Yesterday I've been browsing an ancient blog with lots of glorious Sherlock fanart and stuff to reblog and put it in my queue. I could not access their archive so I had to scroll by hand. After over an hour the joints of my index finger actually began to hurt and I stopped.

Opinion: You have no right to complain about characters' skin colors in RoP etc if you don't also complain about Aragorn and Boromir having beards in PJ's movies.

(The beard question is answered by the canon, the skin color is not, even for most of the canon characters) (not commenting about the story or anything else just the characters' looks)

The S.H.I.E.L.D. Codices: A Clear and Present Loki, 73K, by KhamanV. A post-A1 Loki joins AOS fic (which are quite rare!) It's part of a 513K series, which has sequel two series and a tie-in series, so if you like the first one, there's more. A lot more.

Redemption, 1K, by Riven214. Set in an extremely vague AU, the focus of this fic is mostly just bad things happening to everyone, featuring Loki&Coulson less as friends and more as allies. If you like angst, this is some of the only Loki&Coulson angst available.

Now here's the ones with Loki/Coulson romance in them. I'll describe exactly how much romance is in these and how relevant that romance is to the plot. And give them a rating out of ten, with 0 being no romance and 10 being nothing but romance.

The Cellist, 14K, by Elpin. A pre-A1 AU in which Loki comes to Earth early, and tries to infiltrate SHIELD by seducing Coulson (while shapeshifted into a mortal woman,) and then accidentally catches feelings. This one's got explicit sex in it, but both scenes are pretty short and not crucial to the plot, so you can skip over them if you want. Romance Rating: 10/10, it's pretty much exclusively romance focused, and that's the entire basis of the story.

The Weatherman, 4K, by CeliaEquus. An AU where everything is the same, except the AOS cast, who are now meteorologists. The Loki/Coulson subplot is minor and one-sided, but it's there. Romance Rating: 6.5/10. It's only a small section of the fic that's not really relevant to the overall plot, but it's in most of Loki's appearances.

Fate Has a Twisted Sense of Humour, Part Two, Chapter 5, by CeliaEquus. It's a soulmate AU, which to be honest I'm not fond of, but it's a popular trope and there's a bunch of them. Post-A1, Loki gets his soul stolen (which results in him losing his emotions) and Coulson is his soulmate, which is an awkward situation all around. Romance Rating: 3/10. A pretty small part of the story, all things considered. It's a pre-relationship fic, so you can imagine they stay platonic if you want, but them being soulmates is very relevant to the plot.

Fate Has a Twisted Sense of Humour, Part Two, Chapter 34, by CeliaEquus. Yes, same fic, different chapter (and thus entirely different story.) Set post-A1, the AOS team (and some other, less relevant people) have to flee to Asgard, where a bunch of stuff happens, including them finding our that Coulson and Loki are soulmates, which basically nobody is happy about. Coulson/Loki is one of four featured ships in this chapter, but it gets a fair amount of focus. Romance Rating: 8.5/10. It's a soulmate AU, so it's not like their relationship develops naturally, but it's absolutely the main focus of the story. (The parts of the story that Coulson and Loki are in, anyway.)

Made another new friend in Genshin but man it made me realize I'm no longer cut out for this human interaction stuff. Like it's cool to talk to people, especially ones I get along with and have stuff in common with, but I don't wanna add people on discord immediately and join servers they're in and look at videos they send me and play other games with them. Like basically "You're not getting me to a secondary location" ya know??? Like on here it's slow progression of interaction that becomes messaging that leads to all sorts of other friendship stuff and that's awesome, but stuff that takes up all my time to do other things I don't wanna do is like. Lila has Adrien’s Amok

I rewatched it in English today, and I was most obsessed with the rings because Felix giving back the ring to Gabriel didn’t make sense to me, and I kept wondering which ring he even gave to Gabriel. The one he stole in S3 or the one Nathalie was wearing? 

So, Felix gets up to “go to the bathroom”. Nathalie is still wearing the ring. 

Then, when Ladybug shows up to recruit “Adrien”, Felix is just coming out of the bathroom. He never sat back down. He never had an opportunity to steal it again after the scene that shows that she still had it.

Don’t You Know People Care About You?

Summary: Adrien is the target of the akuma of the day and has been unable to get away to transform. Carapace is trying to protect him, but Adrien doesn't make that easy. Adrien keeps trying to sneak away or worse, throw himself into the battle. This pisses Carapace off. An Adrino one shot!

Getting the wind knocked out of you was never fun. Adrien unfortunately had more experience with the sensation than he wanted, but usually he at least had the protection of his transformation. 

But today, he was not so lucky. Today, the akuma was his photographer - pissed at Adrien’s subpar performance, and he hadn’t been able to sneak away to transform under the akuma’s relentless assault.  

“You okay, dude?” Carapace asked, climbing off of him, holding a gloved hand. 

Adrien took his proffered hand with a grunt, and allowed himself to be hauled to his feet. He didn’t get a chance to catch his breath as the projectiles continued to fly overhead. The car beside them was hit sending it blasting into bits. 

Yikes. 

But he didn’t have time to contemplate the near miss. He was being shoved down to the ground, then hauled right back up to his feet, and then pushed into a sprint. 

Carapace took a hit and stumbled to the ground, clutching at his right knee. 

“Keep going!” Carapace barked.

But Adrien ignored him, instead dropping to the ground under the next flash of blue, and rolled to Carapace’s side and wrapped the green armored arm over his shoulder, and dragged his unknowing teammate into an alleyway, cursing that Carapace had already wasted his shelter on Adrien at the beginning of the assault. 

All he had done was prevent Adrien from getting away to transform.

Adrien hauled a limping Carapace into cover into an alleyway. They should have been hit, but the shots had stopped. Adrien risked a glance backwards, and breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of Ladybug engaging with the akuma. 

Carapace’s shield was beeping rapidly now. 

Adrien turned his back to his protector, and poked his head out of the alleyway. He searched rapidly for any cover - any tiny hiding spot he could use to transform, but there was nothing. He had just stuffed Carapace into the only one close enough.  

Ladybug made an impossible dodge flipping backwards, but in the process lost her footwork.

A flash of green in his peripherals told him Carapace had just lost his transformation. And he was injured anyway. 

Adrien didn’t think. He never thought during akuma battles. He pushed off the corner of the building like an olympic runner coming off a starting block straight for Ladybug.

“Dude!” Carapace shouted behind him. “What are you doing?!” 

Adrien only had eyes for Ladybug though. He slammed into her hard, knocking the wind out of his chest for what had to be the third time in the last twenty minutes. The sizzle of the crackling blue ball of electricity whipped a hair's width from his ear. 

He turned automatically with his arms circled protectively around her as he fell to his back taking the brunt of the impact with the ground. 

Her blue eyes blinked at him in shock for a split second before she sprang back to her feet with her yoyo spinning in a shield. He tried to follow suit, but the world spun around him. 

A shimmering green shield manifested around him a few seconds later, and Adrien let his head fall back to the cement.

The battle wrapped up in just a few minutes at that point. The healing ladybugs flew past, and Adrien breathed a sigh of relief as the throbbing in his head vanished like it had never been. He sat up immediately. Ladybug was comforting the akuma victim, though she glanced over at him. He waved back reassuringly. He was fine. 

The shield dissolved and Carapace landed in front of him with a scowling face of displeasure. Adrien wanted to laugh.

“What the fuck was that?!” Carapace demanded. 

“I was helping?” Adrien responded meekly. 

“You shouldn’t have been helping! You’re a civilian! And this time the akuma’s target!”

Hot take: Charon is not a moon of Pluto.

Instead, Pluto and Charon are, collectively, a dwarf double-planet that share four moons.

I personally don't think that's a controversial take at all. Charon definitely does NOT purely orbit Pluto, but rather Charon and Pluto each orbit the center of mass between them (which is closer to Pluto because it is bigger), which qualifies them to be a binary system.

And those four moons don't orbit Pluto either. They orbit the center of mass created by Pluto and Charon.

Stuff you read might say otherwise, but I think this would just be due to the fact that we didn't have a clear picture of the Pluto system until 2015 when the New Horizons probe got there to take a closer picture, and we may not have realized before that Pluto-Charon system was a binary system. And it takes awhile for all the textbooks to get updated and for even people in the field to be aware of the reclassification.

Seriously!! Look at those moons!! They are crazy!

The Earth-moon system is actually ALMOST a binary system as well, but the center of mass between the earth and the moon is still within the earth so it doesn't qualify as a true binary system. BUT it is the center of mass (the yellow dot in the first picture below, and the green star in the second) of the Earth-moon system that orbits the Sun. The earth kind've wobbles around that point as we make our way around the sun.

Qilin - Another Powerful Episode

I connected to this episode on a personal level so much!

Look teens are wonderful! I love them SO MUCH. And clearly so does Sabine. Look at the way she sets everything up for Marinette in the morning! And then oh so patiently reminds her of all the things she needs to remember, KNOWING Marinette isn’t going to remember. And then when she’s right and Marinette doesn’t, there’s no anger or frustration. Only fond exasperation and the ability to cover for her. It’s beautiful!!

At another point in the episode, Marinette was talking to Tikki about wanting to be more like her mom and just not feeling like she was there yet. And then a few minutes later we saw Sabine pulling off a lucky charm worthy scheme with a paintbrush to make the world a better place! Showing us quite beautifully where Marinette gets her crafty creative mind and her sense of fairness and justice. Showing us that she’s already a lot like her mom even if she’s a little less polished. Again! SO BEAUTIFUL!!!

My #1 post of 2022

My three year old daughter came home with a Minnie Mouse figurine, distraught. The plastic toy was missing an arm, and my daughter insisted she couldn’t play with it because it was broken.

I told her that she could still play with it! That some people were born without an arm or that they might get hurt and lose an arm, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t still play or have fun. I explained that some people might get a prosthetic or just have a stub. And she asked what a prosthetic was. I showed her a picture and she was like, “oh! A robot arm!”

When my husband came home, she thrust the toy at him and told him, “Minnie needs a robot arm.”

He was very confused, but he prints and paints miniatures from various table top games. My daughter refers to them as “daddy’s statues.” She knew he could help Minnie. So he dutifully printed her out a robot arm from a warhammer 40k model on our 3d printer, and then they painted it pink and purple together.

All of this to say, look at Minnie Mouse and her new prosthetic!!
