ok so i braced myself and opened tumblr live (which finally appeared on my app also), just for once so I can establish my own opinion about it.

here is my opinion:

what the actual fuck is this. can i please make it disappear again or something.

It used to be that snoozing tumblr live removed that little live button, but I guess it can't be removed anymore and that really annoys me

Like pretty much everyone else, I’m pissed that the stupid “live” icon is hanging around on the mobile app with no means to hide it. The least they can do is get rid of the fucking “new” label. It’s not new. We’ve been complaining about “live” since like 87 memes ago. Sigh.

How to be an adult website while trying to ban adult content

So not only does the tumblr live strip on the top of the page make tumblr look like an adult website, the new layout makes it more difficult to see when the bots add you (and thus more difficult to report them), now there is apparently a function through which others can post video's on my feed?

Tumblr sure is going about it a funny way if they don't want explicit material on here....

If Tumbr is making it this easy for the bots and scammers we should at least be allowed 'female presenting' nipples or something on here for art purposes.

ok so they updated the “snooze tumblr live” thing so it’s for 30 days and not 7 (which is better) but now it only hides the widget from your home dash and not the whole tab, at least on mobile

Fucking Tumblr Live just showed up in my app, taking up the top of my feed and it's annoying af! It's also clearly all fucking porn!!

Most people hated Tumblr Live. It was horrible—being abused by bots, lagging and disturbing users dashboards/feeds. It caused crashes sometimes. It hardly worked at all…

Everyone is most likely happy to be seeing it go, especially mobile users. It made the app laggy. Let’s just say that I, myself, hated it for years. I am excited to hear it’s being shut down.

So Tumblr is shutting down Tumblr Live on the 24th. Fine with me, good riddance. I never liked it to begin with, I thought it was just another dumb gimmick to attract more users. So I'm glad it's finally getting nixed. RIP Tumblr Live, you will not be missed. By me, at least.
