Bonus info: Yoshi was created in the lab using mutagen, he was part of an experiment to create mutant soldiers. He is mutated from a turtle egg, but his reptilian DNA is stronger, he can't stand the cold and is at risk of going into hibernation in winter. He is called Yoshi to honor Splinter's memory. Yoshi calls his brothers Raphie, Dee and Mike, but refers to Leonardo as Leo sensei, sometime father. The boys see Yoshi as a little brother, but Leonardo sees him as a son. He has been trained since the age of three, learning to use different weapons but his talent is in the bow. He doesn't like Casey Jones because he hurt himself playing with him when he was little. April is his teacher, Yoshi loves studying and would like to attend school. On his fourteenth birthday, each member of the family gives him special gifts: Donnie builds a recurve bow that he can transform into a Bo stick when he runs out of arrows, Mikey an orange lucky charm bracelet, Raph a long red scarf to protect himself from the cold and Leo a special archer's gauntlet modified for his mutant hands. He chooses black as the color for his bandana because he thinks it's much more ninja. He is only allowed to follow his brothers on surface patrols since his fourteenth birthday, he has had to live in the sewers until then. He is very intelligent and likes to build weapons with Donatello, together they build a reconnaissance drone that Yoshi names Shellwing. Of the four boys, Raph gives in first if Yoshi begs him to do something, especially if he goes against Leo's orders. Leonardo is very strict with Yoshi during training, but they spend their free time watching old cartoon series like Space Heroes. Yoshi is afraid of Karai, but when he argues with Leo he always runs away to his Foot Clan lair. Mikey is the one he confides in the most when he has a problem. When Yoshi was just born he was full of vitality, in the first months he didn't let the boys sleep. Raph was the only one who could rock him to sleep, while Donnie had wasted a lot of time adjusting hundreds of diapers to fit his shell. Mikey had to learn how to cook baby turtle food, and when he learns that Yoshi loves strawberries, he invents many dishes for him. Leo spent a lot (too much) money on adorable Kigurumi pajamas for Yoshi after he went into hibernation during a very cold winter as a two-year-old. Yoshi develops a spiritual connection with Splinter, occasionally seeing and talking to him just like Leonardo has since the day of his death.  Donnie is the first to discover that Yoshi is bisexual.

I'm especially pissed about Willow. It wasn't a great show- it's choppy, predictable, trite, horrendously lit- but it's fun. I've said before that modern cinema feels soulless because we've lost the art of strangeness. My favorite movies and tv are deeply weird.

Willow is weird and it checks all of my favorite boxes. Lesbians! Necromancy! Dehydrate your himbo! Take your hot rogue & dunk him! Handmaiden/feudal lord dynamic! Snarky princess falls for cute nerd! A weird turtle! Humorously evil bureaucracy! A chosen one! An heir to an impossible burden of heroism! Young people wrestling with the wars & deceptions of their elders! An Italian lady in amazing pants! Kinky undertones! An inexplicable kigurumi! Tombs! Ruins! A thneed!

It made very little sense and could probably have been wrapped up in four hours, but boy did I have fun.

I sleep on a fairly nice couch in an unheated, mostly uninsulated garage. (because of reasons. it's fine, I'm fine)

My strategies for coping with cold are: electric blanket, many layers of blankets, warm clothing, hat.

If I lost power, I'd still be okay. Even when the outside weather gets below zero it stays warmer than that, which helps. I am warm! My body is constantly making more warm! So my job is to keep as much of that as I can, and add the electric blanket's warm as an extra safety measure plus comfort.

Bundling layers: sheet, cotton blanket, weighted blanket, fuzzy blanket, thick crocheted throw, cotton quilt. The electric blanket will go between the cotton and weighted when I finally deploy it. The cotton quilt goes over my head and the arm of the couch when it's substantially cold. I get to conserve the heat from my breath and any warmth generated from my body and the blanket are in with me. The goal is to eliminate drafts and create a barrier between me and the cold air.

It's definitely more comfortable WITH the electric blanket. I have tried using a space heater. It's useless. It can't keep up and it's heating a bunch of air that doesn't make me comfortable. The blanket warms me directly, making it a no-brainer.

I did successfully use the space heater as a kotatsu type situation, where i put it under a table, covered that table in a blanket, and ran it to keep my legs and feet warm while I worked. It even created a little pocket of warm air that DID seem to make a difference in the overall space once I lifted the blanket at the end of the day. I also think it helped turn the table into a radiant heat source. A sweater and hat and fingerless gloves took care of the rest.

For personal gear, socks are nice but fairly often I take them off. Sometimes they cut me off from warmth i've built up (my feet run cold).

Warm, loose pants, like just fuzzy pajama pants. Loose is so they can be slipped out of if it gets TOO warm (blanket turned up too high type situation) without letting a bunch of cold air in.

Long sleeve shirt. Turtle necks, light hoodies are good if you can handle it. A onesie with a hood like a kigurumi would be pretty legit.

I have a very basic acrylic knit scarf that's shawl size that I drape over my head and around my shoulders. Keeps my ears and neck warm and i can tuck my hands in there and play on my phone.

Then I put a loose knit hat over that. The particular hat I use was made by my sister in law when she was learning to knit so it's loose and nicely made but a bit comically big, it works GREAT as a hat/eyemask combo though.

My fingers get cold sometimes when I'm acting like a fool and messing around on my phone without covering my hands.

But I've been comfortably warm and safe for a few winters now with just the strats of basic shelter, electric blanket for max comfort, and layering up well to preserve my own warmth.

I have to say that my big upgrade goal for this situation in the short term is to add a bed tent, canopy, or enclosure of some kind to upgrade the "pull a blanket over my head when it's real cold" strategy a little. Plus I always wanted a canopy bed, they're so cute.

-Tatami is pretty much the same age as Kirishima but a year ahead in school. He cheers her on when she graduates Ketsubutsu and becomes a sidekick

-he buys her a turtle Kigurumi and a #1 sidekick mug as congrats when she goes to work for Miruko.

-Tatami texts him a lot when he's still at UA and when he graduates.

-She gets him the tackiest looking custom hoodie and shark mug.

Attempting Conviviality | Prologue | Matsuo | Closed for Seiichi

It had been a little while since Matsuo had originally stormed into his room, and it seemed like the turtle was ready to come out of its shell.  Hell, he thought, if I’m going to be forced in a game with all of them, I guess I could try speaking with one of them. 

He shuffles out of his room, peering around the area in hopes that he wouldn’t be attacked by some blubbering, extroverted fool. The last thing he wanted to do was associate himself with anyone of extreme annoyance.  It didn’t take long until he noticed that finding someone that met this standard was going to be difficult in this bunch. Only then did the fencer continue to venture out, walking throughout the area with an surprising sense of unconcern. Sure, he was stuck in a small apartment until god knows when, but was there really any danger in it? Or was it all just a sick prank? The latter, he decided, was what seemed the most likely. Because of this, he didn’t seem to be in much of a rush to meet or speak with any of the people he found himself stuck with. Most of the people living with him, it seemed, were quite the characters. They seemed to dot around the spectrum from cat girls to vampires. A lot of them, he noticed, were quite... ‘extra.’ Was that the word Katsu Mukai used to describe his own wildly colored knee-high socks? If he were lucky, he’d be using the slang correctly. There was one character that seemed to catch the fencer’s eye: A boy that seemed to be the near the same height as he, wearing what looked like an elephant kigurumi.  It was an interesting choice of garment, but Matsuo would be lying if he said he wasn’t at least a little jealous of how comfortable the boy seemed to look.  Because of the young man’s casual outfit, the fencer could only assume that he could be fond of many animals. He too enjoyed animals, so they could possibly have that in common, right...?  That’s... that’s a good ice breaker, right? The swordsman begins to stride carefully to the elephant as a small feeling of anxiety began to form in the cavity of his chest. He keeps this anxiety to himself, though-- It’d only be harder for him to make any friends if he came out awkwardly.

“Oi, Elephant boy.” Matsuo calls nonchalantly, folding his arms. “You into animals?”
