"What do you mean they're all dead, I was having fun," exclaimed the figure, their voice dripping with disbelief and a hint of amusement.

The scene unfolded amidst the ruins of a once bustling village, now reduced to smoldering debris and echoing with the distant cries of survivors. The figure, clad in battle-worn armor, surveyed the aftermath with a twisted grin, their eyes alight with a strange fervor.

A fellow soldier approached cautiously, his expression a mix of horror and uncertainty. "Sir, we… we didn't realize… the extent…"

The figure waved a dismissive hand, cutting off the soldier mid-sentence. "Does it matter?" they scoffed. "We came to conquer, didn't we? To assert our dominance, to show them who holds the power."

The soldier swallowed hard, his gaze flickering nervously to the lifeless bodies strewn across the ground. "But… but they were unarmed civilians," he stammered. "Women, children… we… we slaughtered them."

A dark chuckle escaped the figure's lips, sending shivers down the soldier's spine. "War is not for the faint of heart, my friend," they replied, their tone chillingly casual. "In the end, it's survival of the fittest. They were weak, and we… we showed them the consequences."

As the reality of their actions began to sink in, the soldier recoiled, his hands trembling with a mixture of fear and remorse. "I can't… I can't do this anymore," he whispered, his voice barely above a whisper. "I won't be part of this madness."

But the figure merely shrugged, their eyes cold and unfeeling. "Suit yourself," they replied, turning away from the soldier and disappearing into the smoke-filled horizon.
