You know. I think I like G'raha for some of the same reasons people i know dislike him but likewise in the agreement on these facts is also why I dislike fandom G'raha. 'cause like. He isn't the same character as the Exarch. the G'raha we know and travel with in EW is not the same man as the Exarch, even with his memories, and I don't mean bc he's younger. like.

okay. I was raised on way too much sci-fi, okay? I got deep in it with paradoxes and time travel and alternate and parallel realities before i was 10. I had a lose grasp on certain quantum mechanics concepts at 13. you give me a time loop and I will immediately understand two things:

every loop is an alternate universe converging off of the same single point as there can be (are, depending) near infinite universes off of every single point in space (<- this is why AUs are called AUs after all) and thus

even if it's the same face, even if it's the same name. even if it's the exact same past up until now, even if everything is perceptibly the same, and this is crucial, they are not the same person.

This holds true, even in a closed paradox bc you now have a chicken and the egg scenario. Like we all kind of understand the grandfather paradox, we understand that if we kill our grandfather before the respective parent is conceived we couldn't have been born and thus couldn't kill him, ad nauseum. but even if you close it. Even if, say, you're your own grandfather, every loop something's going to change, even if it's not noticeable, even if it's not in your life. something is gonna change. A fundamental fact of how i understand the theory to work (granted I'm no scholar) is every time you go back in time you're not actually going back on your linear time, you're creating an alternate universe which will then be the universe you also fast forward through when you go forward in time.

That being said, the G'raha Tia that becomes the Exarch is not the G'raha Tia that we know, this is proven the fact that the G'raha Tia we know cannot go on to become the Exarch bc the Exarch did not live these post 5.3 experiences. And from there that means the Exarch also didn't come from the G'raha we knew in Crystal Tower. CT and EW G'rahas are the same. the Exarch is from a parallel reality G'raha that yanked us bc the us from his reality died before he woke up and that is how that reality will always play out and we just so happen to be from the reality he reaches into/splinters to save a future. not his future. the people of his future are far beyond his reach and have been since he traveled to the First.

And I think all of that is incredibly fascinating. Especially bc if the G'raha we know was the base of the Exarch you'd think, now that the Exarch's memories are part of him he'd act more like him. but it still doesn't sit right on his shoulders. bc it's not him. This is someone else. this is a role he can play, a mask he can slip into, a dance he knows. but it's not who he is. it's not where he's comfortable, like he was comfortable for 100 years. You see it in Thavnair, you see him steel himself for it. he sees what's happening and he knows what needs doing bc he's got the memories of managing a panicked peoples before in the middle of tragedy. But it's not him. The Exarch is a different man. And I wonder, desperately, how G'raha feels about that man.

yikes okay I wasn't gonna say anything ab this cause it's honestly petty as fuck but after a dear friend experienced something similar that escalated I am now paranoid so. If someone follows me and I see that they have reblogged from a certain Resident Evil artist, I will block them immediately. It is nothing personal. This certain artist just violated my privacy and trust and I am now scared that because I blocked them they will send followers after me like they did on twitter (which was. so. i watched shubble’s vod. i just feel so so sorry that she had to go through that but i’m glad she’s in a place now where she felt comfortable sharing her story. i truly believe it’s going to help so many people. there were parts of her story i could relate to and it was incredibly validating to hear that some of the things i went through were not okay. it’s been 4 years and i feel like over time i’ve tried to downplay exactly what happened. i’ve also blocked a lot of it out of my memory and genuinely can’t recall a lot of specific instances. but just hearing her put her experiences into words was so healing for me. i hope she feels all the love from her friends and fans and continues to heal and thrive. and i don’t know how likely this is, but i hope the person who hurt her never has the opportunity to hurt anyone ever again.

gonna vent a little below the cut:

thankfully i was never physically abused, but i was in an emotionally manipulative/borderline abusive relationship for about two months. thankfully my friends are incredible and helped me to see the red flags quickly so it didn’t last longer or progress more. but when shubble started talking about how this guy would say she was remembering things wrong and tell her she’s overreacting or being dramatic, that really hit close to home for me. because whenever my ex would do things that upset me and i called him out on it, he would say it wasn’t a big deal and i just didn’t know how relationships worked because i had never been in one before (at the time i was freshly 20 and he was 25).

also when shubble said she had to help this guy clean his house/do chores, and maybe he had never learned so she felt bad for him, i just flashed back to my ex telling me all of his childhood trauma, making me feel bad for him and like i couldn’t leave and break his heart. he admitted one of the reasons he started dating me was because he liked my family and wanted a replacement for his dysfunctional one. idk it’s a loose connection, but it’s interesting how abusers will make you feel sorry for them and sort of trap you in the relationship.

also the bit about the safe word. i laid out my physical boundaries very early on and he promised not to cross them and then he did multiple times. he would weaponize this. whenever i upset him by not texting him back immediately or had to reschedule a date because i was a busy college student, he would tell me i could make it better by offering physical affection. and i would do it bc he made me feel like i had done something awful when in reality no sane person would react like he had.

the part that made me really sick to my stomach was when shubble talked about how this guy pinned her down and told her to try to push him off and she couldn’t. and then he said she wouldn’t stand a chance against him in a fight. that is so unbelievably messed up. and all i could think of was the time i was at my ex’s apartment watching a movie and i fell asleep on his shoulder. and when i woke up he said “i can’t believe you fell asleep. i could have done anything to you and you wouldn’t have known.�� if a romantic partner is thinking about and telling you these things RUN VERY FAST IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. to this day i’m still so glad i didn’t date him for a longer amount of time, who knows what might’ve happened.

okay last thing. the part about shubble’s ex insisting that he loves her more than she does. it just brought me back to when i broke up with my ex and he insisted that no one would ever love me as much as him. there were no guys out there who were as good as him. and for the longest time i believed this. i internalized that i was unlovable, that i would never find a guy who would treat me right, that all men were terrible. and i was scared of dating for years after this because i didn’t want to go through all the anxiety and waking on eggshells and screaming my anger into pillows again. but over time i’ve been able to heal, thanks to family, friends, and my relationship with God. i’ve opened my heart up to the possibility of romance again. i haven’t dated anyone since i ended things with my ex, but i’m open to the idea. but i will not settle for anything less than what i deserve. shubble’s story has definitely contributed to my resolve.

It’s been quite some time since Bachira’s been hooked up to the machine. Bachira had never had so much fun in an interview before. He couldn’t wait to go home and tell you all about it and then watch it with you when it aired. But for now, he’d enjoy messing with his friends like this. And now that Kunigami was up next, he was looking forward to it even more.

didn’t want to rb this post directly partially bc i see/get the overall point and partially bc i don’t want ppl to be a dick to me if i say shit (n i def do not intend any ire/ill will to op; i am just adding my thoughts)

but anyway. while i again do see the point of the post (not all queer ppl are harmed the same way/amount by the govt & more specifically by the recent Executive Orders), i also with respect think that the assumption that they are only specifically about targeting trans women or protecting cis women from trans women is just untrue (smthn some ppl in the notes are also claiming).

the eo’s have language that is explicitly targeting / inciting violence towards trans women & this is undeniable. everything that mentions “protecting women from men” and keeping “males” out of “women’s spaces” is very deliberately about targeting and harming trans women. there is an entire section of one of the EO’s dedicated specifically to removing “males” (trans women) from women’s prisons, and this is horrific and violent. transfems also suffer from the effects of hypervisbility, making them very easy targets for enforcement of these laws and the language within them. all of that is true.

& also, it’s very untrue that these eo’s aren’t designed to harm other trans ppl and intersex ppl. i’m not even talking generally “oh these orders are about transphobia and so will harm all trans ppl”; there is specific language in them that is violent specifically towards intersex and transmasc ppl (in addition to the language that directly violently targets transfems) (none of which (transfem, transmasc, intersex) are mutually exclusive categories!).

the multiple eo’s concerning trans folks are rife with defining sex strictly as an immutable binary — the “immutable biological reality of sex” —“protecting sex-based distinctions,” (both quotes from the “defending women from gender ideology…” executive order) and deliberately codifying the erasure of any and all acknowledgment of sex outside of male/female is intentional, specific violence towards intersex people. this is deliberate targeting intersex people for violence and oppression (just as other parts of the same EO are deliberately targeting transfems).

there is also the entire EO for “protecting children from chemical and surgical mutilation”, which obviously is directed largely at any gender-affirming trans healthcare as a whole, but also very specifically names protecting against “female genital mutilation” — directly targeting transmascs, and ‘protecting’ cis women and girls from transmascs.

transmascs are very much also viewed as a threat to cis women and cis girls, painted as “corrupting,” “stealing,” and “mutilating” poor innocent young cis girls (or poor innocent cis lesbians, depending on the person wielding this rhetoric). transphobic rhetoric and anti trans laws are rife with this belief, deriding the “mutilation” of their idea of the “pure ideal female body,” the “hacking off healthy tissue” (re: top surgery), “testosterone poisoning” of girls, and the idea that trans men want to turn all young girls trans, want to turn all young lesbians trans — “i was a tomboy and if i were a kid today i would’ve been turned trans! they would’ve made me transition!” (this is also part of the driver of the incredibly high SA rates among transmasc ppl)

this EO is simply a codification of that view of transmascs as a threat to cis womanhood. this EO targets all trans people’s right to our own bodies and bodily autonomy, and this language specifically directly targets transmasc’s rights to their own bodies.

i do think it’s important to discuss that not all queer people are immediately impacted the same way by trump’s bigotry. i also think it’s incredibly disingenuous to ignore the parts of these laws which are deliberately targeting specific subsets of the trans and intersex community (including ignoring the parts that explicitly are about transfems!). all trans and intersex people are intentionally, directly, and explicitly targeted by the government’s bigotry and violence in different ways; none of it is incidental or unintentional. they are “protecting” cis women, or, the white supremacist status quo, from trans & intersex people — most especially nonwhite trans and intersex ppl.

He really appreciates everything you do for him

And figures he should prove it

He wants this to be special

Mhin receiving an unusually specific compliment. ᵕ ω ᵕ

“You're so fascinating, Mhin. If you wrote a book, I would definitely read it.  Even if you wrote the book about something really boring.  Even if you wrote…a dictionary, full of words I already know the meanings to.  I'd still read it, just because you wrote it.  Just to feel like I got to walk beside you in the world for a little while."

Mhin looks over at you despite themself. Your voice is low, tone affectionate difficult to parse over the incessant noise permeating the Wet Wick. They find themselves staring at your lips, as if to read your words despite hearing you clearly.

“You're really the most interesting person I know...  Which is saying a lot, in this city!”  You laugh at yourself, bandaged fingers trailing around the rim of the glass placed in front of you at the bar.  Your face is flushed, pupils dilated.  The longer they look at you, brows furrowed as they try to make sense of your words, the less you seem able to look them in the eyes.

The liquid in your glass is clear.  

Tequila?  Vodka?  Gin?  A stomach wrenching combination of all three, possibly.  Who knows what Leander was willing to put in front of you, if it makes you so…

Mhin huffs, mouth wrenching into a frown. They clasp a hand around the glass in front of you. "I think you've had enough." They must have gone (miraculously) nose-blind from the boozy scent of the Wet Wick because even as they slide the heavy tankard closer to themself, the pungent tang of alcohol is no more invasive than it was prior. They expected to be able to taste the fumes coming off of whatever concoction they just took from you.

"I'm--" You start to protest, but you find yourself cut off when Leander says something that causes the crowded bar to go wild, cheers erupting. One of the Bloodhounds jostles Mhin in their mirth, causing your confiscated drink to upend, contents sloshing over the surface of the bar and soaking the sleeve of Mhin's shirt.

It's water.

You were saying those things while sober.

Mhin's eyes find yours, no attention spared for the slurring Bloodhound beside them. You're looking at them affectionately, lips quirked.

"Would you be mad at me if I told you that you're too cute?" You ask, something far too warm, too inviting in your words.

Mhin is halfway across the bar in a heartbeat, burning red ears gone deaf to the sound of Leander's voice, calling out to them that they haven't picked their pay up yet. They'll get it tomorrow, they think, racing towards the respite of the fresh night air. Away from the urge to--

Mhin doesn't let themself turn to look back at you as they leave. Though they can't stop themself from wondering: if they did, would they see you staring back at them?

Damn Mhin just take the compliment. I made Mhin's about their brains instead of their looks etc. bc while I think mentioning wanting to kiss their beauty mark would fluster them I think this is the type of thing that would absolutely infect their brain.  Have them thinking about those words over and over until it completely ruins their nightly Soulless hunting; they give up & just stargaze all night.
