This is my therapy.

"We can get through this by working together, reach out to your friends, community is all we have, a social network will be your security in the world, now is the time to lean on others!"
I do agree, and it's scientifically sound (pretty sure there is data about how people with better social networks live longer and etc) but also....augh..... what about the severe social issues, difficulty to leave the house, physical issues which lead to like zero socialization energy a majority of the time, etc. etc. Social support can be a replacement for structural support, but.. I guess I just wish it didn't have to be. Community is extremely difficult to build, even moreso if you're someone who has issues with social cues or group conversations or even just being around others in the first place. And blah, nuance, of course I'm just complaining or maybe being too negative or maybe misunderstanding, but, I hardly have the energy to brush my hair once every 2 months.. how am I supposed to maintain a wide social network and be active in a Community and Join Groups lol... sometimes it kind of feels like "er.. well if thats my only option then...... ruh roh". It's overwhelming
#Kind of like some post I saw a long time ago talking about how even the meanest shittiest most difficult to get along with#elderly people or whaever still deserve to have some sort of systems in place to support them so they're not just relying on the#grace of relatives or etc. who may not be able to deal with them. Not saying that I'm like mean and cruel or anything#but the fact of the matter is in most social situations either I am compromising or the other person is. Not in like an ~`ouuu im so weirdd#nobody willever understand my quirky swagg hee heee~' way but like a.. Just factually the things that make me happy and comfortable#are often incompatible with people. The way I communicate and process things is different from the way other people do and that#is always a barrier. I cannot have ''easy''' interactions. Even with 'understanding' people there is nearly always a significant#amount of effort. You can't walk into a group of people and then be like ''okay you guys all have to wear#masks and you also cant play music too loud and also we should communicate turns of speaking very clearly so group conversations#arent too stressful. and also i need this and that and we have to do this and that and '' etc. etc. You CAN. And some people will#go along with that. but they will ALWAYS secretly resent you for it. You will be the one person they're relieved to not have to be around.#theyre glad when you dont show up since they can go back to doing things however they want and not masking and all these boring#annoying things. OR you can say none of that and just deal with the loud music and the talking and the unmasked people. but then#YOU'RE compromising. and no matter how nice they are it's exhausting to be around and youre just further alienated#while in the presence of people and uncofmrtoabel the whole time.#Which I'm not saying the only form of community is a group setting specificially but just giving that as an example lol#I just wish there were a better option than ''well learn to socialize normally or just suffer then'' . Which I know is not what people are#saying. I guess I just always feel a bit scared when 'community is the answer'. Since its not like 'oh im just socially anxious and need to#get out of my shell~!' or something thats really that remedy-able. It's like.. my mostly unchangeable physical health issues combined#with the mostly unchangable literal way that my brain processes sensory informationand other things means that interacting with#others in a normal and easy way is incredibly difficult and often exhausting especially to maintain in any longform fashion. So then#when it's like ''the answer to staying safe is to maintain longform social connections!! :3 just reach out!!'' then.. ermm... O_O#also I'm not even one of the cutesy shy emotional hermits that's nervous. I'm the Bad Stereotype emotionless robotic cold seeming#looms in the corner of the room type of thing so people have less pity on you in that way. -_- ANYWAY gghj#I need like.. a designated social representative or something.. When I did work in that bookshop forever ago they gave me a#person who basically was just with me to help communicate with others on my behalf and supervise me and stuff. I need that.. Some#more extraverted person I can latch onto and they can maintain the Social Support Network for me and I can just be their +1 to all#of the Social Things and community. I have helpful skills I can contribute to other people and stuff it's just like.. I cant socialize lol#I cook food or something for you.. then you keep me in contact with Community.. a deal. (but then what about when I'm too sick to#contribute? as is often the case. there's not much place for people like me in communities sometimes i fear.. sigh.) ***

In a Free Use City, your knowledge on the subject of your job isn’t always what’s most important. And in your case, it’s the least important. You were actually known as quite a ditz in the Free Use City Offices.
You worked in the tech department surrounded by a bunch of hot and nerdy guys who spoke in yours you couldn’t even begin to understand. You were just happy to be there and they were happy to ogle you and press against you whenever you asked for their help with any simple task.
They thought they had the upper hand on you, thinking they were so clever. But you had them all on a leash. An entire department at your disposal to give you pleasure whenever you wanted.
Your favorite man to bother was IT Robot. He got his work done fast and spent the rest of the day goofing off. The easy air around him made him approachable and the way all his shirts fit snugly against his bulging pecs made you drip with need.
You can’t help but spare him another glance before hesitantly returning your gaze to your own computer, the screen filled with the program you still haven’t figured out. Great, now you were confused and horny.
“Need me for something?” IT Robot’s voice suddenly purrs into your ears. His steel-like grip grabbing onto your plush hips and pulling you back into his hard chest.
His body molds to yours so perfectly it has you tingling all over. Arousal gushing and soaking through your panties. He turns you on so bad even when he barely did anything but it was like your body was out of control. As if it could be programmed just for him when he was the robot.
“Help… I hurt,” you say with a pout, your mind turning to complete mush whenever you’re around him.
IT Robot flashes you with that charming lopsided smile of his, heavily amused by the puddle you melt into whenever he talks to you.
“Where does it hurt, huh? It hurt here?”
He caresses your soft belly with an appreciation that borders on worship before one hand slips beneath your skirt, nuzzling his fingers between your soaked folds.
“Or here?” He asks while the other gives a little pat on your head.
A low whine escapes your lips as he rolls his fingers over your clit, your hips jerking into the touch. And that’s all it takes to have IT Robot plunging three of his fingers deep into your cunt, making you gasp and tremble in his arms.
“That’s what I thought… Don’t worry your pretty little head, I’ll fix the issue right away. It’s what I do after all.”
Your vision blurs as you dive into the pleasure head first. Choking out harsh moans as IT Robot’s fingers move inside you with precision like he has an entire map of your pretty pussy printed in his head. His fingers move in a blur as they pump themselves inside you, hitting all the right places that have you seeing stars. Each curl of his fingers sends your pussy fluttering and clenching down around him.
“Squeeze me tight, honey, ngh c’mon! Don’t think about a thing, just focus on being my pretty baby. My good girl.”
His words send the last thoughts in your head flying out the window, reducing you to nothing but his perfect little fuck toy. Your body relaxes without having to worry about a thing, allowing the ecstasy to overwhelm you.
IT Robot chuckles again as that fucked out expression fills your features. He flattens his palm so that it rubs hard against your clit with every snap of his fingers. With a few quick movements it has you falling over the edge and exploding all over his hand. Your vision flashes white as your orgasm rolls through you and you can’t find the strength to move any of your limbs after.
But that’s alright, IT Robot will take care of you, his fingers slipping out of your pulsing cunt with a pop, and giving your temple a soft kiss. He doesn’t bother cleaning up his hand dripping with your cum as he starts typing on your computer, solving the issue with the program you were using, and successfully helping you with both your aches.
“There, there. I’ve got you, pretty. Just keep feelin’ good. All because of me,” he whispers in your ear. Planning to spend the rest of the day doing all your work for you.

baby daddy (j.t.)
Pairing: Jason Todd x Reader
Warnings: Some blood and stuff
Word Count: 7.1k
A/N: I'll be so honest, this was way better in my head lol my execution needs work because aint no way this is 7k words and im still not satisfied perhaps this would be best as a series? but tbh i dont think i can write much more than this
It's based on this post from @batbusiness-schooldropout

"Alright, who the hell snitched?"
Jason stormed into the Batcave, helmet tucked under his arm, pissed.
Tim barely looked up from the Batcomputer, "What are you talking about?"
Jason gestured wildly, "I just had a fun little run-in with a couple of GCPD officers who very politely informed me that I have an outstanding legal matter that needs my attention. Which is news to me because I don’t exactly file taxes or have jury duty, so what the hell are they trying to pull?"
Tim blinked, "You have a warrant?"
"That’s what I’m asking you!" Jason snapped.
Tim, now curious, spun back to the screen, "Alright, let’s check."
He typed in Red Hood and cross-checked it with Gotham’s legal system. A few minor infractions came up—nothing serious—but then…
There it was.
Tim frowned, "Huh."
Jason narrowed his eyes, "What?"
"It’s… not a warrant," Tim said slowly, "It’s a summons."
Jason crossed his arms, "For what?"
Tim clicked on the file. A scanned document popped up, the words 'LEGAL NOTICE' at the top.
"Looks like someone filed you as a legal guardian," Tim muttered, "Gotham’s courts have been trying to notify you for a while now. They probably flagged it to GCPD just to get it on your radar."
Jason scoffed, "Guardian? Of who?"
Tim clicked again, "A kid named Aria (L/N)."
Jason frowned, "That name means nothing to me."
Tim went still.
Jason’s stomach sank, "...What?"
Tim very slowly turned the screen toward him.
Jason stared.
Child’s Name: Aria (L/N) Mother: (Y/N) (L/N) Father: Red Hood
His brain just stopped working.
Dick, passing by with his coffee, glanced at the screen, "Oh, damn. Jay, you finally settling down?"
Jason whipped around to glare at him, "I don’t know this woman! I don’t have a kid!"
"Legally, you do." Tim pointed out.
Jason turned back to the screen, rubbing his temples, "Why is my life like this?"
Tim scrolled further, "Looks like the mother put your name down instead of the real father’s. And since Gotham courts don’t do DNA tests without permission from both parents… that guy got screwed out of custody."
Jason clenched his jaw, "And now they’re trying to find me because I’m on record as the dad."
Tim squinted at the file, then choked.
Jason looked at him warily, "...What?"
Tim covered his mouth, trying so hard not to laugh, "There's a comments section."
Jason leaned over his shoulder, eyes scanning the document. Then he saw it.
Additional Comments: "He kept the helmet on the whole time."
The Cave went dead silent.
Jason stared. Tim bit his lip. Dick was turning red trying not to lose it.
Then—
Tim wheezed.
Dick howled.
Jason smacked his forehead against the Batcomputer, "I hate everything."
He then exhaled sharply, cutting off his mental breakdown before muttering, "Okay. Fine. I’ll go find the mother and figure this out."
Dick snickered, "Tell Aria Daddy’s coming home."
Jason threw a batarang at him.
***
"Hi, honey, I'm home."
The distorted, robotic voice from his helmet made you freeze in place. Your pulse thundered in your ears, dread settling like a stone in your stomach. You knew exactly why the Red Hood was in your apartment.
You turned slowly, keeping your hands in sight as if that would make a difference, "Please, don't. My daughter is in the next room. She only has me."
"Don't you mean our daughter?" He bit out, sarcasm cutting through the voice modulator.
Despite whatever anger he held toward you, he hesitated, feeling pity. You must have looked terrified.
"I'm not here to hurt you," He said after a beat, "I just want an explanation."
You swallowed hard, forcing yourself to stay calm, "Her father is an asshole. I couldn’t let him have any rights over her, so I wrote your name down on all her documents. Gotham has no way of verifying, so they just had to take my word for it."
You met his gaze, your voice steady despite the situation, "I’m sorry if I made things complicated for you, but this was the only way I knew to keep his hands off her."
Jason exhaled sharply, shifting his weight, "How long did you think this would go unnoticed?"
You hesitated before answering, "Well… 'our' daughter turned five last month, so I figured you weren't going to find out anytime soon. Guess I was wrong."
You knew of Red Hood. You knew what he stood for. No matter what, he would never hurt a child. Ever. And if the rumors about him were true, then he would realize that you had only been acting in Aria’s best interest.
He studied you, the lenses of his helmet unreadable, but you could feel the weight of his scrutiny. This was an invasion of privacy—probably illegal, even—but instead of anger, he seemed... intrigued. You weren’t what he expected. You were clever, maybe even reckless, but clearly devoted to your daughter.
And—if he was being honest—pretty. Definitely pretty.
"Why me?" He finally asked, "Why not any of the other Bats?"
You shrugged, "Of all of them, you seemed like the least likely for civil court to track down." That much was true—any time someone tried to drag Red Hood into Gotham’s legal system, he either ignored it or laughed in their face before firing a warning shot.
"You're also the scariest, aside from Batman. And I didn’t want him getting any ideas about recruiting Aria for his next child vigilante project once Robin retires again." You smirked, "Lastly, having a baby daddy without a no-kill rule seemed like a great way to keep that deadbeat asshole far, far away from us."
Jason flat-out laughed at that. The sound, even through the voice modulator, carried warmth.
"You make an excellent argument," He admitted.
You relaxed slightly, "I am sorry. If I knew it was going to bother you, I never would have done it."
He shrugged, completely unbothered, "Doesn’t bother me. You were doing right by your kid. I can respect that."
Relief washed over you, and you smiled. You didn’t push the conversation further—if he wanted to be taken off her documents, he’d ask.
Instead, he surprised you.
"Can I meet her?"
Your breath caught, "Who? Aria?"
"I mean, legally, she’s my kid, right? That means I have visitation rights."
Apprehension prickled at the edges of your mind. Had you just swapped out one danger for another? You had gone to great lengths to keep Aria safe from one man—had you unknowingly invited another into her life?
Jason seemed to sense your hesitation. "You can say no," He said, almost gently, "But I just found out I have a daughter today. I’d like to meet the girl who made you pull a stunt this reckless and brave."
You could say no. You probably should say no.
And yet, as you looked at the masked man standing in your too-small living room, you couldn’t bring yourself to do it.
"...Okay," You said at last, "But you might want to take off the mask. She scares easy."
Jason chuckled, low and amused. You half-expected him to refuse, to make some offhanded comment before declining the invitation and leaving, but instead, you heard the soft click as he unlocked his helmet and pulled it off.
Dark, slightly messy hair with a single white streak. Stormy blue eyes. Sharp cheekbones and full lips.
"Wow," You breathed before you could stop yourself.
He raised a brow.
You cleared your throat, cheeks warming, "I can see where our daughter gets her good looks from."
Jason snorted, shaking his head.
"Aria, honey!" You called, turning toward her room, "Come out for a second, please!"
The door creaked open, followed by the soft pitter-patter of tiny feet. Aria emerged in a pink tutu, a plastic wand in her hands, and a sparkly tiara perched on her head.
She blinked up at Jason with wide, curious eyes.
"This is Mommy’s friend, Red Hood," You told her, "He wanted to say hi."
Aria beamed, "Hi, Mr. Hood!" She grabbed the edges of her tutu and curtsied, just like the princesses in her favorite cartoons.
You glanced at Jason. His expression had softened, the barest hint of a smile tugging at his lips. For a man who had probably seen the worst the world had to offer, he looked completely in awe.
Jason, the Red Hood—the most terrifying name in Gotham’s underworld—cleared his throat, gripping his helmet a little tighter.
"Uh. Hi there." He said, voice definitely shaking.
You bit your lip, looking down to hide your smile.
This huge crime lord, who had probably seen more murders tonight than you had in your entire life, was nervous talking to a five-year-old.
Aria giggled, "You talk funny."
Jason blinked, "I do?"
She nodded, "Your voice is all rumbly! Like Batman!"
Jason made a very undignified sound, "I am nothing like Batman, princess."
Aria gasped dramatically, "You know Batman?!"
***
Jason didn’t know exactly how he ended up in this position.
After that first meeting with Aria, he’d been more than ready to let you both get back to your lives. You had only put his name down as Aria's father to scare off her real father; he had no place here.
And yet.
When he found himself alone in his apartment, staring at the ceiling, or in the rare moments of silence while working on cars, his mind drifted. He’d think about Aria—her wide, innocent eyes staring up at him, the way she had curtsied like a damn princess, completely unafraid of the man Gotham whispered about in fear.
An unfamiliar squeeze tugged at his heart.
He had a daughter.
And the more he thought about her, the more he wanted to protect her—to keep that innocence untouched, to make sure she was safe and happy. He wanted to be a father.
Then, inevitably, his thoughts turned to you.
You hadn't spoken for long, but somehow, you’d managed to stick in his mind. Despite it being the end of the day, exhaustion tugging at you, there had been a light in your eyes—something warm, something alive. He found himself drawn to it.
The confidence in your posture, the way you had no trouble meeting his eyes, the sheer sass you had thrown his way despite knowing exactly who he was. And above all, the love and protectiveness you had for Aria.
You were nothing like anyone he had ever met before.
A couple of days later, he found himself knocking at your door again.
He had told himself it was just to check on Aria after a Joker attack. That was reasonable, right? He had to make sure she was safe. That’s all it was.
You had offered him dinner. He declined.
Then, a couple of days after that, he found himself there again—this time after a Poison Ivy incident.
You offered him dinner again.
This time, he obliged.
That night, he sat at your dinner table with you and Aria, listening as she excitedly told him about school. He learned about your job, about the little details of your life, and—much to his amusement—was introduced to what Aria called the greatest meal in the entire world.
Hello Kitty-shaped pasta.
He raised a brow at you.
You shrugged, "It’s expensive, but it makes her happy."
Jason huffed a small laugh, "What’s the special occasion?"
Aria beamed, practically vibrating in her seat.
"I got made line leader today!" She announced proudly.
You glanced at her with a mix of amusement and pride, eyes warm, "It’s a big deal."
Jason turned to Aria, his chest tightening at the way she puffed herself up with pride. Without thinking, he reached out and ruffled her hair like it was second nature.
"Good job, princess," He murmured.
Her entire face lit up.
And just like that, Jason Todd was done for.
It had been two months since Jason first met the both of you, and now, sitting at the dinner table, he was experiencing his first real parental crisis.
It was obvious that Aria was in a bad mood.
She barely touched her food, half-heartedly pushing it around her plate. Even when you suggested ordering takeout—usually a foolproof way to lift her spirits—she just shook her head. You and Jason exchanged a concerned glance over her head.
Something was clearly wrong.
You sighed, resigning yourself to the hope that she’d tell you before bed or at least over breakfast tomorrow.
"I'm just gonna go take a shower, do you mind?" You asked, gesturing toward Aria.
Jason didn’t hesitate before nodding.
You smiled gratefully, pressing a kiss to Aria’s crown before leaning over and doing the same to Jason.
A month ago, that would’ve made him jump out of his skin. Now, after two months of shared dinners—some planned, others happening more naturally—he only sat there, heart racing in his chest, pretending that wasn’t the highlight of his day.
When he heard the shower turn on, he turned to Aria with a mischievous grin.
"Okay, Mom’s in the shower. What do you say to ice cream for dinner?"
Jason liked to pretend you had no idea whenever he and Aria snuck ice cream together. But ever since he convinced you to let him make homemade ice cream with protein shakes and sneaky healthy ingredients, you had stopped putting up much of a fight. Besides, he wasn’t exactly subtle. If he didn’t outright tell you, the dirty dishes in the sink were more than enough of a giveaway.
More than anything, though, he just wanted Aria to eat something.
But tonight, instead of the excited little gasp she usually gave, Aria just frowned.
"Mommy doesn’t like that."
"Princess," He said more gently, shifting in his seat, "is something wrong? You love ice cream. And Mom made one of your favorites tonight, but you’re not eating, and…" His voice softened, "That makes me sad."
Aria hesitated for a few seconds before pushing her plate away and sliding off her chair. Jason tensed, heart thudding slightly faster. Shit, did I upset her? Is she about to cry?
But she didn’t.
Instead, she ran off, returning moments later with her pink Barbie backpack. She unzipped it and rifled through its contents before pulling out a slightly crumpled piece of paper and handing it to him.
Jason smoothed the paper out.
And felt his stomach drop.
Daddy-Daughter Day!
"My teacher told us to give it to our parents," Aria said quietly, her lip trembling, "So our daddies can come visit one day."
She fidgeted, looking down at her hands.
"But… I don’t have a daddy."
And just like that, Jason Todd’s heart broke in two.
***
When you came out of the shower, towel-drying your hair and now dressed in your pajamas, you immediately looked around for Aria.
"She didn’t really want to eat, so I just put her to bed," Jason informed you.
You sighed, sinking into a chair at the dining table, "Do you think I should call her teacher tomorrow and ask if something happened? Maybe someone was being mean to her at school?"
Wordlessly, Jason slid a folded piece of paper across the table toward you. You furrowed your brows and picked it up, unfolding it to read.
Your face immediately darkened.
"This can’t be right!" You hissed, voice sharp with anger. "I thought schools had outfashioned practices like this! What happened to inclusivity and all that crap? What about kids with two moms? Or no parents at all? I’m calling up the school. I’m gonna be a full-blown Karen. I’m gonna—"
"(Y/N)—"
"No, Jason, this isn’t okay!"
Despite your fury, you kept your voice down for Aria’s sake. Jason wasn’t sure if you were about to explode or just strain your vocal cords with your whispered screams. But then, just as suddenly as your anger had flared, you seemed to fizzle out.
You slumped back into your chair, rubbing your face with trembling hands.
"I’ve done everything I can to make sure Aria never feels the absence of a father," You murmured.
"I’ve tried. I’ve—" Your voice cracked.
You let out a shaky breath and shielded your face with your hands, "My poor baby. I can’t believe she held onto this all day without telling me."
Jason think twice before he pulled you into his arms, letting you rest your head against his neck as you composed yourself.
After a moment, he spoke, "Look, I know it might not be the same, but… I was thinking. What if I attended the event with Aria?"
You stiffened, then slowly pulled back, meeting his eyes. Your expression wasn’t hopeful—it was guarded.
Jason’s stomach soured.
"Jay, I know we’ve been having a good time lately, but you can’t do that to Aria," You said, shaking your head, "If you go to this event as her dad, she’s going to see you as that. And you can’t—you can’t do that to her."
Jason swallowed hard. His voice was quieter when he asked, "What if I wanted to? To be seen as her dad? Would that really be so terrible?"
You didn’t answer.
You just stood up from the table and walked away.
Jason almost would have laughed at how much you resembled Aria in that moment if he didn't feel his stomach sinking to his feet.
But just like Aria, you also came back.
Clutched in your hands was a camera. You placed it in front of him, watching as he stared at you with unsure eyes.
"I record all of Aria’s school events," You said softly. "Don’t miss a second of it."
Jason blinked. Then, slowly, a grin spread across his face.
Before you could react, he grabbed you and twirled you around the kitchen.
You let out a surprised squeal before bursting into giggles, clinging onto his shoulders. But then, realization hit.
You were definitely not wearing a bra.
Your giggles faded, and Jason froze as well, both of you suddenly very aware of how close you were. You stared at each other, identical blushes creeping up your cheeks.
You cleared your throat.
"You can—um—you can put me down now."
***
It was almost comical how small the classroom was.
Jason had to duck his head to step inside, barely squeezing through the low doorframe. The room was packed—about fifteen other dads crammed into tiny plastic chairs that looked like they could barely support one ass cheek. Jason didn’t even bother trying. Instead, he just lowered himself to the floor, crossing his legs as he settled in.
The dads around him nodded politely as they all waited for the teachers to finish setting up and taking attendance.
"I don’t think I’ve seen you around before," A man beside him said, shifting his son in his lap, "I’m David."
"Jason," He replied, shaking his hand with a firm but polite grip.
"This is Harry," David continued, gesturing to the little boy who peeked up at Jason shyly before quickly burying his face in his dad’s shirt. Jason chuckled.
"So, which one’s yours?"
Jason glanced across the room, "Over there, in the book corner."
David followed his gaze. In the far corner, a little girl in denim dungarees rifled through a stack of picture books with a very serious expression, clearly determined to find a specific one. Jason had picked out her outfit today—he’d even let her wear the tiara she refused to take off, despite your insistence that it was an inside toy.
No doubt, she was making a mess that her poor teacher would have to clean up later.
David frowned, "Who?"
"The one with the tiara," Jason said.
David's confusion deepened, "Aria?"
Jason’s brows furrowed, "Yeah."
"Aria (L/N)?"
"Yes."
David blinked, "I—I didn’t know you were—I thought (Y/N) was single."
Jason’s expression darkened. A phantom of a scowl flickered across his face before he forced himself to relax. He wasn’t about to scare off the other parents at an event that was supposed to be important for Aria.
"She isn’t," He said simply.
David paled, "Oh. Uh—sorry." He quickly bowed his head, clearly embarrassed.
Jason smirked, barely hiding his haughty attitude. So what if he told a little white lie? It wouldn’t do any harm for Dave—or Dan, or whatever his name was—to keep his sights off you.
Really, you deserved better than some average, boring guy who probably filed his taxes early and grilled chicken without seasoning. Someone like that wouldn’t know how to handle you. He wouldn’t know how to make you laugh when you were stressed, wouldn’t know how to handle your sass, wouldn’t know how to love you the way you deserved.
No, you needed someone confident. Someone strong. Someone who could protect you and Aria. Someone with a soft side, sure, but also someone who wasn’t afraid to fight for you. Someone who would go to hell and back if it meant keeping you both safe.
Someone like…
Oh.
Jason's smirk faltered for half a second before he recovered, clearing his throat and forcing himself to focus on Aria, who was still knee-deep in her book hunt.
Well. That was something to unpack later.
***
"Now, all together, everyone! On the count of three—one, two, three!" the teacher announced cheerfully.
A chorus of tiny voices rang out.
"I love you, Dad!"
It was loud, chaotic, a jumble of high-pitched shouts that somehow blended into something warm and sweet. Parents chuckled, kids giggled, the room filled with laughter and joy.
But Jason’s heart sank.
While the other kids beamed up at their fathers, Aria clutched the handmade card in tight fists, her knuckles white. She kept her head down, lip wobbling, shoulders trembling as she struggled to say the words.
Jason knelt in front of her, his heart twisting. God, she’s so small. Both of her tiny hands barely covered his palm as he gently took them in his own.
"You don’t have to say it if you don’t want to, Aria," He told her softly, "I’m not going to force you to do anything. Just know that I love you very much, princess. That’s enough for me."
She finally looked up at him, somehow seeming even smaller despite the fact that he was kneeling. Her big, glassy doe eyes searched his face.
"You really love me?" She asked in the quietest whisper.
"More than anything, baby."
The words slipped out before he could stop them, before he could think about the weight they carried. About what it might mean for a little girl who had spent her whole life without a father.
For a moment, she just stared at him. Jason barely had time to register the emotion in her eyes before she launched herself at him, tiny arms wrapping tightly around his neck. She burrowed against him, her small frame pressing against his chest as she whispered into his ear—
"I love you, Daddy."
Jason felt his breath catch in his throat.
Oh. Oh.
He squeezed her tighter, pressing his face into her soft curls, "I love you too, princess," He murmured, voice thick with something he wasn’t ready to name.
And for the first time in a long time, Jason Todd felt like he belonged.
***
Aria had been absolutely beaming after Daddy-Daughter Day, her excitement carrying her through the evening—especially since Jason had taken her to the park afterward. She had barely managed to get through telling you about her day, slurring her words sleepily as you tucked her into bed.
You pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, smoothing down her hair before stepping away, only to find Jason waiting for you in the doorway.
You smiled at him, reaching for his hand and leading him back to the living room. Without a word, you poured him a glass of wine, knowing that, even though he wouldn’t admit it, the day at her kindergarten had probably exhausted him. The proof was in the way he let out an almost comically heavy sigh the second he sank onto the couch.
You settled beside him, resting your head on his shoulder like it belonged there, both of you staring at the very much off television in comfortable silence.
“She has a lot of energy, doesn’t she?” You murmured, amused.
Jason huffed out a laugh, “Yeah. I like to think I’m somewhat athletic, but Aria put me to shame today.”
You smiled, tilting your head slightly to look up at him, “Thanks for going today. It meant a lot to her. And to me, too.”
There was a beat of silence before Jason reached for your hand, his fingers threading through yours like second nature. His grip was warm, grounding.
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
***
Living in Gotham, you considered yourself one of the lucky ones.
Sure, you weren’t immune to the constant calamities that plagued the city, but you had managed to avoid being caught in the worst of them. Your bank had never been robbed while you were there. You had never been held hostage. You were one of the few people left who had never fallen victim to Joker venom.
Sure, your house had been broken into before—before Aria—but you were never home when it happened.
Really, you should’ve known your luck was going to run out eventually.
You had gotten too comfortable with Jason’s late-night visits, so when the knock came at your door, you didn’t even hesitate. You didn’t check the peephole. You didn’t ask who it was. You just…opened it.
Rookie mistake.
The man standing on the other side was a stranger. Tall. Built. And he made no effort to conceal the gun in his pocket.
Your blood went cold.
A smirk curled at his lips, sending goosebumps crawling up your skin. Your throat tightened.
“Hello, sweetheart. Did your baby daddy stop by?”
Your voice barely came out, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
The man tsked, stepping forward, making you instinctively press yourself against the doorframe.
“Now, now. Don’t lie,” He murmured, “It won’t end well for you—or the little runt back there.”
Your heart stopped.
Aria.
Terror clawed at your chest, your breath shuddering. Tears burned your eyes.
“Please,” You whispered, “Don’t hurt her. She’s just a child.”
“The child of the infamous Red Hood.” He tilted his head mockingly, “You can’t possibly think that means nothing.”
You shook your head violently, “She doesn’t know anything. I don’t know anything. Please.”
Your hands were iron on the doorknob, but it meant nothing.
With a single sharp shove, he flung the door open.
“I’ll be the judge of that.”
***
Jason had been having a good night.
He had just finished his patrol and was on his way to your place, eager to see you and Aria. Maybe he’d bring her some hot chocolate, tuck her into bed, and spend the rest of the night with you, pretending—for just a little while—that the world outside didn’t exist.
Then he saw the door.
Wide open.
His blood ran cold.
Jason didn’t think—he moved. Gun drawn, he stormed inside, heart hammering against his ribs like a caged animal. The second he stepped into the apartment, his stomach dropped.
The place was trashed.
Aria’s toys were scattered across the floor, your coffee table overturned, and the framed pictures on the wall had been knocked down, the glass shattered.
There had been a struggle.
Jason’s throat tightened as his eyes landed on a streak of blood smeared across the hardwood floor.
His world tilted.
No. No, no, no, NO.
His hands shook, but his grip on his gun only tightened. His pulse was pounding in his ears, deafening, drowning out everything but the rage that ignited in his chest like an explosion.
His vision blurred with fury.
Someone took you. Someone took Aria.
His family.
Jason turned sharply and stormed out of the apartment, his movements lethal and precise. He going to hunt down the bastards who thought they could take his girls and live to tell the tale.
They were going to pay.
***
"I need you to find two missing people."
That was the first thing out of Jason’s mouth the second he entered the cave. His urgency didn’t seem apparent enough to anyone, judging by the way Dick and Bruce didn’t even look up from sparring.
Tim, who didn’t bother glancing away from the Batcomputer, simply asked, “Who?”
“(Y/N) and Aria (L/N).”
At this, Dick perked up, “Your fake baby mama and kid? She might not be missing, Little Wing. Maybe she’s just at Superman’s baby shower.”
Dick wasn’t expecting boisterous laughter, but at least a huff of breath or a chuckle would have been appreciated. Instead, he suddenly found himself grabbed by the collar, yanked forward until he was forced to look Jason in the eye.
Jason’s expression was thunderous—fury on the surface, but something even more unsettling lurked underneath.
“The mother of my child and my daughter are missing, and you want to make jokes?”
Dick raised a brow, forcing himself to stay calm, “I thought you didn’t know them?”
Jason’s grip tightened for a second before he let go, stepping back. His voice was low, unwavering.
“I do now.”
***
The world felt like it was spinning in slow motion. Every breath was a struggle, your head pounding from the blow you’d taken earlier, your body screaming in pain with every movement. You tried to focus, tried to tell yourself it was going to be okay—that Aria was okay—but you weren’t okay.
You had been firm in your resolve, refusing to reveal anything about the Red Hood, willing to die on the hill that you knew nothing. But you didn’t know how much longer you could keep it up. So far, they had only hurt you—because when they had turned to Aria, demanding answers, she had wailed and sobbed until she peed herself. The memory made tears well in your eyes.
Your poor girl might walk out of this untouched, but she wouldn’t leave unscathed. This would haunt her for years to come.
And you knew—the second they turned back toward her, the second they so much as raised a hand in her direction—you would break. It didn’t matter how much you loved Jason. You couldn’t, wouldn’t, ever put anyone above Aria’s safety.
Her terrified little eyes stayed locked on you, watching as a trail of blood ran down the side of your face.
Then the door slammed open.
The sound echoed in the empty space, sharp and deafening. Your body tensed, your breath catching in your throat. The man holding you captive turned toward the entrance, a sneer curling his lips.
“Well, well,” He drawled, his voice sickeningly amused. “Looks like Daddy's finally joined us for the party.”
Your heart leaped in your chest. But you couldn’t show it. Not when Aria was still in danger.
With the momentary distraction, she crawled into your lap, and despite the blinding pain searing through your body, you pulled her in. She trembled against you, clutching onto you as if her life depended on it—and in a way, it did. You shielded her, wrapping your arms around her tiny frame, covering her eyes with your bloody hand.
You whispered sweet nothings into her ear, pressing weak kisses to her temple, hoping—praying—that it would be enough to comfort her.
Then came the first gunshot.
You didn’t dare look. You knew what was happening. You could hear it in the crack of bone, the dull thuds of bodies hitting the floor, the sharp gasps of dying men. Jason was swift. Merciless. Tearing through the people who had dared to lay a hand on you and his daughter.
He was here.
He was going to save you.
Another body collapsed nearby, and your breath hitched. You felt yourself slipping, your limbs numb, your eyelids growing heavier by the second.
Then, his voice cut through the haze—low and desperate, but still gentle.
“Sweetheart?”
You wanted to look up at him, to reach for him, but your body was betraying you. Your vision blurred, the pain making it impossible to move.
His hand cupped your face, his warmth seeping into your skin, grounding you. You tried to focus on that, tried to hold on.
“Talk to me, baby,” He murmured, his voice tight with worry.
But you couldn’t. You could barely breathe. The only thing keeping you tethered to consciousness was the familiar scent of leather and gunpowder—the scent of Jason, of safety, of home.
You felt him shift, carefully lifting you into his arms, cradling you like you were the most precious thing in the world. You instinctively leaned into him, letting his presence surround you.
Aria clung to him just as tightly, her tiny voice muffled against his chest.
“Daddy!”
Despite everything, despite the agony consuming your body, your heart swelled at hearing her call him that. When had she started calling him Dad?
Then Jason’s fingers brushed against your cheek, his thumb wiping away a stray tear you hadn’t realized had fallen. His voice was softer now, almost breaking.
“Stay with me, sweetheart.”
You forced your eyes open, locking onto his—those intense, unwavering blue eyes that had pinned you to your place the first time you had met in your apartment.
That day you had been apprehensive at best when he had asked to meet Aria, second guessing every choice you made but in the end choosing to follow your gut when it said it had a good feeling about him.
Now, you were sure of it.
“Jason,” You rasped, barely above a whisper. His head snapped down toward you instantly, his grip tightening as if he were afraid you might slip through his fingers.
“I need you to promise me something,” You murmured, your breath shallow, your chest tight.
His brows furrowed. “Anything,” He said, but the hesitance in his voice told you he already knew where this was going.
“I need you to promise…” You swallowed thickly, forcing yourself to keep going, “If something happens to me… you’ll take care of Aria. Promise me, Jay.”
He froze.
For the first time since he’d stormed in, tearing through your captors like an avenging angel, he looked terrified.
His lips parted, but no words came out. You could see the battle raging inside him—the part of him that refused to believe he could lose you and the part that was too afraid not to make that promise.
“Don’t you dare say that,” He finally whispered, voice trembling, “I’m not losing you. I won’t—”
“Promise me,” You urged. You barely had the strength to grip his jacket, but you pulled weakly at the fabric anyway, needing him to understand.
His eyes glistened with unshed tears, his breath coming out in uneven bursts. But he wasn’t crying. Not yet.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he swallowed hard and nodded.
“I won’t let anything happen to you,” He swore, his voice breaking. “I won’t let her grow up without you. I promise.”
The relief that washed over you was instant. Even as your vision darkened at the edges, even as your body started to give out, you felt… safe. At peace.
With your last burst of strength, you reached for Aria’s tiny hand, wrapping it in your weak grasp. You gave her a faint squeeze, managing the smallest of smiles.
“I love you,” You whispered, barely loud enough to be heard, “Both of you.”
Jason's breath hitched. His grip around you tightened, as if he could physically keep you here, tethered to him, to Aria, to the life he couldn't bear to lose.
“No, no, sweetheart—stay with me," He pleaded, his voice cracking, raw with panic. He pressed his forehead against yours, his breath shaky, "You don’t get to say that like it’s the last time. You don’t—Please (Y/N)—" His voice broke completely, and for the first time in a long time, Jason Todd was afraid.
Because he knew what loss felt like. Knew it too well.
And he couldn't—wouldn't—survive losing you too.
Aria let out a whimper, squeezing your fingers with her tiny hand. "Mommy?" Her voice was so small, so scared, and it shattered something inside him.
He shifted you in his arms, holding you closer, keeping you upright even though your body was limp.
“I love you too, sweetheart," he whispered, but the words felt hollow, like a plea rather than a promise.
Aria began to sob loudly, little hands grabbing at your sleeve, trying to shake you awake, “Mommy, wake up! Please!”
Her wails were raw, desperate, but Jason had to hold her back, had to keep her from accidentally hurting you any further. His grip on her was gentle but firm, even as his own body trembled with barely restrained terror.
He buried his face in her hair, biting back the sob threatening to claw its way out of his throat. He held you tighter, as if he could physically keep your soul tethered to him, as if just holding you close would stop the light from fading from your eyes.
He had never felt this helpless.
Jason Todd, the Red Hood, the man who had clawed his way back from the grave, who had survived horrors most people couldn’t even imagine—he was useless when it mattered most.
He was holding the broken pieces of this family.
A family that had been good, that had been safe before he came into the picture. A family that had welcomed him with open arms, treated him as though he had never been missing in the first place.
And what had he done in return?
He had ruined it.
He had brought his war, his bloodstained hands, his cursed existence into your lives, and now you were paying the price for it.
If he had never been selfish enough to stay, to want this, to think—even for a second—that he could have something good, that he could deserve you, this never would have happened.
This was his fault.
It was always his fault.
His mother’s betrayal. His death. His resurrection. The people he killed. The people he couldn’t save.
And now you.
Jason clenched his jaw, his breath coming out in ragged, uneven gasps. His heart slammed against his ribs as guilt and fury warred inside him. His hands, hands that had broken men, hands that had torn Gotham’s underworld apart, could do nothing but hold onto the only two people in the world who had ever made him feel like he was worth something.
But what was he worth now?
What good was he if he couldn’t even protect the people he loved?
Jason let out a shaking breath, pressing a kiss to Aria’s head, squeezing his eyes shut as he whispered, “I’m so sorry.”
He never should have stayed.
***
Jason kept his head down as he exited your hospital room, feeling his heart break under the weight of his own resolve—to stay away from both of you.
He spotted his father waiting at the reception, handling the paperwork and payment. As much as Jason felt like the lowest he had ever been and didn’t want anyone to see him like this, he was a little relieved. At least Bruce was here. At least he could leave knowing you were taken care of. He could go home, lock himself in his apartment, and spend the next few weeks trying to forget you. Trying to convince himself that he had been an idiot for ever thinking he had a place in your family.
Because thanks to him, your family had almost been destroyed.
With his head down, he walked up to Bruce, hands stuffed in his pockets. His father gave him a sympathetic pat on the back, but Jason didn’t want to talk. If he opened his mouth now, if he let himself breathe wrong, he knew the lump in his throat would break, and the tears would come pouring out.
"Daddy!"
The sound of Aria’s voice snapped his head up just in time for her to crash into him, her tiny arms wrapping around his neck in a desperate grip. Before he could even think, he was holding her, hugging her tight, feeling her little body shake.
"Daddy, don’t leave! Mommy and I need you! Please don’t go!"
Jason looked at her tear-streaked face and felt something deep inside himself crack. He beat himself up for even considering walking away. How could he? How could he leave while you were still lying in a hospital bed? How could he abandon Aria when she needed him most?
His baby girl.
She needed him. And the truth was—he needed her just as much. He needed both of you.
Right then and there, he made a promise to himself. He would protect you both more than anything. He would love you both more than anything. And he would stop at nothing to make sure you were happy and safe.
Pressing his nose against Aria’s wet cheek, he kissed away her tears, "I’m not going anywhere, princess. Daddy’s not going anywhere."
He stole a glance at Bruce, who gave him a small smile and a nod. With a steadier heart, he carried Aria back to your hospital room.
The second she saw you, Aria gasped, "Mommy!"
You gave Jason a tired smile from your place on the bed, the cut on your lip making it painful to do so, but you still reached out for his hand.
"I thought you would’ve left, wallowing in your guilt. Your masochistic streak and all that," You teased softly.
Jason let out a shaky breath, giving you a glassy-eyed smile before pressing another kiss to Aria’s temple.
"Our girl knows how to keep me grounded."
You grinned at that, exhaustion clear in your features but warmth shining in your eyes.
"She’s her father’s daughter, alright."

(P1) (P2) (P3) (P4) (P5) (P6) (P7) (P8) (P9) (P10) (P11) (P12) (P13)
The soft glow of daylight pressed against the edges of the blinds, but Y/N's room remained cloaked in a sleepy dimness. The air was thick, a mix of stale perfume and forgotten laundry, clothes lay draped over the chair in the corner, an empty glass sat on her nightstand, and a few crumpled receipts peeked out from under her bed; she hadn’t had the energy to clean up. Her phone buzzed against the mattress beside her, the vibrations rattling slightly against the sheets before settling into silence. Then, a few seconds later, another buzz. And another. She already knew who it was before even glancing at the screen.
Bambi : You gon be in tonight????
Bambi : Been dead without u girl
Bambi : ??? You good?
Bambi : At least let me know you’re alive tf
Y/N let out a slow breath, rolling onto her back and staring at the ceiling. The messages glowed on her screen, but she didn’t reach for them. Instead, she just lay there, her limbs heavy, it wasn’t that she didn’t want to answer- she just didn’t know how, she wasn't sure what to say.
Another buzz.
Bambi : If you ignore me again I’m showing up at your house.
Bambi : Ima ask tommy where you live i'm sure he’ll find out
Bambi : Don’t play with me.
A small smile tugged at the corner of her lips, but it faded just as quickly as she let out a small sigh, finally grabbing the phone with sluggish fingers, her thumb hovering over the keyboard.
She typed.
Deleted.
Typed again.
Bunny : I’m fine
Bunny : Just taking a little break omi
She stared at the message for a second before pressing send. It was enough to get Naomi off her back. For now, at least. She let her phone fall back onto the bed beside her, rubbing her tired eyes with the heel of her palm. A knock at the door made her heart jump. Her breath hitched, fingers curling slightly into the sheets as she pushed herself to sit up.
"Y/N?"
JJ's voice filtered through the wood, and her shoulders relaxed just a fraction, relieved it was his voice.
"Uh... can I come in?"
"Yeah."
She cleared her throat, sitting up a little. The door creaked open, and JJ stepped in, his eyes flickering around the messy room before landing on her. He hesitated, shifting awkwardly, and she could tell he wanted to say something about it, but he didn’t. "Uh..." He scratched at the back of his neck, flipping his cap backward before exhaling through his nose.
"Can I borrow some money? Jus' for gas..."
Y/N just nodded, moving robotically toward her nightstand. Dragging the draw open she pulled out a fifty and handed it to him without a word, forcing a small smile. He took it, stuffing it into his pocket, still lingering like he had more to say. He hesitated before he asked, voice softer now.
"You okay?"
"Yeah- yeah, I'm good"
She replied quickly. JJ nodded, rocking on his heels before glancing toward the door, "Me and the Pogues are doing a fire at the Chateau tonight... you wanna come?"
"Um... sure. I'll think about it."
Y/N hesitated, rubbing her fingers over the fabric of her bedsheets. A small grin tugged at his lips, and he gave her a nod.
"Well... catch ya later sis?"
"Catch you later J"
She exhaled, forcing another smile. He lingered for a second longer before slipping out, shutting the door behind him. She listened, waiting patiently before hearing the sound of the front door closing. Y/N let out a small groan, rubbing her face before finally pulling herself together up off the bed, moving toward her dresser to pull out her uniform from the top drawer, pushing it shut with her hip.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time she'd stepped into the country club, she was already met with the sharp-eyed stare of her manager. He stood near the entrance, arms crossed, foot tapping impatiently against the polished floor, "Maybank," he called the second he spotted her.
"You're twenty minutes late."
"I’m sorry, I— overslept."
Y/N exhaled through her nose, fighting the urge to roll her eyes as the scrawny man in front of her, Mark- was it? She wasn’t too sure he’d only joined last week but one thing she was sure of- he was a total dick. Mark scoffed, clearly unimpressed at her petty excuse as he looked her up and down.
"Well, don’t let it happen again. We’re busy today, you’re needed in the restaurant. Get to it."
"Yeah, of course"
She muttered under her breath, already walking past him. He was such a prick, thinking he was above everyone else just because he got to wear a different uniform. But at the end of the day, he was just as much of a pogue as the rest of them. The restaurant was a mess of voices and clinking cutlery, yummy mommies and uninterested fathers wrangling hyperactive kids, older couples sipping on overpriced wine. It was the busiest she’d seen it in a while. Y/N sighed, making her way near the bar where a few other servers were already scrambling around, piling margaritas and mojitos onto trays. She reached under the counter, pulling out her designated apron and securing it around her waist before grabbing her notepad and pen, just another day in paradise. As she tightened the knot on her apron, she felt a light touch on her arm and she turned to find Sofia standing beside her, brows pulled together in concern. The brunette girl greeted, her voice soft but laced with curiosity.
"Hey"
"Hey"
Y/N replied, offering a small smile and Sofia's frown deepened just slightly.
"Are you okay… you’re late today."
Y/N hummed, already knowing where this was going. She was never late. Not to work, not to anything really, she always made sure she was on time- well except for today. She assured her friend, forcing her voice to sound as normal as possible.
"Yeah Sof, I’m fine- I just overslept"
Sofia gave a slow nod, but she wasn’t convinced. Dropping her voice, she leaned in a little closer and she whispered.
"Is it your dad?"
Y/N blinked, momentarily caught off guard by the question. A warmth spread in her chest, the kind that only came from knowing someone truly cared. Sofia was sweet always like that—no one else in her life really looked out for her the way she did. A soft smile tugged at Y/N’s lips as she shook her head. "No," she murmured.
"He’s being… okay."
Sofia studied her for a second before giving a nod. "Alright," she said, clearly not wanting to push. Then, as if sensing the need for a subject change, Y/N asked, "So, what section am I in today?" Sofia winced, dragging out the word,
"Weeeelllll—"
Y/N groaned, "Nooo, Sof."
"I’m sorry, okay? I got the balconies, and because you were late, Bailey took the outside, so—"
"-so I got stuck with center"
Y/N finished, already dreading it. Sofia gave her a look of sympathy, but it didn’t help much. The center section was the worst. It was where all the entitled families sat- the ones with spoiled kids who flung food without a care in the world, and mothers and fathers too glued to their phones or their own conversations to notice. Y/N groaned, slumping against the counter.
"I swear you did this on purpose."
Sofia snorted, nudging the girl with her shoulder, "Yeah, totally. I plotted this entire thing just to ruin your morning."
Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the small smirk that tugged at her lips. She let out one last exaggerated grunt before pushing off the counter, "Fine. But if I get mashed potatoes in my hair, you're cleaning it out for me."
"I guess it's the least I could do..." Sofia laughed.
After that she didn't see the girl once because the lunch rush was in full swing, and Y/N seemed to be drowning in it. The noise of the restaurant buzzed in her ears- cutlery clinking, bratty kids shrieking about not getting dessert, chairs scraping, and the constant hum of voices layering over each other. She barely had a second to breathe between tables, and it didn’t help that she had the worst kind of customers. She was in the middle of jotting down an order when a voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
“Hello? Are you even listening?”
Y/N blinked, looking up at the middle-aged woman with an unimpressed frown. She asked, forcing her best polite voice.
“Sorry, ma’am. What was that?”
The woman scoffed shaking her head, “Unbelievable. I said no onions on my salad- are you writing this down?”
“Of course, no onions.”
Y/N clenched her jaw, scribbling it onto the pad. She could feel the heat rising in her face, but she kept moving. There was no time to dwell- she had to drop off one table’s drinks, check on another’s meal, and now, grab a fresh batch of plates from the kitchen. She pushed through the kitchen doors and made a beeline for the counter, spotting the steaming plates waiting under the heat lamps. She reached out, grabbing one—
“No! Wait that's h—”
Yet Elijah’s warning came too late. The moment her fingers curled around the plate, a searing pain shot through her palm. She let out a sharp, instinctive whine, immediately jerking her hand back and waving it in the air.
“Shit!”
Elijah’s eyes widened, “Fuck, Y/N, I forgot that one just came out.”
“It’s fine. It’s okay. I should’ve checked.”
She exhaled through her teeth, shaking out her fingers and blowing on her palm. Elijah still looked guilty, but she didn't have time to listen to his apologies, so she quickly grabbed a rag to pick up the plates properly, her hand still stinging as she placed them down onto a tray and balanced it on her hand, pushing back through the doors. However, the second she stepped out, her manager was waiting, arms crossed.
“Maybank, pick up the pace. You’re falling behind.”
Y/N bit the inside of her cheek so hard she almost tasted blood. She wanted to snap, to tell him that maybe if they weren’t understaffed and she wasn’t stuck serving every entitled asshole in this place, she wouldn’t be behind. But she swallowed it down, nodding stiffly instead. She walked past him, her burned hand still throbbing, head pounding, and for the first time all day, she wasn’t sure if she’d make it through her shift without completely losing it.
After leaving the, somewhat happy, family with their meals, she glanced around at her tables- which all seemed relatively contect. So with that sacred moment of peace she slipped behind the bar, reaching for a glass to pour herself some water, when a voice stopped her. “Maybank.” She turned to see Camilla, the head of house, leaning against the counter with her arms crossed. Her expression was neutral, but there was a knowing glint in her eye.
“Just sat two guys in your section. They look like they tip well...”
Camilla said with a slight smirk. Y/N exhaled, setting the empty glass down. Guess I’ll get my water later she thought to herself as she nodded, smoothing her apron as she made her way toward the new table. As she approached, she took them in- two men, mid-forties, dressed in tailored suits with loosened ties. They had that rich look about them, one of them had slicked-back hair, his Rolex glinting in the sunlight streaming through the windows. The other had a sharp jawline and expensive prada sunglasses perched atop his head. Y/N pulled out her pad, forcing a polite smile.
“Hi, I’m Y/N. I’ll be your server today—”
She glanced up, and the moment her eyes landed on the man with the sunglasses, her stomach dropped. His smirk was slow, spreading across his face like he was enjoying a private joke. His gaze dragged over her, lingering just a little too long. Y/N felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. “Well, well,” he murmured under his breath.
“Didn’t expect to see you here.”
She pretended not to hear, gripping her pen a little tighter as she asked, keeping her voice even.
“Can I start you off with something to drink?”
The man with the sunglasses let out a soft chuckle, leaning back in his chair. “Whiskey on the rocks” he said lazily. His friend ordered a beer, and Y/N quickly scribbled it down, ready to get away from the table. But just as she turned, the guy hummed.
“You must really like serving people, huh?”
Her stomach twisted. She knew exactly what he was implying. She didn’t let herself pause, didn’t let him see her react. Instead, she simply nodded, keeping her face blank as her jaw ticked.
“That’s my job, sir”
She said albeit sarcastically before walking away. Yet even as she put distance between them, she could still feel his eyes on her and suddenly, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she needed a shower. Y/N quickly typed the orders into the system, her fingers moving almost mechanically, but her mind was still focused on the two men at table 5. The words from the guy in sunglasses were still echoing in her mind, and it was hard to shake the feeling of discomfort creeping up her spine. As she was trying to center herself, she saw Sofia passing by with an empty tray in hand, Y/N practically reached out to grab her arm, making Sofia stop in her tracks.
“Hey, uh... can I ask you a favor?”
Y/N’s voice was low, almost pleading, and Sofia immediately tilted her head, looking at her with concern. “What’s up?” Sofia asked, her eyes scanning Y/N’s face, sensing the tension. She hesitated for a second, her eyes darting over to table 5, where the two men were now deep in conversation.
“I know I don’t usually ask, but- could you just take over table 5 for me?”
She asked, her words a little rushed trying to keep her voice as steady as she could, trying to keep the nervousness from showing. Sofia’s eyes shifted over to the table, quickly taking in the two guys who were talking and she asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Sure, what’s wrong?”
“Oh, uh... one of them was just being a creep, and I don’t want to serve them anymore. They’re just freaking me out, you know?” She tried to make it sound casual, but the slight tremor in her voice betrayed her. Sofia nodded without missing a beat, her face hardening with understanding.
“Yeah, don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”
Y/N let out a small sigh of relief as Sofia gave her a reassuring smile. She slipped behind the bar, and reached for a glass of water, the coolness of it a welcome distraction from the heat of the day. But as her fingers brushed the glass, her mind wandered- unsurprisingly, to the two men she just served. She’d kept her two lives separate for so long and for months, she had succeeded. But now… now she could feel them bleeding into each other. It should’ve been obvious. She should’ve known that eventually, something would snap. But Y/N had buried her head in the sand, living like this dual existence was sustainable and now it was all crashing together. Her hand tightened around the glass, maybe she should’ve expected it sooner, maybe this was just karma catching up with her. But what did she do now? With a sharp exhale, Y/N jerked her head away from the counter, pulling herself back to reality. The sound of the kitchen buzzed back to life, and she set her glass of water down with a quiet sigh, abandoning the brief moment of peace. The kitchen doors swung open as she grabbed a tray of dishes,the smell of garlic and tomatoes hit her first- rich, hearty, the kind of smell that reminded her of family dinners at Sofia's house. But then, the overpowering scent of fish and anchovies mingled with it, and Y/N felt her stomach lurch in response.
Her body instinctively recoiled, but she continued to walk with the tray, forcing herself to ignore the growing nausea that started to pool in her chest. As she placed the plates down in front of her table, the scents lingered too long, curling around her senses and twisting like a knot in her gut. She barely heard the customers thank her as she turned quickly on her heel. Her stomach churned, the tight feeling in her chest growing. It wasn’t like this normally, she had always been able to deal with the smells, even if they weren’t her favorite, but today felt different.
Without another thought, she bolted for the back, pushing past the kitchen staff with a quick “excuse me” and “sorry” she didn’t really register. The bathroom was just a few steps away, and she barely made it to the toilet before her body reacted to the smells. Her knees buckled as she knelt, gripping the sides of the porcelain toilet, dry heaving into the bowl. Nothing came up at first, just the acidic taste of bile burning the back of her throat. It wasn’t long before the contents of her stomach caught up with her, and she threw up, the sensation heavy in her chest. She breathed through it, barely able to steady herself as her body trembled. She stayed there for a few minutes, resting her forehead against the cold edge of the toilet, willing the waves of nausea to pass.
Finally, she stood, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand and rinsing her face under the cool tap. Her reflection in the mirror didn’t look like her- not entirely. Her hair was disheveled, eyes a little more tired than usual. But she took a deep breath, splashing some more water on her face as she took a deep breath, making her way back into the kitchen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The soft buzz of the overhead lights hummed in the quiet gas station shop, the air thick with the scent of cheap coffee. Y/N walked down the narrow aisle, her eyes scanning the shelves in a daze, she needed to pick up some bread, eggs, and milk—simple things. Her hand brushed against the shelf, the cold bottles of milk sending a faint chill up her arm. She placed the bottle into her basket and moved through the next aisle but then, her gaze caught something- something tucked away on the edge of the shelf in a blue and white box. The name on it stared up at her and she couldn’t ignore it. She stood still for a moment, her fingers tightening around the handle of the basket, as if the weight of the box was too much for her to attempt to lift. She picked it up slowly, feeling the smooth cardboard beneath her fingers. Her thumb ran over the price tag, and she let out a small, exasperated huff as she read it: $13. Jesus, that was steep for something so small.
She stared at it for another moment, almost as if waiting for the price to drop but it didn’t and the shop remained empty, just the quiet hum of the fluorescent lights and the soft shuffle of her shoes against the linoleum floor. With a quick glance around the shop, ensuring no one was there to see, she shoved the box into her basket.
She needed it.
Even if it didn’t make sense, even if it was a stupid purchase, she needed to feel some semblance of control. The cashier stood behind the counter, chewing gum slowly, her eyes uninterested as she scanned each item with a mechanical precision. The click of the scanner was the only sound in the otherwise silent shop. Y/N could feel her gaze on her, a heavy, almost judgmental stare as the woman worked through the items. The cashier's eyes flicked up as she reached the box. She scanned it, then raised her eyebrows slightly, her gaze flicking from the box to Y/N, as if silently questioning her. She didn’t say anything though, just let the moment hang in the air, her gum popping softly between her teeth. Y/N bit the inside of her cheek, a nervous habit she never seemed to break, and cleared her throat.
“Can I get a bag?”
Her voice came out quieter than she expected, the cashier nodded, not bothering to make a show of it, and began placing the items in the bag leisurely. The sound of the plastic crinkling felt like an eternity to Y/N, each second stretching into the next. It was torturous- like the woman was dragging it out on purpose. Finally, the woman looked up at her and said flatly,
“$20.50.”
Y/N’s hand immediately went to her pocket, fingers fumbling slightly as she pulled out the cash. She placed it on the counter without a word, almost too quickly, and the cashier took the money, handed her back the change, and Y/N took it with a muttered "thanks," her voice barely audible. She grabbed the bag, turning quickly to head for the exit, relief bubbling up at the thought of being out of there.
But as her hand reached the door, she paused.
Her gaze flicked to the small W/C sign on the wall, the letters simple and stark, and for some reason, her feet seemed to move of their own accord. Without thinking, Y/N walked towards the restroom doors and slipped through them.
She now found herself sat on the toilet, her elbow resting on her knees, her head leaning into the palm of her hand. Her other hand absently fiddled with the plastic turning it over, looking at it every few seconds waiting for some sort of sign, some hint of change. But nothing. Nothing had changed. It was just plastic- empty, meaningless plastic. She rubbed her eyes, feeling the weight of exhaustion in her body. It had been a long day, and her mind was tired, her thoughts heavy and slow. She closed her eyes for just a moment, just to breathe, to try and center herself, to stop feeling so damn overwhelmed. She let out a soft sigh, as if to release all the tension she had been carrying. When she opened her eyes again, the restroom’s faint fluorescent light made everything look almost surreal. She blinked a few times, her eyes adjusting.
But when her gaze dropped, something froze in her chest.
She was gripping the plastic now, harder than before. Her knuckles were pale from the pressure, but it didn’t matter. The small screen was glaring up at her and in that harsh, glaring light, the one thing she hadn’t wanted to see was right there. Her throat was tightening, and for a moment, it felt like the room was closing in on her. She stared at it, her mind running in circles, her breath shallow.
She hadn’t expected this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/N slammed the door behind her with more force than she intended- its harsh thud reverberating through the quiet space. She rushed into her room, her heart pounding in her chest, she didn’t even notice the noise; her mind was elsewhere, racing. Panicked. The weight of the little plastic screen clung to her like a heavy, suffocating blanket. It wasn’t real, it couldn’t be real. Her hands were a little shaky as she dropped to her knees beside her bed, reaching under it with frantic urgency. She pulled out the tattered brown shoe box that she had kept hidden, the one filled with money she’d saved. Her fingers fumbled with the box’s worn edges before opening it and pulling out the small pile of cash. She began counting quickly,
Two hundred and fifty dollars.
Her stomach twisted at the sight of it. Two hundred and fifty dollars. That was it? Barely enough to make it through the month—food, bills, gas. She knew she hadn’t been at the club for almost three weeks but she never really noticed how much of a difference it made- without it her payout at the country club, well it was practically nothing. She cursed under her breath, shoving the cash back into the box. How was she supposed to make it work? This wasn’t enough.
It wasn’t even close.
A sharp knock to her bedroom door pulled her out of the downward spiral she found herself tumbling through. “What?” she snapped irritably, blinking away the haze of frustration. She shoved the box back under the bed as the door opened. JJ walked in, a little lighter than usual. He had a joint behind his ear and a grin plastered across his face.
“You ready to get lit sis?”
Y/N paused, still kneeling on the floor, her hands clenched into fists. “What?” she asked, her tone sharp and confused. JJ spoke out, walking deeper into her room like it was his own,
“C’mon, you ready to go to the fire?”
Her mind flicked back to that morning when he had asked her if she wanted to go to the Chateau with him and the Pogues to spend the night, maybe smoke some weed, have a few beers. It felt like a lifetime ago now that they’d discussed it, and she couldn’t shake the weight in her chest. She pushed some hair out of her face, shaking her head slowly as she pushed herself off the floor.
“Look JJ... I don’t know if I can do that tonight.”
JJ, oblivious to the undercurrent of panic in her voice, walked past her and pulled open the doors of her closet already rifling through her closet causing her brows to pull down into a frown. He spoke nonchalantly, grabbing a pair of shorts and a tank top looking at them before shrugging and tossing them onto the bed close to where she stood.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah- you just need to loosen up Y/N”
“I really don’t want to JJ”
She said, her voice tight as she sat on the edge of the bed, her leg bouncing up and down nervously, but her brother had already made his way towards where she was , pulling at her shoulders shaking her lightly, trying to convince her.
“Just loosen up, Y/N. You’ll come to the chate-”
“-I’ve got bigger fucking problems than spending a shitty night getting high by some fire!”
She burst out, her chest tightening with the outburst. Something inside her snapped, and she stood up abruptly, pushing his hands off her. JJ stepped back, surprised by the force of her movement. The words hung heavy in the room and she immediately regretted saying them, feeling the lump in her throat, the guilt crawling up her neck. JJ stared at her, his expression frozen for a moment. He hadn’t expected that- neither did she. He stood still for a beat, and then, shaking his head, he mumbled,
“Should’ve guessed you didn’t want to spend time with your brother and his shitty friends, right?”
Y/N’s face softened for a moment, but the words stung, and she felt that familiar ache in her chest. She started, her voice breaking just slightly,
“JJ—”
He didn’t wait though, instead he turned on his heel, walking toward the door, his lips pursed in frustration. Before she could say anything else, he slammed the door behind him. Y/N stood there, alone, heart pounding in her ears. She tried to sit there on the edge of the bed for a few more minutes after he heard the front door slam shut to try and calm herself, but her mind was running too fast. The words she’d snapped at JJ kept echoing in her head, the way he’d walked out, the hurt in his voice when he made that comment about not wanting to spend time with him. She knew it wasn’t true. She did want to spend time with him more than anything, but everything was just... overwhelming.
Her gaze flickered over to the duffle bag sticking out from the back of her closet. The zipper was slightly open, revealing the pink sparkle of the clothes inside. She hadn’t planned to go back there tonight, but the weight of the situation was too heavy- she needed the money now. She couldn’t just let it all sit on her shoulders while she waited for something to change. Y/N sighed, dragging herself off the bed with more effort than she cared to admit.
She had no choice but to make it work.
It always worked, somehow.
The duffle bag felt heavier than it should as she pulled it out from the closet, her fingers brushing the rough fabric. She had almost forgotten what it felt like to hold it in her hands, but now, with everything else piling on top of her, she couldn’t ignore the fact that it might be her only option. She unzipped the bag slowly, pulling out the set she hadn’t touched in weeks. She stared at the two piece, at their tight fit, the heels in the bag she knew would be a bitch to walk in but would make the money flow. There was a strange sense of finality in the way she laid everything out on her bed.
Y/N quickly pulled her polo top over her head, hand reaching to her back to unclasp the bra she was wearing; trying not to think too much about the decision she was making. She pulled on the panties, feeling the familiar fabric settle against her skin, dragging on the pair of shorts and t-shirt JJ had thrown out her closet over the set. As she grabbed the duffle bag again, her stomach twisted in knots, but she pushed the feeling down. She shoved everything into the bag, and as she walked out of her room, heading for the door, her hand lingered on the handle of the front door for a second longer than it should have.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The car hummed under her, tires rolling over the familiar streets, but her mind was a million miles away. She wasn’t driving fast; in fact, she was barely even looking at the road, her gaze flickering from the rearview mirror to the side window. The night stretched on like a thick fog in front of her, and all she could do was try to sort through the thoughts fighting for space in her head. She should have been heading straight to the club, her destination set, the routine of it all keeping her grounded. But she couldn’t shake the nagging pull, the thought she’d been running from for so long.
The thought of what he had said to her.
She came to a slow stop at the red light, her eyes catching the turn-off for Figure 8. She bit her lip, her mind racing. She could do it- this one night would pay for it, for all the expenses. She wouldn't need to slave away for hours at the club every night for the next two weeks. But the longer she thought about it, she didn't think she could do it, the thought being clouded in guilt and in hesitation. The light flickered green, and Y/N’s foot hovered for a second.
Her car made a slow right turn, the headlights illuminating the driveway of the house she’d never imagined stepping foot in. The driveway was empty except for the black Range Rover, parked against the stillness of the night. The lights were off inside, except for the soft glow coming from a window upstairs. Y/N’s heart was thumping, the tension coiling in her chest.
She shouldn’t be here.
She felt herself fidgeting with the steering wheel, her nails already bitten down to the skin, she was out of the car before she even had the chance to fully think the idea through. The driveway stretched in front of her, empty and lonely and her footsteps echoed in the quiet as she walked up to the door, her thoughts scattered and panicked. She raised her hand, and knocked.
Once.
Twice.
The sound was sharp against the night, the quiet too loud in her ears. She crossed her arms, staring at the door, waiting, her breath shallow as the seconds stretched on. She wasn’t sure what she was doing, but she couldn’t stop herself now. The door creaked open, just a little, enough to see him, his silhouette framed in the darkness
Rafe stood in the doorway, a surprised expression crossing his face as his eyes slowly raked over her. His lips lifted into a smirk as his gaze lingered, reading her.
“Well, well, well,” he drawled, a hint of amusement in his tone.
“Didn’t think I’d be seeing you anytime soon.”
His gaze flickered over her, narrowing slightly, processing the change. The girl who had slapped him just weeks ago, who had shot down his offer without a second thought, was standing here now, looking... different.
Vulnerable, maybe?
Her eyes never left his, the tension between them palpable in the night air. She stood there for a second, her lips pressed tight, and then, finally, she spoke.
“Does your offer still stand?”
She asked, her voice steady but her posture tense, her arms crossing over her chest, as if bracing herself for whatever would come next. Rafe raised an eyebrow, clearly taken aback.
“What?”
“You said you wanted me to dance for you,” she clarified, her eyes now unwavering, “privately.”
Rafe blinked, his confusion momentarily replacing the usual smugness in his expression. He stared at her, trying to piece this together. The last time they’d spoken, she turned down the idea without a moment of hesitation and prior to that she’d slapped him across the face for suggesting something like this, practically hurling insults at him. And now, here she was, standing in front of him, asking for the very thing she had so firmly rejected. He scratched his bicep slightly as he moved to cross his arms, leaning slightly against the doorframe, his eyes flicking over her again, narrowing as he tried to make sense of her sudden shift in demeanor.
“Why now?”
He asked, the question slipping out before he could stop it. Y/N's jaw tightened- was he really expecting her to explain herself? To give him a reason? She just needed this—needed him to say yes, because she didn’t have time to waste. “That’s not important,” she replied, her voice a little firmer, a little colder now.
“Does the offer still stand or not?”
Rafe’s eyes stayed locked on her, the gears turning in his head as he considered her. He couldn’t deny the pull he felt toward her. The attraction had always been there, but it had grown stronger in the past few months. Seeing her again, after all this time apart, made something inside him ignite.
He wanted her- and it wasn’t just about the power and control anymore.
There was something more now.
He ran a hand across his jaw, his gaze flicking over her, up and down, assessing her in a way he hadn’t before. The silence stretched, his fingers still brushing over his stubbled jaw as he thought it through. But the thought of having her all to himself, the idea of pushing this thing between them to the next level, the idea of making her his- really his- he couldn’t shake it. Finally, he dropped his hand and gave her a look that told her what she needed to know before he even said it.
“It still stands.”
Y/N’s lips parted, her eyes flickering in relief. She nodded once, a small, sharp motion, “So, can I come in?”
Rafe stepped back, the door creaking as he swung it wider to allow her through. His hand lingered on the doorframe, just for a moment, before he released it. Y/N hesitated. She was standing there, staring at the threshold, as if her feet had rooted to the floor. She had no idea what she was walking into- no idea what would happen when she crossed that line but she needed to.
She had to.
Taking a deep breath, she stepped inside, the door shutting behind them with a soft click.

Pt. 1
You couldn't help but anxiously fiddle with the hem of your dress as you sat beside Simon, one of his hands resting on your thigh, while the other gripped the steering wheel. "It's going to be fine, sweetheart. They're going to love you." Unsure, you glanced up at him, a frown on your pretty face. "Are you sure? Maybe they'll just see me as an inconvenience that will keep you from them in the future. Or maybe they'll-" Simon interrupted you as he tightly squeezed the fat of your thigh, a possessive growl leaving his throat. "They'd never. Trust me." With a sigh, you nodded. And he was right.
From the moment you two walked into the same dingy pub where you first met, the others treated you as if they'd known you for years, and you were a part of the friend group. The entire evening, you laughed and drank, Simon's hand constantly on you. At least until he left to go take a piss and smoke a cigarette.
The moment you were alone with the three men, the Scottish one leaned across the table, a gigantic grin on his face. "So? How did ya two meet?" The older one quickly pulled the Scottish one back, a scowl on his face, as he regarded his team member, but there was a certain hint of curiosity sparkling in his eyes.
You chuckled, thinking back to the day.
Excitement cursed through you as you stepped out of the cab, your phone in your hand as you watched your best friend type. But the moment she sent her message, the excitement dissipated. "I'm so sorry, but I can't make it! I'll make it up to you though!"
You rolled your eyes, glancing at the sign of the pub you were standing in front of. She couldn't have let you know before you made your way there, could she? Inside you, two demons started to fight. One yelling at you to go back home and gulp down an entire ice cream pint. The other one calmly stating that you were already here and should at least get a little bit wasted. Before you knew it, the calm demon had won and you walked into the pub, quickly finding a place at the bar. But you noticed him immediately. Sitting in a dark corner, his face almost completely hidden. And very obviously staring at you. It didn't matter when during the evening you turned around, his eyes were always on you. At first, it creeped you out, but before long, you felt warmth spread through you. You almost felt protected, his obvious attention keeping all the usual creepers at bay. So, you decided you at least wanted his number.
But when you paid for your tab, hoping to be able to join him at his table, you watched as he stood up and walked outside. As quickly as you could, without tripping over the air, you rushed after him, finding him outside, leaning against a wall. After taking a deep breath, you started to walk over to him, but he immediately pushed off the wall and started to walk away. Were you really this repulsing?
Before doubts could start to fill you, you called out to him. "Uhm, I'm sorry, Sir?" He stopped and slowly turned around to face you. With a small and hopeful smile, you crossed the distance. The closer you got to him, the more you could really see him. While the lower half of his face was hidden behind a black surgical mask, you could see the top of his cheeks. And they were red, practically glowing with heat. Adorable.
"I'm sorry, I hope this isn't too direct, but I wanted to ask if I could have your number? You're really handsome and seem like a nice man. Of course, it's okay if not, I don't want to pressure you or anything. I-" You stopped, your eyes wide as you watched his entire body trembling slightly. Like a robot, he slowly stretched out his hand to you. Your eyes focused on it and you watched for a few beats as the trembling only got worse. Then, you quickly pulled out your phone and handed it to him.
Once again moving like a robot, the man slowly plugged in his number, his hands trembling bad enough, that you thought he would drop your phone at some point. When he handed your phone back, you looked down and saw that he had also put in his name. But it was a mix of upper and lower cases, making you chuckle. You grinned up at him and pocketed your phone. “Thank you…well…have a good night.”
You turned around and walked a couple of steps before his shaking hand on your elbow stopped you. “U-Uh…uhm…eat? Uh now?” His voice was shaking even more than his hands and he kept stumbling over his words, but when he got the question out, you couldn’t help but nod with a smile.
“And yeah, that’s it.” The Scottish and the pretty one immediately burst into laughter, slapping their thighs and each other, while the older one just smirked, slowly shaking his head. You looked at them, confused. “What…?”
“What did I miss?” Simon slid into his chair beside you, his arms loosely wrapped around your shoulders. His friends immediately started to tease him, recounting points from what you had just told them. Immediately, the blush was back on his face, and you couldn’t help but chuckle along. At least until his hand came to rest on your thigh, and squeezed tightly. Oh, you were in for a night.
A/N: Here we go! Part two and the real story all wrapped up in one! Hope you like it! Edit: Re-upload because I forgot to add tags... :)

Hey! Saw your requests are open. If you havent been overwhelmed eith asks I have one for Yandere Shadow if you're interested, if not you're fine!!
What about a Yandere Shadow and Sonic with an S/O who's extremely affectionate and overprotective? BUT, as a twist, They're this way with everyone they care about. They just have a lot of love to give❤️
(Bonus headcanon that Eggman targets them first in fights because his robots literally cant get anywhere near anyone else due to how protective they can be of others. They focus on others so much they forget they might also be targetted)
A/n: idk how long this was in my inbox for
Yandere Shadow/Sonic x Overprotective, Affectionate Reader

Shadow:
Shadow isn't used to the kind of affection you give, not from anyone. He wasnt quite used to affection to mych at all. Not after Maria at least.
You're the type to wrap your arms around people in your life without a second thought, ruffle their hair, or reassure them with kind words whenever they’re feeling down.
At first, he thought this affection was only for him. The way you’d stand beside him in fights, ready to shield him from harm despite your lack of superhuman abilities, left him both confused and, strangely, touched.
But then, Shadow began to notice a pattern.
You weren't just protective of him. You were protective of everyone you cared about. Whether it was Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, or even strangers in trouble, you'd throw yourself into the way to ensure no one got hurt.
Your willingness to put others first was respectable, but it also infuriated Shadow.
Didn’t you realize how reckless it was? Did you think anyone else deserved your warmth and care the way he did?
Shadow tried to reason with himself. He knew your affection was genuine and that your overprotective tendencies came from a place of love.
Still, that jealousy in his chest clawed at him every time he watched you worry and fuss over someone else.
His thoughts turned darker as he began to wonder if maybe he needed to teach you to focus that energy solely on him...
It wasn’t unusual for Eggman to target the people Shadow cared about, but this time, Eggman targeted you first.
Shadow’s blood boiled when he realized why. Your protective nature made you an obstacle to Eggman’s plans, your sheer determination to shield others from harm meant that his robots couldn’t get anywhere near his intended targets. And worse, your focus on others left you vulnerable.
Shadow was livid. Not at you, but at the world. How dare anyone put you in danger?
You were so busy worrying about others that you forgot to worry about yourself. He decided right then and there that he'd do whatever it took to keep you safe, even if that meant keeping you away from everyone else.
In the days that followed, Shadow became even more possessive. He started hovering closer during battles, stepping in before you had the chance to protect someone else. If you tried to shield Sonic or Tails, Shadow would pull you back with a firm grip, glaring at whoever dared to draw your attention.
"You can't keep doing this," he’d say in a stern voice. "You're going to get yourself hurt. Let me handle it."
At home, Shadow became even clingier. He didn't like how much energy you gave to others, so he made it his mission to monopolize your time.
Every moment spent with him was another moment you couldn’t be out there, being with someone else.
Still, he couldn't completely suppress his jealousy. The way you’d light up when hugging someone else made his fists clench.
Your constant reassurances that you had enough love to go around only made him more determined to make you see that he deserved all of it.
"Why do you waste your time on people who can’t protect themselves? They donct deserve what you give them. I'm the one who'll keep you safe, not them"
Sonic:
Sonic's usually not the biggest fan on being the receiving end of affection, but when it comes to you, he loves it. In fact, he thrives on it.
You're always ready with a hug, a playful nudge, or words of encouragement that make his heart race faster than his feet.
At first, he thought you were just that way with him, and he basked in the attention.
But Sonic quickly realized that you didn’t just have love for him. You had love for everyone.
You'd throw yourself in front of Tails to block an incoming attack, fuss over Amy if she got a scratch, or rush to Knuckles aid whenever he bit off more than he could chew.
Your boundless compassion for others left Sonic respecting you even more, but it also left him feeling insecure.
As confident as Sonic was in his abilities, he couldn’t shake the fear that someone else might steal your affection.
He wanted to be the one you turned to, the one you prioritized above all else. But your overprotective tendencies meant that you focused on everyone equally, leaving Sonic craving more of your attention.
Then came the day Eggman decided to target you.
It wasn’t hard to see why. You were a force of nature in your own way, your determination to protect others made you a threat to Eggman’s plans. Sonic’s heart dropped when he realized that Eggman saw you as a liability.
The first time one of Eggman’s robots aimed directly for you, Sonic barely managed to stop the attack in time.
"Hey, what were you thinking?!" he scolded, his voice tinged with panic. "You can't keep throwing yourself in the line of fire like that!"
You brushed off his concerns, he did that stuff all the time, why was it any different?
Sonic wanted to argue, but he couldn't bring himself to. Still, he made a silent vow to protect you, even if it meant protecting you from yourself.
Sonic's jealousy is more subtle than Shadow’s, have to keep up the 'perfect hero' act. He'd crack jokes whenever you doted on someone else, masking his unease with humor. But if someone started to take over your time, Sonic wouldn’t hesitate to intervene, dragging you away with some flimsy excuse.
Despite his possessiveness, Sonic would never stop loving your affectionate nature. It's part of what makes you, you. But he’d do everything in his power to ensure that your love didn’t come at the cost of your safety, even if it meant keeping you closer than you’d like.

Marvel Breaking the Fourth Wall
Only, he’s not. He’s talking to the Divine Twitch Chat, but just to be a little shit, he’ll talk to them on some Dora type of nonsense. They eat it up cause they don’t know what Dora is. They’re just happy they get to interact with the stream.
A great example of this was when Billy got kidnapped by Sivana for the 50 million time. He got out of his binds, transformed into Marvel, busted through the doors and knocked out some guards. He was then met with a decision. He could either go left or right. Right lead somewhere unknown, and left lead to an exit. Time to consult the chat!
Marvel: *talking in Dora/Amanda the Adventure voice* “Hmm… What do you think?” *Turns to a random direction as if he’s talking to someone* “Should we go left or right?”
Solomon: “I believe it would be wise to go left, Billy-”
Heracles and Achilles: “RIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!”
Atlas: “No, stupidheads. That’s probably gonna lead him to robots.”
Mercury: “That’s exactly why we should go.”
Zeus: “I agree with Hermes.” *just wants to spite Atlas*
Marvel: “The votes are in! It looks like we’re going… right!” *starts walking right*
He in fact did run into a bunch of robots. But hey, at least he found Sivana. Back to jail he goes.
Also, someone recovered this footage from a security camera and they saw Marvel ask the question and just stand still in complete silence for a solid minute before saying the thing about the votes. They posted this online and he got called a schizo like twenty times over. Marvel was later brought in so Black Canary could have a little session with him.
Marvel: “Ms. Canary, I’m not crazy I swear.”
Black Canary: “Cap, I’m not saying that, but well, this footage suggests that you might have some… problems.”
Marvel: “But I don’t. Pinky promise. I was just talking to the gods in my head. That’s it.”
Black Canary: “Mhm. Mhm. I see. I see.” *scribbles down on notepad*
Marvel: *concerned* “What’re you writing down?”
Then, there was another incident where some guy tried robbing an old, homeless man that Billy knew. Marvel took him up to a building and let him dangle by his leg off the side of it. What could he say, the old man gave him a buck anytime he could. Billy’s loyal like that.
Marvel: *does the Dora/Amanda voice again* “Hmm… It seems we’re stuck with a decision.”
Heracles: “He’s doing the voice! He’s doing the voice!”
Marvel: “What do you think we should do?” *turns to no one again* “Should we drop him?”
Robber: “WHAT?” *stops flailing around*
Marvel: “Or should we turn him into the police?”
Zeus: “DROP HIM.”
Solomon: “Do NOT do that, Billy.”
Atlas: “I agree, drop him.”
Achilles: “Drop.”
Mercury: “Ooh! Ooh! Drop him, then catch him just when he’s about to hit the ground.”
Heracles: “I second that.”
Marvel: “Just kidding! This isn’t up for vote. Alley-oop!” *slings robber over his shoulder and flies to a police station*
Gods: “BOOOOOOOOOO”
The police report for this got leaked and now the residents of Fawcett got to know their lovable teddy bear hero dangled a man off the side of a building. Also, this is a recent thing by the way. Billy only started doing this about a couple weeks ago so all of the Fawcett citizens are so concerned because he never used to do this before. They’re all like, oh my God, is Cap going crazy? Point is, they’re worried.
One of their ways of showing they care that’s still fresh on Billy’s mind is when he was taking a dealer to the police station and the man offered him some of his stash because and he quotes:
Dealer: “Hey, man, you saved my kid brother from getting kidnapped. You’re good in my book. You gotta help people out especially if they help you.”
This stunned Billy a little if he was honest. He didn’t know if he should’ve been touched or offended. He was offered drugs, but I was as a token of appreciation. He’ll go with a little bit of both instead.

WHEN GOSSIP MEETS LOVE ⌇ 함께

pairing ᝰ sunghoon x fem!reader — featuring.. Jake (as jaeyun) & Riki | word count: 6.6k+
⌇ … warnings & genre ↺ office romance, boss! sunghoon, fluff, tiny angst, make-outs, getting drunk, isolation, passing out, reader is blunt, sunghoon is arrogant at times.
synopsis — after being saved by Sunghoon on your first week of the job, you have had a blatant crush on him to the point the whole office knows. Later he learned of your interest, usually he wouldn’t care but why wont you make a move?
lee's ₊˚⊹ ᰔ comment ┊so this turned out way longer than expected… PLEASE READ THE BONUS ITS SO CUTE— Also I love me a semi arrogant man who gets put in his place 👅
Today was supposed to be just another day at the office. The same mind-numbing tasks, the same stale air, the same routine. The only thing that ever really changed around here was the gossip, and honestly, you kind of lived for it.
As you strolled down the hallway with a stack of papers in hand, you noticed your coworkers gathered in a huddle, whispering excitedly. Curiosity piqued, and you set the papers down on a nearby desk and wandered over.
“What’s going on?” you asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
The group turned to you, immediately shushing you before gesturing toward the glass-walled conference room. “Look,” one of them whispered, pointing.
You followed their gaze to the meeting in progress—specifically, to the group of men seated at the table. Raising a brow, you asked, “So… we’re just staring at men now?”
One of the girls grinned, barely able to contain her excitement. “Not just men. They just hired Mr. Kim Sunoo. Isn’t he dreamy? He’s totally my type.”
Another chimed in, dramatically clutching her chest. “What I wouldn’t give to get a piece of Mr. Lee. Ugh, it’s unfair how perfect he is.”
You stood there, unimpressed, letting your eyes wander to the man sitting at the end of the table.
“What about you, Y/N?” one of them asked, nudging you with her elbow. “Anyone in there catch your eye?”
Before you could answer, a sharp cough sounded behind you, making the entire group freeze.
“Do you ladies have no shame?” Jaeyun drawled, raising an eyebrow as he sipped his coffee.
“Jesus, Mr. Sim, would it kill you to mind your own business?” one of the girls snapped, rolling her eyes.
Jaeyun chuckled. “And miss out on this? Never. Besides, everyone knows who Y/N’s been crushing on.”
You immediately stiffened, while the other two girls exchanged looks. Their eyes darted to where you were staring—at him.
“Mr. Park?”
“No way! He’s such an asshole.”
“You could do so much better.”
Their words blurred into background noise as you kept your gaze locked on Park Sunghoon, your so-called “crush.” But they didn’t get it. They couldn’t possibly understand. To them, he was cold and aloof—practically a robot. But to you? He was… interesting.
You didn’t always feel that way. When you started at the company a year ago, you weren’t interested in men—or dating at all. You were laser-focused on your career, and determined to climb the corporate ladder. Then you met him.
It all started your first week on the job. The office wasn’t the soul-crushing nightmare you’d seen in movies. Your little corner office was cozy, and your workload was manageable. Things were going smoothly—until they weren’t.
Some of the senior employees, jealous of your early success, had sabotaged your presentation for an important meeting. As you stood in front of the board fumbling through the slides, your confidence crumbled. Your hands shook, your throat felt dry, and your face burned with humiliation. Then, out of nowhere, he walked in.
Park Sunghoon strode up to your computer with an air of calm authority, plugging in a USB without a word. The correct presentation appeared on the screen, and you blinked in disbelief.
The head of the board narrowed his eyes. “Mr. Park, care to explain your tardiness?”
“I apologize,” Sunghoon said smoothly. “But I caught some employees tampering with Ms. Y/N’s presentation. I thought it necessary to intervene.”
The board members exchanged glances before nodding, motioning for you to continue. Your real presentation went off without a hitch, earning praise from the directors. But all you could think about was the man who had saved you from disaster.
After the meeting, you waited outside the conference room, nervously clutching your notes. As soon as Sunghoon stepped out, you followed him, finally mustering the courage to tap him on the shoulder.
“Excuse me, Mr. Park?”
He turned, his expression blank but expectant. “Yes?”
“I just… wanted to thank you for what you did back there,” you stammered, your voice barely above a whisper.
His reply was cold and clipped. “I didn’t do it for you. I did it because I don’t tolerate workplace sabotage. Don’t expect me to save you again.”
Then he walked away, leaving you speechless.
A normal person might’ve been offended. Maybe even angry. But you? You were utterly smitten. How many men these days are that serious and passionate about their work? And let’s be honest—how many of them looked like that?
From that moment on, Park Sunghoon was your ideal man: hardworking, principled, and impossibly handsome. Sure, the whole office thought you were crazy for crushing on him, but they didn’t see what you see.
And as you stood there, watching him from across the room, you couldn’t help but wonder what he else he had underneath that surface.
A week after that little encounter with your coworkers, fate seemed to step in when you were assigned to lead a project—with none other than Mr. Park as your supervisor. Coincidence? You didn’t think so.
Now, as you sat in his office, he was going on about the plans and blueprints for the project. But you? You weren’t paying much attention. Your chin rested on your hands as you stared at him, absolutely transfixed.
“The peak must be at—Ms. Y/N, are you even listening?”
You blinked, snapping out of your trance. “Of course I am,” you replied with a bright, innocent smile.
He hummed, unconvinced. “Alright, then. How do you feel about placing it on Downtown Avenue?”
You nodded immediately. “Sounds great.”
His sharp gaze bore into you as he placed his pen down. “Interesting answer,” he mused, leaning forward until your faces were so close they nearly touched. “I never mentioned Downtown Avenue.”
Your eyes widened, and you quickly leaned back in your chair, flustered. Heat rose to your cheeks as you scrambled to regain composure. “I—I’m sorry, Mr. Park. Please continue. I’m listening now.”
He didn’t look convinced but leaned back into his chair, eyes narrowing slightly. “Alright.”
For all his calm professionalism, Sunghoon couldn’t quite figure you out. Sure, you were talented—he couldn’t deny that. But you were also incredibly dishonest, something he’d picked up on a month ago.
From the moment you first met, he could feel your gaze on him, as if you had a personal vendetta. He figured you hated him for how blunt he’d been during that initial meeting. But as time passed, he realized it was the exact opposite.
The revelation had come during a lunch break with the other department heads.
“What about you, Mr. Park?” one of them asked, smirking. “Is there a special lady waiting for you at home?”
Sunghoon raised a brow, finishing a bite of his food before setting his utensils down. “No, I live alone.”
The man hummed, and the others chuckled knowingly. Then, one of them leaned forward. “What about Ms. Y/N?”
At that, Sunghoon froze. “Excuse me?” he asked, voice cold.
The man chuckled nervously, straightening up. “Well, everyone knows how much she’s into you. Why don’t you give her a chance?”
The words threw Sunghoon off completely. “How much she’s into me?” he repeated, utterly confused. “Why would she be?”
For the first time in a long while, Sunghoon felt genuinely flustered. The idea that you might like him had never crossed his mind. And once the seed was planted, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.
His first instinct was to let you down easy. He’d been pursued before and thought it best to nip things in the bud. But when it came to you, things didn’t go as planned. Every time he tried to confront you, the words just wouldn’t come out.
In his frustration, he turned to Jaeyun, the office gossip king.
“Mr. Sim,” Sunghoon began, his voice strained. “Just tell me already.”
Jaeyun turned away, arms crossed. “I’m not spilling Y/N’s secrets.”
Sunghoon’s patience was wearing thin. “I’ll give you my year-end bonus.”
Jaeyun’s head whipped around, a sly grin spreading across his face. “Deal. Yes, she’s interested in you, but not enough to ask you out.”
Sunghoon raised a brow. “What do you mean, ‘not enough’? Are you saying I’m not worth asking out?”
Jaeyun held his hands up defensively. “No, no, she’s just focused on her career right now. Don’t take it personally.”
But Sunghoon did take it personally. The idea of someone liking him and not acting on it? It didn’t sit well with him. His pride was bruised.
From then on, he started coaxing you, trying to provoke you into asking him out. At office dinners, he’d sit near you, only for you to switch tables. In meetings, you avoided eye contact as if it were a matter of life and death. It was infuriating.
And now, as he explained the project, you sat across from him, staring at him like he was the center of your universe. He couldn’t take it anymore.
“Ms. Y/N,” he said abruptly.
“Hm?” you hummed, snapping back to attention.
He leaned forward slightly, his eyes scrutinizing you. “Have you heard the latest office gossip?”
You tilted your head, confused. “I don’t think so, sir. But what does that—”
“I heard the women in the office are all over our new hire, Mr. Kim,” he interrupted. “Are you one of them?”
Your brow furrowed, suspicious of his sudden interest. “Well, I haven’t had the chance to speak to Mr. Kim yet, so—”
“Oh, for God’s sake,” he groaned, rubbing his temples. “I know you’re interested in me.”
Your eyes widened at his bluntness, but instead of denying it, you relaxed. “Yes, that’s right.”
His jaw tightened. “Then why haven’t you said anything? You lack initiative—”
You cut him off, staring at him dead in the eye. “Are you interested in me, Mr. Park?”
The question caught him off guard. His ears turned red as he replied, “No, I’m not.”
“Then why would I ask you out?” you shot back, your tone calm and collected.
He was stunned into silence. Since when did you have the upper hand in this conversation?
“Because it would allow you to get over me quicker,” he said, straightening his tie.
You stared at him for a moment before bursting into laughter.
“What’s so funny?” he demanded, his pride wounded.
“You think too highly of yourself, Mr. Park,” you said, standing up. “Did you think I’d beg for you? My work is more important than any man—even you.”
With that, you turned and walked out of his office, leaving him frozen in place.
For the first time, Park Sunghoon felt like he’d underestimated someone. But one thing was certain: he wasn’t going to let you off that easily.
In the days following your conversation with Sunghoon, you noticed a subtle shift in his behavior. The once-distant supervisor now seemed to find reasons to linger near your workspace, his presence a constant, albeit silent, companion. It was almost endearing, watching him struggle with the unfamiliar territory of being put in his place.
Today, his strategy appeared to involve hovering nearby, perhaps hoping you’d initiate a conversation. His restlessness was overwhelming. Should he apologize? But that would require him to make the first move, a notion that likely clashed with his pride.
Seeking guidance, Sunghoon found himself seated across from Jaeyun at an upscale restaurant—a setting procured through the promise of an expensive dinner. Jaeyun, the holder of all office gossip, knew how to drive a bargain.
“Alright, talk. Has she mentioned anything?” Sunghoon inquired, his impatience barely concealed.
Jaeyun took a deliberate sip of his wine before responding. “Nope, not a word.”
Sunghoon’s frustration was evident. “Nothing? Are you sure?”
Jaeyun nodded, his gaze drifting to the gorgeous night view outside. “I swear. I mean, she’s been busy lately. Extremely busy.”
Sunghoon’s curiosity was piqued. “Explain, Mr. Sim.”
“Please call me Jaeyun, we’re not at work.” Jaeyun said.
Sunghoon gulped never being informal before. “Okay…. Jaeyun— please elaborate.”
Setting his utensils down, Jaeyun sighed. “Well, besides the project you two are working on, she also has financial responsibilities concerning her family, especially her younger brother.”
Sunghoon listened intently.
“She’s been working overtime to gather extra funds for his tuition. I heard he’s exceptionally talented in the entertainment field, but their family isn’t wealthy enough to cover the expenses.”
Sunghoon absorbed the information, No he didn’t understand. Sunghoon has been fortunate his whole life but he was open to learning. He sat there contemplating his next move.
Jaeyun’s voice broke through his thoughts. “What’s all this for anyway? Do you like her?”
Sunghoon scoffed. “Why would you think that?”
Jaeyun smirked. “Who goes this far to reject a woman?”
Sunghoon pondered the remark. Perhaps you had made more of an impression on him than he cared to admit. Interest? Maybe.
“Okay, how should I approach this? What does she like? Purses? Jewelry?”
Jaeyun chuckled. “Wait, you’re serious? Oh man, you really have no idea…”
Sunghoon remained silent, a faint blush coloring his ears and face.
“Just be normal, Show her you care.” Jaeyun observed Sunghoon’s puzzled expression. “If you really need to buy her something, get her some food. She enjoys a good meal.”
Now that was something Sunghoon could manage. If he was going to reach out to you, a thoughtful gesture like sharing a meal might be the perfect starting point.
Sunghoon wanted to do something nice for you. A nice thought quickly turned into an overbearing gesture.
One day, you found a paper bag in your office. Inside were sweets from the bakery just a few minutes away from the building. Even though they weren’t your favorite, you appreciated the gesture and ate them. Sunghoon saw you smile through your office blinds a safe distance away and felt happy. He quickly looked around to make sure no one noticed and then walked away.
After that, he started leaving more and more food in your office. It became overwhelming. Today, you walked in and saw so much food that it startled you. You had figured out it was Sunghoon; he wasn’t very sneaky, especially after you caught him leaving your office last week.
This was too much. How could you eat all this? You sighed, closed your office door, and walked to Sunghoon’s office. You knocked.
“Come in,” he said.
You entered, giving him a sharp look. He stood up, adjusting his suit.
“Ms. Y/N?” he asked, looking confused.
“Mr. Park, how much longer are you going to leave all that food in my office?”
He blinked. “What do you mean?”
You crossed your arms. “Did you really think I could eat all that in one sitting?”
He gulped, running a hand through his hair.
“And do you even know what foods I like? What if I was allergic to some of them?”
He scoffed walking over to you slowly. “What do you like then? What are you allergic to?” He was now very close.
“Can’t hate a man you haven’t given a chance, don’t you think?”
Your face turned red. You were stunned by his bluntness. “What are you talking about?”
“What are you doing tonight?” he asked.
You tried to keep your composure. “I don’t have plans, but—”
“Okay, I’ll be waiting for you after work then.”
You didn’t believe him at first. You’ve met many arrogant men who talk big, so you assumed he was the same.
After a seemingly long task, you finally finished your job, clocking out. You exited the building and saw him leaning on his car, arms crossed with his eyebrows furrowed like always. When he saw you, his eyes softened. He gave you a small smile and opened the passenger door.
This was new, but you went along, got in the car, and he closed the door behind you. You didn’t see it but, He checked his hair in his phone’s reflection before getting in.
As he drove, you admired the city view. The lights of the night never got old to you. But sooner than later curiosity got the better of you. “Where are we going?”
He glanced at you through the mirror before focusing back on the road. “Dinner at ‘The Villa.’”
Your eyes widened. “Are you serious? That place is expensive and fancy.”
He nodded. “I thought you’d enjoy it.”
You sighed. You could see he was trying, but fancy restaurants weren’t your thing. An idea popped into your head. “Turn here Mr. Park, I know a place we can go.”
He looked at you, puzzled, but followed your directions. You guided him to a small restaurant. As you both got out, he seemed disappointed when you didn’t let him open the door for you but brushed it off.
He looked around, not seeing any fancy places. “Is this it? A grill?”
You turned to him with the prettiest smile he’d ever seen on you. “Yup! Come on.” You reached out your hand.
Usually, he wouldn’t choose a place like this, but with a smile like that, he’d follow you anywhere. He took your hand, and you both went inside.
Inside, the atmosphere was cozy and lively. The smell of grilled food filled the air. You found a table, and he awkwardly sat down, clearly out of his element.
A server came by, placing a small grill in the center of your table and bringing plates of raw meat and vegetables. Sunghoon looked confused.
You giggled. “It’s a DIY grill. We cook our own food here.”
He raised an eyebrow. “We… cook?”
You nodded, picking up a piece of meat with the tongs and placing it on the grill. It sizzled, and the aroma was mouth-watering.
He watched you, then hesitantly picked up the tongs. He tried to mimic your actions but fumbled, almost dropping the meat.
You laughed, reaching over to guide his hand. “Like this.”
As the evening went on, you both cooked, ate, and talked. Sunghoon shared stories about his upbringing, and you told him about your family. He was clumsy with the grill, burning some pieces and undercooking others, but you found it endearing.
At one point, he tried to flip a piece of meat and it flew off the grill, landing on the table. He looked mortified, but you burst into laughter.
“I’m sorry,” he said, chuckling. “I’m not used to this.”
You smiled. “It’s okay. It’s fun.”
By the end of the night, the initial awkwardness had faded.
After a delightful dinner at the grill, you and Sunghoon stepped outside, the cool night air brushing against your skin. The city lights twinkled in the distance, casting a soft glow over the streets. As you walked side by side, you noticed a small park nearby, its swings gently swaying in the breeze.
“How about a walk in the park?” you suggested, your eyes sparkling with mischief.
Sunghoon glanced at the swings, a hint of hesitation in his eyes. “I haven’t been on a swing in years,” he admitted, a slight chuckle escaping his lips.
“Well, tonight’s the perfect night to revisit childhood memories,” you teased, nudging him playfully.
With a resigned smile, he agreed, “Alright, lead the way.”
You both approached the swings, and you took a seat on one, motioning for him to join you. He hesitated for a moment, then sat beside you, his posture stiff and unsure.
“Just relax,” you encouraged, giving him a gentle push. “I got you.”
As the swing moved, Sunghoon’s expression softened, and a genuine smile appeared on his face. He began to swing higher, his laughter blending with the night air.
“See? It’s fun,” you said, your voice filled with joy.
He nodded, his eyes meeting yours. “No, you’re the one making it fun Ms, Y/N.”
You both continued to swing, the world around you fading away. The simple act of swinging together brought a sense of closeness and comfort, a shared moment of happiness.
After a while, you slowed the swing and stood up. “Shall we continue our walk?”
“Of course,” he said, his voice soft.
As you walked through the park, you talked about everything and nothing—your dreams, your favorite books, the places you wanted to visit. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and with each step, you felt a deeper connection forming between you.
That night with Sunghoon felt like it was straight out of a dream—a memory you knew would replay in your mind over and over again. He wasn’t at all what you’d expected. Sure, he had an air of arrogance, and his confidence sometimes teetered on egotistical, but once you broke through that wall, he was entirely different. Genuine. Kind. Charming in a way that made you question how you’d ever misjudged him.
You’d never felt this kind of excitement in a long time, this sense of longing and hope for something more. A relationship. He hadn’t officially asked you out yet, but it felt inevitable. You’d already started imagining how it might all unfold.
But that was just wishful thinking.
The next day, as you walked into the office, you couldn’t ignore the way whispers followed you down the hallway. People stealing glances at you, hurriedly looking away when you caught their eye. At first, you brushed it off. Office gossip was nothing new. Maybe someone had spilled coffee on their boss again.
But the moment you saw your phone light up with notifications—hundreds of them—you realized you were the center of the latest spectacle.
It wasn’t just office chatter. It was everywhere. Tabloids, social media, magazines, blogs. Photos of you and Sunghoon—laughing together, standing too close, looking too comfortable. But that wasn’t the worst part. The headlines? They were brutal.
“Is Riki Nishimura’s Older Sister Using Park Sunghoon for Fame?”
“Dating Rumors Could Derail His Career!”
“How Will This Affect HER Younger Brother’s Future?”
Your stomach churned as you scrolled. At first, you laughed bitterly, brushing it off as ridiculous speculation. But then, you saw the headline about your brother. Your little brother, who had worked so hard to get where he was. Your heart sank.
If they wanted to drag your name through the mud, fine. But dragging your family into it? Threatening Riki’s career? That crossed a line.
You paced the floor of your office, wracking your brain for a solution. There was only one answer. It wasn’t fair, but it was the only way. You and Sunghoon… this thing between you—it couldn’t happen. Not if it meant jeopardizing your brother’s future.
The tears came slowly at first, then all at once as you slumped into your chair, burying your face in your hands. You hadn’t even realized how much you’d come to cherish what you began to have with Sunghoon until now, as you were being forced to let it go.
Meanwhile, Sunghoon had no idea what was happening. He was in his office, practically glowing, still riding the high from the time you spent together. He couldn’t wait to see you.
On his break, he searched for you. The lounge. The meeting room. Even your office. But you were nowhere to be found.
Frustrated, he turned to his co-worker—and now trusted friend—Jaeyun.
“Jaeyun, have you seen Y/N?” he asked, his tone casual, but his impatience obvious.
Jaeyun’s expression fell, pity flashing in his eyes. “Y/N? She… she put in for a two-week leave this morning. I figured you knew.”
Sunghoon’s heart sank. “What? Why? What happened?”
Jaeyun gave him a pointed look. “You haven’t seen the news, have you?”
Frowning, Sunghoon pulled out his phone, quickly typing in his name. The search results made his breath hitch. Article after article, photos, speculation, your name tied to his, your family dragged into the chaos.
Then he saw the headline about your brother. His grip on the phone tightened. He knew what you were thinking. Knew why you’d disappeared. And there was no way he was going to let this spiral any further.
Without a second thought, he called your number. Once. Twice. Three times. Each attempt went to voicemail.
Panic bubbled in his chest. He couldn’t let you do this—not alone, not to yourself, not to your relationship.
He barked an order to his assistant to start taking down the articles, to figure out who was behind this mess. But first, he needed to find you.
And when he did, he wasn’t going to let you push him away.
The days felt endless as you holed up in your apartment, your only companions being guilt and loneliness. It had been a week since you requested a two-week leave, and in that time, you hadn’t dared step foot outside. The weight of the news, the whispers, and the consequences of your choices pressed down on you like a heavy blanket.
The day you left the office, you called Riki, your voice trembling as you asked if he was okay. He reassured you that everything was fine—for now. His management had advised him to lay low until the rumors blew over. He didn’t sound angry, but that almost made it worse. You felt like you’d dragged him into your mess, and the guilt ate away at you.
Since then, you’d spent most of your time thinking about Sunghoon. Replaying the moments you’d shared, wondering how he felt, and most of all, worrying about what you’d say to him when you eventually faced him again. Did he care that much? Or had this all been one-sided? These questions swirled in your mind endlessly as you lay in bed, staring at the ceiling.
Desperate to drown out your thoughts, you remembered the new bar that had recently opened near your apartment. Without much thought, you dragged yourself out of bed, threw on some clothes, and headed out.
The bar was dimly lit, buzzing with quiet conversations and the occasional burst of laughter. You didn’t waste any time. One drink turned into two, then three, then four. You lost count after that, the haze of alcohol dulling your thoughts until you didn’t feel much of anything. Eventually, your body gave in, and you slumped over, unconscious.
Meanwhile, Sunghoon was unraveling.
It had been a week since he last saw you, and the distance was driving him insane. Every attempt to find you ended in failure. He didn’t know where you lived, your favorite places, or even how to contact your family. It frustrated him to no end, and it hurt even more to think that you might be avoiding him.
Every evening, he found himself at the small grill you both went to, hoping to catch a glimpse of you. Tonight was no different. He stood outside the familiar spot, his hands shoved into his coat pockets as he tried to stave off the cold.
The buzz of his phone broke through his thoughts, and his heart leapt when he saw your name on the screen. He fumbled to answer, pressing the phone to his ear.
“Y/N? Where are you—”
“Are you friends with the owner of this phone?” a deep, unfamiliar voice interrupted.
Sunghoon blinked, pulling the phone away to confirm it was your number on the display. Confusion settled in. “Uh, yeah? Who is this? Why do you have her phone?”
“No worries,” the man replied. “She’s passed out in my bar. I found her phone unlocked and figured I’d call someone. Can you come pick her up?”
Sunghoon’s heart dropped. “Where is she?”
The man gave him the location, and Sunghoon didn’t hesitate. He bolted to his car and sped through the city, his mind racing with questions. Were you okay? Why were you at a bar alone this late?
When he arrived, he barely parked the car before running inside. His eyes scanned the room until they landed on you. Slumped over the bar, your head resting on your arms, you looked so vulnerable. Relief and worry collided in his chest as he approached you.
“You’re Hoon, right?” the bartender asked, eyeing him curiously.
Sunghoon blinked in confusion before realizing the name was probably how you saved his contact. He smiled faintly, nodding. “Yeah, that’s me.”
The bartender nodded and stepped away, leaving Sunghoon to focus on you. His chest tightened when he saw how puffy your eyes were, evidence of the tears you’d cried before drinking yourself into this state.
He crouched beside you, placing a gentle hand on your back. “Y/N… can you walk?”
Your eyes fluttered open, blurry and unfocused as they locked with his. For a moment, you looked like you were seeing a ghost.
“Hoon?” you slurred softly, your voice tinged with disbelief.
He sighed in relief. “Yeah, it’s me. Come on, let’s get you out of here.”
But when you didn’t move, he frowned. You were too out of it to help him. He checked your phone, hoping for some clue about where to take you, but it was locked.
He hesitated. Taking you to his place didn’t feel right, but with no other options and the clock striking midnight, he made a decision.
“You’ll understand, right?” he murmured to himself, draping his coat over your shoulders. He carefully helped you to your feet, guiding you out of the bar and into his car.
The drive to his penthouse was quiet, save for your soft breathing. He couldn’t stop himself from stealing glances at you, the city lights illuminating your face in a way that made his chest ache. Even like this, you were beautiful.
When they arrived, getting you upstairs was a challenge. You slumped against him, muttering incoherently and occasionally whining about how tired you were. By the time he managed to unlock his door and get you inside, he was exhausted.
He guided you to his bedroom, laying you down gently on the bed. As he adjusted his coat on your shoulders, he heard you mumble something. When he turned back, his face turned bright red.
“Why is it so hot?” you grumbled, fumbling with the buttons of your shirt.
“Woah, hey—don’t do that!” he yelped, grabbing your hands to stop you. “Just… just wait, I’ll turn on the AC!”
He backed away, keeping a wary eye on you as he adjusted the thermostat. When he returned, he brought a glass of water, helping you sit up to drink. “There, that’s better, hm?”
You sighed, lying back down with a soft hum of approval.
Sunghoon turned to leave, planning to sleep on the couch, but you grabbed his wrist, your eyes wide and pleading. “Hoon… stay. Please?”
His heart clenched. How could he ever say no to you?
“Alright,” he whispered, circling the bed and lying down on the other side, facing the ceiling. He felt awkward, unsure of what to do, but within moments, you shifted closer, resting your head on his chest.
He froze, his heart pounding as he felt your steady breaths against him. Slowly, he relaxed, his hand coming up to stroke your hair.
“Goodnight,” he murmured softly, his eyes fluttering shut as sleep finally claimed him.
The glow of the sun streamed through the curtains, forcing you to stir awake. The dull throbbing in your head hit as soon as you sat up, and you winced, bringing a hand to your temple.
Blinking, you took in your surroundings. The room was unfamiliar—sleek, modern, and definitely not your own. Panic began to rise in your chest as you tried to piece together the events of the previous night. You remembered the bar, the drinks, and then… nothing.
Your eyes widened as you looked down at yourself, relieved to find you were still in your clothes. But then you spotted the figure lying beside you, their back turned to you.
Oh no.
You gasped, clutching the pillow you’d been sleeping on, and without thinking, you began smacking the man’s back with it in a panic. “Who are you?! What is this?! Did we—?!”
The man bolted awake, flinching and shielding himself with his arms. “Hey! Hey! Stop!” he shouted, scrambling backward until he fell off the bed with a loud thud.
You froze mid-swing, the familiar voice cutting through your panic. Slowly, you leaned over the edge of the bed, clutching the pillow tightly.
“Sunghoon?” you whispered, your eyes wide.
He was sprawled on the floor, wincing as he rubbed the back of his head. His legs were awkwardly bent in the air, and he looked up at you with an awkward, sheepish smile. “Uh, hi.”
You let out a deep breath, sitting back on the bed. “Oh my god,” you muttered, dragging your hands down your face.
Sunghoon quickly got up, brushing himself off as he looked at you with a mix of concern and embarrassment. “I’m sorry, I should’ve explained sooner. We didn’t… y’know, do anything.”
Your cheeks burned as you glanced up at him. “Are you sure?”
His ears turned bright pink as he nodded fervently. “Yes! I swear. You passed out at the bar, and I didn’t know where you lived, so I brought you here. That’s it, I promise.”
You relaxed slightly, but the tension in the room remained heavy. The silence that followed was suffocating, neither of you knowing what to say.
Finally, you broke it, your voice trembling. “Sunghoon… our relationship has to end here.”
His head snapped toward you, his eyes wide with disbelief. “What? Why?”
You avoided his gaze, staring at the sheets instead. “I’m sure you’ve seen the news. They’re dragging my brother into this, and I can’t let that happen. I can’t risk his career for my selfish desires.”
“Y/N—“
“What we had was nice,” you interrupted, your voice cracking slightly. “But it’s better for everyone if we stop seeing each other.”
He stepped closer, his brows furrowed in frustration. “You should check the tabloids again.”
You froze, your heart pounding. “What do you mean?”
Sunghoon grabbed his phone from the nightstand, quickly pulling up the articles before handing it to you. You hesitated, but as you scrolled, your breath caught.
The scandal was gone. There were no articles tearing you apart, no headlines about your brother being caught up in rumors. Instead, there were positive comments, even a few articles praising the supposed romance.
“How… how did this happen?” you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
Sunghoon sighed softly, sitting down beside you. His voice was gentle but firm. “I made it happen. I wasn’t going to let them ruin your life, or your brother’s, over something like this.”
You turned to look at him, his face close to yours. His expression was so sincere, so full of quiet determination, that it made your chest ache.
“Why would you do that?” you asked, your voice trembling.
“Because I care about you,” he said simply. “And I’m not giving up on us that easily.”
The words hung in the air between you, heavy with meaning. Your eyes locked, and in that moment, all the fear, doubt, and guilt melted away.
Without thinking, you leaned in, your lips brushing his tentatively. Sunghoon froze for a split second before responding, his hand cupping your cheek as he deepened the kiss. It was soft and slow at first, filled with all the emotions neither of you had been able to express.
But soon, the kiss grew more passionate, more desperate, as if you were both trying to make up for all the lost time and the moments you almost didn’t have. His other hand found its way to your waist, pulling you closer, while your fingers tangled in his hair.
Soft sighs fell from the both of you as he laid you back on the bed. His hand exploring your body softly and slowly.
You took the chance to snake your hands below his shirt, scratching his back slightly making him shutter against you.
When you finally pulled back, both of you were breathless, your foreheads resting against each other.
“Sunghoon,” you whispered, your voice shaky but certain. “Thank you.”
He smiled softly, his thumb brushing over your cheek. “Anything for you.”
BONUS 𝜗𝜚˚⋆
“Hoon, get up,” you said softly, glancing down at Sunghoon, who was sprawled across your chest like he had no intention of moving.
“Mm,” he hummed lazily, burying his face into you as if that would make you forget about work entirely.
You let out a soft laugh, stroking his hair absentmindedly. The moment your fingers ran through his dark locks, you realized you’d made a mistake—he let out a content sigh and snuggled in closer, clearly sinking even deeper into his sleepy state.
“We have to go to work,” you said, this time playfully, though your hands still gently tangled in his hair.
“I don’t want to,” he mumbled, his pout evident even though his face was tucked against you. God, he was so cute.
You smiled softly, shaking your head. “Well, we have responsibilities we can’t ignore, so you need to get up, Hoon.”
When he didn’t respond, you rolled your eyes, deciding to switch tactics. “If you get up, I’ll give you a reward,” you said, your tone light but teasing.
That did it. His head immediately shot up, his sleepy eyes now wide with interest. “What kind of reward?” he asked, a mischievous smile spreading across his face.
You smirked, leaning back slightly as his head rested on your chest, his eyes glinting with curiosity. “You’ll find out if you get up,” you teased, brushing a stray lock of hair away from his face.
Sunghoon raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued but not entirely convinced. “That’s suspicious,” he murmured, though the corner of his lips quirked into a small smile. “Is it worth it?”
“More than worth it,” you said confidently, trying to stifle a laugh. “But you’re never going to know if you keep laying there.”
He groaned dramatically, still clinging to you like you were the only thing keeping him tethered to the bed. “You’re not making this easy, you know.”
“Well, you’re the one being stubborn,” you replied, gently pushing at his shoulder, though he didn’t budge.
Then, in one swift motion, he propped himself up on his elbows, his face dangerously close to yours. “Okay,” he said, his voice low and playful. “I’m up. Where’s my reward?”
Your breath hitched slightly at the sudden proximity, his teasing grin making your heart race. “Patience,” you said, trying to keep your composure. “You’re not fully up yet. Get ready for work first.”
He tilted his head, pretending to think. “Hmm, that wasn’t part of the deal.”
“It’s implied,” you countered, laughing softly as you tried to push him off the bed.
But instead of moving, Sunghoon leaned even closer, his warm breath fanning over your cheeks. “I think I deserve at least a preview,” he murmured, his lips brushing yours ever so slightly.
Your heart skipped a beat as you tried to glare at him, but it was impossible when his mischievous grin was so disarming. “You’re impossible,” you muttered, but before you could say anything else, he closed the distance, capturing your lips in a soft but lingering kiss.
It started playful, his lips tugging into a smile against yours, but quickly turned deeper, his hand cupping the side of your face as he kissed you with a tenderness that made your heart skip. He pulled back just enough to whisper against your lips, “Best reward ever.”
You rolled your eyes, still breathless. “Now get up, Hoon. Or that'll be the last one you'll ever get.”
He laughed, finally pulling himself out of bed. “Fine, fine. You’re the boss in this house.”
He disappeared into the bathroom, you couldn’t help but smile to yourself, your cheeks warm as you touched your lips. Sunghoon always had a way of turning your mornings into something unforgettable.

TIMES SENKU TALKED ABOUT YOU
"I will always be by your side."
pairing: senku ishigami x fem!reader
words: 9.2k
genre/s: fluff, mystery, storytelling in the third perspective (special ep, s3, s4), slight angst
warning/s: she/her, swearing, ambiguous/not direct ending
synopsis: there is always someone next to senku, all the time.
masterlist ; loyalty built from love (part 1)
a/n: jokes on you guys, i was already writing a part two even before i got many requests for it. also, i wrote part 1 like months ago and it took months to write as well, so when i re-read it for part 2, part 1 was so ambiguously written good that even i have no idea what the hell i was going for.
also, don't be shy to give any comments, because i am reading those and i love them all <3
anyone could tell that senku misses you
like a lot...
to the point that he mentions you
a lot...
it was rather endearing to the people around him
it's cute that senku still remains the habit of talking about you whenever you're not physically with him
yuzuriha always liked that habit of his
she will never not be bothered by it, she's used to it after all
he would always at least mention you once a day
he just loves talking about you
it's really endearing and an adorable side to the usually unaffectionate friend of hers
"the first balloon that humanity took flight in was made of hemp cloth," shared senku as gen let out an awed noise. "the one massive ordeal to overcome is..."
"right..." yuzuriha raised her hand. "you need a crap ton of cloth, don't you?" she asked with a slightly painful look on her face, already knowing the work she's going to put into.
"oh, look!" senku pointed at yuzuriha with a devilish expression. "i totally didn't realize! we've got the crafts club here!" yuzuriha jabbed a fist at his chest.
senku and kaseki then got onto the floor and bowed, performing a dogeza. "the science team will commit itself to designing the passenger basket," senku explained in a robot manner.
"we'll make any tools you need," kaseki tells her, raising his head.
"can i leave the cloth making to you? to the yuzuriha crafts team?" senku confidently asked, raising his head.
yuzuriha nods as senku stood up and the two shared a high-five. "of course you can!" she exclaimed with a peace sign.
"i could've had y/n help you with this. well actually, i think she would've helped immediately without me saying anything, but..." senku trailed off, but yuzuriha understood what he's trying to say.
she placed a hand on his shoulder in a comforting manner. "i know, senku. it's fine! i've got it handled."
later on yuzuriha asked senku and kaseki to make a loom to get things going a bit faster and easier. as she waited, senku called, "hey, it's done." she turned around expecting a simpler loom, but it was not. she let out a surprised noise, falling onto the ground. a pleasant surprise, she was given.
"was this not what you were expecting, yuzuriha-chan?" kaseki asks, a bit worried.
"we didn't have much time," says senku, looking a bit worried too. "did you want an electric one? maybe i should've. y/n would have my head seeing i didn't immediately make an electric one for you."
yuzuriha hurriedly dismissed their worry. "no! no! i appreciate it a lot!"
"they're the senku department store's first high-end products. it might be a while before they start selling," says gen, looking at the racks that held an assortment of clothes and the people that looked around the new place.
"y/n would've love this," senku absentmindedly mentions. "she would've easily volunteered for that fashion show too."
gen turned to senku as if he grew a head.
"oh, also, hand them out to anyone who works," senku then tells gen. "we have a living manifestation of greed who'll buy just about anything."
that was first time gen heard senku talk about you as if he's some clingy boyfriend that misses his girlfriend, he thought he was finally going insane in the stone world
he genuinely would have never thought that senku's the type to be like that when it comes to relationships
which was already shocking in of itself
he truly never expected to have "senku" and "relationship/boyfriend/girlfriend" in the same sentence
are you two really just boyfriend and girlfriend though?
it doesn't seem right to call you and senku, girlfriend and boyfriend
it feels like the two of you have something more
ryusui never met you
of course because when the fuck would he ever
but he has been in the same room as you a few times
people from the "rich, noble, important" families would hold these galas for the "high-class", and you attended some of them for connecting purposes
he, on the other hand, attended most of these which made it possible for him to have seen you in person a few time
though, he never dared interact with you
he only stared at you from afar in awe
it was also an added bonus that because of one of these galas, your family ended up connecting with his family through buying yachts
though, other than that, the nanami conglomerate and the l/n family has no other connection than a business one
and so when senku mentioned your name...
he didn't know what to think when senku mentioned you as if you were an old friend
and judging by chrome's reaction, it seems that the scientist has mentioned you a few times already
"we're in the sky, protected by nothing but our own skin and flesh. you don't get this kind of extravagance anywhere else," he says, looking on the horizon they are given from the air balloon. "not this unique sensation."
"yeah," senku agreed. "y/n would love to be here right now, but sucks to be her for not being here." he cackled out a laughter as chrome turned to him and gave him a light jab.
"seriously?" he deadpanned, but then got distracted by a flock of bird, flying pass the balloon. "we're with the birds!" he exclaimed.
actually, did he even refer to you as if you were an old friend?
it almost felt like he referred to you as if you were dead...
and in a manner that only a really close friend has the rights to do
ryusui didn't believe that though
i mean, how could he?
you dead?
it's ridiculous (utterly ridiculous)
he can see the reasons on why senku has survived and thrived
he also knows the reasons on why you, too, are just as capable of surviving and thriving
so where are you really?
"it's as good as bread from a popular modern shop," senku says after taking a bite out of the stollen that francois just baked. "it'll last to the other side of the planet, and it's good as hell. a perfect food that i've been dying to have and we've got it now!"
"greed equals justice," is all what francois says.
"y/n's really missing out," senku absentmindedly called out. "she would've devoured these so fast, well, as much as her stomach can handle." he smiled fondly at the thought
gen turned to him and asked, "does she like bread that much?"
"loves them even more so than the average person," senku says with a tired expression from just thinking about it. "that girl dragged me around the globe just to have a damn bread tour."
francois wasn't sure if they had heard the scientist correctly
did senku just refer to you like you two are old friends?
you?
a member of the most powerful family in the entirety of japan?
the eldest of the said family?
the next in line?
the hidden treasure of japan?
it was strange
they were confused on why senku would have connections to you
and judging from gen's casual follow-up question, your name has been brought up more than once by senku
but it wasn't their job to be curious and to question the lives of others
their job was to serve ryusui-sama
and for the sake of the nanami conglomerate, ishigami senku is an absolute want
minami, being the journalist she is, are one of the only few people that knows you a bit better than most
after all, she was handpicked by the l/n family to be one of the few media representation for your first ever media debut
it was groundbreaking for her career
and it also broke the entirety of japan
you had revealed then that you will not be accepting any courting, and offers of marriage because you had already found the person you'd spend your life with
no one knew who you were talking about
she remembered the massive wave of investigation happening shortly after the publication of that interview done by... everyone, really
no one ever figured it out who this person was
...or is
maybe she's the first amongst reporters to finally figure it out
"at least let me take the first picture for memory's sake!" exclaimed minami with an embarrassed expression.
"perfectly fair," voiced ukyo and gen.
ryusui laughed, raising his hand in the air. "i'm buying the photo, model rights, and all!" he declared.
minami turned to him, angry, baring teeth. "why should the first photo be yours?!"
"what are you talking about?" he asked. "it's a record of the beginning of technological civilization. it should be senku, obviously. am i right?"
senku owlishly stared at ryusui and minami.
"an exhibit at the nanami museum, representing the history of the new world." ryusui walked over to where senku stood with all the other cameras.
senku stuck a pinky into his ear. "what are you talking about?" he asked. "if anything, the first picture should be y/n." a wave of silence rose amongst the revived people. they know fully well that what senku had said was absolutely correct.
but they also know that it won't be possible right now.
the scientist sighs, breaking the silence. "it's too bad she's frozen shut right now," he mocked casually with a teasing grin.
"i think you're the only one who can joke about her like that," gen commented with a slightly awkward chuckle.
in the end, senku had the honors of being the first person photographed in the stone age, posing the famous einstein pose and minami had the honors of photographing the first picture in the stone age
but that wasn't the only thing that she got from this
she's always listening, you know? and there was one thing that stood out from the banter around her
no one in japan would have the courage, the boldness to joke around your name like senku had just did
not to your face nor behind your back
and yet senku, being the man of knowledge he is, is bold enough to do so
why is that?
was gen right?
that senku really is the only person who can joke about you like that?
since the surrender of tsukasa, there were many rumors she had heard about the two of you and it was all the same thing
that you and senku have something going on
she refuses to believe those rumors
she's a journalist—she shouldn't be believing in those rumors!
her motto is to find the truth
and the truth she will find sooner or later (when she gets the guts to ask you)
when they found the oil, obviously they had to test it out
gen was the one conducting the test drive (because he's the only one with drivers license)
then taiju dropped by, getting a whiff of that oily smell
"hey! it's the love potion," commented taiju. "are you going to give it to someone, senku?"
the people there were confused on what taiju had meant. "what are you talking about, taiju-chan?" asked gen.
"you made some for me that day, remember?" taiju says as his mind took him back to the day it all started. "so that i would have the confidence to confess to yuzuriha. you also said it worked out for you and y/n because of it. it was the last moment we had before we all got petrified."
senku ended up cackling afterwards. "i did! i said that! i told you it was a love potion! you still believe that, you meathead?! that was gasoline!"
"what?! it was?!"
"also, no way in hell would i ever use something on y/n unless she forces me in another of her batshit insane experiments," senku deadpanned. "but if you think it smells the same with no prior knowledge—"
now, gen is totally one to assume
and what senku said kind of sounded like an implication...
in both that way and a completely different way
although, if it was that way then, knowing senku, he would have never mentioned it
so it was probably an actual batshit insane thing
why does gen feel like his image of you will be changed while they're here
a small moment of reference when yo was whispering some shit to gen, pinning senku as some sort of mad lad
well, he kind of is but...
"i'm pretty sure he's wack," whispered yo to gen. both sweating.
"nah, y/n's the one who's wack between she and i. i've still got my mind intact, just barely," senku retorted, looking back at the two.
when valentines came, gen had an interesting answer to his question
"ah, valentine's day," mused gen as kohaku repeated it, confused. "yeah, events are important. for the drago—i mean, for the morale."
senku and yuzuriha went out of the laboratory, handing out the chocolates. gen turned to senku with a question in mind. "do you give chocolates to y/n-chan, senku-chan?"
senku shook his head. "nah, y/n doesn't really like them," he answered which shocked gen. "she'd rather have things that she could wear or practical gifts."
see
look at that
that gave a lot to gen
senku practically confirmed that he gives gifts to you!
and also does so on VALENTINES
if that's not confirmation of being a couple, he doesn't know what is
but then again...
like he had thought before, it doesn't feel like the two you are just boyfriend and girlfriends
but what other kind of relationship would still condone in the valentines romance gift giving?
shouldn't there be some kind of answers by now?
then after they took the group photo with the finished ship
senku looked a bit... down? contemplated?
it was strange to see
why would he be feeling down?
it was quite obvious as well
"are you unsatisfied about the pictures, senku?" asked minami, holding her camera.
"nah, i don't care about that," answered senku.
"then what's got you so down, senku-chan?" asked gen.
senku stared off in the direction of where the tsukasa empire was with a somber look. gen immediately understood from that alone. "take lots of pictures when y/n comes back, journalass," senku told her as he walked off towards the ship.
everyone knew that you barely had any pictures
after all, you were called the hidden treasure of japan
you probably told senku how you felt about it, and he remembers
gen thought it was sweet
minami felt herself gushing about it
when ryusui called upon the people who were needed on the expedition, it was gen's turn to come aboard.
and, to be perfectly clear, tsukasa was left behind by choice because he felt obliged to protect the kingdom of science since most of the battle team were coming along to the perseus
"uh, you don't need me, do you?" asked gen, frantically. "i've got the strength of a bean sprout."
"we don't know what kinds of enemies we're going to meet. what good is a mentalist if they aren't there when that happens, dumbass?" explained senku. "i'd have y/n instead of you if she wasn't being frozen away like a piece of salami."
the modern people felt cultural shock at the casual way of senku playing around your name, but at the same time they feel that they should get used to it.
"ah so i'm just a second choice, huh?" mused gen as he trekked up towards the ship.
"of course you are," senku answered without thinking. "it's always y/n first to me."
the crowd who watched the take off of the ship awed at the display of loyalty senku accidentally announced. gen started grinning, knowing full well that he caused senku to slip like that. senku then grimaced at what he said even thought it's true.
maybe senku should dial back a bit...
ryusui also knows now that you're very much alive somewhere in the kingdom of science
he just doesn't know why you're not physically present
also, did his ears deceive him or did senku just practically confess his feelings for you?
but it wasn't that...
judging from the way the people present cooed at his confession and how gen was smirking like he set it up on purpose
was there something else between the two of you?
this time, it was yuzuriha who shared something about you
"these kinds of people are always dying to show you the machines they tuned the hell out of," says nikki, looking sympathetic.
"they won't let you go until their done," kohaku added.
"i'll be alright!" yuzuriha clarified, making kohaku and nikki shocked. "i always sat through senku-kun's five hour rocket lectures and stuff."
"we have a veteran here!" exclaimed nikki, still looking shock with kohaku.
yuzuriha laughs at that. "if you think i'm a veteran, then y/n must be something else! she always did listen to him..." she mused with a fond smile.
senku smiled as well from that comment.
yuzuriha may not be as close to you as she is to senku, but she completely adores you!
...after getting over the fact that you're the y/n l/n
you were like... any other person, just a bit clueless in other areas
actually, you were a lot like senku in a lot of ways
it's a good portion of the reason why the two of you have the relationship that you two have grown to have
this time, gen was the one to first mention you to amaryllis
albeit in a more... implied upbringing
despite not actually knowing if you two are intertwined or not
but he's very confident that you two are
"that kind of attack isn't going to work on senku-chan," he says. "he's already married, you know?"
and then he went scummy
to which kohaku shouted and hit at him for
and then she later scolded herself after forcing a kiss on senku to save her own ass
she kneeled on the ground and slammed her head on the floor in a dogeza position, facing the direction of ishigami village. "i am sorry, y/n. i will be held responsible for this action, and i will allow you to give me whatever punishment is deemed necessary."
senku sighed, sticking a finger in his pinky, looking exasperated. "y/n's reasonable, calm down, she won't be that mad." his eyes looking far away in the same direction as if thinking of something himself for you.
while senku was making conditioner for kohaku, he mentions you
"y/n's actually been nagging me about making hair stuff for a while now," senku commented while making the hair products. "she always had this specific routine for her hair."
amaryllis didn't know who you are. "is she the one who's married to him?" she asked gen.
"yes," he answered. "y/n-chan is a very powerful person. she's probably even stronger than the strongest soldiers here on the island."
"really?!"
senku glanced at the implied threat gen displayed with an unamused look, but let him does so anyways. it's true, after all.
when amaryllis tried to girlie-fy the boys,
"you know, y/n would actually be impressed that you could fake being a girl like that," senku mentions, crossing his arms on his chest after washing off the makeup on his face.
"really?"
"she'd probably even call you—in her words—a tall baddie." senku made a grimace as he said that.
then when the two girls and one boy dressed like a girl left, gen mentioned your name to start a conversation
"if only we have y/n-chan, huh?" gen comments.
senku shook his head. "nah, she wouldn't do that," he says. "although if she was here, she'd probably go all stealth instead."
"are they really..."
"i'm not answering any questions you have about them."
"so you do know!"
gen was inspecting the earpiece, amazed and shocked by how simple it can be done
and then, of course, senku mentions you
"it was y/n who actually taught me how to make that," senku commented. "i don't know why she bothered learning to make one when she could literally buy the best one, but she said she liked how simple and cosmetic it can be if made like this. though, i'm glad she taught it to me now because it certainly useful for this."
"of course this is y/n-chan's design, not yours," says gen, holding it up in front of him.
as senku looked through the pile of gold dust
as the pile of platinum grew
it was the first time he felt vulnerable since you had been frozen shut
he isn't one to be all emotional, but at moments like these... it really showed just how much care byakuya had for him
senku scoffs. "if y/n was here, she'd be bawling her eyes out," he says, his eyes a bit glassy himself.
"you counting seconds all that time, and your papa collecting sand for decades..." gen looked wistful. "you two are alike."
once the team were able to make the revival fluid, the thought of reviving their stoned comrades were first in the list
senku ordered kohaku to cleanly cut the greedy captain when given the chance
afterwards, ryusui's stone parts were delivered to them
"i've always known you're ridiculously rational, but... but still you're practically psycho at this point!" screamed gen after figuring out what's happening.
senku shook his head with a smirk. "nah, y/n's the psycho one between us," he corrected. "if she was given parts like these, she'd be experimenting, mix-and-matching them. i'd be the only one to get her to stop."
"every time you say things about y/n-chan that she's a psycho and all, it ruins the image i have of her and i can't help but not believe you," gen bluntly replied. "except you're the only one that knows who she really is, so i have to believe you."
senku cackled.
when kohaku was fighting against moz, all she could think about was how he's nothing compared to you
"i like strong girls, too, as long as they have a pretty face," he says as he took out the machete out of his weapon. "what kind of men do you like, kohaku-chan? how about me? i'm strong as hell."
the girl let out a sigh, then tied her hair up to her usual ponytail while crouching down. "strength is strength of mind," she states, making him slightly confused. "to be able to continue hammering a wedge for as long as it takes to carry out one's will. that's the kind of person i'm drawn to."
her pose changed to a battle stance. "well~ this is a problem, moz. you seem to be the exact opposite," she tells him. "and compared to him?" she scoffs. "actually, compared to her? you're nothing. literally. she's stronger than both of us combined, actually, stronger than anyone else on this island."
"i don't know who you're referring to, but you're cute, kohaku-chan. just not cute enough though."
did kohaku just imply something
AND
maybe come out of the closet?
maybe
maybe not
who knows
but she really wasn't lying
moz really is nothing compared to the people she admires and respects the most
as the parts of the gun was laid out on the table, the people from the 21st century had recognized it
of course they did, after all,
"this is what made men and women, young and old, all of humanity, all of homo sapiens, the apex predators. it's the invention of the gods and demons, and even then, humans who owns these rank higher than what we can see on the pyramid," senku states as kaseki finished the building of the gun.
"we, humans, may be on top of the food chain, but once given some source of power? we become our own enemies. and we all know who's at the top here in japan." he lets out a teasing smirk as some let out a sigh, knowing who he's talking about.
"tools are neither gods nor demons," ukyo says. "it's up to the person to determine how it's used."
"then let's be damn glad that our rulers didn't use these to become demons," cackled senku as he just had to make a joke.
both gen and yuzuriha let out a loud sigh.
ukyo decided to ignore the misplaced joke, and continue with what he was going to say anyways.
then later on when ryusui asked who would wield the gun...
senku turned his head towards the stoned yu. "if i had continued my gun lessons with y/n, maybe i can, but compared to the only police officer? yeah, he's better off with it." then he hummed, turning to his two childhood friends. "how about you two? any of you comfortable wielding a gun? i know you both got lessons from y/n also."
yuzuriha shook her head. "well, it's best to just leave it with yu... my lessons with y/n were more of for self-defense," she says.
"i also think it's better for yu to handle it. he's the professional," taiju says. "y/n tried to teach me, but i just always end up using my hands during the mock fights."
gen, ukyo, and ryusui turned to the trio in different waves of shock.
"i wonder how those lessons went knowing your non-existent strength, senku-chan," gen mused.
the scientist rolled his eyes.
it was actually pretty shocking to hear that the trio had gun lessons with YOU
like what an honor??
but it also makes sense for none of the trio to pick up on it since they've already had pretty different skill sets; a gun just didn't fit within it
it was also kind of scary to think about it
everyone knows that the l/n family are all skilled and powerful people
each person had a different skill set honed and trained to the absolute perfection, and that the regime it took to get there was of on a entirely different level
to hear that you had taught those three a small part of your regime,
just how hard was it?
it was an honor, but at the same time, no normal person can probably handle the regime of a l/n
when the team saw that the islanders were getting evacuated
it was a sign that ibara planned to petrify the entire island
"w-we're in huge trouble!" exclaimed suika in a panic.
"nah, just the opposite," senku says with a confident smirk. "when the going gets tough, the tough get going. we might be able to take all of it. the enemy, the kingdom, and the medusa!"
he starts cackling. "oh, y/n, you could've been so damn useful here, why'd you just have to go and get punctured," he sighs with a shake of his head.
ukyo looked at senku in nervousness. "why does it seem like you always have to insult her situation?" he rhetorically asks.
yuzuriha chuckles. "you'll get used to it," she says with a sympathetic smile. "it's his way of showing his love to her."
ukyo thinks that he'll never get used to it
he was one of the people that didn't know the dynamic between you and senku since your accident had happened right when the stone war ended
it's not like he doesn't believe that you two are together, it's just that he's the type to have to hear/see it to believe it
he still have that image of you in his head
that you're someone like tsukasa, except way dangerous and way scarier
it also doesn't help that you and your family are probably the only people that can get past his enhanced hearing
it's easy to say that he's afraid of you
which is why every time senku goes and makes fun of your accident, it gives him whiplash
this time yuzuriha was the one to think of you as she stared at the broken stone fragments of the master of the island
"it isn't over yet," she says. "we have to keep thinking, and keep going; that's what i learned from him... her... from them! we still have some adhesive senku-kun made for us in the kingdom of science." her eyes glistening as she darted from piece to piece.
you and senku are one of the most goal-oriented people she knows
senku will not stop until he completes what he needs to do
and you will not stop until you get what you want
it's almost scary
and when senku freed hyoga as their last resort
"we weren't cornered," senku tell ibara with a smooth confident voice despite the sweat dripping from his face. "we had you corner us into this particular room." with that, he dropped the glass of revival fluid.
of course, gen felt like he needed to mention you to get hyoga to fight for their side. "also, don't forget that if anything happens to senku, y/n-chan will have you head," he whispered out, loud enough for hyoga to hear. "i wonder what'll happen to you after seeing her dearly beloved bleeding out."
senku sighed and shook his head at the shit gen is saying, but he can't oppose to it because it's true.
the only reason hyoga was able to inflict a critical hit on you is because you were protecting tsukasa's sister. and so what if you weren't protecting anyone AND anger engulfed you?
it's safe to say that no one wants to feel the true wrath of a member of the l/n family, much less from you
"i'm alone," senku says out loud as he watched the sun set off in the distance. his back heavy from the phone, his body aching from tiredness, and his shoulder throbbing with dried blood. his eyes glistened in nostalgia as his memories of the early stone world passes through his mind. "again. i'm alone again..."
the phone rings, shocking him out of his pondering.
"can you hear me, senku-san?" called ruri from the other side. "how are things over there, senku-san?"
he stared at the phone in front of him. a smirk slipping through his lips. "no," he changes his mind. "i'm not alone this time." he then quietly added,
"i also have someone i need to go home to."
as the topic of ruri and the mainland was brought up while they ate, taiju had lots to say
"is this ruri girl chrome's girlfriend or ex or something?" amaryllis asked francois, excited to hear some juicy details about her new allies/friends.
"no, i'm told that she is senku-sama's former wife," they answered.
taiju looked absolutely shocked, shaking from the news. "what?!" he exclaimed, really loud. "when did you get married, senku?! weren't you going to marry y/n?!?!" he shook the scientist by the collar.
senku had his fingers in his ears the entire time, not phased, but annoyed. he's used to the loudness of taiju after all. "just for three minutes! we got divorced right away," he explained.
that only fueled taiju more, shaking the scientist once again. "what?! when did you get divorced, senku!? was y/n okay with this?!"
"okay! okay!" senku exclaimed as he took the hands off of his collar. "i just said we got divorced right away! also, y/n was fine with it! it was ages ago."
now, francois isn't one to oblige in gossip especially when it's related to you
but when taiju implied that you and senku are betrothed, they can't help but wonder
are you and senku really engaged to each other?
they had seen how normal engaged couples are, but the two of you don't seem to act like that
but then again, you're, y/n l/n and he's, senku ishigami
not one is normal
the small group now stared at the trashed upper control room located on the perseus
chrome was fuming. "those assholes made a damn mess! they didn't even know what they were dealing with! bastards!" he ranted as he stomped onto the floorboards.
"now's not the time to be getting all salty," senku piped up as he stuck a pinky into his ear.
"actually, i've never seen senku truly angry," taiju says, smiling at his comment.
"no, i get angry. i'm not a saint. i'm just too busy to," interrupted the scientist. "and y/n definitely seen me angry a few times."
later on, when they finally de-petrified kohaku and ginro
instead of giving ginro a hug, kohaku ran to senku, giving the scientist a hug
ginro was mad about it, but who cares about him and his pervy ways
kirisame was blushing at the sight of kohaku hugging senku. albeit, him not reciprocating that, but receiving it with a smile and soft eyes anyways.
"oh right. kirisame-chan, you think they're in a legit relationship, don't you?" gen says. "senku's actually in a relationship with someone else. kohaku's actually breaking a lot of rules doing this."
"i don't think that's what that hug is about," says amaryllis. "not between those two."
"it better not be," screamed gen, purposely gaining kohaku's attention.
kohaku broke the hug off with senku. "i almost died!" she exclaimed to gen. "let me be relieved of surviving!"
then she kneeled to the ground and made a dogeza once again at the direction of the ishigami village. "i also assure you, y/n, that that hug was nothing. i would never do you like that. i would choose you over him any day," she stated as senku rolled his eyes while both gen and nikki laughed.
"you got that right, kohaku!" nikki hollered.
later at night, once the team finished de-petrifying the islanders and the rest of their people, a party of celebration was happening at the deck of the perseus
ginro and suika found senku and his team down at the lower half of the control room where the comms are
as senku bluntly asked what ruri needed, amaryllis was shocked
"eh?? isn't this your first time talking to your former wife after all that's happened on the island?" she lets out.
"that's senku for you," is all kohaku says.
"who cares about the former wife, he's already got a current wife to think about much less than a former one," retorted gen, making kohaku hit his head.
"that's my sister you're talking about."
on a cliff, some of the battle team gathered
kohaku and kirisame stood in front of each other
ginro, kinro, nikki, and kokuyo were stationed at the side, as the audience
"now that we know why-man is our enemy, our job as the battle team is no longer to investigate," kohaku announced as the leader of the said team. "it's to train for the inevitable battle!"
ginro lets out a frightened screech. "we just defeated the petrification kingdom! this is even scarier!"
kohaku and kirisame took a stance, then lounged for each other. the two neck and neck in skill. those watching couldn't help but be in awe at the sight of the dance.
"they're evenly matched!" exclaimed nikki.
"they're both incredible," kokuyo lets out.
"you're strong," kirisame says in between strikes. "you were holding back the last time we fought, weren't you?"
kohaku scoffs. "i wasn't going easy on you. i would never be disrespectful. i apologize. i was simply not accustomed to moving around in a dress."
ginro then bursts out a scream that he held in during the entire duration of the spar, freezing the two girls in shock. he then also ran away.
kohaku shook her head at ginro. "i won't be able to teach you more than you already know since you and i fairly the same in combat skill. the only person who can teach all of us more techniques is y/n, and hopefully when senku heals her, she'll continue lessons."
"y/n? is this the person you were apologizing for?" asked kirisame.
"she's better than all of us combined," is all kohaku said as her gaze stared at the direction of the ishigami village with a sparkling look in her eyes.
a small blush slowly flushed on kirisame's cheeks the more she stared at the way kohaku looked.
it was quite an intimate look that kohaku gave
kirisame noticed it was the same one she had gave to senku
after building the windmill, chrome looked around and wondered for senku
it took a while for him to figure out where the mad scientist could have gone, but he finally found senku
opening the door to the mobile lab, chrome immediately asked, "yo, senku, what the hell are you doing all by yourself?"
senku managed to let out a chuckle. "working on an exhilarating craft," he managed to say pass his crusty lips.
"oh, shit!" chrome screamed at the shocking sight of a dehydrated and crusty senku.
senku downed a few bottles of water which made his complexion slowly come back. he lets out an exhale after drinking. "completely forgotten about hydrating. got too used to having y/n take care of that for me," he absentmindedly mentions.
senku and chrome continued to talk about the plans that senku had for later during the night.
chrome could tell that senku missed you
how could he not have noticed?
everyone practically knows also!
senku always somehow mentions you at least once a day
he never thought senku could be so damn clingy...
it takes him back to the times he witnessed the two of you intimate moments
they really need to come and revive you already
he could never get used to that empty space next to senku
later at night, a small festival was being held at the beach
the lights dimmed, gaining the attention of all
"do you hear me, all?" chrome exclaimed from the speakers. "we're gonna show you something that's going to leave the whole of treasure island speechless and wanting more! rainbow bridge, max level!"
a few seconds later, fireworks shot out into the sky.
senku stared at the night sky that bloomed an array of fireworks, imprinting their colorful displays for all to see. his eyes glistened with nostalgia, a memory popping into mind.
"hey, senku, do you think you could show these back in mainland?" asked kohaku who now stood next to him.
senku turned to her, the memory fainting away. "maybe, we'll see," he replies.
"would you change your mind if i mention that you could see these again with y/n standing by your side next time?" she retorted.
he hummed. "i was just thinking about her," he revealed, quietly. "the first time she saw fireworks, she was with me and byakuya. i could already see her whining about not being there for the first fireworks in this stone world." he scoffs, then lets out a sigh. "fine, we'll do it again at mainland."
kohaku smiled a teasing grin.
a little later, after the firework show, senku stood in front of the treasure tree. he heard footsteps behind him that got closer, and closer. "why are you here?" he asked without looking back.
"just an early morning stroll," answered kohaku. "is it not the same for you?"
"thousands of years ago, byakuya and the other astronauts set foot here for the first time in an utterly deserted new world," senku quietly says as his eyes glistened. "though they've long since turned to dirt, aside from a few fragments of rock."
kohaku scoffs as she quickly and easily climbed up the tree. "that's not true!" she exclaimed as she walked over to where the treasure laid. "you, i, and everyone else will someday die and return to dust, but their will is passed down, refined, and carried on into the future."
senku stared at kohaku who now stood at the small entrance way of the treasure. "isn't that what humanity calls 'science'? that's what you and y/n taught me, senku," she says, looking down at him.
he chuckled, feeling a bit lighter. "yeah, that's right. we're going way farther than those goofy astronauts. we're going to the moon," he stated. "and y/n will be stoked to hear it; she always did love the moon."
kohaku jumped down from the top of the tree, now standing on an elevated root. "it's not true that byakuya and his team left nothing behind. in fact, they connected everything for us," she mentioned.
senku didn't reply, but instead added, "typical, i mean, he's always done the connecting."
kohaku didn't understand what senku had meant when he said that
there are many things about senku... about you that she doesn't know about
some day, she'd like to know more about the two of you
the perseus landed
people started talking about the missing cracks
chrome immediately showed the medusa
"does that mean that mean she'll finally wake up?" tsukasa asked, stepping forward.
senku chuckled as he walked down. "yeah, let's get her out of that damn cold sleep already. our hidden treasure of japan, y/n l/n." the scientist may have not said anything else regarding you after that, but they all knew how much he wanted you to stand next to him again.
"we say cold sleep, but really, we just froze her..." commented gen.
"yeah, like an ice cube," cackled senku. "i bet you she wasn't even asleep most of the time, but suffering from the cold. she hates the cold."
gen sighs at yet another tease towards you.
"that's not the real problem though, is it? you can always trust a sailor's gut," ryusui piped up, then his eyes narrowed on the scientist. "when ibara jabbed you... senku, given how pragmatic you are, you would have healed yourself immediately with the dr. stone set. am i right? yet the crack in your forehead is still there. in other words, you didn't use it. you saved it for... y/n. why?"
"oh right, you don't know, ryusui-chan?" gen asked. "y/n-chan and senku-chan are intertwined. of course, he'd rather heal his y/n-chan over himself."
some people silently laughed knowing that it's true. ryusui, however, looked shocked. there were many implications, but never a confirmation. senku didn't say anything regarding his relationship with you, though, instead he had a different reason.
"actually, the medusa is out of battery."
that gained everyone's attention.
"that thing runs on batteries?!" exclaimed taiju, next to senku.
senku chuckled. "dunno," he says. "and we don't exactly have the luxury of smashing it open to have a look-see inside. but it is using some kind of energy. the one thing that could never happen is for it to make energy out of nothing."
he turned his head to a certain girl. "kirisame," he called out. "is the petrification beam's area specified in radii?"
"yes, why?" she answered.
"when i stoned ibara, i specified five meters. but the petrification beam barely made maybe a meter and a half."
kirisame looked taken aback. "that's impossible!" she argued. "it's never deviated in size..." then her eyes dilated as some form of realization dawned onto her. "...it's out of energy?" she lets out in shock.
here they are in the cave where you were put to sleep
senku, chrome, kohaku, taiju, yuzuriha, gen, ginro, kinro, ryusui, nikki, ukyo, and matsukaze
chrome lifted the lid of the makeshift freezer making the cold fog explode that slowly dispersed to the floor, revealing your pale cold body.
senku walked over to stand next to you. he stared at you as his eyes glistened with memories. he absentmindedly raised his hand to your face, leaving a lingering touch. his thumb caressing your cold cheek.
the small intimate moment of affection really caught ryusui off guard
senku's eyes always held conviction
after all, his eyes are the most transparent part of him
yet ryusui never saw it that soft and so full of love before
he honestly thought that gen was messing with him
but this?
seeing it for himself really changed everything
kohaku approached and stood next to senku, holding the medusa. the two turned to each other, their eyes making contact. no words were exchanged. senku gave a nod as kohaku then bent down and placed the medusa in the space of your clasped hands.
taiju walked over and took senku's hand and placed it on top of yours. "senku! hold y/n's hand with all you've got!"
senku looked taken aback. "what?" he lets out.
"i see!" exclaimed kohaku. "if you hold her really close to the device, it might give her just a little more of the light."
"that's seriously not going to make a difference," senku retorted, but a small smile formed on his face. "fine, whatever, and if i get caught in the beam, it'll heal my wounds and cracks too; perfect."
yuzuriha then walked over, standing next to taiju. she placed her hand on his shoulder, giving him a smile. then she removed it and placed it on top of yours. kohaku and chrome, too, placed their hand on top of yours.
"one meter, one second."
the green light engulfed you as your skin slowly turned to stone. the others pulled back their hands while senku immediately took the vial of revival fluid and pours it on you. the stone skin cracked and fragments fell, both stone and ice.
you sat right up as you screamed, "senku!" then you stood up and out of the freezer, tackling him into a hug.
"did they hurt you?" he asked as he pushed away and cupped your face with one hand.
your eyes widen as a big smile formed on your face. the others were confused by what senku had meant. "no, no, i'm okay," you answered as you placed a hand over his. "did they hurt you?"
"who cares."
"i do!"
you and senku then bursts out laughing.
"sorry, what just happened?" gen managed to ask. "what was that?"
taiju and yuzuriha were chuckling as well. "every time they reunite, they always reference steven universe," yuzuriha explained. "i think it was one of the first things that y/n watched with senku."
"that gem cartoon from the states?" gen asks, but then he immediately hums afterwards. "no, wait, that makes sense."
you turned your head to kohaku with a smile and soft eyes. her eyes glistened as she stared at yours. you extended your arms as she ran into them. nuzzling her nose into your chest while you tightened your hold.
a second later, you pulled back and turned back to senku. "so what's our situation now?" you asked.
"she only just woke up," says matsukaze in awe.
"i've heard around that that's how she is," commented nikki. "always working like him."
"although, i think that she's more serious and formal than him," ukyo mentions. ryusui nods his head, agreeing with ukyo.
"we're attacking the moon!" exclaimed senku with a not-so-serious face.
you owlishly blinked at senku, then a huge excited toothy wide grin formed on your face. "ah! no way really?!" you squealed as you clasped your hands together which caught the others off guard. "senku, darling, it's your dream!" you engulfed the man into a tight hug that lifted him off the ground. if anyone caught onto that affectionate name, no one mentioned it.
he pushed you away. "we've got company, y/n, calm down," he tells you with a lazy smirk on his face.
"who cares about the company!" you retorted. "tell me: are we blowing up the moon?" you asked looking like a child that just got permission to do something they've always wanted to do.
"what?! no!" screamed out senku. "this is a mistake. maybe i should make tsukasa the soldier for the moon."
"wait, honey, no! i'm kidding!"
"i take back what i said," ukyo says in absolute awe and shock with ryusui, nikki, and matsukaze also looking hella shocked.
"yeah, my image of her is completely ruined," mentioned gen.
it was then you caught sight of new faces. "oh, hello," you formally greeted with a short bow. "i don't think i've met you guys yet. although, your face is familiar. i apologize, but could you relay your name to me again?" you gestures your entire palm at ryusui.
the four felt a wave of whiplash at the sudden change in tone and demeanor of the person in front of them; a very important person they may add.
"h-hello, i'm nikki," she greeted, really nervously.
"ah, you're the woman on the phone. i'm glad to see another woman on the battle team." you smiled at her as she nodded, freezing up and pink dusting her cheeks.
"i'm ukyo," he says, raising his hand up.
"yes! the one with good hearing. i'm pleased to see you on this side now," you tell him as he gave a loopy smile, his cheeks a bit faint of red.
"ryusui nanami," he bowed, taking your hand into his and giving a light peck on it.
your eyes widen at the familiar gesture and at the name. "ah, one of the sons of the nanami conglomerate," you acknowledged, then you realized something.
"wait!" you turned around to senku. "you guys built a boat?! just how many things did i miss?"
this time, gen spoke up, "i'll tell you all about it."
"hello, gen," you greeted with a slight smirk. "you're not walking on eggshells around me anymore," you stated as you looked him, up and down. "what changed?"
gen shook his head as he chuckled. "senku ruined your image for me," he says, making you coo.
"aw, senku, you still have that habit?"
"shut up."
this is when ginro decided to speak up. "senku, i just figured it out!" he exclaimed, his face being way too overly arrogant. "you hurried back to y/n because you were worried she was going to spoil in the freezer, right? i know you hate all that mushy stuff, though!" his elbow jabbing into senku's neck.
"he's absolutely tackless!" says kohaku.
"well, if he just wanted someone super strong, he could've taken my top student—i mean, guard, matsukaze-kun." ginro really got carried away.
matsukaze stared at you
he was wondering why you were considered the strongest
he honestly thought it was that tsukasa man
that man was trained to the absolute limit, he could tell with one look
but you?
you didn't look like you were trained like tsukasa was
he stepped towards you and gave a bow, staying in that position. "my name is matsukaze," he greeted. "y/n-dono, if it would be all right, i would like to challenge you once you are well."
you looked at the new face in glee. "oh? then how about now? let's go outside," you tell him. "oohh~ this is fun! i never had anyone challenge me before."
"gee, i wonder why," mused gen, already knowing the outcome of this fight.
matsukaze now understands why you're the strongest here and not tsukasa
you had defeated him with a single finger
a single finger that you used on his forehead to stop his lunge and forcefully push him to the ground
your leaking bloodlust and monotone stare caused him to freeze on the ground, too speechless and afraid to move
you blinked your eyes and your demeanor changed, reverting to what it once was before the fight. "oh my, i apologize, matsukaze," you tell him as you extended a hand to him. "you challenged me," is all you say.
he politely took your hand as you helped him up. he bowed down to you and say, "i am defeated."
"you're a very capable man, and i'm glad to have new members for the battle team," you tell him.
ginro is now humbled
"since the device is out of battery, senku's crack will never go away now," says suika as she walked over to in front of him
"no!" you exclaimed with a huff as if you were child who were having a tantrum.
people slowly turned to you. senku sighs, feeling like he knows what you're going to say.
"i like the stone cracks!" you announced as you walked over to senku. you then traced the lines on his forehead. "it gives him character and he looks... really... good with them."
"y/n..." senku called with a warning tone. "did that freezer like give you a damn concussion or something?"
you laughed as you just give him a hug. you arms around his shoulders, your head burying into his neck. he sighed and hugged you back with one arm that rubbed your back in a comforting way.
this is when gen was like "why should senku-chan get all the fun?" leading to everyone else getting back their petrification cracks
you included of course, after you had stopped clinging onto senku like a koala
although some people didn't forget the small public display of affection you and senku shared, in fact, it really caught them off guard
ukyo, ryusui, nikki, and tsukasa aren't used to it
you were acting like a clingy girlfriend that hadn't seen her boyfriend in months
and senku is acting like a boyfriend who's nonchalant about his girlfriend's clinginess, but everyone knows just how much he missed you!
two people with the most specific personality and a reputation to uphold, and yet here they are soft for each other
it's strange
but at the same time, it felt right
ukyo was down at the control room, double checking everything in case the islanders from treasure island had touched anything else
he thought no one else was on board besides some who would drop of supplies then leave afterwards
but then he heard you
...and senku
he looked around and saw that no one was on the surface, so the two of you were probably below nearby, in one of the rooms
"what was with you awhile ago?" senku asked.
"what do you mean?" you asked back.
"you..." ukyo could hear the hesitation in senku's voice. "did you not think that we... that i—!" a tremble in the scientist's voice. "were you... unsure of ever waking up?" he finally managed to ask. his voice whispering by the end.
a pause. all ukyo could hear was the breathing and the beating of two people. he could hear the anxiousness from each one.
"senku..." you called, softly in a whisper as well. "you need to understand that..." your voice trembling. "that i wasn't expecting you to find the medusa that quick. those months in the cold dark, i was preparing myself not to see you again for who knows how long."
you inhaled a shaky breath. your heart beating rapidly. "i know that those few months were nothing compared to the time we were apart in stone, but at least we both knew that the other was alive—!" your voiced cracked.
"just when you and i were together again, the stone world takes it away once more. how cruel is that?" you let out a shaky fake laugh.
"i could have died in my sleep, senku," you croaked out to him, sniffling and trembling. your breathing became rigid as senku's became heavy. you were probably crying at this point.
both of your hearts were beating so fast as well.
"no," senku says with full on denial. "no, y/n, you would have not died. y/n, you would have not fucking died!" he screamed out.
"what do you know?!" you screamed back at him. "i was the one in that damn freezer. i know what my body felt like throughout those damn fucking months. you know how my—" you took a deep breath. "my body felt like it was on it's way to death!"
"hah~ shit," you exhaled a shaky breath. "maybe i have already died, and i'm just wishing that you were next to me." a thud to the floor then rapid footsteps, ukyo heard.
"y/n, y/n, shit— don't do this— fuck! i'm here, y/n, i'm real. dammit y/n—! i'm right here!" senku screamed out in reassurance.
then ukyo heard a desperate kiss shared between the two.
ukyo left the perseus in a daze at what he heard
he could hear the emotions the two of you felt during the entirety of that
it was strong
to the point that he could feel it as well
"ukyo-chan?" called gen. "did something happen on the perseus? why are you crying?"
ukyo raised his hand and wiped his cheeks. it's true, he's crying. "um..." he hesitated. "senku and... y/n-san are..."
gen widen his eyes then it softened. "let's leave those two be for now," he says. "it must've been hard for them both. i've never seen them apart from each other for that long."
ukyo fully believes it now
that you two are together
even before the kiss had happen
masterlist ; loyalty built from love (part 1) a/n: i'm actually not as proud of this one compared to part 1, but that last bit? yeah, i like it part 3 will happen when the next season comes
