Friends to Lovers is a common romantic trope, which involves two people in an established friendship becoming romantic partners. It is not uncommon for the relationship to be unexpected, that the characters never intended for there to be anything but friendship, but something happens to make them see the possibility of a romantic relationship. 

Friends to Lovers is a common trope used in Outlander Fanfiction. It can be used in Canon Divergent Fics as well as Modern AUs. The creative world that surrounds this trope is endless. Jamie and Claire can meet as children, become friends in high school or even college. How about meeting at work or through mutual friends?
