when will our DMs come back from the war (Tumblr randomly deciding we need to "verify" the exact same email address we've been using since we signed up for this godforsaken webbed site in 2012, without actually sending us a verification email.)

Headcanon Mod Nicest always has comical bandages on their first for fist fights, but theyre just actually to play with
Headcanon for Mod Miss Problimatique is they're great with decorating cookies ✨
Lol. Mod Niecest's hands are bandage free, sadly. Mod Niecest doesn't get into a lot of fist fights. Which is sad because Mod Niecest could use the training before she goes to fight G-d. ~ Mod Niecest

It's Time To Investigate SevenArt.ai
sevenart.ai is a website that uses ai to generate images.
Except, that's not all it can do.
It can also overlay ai filters onto images to create the illusion that the algorithm created these images.
And its primary image source is Tumblr.
It scrapes through the site for recent images that are at least 10 days old and has some notes attached to it, as well as copying the tags to make the unsuspecting user think that the post was from a genuine user.
No image is safe. Art, photography, screenshots, you name it.
Initially I thought that these are bots that just repost images from their site as well as bastardizations of pictures across tumblr, until a user by the name of @nataliedecorsair discovered that these "bots" can also block users and restrict replies.
Not only that, but these bots do not procreate and multiply like most bots do. Or at least, they have.
The following are the list of bots that have been found on this very site. Brace yourself. It's gonna be a long one:

The oldest ones have been created in March, started scraping in June/July, and later additions to the family have been created in July.
So, I have come to the conclusion that these accounts might be run by a combination of bot and human. Cyborg, if you will.
But it still doesn't answer my main question:
Who is running the whole operation?
The site itself gave us zero answers to work with.
Tumblr media
No copyright, no link to the engine where the site is being used on, except for the sign in thingy (which I did.)
Tumblr media
I gave the site a fake email and a shitty password.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Turns out it doesn't function like most sites that ask for an email and password.
Didn't check the burner email, the password isn't fully dotted and available for the whole world to see, and, and this is the important thing...
My browser didn't detect that this was an email and password thingy.
Tumblr media
And there was no log off feature.
This could mean two things.
Either we have a site that doesn't have a functioning email and password database, or that we have a bunch of gullible people throwing their email and password in for people to potentially steal.
I can't confirm or deny these facts, because, again, the site has little to work with.
The code? Generic as all hell.
Tumblr media
Tried searching for more information about this site, like the server it's on, or who owned the site, or something. ANYTHING.
Multiple sites pulled me in different directions. One site said it originates in Iceland. Others say its in California or Canada.
Luckily, the server it used was the same. Its powered by Cloudflare.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do with any of this information.
If you have any further information about this site, let me know.
Until there is a clear answer, we need to keep doing what we are doing.
Spread the word and report about these cretins.
If they want attention, then they are gonna get the worst attention.

im fully on board with the fact that this website needs an actual way to make money because the Free Websites Forever era is functionally over but every time i see a post where brick watson or whatever the fuck does an off-brand pale imitation of a 2017 mcelroy bit about how quirky and 3AM dennys parking lot it would be to buy a water bottle i change my mind and pray for tumblr to go bankrupt and also maybe get seized by the FBI

"You have my most sincerest apologizes if my compliment felt like a prank, that was never my intention at all." Argenti was silently confused; he didn't think his words were inconsiderate but the Knight did try to take this interaction as a learning experience.
Tumblr media
"In regards to the Knights of Beauty, there is no longer a 'kingdom' to defend in an official capacity... the homeland was lost." he didn't really know how else to explain the situation without diving into mentioning war and the Omen of Evil. Neither were topics he was fond of speaking about, memories he would rather forget.
"As for what I do. I travel the universe seeking the Aeon of Beauty, Idrila ~ while offering my assistance to help those I meet along the way in any way that I can... my wish, to protect the beauty within this universe from those that seek to destroy it." Argenti added.
Tumblr media
"W- well be more considerate with your words! E- even if y- you're speaking from the heart supposedly, I- I thought it was just a prank!" She exclaims before heaving a heavy sigh. Of exhaustion. "Hmph! I forgive you!" She exclaims, taking more moments to regulate her heart... and taking her eyes off him certainly helps a lot!
After a moment or two, not making any eye contact, Privaty asks, "So, what do you knights do exactly? I- is there a kingdom you call home?"

I keep seeing post after post that I know has been described in the past, but where the ID simply will not load in the notes, even if you sort by "comments only." And it's not just old posts — I've even seen this happen to an ID that I wrote less than three months ago, which is just absurd.
Because Tumblr isn't gonna fix their shit, this is (first of all) part of why editing IDs into the original post is important, when someone in the notes provides one. Even on a functional website, it would still be more convenient for screen reader users to not have to hunt through the notes — but as it stands, IDs can fully be lost to the void on a post that should've been accessible.
Second of all, for those of us who come across IDs without looking in the notes for them, I think it might be prudent to start checking if those IDs are actually still showing up in the notes? I know that's a habit that I'm going to try and start building, when I see an ID on my dash or while scrolling through an accessible blog. I already copy IDs when they've been buried in the notes, but with IDs flat-out disappearing, redundancy is even more important.
If you're a person who has a hard time writing IDs yourself, but is trying to help make your online space more accessible, this is something you can keep an eye on and help with. I can't speak for every ID writer, but I strongly encourage my IDs being "stolen," and every other ID writer I know feels the same.

Hi, for the post "Songs by Language" i clicked the options for the language I'm interested in but it gives all the posts but not with the songs. Maybe it's a problem for the mobile version (I have the app on my phone), I just want to let you know this problem. Sorry to disturb you, have a good day
All links leads to the archive to make it easier to get a quick overview (?) of it all instead of just scrolling through each and every one of the posts.
That's so strange if the app won't allow you to access the archive??? D: because it's one of the best features here!
tumblr is such a fully functioning website app.

Damn okay, it's a private post which I thought worked if you linked it?? So idk why it isn't??
Gimme a sec to try and sort this out
I don't know if you knew or not but the link to your muse list is broken 👉👈
Hi anon, thanks for letting me know! Unfortunately, I'm able to see my muse list on both the mobile app and my phone's internet browser, so if some other folks can tell me if they can or can't see my muse list, it would be appreciated!
It's linked on my pinned post!

Interest check
Hi, just doing an interest check for an idea we have about making a DS9 anon kink meme! A kink meme is an ongoing prompt event where people can anonymously request fics and others can choose to anonymously fill any prompts they feel inspired by.
See below the poll for our initial thoughts on pros and cons and considerations.
On ao3 we could very easily set up a prompt collection open for anyone to add prompts or fill prompts anonymously. But we don’t know how easy it is to maintain momentum on an ao3 prompt collection. Maybe that doesn’t matter and it can be an ephemeral thing until people forget about it and it becomes inactive, and then the next generation of folks in the fandom can start up their own new one in a few years haha. If we do it on ao3, should we make subcollections for individual “seasons” or “rounds” (there would likely be no actual deadlines, it would just be whatever length of time it takes for the list of prompts to get too long and unwieldy to be usable), or should we have people put all the prompts into a single collection that just grows and grows and grows?
On dreamwidth there would be comment threads so there would be a way to anonymously register enthusiasm for a prompt even before it gets written, which seems really good for encouragement and feeding off of each other’s hype. (Dreamwidth might also tell you when new comments are added to the community, unlike prompt collections on ao3?) But we are less familiar with dreamwidth so we aren’t sure there’s enough ds9 fandom hanging out there (or willing to make an account there) to sustain it over there.
Tumblr doesn't seem like an option for a number of reasons (can't post fully anonymously to tumblr except via asks, and having everything be done via asks would make it difficult to organize and connect prompts with fills because to keep them both anon they'd have to be separated, and tumblr is a website with a famously terrible search function).
If a DS9-focused kink meme already exists, we’d love to hear about it! We’ve found a few seemingly inactive ones in our research. But if there’s an active one out there, we could absolutely just pivot to supporting/participating in that, instead of making our own thing and dividing up the fandom’s energies. (Another question we don’t know the answer to: Is it possible/desirable to work on reviving one of those inactive ones, just by encouraging a collective effort to start participating in one again? Or do we think the mods of these inactive ones have abandoned them and might be stressed out to suddenly see new activity?)
If you have something to say but don’t want to say it publicly, we also have an anonymous, slightly expanded google form version (that can be found in our pinned post) with space to leave freeform feedback. You can vote in one or both forms of this poll, depending on what you feel like.
We’d very much appreciate reblogs to spread this poll around since we just made this account, but no pressure to do so. We still want your vote in the poll if you’re interested in this idea, even if you don’t want to reblog a post about it. <3
Anyway, if you have any thoughts on this DS9 kink meme idea (or messages of encouragement!!!), please feel free to send them in! <3

One thing I don't really see people talking about, is how fast AO3 is. You open the website and in half a second it's fully loaded. You can't do that with other websites: try out Tumblr, Facebook, Bluesky, or anything else.
AO3's speed is not because they have particularly fast servers. It's simply because they want to build a website for the users. That means no ads, no trackers (!), no complicated algorithms to recommend you stuff based on a large dataset detailing who you are, no unnecessary images... just a functioning website. Just what's necessary. And that speeds things up.
