Music tastes because this game owns my soul

Amara: Nothing but calm, peaceful indie worship for meditation, or Partali Rap for everything else. Does enjoy the occasional rock opera, but not enough to make a Playlist for it.

Ava: Emo grunge and sad lo-fi. Typical sad 13 year old girl songs, but the sadness level varies. Sometimes its "ah, 13yo blues", sometimes "Oh, yeah. This is a child who's gone through some sh*t and is clearly not coping." Everyone uses her Spotify as a mood tracker to check in on her.

Axton: Bluegrass country, old school rock, and - god bless - the most basic pop in the world. Like, retail pop. Radio pop. Pop music no one likes and only hit the charts because of grocery stores playing it on repeat. He genuinely likes it, too.

Brick: R&B and jazz. Most people assume its violent screamo, but why would he want to listen to that when he's relaxing? That's punching music, not kicking back music.

Clay: Either super catchy and suave, or a blatant cry for help. Classy Jazz and touching Southern Gothic, Jimmy Buffet. Songs about confidence, Jimmy Buffet. Ballads for smuggling and general crimery, Jimmy Buffet. Why is he listening to Jimmy Buffet? He doesn't know. He just is. Wainwright has a therapist on speeddial for the day when Clay has listened to nothing but Jimmy Buffet for three weeks.

Fl4k: Anything dark and moody, actual genre doesn't matter. Prefers quieter, slow paced songs. Songs about leaving home for the better fill their main playlist.

Gaige: Screamo metal. The most offensive screamo metal you will ever hear. Has hearing problems from this. Don't use full volume, kids.

Hammerlock: Jazz, classical, folk, orchestra - elegent stuff, as per usual. He isn't stuffy about it like some people. Varied taste, he just has some quirkiness with his preferences. Rap is fine, he just likes old rap from his youth. Will absolutely grumble about it getting worse each year .

Krieg: Doesn't like music, it freaks him out. But, he is known to listen to someone singing. Axton's humming in the garage, Maya's shower concerts, Lilith's quiet memorial songs when she thinks no one can hear her. He doesn't like music. He likes singing.

Lilith: Rock sung by female leads, female rappers, and girl power ballads. Just appeals to her. The only male singer she liked was Roland.

Lorelai: Same as Lilith, but kicked up to a level that makes you think she's part of a coven. Does like the occasional country power ballad, though; songs about community and sticking together and such.

Maya: Music you could fall asleep to. Its the calmest, most zen playlist you could ever find. It's very vocal, with emphasis on slow instruments. The music you listen to when you want to study or transcend. do not find her guilty pleasures playlist.

Mordecai: He could tell you every artist he has ever listened you, and you will have heard of none of them. It's not intentional, he just fell down a rabbit hole and moved in. His taste is very folk, indie, rural country - lots of guitars and percussions.

Moxxi: Carrie Underwood country. That genre of country thats just women killing men. Sure, she likes a sultry jazz, maybe a suggestive pop, but her heart is meant for a raspy-voiced woman with a guitar crooning about poisoning her husband.

Moze: She likes a lot of things, especially old synth-pop. Upbeat rock with old sounds the remind you of fruit for some reason? Her jams. Her favorite song is a mystery, though. Its in a different language you've never heard of, it has no identifiable instruments, the title is Track 1. Someone listened to the entirety of it and died the next day. Definitely haunted. She says it's just a national hymn from her home planet, but no one buys it.

Salvador: Back-porch country and ballads. He likes things that come from the heart. His favorite songs are ones of people singing about their home with pride. He has a soft spot for emotional climax songs from musicals, too. Detests bro country and retail pop.

Tannis: Hates music, but likes wind chimes. That's it.

Tina: Has 218 playlists for every conceivable mood. Her library of saved songs is over 10k. Has no favorite genre, but her favorite songs tend to lean towards the alternative or rap variety.

Troy: If you look at his Spotify he will cry. Barely any his playlists have a title, just keysmashing. The only one that has a title is just an eggplant emoji and it's nothing but dominatrix power balleds. His most played playlist is filled with songs about Cain and Abel. As for genre? Rap. Rock. Punk. Screamo. Everything your mother doesn't like.

Tyreen: Not an active music listener. But! Her Spotify is nothing but love ballads. Her top 50 each year are the sappiest romance songs known to man. A lot of soundtracks of musicals and movies, too. The genre does not matter, what matters is if someone's name pops into your head when you listen to it.

Wainwright: Emo country. Like, Southern Gothic if it was even more depressed and spooky. He has not evolved from his taste as a 13 year old in an unhappy family. Only started listening to happier music when he met Alistair. Would die of embarrassment if this got out.

Zane: Likes literally everything, but has a soft spot for the rock and folk that came out of Pandora during the Gold Rush times when the corps were fighting for tech and power. Those songs stuck with Pandora, and the songs are important for every clan. They're about greed, apathy of corporations, the mystery of the Eridians, the harshness of Pandora. He gets in a mood when he listens them, like a grandpa watching the news report on the war he just got back from. He tells stories when he gets like this. Sometimes they're sad, sometimes they're bitterly hopeful.

Zer0: Techno that sounds like someone vomiting out their soul. Moody, atmospheric, unsettling techno. They say they refuse to listen to anything that has color in its album art.

And it's all a lie.

Zer0 likes the pinkest bubblegum pop and the stupidest meme songs. Carmelldansen? They've listened to it for 1000 hours.

The only person to find their secret Spotify was Rhys and he was too busy admiring this strange account's taste in music to realize that every playlist title and description was a haiku, and that the account was called "atlas.n1nja.b0ps". Rhys brought it up to Zer0 like "I found my soul mate, we have the same favorites!" And Zer0 would have sh*t themselves if they could have.

I feel like you have probably answered something like this before and i just cannot seem to find it for the life of me, but do you have somewhere you mention the kinds of basic supplies someone just getting started with bookbinding would need? Thank you! And thank you for sharing pictures of your projects! they're so pretty and inspiring to look at!

I probably do! Things are theoretically in my bookbinding tag or my spock replies tag, but tumblr can be a real dick about making those show up properly, especially on mobile. And I always like a challenge to see if I can present things better over time!!!

So, there are a couple of big-picture supplies you will need if you want to get started with printing fic in particular, and those are 1) a word processor, and 2) a printer. I'm mentioning these up front because they can be annoying accessibility speedbumps, but there are a number of inexpensive/entry level options if you're giving the hobby a try, but don't know if you want to commit. I'm working in Word and have Affinity to learn at some point, but LibreOffice is a classic freeware option that has most of the functionality of word. I have a laser printer I received as a gift, but if you have an inkjet on hand, you can learn there, or you may have access to a school/work printer, or office supply stores often do remote print jobs.

But, then it comes down to the books themselves! Let's start from the assembly of the text block, keeping it as bare bones as possible, then move to the cover. I'll start with an open-spined coptic binding, then add a few little bits for casebinding.

To make a book, you need 3) paper. I use cheap-ass white office paper, but there's art paper, paper friendly to fountain pens, or colorful papers if you want to have fun. I fold my signatures, then really set the creases with 4) a bone folder (or, like, the handle of my box cutter knife if I'm really lazy). For a coptic binding with an open spine, the covers are sewn with the block, so it's time for me to also get 5) two cover boards (chipboard is my go-to. corrugated cardboard is too thick, but like, cereal boxes can work in a pinch, etc). If I'm going to make the covers pretty, I cover them using 6) pretty paper (probably cardstock weight or so) and 7) adhesive (look for acid-free PVA, some elmers glue qualifies). These boards and paper probably need to be cut to size using 8) a craft knife (and a safe cutting surface and a straightedge to cut against). Then I measure and mark holes for sewing and punch them with 8) an awl (or a tack, or something sharp). I sew it up with 9) a needle, and 10) heavy-duty thread (waxed linen is heaviest duty and lasts longest, I've used upholstery thread or embroidery floss too). And there we go, the coptic book is done!

There are some accessories that make this easier, like having 11) a cutting mat to use your craft knife on, and to check that things are approximately square.

Now, for a casebound book! This has a closed spine, which means you're going to get in there with the glue and structure a LITTLE more Most of the materials stay the same, but constructing and covering the case structure gets a little trickier. Here, you're also going to want to set your spine with glue (and it'll be relevant to the case), so 12) a glue brush becomes pretty critical (I tried this out at first using the disposable craft foam ones, which still work pretty darn well for me). You can... technically cover a casebound book with paper, but the hinges are going to put stress on it, while a coptic binding avoids this problem. So you'll need 13) woven (non-stretch) fabric, and the most beginner-friendly method is probably 14) heat n' bond, 15) craft tissue paper, and 16) an iron. There are ways to do this by saturating your fabric with wheat paste, but I've never tried them, and this was/is so much less daunting to me. Sealemon's casebinding videos are very beginner-friendly in general, but the bookcloth video is still basically just... what I do. And finally, you want 17) a giant stack of heavy objects, preferably with something flat like a textbook on the bottom, because you'll want to compress your glued-up book and make sure it dries nicely.

This may feel like an overwhelming number of things to pull together. And... it kind of is. But hopefully a lot of them are things you already have on hand, and I'm SERIOUSLY a proponent of 'what ever gets you to the next step, go for it', especially when you're just learning. Don't have an awl? Just get those holes in place, however you can, and press on! There's an AWFUL amount of optional equipment out there that you can keep buying and buying and buying for days on end, but these little items will give you so much more flexibility than you think. I do definitely recommend trying a coptic binding first, not only because of the reduced amount of Stuff you have to juggle, it's a good way to feel out the key mechanics before really committing to GLUING things in place. I did a few before trying my first covered-spine book, and these days I'm trying to figure out a good project for a fun coptic binding, because they really are very pretty books just on their own merits. I hope that helps!!

How to submit your story to be posted on the SPNFanFicPond blog and attract new readers

One of the benefits of being a member of the Pond is being able to submit your stories to us to be posted and spread your work to a wider audience. We have put together this guide so we can help you get your story in front of a wider audience.

Detailed instructions on how to submit your stories and how to help us get the tagging right are all below the cut:

There are two ways to submit a story to the Pond: via desktop or mobile browser app, and the Tumblr app.

Via desktop or mobile internet browser app:

Click on the Submission link in the Navigation block at the top of the Pond blog.

On the drop down list, change from Text submission to Link submission.

In URL, use your permalink URL for your post with your story. Your screen will then look like this:

You do not need to edit the text in the description if you don't want to! However, you do have to click the relevant tags in the list underneath the description. For example, the tags for this story would look like this:

Click on the relevant tags, accept the Terms of Submission, click Submit, and you're done!

How to submit on the Tumblr app:

Submitting via the app, whether it's Android or iOS, is fairly easy, though not without it's annoyances. Mainly, the app will automatically load up ALL of the tag options, and you need to manually remove the ones that don't apply. Below is a step-by-step tutorial on submitting via the app. (Special thanks to @negans-lucille-tblr for the help with the screenshots!)

Click on the envelope in the top right corner of the screen, and some version of the question below will appear. You want to Submit Your Fics.

A screen like this will appear (with your URL and icon instead of Bee's). Tap on the link icon at the bottom of the screen and paste your post's URL into the box that pops up.

Your screen will look something like this:

Tap the # icon at the bottom of the screen, and the tags editor will slide up from the bottom of the screen. Tap on each tag that you want to remove, and it will change color and a little x will appear. Tap on the x to remove that tag. (Backspacing or deleting may also work, depending on your phone's keyboard and OS.)

Once you've removed all of the irrelevant tags, tap on Done, then Submit, and you're all done!

What's the deal with all of the tags?

This is part of our initiative to attract more readers to follow both the Pond blog and your blog! The way new readers find stories and writers they love is through searching Tumblr for tags. We want the Pond blog to become one-stop shopping for all the SPN fan fiction that readers could want, leading them to all of the great writers in our fishy family! By clicking all of the relevant tags in your submission, you will prompt us to add a whole host of relevant tags to our reblog of your story. This will help get your story in front of more readers!

A while back, we asked you all to submit tags that you thought were important, along with all of their variations. We now have a pretty extensive list of tags to use. The trick is getting them all in place on each post. This won’t be easy, and honestly, there will be times when we can’t. That being said, we will do our best to make it work most of the time.

Here is the list of tags that are on the submission page for you to use and what each of them means:

Angel Fish Award Nom - This tag is not for story submissions. When you use this tag, we will need a link to the story you want to nominate as well as a short blurb about why you want to nominate the story entered into the description box.

I'm running a challenge and my fellow pondies should come check it out - This is pretty self-explanatory.

masterlist - Only use this when you are submitting either your own masterlist or the masterlist to a series instead of one of the chapters.

Different writing platforms that aren’t Tumblr:

AO3: Just for writing with some art. No blogging. Great for posting series. User friendly. Can grow an audience easily. Helps with plagiarism claims. Defends fanfic writers against lawsuits. Not allowed to mention Patreon, kofi, or other sites where profiting from fic is possible. Must be invited to create an account. Easy and quick to apply and get an invite. Wattpad: Notorious for users stealing other writers’ works. They’re really bad at dealing with plagiarism complaints. Fanfiction.net: Not allowed to have reader inserts.

Posting on Tumblr:

There is a new post editor currently in beta. It’s different, and takes time to learn, but has a lot of advantages.

Lots more options for font style, size, and color.

Can copy and paste from Google docs directly into the editor without losing formatting.

Mention tags do not need to be activated.

Can only tag 50 blogs per post.

A list of hashtags can be copied from Google and pasted directly into a post. (Old editor required a browser extension like xkit or tumblr tags.

Bugs: The editor sometimes gets overwhelmed and doesn’t allow you to type certain letters or otherwise freaks out. You can switch back to the old editor, and then update with the new editor. [Editor’s Note: Also, saving the post as a draft, then editing the draft will make it work again.] Tumblr is not great, but it's what we’ve got, so we deal with it.

Creating a post, from top to bottom:

Title: Some people use a collage of pictures as a banner with the title in it. [Editor’s Note: Putting the title of your work in the title area of a post makes it easier to find when someone looks at your archive.]

Rating (like how movies are rated): This is necessary, especially if your fic contains adult themes, gore, excessive violence, dark themes, etc.

Pairing: This is necessary. If there is no pairing, you can say “No Pairing” or list the characters included in the story.

Word count: This is necessary. Readers need to know if they have time to finish your story.

Warnings: This is necessary, especially if there are adult themes, gore, dark themes, non-con, dub-con, etc. Giving warnings is part of being responsible as a writer and helping readers avoid triggering content.

Summary: Most include one but some don’t. Mads will sometimes only include a summary on the masterlist for a series to keep chapter posts from getting too long. When posting on AO3, you need a summary, but for Tumblr, it’s not as necessary for every post.

Additional tags: These tags are not necessary like warnings tags. These can be teasing and hint at what happens in the story. [Editor’s note: This is where a writer may list included kinks to attract readers.] This can also replace a summary. You should have either a summary or this tag list.

Author’s Note: Not necessary. Here you would put anything you want to add before someone reads your story. Link to the series masterlist or your main masterlist. Mention any prompts, challenges, bingos, or requests related to the story. This is a good place to give credit to any alpha, beta, or omega readers who helped you with the story (after checking that they are okay being tagged)!

Credit to artists who create banners, dividers, gifs, or any art that you include.

Insert a gif, image, or divider

Your story goes here.

Use a Keep Reading tab for posts over 500 words, including the fic header. This is necessary! You can create suspense to a story by placing the cut in a certain place. It makes people want to read more.

Mention tags should be put at the bottom of the post. The new post editor makes adding these tags much easier.

Use the appropriate hashtags at the bottom of the post. These tags help people blacklist content that triggers them, and also help people find stories they want to read. #tw: non-con, or #dean winchester x reader are common examples of each type of tag. Only 20 tags are relevant, with the first five tags being the most important, so consider those tags carefully!

Save As Draft, Schedule, Queue, or Post Now.

Timezone reblogs, submitting your fics to blogs like the Pond and the Ocean can help you reach more readers. Don’t be afraid to market your works!

Notes: Answer the following with pictures (dialogue from your characters is optional!). Collages are highly encouraged if you want to answer a question with multiple pictures because tumblr mobile only allows 10 total pics. Otherwise, tumblr on a desktop lets you add multiple pictures (non-beta)!

Super super late to this, because of my stupid exam but now we are here so let's go! 💃🏽🏠

A/N : I am placing this two years and seven months after the wedding, because I HC Ethan and Meera staying at Ethan's apartment for two years after the wedding and they only start house hunting when they have the baby talk and start trying for a baby. So technically not newlyweds anymore. Now let's get started! ✨

Meera opens the door and greets Bree.

Meera : Hii Bree, welcome to our humble abode.

Bree (chuckles) : This place is anything but humble. I hope I am not causing much trouble.

Meera : Absolutely not. Who else is going to make me feel like a youtuber?

Both laugh, Ethan joins and greets Bree.

Bree : Congratulations on the good news Dr. Ramsey. How far are y'all?

Ethan : Thank you Bree. It's been 3 months already.

Meera (cradling her small bump) : Yup one trimester down two more to go.

Ethan (kissing her forehead) : And then there will be a mini version of you running around these halls.

Meera : Nope it's gonna be a mini you.

The couple shares a look as if challenging each other.

Meera : Fine, Bree, whose team are you on? Do you think it'll be a boy or a girl?

Bree : I am happy with either because at the end I'll be interviewing him or her too.

The three of them share a laugh.

Bree : Let's get started, shall we?

Ethan : Sure.

What does the outside of the home look like? (Front/back yard, garden, pool, etc)

Front :

Meera : We were looking for something modern yet chic, something that is totally us. I fell in love with the design whereas Ethan was in total awe of the open space and glass doors. Needless to say our heart was stuck on this no matter how many more houses we visited.

Backyard :

Ethan : The backyard also doubles up as the garden but it's not quite completed yet.

Meera : Yes it's been two months since we moved, and we haven't been able to work on the garden because of work and the pregnancy. Ethan : But we want to build a garden with a tree house and maybe some swings.

Meera (too excited) : Ohh swings! Yes please add it onto the list. Why didn't I think of it before?

Pool :

Meera : Definitely my favorite part!

Ethan : She is a water baby through and through so that's no surprise.

Meera : Don't act like you don't appreciate me in a swimsuit, Ramsey (winks)

Ethan : There is no denying that.

Living room and home office (if any)?

Living room :

Ethan : Meera was hell bent on having an L-shaped couch.

Meera : Those things are so bougie I had to have one because now I can finally afford one. But yeah the living room is so relaxing with a beautiful view of the outside.

Home office :

Meera : Honestly speaking, I do not understand the utility of a home office, I didn't understand back at his apartment neither do I understand now. If I am supposed to work from home I can do that on the couch or on my bed or even better on the daybeds by the pool.

Ethan (shaking his head) : You'll get it darling. When you start your maternity leave I'll see how you make zoom calls with the pool as your background.

Meera shrugs.

Kitchen and dining room?

Meera : This part was all Ethan so I'll let him do the talking.

Ethan (proudly) : A Poggenpohl kitchen with a granite-topped island adds an ultramodern touch. Glass shelves display colorful glassware convenient to the wet bar. A translucent sliding glass door below the shelves hides the more utilitarian gadgets. And finally playful mod pendant lights seem to levitate over the dining table, which is meant to resemble a river running through the woods.

Meera : You sure you didn't miss your true calling as an interior designer babe?

Ethan (smirks) : Nope, just the fact that I tend to excel at everything I do, Rookie.

Meera : And that makes you 10 times hotter!

Bedrooms? (Master, guest, others)

Master bedroom :

Meera : The bedroom has a different color scheme and tone from the rest of the house because I wanted it to stand out and break the monotone.

Ethan : Again the chandelier was Meera's opinion.

Meera : Finding common ground between his minimalistic taste and mine was difficult but we made it through.

Master Bathroom :

Ethan : Meera I don't think it was necessary to bring Bree in here.

Do you own your dream home? If not, what does that dream home look like?

Ethan : For the majority of my life home for me was a structure of bricks and cement with a ceiling but Meera was the one who brought all the love and light and showed me what a real home felt like. So for me, my home is where my heart is and for this lifetime it's kept safe with this gorgeous woman whom I fortunately call my wife.

Silence lasts for a couple of minutes then Meera snorts.

Meera (drying her eye) : Damn you pregnancy hormones, I am not even wearing waterproof mascara. It was super cheesy Ethan, a non pregnant me would have definitely called you out on your cheese but this pregnant Meera has to agree with you. Even a stable is my dream home if I have my dream husband with me. (she kisses Ethan) but I wouldn't mind a Jacuzzi, a home theatre, a game room (laughing)

Ethan (an easy smile on his face) : Always knew you were in it because of the money Bose.

What is your favorite room to spend time in with each other?

Meera : The library. Just him reading to our unborn child like he isn't already the most perfect man in the world.

Ethan (a very satisfied smile on his face) : First I am very surprised that you kept it PG. So the obvious answer is the bedroom but other than that, the patio, which is not a room though.

Ethan : Meera has a slight deficiency in vitamin D so to avoid complications, we spend a lot of time here in the sun. We play board games, read and even discuss work here sometimes.

Meera : Ooh yes! This was another great investment and a great way to utilise the humongous outdoor space we have.

Thinking about it, it kinda sucks just how little new horizons has.

Like... I love the game to pieces and maybe this is just bc im in a shitty mood (which i am) but like... god this is gonna be long and ranty and I'm sorry in advance that mobile tumblr doesnt have the read more feature

For starters, holidays are all scheduled on the company's terms, meaning in 7+ years or so there will be no more in-game holidays because by then they'll probably be thinking about/getting ready to release the next installment of the series on whatever console is out at the time and they won't want to update new horizons anymore. And adding onto this, you need the internet to download the updates. What happens to the players who don't have internet?? Can they just never experience the holidays like bunny day and toy day and turkey day? That takes a HUGE part of the fun of the series out right off the bat. Sometimes making everything rely on the internet is a bad idea. Idk if anyone can like tell me if having no internet means you can't take part in the holidays, but like... god if that's true thats really sad.

They recently took out the hybrid flower and big fish islands, which makes no sense whatsoever why they would do that to a game that has so little, but ok?? It's not like that feature was hindering the gameplay any

There's a lot of furniture but Not a Lot of Furniture, you get me? They took out EVERY set except the classic set (renamed "antique") that you can buy for an insanely high price, and the log and wooden block sets that you can craft, but other that that it's all unrelated items that aren't part of any set, aside from the cute set and diner and throwback sets which as far as I can remember are the only other sets you can buy in the game. No alpine, no ranch, no minimalist, no princess or gracie, no modern or sleek, none of that. And 90% of all the buy-only furniture in the game is just the color variants. You can't even customize them! And it's hard as fuck to find the color variants you want, much less for completing a furniture set

And speaking of which, your starting villagers don't get their default house interiors. Your first three + your two starters from the tutorial days have the same generic layouts. You NEVER see what their houses are supposed to look like, and even if you give them the wallpaper and flooring they're supposed to have (if you figure that out online somewhere), their house doesn't change (I tested this with Sherb and was kinda disappointed).

And stuff is so EXPENSIVE. I know it adds a challenge but my final loan was NEVER 1 mil+ bells in New Leaf. And you can't even expand the extra first floor rooms you get. I'm literally getting less for WAY more. The biggest rooms you get are the basement and upstairs rooms. The first floor rooms aside from the main room really don't have a lot of space and with the different furniture they DO offer, I don't have a lot of room to put things in. But it's not like I can even afford it anyway -- just a freaking air conditioner was 63,000 bells. In New Leaf it was 2500. That's a MASSIVE jump. And the kitchen items are so freaking expensive, as well.

And speaking of houses, for someone who was literally in the real estate industry in the last game, tom nook adds very few house exterior options. And the even more shitty thing is that a lot of the colors straight up don't match. They couldn't even add a plain white roof.

God and the fucking DIY recipes. I know I've said this before on my other tumblr but the RNG for this game is the worst I've ever fucking seen. There is no reason why, two months into the game, I can be given a recipe for a simple DIY bench, which EVERYONE LEARNS IN THE TUTORIAL. Who the fuck am I giving it to?! No one, because literally every player knows it already, and you can't gift diy recipes to villagers! And I keep getting repeats of recipes. My villagers give me fruit DIYs all the time, it's so rare for me to get any new ones. And two days in a row I've gotten the recipe for the deer head mount thing from the same villager. New recipes should 100% take the priority before repeats. This game is slow paced, sure, but that's just frustrating. It doesn't make me excited to learn more recipes, it makes me feel like I'm never gonna learn any new ones because I'll get the same fruit DIYs for a week straight.

And speaking of which, you can't put trees, bushes, or flowers in your storage, which to me makes literally no sense. I can fit a giant ass fountain in my storage but I can't put a flower plant? Really? And speaking of storage, for a game that added 300 whole slots for mail instead of the usual 10, I will never understand why they decided to halve the amount of items a player can order a day from the nook shopping, AND make it so that it takes a whole day to get there instead of making deliveries at 9 am and 5 pm like in New Leaf.

And the fact that they made it so hard to get non native fruit and flowers and shit??? Like they at LEAST added Lief so flowers aren't as much of an issue anymore, but you actually have to travel to other people's islands just to get all the fruits?? I know you have to do the same thing in New Leaf but the reason why this is an issue for me is because you have to pay for online access, meaning most of those nook miles for planting all the fruits are locked behind a paywall unless your villagers can gift them to you. And your mom, when you first start the game, has a chance of giving you the one fruit that's on the non-native fruit mystery island, meaning you'll only get ONE new fruit and not two separate ones (for example, my sis got pears from mom but her non native fruit islands have cherries i believe. I got pears from mom and my fruit islands also have pears. Doesnt help that that's the one fruit i hate lmao). They also took OUT a bunch of fruits, like mangoes, durians, lemons, bananas, lychees, persimmons...

And the fact that your nook miles rewards are ISLAND LOCKED. That is the WORST SHIT. Not everyone has the ability to play with others, bc no internet or no money for the subscription every month. Not everyone WANTS to play with others bc maybe they get social anxiety (like me, which is why i havent asked for things that are impossible for me to get even though i want them for my island or house), or maybe they simply just don't want to. But the fact that each island has their own color variants of the same goddamn rewards that CANNOT BE CHANGED makes me so upset. I do not want nor should I have to rely on others to get the items I want because my game doesn't have my preferred color variations. And it's not like I'm far enough in the game to have anything worth trading for said items, nor do I have the bells.

And Isabelle does next to fucking nothing and I'm really irked about how they made her character in this game. Yeah she's cute, but that's ALL she is. She became more ditzy than anything else. She doesn't let you know about visitors in the town or the plaza or if a bridge or incline was built bc of a completed donation goal. Like really useful info to know would be if Flick or CJ is in town or who is selling stuff in the plaza. Flavor text is nice but if that's all you say 24/7 it loses its charm. In New Leaf she was helpful and hardworking and super focused and on top of things. Idk why they changed that aspect of her. I know her role in New Horizons isn't as big as it was in New Leaf, but still.

And then there's glitches that STILL haven't been patched (as far as I know anyway), like the game-breaking villager corruption glitch (which you'd think nintendo would have made a priority but they're too busy removing other features it seems) or the house exterior glitch.

And it's bad enough that your game saves to your fucking system a la Fantasy Life. But even WORSE, no one can have separate islands on one console. It's not enough to own two copies of New Horizons. Each player has to own one copy of the game and a whole new Switch just so they can play on their own islands. Parents can't usually afford that (aka $360 for each kid give or take) so for a game marketed towards kids, I don't know why they thought that was a smart move (well, I DO know, and that's because money, but still). And to top it all off, cloud saves are not supported normally. If you lose your game or your switch and aren't subscribed to nintendo online, well, it looks like all your progress is gone! And there's nothing you can do about it. And they directly claimed that they did this just so people can't manipulate the game because it's supposed to be played in real time. But people can still fucking time travel by setting the system's clock! They achieved nothing except to make the players frustrated!!! If you make a game you need to accept that the player is going to play how THEY want to. You shouldn't try to make everyone conform to the way YOU want them to play. That just makes you a controlling asshole and the game loses a lot of its fun.

This game was 60 bucks and they took so long to make it and we ended up with less than we got in New Leaf. The main thing they gave us was a shit ton more clothing items (which I really like). Like I said, I love this game to pieces and it's actually one of my favorite games right now. There's so much I love about it -- I certainly don't hate it or anything. But this game has SO MANY flaws, a lot of which are needless. And I think the kid in me just misses the days where you can pay for a game and get the whole game right away. No updates in tiny batches, no content locked behind paywalls, no day one patches, no reliance on internet connection and multiplayer... mainstream companies have all gone really downhill with that shit and it just disappoints me to no end. But because Nintendo is kid-oriented, I think that's where it hurts the most. It was supposed to be accessible, family friendly fun like back during the days of the Wii and the DS. But companies get so wrapped up in competing with each other and trying to make the most money that they forget about all that. I dunno. It just sucks.

If you read all this, god damn I'm surprised XD I got super ranty and I apologize. But I'm in a sad mood and I after learning about features they've taken out I just had to get all this off my chest. It's been weighing on me since the game released, especially since for months prior this game was all I could think about and I was really looking forward to it. It just let me down in a lot of ways, I guess.

Who the heck is my muse anyway:

Alex Miller, 20 (as of 2019), Explorer/Adventurer who spends their time studying the supernatural and magical elements of the forest.

Due to (semi)recent events, they are a reluctant god of space/creation and live on a new planet populated by at least 3 other sentient species, aside from humans.

Points of interest:

Maroon-red hair with a poofy curl of bangs, incredibly pale, floor length black trench coat, jeans and boots: This is what they look like 99% of the time.

A thick journal, an array of knives, and a few useful magic charms: this is what is in their coat pockets 99% of the time.

They are studious, attentive, and a little people/socially awkward. And near always willing and excited to help where and when it’s needed.

Alex has a dreamcatcher necklace charm that they made themself. When flipped like a coin, it opens a portal of bright light, color, and lightening which can transport the user to “anyplace of their dreams” AKA, think of a place and you’ll be there when you step through. It is their main source of long-distance travel.

What they’ve been up to recently:

Taking care of their pets (3 dragons, 1 giant chicken, 1 cat, 1 dog)

Studying their new home, either by hands-on hiking through the woods or by checking out several books at a time on the history, myths, and trivia of the planet.

Traveling to/waiting inside the ruins of a temple where their boyfriend is currently asleep until an undetermined point in time.

(This is an IC secret but) Alex just finished the main construction of a seaside house on a cliff for said sleeping boyfriend.

Studying a handful of magic related books to come up with new potions and/or charms from the existing spells.

Practicing their given god abilities (with mixed/little success, due to personal doubts)

Making a list and retrieving or crafting gift items for the upcoming holidays.

Where to find them:

In the woods on a hike, probably mapping out a trail or sitting and watching wildlife (specifically dragons)

In the City, either getting supplies (for magic or building,) food, or books (as stated above)

At the cabin, keeping busy with smaller tasks

At the apartment of Zack (brother), Frenchie (Moirail/best friend), and Toby (their son) usually for a family related activity like babysitting or dinner

At the ruins of the temple for the Page of Mind (as mentioned above)

A classified location (seaside cliff) for a classified reason (building a house)

Sometimes within the temple for the Prince of Breath (Ghostie’s place)

Current plan:

Mostly their “plans” consist of just... Doing what they’re doing now. Finishing projects, studying facts, playing with magic. Biding their time.

The idea of a proposal has been tossed back and forth.

Later, when they feel more “settled” (aka, everyone is awake, safe, and counted for) they will go off to more extreme adventures, or at least those that are farther from home/take a lot longer to complete.

There’s a very vague plot in the rough draft phase right now, but it’s more targeted to another pair of OCs... :3c

Desired interactions:

New people to meet! And not just a casual “hello” over the internet, but genuinely new friends that they can interact with.

An exchange of information! Even if it’s just you talking endlessly about something you think is common in your life, if Alex hasn’t heard of it they will drink in every word.

A new exploration! Pretty much the same as above, but with locations rather than just information.

Offered interactions:

UNfortunately, Alex is a bit shy, so they won’t directly reply to stuff. FORTUNATELY, that means you can purposefully misunderstand what their “dash watching” post is about and strike up a conversation or press for answers.

As one might expect, Alex will ramble for days on end about both first hand knowledge as well as personal theories they might have on a supernatural subject, like the difference between dragon varieties or species developments or why a full moon and a new moon have magical properties.

Not that they’d ever ask, but test subjects for magic are welcome. Or better yet, throw an idea at them and they’ll accept the challenge.

Trigger: Canon Character Death, but this is sadly following canon and not my great "FUCK YOU CANON" fic. Also on mobile and I don't know how to make cuts on this hellsite... T.T Even after years of using tumblr I don't know how to fully use it...

Her beloved Haurchefant was dead. She held him in her arms as he died, cried over his body, and slaughtered the bastards that killed him, with a glee that only her father had recognized as she drove her sharpened staff end through his heart.

That is where she spent a few weeks, her legs and heart too heavy to leave. She knew he wouldn't wish this for her, but she knew naught else to do.

She had taken off her link pearl, she had no desire to try to speak with any of her friends or family about her pain. No one would understand it.

Ok except maybe Urianger, but he was too busy to leave the Waking Sands, she couldn't bother him with her pain when he was trying to move on with his own.

Raven felt her eyes droop, she felt so tired. Surely if she closed her eyes for a moment it wouldn't kill her.

It seemed doing so nearly did, for when she awoke she was in her old room at Camp Dragonhead, their room, shivering and wrapped in heated blankets. She looked up to see her clothes draped over a chair by the fire. Who found me?

The door soon opened to reveal one of the knights of Camp Dragonhead, a sweet woman that kept to herself and often rolled her eyes at them. Raven thought her name was Coronette? "Thank the Fury. We thought you had joined Lord Haurchefant in Her halls." She breathed.

"Who brought me here?" Raven questioned.

"Lord Francel did miss. He had gone to pay his respects and found you nearly dead in the blizzard." She explained softly. She ran a hand through her damp hair. "You're still regaining color to your cheeks. I'll have something warm brought for you." Coronette adds as she stands.

"Wait." Raven calls.

"Yes miss?"

"How long was I asleep?"

Coronette was quiet for a moment. "Maybe a day at most. Lord Francel brought you here fairly late last night."

Raven sighed. "Thank you. I'm sorry to have worried everyone. I don't know what came over me. I just felt so exhausted."

"If I may miss, should you need somewhere to stay to gather your thoughts, or even someone to speak with, all of us are here for you, and you can stay as long as you like. We all knew about your relationship, and how happy you made him. We're grateful for the joy you gave him, and we would like to help you ease your pain." Coronette offers.

Raven nods, thought she had no wish to speak to anyone, and being here hurt her more than anything, but she wasn't strong enough to really move. "Thank you Coronette. Again, I'm sorry to have troubled you all."

"You have naught to apologize for. Just rest. We'll bring you some stew and tea." Coronette replied with a gentle smile as she leaves.

Raven looked around the room, it was how the had left it when they left for Ishgard, and Raven wondered if he knew he wouldn't come back here.

She walked over to the wardrobe and pulled out a pair of warm pajamas that were too big on her and wrapped herself in them before curling up in the warm bed and letting herself cry her broken heart out...
