Bella's Book Club FAQ 🍎🌲📚
What is Bella's Book Club?
Bella's Book Club, (sometimes abbreviated to "BBC"), is an interactive virtual book club created by the Three Books One Plot podcast. Each month, participants read a selected book from the list of Bella Swan’s (really Stephenie Meyer’s) favorite books and authors as it appears in Chapter 13 of Midnight Sun, then come together to discuss it on Discord and other social media.
Where can I find Bella's Book Club?
We post most of our important information here on our Tumblr (check the Official Announcements tag), as well as in the #announcements channel of our Discord. You can also follow along on our Goodreads and join readalongs on our Storygraph (mainly used to keep track of past and present books we’ve read/are reading.)
Who can join Bella's Book Club?
BBC is open to anyone! You do not have to have participated in previous discussions, or even be a listener of the 3B1P podcast (though we’d love that, of course.) All we ask is that you be prepared to encounter mature themes and situations in some of our books (and discussions.)
How do I participate in Bella's Book Club?
BBC is designed to let you choose the level of participation you’re comfortable with. Most of the action (and fun) happens over on our Discord, during our monthly real-time discussions, but you're also welcome to share your thoughts or fanworks on a book by tagging us on tumblr or sending an ask/submission. We also sometimes post challenges, ask/tag games, and “scavenger hunts” to go along with our book of the month, and encourage each other to get creative. Past BBCers have made moodboards, fanbinds, playlists, shitposts, written fic and parodies, done scientific research, and even recreated recipes from the books we’ve read! The pressure is totally off, though—you’re welcome to read along and lurk from the cozy corner of your choice.
Who runs Bella's Book Club?
BBC is run primarily by bookworm nerds M (@gashousegables) and G (@volturialice) with occasional help from Shannon (@flowerslut).
M (she/they) is an Australian book nerd with librarian aspirations. From Animorphs to a Smeyer-adjacent Dragon girl phase, she's also the weeaboo in residence for the book club. When not feverishly promoting their Virtual Best Friend known as the Libby App they are swallowing pulpy Romances and mandatory sociological theory.
Favorite books: Imagica, the Locked Tomb series, Friday's Child, Picnic at Hanging Rock
G (she/her) is an American book nerd who grew up devouring like 3 high fantasy doorstoppers a week and considered the Scholastic Book Fair a national holiday. She enjoys reading gory Jacobean/Elizabethan tragedies for fun and has worked in Shakespeare education when she’s not stanning her local library.
Favorite books: Annihilation, The Bloody Chamber, the Locked Tomb series, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell
Shannon (she/her) is an American jock who read oodles of fic but thought books were mainly good for propping up wobbly tables until she had her own Reading Renaissance in 2022. Now she's on a quest to discover new favorites by seeking out recs and devouring every book in sight!
Favorite books: We Have Always Lived in the Castle, the Locked Tomb series, The Vanishing Half
When is Bella's Book Club?
Last year, Bella's Book Club ran September 2023 through June 2024, followed by a break for our summer reading challenge. Our third year schedule is a little different—BBC will run September 2024 through November 2025, with a break June - August 2025 for our summer reading challenge!
Books are announced one month in advance, and discussions take place once a month on Monday nights at 8 PM EST (Tuesday mornings at 10 AM AEST) during 3B1P’s off weeks. In the event of a postponement, we announce it on Tumblr and Discord.
The current discussion dates for 2024-5 are:
September 30th
October 28th
November 25th
December 23rd
January 20th
February 24th
March 24th
April 21st
May 19th
Nominations/recs for the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge will be open May 20th-June 1st. The event will run June 2nd through August 31st.
September 22nd
October 20th
November 17th
How do your live readalongs work?
Our live readalongs (not to be confused with Storygraph readalongs) are basically Discord voice chats where we take 5-10 minute turns reading aloud from a specific chapter of this month's chosen book! (If you've never used Discord voice before, it's super easy—you just click on the designated channel, leave your camera off, and turn your mic off and on as needed.) Mods livestream the text, assign the reading order, time everyone's turn, and give the reader a 1-2 minute heads up when their turn is over so they can find a stopping point. It's a judgment-free zone perfect for practicing your silly accents! You're also welcome to tune in and just listen to everyone else read—no reading aloud necessary.
Do you do movie nights?
Yes! We sometimes take a break from reading to host Bella's Movie Club. Many of the books we read have been adapted for film and TV (and when no adaptation is available, we often watch a thematically similar movie.) We host movie nights on our Discord, scheduled according to demand and availability. We usually announce movie nights on Tumblr and Discord a week or so in advance, and schedule them on weekend nights (US)/weekend or Monday mornings (Australia) to accommodate the max number of time zones. If you’ve never watched a movie on Discord before, it’s super easy—anyone who wants to watch joins in via our voice channel, mutes themself (if you don’t know how to do this, the mods can do it for you), and then chats (mostly jokes) in real time via the #movie-discussion channel. It’s a rollicking time.
What books have you read in the past?
For our Season 1 (Twilight) lineup we read Jane Eyre, The Princess Bride, Sense and Sensibility, Tooth and Claw, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Little Women, and Northanger Abbey.
For our Season 2 (New Moon) lineup we read Emily of New Moon, Sunshine, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Blue Castle, Dragonflight, A Long Fatal Love Chase, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Persuasion, and Death on the Nile.
What’s the BBC Summer Reading Challenge?
The Bella's Book Club Summer Reading Challenge is our yearly summer break activity, usually designed to coincide with 3B1P’s hiatuses (though not this year! This year it's just back by popular demand.) Phase 1 of the challenge involves recommending up to 5 books through a Google form. In Phase 2, everyone’s recs are compiled into a list. Readers then choose 5 books from the list to read (and, optionally, review) during the summer months! You can find last year’s list here (and reccer spotlights here.)
Why are the books on your list Like That?
The list we’re pulling from was made by a white Mormon woman for her Not Like Other Girls YA protagonist. (We’ve found that Stephenie Meyer’s taste in books varies from “a quality classic but uninspired as a rec” to “this is actually a pretty cool deep cut.”) But don’t let that put you off too hard—we love reading through a more intersectional lens and Queering The Narrative, for example! We also take summers off to read each other’s book recommendations, which can be of any genre and include more diverse characters and authors. Even when choosing our lineup of monthly books, we try to schedule so that we end up with diversity of genre, era, style, and subject matter if nothing else.

happy reading! (we'll see you at book club)

The End of an Era
This is mainly just me getting my thoughts out on recently finishing a project that's been on the works for a year and a half so if that's not really your jazz just go on.
January 2nd, 2022. At that time I was single, working my way through 10th Grade, and the prospects of adulthood seemed to be eons away. On that day I also wrote the very first week of a Friday Night Funkin story featuring the OCs and Personas of me and a close knit group of friends. Little did I know at that moment I would begin working on a nearly 19 month journey of working on the story for this, featuring a whopping 40 main weeks and, as of writing, 4 complete "bonus" weeks.
June 28th, 2023. I'm on my way to the 12th grade, I work a job on weekdays during the summer, and I had just celebrated my loving boyfriend's birthday and our anniversary not too long ago. I lie in bed at 11 pm typing up the final few words of Tuesday Night Vibin. The story ends happily, the ending I've been dreaming of for a year and a half now. This is the longest I've ever worked on a project, and I'm happy. At the bottom of the document I type two words that I never thought I would ever type in this story.
"The End."
Tuesday Night Vibin still has stories to tell but the one major story I dreamt up while riding a bus home from school is on the page, complete. I already have a release date in mind, it's too perfect, but it's satisfying.
I did it. I told the story I set out to tell.
I can do it.

Placement Day 3: Thursday 28th September 2023
The plan for today was installing the “USU Creative Awards 2023” show. In the 2 days I was away from Verge and at my job, a lot of changes had happened. I could see the walls were finished with their final coats of paint, and works had already started being installed. When I first got in, I asked Maelyse if I could follow her around today. Before Tesha, Verge’s (Gallery Director) arrived, I assisted Maelyse with installing a work I assume she had been in the middle of installing the day before. (image below)
I used a drill for the first time and learnt the magnets install trick galleries do. Which is so interesting because I always wondered how they put magnets on walls to install paper works (even with my own work that had been installed this way in the past). I just assumed the wall was magnetic ?? Essentially you just drill a hole in the wall, then drill a screw in that hole. Line the paper work up and then put the magnets on top of the work and screws that are in the wall.
In the morning I was also introduced to Richard and Kyra (assumed spelling) who were assisting with installing the show. I have previously worked with Richard, as he installed my work for the New Contemporaries 2022 show.
When Tesha arrived, she asked Maelyse to go to Bunnings to do a shop. So I went with her on a little excursion. Our shopping list ended up included:
1000mm x 1000mm (WxL) Plywood, which would be used as a thin plinth for a sculpture work that would be exhibited on the ground.
Cable ties
Gloves
Masks
Eye googles.
Before we left, we got some expertise from Richard on the type of plywood to buy. He told us to check for bowing in the wood, and to also get plywood over MDF board because MDF is toxic when it is cut. This was a really useful piece of information. I’ve used MDF board before and I didn’t necessarily realise how toxic it was. In Richard’s words it is “the new asbestos.”
Our first task was to go to the USU Marketing office to pick up the Bunnings PowerPass card. So Maelyse and I walked to the Holme building. After that we walked back to the Wentworth Building bus stop and caught a bus to Bunnings in Alexandria. (Pictured)
When we got to Bunnings, we began looking at the plywood. The plywood they had was too thin, and all of it was bowing. The plywood that was thick enough wouldn’t fit in an Uber back to Verge. Maelyse called Tesha and Richard to ask their opinion, and they said to just get the MDF board, but to also get protective masks and gloves to avoid touching the raw material. (Pictured)
Once we were finished at Bunnings we Ubered back to Verge with our materials. The trip was really good, because I got to learn more about Maelyse’s practice and her job at Verge. Maelyse has worked as a casual at Verge since June 2023. She interviewed for the position. Maelyse works there one day a week, which is usually on Tuesdays, though she was working the whole week of the “USU Creative Awards 2023” install.
When we got back to Verge Tesha asked me to sand some walls, because some works were moved and installed in different locations. Tesha then asked me to paint over those remediated walls and the floor plinth we bought from Bunnings.
At this point we broke for lunch. The USU buys lunch for their employees every day, so Maelyse, Lucy and I walked to the ABS building and got lunch.
After lunch I assisted Lucy with Abbigail’s (assumed spelling) install. Abbi is a 2nd year student at SCA, we took CAEL2078: Warm Glass together in semester 1 of 2022. Veronica, Verge’s program manager posted this video of us on Verge's Instagram (below).
Abbi and I spoke about how her practice has progressed since we studied together. I realised the similarities between her “USU Creative Awards 2023” work and her work from the CAEL2078 unit we took together. We discussed this in relation to her 3rd year project next year.
By this time of the afternoon, the gallery was slowly coming together. I went back to just shadowing Maelyse, who was cutting the wood we bought from Bunnings to size. Then I shadowed and assited Veronica and Anthia who were installing decals and exhibition labels. I also shadowed and assisted Richard who installed an electrical work. I did some more painting and wall remediation after shadowing.
I also spoke to Raymond, a 3rd year student at SCA, who I also took CAEL2078 with. We spoke about his glass/clay works that are a part of the “USU Creative Awards 2023” show. These works were also a part of a show he curated at Backspace. Raymond also spoke about his expansion on this work for his final work in the upcoming New Contemporaries 2023.
At the end of the day, I assisted Lucy with cleaning the gallery space, preparing to finish up for the day. Essentially just sweeping up, wipe any visible paint marks off the ground with Methylated spirits. I learnt so much in the two days of deinstall/install at Verge, I kind of wished I had been there the whole week to see it all unfold and to be a part of it. But I had to go to work the days I was not there.

Slow Teeth Debut “Still You Speak”; On Tour with Easter Island Now!
For the uninitiated, “Still You Speak” is a great introduction to Slow Teeth’s sound - cinematic and dynamic music made by three sets of hands and feet transfigured into a symphony of sound, with deeply introspective lyrics about familial relationships, disillusionment with our crumbling institutions, and the relentless passage of time in a world seemingly upside down.
Listen in here:
https://open.spotify.com/track/6CGpPCY0sTKTDE0tTtBQXI?si=e978e4311fb5407f
It’s not all bleak - other songs lean heavily into the band’s extensive and varied musical influences and favorite sci-fi novels and films, searching for a spark to light the way forward. Slow Teeth is at its core three people making music they wish existed, using the catharsis of live performance as the engine for creating songs and soundscapes whose reach exceeds their grasp. Recommended for those who like Radiohead/The Smile, Sigur Ros, Pink Floyd, Volcano Choir, Midlake, The Verve, and so much more.
Justin Ellis (vocals/ bass/ keys) shares of the release:
"Still You Speak" was one of the very first songs we put together when we started jamming in June 2021. In those days we just recorded everything we improvised, then would listen back a few days later and keep any bits that spoke to us to turn into songs. The arpeggiated bass line and the mournful bowed guitar line that mimics the verse vocal melody quickly gave us something to latch on to. Lyrically, it's about setting and maintaining boundaries with someone who is giving unsolicited advice, or perhaps talking down to you despite having NO idea what they're talking about. Though "Still You Speak" is about a specific heated conversation I had with a close relative one Christmas, I think the song is relatable to anyone who's had a difficult conversation with a parent or sibling or uncle or friend or boss or whatever. It's about having to start an argument where the disagreement doesn't trump the fundamental love or respect you have for each other - which makes the conversation even harder because you're laying things out in a way that you maybe can't backtrack from. This song is about taking that leap."
Slow Teeth, composed of Robert Chamberlain, Justin Ellis, and Jeremy Haire, originates from the NC Triangle. They create original cinematic music that draws inspiration from renowned artists like Radiohead/The Smile, Pink Floyd, Sigur Rós, and others. The band made their debut in the live music scene in March 2022 and has since embarked on extensive tours throughout the East Coast. Slow Teeth has had the privilege of sharing stages with esteemed acts such as Xiu Xiu, Holy Fawn, Camp St. Helene, and Merci. They have performed at notable venues and events including Berlin in NYC, Pie Shop in Washington DC, The Cat's Cradle in Carrboro NC, The Pinhook in Durham NC, Asbury Park Yacht Club in Asbury Park NJ, as well as the North Carolina State Fair and the Carrboro Music Festival. In 2023, Slow Teeth has plans to release music produced by Sumner James Phillips (of Bombadil and David Wax Museum) and will continue touring.

[ad_1] Over the course of this week, the developers of several major live service titles announced that their games would be shutting down. That means that players who actively enjoyed those games — and possibly spent money on them — might have to move on to something else. The shutdowns are a reminder of the challenges facing these ambitious online titles. If they don’t quickly become massive hits, they might be closed down before they really have time to find their footing. Any new entrants have to fight an uphill battle to compete against juggernauts like Destiny 2, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Fortnite. That means, for many of these newer games, they’re stuck in a chicken-and-egg situation: they need players to become a hit, but players may not want to jump in given the glut of other options available. And some games just need time to really catch on; Fortnite, for example, didn’t even launch as a battle royale.Let’s go through what was shut down.Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield MobileApex Legends Mobile will shut down on May 1st at 7PM ET and won’t be refunding players for any real money they’ve spent in the game. The game launched on May 17th, 2022, meaning it didn’t even last a year.Respawn Entertainment said that the game’s content pipeline “has begun to fall short” of its “bar for quality, quantity, and cadence,” which is why it and development partner Lightspeed & Quantum Studios (a Tencent studio) have decided to close the game down. You can still play the game ahead of the May 1st shutdown.EA is also ending development on an in-development Battlefield mobile game that had been in testing. “As the industry has evolved and our strategy to create a deeply connected Battlefield ecosystem has taken shape, we decided to pivot from the current direction to best deliver on our vision for the franchise and to meet the expectations of our players,” EA wrote in a blog post. However, it seems likely we’ll see mobile versions of these franchises in the future. In EA’s earnings call on Tuesday, CEO Andrew Wilson discussed the company’s vision of cross-platform experiences for both franchises down the line. Knockout CityOn June 6th, the servers for the dodgeball battle royale game will shut down. But in the coming months, developer Velan Studios will release a free version of the game for Windows PCs that lets players host their own servers so that they can continue playing if they want.“Creating such a different game with no points of comparison and running live services for the first time in many of our careers has also made the past couple years particularly challenging,” Jeremy Russo, Knockout City’s director, wrote in a blog post. “Despite over 12 million players and billions of KOs around the globe, there are several aspects of the game in need of major disruption to better attract and retain enough players to be sustainable. Since we are a small, indie studio, it’s simply impossible for us to make those kinds of systemic changes in the live game while continuing to support it.”Knockout City launched in May 2021 as a paid title published under the EA Originals brand. The game went free to play in June 2022, with developer Velan Studios taking over as publisher.I’d like to take a second here to commend Velan for offering a way to keep playing the game after the servers are officially closed. I think it’s an option that other developers should strive to offer if they can.RumbleverseRumbleverse will shut down on February 28th, meaning it will have just exceed six months of life. Players will be eligible for a refund for anything they bought, developer Iron Galaxy and publisher Epic Games wrote in a blog post. “It is our sincerest hope that this news does not mark the end of Rumbleverse,” Iron Galaxy wrote in a blog post. “You may not yet have seen the Rumble in its final form. If we can welcome people back onto the deck of the battle barge again, we hope you’ll be there, laced up and ready to take your rightful place in the cannon.
”CrossfireXThe servers for CrossfireX, an Xbox version of the popular first-person shooter Crossfire from Korean developer Smilegate, will close on May 18th. Access to the game’s single-player campaigns will also go away on that date. There will be no additional content for the game, but players who made purchases within 14 days of February 3rd can request a refund. Sales of the game are being halted on the Xbox Store.“While our team worked hard to push out numerous content updates including fixes, new maps, modes and in-game events, the game was ultimately not where it needed to be,” the developers wrote in an FAQ about the shutdown. “As a result, we have made the difficult decision to close the game.”Echo VRYou can keep playing Echo VR, one of Meta’s flagship VR games, until August 1st at 1PM ET, though the company won’t be offering refunds on in-app purchases, in-game currency, or DLC.“By no means was this decision made lightly,” developer Ready at Dawn said in a blog post. “But it was made for many good reasons and chief among them is the studio coming together to focus on our next project. We can’t say anything about it yet, but we are all excited and need all hands on deck.”I’ve never played Echo VR, but my colleague Sean Hollister is a fan, and you should read his article about the announcement. There was more bummer gaming news, tooMicrosoft will yank some beloved games off the Xbox 360 Marketplace on February 7th. Square Enix is shutting down a Dragon Quest mobile game. Turtle Rock Studios says it’s done making new content for Back 4 Blood, though the game will still be operational. And there were some surprising delays this week as well. The Last of Us Part I on PC has been delayed from the beginning to the end of March, while Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been pushed from March to April 28th.At least we have Hi-Fi Rush, which rules. Have I mentioned that I love my physical therapist?
She showed me this today
She uses it herself diagnostically but she mentioned that I am the first client she ever showed it to. I love this thing. Which I said and she nodded and said she thought I would like it.
This, for me, is doing some of the things the pain scale is just failing me at.
She showed it to me because I was talking to her about having an issue with giving a pain scale number because it is “split” as best I could describe it. I can tell that different elements of my pain are giving me different levels of pain and this radar chart lets me talk about it.
What we tend to think of as the 0 or 1 to 10 pain scale is that furthest dot on the example radar chart: Nociceptive / Physiological. She describes it as stubbing your toe, your body notes that input and its severity and sends that message up the line, saying I hurt and I hurt X amount, so that the brain can decide how to respond.
But she showed it to me because I was trying to convey to her that I’m noticing a split in the pain scale I use

My #1 post of 2022
I just heard the fan theory that the Borg are “farming” the Federation. Essentially attacking the Federation in ways they know will just barely fail in order to provoke the Federation to keep coming up with new tech that the Borg can still steal from single vessels. The Borg could beat the Federation if they deployed in full force but this way, they get all the technology that the Federation comes up with to fight them. This might be a standard Borg tactic. They just ping creative species until the advancements are tapped out and then they go full force assimilation.
And, having heard that, I think I like that better than a large chunk of stuff that has been done with the Borg in cannon at this point. That I find interesting.

What a fucking NIGHTMARE.
I woke up this morning at 5AM, Tuesday June 28th, 2022.
Took my shower, woke the wife, got dressed, woke the oldest, got 2 pairs of shorts out of the dryer i still needed to pack, watered the plants in the house, watered the plants in the back yard on the patio, took the suitcase down to the car, got the portable blu-ray player with 20 hours of movies, got board games for the family, cleaned some dishes, helped pack food, looked for my oldest shoes that we can't find... loaded the car and set off.
BUT MY DUMB ASS THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUNNY TO PLAY THE THEME SONG "HOLIDAY ROAD" FROM National Lampoons Vacation while getting ready...
Gassed up the car and headed south.
No problems until we hit the Ohio/West Virginia boarder in Gallopolis. The car says
LOW TIRE PRESSURE.
That means a catastrophic failure in my tires integrity. So we stop at a Loves truck stop off Rt35
Put air in the tire. I can hear and feel the leak.
SHIT!
So I bust ass towards the nearest tire center that is 11 miles and 15 minutes away. But I feel the ass end getting squirrely.
So I stop at a Speedway and put more air into it just trying to preserve the tire so I don't have to buy a new one.
Put air into the tire and bust ass to a damned Walmart tire center.
We get there, ask the to see if it can be patched, there are 2 people ahead of us. So we wait... there is a hair salon in the damned Walmart. We see if they can cut the boys hair. It will be 10:30 before they can and that's too long so we go back to the tire department.
"We can't patch your tire because the inner tread is bald."
"OK, put a new tire on it for me please."
"We don't carry that size and need to order it. It will be two days."
(Turns out 245/40/19 is not a common size tire so fuck me, right?)
"I DONT HAVE TWO DAYS BECAUSE IM MEETING A FAMILY AT OUR RESORT THE NEXT DAY AT 4..."
"Well... try Dailey tire, maybe they will have one."
So I call and wouldn't you know, they DO! They had two 245/40/19 tires!
So I send my wife to the hair appointment for the boys, I have the dude at the tire center use a Cheetah (pressure tank) to fill my tire and then rip ass town the road to Dailey's
I pull up, tires flat, they drop me in bay 4 as shown, grab the new tire, (A Goodyear, we have Pirelli"s) jack up the car, pull the lugs, "Hey pops grab me the hammer", "The big one or the small one?", "Small one will work.", knocks the wheel off, shows me TWO punctures, and dismounts, mounts, and balances the tire all in 15 minutes.
$212.00
I go back to Walmart and sit until 11:30 till the boys are done with their haircuts and hop back on the road 2 hours behind schedule.
$60 including tip
Trip is smooth sailing.
LOW TIRE PRESSURE
What. The. Fuck. WHY!?
I tell my wife fuck it let's just find a service center.
CLOSEST ONE IS 15 MILES IN THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAIN'S IN BLUEFIELD?
This time I drive the motherfucker till its wopwopwopwopwopwop.... and stop in the middle of Butt Fuck Egypt under an overpass outside of fucking Bluefield West Virginia.
And I start calling.
And calling.
And calling.
There are 18 listed tire shops or service centers in the above photo. 6 of them never answered.
The other 12 don't carry 245/40/19 because it is an uncommon size.
Walmart - "we can get it in two days."
Sam's Club - "we can get it in two days."
B&M tire - "I don't know how long."
The damned Ford dealership, (we have a Lincoln) - "we don't have tires in stock we get them delivered when you schedule a service. We can have it by 10:30 tomorrow."
Kitts tire service - we can have it by 9:30 tomorrow. "
All of them besides Kitts suggested I go to motherfucking Kitts.
So my wife is contacting roadside through our insurance company and needs a drop-off so I tell her Walmart just to get it somewhere off the highway. I keep trying to find a damned 245/40/19 and realize that we won't arrive to Orlando the next day until 10:30PM If the wind blows right, a unicorn farts magic dust into our gas tank, nobody needs to eat or piss, and I don't blow another fucking tire!
The tow driver shows up after an hour and a half. He says, "Did you try Kitts?" Well shit, everybody said Kitts. "Tow us to Kitts, they can get us one by 9:30 in the morning". Maybe we can make it by 10:30PM in Orlando leaving the other family by themselves for 6 hours. (They can't check in without us because they are our guest.)
He replies, "I can't without clearance from your insurance company." (See confused meme above)
Wife frantically tries to contact the claims department, she's freaked out and falling apart silently, I'm shutting down, the driver walks up and starts the process of getting us to Kitts.
"Just tell em I took you to Walmart."
He unloads us on the left and I have the brilliant idea to call all the dealerships in the area. Surely one of them has a 245/40/19
Toyota - "nope"
Subaru - "nope, have you tried Kitts?"
Chevy - "nope"
Dodge - "we don't have inventory, we get them as needed"
Other Toyota - "try the other Toyota store, we get what we need from them."
Now understand during all of this I have a 13 and almost 8 year old asking when we will get to Orlando. My wife is trying to cancel our hotel in Savanna, Georgia while talking to the other family meeting us, dealing with insurance, trying to calm down, and get us a hotel in wherever we are for the night.
Hyundai - "sorry we don't have a tire department, we send them to Nissan. (Same family owns them I think.)
I call Nissan, "Hey I'm in a bind, I'm looking for an odd ti...." I get a tap on the shoulder.
It's the owner of Kitts.
"Hey, we have your tire in the back. We just found it. In fact we have two and didn't know it. They aren't in the inventory......."
Look. I'm am not ashamed to tell you I cried on the spot. Silently but still, I wiped tears out of my eyes.
$240
(Side note, a gottdamned McLaren drove past this tire shop while I was on the phone with my dad while they were installing our tire) in THIS town?
So here I am, in my hotel bed next to my 13 year old with my wife snoring 3 feet away from me, at 1:24 in the morning after shaving 45 minutes off a 6.5 hour stretch doing 15 to 20 MPH over the limit through Virginia, North and South Carolina and 12 miles into Georgia.
We should have got here at 6PM. We got here at 11, we're $500 poorer and we haven't even reached Orlando yet.
Don't EVER listen to "Holiday Road" before going on a trip. Nothing good will happen.
Until tomorrow, bye bitches.
