Happy birthday to the best boi! DUCK!!!

So I have a head canon that all engines have a section of wall in the sheds that is dedicated to all of their big achievements. It’s to help them feel better when their sad, but also to remember some highs. So I drew a small section of Duck’s wall.

Top left:

This is a picture of Duck and Stepney not long after they double headed the express after the class 40 diesel failed. I feel like Stepney and Duck’s friendship is often over looked. I head cannon that their drivers totally write letters for the other engines to read.

Top right:

This is a picture of Duck having a Great Western Railway conversation with his idol The City of Truro. I would have loved to hear their conversations.

Bottom left:

This is a picture of Donald with Dilly. I feel like it is often forgotten that Duck was very important in Donald acquiring Dilly. So Duck is clearly Dilly’s second father.

Bottom right:

This is a picture of Oliver and Duck on the Little Western. It didn’t become a real Little Western until Oliver joined Duck on the line. They have such an amazing dynamic together that I wish we had more stories about them too.

On the far right is a flag that Duck received from when he helped save a man in the regatta all those years ago. This feels like something Duck would have kept for all those years and smiles every time he sees it.

From Sea to Beyond Confine

FStBC is a TTTE horror AU written and created by @xylem-3-keys along with the help of co-writer @kenora-pizza (It is inspired by @sodorinfection @shikariiin to make this blog as well hahaha). The story on Archive of Our Own is inspired by The Mist (2007) and 'Nothing but Me Myself, and the Mist' written by Shanks. It is based on a real natural disaster event. This is all on in my headcanon.

Now, to those who wanted to be a co writer, I'll accept those I trusted to have access to my private Google doc. Also you have to be 15 years old. This is considered a vent story for my own personal feelings and not so good experiences in the past. I really appreciate fanart and animations!

Have you ever considered rewriting the terrible BWBA characters or making your own original characters?

My main issue with Big World Big Adventures isn't the characters. Nothing wrong with diversity and representation.

Except Ace. Screw that guy. Put him in the Worthless musical number from TBLT then I'll cry tears of joy :')

If Nia was introduced in the same light as, say, Hiro and Victor, I'd love her!

The problem was how everything was executed. The movie was terrible. Thomas was so OOC I can't even >:(

And the fantasy sequences are cringe. I don't like to use that word but it is. It's cringe.

put Duck in place of Thomas. (Remember All at Sea?) Percy was the main in Day of the Diesels so give Duck a chance!

Make it more realistic. Maybe some fantasy sequences but don't make it cringe.

DON'T write off Edward and Henry in favor of Nia and Rebecca. Have them coexist.

I never thought of making my own TTTE OC's? I'd love to but I don't have ideas. But I do have train OC's that are irl locomotives and my sona, if that counts.

I've been thinking about the setting of my TUGS au, the prequel to casa tidmouth, and by extention I began thinking about the show TUGS itself.

it's kind of depressing to know that TUGS is most likely set during the years RIGHT before world war 2. I remember watching a TUGS iceberg video a long time ago, maybe last year-ish. after a series of callbacks and alludes to the little environmental details right at the end of the video, the creator said that the show is possibly not set during the 1920s, but the 1930s, nearing another war period, and that's why I've changed the era of what this AU is set in many months ago.

mitton and cardona claimed that the show is set during the "booming era" of the 1920s, but I can't help but think that maybe the 1920s isn't the most fitting era with how the tone of the show is.

the 1930s setting really does make sense though -- the atmosphere in TUGS is much more, I dunno how to exactly say it, gloomy? serious? it's still a mostly lighthearted kids show, but, to quote some things indirectly from the iceberg video; what's with the munitions? the flammable barges? johnny cuba? the constant mention of broken ships? characters dying right on the screen in such a macabre fashion? burke and blair's whole job? then my mind thought about the star tugs and z-stacks, their relationship and purpose and how it ties to the pre-ww2 feeling of the story.

the conflict between the star tugs and z-stacks isn't fueled by personal grudge against each other. I apologize for comparing TUGS to ttte, but in comparison to its sister series where the engines of sodor have personal banter against each other selfishly, still manage to fool around during their jobs, get into accidents due to their own hubris, and end the day where they learned their lesson, TUGS is much different. they're just there to work and carry through their contracts. they still banter with each other but they know their priorities. they are also driven by their conscience and rationale, not just some "oh he made fun of me so I'm not gonna help him out. I'm bigger and more important so I refuse to do this job and go back to my berth".

zorran dislikes the star tugs but knows that the contracts are much more important and he is willing to work with them if it means the job will be done. top hat, despite his personal distaste for anything smelly, QUICKLY changes his mind about lord stinker and works with him to save the goods engine. zebedee is a character more driven by his personal view on what's good or bad -- he helped the star tugs push princess alice back into place and showed concern when ten cents was pushing the oil barge to the sea, but there's a part of him that's definitely concerned for his own well being.

they have their personal opinions on both their teammates and their rival company's tugboats, but they know better than to let those feelings get in the way. not working means their presence as tugboats will be jeopardized.

these points, added to the very high possibility that TUGS is set during the late 1930s, creates another layer to the overall murkier feeling of the show. the characters know the times are dire. the characters know that they have contracts to go through. they know that something big is coming. they've went through world war 1! with how bluenose and the navy inserted their presence in bigg city port, there's also an idea that there's gotta be at least one character with a sense of foreboding amidst the business.

I also reckon they've grown some kind of fondness (???) for their rival company? it's like when there's a kid at school who keeps annoying you, but next day they're not there and you got a bit worried on where they might be. the two factions don't necessarily like each other, but their rival has formed a place in their normalcy that to get rid of them entirely is not going to do any good, really.

so yeah. that's all I have in mind right now.

Donald and Douglas ranch au headcanons

Some of these also kind of apply to my interpretation of canon. Well, actually most of them but that's a whole different thing.

Backstory: {redacted] [redacted] fire, mistaken placement of blame, [redacted] (You thought you coudl get spoilers? Gotta read the fic for that lol!)

Donald is older then Douglas. But Douglas acts slightly more mature so it evens out. Kind of.

Donald is quicker to anger, but Douglas builds his fury until he snaps (hard). Donald is also better at letting loose aand Douglas is more serious.

Donald is way more social and outgoing then Douglas. Donald knows way more about things like movies or local gossip. Douglas prefers keeping it quiet with a nice book, and lets his twin do the chattering. They both like a good prank though- they'll often pretend to be each other, especially if they know someone can't see their nametags.

Hownstly the easiest way to tell them apart (they like to match whenever possible) is by their reaction to a prank. Donald will prank you back but Douglas will just take and move on with his day. But he'll join in on it if Donald thinks up soemthing though.

they once went camping with the others, and shared a tent (along with Oliver and Duck). The twins went to sleep normally and woke up having tangled themselves into a literal pretzel of limbs and both Duck and Oliver were Not Very Happy because they'd also managed to shove the other two into the far corner.

They tend to sit back to back, or side by side wheenver possible- bit of a side effect from having to go on the run to get to Sodor with threat of permanant seperation. They don't mind working apart, it's part of their job after all, but they get a bit ants if they haven't heard from the other in a while. Especially if the other is going off the island for something. They try to check in with each other at least once a day, even if it's just to swap funny happenings from the day's events. The second Sir Topham Hatt knows this and will sometimes slip in a job that takes one past the other.

the singing. Oh gosh the singing. They know so many songs. They've picked up sea shanties from the sailors at the docks, country songs from working on ranches, folk songs from locals, pop songs from the radio. They're actually fairly good singers, but if you want quiet you won't get it from them. Douglas can actually play the bagpipes, and Donald picks up the accordian after coming to Sodor, so it's never quiet in their room, rest in peace Duck who's right next door. They sing while working a lot, and they only really stop singing if they're not feeling great or something's wrong.

which was why they only really started it with the singing after being signed under contract to the North Western.

they also like to sing sea shanties while shoveling snow. Keeps them in time and at a good steady pace. And it helps keep them warm, too.

probably won't write this in, but TTTE season 21 "Love Me Tender" sort of has an equivalent. Once, the twins were shoveling the snow and got into a disagreement over where to go. They split up, but Douglas soon found himself stuck in a snowdrift and unable to get out. At some point, Donald realized he still had Douglas' water falsk clipped ot his belt, and went back to find him, luckily finding him after a good bit of looking.

Donald uses DIlly like an emotional support duck. Because she is that breed of duck known for having big white bellies and Donald is a lot more stressed then he looks, between running every which way to take goods somewhere or fix a broken wheel axle.

Douglas doesn't have a pet he just sometimes borrows Dilly for the day. He likes going to the Vicarstown Public Library and taking out books about Donald Duck to read to Dilly.

What are your favorite ttte characters and why?

I have a lot of favorite characters and this question is already answerd in my pinned post in FAQs, but since you asked why, I'll tell you:

1-James:

Of course, this is very obvious, why exactly James? Because he is the first character I saw in the fandom and I liked him very much. James, for me, is the first inhuman I loved in my life. I love him for many reasons, such as his handsomeness, his self-confidence, his arrogance, and his accent, which I cannot stand. Also if you want a lore about him, you're free to ask me.

2-Duck:

This is the second character I adore, and he is my second crush *Sniff Sniff. I love him because he is green (my favorite color) and he is very cute and he is a Genderfluid, and this makes him even cuter. He has a strong personality and does not care if anyone insults him, but it will make him angry if someone insults the Great Western. He is very handsome. And his Western English accent is killing me..

3-Gordon:

What I like about Gordon is that his personality is funny to me, and he is my favorite character when I was a child. He is very nervous and this makes me laugh a lot. He is very proud of himself because he has a job that is more important than others, and sometimes he is frowning, but in the classic series I was very scared of him for some reason. What, despite all this, he is still my favorite character

4-Marion:

Marion is my favorite female character. What I like about her is her enthusiasm, that's all, and she believes everything, and that represents me as well. Although she is a bit stupid, she loves to help anyone and is diligent in her work, and her personality is really fun and cute

5-Skiff:

He's my favorite child, even though he's a young man in my AU, but I imagine him still being a baby, I love him because he loves anything related to the sea like me, and he admires mermaids.(That's why I shipped him with Marina), and he's very adorable

Did you know that after they've taken all the parts from an engine and scrap them, sometimes their remains get thrown into the sea and become the home of many fish?

Darrel would possibly replace Falaichte in this AU.

He used to work in the Caledonian Railway...

Until being murdered by stabbing and having his corpse thrown into the sea.

He wants revenge, but he also left something rather important behind; his whistle.

He wouldn't trust it to anyone, so he wants it back.

Due to being stabbed and having his body thrown to the ocean, he can summon these sharp shard things that kinda look like prismarine (the thing in Minecraft, because his weapon reminded me of it).

Is one of Skarloey’s ancestors.

Would replace Proteus and Adeline.

Died being assassinated on a bridge.

Was shot by an arrow and she fell to the ravine below.

She has wondered this Earth for many years.

Watches over Skarloey from time to time.

Tried to call for help, but their appearance and voice didn't help (the fact that she has an arrow visibly stabbed through her body)

Her power? Said arrow in her body is a weapon she can use as a spear. It can't be broken. It can also be used as an normal arrow if she gets her hands on a bow.

Favorite ttte roast?

Anon who keeps asking me my favorite TTTE stuff, I love you. I cropped this video just for you.

Anyway here's my favorite TTTE roast in all of it's glory (taken from video linked above)

No other roast in the ENTIRE series could ever top this in my mind and here's why:

These two TEENY LITTLE DIPSHITS really told Gordon, THE HEAD HONCHO OF THE RAILWAY, that he's scrap when he is standing RIGHT THERE

They could have easily stopped at just calling him scrap. But they didn't. THEY KEPT GOING.

THEY REALLY SAID "we ought to take him to the harbor and dump him in the sea". Again, let me re-iterate. These two, MUCH SMALLER engines joked about killing Gordon, WHEN GORDON IS STANDING RIGHT THERE!

And of course, Gordon's own words being used against him. Always glorious.

Also Gordon's shocked face at the end is hysterical. They really got to him.

In conclusion, this was the moment that solidified Bill and Ben as my favorite pair of twins (sorry not sorry Donald and Douglas stans). They live solely to cause chaos. They are the cheekiest little shits you will ever meet in your life. No other roast has ever come close in order of layers and magnitude as this one. Most of them are just one liners. But this one just kept going and I love it.
