Sexypink - Refranes de mi Abuelita: Sayings of my Grandmother is a bi-lingual kaleidoscope of changing colors in the form of a coffee table book that encapsulates archives of knowledge and discernment from the campos of the Dominican Republic to the barrios of New York City.
This conceptual array of expressions is fused with mesmerizing artwork that illuminates the timeless folkloric maxims of Edward Paulino's abuelita with an indelible and undeniable Antillean vibrancy. Embark on the sensory charm of Scherezade García Vásquez's artistic production, where captivating images enhance the illusion and power of these sayings which served as abuelita's beacon of light and guiding code of honor; a righteous tradition weaving history and memory that molded and educated her family through generations, migration, and war.

Collective Portraiture/ New Salvation Series/The Great Spirit Native America(Large scale painting)“Currently, as a Latinx contemporary artist, my artistic practice is centered on the politics of inclusion. History plays a central role in my decoding and deconstruction of visual narratives of power. I engage in history and historical ethnography to pay close attention to traditions, practices, and dominant societal points of view to bring forth other voices visually.
I am naming my new Series Reframing American, and I seek to reveal forgotten histories that are essential to the understanding of Las Americas and the American experience that surrounds us today, an experience that is informed by the past through storytelling, artifacts, artworks, and writings.”As a Latinx contemporary artist, my work is concerned with creating narratives that are essential to the understanding of Las Americas and the American experience.

My work intends to unveil the many ongoing cultural encounters that continuously shape and reshape how we view, perceive, and color America. Her work is centered on the politics of inclusion. History plays a central role in her artistic practice of decoding and deconstructing visual narratives of power. I engage in history and historical ethnography to pay close attention to traditions, methods, and dominant societal points of view to visually bring forth other voices.
Through the deconstruction, the juxtaposition of symbols of constructed Americaness, nationhood, and freedom embedded in slavery and oppression, I aim to present the most outrageous signs of resistance through the mixing of race through a fierce Optimism.
In this Series, “Reframing America: New Salvation Series, my portraits are “collective” portraiture where a community is portrayed versus an individual portrait. It is in tune with my take on race.Race and the politics of color (formally and conceptually) are essential to my work. The cinnamon figure has been a constant in my trajectory since 1996. Mixing all the colors in a palette is an inclusive action; the outcome of such an activity is portrayed versus an individual portrait.
