*years after canon events*
Jaune: Turn on the TV, trailer is about to go live.
Yang: Gotta say VB, pretty impressive they are making movie about you.
Ruby: Not to brag, but I got a movie first.
Weiss: Five movies to be precise. They are kind of milking it at this point.
Oscar: Shhh, this is Jaune's big moment.
*trailer starts*
Narrator: Experience the untold story of one of the Remnant's greatest Huntsmen.
Papa Arc: Son, your mother and I are getting divorced. You are moving with me... to Mistral.
*dreary music plays*
Jaune: Is this place always foggy?
Papa Arc: You'll get used to it.
*in school*
Sun: Oh you are the new one here. I'm Sun and this is Neptune.
Neptune: S'up.
Sun: Haven is bit different than other schools, but you'll get used to it. That over there is rest of my team. That over there is Team ABRN and that...
*lightning strikes, rain starts pouring outside, three people walk into cafeteria*
Jaune: Who are they?
Neptune: *chuckles* Oh, that's Cinder's team. They are bit weird.
Cinder: *looks Jaune in the eye*
Narrator: And their paths would cross again
*Jaune's cereals spill, Cinder lifts them with gust of wind before they can fall*
Jaune: *gasp* How did you do that?
Cinder: Aura. *walks out disinterested*
Narrator: And again.
Jaune: *falls out of window*
Cinder: *catches him* You should be careful.
Jaune: You can fly?
Cinder: I just jumped high... adrenaline.
Narrator: Because Cinder Fall is not an ordinary girl.
*Jaune and Cinder alone in the forest*
Jaune: You can fly, you can control elements without using Dust, weather changes around you, your Aura... is different than anything I've seen before. I know what you are.
Cinder: *growls* Say it out loud. Say it.
Jaune: Maiden.
Cinder: Then ask me a question. How did I get this power? *takes off her top revealing emblem on her back*
Jaune: You are beautiful.
Cinder: I am a killer Jaune.
Jaune: I don't care.
Narrator: JAUNE ARC AND THE TWILIGHT MAIDEN. Coming soon to the theaters.
Cinder: Jaune, this is my mother... Salem.
Salem: Welcome to the family Jaune.
*trailer ends*
Jaune: *speechless*
Yang: Gotta give it to you VB, this could be the worst movie of the year.
Blake: It looks alright. We are definitely watching it in theaters Yang.
Yang: *hisses* Absolutely not.
Ruby: And I thought they went bit too far with my movies when I fought Superman.
Mercury: That chick's acting was awful.
Cinder: She is passable imitation of me. Although her body can't hold a candle to mine.
Mercury: I meant the one playing Jaune.
Emerald: You are just mad because they gender swapped you, Mercury.
Mercury: And chick that plays me has two healthy legs. Truly a dark day for proper representation.
Jaune: None of you are taking this seriously. This is... awful. World is gonna get completely wrong idea of me. Look at me! I'm a Cinder's lovesick stalker in this!
Cinder: Relax. It's just a dumb movie. People will watch it and forget it before they even leave the theaters.
*years later*
Narrator: JAUNE ARC AND THE DAWN MAIDEN... PART 1.
Jaune: They are still making them?!
Ruby: Well. At least they didn't send you to space... yet.

What we can learn from “The Jaune Arc Discourse” (TM).
Well, to start with, people are really resistant to being corrected on lies at worst or overstatements at best.
Like if nothing else, the Does RWBY Like Women poll was illuminating in how it showed me that a veeeeeery weird myth about Jaune Arc has persisted beyond its true relevancy.
Volume 1 of RWBY features Jaune Arc in the spotlight for… what? Four episodes? The minutes of each adding up to roughly twenty minutes, the length of an average TV episode?
While he was featured in the previous storyline where we are given an eight episode arc introducing us to our eight main protagonists, he was a lot more… ancillary as comic relief. A discount Lavernius Tucker with Felix’s voice if you will.
He's Vomit Boy in episode one. Episode two has him introduced more formally as somebody who helps up Ruby after a bad first impression on Weiss. He later appears more prominently pining over Weiss and catching Pyrrha's attention before falling to bracing himself in being catapulted into the Emerald Forest.
He's bailed out by Pyrrha and it's set up that he's in over his head by not knowing what Aura is or at least wanting to know how it works. An exposition sponge as I heard on fan call it. I could go on but the point is that all signs pointed to a Butt Monkey Ron Stoppable sort who was likely there for cheap laughs.
Amusing enough but I worried if that's all he'd be personally. Lord knows that some movies give the Comic Relief character too much comic relief and, well, not enough character. But after Ruby and Weiss have their leader/lance headbutting, the four episodes that followed reassured me that there'd be more to Jaune than meets the eyes.
But to circle back to the main thesis, it's actually fascinating that the myth of Jaune hijacking the narrative for himself is this pervasive when the offending story in question... is very much a self-contained character piece. It's way less about the wider story involving Ozpin, Roman Torchwick (at the time) and the White Fang.
It has relevance in how Pyrrha starts mentoring Jaune after he deals with Cardin and gets over himself (for now) which trickles down into future stories. Even then, the next story arc right back with Team RWBY with nary a sign of the everyman in question. A story arc that does deal with elements of the main plot, leading directly into Volume 2.
And in Volume 2, Jaune trying to woo Weiss and being ignorant to Pyyrha's advancements was just a subplot scattered in the first half of the story. It very much piggybacks off of Team RWBY's whole deal.
Volume 3 has what I consider to be a reversal of what's been known as Trinity Syndrome.
Namely the sort where a male character goes off the square off with the main villain mano-e-mano after shoving the female character/his love interest away so she won't get hurt. An egrigious example being when the love interest CAN FIGHT and back him up.
However, Pyyrha instead shoves Jaune out of the way after kissing him and goes off to face Cinder in a very fatal battle. It was honestly a brilliant (as much as the term may be disliked these days) subversion of the cliche.
And it’s Ruby who sees her death and gets the trauma induced power up. Jaune only has a scene of angst before that and was the one to call Ruby to have her try and back up the one he just realized he loved.
Jaune from that point on is an Everyman Protagonist who is forced to remember that he’s not THE protagonist. Yet the myth persistently proclaims that he hijacks the narrative from the titular Team RWBY despite only four episodes being wholly dedicated to him and his head space.
How did we get here?
Well… there’s the fact that not everyone finished Volume 1 and that not everybody, well, watched RWBY. And that would be fine on its own. You gave it a shot and it wasn’t your cuppa joe. You saw the trailer but clicked on something else.
I get it. That’s fine. Contrary to popular belief, nobody in the FNDM will really fault you for it. Less fine is when you spread faulty readings of RWBY and from those heavily biased against it no less.
It cannot be emphasized enough that tearing into RWBY is a cottage industry on YouTube. Hbomberguy might have the biggest platform but you’ll find multiple channels with lengthy series on “RWBY bad, here why.” And they are actually amongst the FNDM. They know how the YT Algorithm game is played, how it rewards engagement above all else. And sadly, negativity and rage pay more bills.
It’s why there are few positive videos or at least few that are pushed into the recommendations. Many often borrow the same points from each other born from the V1 days, namely that Jaune is allegedly given favoritism by the writers while we somehow “don’t know who the main girls are.”
From four episodes.
I also think it’s also to do with how it’s not that he actually did steal screentime… so much as many anticipated he would. A lot of shows and movies I grew up with would have strong female characters but any potential they had was hindered by the male lead and his hero’s journey. See the above Trinity Syndrome I referenced.
But Jaune didn’t do that. Even when he was central to an event like his semblance being awakened, it’s a healing/power boost that he gives to others. Weiss getting skewered might’ve brought it out but it lead to her getting back into the fray while he was largely to the sides.
Seems more like he shares screentime if anything.
People cling to these myths despite legit fans actually pointing out, “Hey, that’s not true actually and here’s why,” because that hate being told they are wrong more than being wrong. And because there are many around these who reinforce this “truth,” they feel content with it. No need to challenge it when it “feels” right.
So Jaune Arc stole screentime. Because that’s what “everyone else” is saying. By you need to question popular opinions. You need to realize that sometimes… a fan community is based on lies.
”Trust me, bro” is not the gotcha you think it is.

So you want to know about Oz! (5)
Now that we looked at the MGM-continuity of movie and cartoons adaptation, I propose you in those post some adaptations that are either more in line with the original novels or... just not following either the novels or the MGM movie, and just doing their own thing. Since there is a lot of Oz adaptations, for this movie I will stay by American productions, post-1939.
First my three faves, and the rest will be under the cut.
2005's The Muppets' Wizard of Oz
This movie did quite poorly upon its release - and of all the Muppets movies, it is not considered to the best in any way. There is notable use of some old CGI that aged very poorly when it comes to the Wizard's scenes... But, not only does it have one of the most hilarious depiction of the Witches of Oz ever (what do you expect when they are played by Miss Piggy?) and some cool songs - this movie has the honor of being the most book-accurate, book-faithful adaptation of The Wizard of Oz there ever was. (Well outside of Japanese animes I'll talk about later). Yep... this Muppets parody is the closest you can get to experiencing the original novel as a movie. Crazy, right?
2011's The Witches of Oz
Originally it was released as a mini-series in two parts ; and in 2012 it was recut and edited as a single movie known as "Dorothy and the Witches of Oz" (but the single-movie version deleted a lot of scenes and segments from the complete mini-series). It tells a sort-of sequel to the Oz books (yes ALL of the Oz books), while mixing it with urban fantasy - as young real-life Dorothy, all grown-up in 2000s Oz, is depicted as the current author of Oz books, only for her to discover the fictional adventures in Oz that were written about her are real, and Oz is coming to New-York to get her...
Now... this mini-series aged VERY badly. The special effects are so cheap, most of the characters are insufferable, the plot is very weak... BUT! BUT this mini-series deserves to get some attention and to be known due to specific elements, such as, the most badass depiction of Langwidere ever ; Christopher Lloyd delightfully playing the Wizard of Oz... And the Wicked Witch of the West! This incarnation of the Witch is without a doubt one of my favorit reimaginings of the character, striking the perfect balance between the character of the original novel and the MGM Wicked Witch. Just in design she is the coolest Wicked Witch of the West there ever was. Too bad the rest of the mini-series is... quite cringe.
2017's Emerald City
Yet another proof of the "Oz curse" that plagues most of Oz adaptations - because the series got cancelled after its first season, leaving the show unfinished.
What is Emerald City? It was an Oz television series from the era of "post-Game of Thrones". Since the success of GoT, every channel and network tried to create its own dark and gritty big-budgeted high fantasy series... And "Emerald City" is what happened when Oz got caught in the trend.
People were very divided on the show (hence why it ended up cancelled) - some people adored its beginning and got tired of it by the end, others hated the first episodes but by the final ones were eagerly awaiting for the next season. On one side, most people agree that it is too much and that the show handled itself in a strange way, everything being a bit crammed-in. This TV show is actually adapting simultaneously THREE different Oz novels (The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Marvelous Land of Oz, Ozma of Oz), all mixed together in a new, dark, adult iteration of Oz, so yes, that's a LOT.
However the show does work out several very cool and interesting concepts, playing around with both the MGM and the novel heritages. And while the story can get a bit convoluted due to the so-many plots and subplots mixing each other in a complicated way and not giving each other enough time to breath, the visuals are 10/10. There was a real visual effort on this show that makes it entirely worth the watch, if just as an eye-candy. They literaly used GAUDI ARCHITECTURE for the Emerald City, come on, how cool is that?
And also it is one of these shows were several actually working languages were created by experts, so that's always cool. I always stand by fictional linguistics.
Now I'll go a bit quicker for these ones because else it's going to be one LONG post:
In the 1960s, there was one animated show that dominated the Ozian landscape. 1961's Tales of the Wizard of Oz.
One of the early creations of the future Rankin/Bass studios, it is a cartoon that reuses the settng and characters of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz"... But not the plot X) Basically Dorothy and Toto end up entering Oz by... by a hole, as if she was Alice. And there she meets her companions and each episode is about them trying to have a wish granted by the Wizard of Oz, or trying to avoid the schemes of the Wicked Witch. So... it is quite a VERY loose adaptation, and the modern cartoon "Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz" is kind of a modern heir to this old cartoon.
After 114 episodes, there was an animated special created to conclude the show. Called "Return to Oz", it IS actually an adaptation of the plot and events of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz"... But happening after all of the events of the cartoon, and thus taking a different direction in terms of set-up.
1969's The Wonderful Land of Oz
This low-budget movie was an adaptation of the second Oz book, "The Marvelous Land of Oz". There's quite a lot of interesting stories surrounding this production - from Judy Garland supposedly having been intended as the narrator, to the background actresses having appeared in nude films created by the movie's director... However the movie tend to be ignored or forgotten compared to the other 60s Land of Oz adaptation...
1960's "The Land of Oz". First episode of the second season of Shirley Temple's Storybook
This was a much more famous adaptation of "The Marvelous Land of Oz", if only because of Shriley Temple's name. Retrospectively, I should have added it in my previous Oz post because this mini-movie takes a lot of visual cues from the MGM's Wizard of Oz, such as the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman being designed after their MGM incarnation, or Glinda's outfit calling for the MGM Glinda's design.
1980's "Thanksgiving in the Land of Oz"
An animated special for Thanksgiving of the year 1980, which is - as the title says - about Dorothy going to celebrate Thanksgiving in Oz. In 1981 it was re-cut to become "Dorothy in the Land of Oz" (with most Thanksgiving references being removed so the animated short could be aired at any time of the year - which is quite a challenge since the special is ALL about Thanksgiving... Dorothy is literaly brought to Oz by a "giant green turkey ballooon", come on!)
1987's Dorothy meets Ozma of Oz
This animated middle-sized movie is an adaptation of the novel "Ozma of Oz", and remained for quite a long time the only adaptation of Ozma of Oz alongside Disney's Return to Oz.
1997's The Oz Kids
A direct-to-video cartoon series that is just what it says. We follow the adventures of the children of the various protagonists of the Oz novels. Dot and Neddie, Dorothy's children ; Bela and Boris the children of the Cowardly Lion ; Tin Boy and Scarecrow Junior ; the son of the Nome King, and more...
2007's Tin Man
Ah, Tin Man! A cult-classic a lot of people remember fondly - especially on Tumblr. This mini-series was part of the long suite of SyFy "dark sci-fi" fantasy reimaginings (2011's Neverland ; 2009's Alice, etc).
Described as an "adult steampunk reimagining" of the Wizard of Oz, it depicts the adventures of DG, a waitress of Kansas, as she gets taken by an interdimensional storm to the otherwordly "Outer Zone", and there befriends a telepathic leonine humanoid, a man who lost half of his brain, and a former cowboy-like law enforcer of the dictature a wicked witch-queen set upon the Outer Zone...
Speaking of steampunk, the last two Oz adaptations I want to talk about are...
2015's Lost in Oz
This animated show was part of Amazon Prime Video early days at producing its own content. Originally it was just a pilot episode released in 2015. Since the pilot episode proved good, it became a three-episodes mini-series in 2016. Since THIS mini-series proved good, it became a full season in 2017. And since this first season proved good, a second season was released in 2018. And then they stopped.
At first it seems that this show is just an "updated" version of The Wizard of Oz: Dorothy and her dog Toto gets transported to the Land of Oz, and must find a way to get back home while making friends and all together fighting through the many plots and scehmes dividing the land... Except that this Oz is a more modern and updated Oz filled with magi-tech, and Dorothy's companions are not exactly your traditional band... Turns out Dorothy has to team up with Ojo, here depicted as a "giant Munchkin", and a teenage witch by the name of... West. Yes, she is the (not so) wicked witch "of the west".
And thus starts a quite unique retelling of Oz where the three teenagers must face various threats taken from later Oz books: Langwidere, here West's evil aunt ; the mysterious Crooked Magician ; and Roquat, the Nome King.
And a last steampunk Oz for the road: 2018's "The Steam Engines of Oz". This Canadian animated movie is actually an adaptation of an Oz graphic novel of the same name, by Erik Hendrix and about a modernized Oz set after the events of "The Wonderful Wizard". A young mechanician of the Emerald City, Victoria, is chosen by the Good Witch of the North to help fight the ever-growing expansion and industrialization of the Emerald City, pushed by a Tin Man who became a cruel dictator of Oz...

Chaotic swap is a universe in which the roles of the characters have been changed, but the characters themselves have remained the same. For example, Rouge in the role of Shadow still retains its basic character traits.

Agent Shadow is an elite agent of the Gun organization. His specialties are espionage and theft of important data. Trained by the best special forces fighters, thanks to which he is able to fight back even the strongest robot. His rocket boots allow him to temporarily levitate as well as make a series of short but fast jerks. During his time at Gun, his senses had dulled and Shadow had become more cool-headed. The hedgehog has a side type of earnings — the New Babylon Casino as well as a series of bars. Loves :Successfully completed tasks, money, as well as strong girls. He usually acts with cold and businesslike indifference, only occasionally showing his vulnerable side. It has a set of different types of gadgets, bombs, special glasses and pistols. Despite his cold nature, Shadow has a narrow circle of personalities that he can call friends without doubt or sarcasm. Just that the hedgehog hides his real emotions behind the mask of a harsh and cold agent. Of all of them, perhaps only two saw the real emotions of the hedgehog. Most often, it separates the eternally arguing Rouge and Lien-da, Which is why most often it becomes a beacon of reason for Rouge and Lien-da.
Rouge is a perfect life form created by Professor Gerald Robotnik as a universal medicine. Extremely dangerous due to the power to control the energy of Chaos, as well as because of the abilities that were added thanks to the altered dna. She is able to destroy stones and metal with her scream, but this ability requires great strength and concentration. Her element is air, so anyone who decides to arrange a fight in flight will instantly fall to the ground due to a barrage of attacks. She is a little obsessed with the power of Chaos Emeralds, so she tries to collect them. Rouge communicates quite easily and playfully—this behavior is associated with watching a lot of old movies on vhs, in which the main roles were played by spy girls. Rouge took the manner of her communication and behavior from the heroines of similar Films and TV series. Despite her cheerful demeanor, Rouge is still plagued by nightmares about the Ark colony, perhaps she has post-traumatic stress disorder. Her main connection is that Agent Shadow is her personal psychologist, he often calms Rouge at night when she wakes up from Another nightmare. Agent Shadow may be Rouge's main love interest, but due to her inexperience, all she can do is flirt. She is very proud and ready to fight dirty when faced with a formidable opponent. The carefree and playful attitude of the bat, due to its abilities, can strain some characters. To most people, Rouge seems brave, ambitious, independent, flirtatious, calculating narcissist who thinks only of herself. Although in fact this is just an image that she plays out in public, her closest friends know that the girl is actually kind, although she has moments of depression.
E.G.G-123—The most dangerous and intelligent of the E-series robots, is the creation of Dr. Vanilla, which as a result got out of control. It has a large arsenal of weapons and ammunition.Initially, E. G. G -123 was created as a robot that would kill Blaze the cat. However, as a result, Vanilla turned the robot into a guard for Rouge, who was in stasis at one of Vanilla's bases. However, the rapidly developing intelligence of the robot rebelled against Vanilla, wanting power as well as revenge for being locked underground for three years. In his arsenal there is :Rockets, miniguns, flamethrowers, plasma and laser weapons. In addition, the robot is very smart, which allows it to create its own weapons, which often work against its master due to mortality. E. G. G -123 likes to gloat and joke during battle, praising his fighting qualities as well as his mind. He often underestimates his enemies because of too much confidence in his abilities. The robot likes to compete with those individuals whose powers are not inferior to his own. He likes to arrange friendly fights with Rouge, considers her a worthy opponent. Despite his hidden desire to take over the world, E-123 himself wants Agent Shadow and Rouge to share rule over the world with him. As a result, he tends to be extremely headstrong, reckless, aggressive and destructive - destroying everything that gets in his way.
---

Dr. Vanilla is a brilliant scientist and a villain with a huge ego. Her main goal is to take over the world and prove that she is the greatest genius. Her main weapon is intelligence, which allows her to create robots and various equipment.Dr. Vanilla is a misanthrope and a passionate technophile. Meeting the criteria of a classic sociopath, the doctor does not care about anyone except himself and his cars. She will gladly stick a knife in the back of anyone who ceases to be useful, or uses it for her own personal gain, without thinking twice. However, her main weakness is her confidence in her invincibility, and because of this, she sometimes underestimates her opponents during combat. Arrogant and narcissistic, she creates countless technological wonders that fuel her huge ego, usually bolstered by her goal to finally build an empire, and she doesn't care where it starts. Determination and stubbornness can be called strong character traits, because she never gives up when most would accept defeat. Rare moments of losing control of anger turn Vanilla into a dangerous tornado of rage that threatens both allies and her enemies. Basically, he behaves calmly and coolly, showing emotions only in moments of victory or defeat. She despises Blaze so much that she refused to make her robo copy, because of the losses during outbursts of anger, she could easily destroy Blaze's Robo copy and at the same time half of her base. He considers Blaze unworthy to be captured even in the form of a Robo copy.
Gemerl is a robot created to copy other people's abilities as well as destroy the heroine cat Blaze.Jimerl is as fast as Blaze, and is also able to copy the abilities of other heroes, but he cannot copy more complex ones such as Chaos control. He is very restrained and calm; he never seems to be in a hurry, but he manages everywhere. On the surface, he seems quiet and modest, but in fact, he is probably no less insidious than Vanilla, with the only difference that he is very good at hiding his true feelings, thoughts and intentions.Other robots know that he is vindictive and vindictive, and will always figure out how to ruin the offender's life. Therefore, everyone tries to maintain the appearance of a good relationship with him. Jimerl himself is quite satisfied with this state of affairs. The only thing that can break his usual equanimity is the appearance of a possible competitor. He is a violent, aggressive, cold-blooded and intelligent killing machine with a great superiority complex. However, from the very beginning, he had a habit of imitating Blaze's gestures, if not in a mocking manner.Jimerl's most dominant trait is his hatred and obsession with Blaze the cat. Programmed with the sole purpose of surpassing and destroying the cat, the robot is obsessed with the belief that it surpasses Blaze in all parameters. The robot considers itself as it says:"Jimerl is excellent, Blaze is insignificant!"
Agent Vector is Dr. Vanilla's devoted assistant, who may be in love with her. As a rule, he performs secondary work, collecting materials for the construction of bases, checking factories for the production of robots and making coffeeAgent Vector is the most calm of their henchmen Dr. Vanilla.Vector is used to Vanilla's not always obvious plans and understands her better than most other people. He obeys the doctor, taking all insults in his direction and doing some humiliating things without unnecessary questions. Vector tends to consider himself the smartest in any situation. This may not always be true, but he is really quite smart, considering that he lasted the longest as Dr. Vanilla's assistant.Vector usually shows a calm side of himself. However, he speaks in a rude tone and may not pay attention to the details of the conversation. At the same time, Vector himself does not mind and frankly deceive and mislead, imitating Dr. Vanilla, whom he admires and respects.
---
Amy Rose is a combat soldier created by former subordinate Vanilla -Tails. Amy was originally created to destroy Blaze the Cat, but then Tails directed his forces to create his empire. Rose has become a leading force that helps Tails with his plans. Amy is gloomy, speaks little and is cold-blooded towards any battle or opponent. It can release lightning bolts from its body and also move at equal speeds with the Blaze the cat. Her main ability is dark inspiration, which causes the worst and most evil in the personality to wake up. She does not show emotions even during the battle, because she is gnawed that she is just a living weapon created for destruction. But despite this, she finds the company of the robot convenient for her, to some extent she considers the Metal unit her only friend. She is ready to listen to the ideas of others when she admits that she does not really have a special plan of her own that could be implemented, which makes her more open to suggestions. In the future, she will hate Tails and will be obsessed with finding her real family, although it is still unknown whether she was created in a laboratory or was kidnapped for experiments. He likes to use a bat that can absorb energy from Emp or other sources and then release it in the form of lightning. She hides that she likes to be read bedtime stories.
Metal unit v.3.0—Was created as an attempt to replace Jimerl, but now monitors the state of the Amy. Metal was created with an eye on the doctor's past work, trying to do everything so that the Robot would not get out of control and rebel against the creator. However, due to the advanced adaptive artificial intelligence, he soon overcame the program. He was programmed to take care of Amy, but then the program turned into true emotions. He likes to cook , but because of the imperfection of his program, the food he prepares becomes a biological weapon. The unit is able to use its powers to control water, is able to create whole storms and even tornadoes. Due to the connection and trust with Amy, he is able to combine his attacks and non-attacks. However, he can be too obsessed with Amy's safety, which is why after her defeat he can retreat, taking the hedgehog with him. He speaks politely and formally, addressing others as "sir" or "ma'am." Despite his restrained behavior, he is capable of moments of strong emotions: when he thought that Amy had been fatally injured, he flew into a rage and destroyed everything he saw.
Tails Miles Prower is a former fan of Dr. Vanilla, who decided that he would outgrow his idol and that he would be able to take over the world. He has a lot of knowledge in the field of creating cyborgs, mutants and robots. Uses Warp Topaz and its energy to open portals, hypnosis, and energy shots from a prosthetic eye. He voluntarily replaced some parts of his body, which is why he received additional abilities:Shooting a laser beam from the eye, hacking techniques, strengthening strength thanks to a robo hand. Initially admired the work of Dr. Vanilla, an unrecognized scientific genius and a big ego forced Tails to enter the road of crime. In addition to his intelligence, the fox is a pretty dexterous manipulator. He could masterfully use other people to his advantage to get them to cooperate with him or lure them into traps, and he knew exactly how to strike his enemies where it hurt the most. The fact that he had been an outcast for so many years made him bitter and cynical. A selfish genius who puts his own well-being above everything else.He is very easily ready to say goodbye to the life of another living being, so he immediately put Amy in front of a choice either she serves him or dies. Tails managed to sew a device inside Amy's heart that can stop the girl's heartbeat. He has absolutely no sympathy and considers Amy and Metal as ordinary instruments that can be replaced.

are all of the dragons in dracones mundi based on folklore? or are there a few original dragons in there?
Of the 70 dragon species, 14 of them are either based on pop culture or are a non-folklore idea (leaving 56 dragons which are 100% folklore)
The fourteen not-folklore-dragons are...
The Dancing Dragon - which is kinda based on folklore but it's more accurately an interpretation of dancing dragon puppets from Lunar New Year festivals AND the answer to "why is dragon fruit called dragon fruit?" (these dragons can be bright purple and pink, like dragon fruit).
Glitterdrakes are small sparkly dragons that are based on small collectable dragon statues that every dragon fan and goth collects. They are a small species of firedrake, and their frills and horns are based on the collectable statues and on high fantasy art. While most firedrakes are dull reds and greens and browns, glitterdrakes are ruby red, emerald green, sapphire blue, amethyst purple, shining gold, burning amber, moonlike silver... These are very gaudy fantasy dragons but rather than being large enough to ride on these are tiny and mostly hunt birds.
Dinodrakes are 'cool dinosaur inspired dragons'. A lot of cryptozoological dragons such as Mokele-Mbembe are theorised to be modern dinosaurs by conspiracy theorists, and while I do have the Congan Plated Dragon based on Mokele-Mbembe/Emela N'touka etc. I wanted to have just a fun dinosaur inspired dragon without being constrained to making it accurate to preexisting lore.
Sandwyrms are based on Shai Hulud from Dune and on Graboids from Tremors and just the pop-culture idea of a terrible big worm lunging out of the sand at you. Sandwyrms are not 100% based on pop-culture, however, as their juvenile form is olgoi-khorki or the Mongolian Death Worm.
Coastwyrms are things I made up to answer the question "if dragons are real, which dragon does a dragon-headed-caterpillar resemble?". I also made the juvenile form incredibly cute to gain clout on the internet.
Snapdragons are to answer the question "if dragons are real, which dragon is the snapdragon flower named after?"
Cliffwyrms are just seagull dragons. I made them up. I think dragon seagulls are fun.
The Antarctic Jaculus was made up because I had no dragons in Antarctica. This dragon ties together the cliffwyrm and the inland jaculus, showing that the diving behaviour of the javeline serpent from folklore originated out at sea.
Butterfly dragons are dragons based on artwork of dragons with butterfly wings - my winged serpents have 4 wings so I thought I'd slap a butterfly motif in there. I could base it on the Pyrausta from Cyprus but to me pyrausta isn't dragon-shaped so I'm just making up my own bug dragon for fun.
Seaturtle Dragon (name pending) is loosely based on turtle dragons; I have several species of turtle dragon which ARE based on mythology so I thought "I will put a big one in the ocean as well"
Firethroat Wyverns (previously named 'grey wyverns' but they are getting a revamp) are based on spiky grey wyverns from film and TV. They are easily trained and therefore make great actor animals, which is the in-universe reason why all Hollywood dragons have that sort of grey-spiky look!
Ice dragons are a cousin of firethroat wyverns that live in the Rocky Mountains in North America. They are based on the pop-culture idea of an ice dragon, a sort of inversion of the fire breathing dragon. Not much folklore for ice dragons.
Forest wyverns are based on contemporary fantasy art of dragons with leaves-for-wings.
Prairie dragons (name pending) I added because we have a 'fire elemental', an 'ice elemental', a 'nature elemental', so if we were following the trope of fire/water/earth/air we'd need a lightning dragon too. A storm dragon. No folklore I was just being silly with this one. (Element concept link)

Just some crack but a funny way that Aster finds out just who Jaden is in your AU.
What people forget is that Aster basically called out Jaden as a copycat on live TV, which might have had some real consequences for Jaden given everything Sartorius was up to (including sending his lawyer after Jaden). Since Seto basically owns the Pro League Circuit, I can imagine something like this going down after season 2 is over: Emeralda: What did you two do?! Sartorius: I plead innocent via act of possession. Aster: I listened to Sartorius. Seto: Gentlemen, you're not gonna sit here and pretend there's not a big-ass elephant in the room. Emeralda: Could you please explain to us what is going on, Mr. Kaiba? Seto: *turns a picture frame next to his "World's Best Oto-san" mug on desk around, revealing a photo of Jaden* This is what is going on! Sartorius & Emerald: *immediately putting the pieces together* OH. Aster: *going through the 5 stages of grief at the same time as he remembers every time Jaden gave details of his family* Seto: Now, could you all explain to me one more time as to why I had to call every duelist sponsor on the planet to have them retract my son's blacklisting?
I know Aster calls Jaden out on live tv but I didn’t think about Spencer’s blacklisting him because of it.
You know Seto is furious. Like the fact he waited this long to drag them all in front of him was because Jaden wanted to handle it with a duel. (He lost) then Jaden wasn’t able to see his cards/got sent to a mini dimension. Then Jaden wanted to handle Sartorius on his own, “there’s something not right here Oto-san let me check it out.”
Jaden has been their saving grace. But he can’t shield them forever. Now that everything is settled and Seto knows it was a possessions situation. That still doesn’t change the facts that Jaden got blacklisted because of this kid. Or that Jaden will know have to face an uphill battle if he ever joins the pro-leagues because that interview will forever be in peoples minds. That his baby boy, who has been using hero cards before they were a proper archetype, has somehow copied this kid. Sure it will be better if Jaden uses exclusively Neospacians and Aster uses Destiny hero’s (they are different archetypes) but anytime Jaden breaks out the Elemental hero’s he’s going to be compared to Aster and the video clip of Aster calling him a copy cat is going to resurface.
His boy deserves so much better.
And you know aster is sitting there losing his mind staring at the photo is Jaden. Like he already feels bad about the interview. He didn’t truely know Jaden at the time. But know he does. Jaden loves his hero cards, has used them for years. He and aster should have been best friends for the get go. Heck if aster had played his cards right Jaden and him would have made one heck of a tag team in the pro leagues since their decks play so well off each other.
And now with the added knowledge that Jaden is Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba’s son!!! Do you know how popular they would have been as a duo. Or just as friendly rivals. And while that’s what he and Jaden know are, friends, he has forever damaged his friend’s public image. Sure Jaden forgives him but Aster was already being eaten alive by the guilt. He thought Jaden didn’t realize the severity of what he’d done.
But Jaden is the prince of duels he knows exactly how bad what Aster did was, and he still forgave him. Aster’s spiraling and oh look there’s and angry Seto Kaiba glaring down on them.
This could get funnier though if this is the start of summer break.
Jaden has no clue this meeting is happening and goes to surprise his Oto-san, maybe go out for lunch or drag him down to the duel arena. He just wants to spend time with his Oto-san and the family is all for Jaden dragging Seto away from work. He bust into the office taking off his hat and sunglasses as he does so. “Hey Oto-san do you-”
Aster whips around to stare at Jaden Yu-Muto. Jaden Muto. In the eyes. And Jaden is so shocked because he still doesn’t want anyone to know who he is. (And why do his friends keep showing up at Kaiba Corp in the summer! First Chumley and now Aster!!! Who’s next Chazz???)
The two boys stare at each other for a long moment. Seto trying reign the meeting back in. “So you can see why I’m quite upset”
Jaden is not listening to his Soto-san right now “please don’t tell anyone!” He screeches
At the same time Aster yells “why haven’t you told anyone!” Which fair half of their problems last year would have been problems if the school knew who Jaden was. (The whole plot to destroy the Slifer Dorms)
It’s a lot of chaos but eventually Aster understands why Jaden wants to keep this a secret (it totally makes sense) and he swears not to tell anyone. He still has to sit through Seto and his team reading them the riot act over what they have done to Jaden’s future career and steps that they WILL take to fix it.
In the end though Jaden drags him down to their state of the art dueling arena and Aster gets to duel against his friend. And he thinks that’s it. It’s just going to be the two of them ducking it out. But when the finish Jaden asked to duel his Oto-san and Aster gets to watch the Prince duel against Seto Kaiba. And while that happening Yugi, Atem, and Joey show up and now he’s getting the opportunity to duel people who are in the premier league, which is higher then the pro and he thought it would be years before he got to duel any of them and yet here they are ruffling Jaden hair and dueling for fun.
I might have to change the timeline of my au to make this cannon. This is why I love asks.

The Good Witches of Oz (7)
The same way the MGM Wicked Witch had a HUGE impact leading to her almost co-existing as a separate character from Baum's witch, MGM's Glinda more clearly caused a rupture with Baum's Good Witches. Many, MANY are the "Glindas" of Oz media who are actually reinventing the MGM character, "Glinda Good Witch of the North" instead of Baum's Glinda (Sorceress of the South).
One of the most prominent "alternates" would be Glinda as she appears in "Oz: The Great and Powerful". Her character is... okay, it is a very weird mix.
This movie was an alternate version of the MGM movie - as a result, this Glinda is supposed to be the same as the MGM Glinda. She is the sole and unique Good Witch of Oz, who uses bubbles to go around... Yet, due to OtGaP NOT being part of the MGM properties, the character had to be altered. She is blond here (clearly a nod to Wicked's Glinda), the pink puffy dress if gone for body-fitting, simpler white-and-silver dresses with a lot of feathers. The crown becomes a diadem, the star-staff becomes a magic wand with a diamond on top (cementing the idea that white is Glinda's color here)... And character wise something completely knew pops up: Glinda is here reinvented as the legitimate princess of Oz and the daughter of Pastoria trying to avenge her father's death at the hands of the Wicked Witches... Which would make her an alternate version of Ozma too, filling the same "fairy princess" role.
Magic wise we can also note a "play" on Glinda using bubbles and snow in the MGM movie - with here Glinda being closely tied to both water and light, as opposed to the fire and lightning of Wicked Witches.
Another blond Glinda with a body-fitting white dress, ALSO created by Disney, was Once Upon a Time's Glinda. In fact, OUaT's Oz take was VERY influenced/corelated to Oz the Great and Powerful: most notable being the use of cristals as the source of the witches' magic, with Glinda's also being tied to a diamond (as opposed to Zelena's emerald). We also have a play on Glinda's association with snow in the MGM movie - but as opposed to OtGaP where Glinda's mastery over snow was expanded to other forms of water (like mist), here snow is Glinda's prison since in the backstory Zelena banished her to frozen wastelands she cannot ever leave.
A last "white-colored Glinda, witch of the north" is the one from the TV show Emerald City. Again, she is a version of the MGM Glinda - as she is Glinda yet also Mistress North, and the "Good Witch" (well... actually morally gray) opposing the "Wicked Witch" (in truth just as morally gray) of the West... But she also takes more cues and notes from Baum's Good Witch of the North - the insistence on the color white, her being played by an older actress, or her having been in conflict with the Eastern Witch.
Technically speaking Baum's Glinda also sort-of exist, since there is a southern witch who is supreme in power, Mother South, though she is out of the picture by the time the show begins... And ironically the role of Glinda in "The Marvelous Land of Oz" as the guide and mentor of Ozma is here taken away by Mistress West. A last twist to note is how, unlike the previous iterations, this Glinda has no ties to snow or water (water being the western element): rather Northern Witches are tied to rock and stone...
Another noticeable "alternate MGM Glinda" is her incarnation in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. She is a literal adaptation of MGM's Glinda, and yet she had noticeable design change - such as her color going from pink to full blue (to fit her being an ally and protectress of the Munchkins). She is also given the same spiral hairstyle as the Wicked Witch of the West - reminiscent of the tornado and of a witch hat, while also clearly putting the two sorceresses in parallel and opposition.
The comics "Legend of Oz: The Wicked West" also have a lot of fun with designing Glinda. She first appears, in the original series, in a version heavily inspired by the MGM and Disney incarnations, as this pretty blond Witch in an outfit mixing a nursery rhyme idealized shepherdess and a Southern Belle all dressed in white and blue... However by the sequel series, which is adapting The Marvelous Land of Oz and delves more into the novels' lore, various details are changed to have her become more of the serious witch-queen Glinda is in the novels - notably revealing her blond hair in her first appearance was a magical hair-dye. They joke about Glinda's many hair colors in adaptations by pointing out, in their universe, that Glinda dislikes her natural red hair, but no matter how she tries to change her hair color, it never sticks and constantly returns to her default red.
Also of interesting note - in this lore, where each of the cardinal directions is associated with a "precious material" (East is of ruby of course), Glinda's personal "magical material" is pearls - as a nod to Glinda's magic pearl in "The Marvelous Land of Oz".
To conclude this post I will also give a brief shout-out to the Glinda costume that recently appeared in "Agatha All Along"

1, 4, 6-9, 12, 17, 18, 24, and 25 for the Rocky Read asks, please?
I answered 1 & 9 here. 7 is here.
4. An underutilized setting or world: Lumar, the world of Tress of the Emerald Sea. I fully acknowledge how unfair it is of me to be like "Brandon, write more books!" when even this one was a surprise bonus. However, this world and its magic was so cool, and there are more seas to sail! I really hope to get more stories on Lumar. The title even seems perfect as the first of a series of Tress [prepositional phrase] books.
6. An author you want to rescue from the story they told: (I'm not totally sure if this is what this is asking but,) I'd rescue Pierce Brown. I adore the Red Rising series, but I think Brown probably is having a hard time wrapping things up because of things he wrote in earlier books without having a plan for the ending. Dark Age made the story especially unwieldy with a bunch of new plot threads, and not all of them were great choices. A big reason I want to see this series adapted into a TV show is so that the story can be more polished, hopefully with Brown directly involved. I think he'd like a chance to do some things differently.
8. A book you thought you would hate but loved: I hate to say it, but The Hunger Games! I didn't exactly think I'd hate it, but I just dismissed it as probably being dumb just because my stepsister was the first person to tell me about it and recommend it. Based on other books she liked, I didn't have much trust in her taste. A year or two later, as the movie was being made, I started hearing more about it and was intrigued. I went back to her and said, "Was it The Hunger Games you said I should read? Can I borrow it?" And look at me now, all these years later!
12. A book on hold that you do mean to finish: Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. Poor book. I've started and then paused it a few times now when other books I was waiting for were published or I got off hold from my library. It seems good so far!
17. A book that you were spoiled for: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. I won't spoil it here, but there's a revelation about one of the characters which I'd already found out from Tumblr long before reading the book. It's a great twist that I have always wondered if I would have guessed while reading or been shocked by if I hadn't known about it before.
18. A book where you like the adaptation or an element therein better than the book itself: Q & A by Vikas Swarup. This book was adapted into the movie Slumdog Millionaire. I love the movie. The book is okay. The movie ties the stories together in a more satisfying way, and it just makes you feel so much more!
24. A book you feel more positively about now than when you first read it: The Scarlet Letter. I read it in high school, and much of its complexity went over my head. When I reread it as an adult, I understood it better and felt more sympathy for the characters.
25. A book you feel more negatively about now than when you first read it: The Maze Runner. I thought it was setting up an interesting mystery. Then I read the next book and realized the author had no plan and was just throwing in random ideas in this series.

Dream is attacked and captured, again. An old enemy returns to exact revenge. A new love must come to his aid. Oh, and there are wings involved and quite a lot of pain. I had the idea that I REALLY wanted to see the story behind this image. So I figured the best way to get that would be to create a story challenge. I've included the art and a bit of writing to get things going. Should anyone be interested in jumping into the mix I'd love to see what you come up with! You are welcome to go any direction you like, as long as you retain the elements provided - including tags (though I would ask if maybe you could avoid deathfic for the sake of my heart.)
His body arched in hot agony as the last word of the incantation triggered the spell. His mind was ripped away from the Dreaming and sealed his vocal chords - the only sound he could make a broken keen. The long bones in his wings first creaked, then snapped, and everything shot through with red as pain like he'd never known overcame every thought.
Time did not track, afterward.
A soft tremble of sound was the first of sensations to return to him. Taste eased in while he pulled stale air past his lips – confused at the body that demanded respiration. His lips pulled back at the offensive flavor of metal and rot – far too long before realizing it was blood.
Then, bypassing the rest of his waking body, fire raged across his form and forced a choked cry – his muscles locked in anguish. With the slamming return of sensation, Dream felt the icy cold of his surroundings. He'd been trembling and the soft sound, first to greet him, has been the shattered spread of his wings moving against the concrete floor as he shivered violently.
It was dark in the room he occupied. He couldn't remember how he'd come to this. He'd been... He'd left a meeting with Hob. He'd recently agreed to a change to their interactions – no longer restricted to centennial engagements. It had been... pleasant. He'd stepped out of the New Inn while darkness still ruled the skies. He'd been looking to the stars overhead and contemplating a flight...
There were no memories to follow.
Dream braced his hands against the floor. A tight whimper made it past his clenched teeth as he tried to push himself up. The dead weight of his wings left him with shaking arms – the pressure increasing the more he tried to fight it – until he was forced to sink back down with a rough gasp.
And then another sound came to him – a distant crunch like shoes on gravel. Shortly after there was a muted squeal of metal. The steps came more clearly – approaching for several seconds. Then, there was a series of beeps, before a deep clunk vibrated the floor beneath him. Before him, a heavy door began to swing open – a cool light stabbing a blade of light into the dark. There was a silhouette against the brightness. Stepping forward, leather soles crunched on the loose rock peppering the floor and digging into Dream's belly. The figure stopped just a foot from one outstretched hand. Eyes lifted up – up – past a trim suit and ascot with embedded emerald, until he finally was looking upon an impossibility.
Alex Burgess – whole and hale as he'd been in his late twenties.
“Hello there, Dream of the Endless. It has been far too long.” And with a grin, he lifted one foot, and stomped with all of its force on Dream's hand.

i remember someone asking you how would you conceptualize a sonic tv show a couple of years ago and you said something about taking the core aspects of the characters and make them play out like with batman TAS. if so, what other ideas do you have about something like that?
Well, first we'd have to identify what the universal ideal of Sonic the Hedgehog is. That's what Batman TAS did -- it took every variant of Batman ever created and distilled them down into their purest essence.
So my first inclination would be to just start over and maybe retell the events of the Genesis games but with new context, but that's not what Batman did. I'm not even sure how long it took Batman TAS to retell Batman's origin story (judging by this list, maybe 26 episodes). It assumes you know who the character is and tells very simple, iconic stories regarding that universe.
So then you have to ask yourself: what does the purest essence of Sonic look like?
Is it Classic Sonic? Modern Sonic? Something in-between? The above two are Tyson Hesse sheets, and I use them because one, I like the way he draws Sonic, and two, he's kind of been the guiding force behind Sonic's appearances in 2D animation in the last decade. The boy draws a good hog.
And in that regard, I believe he drew this as his way of trying to blend Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic design sensibilities:
Short, scruffy, and a little athletic. But still identifiably the way Sonic has always looked.
Unfortunately, I think Eggman changes too much to really blend two aesthetics together -- again, we're not so much looking to create "our version of Eggman", we're looking to create The Ideal Eggman. So we could probably settle with Classic Eggman and leave it at that. It's a more simplistic design, if nothing else.
From there you just start... telling stories. Not necessarily origin stories, like I don't think we really need an episode where we see Eggman build Metal Sonic. Metal Sonic is just already there.
If you do tell an origin story, it has to be in service of focusing on a specific element of what makes that character sing. Like, I mentioned episode 26 of Batman TAS was probably where they finally touched on Batman's origin, but that's because it's an episode about Crime Alley, the place Bruce's parents were killed. It's not a story about Batman's origin.
So if we tell Metal Sonic's origin story, it has to be referenced within something else as a pillar to strengthen the story being told. It cannot be an origin story about Metal Sonic, because you have to assume the audience already knows who Metal Sonic is. Again, you're not here to show how your Metal Sonic is different, you're here to show the perfect, idealized, purest distillation of Metal Sonic. This is every Metal Sonic in one, shaven down and polished to a mirror finish.
So then, what's interesting about Metal Sonic as a character? Well, he knows, on some level, that he's Sonic. He has some awareness that he's a copy, and he both wants to make his creator (Eggman) proud and also become the one true Sonic (by incapacitating or otherwise destroying the actual Sonic). He is also a creation of Eggman, so there's some desire to subjugate and rule the world in there somewhere (to be evil, in other words).
This means we have a villain with confused goals. He is controlled but strives to break free of that control. But he still wants to be evil. Maybe for reasons he doesn't really understand.
So maybe we tell a story where Sonic's out on a run, looking for a Chaos Emerald. No particular reason, just he thought it would be a good idea to collect one or two to have on hand just in case. Make it so nobody could easily have all seven.
As he gets close to where he thinks an emerald is, he gets blindsided by Metal Sonic, and they have a fight. Sonic reaches under the cuff of his glove and pulls out a tiny communicator he uses to radio Tails with, asking if he's heard any movement from Eggman recently. Tails has not. Then why is Metal Sonic out here?
Tails has Sonic lure him close to the workshop, where Tails runs a scan on Metal.
Turns out: Metal Sonic had the same idea as Sonic. Because Metal Sonic is operating on all of Sonic's thoughts and memories (a good aside to establish here), he independently decided to go on a mission to gather up some (or all) of the Chaos Emeralds "just in case" with the idea of giving them to Eggman. Obviously both Metal and Sonic know they're doing the same thing, so there's no easy way to get Metal Sonic to just stop and go away, right?
So, Tails comes up with an idea: a fake emerald, for a fake Sonic. I don't know that we have to reference Sonic Adventure 2 here, but maybe there could be an offhand reference about how Tails has "always had the technology to synthesize a fake Chaos Emerald." The problem now is getting Metal Sonic to believe the fake emerald is real.
Maybe, for the sake of the plot, a real Chaos Emerald has to be within proximity to hide the energy signature of the fake more easily. So now we have our episode finale: Sonic has to let Metal attack him, they have to fight over the fake emerald, but oh no Tails gets dragged in, and there's a mix up. Who has the real emerald, and who has the fake?
Everyone involved knows one of the emeralds is fake, and Tails has a piece of technology that helps him identify the real one, but it's easy to get confused as to who has which one (by design, that's why there's a real Chaos Emerald here).
The episode ends with our heroes (presumably) having the real one. We see Metal Sonic return to Eggman's city (Scrap Brain Zone) and there's a POV shot where it says "Deliver Emerald To The Doctor" like a mission objective. Metal Sonic pauses for a moment, staring in to the Emerald, and we see the objective get minimized for a new one:
"Take The Untold Power For Yourself."
Metal Sonic's hand transforms, or his chest opens up, or something happens where he's going to use the emerald to power himself up. He starts to accept the emerald's energies, everything looks like it's working just fine, but there's an anomaly, the wavelengths go haywire, and the emerald explodes.
Our final shot is a severely damaged Metal Sonic limping into Doctor Eggman's lab, who is completely unaware of what just happened. He dotes on Metal, cursing what Sonic has done to him. And Metal Sonic just silently stares.
Now I'm no Bruce Timm or Paul Dini, but to me, that gestures towards the type of storytelling I think a TAS-style Sonic show would lean towards.
