Hi there, do you have a format for requesting event boosts and/or reblogs?

Hello! No, we really don't have a format, though we do have several methods.

TAGGING: Theres the easiest (but riskiest) method of tagging us in the blog post of whatever you want to promote (risky because Tumblr recently sent me a notification for a tag from 7 years ago) but don't panic if we don't reblog right away. I almost ALWAYS get tagged or notified when i'm sleeping or at work, and i put things in a queue unless it's time sensitive so i don't flood the feed if i have a bunch at once. give us 24 hours than totally reach out to us again with one of the other 2 methods

ASK BOX: Just like this of course. If you can give me enough info (Or even a link which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't) to find the post you're looking to promote, i won't publish the ask itself, but look for the post in question

SUBMISSION: This ones the finickiest. It is completely unreachable via mobile, so there will ALWAYS be a delay until i can get back home (remember, i always seem to get tagged when i'm sleeping or at work. i'm lucky like that :D)

Also, its important to keep in mind that a Submission is ACTUALLY a post. if it's formatted to be just the event, then I can just hit post. if it's got extraneous stuff like that has nothing to do with the challenge you're submitting i'll ignore the submission to find the event instead and reblog that.

Whatever works best for you in reaching out to me is fine. The only thing i ask is to please not spam me with requests through all the methods if i don't respond right away. Like I said, my timing doesn't match up with most people, so there will always be some sort of delay. give it 24 hours and then poke me/try again.

I'm very awkward and shy, though am quiet unless something pipes my interest. Once people get pass that, i'm friendly and rambley though am chill and go with the flow, though am insanely forgetful and will repeat myself. I'm pretty affectionate, once i get comfortable with the person. I'm a lover of silly stuff like puns, and jokes. I don't do well with a big crowd >_> so yeah, if the person is high energy or likes to exercise i may not fare well. @-@ i'm very low energy and get spook by loud noises easily. :D I like to bake! and garden, love seeing others flower garden, i'm a massive star gazer fan though don't have the time to do it often. Coal is a very friendly, somewhat subdued monster. He would be an excellent partner for spending relaxing time together, and would likely be able to coax out your friendlier side pretty quickly! He’s the type of person that others (who aren’t judgmental of his appearance) come to find themselves at ease around.

Coal is blind, but he doesn’t let that stop him from enjoying life on the surface! He would love to listen to you talk about any and all of your interests, and he enjoys baking and gardening a lot, too! While he may be exuberant at times, he also has a very low social battery, and a handful of health problems that prevent him from being too active, so he’d certainly love that he feels he can slow down with you, and doesn’t need to push himself to seem more energetic as he often does around others to come across as “less intimidating”. He’d especially love sitting out in the grass on warm days and just talking or dozing with you.

He loves astronomy, so even though he can’t stargaze himself, he’d love to spend time with you while you do and tell you all sorts of space facts, or listen to your own! Similarly, he’d love to listen to you play video games, or talk with you about sea life, maybe the two of you could even make trips to the beach! He loves new places and new experiences, but his discomfort around others prevents him from seeking them out himself. It would certainly put him at ease to be there with you, and just make it a happier experience overall!

Even despite what he’s been through, and his at times somewhat odd behaviors, Coal is very kind and curious. With time, would learn to open up with you and not just become an excellent partner, but a true friend!

Preternatural Bandom Challenge 2022!!!

Hi, all! 

We’re happy to announce that the Preternatural Bandom Challenge (a challenge concept that was initially held on livejournal in 2010) is returning for the second year in a row! It was such a fun challenge last year that we wanted to bring it back and give more people the chance to participate. This year’s PBC will run from now until October 7th at 11:59pm EST!

To quote the 2010 livejournal description, this challenge is for “bandom AUs involving supernatural, preternatural, unnatural, or magical creatures.” This obviously gives any interested participants a HUGE range of topics to write about! Participants in the past have written everything from ghosts and vampires to eldritch beings and aliens, so the sky’s the limit! Let your imagination run wild. We’re so excited to see what you come up with!

Rules and Guidelines:

Sign-ups open July 11th and close August 31st at 11:59pm EST.

PBC 2022 is 18+. You must be 18 by the time sign-ups close in order to participate in this year’s challenge.

All fics should be at least 5k words long, bandom-centric, and aligned with PBC’s theme.

Absolutely no incest/underage explicit/non-con content allowed. Any submissions that include this content will be deleted from the PBC 2022 Ao3 collection.

All mature/upsetting content must be properly tagged.

All participants must have an Ao3 account in order to post to the challenge collection.

While we’ll keep all participants updated on our tumblr and twitter accounts, we highly encourage everyone involved in PBC 2022 to join our discord server! We’ll use the server to send out push notifications of important announcements/updates, as well as give participants a space to create and build community while the challenge is running. I'm sorry for this but I'm new to the OCtober thing and I just wanna know how it works? Like, how...? I'm sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm just lost. (´･_･`)

Hi anon! Basically OCtober is a challenge that takes place every October where creators make one new thing relating to their OCs every day of the month (Check out my longer definition here). It’s not a competition and you don’t have to share your work to participate, but it does make things more fun! 

Usually blogs that run OCtober have their own rules, but in general they’re pretty straightforward. I’ll be talking about participating in those that have a day-by-day prompt list (like mine!)

General Rules/Etiquette:

Starts on October 1st (many blogs will post their prompt lists early to give people a head start, but won’t take submissions or reblog content earlier than the specified day)

Each prompt is associated with a specific day, and creators will post their response to prompts on the assigned day (example: my day 1 prompt is “Sunrise”, so creators should use this prompt on October 1st. Day 2 is “Mercy” and should be for October 2nd, etc)

You can take prompts as literally or figuratively as you’d like. They’re meant to be jumping off points more than themes

You choose the medium! Some past examples: Fics, sketches, comics, moodboards, role play, OOC contemplation, quick character notes. So long as it contains your OC, it’s fair game

Posts should include:

LOVE ISLAND CHALLENGE: CASTING CALL

That’s right, you heard it here first - from the people who brought you Big Brother, we present yet another summer obsession: the Love Island Challenge! Has it only been about a month since I finished BB? Yep. Should I be taking on yet another huge project that will take a lot of planning and late nights of building storylines? Probably not. Am I still doing it? Hell yeah.

This will be quite the large casting call for what I have planned: I’ll be accepting 28 sims in total for this challenge! The game will begin with 10 initial sims entering the villa, with the remaining cast being released into the house in waves: as sims are eliminated, new players will enter the house in their place. About halfway through the game, the islanders will be met with their biggest test of the summer when we open Casa Amor, placing 12 sims from our cast pool into the game for a chance at love. 

As always, I’m looking to have a diverse cast with lots of varying backgrounds and personalities. And while the original Love Island focuses primarily on straight couplings, I’m looking to break that here by accepting all sexualities! As long as your sim is a young single, looking to mingle, they’ve got a chance at love!

Great info to include in your submission is:

Basic Bio: Introduce your sim (name, age, traits, gender, sexuality, race, hometown, occupation, etc.)

Personality Type: Give me a general feel for your sim’s character (outgoing, shy, serious, goofy, friendly, mean, etc.)

Relationships Back at Home: Who are the most important people in your sims life? (parents, siblings, children, etc). All potential islanders should technically be single (so no secret marriage scenarios please lol), but if your sim has any ex-relationships or situationships they’d like to talk about, feel free to share!

Their Intentions: Though this is “Love Island” not everyone may be here for love; some islanders will be looking for “the one,” while others may just be looking for some fun, and there may even be some looking specifically to get that cash prize. What led your sim to apply to the show and how will your sim play the game?

Backstory and Random Facts: Anyone who’s familiar with my last challenge knows I’m a sucker for a good backstory! You can be as simple or detailed with this as you please: any extra info given about your sim will aid me in writing dialogue and creating storylines for the posts.

Please keep any CC used on your sim (besides skin details) limited to their everyday wear, and Maxis Match. I’ll be applying my preferred defaults (eyes, detailed feet, etc.) to the sims and dressing them with my CC catalogue to blend to my posting style. Dress all remaining categories with DLC (I have all packs except for MFPS so go crazy), that way I have a sense of their style!

Submissions will stay open until Saturday, June 27, 2020, 11:59PM EDT, or until I have enough submissions to begin. RULES:

For the challenge I will be using a version of the rules that I’ve tweaked from Scarlet-V’s original Love Island Challenge rules as well as @everfallsims Love Island Challenge rules. I’m aiming at playing my challenge as close to how the show is done, so check out the rules below to get a feel for how this will go:

Coupling Up:

For my version of the challenge, coupling ceremonies will take place under a predetermined schedule (which I will release once the challenge begins), and will alternate by gender for who will be choosing each time - so if the girls are choosing during the first coupling, the boys will be choosing the next time.

Sims will choose who to couple up with one by one at the coupling ceremony, and order of choice will either be determined by random draw or by viewer vote, depending upon the stage of the game.

Sims will couple up based upon who they have the highest romance level with. In the case an islander is choosing between sims they have no romance level with yet, they must choose the sim with the highest friendship level.

The first two coupling ceremonies will be heterosexual pairings only (for logistical reasons) but after that point, all genders will be able to couple up with whoever they like.

Once a sim is chosen to couple up with, they are no longer an option to be chosen. Couplings remain until eliminations and recouplings.

Recouplings:

Recouplings will happen on a predetermined schedule (again, to be released when the challenge begins) and will be an opportunity for pre-existing couples to continue getting to know each other, or for islanders to pursue new relationships.

Any new islanders will get the first choice at the recouplings.

If an islander’s first choice has already been chosen by someone else, they’ll have to choose an islander they have the next highest relationship with. Consequently, if a sim’s first choice is stolen away by another sim, they will lose some relationship with each other. This could lead to some sims having negative relationships with each other (who doesn’t love a little drama lol).

Eliminations:

Eliminations will take place under a predetermined schedule (again, to be released when the challenge begins). There will be three different types of eliminations: single eliminations, couple eliminations, and bottom two eliminations.

Single eliminations will take place when there is an odd number of islanders inside the villa. On a recoupling night when this is the case, one of the villagers who is not picking for the night will be at risk for going home.

Couple eliminations will get rid of a full couple from the game, in order to start whittling down the numbers for our potential winners. These eliminations can happen at any recoupling ceremony, and the decision will rest on either the relationships of the islanders, or on a viewer vote.

Bottom two eliminations will get rid of the two least popular islanders, from the two couples that have the lowest relationship levels with one another. This can take place at any recoupling ceremony and the decision will rest on a viewer vote.

Challenges:

Challenges will be an opportunity for islanders to win dates with other islanders, which will be key to advancing their romance outside of the villa.

Between each coupling ceremony, the sims will participate in skill based challenges. In gameplay, the challenge winners will be based upon one in-game day’s worth of skill building, with the sim(s) with the highest skill level winning the prize for the day.

Because of this, all sims skills will be set to 0 at the beginning of this challenge to give everyone a fair shot, but you can still influence what challenges your sim will be good at through their traits!

Dates:

There will be several different kinds of dates that the islanders will have a chance to go on: speed dates, solo dates, and the hideaway.

Speed dates will take place the day that new islanders are introduced into the villa, allowing the new sims a chance to get a feel for who they might want to couple up with. Speed dates can (but might not always) lead to an opportunity for the new islanders to ask their favorite islanders on a solo date, to get to know them even better.

Solo dates are just what they sound like - one on one outings for two sims to get to know each other. Solo dates will be earned by winning challenges, winning a viewer vote, or catching the eye of a new islander. Also, solo dates are not limited to sims who are already partnered up - so this is the prime chance for sims to drive a wedge between a relationship and shoot their shot!

The Hideaway is the ultimate date to win in this game. This is a fancy, romantic suite located in the villa, which will only open several times throughout the game, and will only be accessible to one couple at a time for one night. In the Hideaway, everything goes, and it’s the prime chance for a couple to take their relationship to the next level. Islanders will have the opportunity to win a night inside the Hideaway either through winning a challenge or winning a viewer vote. Unlike speed dates and solo dates, this is only open for sims who are currently coupled up.

Casa Amor:

Halfway through the challenge, Casa Amor will open, giving the islanders even more opportunities to find love with someone new:

The remaining islanders will be split between the original villa and Casa Amor, and will meet 6 new islanders each, who they could potentially recouple with.

The islanders will participate in challenges, speed dates, and solo dates as usual as they get to know their new roommates.

After several days away from their current partners, the original islanders must decide whether they want to stay coupled up with their current partners, or if they want to be recoupled with one of the new islanders.

Any of the new islanders who are not chosen to be coupled with will be immediately eliminated. Any of the old islanders left single will be at risk of being eliminated.

Viewer Votes:

Throughout the challenge, viewers will get the opportunity to influence the game through a series of polls. Advantages that viewers will be able to deal out will include:

First pick at recouplings

Solo dates

Hideaway access

Viewer votes will also come into play when it comes time to start determining which players should stay in the game.

How to Win:

The challenge will continue until there are four couples remaining. Of those four, it will be down to a viewer vote which of the final pairings should win the $100,000 grand prize. As consolation prizes, the second and third place winners will win $50,000 and $25,000 dollars respectively (sorry fourth place lol).

After the winners are determined, the final test of whether this was true love will come in the form of the money envelopes. Both sims will receive an envelope each - one will have the cash prize inside, and the other will be empty. Whoever receives the envelope with the money will have to decide to either share the money with their partner or take the cash and run. This final decision will come down to a combination of storytelling and whether the sim ended up with a partner they loved more than anyone else in the villa.

And that’s it! I may tweak these rules slightly as I begin playing, especially once WW interactions come into play, but this should cover most of our bases for the time being. Let me know if you have any further questions, and I hope you’ll consider submitting a sim!

-Some skills are okay!  People have hobbies!  No charisma or comedy skills allowed, though, they influence the challenge too much.

-I don’t know how large a household I can manage.  I want to take everyone, but I don’t know how many that will be.  If I feel like I can’t handle the sims I have, there may be several multi-person eliminations.  But, everyone will probably get in because I have no self control.

Okay, so I got a little creative last night because I had this cute idea, but then it splintered into a TON of ideas and I honestly just don’t have time to write them all, so I figured what I could do is give you all of the headcanons that I have for the couples in order to help flush the idea out of my mind. AU PREMISE FOR ALL STORIES: One boy loves/likes/hates/has some feelings toward the other boy, so they make an anon Tumblr and send them an ask that leads to them talking. 

Also the boys are all in college. Cause yeah...>.>

H2O Vanoss: Evan is a popular music blog “Vanoss”, Jonathan is the shy follower who sends in an unusually sweet message on New Years Eve as his New Years resolution (Luke challenges him to do something he’s wanted to do forever, and Jonathan tell him he’s going to confess to his crush but won’t tell him who it is). Jonathan has been friends with Evan for five years, and in love with Evan for two years after hearing him perform a self-written song during a charity event for the school. He intended for this to be his only ask, so he kind put a lot of feelings into it and wrote it as a submission (as Tumblr only allows 500 characters). Also, randomly reblogs a cute picture of Evan fanart. After this he goes to sleep, he wakes up to a bunch of alerts saying that “Vanoss” will be doing a surprise performance that afternoon in the school common area. Jonathan goes, wanting to see his performance (as he’s gone to all of them, being Evan’s “Good luck charm”) and hangs in the back while texting Evan a stupid good luck thing. He kinda gets surprised Evan speaks to the crowd (as he never does), and he’s kinda obviously nervous but in THE cutest way possible. Jonathan is kinda smitten by this before Evan says ‘this goes out to someone who kind of made my night, and uh… I hope they’re here listening to this. Thanks for the letter, Delirious.’ Jonathan is like ‘...WHAT’ in his head and Evan sings this really sweet/cute song. Everyone loves it, and it’s obvious that people are snapchatting it and taping it, all with the same question: Who is Delirious?! After the song, Evan gives a little smile and is like ‘If you’re here, lemme know if you like it or something, Del.’ Cue Del kinda panicking and first thought is ‘must deactivate the tumblr and get rid of all of the evidence’ but as he’s going on his tumblr, but when he goes home, he’s got +99 notifications, all of them tagging him in the video and being like ‘Respond!’ He also gets like 200 more followers (“I DON’T EVEN USE THIS BLOG”) and people sending him asks about who he is. He does kinda make a post about himself saying he goes to the school (as some people were calling him a creep/saying he’s not real) but he can’t say who he is. Cue the craziness that is Jonathan being Evan’s friend and “trying to help him” find out who Delirious is, all while trying to keep his own feelings hidden because he’s re-falling in love with Evan through their chats on Tumblr.

Okay, this one is 99% going to be written. >.> I love it too much not to.

OhmToonz: “Ohmwrecker” is a Tumblr writer, who has gotten popularity for a web-book he is doing. Luke is a friend of Ryan’s and one of the only people who knows he is the Ohmwrecker. During a moment of writer’s block, Ryan asks for people to send him motivation asks to get him back on track. Luke, bored and feelin’ some kind of way because his best friend is too busy writing his story to pay attention to him, sends a flirty anon to get Ryan to blush and then log off of Tumblr. Ryan, however, gets a little bit of courage, and ends up flirting back with ‘ Toonzy’ as the anon has labeled himself. Luke is kinda impressed with his friend, and starts sending stupid one-liners and little flirty messages that imply that he actually knows Ryan, not just ‘Ohmwrecker’. This is kinda risky for Ryan, who has kept his identity a secret from the other kids on campus. But Ryan is really into this guy, who shifts onto messenger as ‘Cartoonz’ and maybe there’s a lot of sexual stuff that happens. >.> But as they kinda heat up, Luke slips that Ryan knows him, too, and now Ryan is like ‘wait, what?? We’re friends?!’ except Luke doesn’t remember telling Ryan this because he’s drunk. Now, Ryan is trying to figure out who Cartoonz is without letting Cartoonz know that he knows that Cartoonz knows him. It’s a hot mess.

TerrorMoo: Brian is a Tumblr artist, and Brock has been sending him anon messages for a while about his art. The two of them are cordial, living in the same dormintory, and bumping into each other late at night in the community room (Brock stays up late to finish papers and Brian says he draws best at 2am). Finally one day, Brock bites the bullet and makes a tumblr, wherein one night he reblogs all of Brian’s art and leaves really sweet tags on each one. Brock also does little analysis for each one, as Brian had earlier talked about possibly stopping his career in art in order to pursue a ‘more stable job’. This ends up getting a lot of activity regarding Brian’s work, and Brian takes notice of the like, 30 reblogs/comments “Moo-Snuckle” left on his work. Brian now is on the hunt to figure out who this mystery man is, and Brock is desperate to hide the truth, thinking that Brian will realize that he’s in love with him. Also can’t stop commenting/reblogging each of Brian’s new pictures, because Brian has openly said that ‘Moo’ is inspiring him to keep going with his art. Gay-os ensues.

MiniCat: Tyler doesn’t like Mini (a semi popular movie critic Tumblr) and so he sends him an anon message (was going to send hate, but Brian tells him to send a ‘love ask’ to pull a prank on him) and Tyler kinda expects a pompous answer or him kinda gloating about people sending him love. Instead, he’s surprised when Mini is really humbled, and starts to ask questions about him, as he would like to ‘get to know the person who was stupid enough to fall for him’. Tyler’s kinda stuck now, and he sorta grumbles out a ‘you’re not that stupid’ and hence them kinda talking through asks. Then Mini boldly tells him to send him a private message to him because he wants to get to know him better. Tyler, in a panic, creates ‘I-Am-Wildcat’ and reblogs a bunch of random shit to make it look like he had a blog all along. Accidentally shares some nsfw stuff, including gay boys, and Mini is like ‘oh wow, you’re really proactive about gay rights and stuff, that’s really cool’. Tyler is actually really sorta closeted atm, so he’s like ‘....fuck’. But hey, he’s anon, so it won’t REALLY hurt, right? And it’s through kinda talking to Mini that he starts to become okay with himself, and then comes the problem; how does he tell Mini that he’s falling for him when 1) Mini doesn’t know he’s gay irl and 2) The whole thing was a joke from the beginning? (not anymore lmao)

Krii7y: Smiity had just ended a relationship and was kinda feeling like shit about it. Put a post up saying ‘Should I even keep my tumblr? It’s not like anyone would care’. Smiity ends up getting an anon saying ‘I care, you fuck.’ Smiity, feeling a little self-deprecating, starts a conversation with ‘Kryoz’ about how he’s wrong, and if he did disappear, it wasn’t like this guy actually knows him. And when the guy is like ‘I do’ and Smiity is like ‘prove it’, the guy sends a anon with Smiity’s real name. And now Smiity’s like ‘wait wtf how do you know me? Who are you?’ and Kryoz is like ‘figure it out, bitch’. And this whole story is like, Smiity trying to figure out who this person is, while Kryoz gives him clues as well as flirts kinda (in their weird way) and Smiity is so focused on this new person and figuring it out that he kinda slips out of his depression about his ex and falls for this new quirky man.

So yeah, these are my silly AUs for these weirdos involving Tumblr asks. I don’t know, I just...my brain is too full of stuff. Just had to get these out. Let me know what you think.

I’m getting close to my 1,500 follower milestone and for my follower celebration I want to celebrate YOU-- the badass humans and writers of Tumblr! I know a lot of you guys write your own fanfiction, and that’s honestly a huge part of why I get on Tumblr! But in all seriousness, I want Artfol to do well. It’s incredibly artist-friendly. Even with Week 1 bugs and like, 2 people developing it, it’s still giving features that I can see being incredibly helpful to artists overall.

A system where likes are private on a post except in the notifications of the poster (Edit: there may be a way, I’ve been notified, that there is a place to see them on the post itself if you dig); without really knowing how many likes a piece actually has, it essentially erases the “engagement fatigue” that happens when you start valuing your art by how many times the like button is pushed.

Has a reblog function that shares other’s works to your timeline that links back to the original creator

Has specific category tags to help organize your art, and you are allowed 3 tags per piece. You don’t have to overthink/clog up with tags in order to be seen. I love it, keeps me from overthinking

As far as I can see, all posts are chronological. All “top/hot pieces” seem to be off engagement alone. Kind of like how dA was with their front page. Front page is also categorized by type!

CRITIQUE ZONE. Oh my god, I love this. You can tag pieces specifically for critique. It’s a LEARNING ZONE.

Specific Art Challenge / Submissions area where you can submit to popular art challenges and see the work of everyone who has completed one so far.

Alerts are categorized by type!

There is both a public text forum front page and an art front page. Your personal timeline, like Tumblr, combines the two so you get updates and photos from your artist friends as they come out in one convenient place

It seems like a by-artist, for-artist sort of model, so it feels less performative for a general audience, and more within the realms of a tight-knit supportive network where both hobbyists and professionals can happily support and intermingle. That being said, there IS a non-artist account you can have if you just enjoy looking at art that you can sign up for if you don’t do the arts!

I remember hearing through the grapevine that a commissions tab is in the works for quick reference/access!
