jvst finished this series and it is so heartbreaking.. i had to tvrn my phone off and sit for a second to stop crying. it is beautifully written. every emotion perfectly described. the stages of grief shown without high emphasis, the stages of moving on, the moments of dealing w their absence like moving their stuff or sitting somewhere they sat daily, and knowing that they will only ever sit there again in a memory.. gah i cant stop crying. soso good. <3

Spencer Reid had always been an odd, secretive man. Upon first glance, he seems unassuming, but that small, warm smile hid a quiet torment; a pain unlike any I'd ever seen before. His secrets came to the light one at time. Slowly, cautiously, and with enough warning that he could move us out of the cross hairs.

When we learned about his mother, we didn’t think much of it. When we learned about his addiction, it was painful, but difficult to call it a secret. We all thought we knew him so well.

Or at least, I did. I could only speak for myself.

After all, the others had tried to warn me in their own way. I should have listened. Maybe I had been a fool not to listen when he told me not to interfere. Perhaps it was really all my fault not to believe him when he’d never given me a reason not to. Because each time that I was faced with a secret from the ever-elusive Spencer Reid, he had made sure that I was safe.

That was why this phone call had been so painful.

We had failed. He wouldn’t see it that way, though. He would only blame himself. But placing blame didn’t feel so important when I stared down the barrel of a gun.

“Spencer?” I asked when the phone static crackled.

“Where are you?”

“Promise you won’t be mad,” I laughed.

He didn’t.

“Where are you?” he repeated, instead.

I wanted to answer. I tried to talk until the line cut off or the red string of fate was severed with lead. But the second my mouth opened to tell him the truth, what I had known to be true for so long, it was not me who spoke.

It was the man on the other end of the gun, with a wicked smile and a trigger finger that did not hesitate like the other secrets had.

“Time’s up, Dr. Reid.”

Is Callist0 dead? Also if TVRN is definitely not coming back do you think you could post an intended story outline if it exists?

callist0 is not dead, i am just mega busy :') and, to be totally honest, w the ebb and flow of Story Lust i've been feeling lately, among my quests on hiatus i have actually found myself itching to pick The Villains Win back up, so it's possible that when i DO have time for personal work i might pounce on that first. SORRY CALLIST0HEADS I *WILL* COME BACK FOR U

tvrn on the other hand is 100% over, but there kind of... WASN'T an intended storyline? bc it was so open-ended and interactive that i was going to actually just improv most of the major story beats and npcs, based largely on player decisions. i knew i had certain little reveals and characters i wanted to eventually meet, and certain milestones/evolutions i wanted for the main pair's relationship (and the general idea that things would go Better or Much Worse based on how well players had guided them there), but none of that really coheres into anything shareable like an outline. plus, i frequently reuse story scraps, characters, details etc in new works, even if they've been laying dormant for years, so i would rather keep a lot of that stuff ready to go in my holster :3c

To explain my last post, while I wouldn't go as far as to say that cottagecore and dark academia are inherently reactionary and that everyone or every white person into either is a fascist, but there is a very fine line between, say, enjoying mushrooms and frogs versus believing in RE/TVRN pastoral fascist shit about how life was so much better when people lived in pre-modern small farming communities and we need to go back to that trad lifestyle, and again, a fine line between enjoying old architecture and libraries versus believing in the superiority of a traditional Ivy League or Oxbridge education based on classics as if those are not bastions of upper class whiteness and imperialism, like, sorry, as a POC, I'm going to be wary of white people dressing up like a Victorian aristocrat and whining about how they wish they had been alive during the 1800s and want to start a farming commune on stolen Indigenous land bc they want to return to a life of baking bread and knitting while growing a witchy herb garden.
