindie. He talks about Merle but then he also talks about missing the people who they’ve lost along the way who he knows would have wanted to be here. Of course there is no doubt that Glenn is one of the people in Daryl’s mind as he says this and that there are other people as well but it’s significant to note that Daryl was exceptionally close to one particular character whose story became very much about surviving. For most of her time on the show Beth was a supporting character and it wasn’t until season 4 that she began to get her own story and her own trajectory and it’s import to note that it was really all about one thing. Beth’s story when boiled down to its simplest plot points was about survival and the notion that conventional thought would say someone like her could not survive but that she was determined to do so. From the fall of the prison onward Beth’s entire story became about survival and two of Beth’s most influential lines “ you don’t get it” from “Still”  and “I get it now”  from “Coda” were repeated by Daryl in the premiere and I don’t believe this was accidental as both of these lines tie into Daryl’s story of “us” and “them”. In “Still” Beth even goes so far as to say “I know you look at me and you just see another dead girl. I'm not Michonne. I'm not Carol. I'm not Maggie. I've survived and you don't get it 'cause I'm not like you or them. But I made it and you don't get to treat me like crap just because you're afraid.”
Beth is acknowledging in this quote that she isn’t like “Them” or like Rick’s interpretation of “Them” in 5x10 and she isn’t with the group when “Them” occurs in season 5 even though Maggie and Daryl are actively mourning her at the time. Beth is instead “Us” or the person at least that helps Daryl to define what “Us” means to him. To him she is the best of what their group could become because even in the face of shattering loss after the fall of the prison she maintained her humanity and her hope and she doggedly believed that there was more to life than simply surviving. I believe that these are key themes that we will see developed throughout season 9 or they would not have been introduced as part of Daryl’s story in the premiere. I also believe that Beth’s story became what it did because of what it would mean to Daryl’s story in the future. I also think that the fact that her entire story became about survival is significant and it’s something that I will explore in another post because I believe that her survival story might actually be a key part of understanding her place in the overall narrative. At the time her story made little sense within the greater story but as time passes and the greater story evolves it begins to make more and more sense and it appears to fit much better into the overall context of the story and particularly into Daryl’s story and where his story is headed.

What do you think of writing?
1 Story of Floyd and Lynn? Pathetic
2 Making Leyla look like the damsel in distress and never show off her professional side? Meh
3 Helen as the head of her clinic was always shown to be inadeguate. Why😭😭😭
4 Max represented as Jesus walking on water, solving all problems (other doctors must be idiots) and bringing peace to the world
5 Iggy aka the only one that Veronica should have fired and disbarred 💀💀💀 sorry not sorry
6 Karen pulled out of a wizard hat in the last episode and Wilder's best friend out of nowhere 😵😵
7 Veronica made so bad only to exalt Max when it would have been enough to highlight how he is an idealistic dreamer while she is pragmatic (see the episode in which she had to work with Reynolds)
The only ones saved are Casey, Lauren and Leyla (despite point 2 but that is more on the professional side than on the human side )
i'm gonna preface this by saying that i don't expect NA to be the pinnacle of storytelling or tv writing. at the end of the day, i try not to take it too seriously because it's suppose to be just a silly little show that i turn my brain off to watch and relax. except for when my ship is on screen then i'm dialed to 100000 at all times.
i had hopes for lyn and floyd getting more depth to their storyline but it seems like she's basically chosen claude and given how this open relationship mess was a result of miscommunication between them... i can't say it's surprising? BTS for 4x22 looks like it shows floyd going to lyn's house in the rain so.... who knows if that's a romantic moment or a 'i take it back i want to be with our child and actively involved in their life' moment. all i know is, it's not too late to bring back evie. pretty please writers 😭 like i'm still going to my grave believing she was suppose to be his endgame and the plan was never for floyd and evie to split up but the actress got a main role with TWD and that threw a wrench in things.
i've answered this in a previous ask but i don't feel like the story/narrative has really shown leyla in a 'damsel in distress' or in constant need type of light. but leyla's professional side shined in 4a and we got to see her back in doctoring action for 4x14 and now teaming up with lauren in the recent episode for their on the fly mission to save casey and came in clutch with the caulking gun idea. but yeah, overall not as much doctoring so far in 4b. however given that in 4b she was absent for 4x11-12, reintroduced at the end of 4x13 and even lauren was barely in 4x15, there hasn't been many opportunities.
RIP Medical Director Helen, you were short lived and taken from us far too soon. I guess it's a good thing she went rogue and hired 3 deputy medical directors cause between her traveling back to NYC and now this stroke, they're basically running the place.
lol alas the theme of the show, local man tries to fix everything for the praise and need to feel needed. just once i'd like someone to press him about his long term plans. my boy casey did and you know what? max DIDN'T have an answer! but unfortunately that piece just kinda got... brushed under the rug by the end of the episode. which btw, i just rewatched that sequence and it's so funny how max was bemoaning about nobody wanting to fight for NA to floyd and trying to make everyone seem like quitters and calling them his friends when 4/5 of these "friends" were people max threw to the wolves and laid off to save the others.
i feel like this is gonna be my unpopular opinion moment but while iggy's personal life decisions are really annoying me because hello? martin is the best husband in the world. i actually don't find him to be unbearable professionally. now don't get me wrong, i do think he absolutely whiffs it at times with patients (ex. that poor kid with the school shooting denier father) but i don't find him to be grossly incompetent like it seems the general fandom views him as. also.... wilder and everyone who participated in the rogue morgue surgeries... were extremely reckless with the possible risk and that is fair grounds for getting reported to the AMA *ducks*
karen's inclusion in wilder's storyline was weirdly out of left field for me too lol. but i guess it's because everyone else had their assigned people and since max was obviously preoccupied with helen, just having ben look for and be a part of wilder's storyline wasn't enough oomph.
that's the thing with veronica, most of the time i find her pragmatic though in her disillusion of the medical system, she's become part of the problem, but then sometimes she'll make objectively awful corporate decisions that you can't defend. for example pressuring the FDNY ambulances to be more aggressive with patient pick ups leading to recklessness in order to keep their contracts with the hospital. which, of course as the anthesis of max, she has to have her extremes too. i personally enjoy fuentes' character but i hate, haaaaate that it's always the same goddamn dance between her and max with the 'you'll bankrupt this hospital', 'you're evil!' squabble. with the exception of the creation of NA's own ambulance fleet, rarely have their clashes resulted in something actually helpful for the hospital and we never see any introspection from max to see the flaws in his tenure as MD.

I watched the last 3 episodes of season 4 of TWD the other day
my boy Eugene refused to leave Glenn and Tara in that tunnel in 4x15 and it’s really thanks to him that Glenn and Maggie found each other in that ep lets not forget
Daryl was w that nasty group of ppl.  he goes to cover up that guy in respect after they killed him,  even tho that guy was fuckin with Daryl the whole time.  and Daryl forgets that he is better than those people.  and then Rick tells him he’s his brother. imma cry.
also i wonder if Carol ever tells Daryl (or anyone) what happened to Lizzie and Mika
and side note, my favorite Rick Grimes moment of all time is when he bites that guy’s neck, can’t lie.
also i miss Tyrese wtf. it makes me so sad that Judith will never know some of the people who kept her safe and took care of her the most.

Into The Fire - Agents of SHIELD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have never been in tears watching this show, but this episode totally did me in. I’m pretty sure the AOS and TWD writers are conspiring with one another to plot on how to tear their fans apart with the core couples in this show.
I’m drowsy and I have the urge to write about that tragic nightmare that was 4x15, so please enjoy this oneshot. Reader is a pyro and telekinetic.
This also contains spoilers for 4x15: And is also slightly AU. I really wanted Daisy to end up with Lincoln. I never expected it to be Ward.
Lyrics come from Into The Fire - Erin Mccarley
- - - - - - - - -  - - - - -  -
‘’You know, when we first brought you in here to train with us, I didn’t have the faith. Now I do.” Coulson lightly gripped your shoulder, gasping as you caught him off guard and flipped him over your shoulder. You were the newest Inhuman - one not much older then Daisy Johnson, and one who had beaten all of them at sparring. That happened to include the Calvary. “You’re going to be extraordinary.”
It was never supposed to be this way.
You hadn’t gone on that stupid op, but when the rest of the ones who did came back, you immediately had your suspicions. Jemma and Fitz were acting abnormally clingy with one another, and May was no where in sight. Not to mention Coulson and Mace were talking to each other in the nooks and crannies of the base no one visited.
Secrets. So many secrets.
Running. Sneaking. Taking to the shadows to avoid detection. It had been one of the things you were best at- which was also how you found yourself staring at Daisy and Jemma; both of them bleeding and Jemma on the verge of a hysterical breakdown.
“Good God, I leave the two of you alone for five minutes-”
Daisy held up her hand. “Not the time, y/n. You and I have work to do.” Your gaze softened as Jemma let out a broken sob, blood matting in her brunette hair as she covered her mouth with her hand. “We have to take out the LMDs. Coulson, Mace, Mack, May.”
Come on, Come on
Put your hands into the fire
You silently swallowed the growing lump in your throat and allowed your walls to fall, even if it was only for a moment. “Dais- I don’t know if I can. What.. What if it’s you two that are the LMD? Mace.. Coulson, they took me in.” Daisys face fell as you pounded against your chest just above your heart, tears now freely rolling down your face. “They turned something tragic and broken into something beautiful. How do I just.. end it?”
“Because they aren’t real. And if we don’t end it, they end us.”
Explain, explain
As I turn and meet the power
You and Daisy left the room at the same time, desperate to ignore your pounding synchronized heart beats as you shuffled along the hallway together. It was simple. Just take them out.
  ‘’Hey sunshine. You missed.”
You grunted and kicked off of Maces chest, your foot landing just beneath his chin as you backflipped and landed poised on the mat. The new Director of SHIELD sat up at the waist and grinned at you. It was remarkable how just a smile made your heart stop. “Hey idiot. I don’t think I did that time.”
Daisy gripped your wrist as the two of you peered down the hall where the LMD Mace stood, confused as to where the sleeping gas had come from. “Are you sure you can do this? He means alot to you. I get how you feel.” She whispered.
You lifted your head and met her eyes - eyes so haunted that were now so determined to take back what was hers, what was yours; what the two of you had deserved. “I have to. It’s for them, isn’t it?” You replied, inhaling deeply as you stepped into his line of sight.
This time, this time
Turning white and senses dying
You let out a frustrated grunt and performed the same trick that had incapacitated the real Director Mace, lunging outward and throwing your hands out to toss him backward a large distance. All the anger, the confusion of what was happening, all of that was being displayed between both you and Daisy.
And it felt so good.
Pull up, pull up
From one extreme to another
“Y/n!” Daisy screamed, gasping as she shattered a glass beaker over the LMD before you bolted into the room, curling your fingers and wrenching his arms backwards with your telekinetics; which gave you the ability to pin him to the floor so Daisy could jam a knife through his chest. “Thanks.”
“You don’t have to thank me.” You replied, chuckling quietly as she narrowed her ominous brown eyes at you. Before either one of you could react, you were hunched over her form as tightly as possible, taking the brunt of the bullet Phil Coulson had fired at you. “Phil-”
“You don’t have to fight it, y/n.” He said in that soft voice that used to comfort you after a particularly rough nightmare. You squeezed your eyes shut and gasped as the pain from the gunshot began to register deep in your bones. The air around you was so warm- and that’s when you realized you had managed to shield two different bullets from impacting you and Daisy. Shielded by fire. “None of this has to end in bloodshed.”
From the summer to the spring
From the mountain to the air
You uncurled yourself from Daisy and stood above her, allowing your shield of fire to dissipate. “You know, I had a father once. He looked alot like you and now you’ve taken his face.” You outstretched your arms on either side of you, smirking as both Mack and Coulson began to sway with the force of Daisys powers and your own. “Aida, if you can hear me.. I’m going to tear your head apart from your body and laugh while doing it. No one touches my family, burns my home and ruins my life and gets away with it.”
From Samaritan to Sin
And its waiting on the air
Jemma was waiting in the hallway as the two of you leaned against one another, applying pressure to stay steady against the brunt of your wounds. It took what felt like an eternity- but the three of you and several other agents made it onto the Zephyr with no problems, other then the LMD of Melinda May who had blown up your HQ.
She had saved you. Melinda May had given up what she wanted to be a life for herself to get her girls to safety.
The second you were laying on that stretcher in between Jemma and Daisy, you immediately began to sob.
Now I’m low, I’m looking out, I’m looking in
Way down the lights are dimmer
Fingers wrap around your own from both sides as a Level One Agent who you do not know the name of stands above you with the Framework head device in his hands. “Are you ready?” He murmured. You inhaled sharply and arched your back as your eyes began to flutter.
“I’ll see you on the other side.”
Come on, come on
Put your hands into the fire
Come on, come on
You woke up in someone elses bed, panting and on the verge of hysteria. Where were you? How did you get here? Where were Jemma and Daisy?
Text Message: Director May
Wake your boyfriend up. We need you to come in.
Your eyes widened as they flickered over to the warm body of the man you had failed on so many occasions; the same man who had hurt you in the most painful ways possible and had died a stranger with the man who Daisy Johnson loved.
Grant Ward was in the bed beside you, soundly sleeping with his arms tucked beneath him. Your eyes widened with tears as you silently crawled out of bed and hurried into the bathroom, shutting the door behind you and sliding your back down it as you began to sob.
The Framework was supposed to be a paradise. That was what Aida had said. So why was your supposed version of paradise the equivalent of reliving your worst nightmare??
“Oh Grant... I’m so so sorry.”

The tunnel scene is so good. It's such a perfect culmination of Glenn's 4b story. Like Glenn has been such an ass to tara in service of his ultimate devotion to Maggie. But when push comes to shove that's not him. Only caring about one person to the extent where other people get hurt is a dick move and Glenn is not a dick.
Tara is so wracked with guilt but she's also clearly a good person and Glenn is a good person who believes in people and isn't willing let tara die even when she thinks she deserves it, even when she's yelling at him to leave her
